Queerness in Indian Media
↳Film: NAVARATHRI (1964, Tamil) dir. A.P. NAGARAJAN / NAVARATRI (1966, Telugu) dir. T. RAMA RAO / NAYA DIN NAI RAAT (1974, Hindi) dir. A. BHIMSINGH
Navarathri follows the story of Nalina (Savitri) who runs away from home. Over the course of the nine nights of Navaratri festival, she encounters nine men (Sivaji Ganesan in a multi-role), each of whom represent one of the Navarasam, or nine human emotions.
On the seventh night she meets an actor, who represents the emotion of Elegance, and his troupe. The actor and his troupe are portrayed as feminine, yet are not villainized--they assist Nalina and even rescue her from a typically male character who attempts to harm her.
On the eighth night, Nalina crossdresses as a man and introduces herself with a male name while meeting with a hunter, which is meant to represent the emotion of Bravery.
The film was remade into Telugu with Savitri reprising her role as protagonist and Akkineni Nageswara Rao as the men, and then in Hindi with Jaya Bhaduri as protagonist and Sanjeev Kumar as the men.

When I recently watched a video featuring Sivaji sir and R Sethuraman sir, among other famous actors, from the Tamil movie Pazhani 🔗 https://www.facebook.com/reel/214565721436356?sfnsn=wiwspwa&mibextid=LYESl6 it highlighted an ongoing issue in India: farmers are leaving their profession due to poverty, unfair debts, unfair pricing, lack of recognition, and lack of access to grants passed for them in the budget. This brings up an important question: what will happen when there is a food crisis in a country? The answer is that we will be dependent on other countries for food, leading to inflation and unrest. Farmers, good scientists, and genuine priests are divine professions — "As you sow, so shall you reap". Without these people, any country will plunge into deep darkness. I hope the governments will do the needful to encourage & protect their interest's!! #respectfarmers #savefarmers #sustenance #fairprice #sacredtrinitydigiagency

Tribute 764.
TrIbute to Writer P.S.Ranganathan 764. Today Iam going to pen about another interesting personality in Tamil literary world. He is none other than writer P.S.Ranganathan known as Kadugu and Agasthiyan.I have read a few of his works in the blog as well as some old ones.He has interacted with great personalities like R.K.Narayan,R.K.Lakshman,Khushwant Singh ,Kalki,S.A.P and actor Sivaji Ganesan which is worth mentioning here.He is one of the few humorous and versatile writers in the Tamil story world. Kadugu 's Kamalavum Naanum was a wonderful comedy one.I enjoyed that very much. He was associated with top class writers of those days and applauded by them.Film writer Gopu of Chitralaya and director Sridhar have applauded Kadugu for his writing skill In film field. In his 80th birthday ,he has released his book Naalaayira Divya Prabandam.Even though he has done so many works, I am writing this to my little knowledge only with a intention to tribute this genius for his creations.I like his simple, realistic way of writings with humour and meaning. He was respected from all the top class writers like Savi,Raki Rangarajan,Kalki and many others.Today Iam very happy to tribute this stalwart even though he is not with us .Before I conclude, I admire his busy nature and involvement.I am writing this purely with my little knowledge about him.
