Most of our photos have one or more of our obnoxious "children" photobombing, so they don't get posted to socials.

Yami keeps his (once a month) postings to the gym or complaining about how "insane" our cats are.

Sometimes Asta and/or Luck will get a hold of his phone and host a live "Q&A" from the training grounds or while on jobs, until Yami figures out what's happening and shuts the livestream down.

I take cute aesthetic photos from my office to "remind" Julius that we work too hard (me and Julius, not me and Yami; Yami doesn't work hard enough). I have Marx blocked during work hours so that it takes him far too long to figure out that we've left the office.

Food is Yami's love language, so I tend to post the stuff he makes whenever he's apologizing for something (which is, like, at least once a day).

Rindou Haitani: #divorced; Saturday afternoons are usually spent cleaning the club from Friday night, and getting it prepared for whatever themed event he's cooked up for the weekend. Our "legally obligated" dates are during the work week to appease our overlord Ran Haitani.

We're not usually together on rainy days. The weather just seems to follow our schedule that way.

Mikey Sano: When we're good, we spend Saturday sleeping. Just all of Saturday. Not getting out of bed until like 5 or 6 PM. And then we'll make breakfast for dinner, and get cozy on the couch to watch bad reality tv for the rest of the evening.

On rainy days, even when we're fighting, he's picking me up from my office and taking me for a ride on his bike. It's not safe for him to be on the track, but the rain fills him with nervous energy, so the bike ride is necessary.

Keisuke Baji: Saturday afternoons are reserved for study dates. Because of my work/class schedule, and his class/work schedule, we don't get a lot of time together on weekdays. We work on assignments together (I'm getting a master's in business administration, he's working on his master's in veterinarian medicine) until like 6 or 7, and then we get on his bike and find a restaurant we haven't eaten at before for dinner.

Rainy days are spent at his pet store, cuddling all the animals 🥰

Takashi Mitsuya: It depends on the weekend, to be honest. Once a month we take a three-day weekend to go explore a new location so that he can get inspiration for his designs. Sometimes it's a hotel on the other side of the city; sometimes it's going into the mountains or down to the ocean; other times we're flying to another country! All other Saturdays we spend with his family. Sometimes that's taking Luna and Mana out for the day, other times it's doing house chores.

Rainy days are spent playing dress up. He takes me to the studio, and he's draping me in fabrics, or pining mock-ups in place, or dancing with me in the final version of a pre-market piece. And at the end of the day, he surprises me with a piece that he made just for me 🥹 And depending on the piece, we might go out for dinner or order take out to the studio and do ~other things~ 😵‍💫

This got long so everyone else is under the cut:

Hawks: If Hawks and I don't have a shift AND I don't have any school stuff going on AND there hasn't been some catastrophic emergency, we spend Saturdays playing Mario Kart and eating junk food.

Rainy days (if there isn't other things going on) are spent sleeping. But they're naps rather than full on sleeping. We often move locations throughout his apartment throughout the day.

Shouta Aizawa: He usually has a shift Friday night, so we sleep in for a while on Saturdays (like 2 or 3). And then we go to a farmer's market or just something generally outside. Saturdays are also when all the kids (and Hizashi) come home for dinner! There's our five, but they usually bring friends or when they're older, partners and their children so there's usually never less than 10 people around our table.

Rainy days (assuming there's no school etc. etc) we spend all morning making a pot of soup/stew with fresh ingredients and then put on some music and quietly do our own hobbies or needs while it simmers on the stove. At some point I usually want to take a bath and 98% of the time he'll join me.

Oboro Shirakumo: #dead; We were still students, so Saturdays were study dates. I'd helped him with his language and literature classes, and he'd let me experiment on him with my newest support gear (like 50% of the gear was for him anyway).

Rainy days, if we weren't in school, we usually found an arcade to spend the day in.

Sukehiro Yami: Saturdays usually mean Magna and Luck are fighting before we get out of bed. Once that's handled, there's always chores to be done and magic skills to train up and improve. Sometimes we'll say 'fuck it' and take all the kids to the beach, or to the capital, and just let them run amok.

Rainy days we try to sleep in for as long as possible. Protocol is that Henry and Finral take anyone that's misbehaving and a) lock them up in a separate part of the house (Henry) or b) yeet them into some other part of the kingdom with their broom (Finral). Eventually we do get up, and Yami (begrudingly) helps me host a talent show for the kids (though somehow the word always gets out, and we end up with more than just the Black Bulls). We invite Jack the Ripper and William Vangeance over as impartial judges.

