yarn mandala part 1
So yarn mandalas.
I have a couple of them ready, I completely forgot to document them (it would be useful for later) I experimented with different yarns, this is a very nice stash buster. Here is the 3 I created with an acrylic yarn (I still don't understand the yarn thickness thing. I have to always figure it out by needle size...) this one is ~ for size 5 crochet needle.

All of these are based on the awesome videos by kloketen creationes
Check her channel out. The videos are in Spanish, but the English subs are workable, and she creates very good tutorials, they are easy to follow. (the only thing is to always check if you cut off enough yarn when you have to - I usually slow it down and count her rounds before doing it. this will make sense i promise)
This was based on:

It was fairly easy as these go. For this you need two sticks (I've found some bamboo ones somewhere in a shop. they are slightly too thick - which means sturdy, but very slightly modifies the tension, and sometimes even the pattern)
I am fairly satisfied with the results. :)
The last thing I am not certain about is calling these Ojo de Dios - eye of God, as far as I understand it is a custom in Mexico, Peru and other Central American cultures to commemorate the growing up of a child.
She uses the term though, and for now I will include it to give a little chance for people who are searching for patterns.