Fuegoleon Vermillion: Saturdays usually involve some party or tea or whatever else royal duties there are that must be attended to. We often steal five minutes here and ten minutes there between events to be together, but there are some Saturdays where we don't see each other at all.

Rainy days are precious in the Vermillion household, and they are spent playing games as a whole family. Mereoleona always comes in looking like a drowned rat from whatever corner of the world she was in.

Keishin Ukai: Saturdays are for volleyball. Morning and evening practice. Time in between is spent either at the store or at the farm.

Rainy days are for volleyball. Though, we usually try to do more 'fun' drills for the guys rather than regular practice.

(We don't take a vacation or a day off until we've been married for five years. It's a whole thing.)

Koushi Sugawara: Saturdays are for catching up. Both literally, like catching up on chores, but also emotionally, talking about our week etc. We find chores that either require both of us, or can be done separately but in the same room, and just talk. I have all the neighborhood gossip, and he has his students to vent about.

Rainy days are for walks. We put on our raincoats and boots and take a nice quiet stroll through our neighborhood. We take turns jumping in puddles to splash each other, but he will grab me and hold me tight as a car drives by so that his back gets the brunt of the soaking.

Daichi Sawamura: Saturdays depend on his schedule at the fire house. But when he's home, we go to the gym together for a few hours and spend the rest of the day outside. Even if there's a foot of snow on the ground.

Rainy days he's not usually home because there's more emergency calls so he's called into work even if it's not his shift 😔 I try to keep myself busy, so I don't worry too much about him being in danger.

Ryuunosuke Tanaka: best friend/ex-boyfriend!Tanaka and middle school boyfriend!Tanaka and I spend Saturdays AND Rainy days exactly the same. Volleyball practice and then video games on the couch at his place. As adults, I get custody of him once a month on a Saturday to do more of the same.

Senkuu Ishigami: Saturday is debate day. Has been since we were in primary school. It's the only way we can get anything done during the week. Arguments that go on for more than 10 minutes and are not life or death get tabled and resume on Saturday for however long it takes.

Rainy days are used for reviewing notes and doing all the chores we neglected to do before. He goes over my transcriptions of his notes and makes sure that there are no mistakes 🙄 and that he understands what I've written. He works in thirty minutes intervals: 30 min for notes, 30 min for chores, etc.

Ryuusui Nanami: Saturdays are the only days I let him take me out on the boat because I get sea sick if we go too far from shore. So we're up before the sun rises and don't get back until long after it has set.

Rainy days are spent cuddled up on the couch reading.

Hyouma Chigiri: Saturdays he has practice early in the morning, and I'm usually still in bed by the time he gets home. So he showers and crawls back under the covers with me. The rest of the day is very slow and calm. Drinking tea, cuddling, reading together, etc.

Rainy days we actually play a trivia game that we've made up together. We pick five words to describe a book, none of which can be the title, author, or genre, and we have to guess what the book is. We do this for hours. We escalate the difficultly by intentionally picking books that the other hasn't read, but we've talked about with them.

Laxus Dreyar: Saturdays we go help Mira Jane and Makarov with the guild hall. Bookkeeping, maintenance, repairs, whatever. Assuming everything goes well, we then get dinner in town with the rest of the Thunder Legion.

Rainy days are spent training. Lightning Dragon Slayer blah blah blah. I don't even need to be there, and yet I'm shivering my ass off just to spend time with him.

Please, tell me, what activity do you and beau do on Saturday afternoon? Or on a rainy day inside??

With Husband, it's a lot of sleeping in (cuddling and dozing on his part, I'm still passed out 😂) until like 1 or 2. Sometimes we do housework, but most of the time we'll play video games together. That goes one of two ways: a co-op game (we have a BG3 campaign together; Enshrouded is one of my favorite games of all time, and we have several servers dedicated to it) or we're in the same room, but playing different games (I'm doing a 100% run of Horizon Zero Dawn, and he's been playing Helldivers 2 and ARK: Survival Ascended with his friends).

A lot of the time, our D&D campaign is on Saturday as well!

On rainy days we might do video games, but we're also just as likely to play a board game (or Magic: The Gathering), or binge-watch a show together.

this blog is shutting down, one day i may return to it once i feel comfortable again... but for now this is the end. thank you all for staying with me in my journey through erenor, it’s been a great one. i dare say i will never find another game like it. ive met friends for life and made memories i will never forget, i went from the noobiest scrub you can imagine to a little less nooby... but i am and will always be a scrub... and im proud of that title. hopefully till we meet again.

🌈Do you think your f/o keeps little notes, photos, or mementos of you?

Yami: He does now! He didn't before ("Why would I need to when you're right here?"), but then I disappeared for a year, and he realized that he forgot that I existed, so he decided to start keeping things. At first it was everything (including snotty tissues from when I got a cold 🤢), but now he keeps the sticky notes I leave for him, and ticket stubs/takeout menus from date nights, and recently (in the vague modern AU) he's insisted on taking a polaroid photo (he even bought the camera!) every time we're together, but especially whenever I come home and when I leave because I'm spending so much time away for work.

Senkuu: He has kept everything that I have ever written to him. In canon, he's actually devastated when he's depetrified because he realizes that all of that is gone, and if he can't depetrify me too, then he'll never see my handwriting ever again. He gets around to making paper a lot sooner (it's the first thing he has me start working towards once he depetrifies me) than in manga/anime canon, because he needs to see my handwriting again. (He'll never admit it, but he also kept one of the tail fins of his first rocket experiment, even after he's reused everything else that he can, because I had painted flowers on it (we were six). In a modern AU, he still has it when we get together in our 20s.)

Keishin: His mom used to take photos of us every time I went over to tutor him in high school. We find them in a box looking for something else when we're planning our wedding, and they get hung up with the rest of our more recent photos at the venue. And then we pick some of our favorites (she made notes on the back for what the tutoring session was about and what he ended up getting for a grade!) and frame them in our home alongside our wedding photos 🥹 He also presses/dries a flower from every bouquet he ever gets me (bought or gathered) and gives that to me as a ten-year anniversary present.

Takashi: This man. Is so sentimental. He designed a dress for me for my 19th birthday, and has made a dress for me every year for my birthday using the same design. He has that first dress preserved when it no longer fits, and has it hanging up in his studio. He keeps a piece of scrap fabric from every project he ever makes for me in a binder with a photo of me in said project. In an AU where it's just the two of us, he arranges a live wedding painter for our wedding. The actual painting gets hung in our home, but he gets a canvas print made and hangs that in his studio. When we go on vacation, he LOVES taking those photos where the guy is holding the girl's hand while her back is to him, and she's leading him wherever. Genuinely, he takes photos of me whenever he can and prints out SO many of them, just to have.

🌸What’s a small, surprising thing your f/o knows about you?

Yami: Is it too morbid if I say that he knows what I look like when I'm actively dying? He knows that he'll never actually have to stop smoking because I find the oral fixation part of it incredibly sexy. Like, I can't stand the smell of it or the way I know it affects his health/the health of those around him, and I try to get him to quit every couple of years. But it's just so hot 😭

Senkuu: He knows all of my food preferences. Like even to the degree of what temperature I like to drink my coffee at. And if we're out to eat and something isn't right about my food, he'll send it back on my behalf 🥹

Keishin: He can tell when I'm planning something. Doesn't even have to be mischievous (which, to be fair, is like 90% of the time), but he knows. I don't know how he knows, but he does. And most of the time, he'll let me do it anyway.

Takashi: Taka is insanely in-touch with how my body changes throughout the month, and I suspect he can tell from like morning to afternoon to evening as well. I'll pull something out of my closet, and if he's watching (which he usually is, he likes watching me get dressed), he'll add commentary like "You're going to hate that you're wearing that in two hours." or "You should grab an extra layer, you'll probably get cold." And you know what? He's always right. (This isn't meant in like a yandere-way, he's just very observant by nature and is in tune with me because he's been creating clothes for me for almost a decade.)

🌞Does your f/o have any morning or bedtime routines?

Yami: If you consider waking up and lecturing Magna, Luck, and Asta about making too much noise because I'm still sleeping, and accidentally waking me because he is being too loud. Then yes. There is a morning routine.

Bedtime (if I'm not in the capital) consists of "story time" with the BBs (everyone shares about what they did that day and then Yami and I tell them about one of our adventures from when we were in the Grey Deer) and then cuddling until he falls asleep while I do research in bed. When he falls asleep, every time without fail, he rolls onto his back and starts snoring.

Senkuu: His Insomnia 🤝 My Hypersomnia. Morning and bedtime have no meaning for us, so there's no routine. He does start a pot of coffee when he anticipates that l'll wake up, and I'll open a window + pull the curtains closed when I anticipate him coming to bed. But other than that, it's kinda up in the air. We don't even always remember to brush our teeth 🤷‍♀️

Keishin: Morning routine depends on the season TBH. Sometimes he'll have to get up before the sun to go work on the farm, sometimes he can sleep in a little later because there's no school so he doesn't have to open the store as early. But there's always volleyball, so he can never sleep in too much.

He has to be in bed early for everything, so I'll cuddle with him until he falls asleep, and then I'll get out of bed and go about my business (reading, grading, watching tv, chores, whatever) until I'm ready for bed. And then he sleeps curled around me like a fucking koala 😂

Takashi: He's a morning person by habit, not by desire. He takes a cold shower immediately after getting out of bed to help wake him up, and then he starts making breakfast. Depending on deadlines and such, he might go straight to the studio, bringing breakfast with him. Or if he has the time, then he'll eat breakfast and then take a normal shower so he doesn't have to spend all day feeling like a popsicle (my man does not retain heat at all 😭). If he still has time, then he'll crawl back into bed to cuddle and coax me awake.

Bedtime he's very bad about keeping his habits. He'll get a routine started (skincare, no screens, reasonable hour, a calming tea, etc.) and then he'll get hit with a deadline and suddenly he's still at his studio when the sun rises. The more popular he gets as a designer, the worse it gets.

Happy Selfshiptober Prompt #3: Embrace and/or Blood I told you guys that nothing would be on time

Background: Ace and Yami recently got married, and their Vice Captain has been sent off on a mission to another country for an indeterminate amount of time. Ace and Yami have joined their friend Captain Vangeance, of the recently formed Golden Dawn Magic Knights, on a mission at the behest of the Wizard King. Ace's Magic often leaves her short on "workable" mana, which wouldn't necessarily be a problem, if she didn't also have a frail constitution. Ace and Yami have been fighting about the status of their Vice Captain and her inclusion on this mission.

Yami Sukehiro is angry.

It was meant to be a simple dungeon crawl.

Get in, survive the traps, find whatever ancient relic Ace and Julius had decided was in here, get out.

So why the HELL was this place flooded with Diamond Kingdom soldiers?

Yami strikes yet another foot soldier down with a slash of his katana, not even worth the mana. That was the last one in this chamber, so Yami takes the time to light another cigarette. Closing his eyes and breathing deeply, Yami expands his awareness, searching for the familiar Ki of his new bride, Ace, and her best friend, William Vangeance. There are others he should be looking for as well, potential assailants approaching him, primarily, but those were the two that mattered.

Luckily for Yami, Vangeance's Ki was all over this dungeon. He was leaving seeds as traps, and his roots were everywhere, keeping up his own awareness of the dungeon. But the man himself was just down the hallway to his right.

A leisurely stride gets him to Vangeance's chamber quickly, and Yami takes down a foot soldier who was readying to go after the shorter man from behind.

Yami takes one last draw on his cigarette before dropping the butt to the floor and putting it out with his boot. "Looks like you could use some back up, Golden Boy." Yami had made it abundantly clear to Vangeance how he felt about the name 'Golden Dawn' for his squad, and he wasn't about to stop teasing him.

"Thanks." Vangeance wipes his brow, having just stricken down his own foot soldier, the last one in the chamber, with a sword crafted from the World Tree. "Have you seen Ace?"

"No? That's why I came looking for you?" Yami fought to keep panic from rising in his voice. Their first mission since getting married, and she could already be hurt? "You always have one of your roots tied around her ankle, right? Grey Deer protocol and everything."

Vangeance shakes his head. "Grey Deer protocol doesn't apply when none of us are in the Grey Deer anymore. And we decided when we first came in here that I should focus on using my roots to find the fastest way through the dungeon, so I didn't spare one for her." That damn mask was so annoying. Made it impossible to read his face.

Yami grabs Vangeance by the collar of his coat with both hands and lifts him off the ground. "I don't remember being a part of that conversation!" Yami is snarling, every worst case scenario that has happened before playing through his mind.

"You weren't." Vangeance hangs limply, not bothering to put up a fight. "It was between me and her. You were already scouting ahead of us."

"And neither of you bothered to tell me because...?!"

"She decided that it would be best to not tell you because you would be like this," Vangeance gestures to the current grapple Yami has him in. "And we would spend valuable time debating over it, rather than searching the dungeon. She said it was a moot point—something about you not wanting her to be here in the first place." Vangeance clears his throat. "And to her point, we are wasting time debating over it, rather than searching the dungeon for her."

Yami sets Vangeance back down on his feet at that. "I couldn't feel her presence before I found you. Can you find her with your roots."

"I've been pouring every last bit of mana into doing just that since I separated from her..... Probably an hour ago now."

"An hour?!" Yami had gotten separated from the two of them almost four hours ago. He had held onto the idea that Ace would be safe as long as she was with Vangeance—she had always been safe with him. The only times she got severely hurt, was when she had been separated from the Golden Boy.

A memory of Ace, bloody and dying in his embrace as he confesses his love to her, flashes across Yami's mind, but he shakes his head to clear it. It wouldn't be like that—it couldn't be like that again.

"You're not going to want to hear this." Vangeance's voice brings Yami back to the dungeon. "But I've been following her blood trail." Yami's mana flares, momentarily encasing them in darkness. "It's only a couple of drops every dozen feet or so. Probably just one of her nosebleeds from using too much of her mana."

"Right. Nosebleed." Except they both know what comes after the nosebleed if she keeps using mana. Coughing up blood. Then the delirium. Then bleeding from her ears and eyes. Then unconsciousness, which if not rectified quickly, can last for days at a time. Her longest on record, that Julius and Owen know of, anyway, is 21 days.

"So which way, then?" Yami lights another cigarette to calm his nerves. He's supposed to be trying to quit, but she'd have to forgive him this one time.

Vangeance cocks his head to the side, as if he were listening to something. "Behind us."

"But all the Diamond Kingdom soldiers are in front of us. What is she doing?"

Despite the mask, Yami can't miss the horror in the other man's eyes. "Not all of them."

Vangeance's roots and Ace's blood trail lead them deeper into the dungeon. Despite Vangeance's reassurances, the blood splatters grow steadily larger, and Yami knows that they can't all be from Ace's victims because there aren't enough bodies.

It's a winding path, one in which she doubles back and gets stuck in dead ends. There are traps that she very evidently walked through, but didn't trigger, and the two men only just barely avoid them. They must wander for several hours, never truly getting lost, but it's clear that Ace did. Or that she was trying to get someone following her lost.

They hear the cries of pain before Yami picks up on Ace's Ki. It's weak and thready, she's just barely hanging on.

Yami charges ahead, ignoring Vangeance's warnings to check for traps. He darts down more hallways, running simply on instinct. He finally bursts through a set of doors into a large chamber.

Before him is a stone bridge. Easily ten or more feet wide, probably 600 feet long. On either side are chasms, rivers of lava waiting a mere twenty feet down. At the far end of the bridge is a large set of double doors, larger than the ones he has just emerged from. There is no decor in this space; the simplicity of it all makes it grander than any decoration ever could.

In the middle of the bridge are four people. Three of them, their backs to him, are dressed in the armor that all the other foot soldiers from the Diamond Kingdom have been wearing. The fourth: bloody teeth barred in a snarl; blue-grey eyes pooled and teary with blood, the whites of them now stained pink; long white-blonde hair loose from its twin braids, matted with dried blood; parts of her hair are also plastered to her face and neck with the fresh blood that trickles from her ears; her clothes are stained with blood and spell remnants and torn in places from weapons.

Yami finds himself wanting to laugh. Out of everything, it is her Black Bulls capelet that has remained unsullied by all that she has endured. Yami can hear Vangeance approaching, so he begins to run towards Ace and her fight.

Her hands are empty, she must have lost her daggers somewhere along her way here. As Yami watches, Ace lands a spinning kick to the side of the head of her left-most attacker, sending him tumbling into the others. She takes the opportunity to leap backwards and summon forth her grimoire. The smoke-grey aura, normally a comfort to him, is now a sign of danger.

"PAPER STARS—"

"ACE! NO!" Yami roars, hoping to disorient her just enough to interrupt her incantation.

"DEATH BY ONE THOUSAND CUTS!" Yami can feel the mana being sapped out of the air as Ace draws it to her to assist in the spell casting.

Before he can blink, all three assailants have had their armor shredded to bits and deep lacerations cut into their skin and clothing. The force of the spell launches them over the sides of the bridge and into the lava.

And the bridge begins to crumble where they had stood. A gap appears, widening well beyond the point of impact, causing Yami to stop in his tracks, fifty feet from his wife—nothing but air and lava between them.

"ACE!" Yami calls across the fissure, knowing that it's probably futile. He watches as she smiles at nothing, and then her eyes roll back and she collapses. "VANGEANCE!" Yami shouts, refusing to take his eyes off his wife.

"Right behind you!" Vangeance comes up to the edge of the collapsed bridge and uses a creation spell that Yami doesn't hear to fill the gap with the roots of the World Tree.

Blood pools under Ace, the radius growing with every passing millisecond that it takes for Vangeance's spell to give them a way across.

Not even married for two weeks and he might lose her already. She was going to die without him having had the chance to apologize.

"FASTER VANGEANCE!!" Panic and fear have risen in Yami's throat, leaving his voice strangled. All of his intimidation gone, leaving only desperation.

"I'm going as fast as I can! We need to be able to make it back across once we get her!" The Golden Boy was anxious too, probably blaming himself for having lost track of her. The two of them had stumbled over a floor trap, which led to slides that had divided them. He had sent a root after her, but it had hit an anti-magic barrier a few seconds later, and she was gone.

Vangeance would never admit it to his face, but Yami was right. They should have stuck with the Grey Deer protocol, screw efficiency. But Ace had been on a war path with something to prove, and being her mission partner for several years had taught him to not argue with her when she was like that. He wasn't sure what the married couple was fighting about, but he knew better than to get between them.

Too bad Nacht was gone, he could have helped mediate.

After an excruciating five seconds, the World Tree has filled the gap in the bridge caused by Ace's spell.

"ACE!" Yami surges forward before the last roots are fully locked in. He's by her side, kneeling in her pool of blood. Vangeance can hear foot soldiers approaching the chamber and he curses himself for not having set up a defense beforehand—or at the very least closing the damn doors!

"Yami! We have company!" Vangeance summons forth a grove of World Tree saplings, blocking the path along the bridge, at least for now. And then he's running to Ace's side as well.

"Ace, I'm so sorry," Yami's voice is choked with unshed tears as he lifts her limp body into his embrace. Crying won't do them any good. "I shouldn't have kept Nacht's departure a secret from you. But you were so busy with Henry, I didn't think it was worth telling you." Henry's mana sickness has been exceptionally dangerous for Ace, and they've been communicating through notes left in rooms and shouting through windows, trying to layer defenses into his home so that she doesn't immediately pass out.

Yami brushes some hair from her face, marveling over how someone can look so beautiful in death.

Ace's eyes flutter open at his touch.

"I—I'm—I'm s-sorry too." Ace's voice is barely audible over the din of swords and axes warring with the saplings. She coughs, heavy and wet, a gurgle of blood spilling out of her mouth. As she breathes in, it's ragged and shallow. "You were right, I prob-probably sh-shouldn't have c-come." She brings a shakey hand to Yami's cheek, and he turns his head ever so slightly to kiss her palm. She tries to smile, but it doesn't reach her eyes and her teeth are stained red.

"Yeah, yeah. 'I love you! No, I love you!' Whatever. Will you two stop with the deathbed confessions and MOVE!" Vangeance has summoned a single Budding of Yggdrasil and uses it to lift Ace out of Yami's embrace. He turns to Yami, his mask askew. "I have her, but I won't for long if they get through my saplings. Deal with them!" As he points back the way they came, the first Diamond Kingdom foot soldier breaks through the barricade, sword raised high.

"Right. Beating guys up, I can do that." Yami charges forward, summoning his grimoire and drawing his katana. "DARK CLOAKED AVIDYA SLASH!"

"Hey Will." Ace coughs weakly, yellow healing magic enveloping her.

"Hmm?" Vangeance acknowledges, concentrating on maintaining the spell.

"I found the treasure room." Her smile is warm this time, if just a touch smug. The light is returning to her eyes.

"Yeah." Vangeance spares a glance towards the enormous double doors that they have yet to venture through. "I guess you did."

Ace Plicarta

Magic: Paper Magic

Rather than being able to generate and manipulate sheets of paper, this particular brand of paper magic (mostly) allows the caster to treat other objects/people as if they were sheets of paper or otherwise affected by paper. Spells that can transform a person cannot be used on the caster.

Death by One Thousand Cuts: One thousand paper cuts are dealt to an object/person. They are shallow and otherwise nonthreatening, but the amount of them overwhelms most defenses. Can be concentrated to one area more precisely, but takes a full five seconds rather than instantaneously. Paper Doll: Shapes the air around the caster into semi-transparent, two-dimensional humanoid figures. Can be issued one very simple and straight forward command: "Protect Me", "Fight My Opponent", etc. The base spell can summon four figures that can individually withstand ten Dark Cloaked Avidya Slashes and deal individual damage equivalent to one Dark Cloaked Avidya Slash. If used to summon more figures beyond the first four, the defensive abilities are incrementally reduced by half, to a minimum of one Slash. After eight total figures have been summoned, their offensive abilities are reduced to a basic non-magical fist-fight, strength equivalent to a little less than Yami at the start of the series. Origami: Summons an origami paper swan to be used as a mount. Paper Plane: Turns written messages into paper planes that magically fly to the recipient. If they are intercepted, they can't be opened by anyone other than the recipient. A stack of papers can be pre-enchanted in batches so that each individual one doesn't need to be enchanted when written upon. Copy: Can copy other spells onto scrolls to be cast at a later time. Copies can be made from other copies, but the spell gets weaker the further from the original casting it gets. Hide & Seek: Surrounding terrain takes shape into a child's play castle. As long as those inside believe that the structure is impenetrable, it will remain so. Bigger on the inside than outside, restores a portion of mana, and heals minor injuries. Despite the name, you aren't actually hiding—the structure is fully in view. Paper Trail: Can be used in two ways—"Place Paper Trail" leaves clear evidence of a path that was taken (alternatively, "Place False Trail" can be used to leave a false trail and leave the real one disguised to even the most discerning of eyes/spells); "Find Paper Trail" works to find the evidence of a path that was taken. Invisible Ink: Turns objects/persons invisible; easily exposed by the most basic of Light or Fire Magic spells. Paper Thin: Can make objects/persons as thin as a sheet of paper; effectively makes them two-dimensional. Can be very dangerous if the spell ends. Record Keeper: An extra-dimensional space that takes and holds information. As long as it's written on a sheet of paper, it can be put inside Record Keeper, which will file it either automatically based on the information written, or manually with spoken instructions when the spell is cast. Individual "filing cabinets" can be summoned for searching stored information. Contingency Plan: The caster meticulously writes out the details of a plan, and every path it can take as each step is triggered (whether accomplished or not). As a part of each step, different spells, tools, and information are revealed and utilized to move to the next step of the plan. Every alternative path must be accounted for, otherwise, steps will not progress until their specific conditions are met. Paper Stars: A form of amplification magic, the spell uses up all of the caster's existing mana, to copy and amplify someone's else's spell up to 200 times over. If used with an offensive spell, the spell now spreads in a "starburst" pattern across a large area. Using this spell in conjunction with any of Yami's spells has been classed as war crimes in the Clover and Heart Kingdoms. Contract: Creates a written document of a verbal agreement and accounts for any loopholes that would allow the contract to be breached and eliminates them. Signing it is a polite formality. If a Contract is broken, the party that broke it will be faced with Death By One Thousand Cuts: Paper Stars edition.

Daughter of a noble family; Has four siblings of similar age: James (+4 years, Family Heir; has not left home), Christopher (+2 years, Magic Knight: Coral Peacock; joined 3 years after me), Samantha (-2 years; Maxine's twin, Sister of the Church; left home 2 years after Christopher), Maxine (-2 years; Samantha's twin, works in the Royal Archives; left home 1 year after Samantha); Also has a younger half-sibling that was the result of an affair with one of the house staff: Andrew (-25 years, too young to manifest much in the way of magic).

Was no-contact with my family for 15-ish years; they largely thought I was dead; Christopher was the exception, as he found me when he joined the Magic Knights—we did once a year check-ins so that when my dad interrogated him, he didn't have the ability to say anything about my existence.

Joined the Magic Knights under Julius Novachrono in the Grey Deer at 15; partnered mostly with William Vangeance; Would later found the Black Bulls with Yami.

Despite being Co-Captain of the Black Bulls, I spend most of my time in the Capital working for Julius; I'm kind of a glorified secretary, working in tandem with Marx Francois, much to his displeasure; at least once a week I'm convincing Julius to shirk his duties and go find some hidden pocket of the country to discover ancient ruins or someone's cool magic.

I have low mana stores. Part of this is my generally poor health (caused by a not-so-great childhood), but it's also because of the amount of spells that I have running in the background. Existing Contracts & Contingency Plans constantly draw on my mana in small amounts to uphold them; if they're ever triggered, then the draw on my mana is more severe. Record Keeper is also a constant draw on my mana, but it's largely supported by the natural mana in the air. Paper Planes can be enchanted en-mass in advance, but there is a small draw on my mana when they reach their recipient, so that it can be opened. This causes a lot of issues in the middle of battles, obviously, so I'm not allowed in the field anymore without like 30 magic items of precaution (stored mana, health potions, etc.) and/or William within line of sight. He has saved me with World Tree far too many times to count. Yami has seen me on the verge of death no less than six times since we got married.

Important Notes:

There is a secret civil war brewing among the Clover elite that runs parallel to the canon plot. The only thing keeping the country together is my indeterminate, but upcoming nuptials with Fuego.

I am also quite proficient in the use of Runes, which allows me to use Magics that are otherwise inaccessible to me.

My brand of paper magic is seen as inferior and a disappointment. My family's brand of magic is actually largely meant to be employed for espionage; I was also late to develop my magic, so even though I have "espionage" type spells now, they didn't exist when I was 15. James: Can transform his body as if it were a sheet of paper, though not always two-dimensional like my Paper Thin spell. His abilities are near-identical to my father's magic. Christopher: Can summon sheets of paper and transform them to be used as weapons/armor. His imagination is literally his limit. Samantha: Can transform her body as if it were a sheet of paper, but smaller square footage than James. James can fold his whole body at the same time; Samantha can transform a single limb at most at one time. She likes turning her hands into shadow puppets for the children in her orphanage. Maxine: Can create sentient stick figures that she can imbue with different abilities; everything must be written very precisely, no room for nuance. She also has a version of my Copy spell, it's more picky about how you copy spells, but it doesn't lose any of its potency the more that it's copied. She has the closest to our mother's magic, which is a type of Art Magic.

Sam, Chris, and Max all left home because of the abuse they began to endure in my absence (I was my dad's favorite punching bag, literally and figuratively). They never knew how bad it was for me until it was turned on them. James remains at home out of obligation and to keep our father in check. As they are all forced back into my life because of our father's involvement in the civil war, there's a lot of tension and hurt feelings. But they all love to see me stand up to him because I am a soon-to-be Royal.

The #aceyami timeline, for my own reference:

Ace leaves home at 15, shortly after receiving her grimoire; she does not attend a Grimoire Tower ceremony.

Julius Novochrono recruits Ace to the Grey Deer without the Magic Knight Exam.

Yami washes up in the Clover Kingdom sometime between the age of 13 and his 15th birthday. He also does not attend a Grimoire Tower ceremony when he receives his grimoire.

Julius invites Yami to join the Magic Knights, but Yami has to take the MK Exam. Julius recruits him to the Grey Deer in the aftermath.

Julius hopes that Ace will partner with Yami, seeing great potential for their Magics working together (he also hopes that they'll soften each other's sharp edges). But Ace refuses, clinging to prejudices of her noble birth and sees the "commoner" Jack the Ripper as the less offensive of a partner than the "foreigner" Yami who has yet to learn the Clover Kingdom's language (Julius was looking forward to some "bonding" between Ace and Yami with her teaching him the language, but Julius ends up having to do the lessons).

Yami would rather partner with Morgen anyway, who is the twin brother of his friend, Nacht Faust.

Ace does not partner with Jack frequently, as she actually partners with Fuegoleon Vermillion of the Crimson Lions much more often. They date for about a year and half before Ace receives a long-term assignment in the Forsaken Realm, while Fuego remains in the Capital and they break up.

It is on this assignment that Ace partners with William Vangeance for this first time and tells Julius that she will never partner with anyone else. Which, to her credit, is a really good choice consider the amount of times that she has almost died on missions from injuries or just using too much mana.

At some point during the two years on this long-term assignment, Ace and Yami develop a very antagonistic rivalry (think Jack and Yami levels of antagonism). Julius views it as them flirting and keeps putting Will and Ace on shorter missions with Yami and Morgen.

Morgen dies at 19 for unrelated (manga/anime spoiler) reasons.

Shortly after Morgen's death, William is sent on a mission on his own, leaving Ace with some "vacation time". Yami is tracking bandits in the same area that Ace is traveling, and those bandits jump Ace and leave her bleeding in the road.

This is Yami's first real encounter with just how weak Ace is, and in his fear, he confesses his love to her.

Yami gets severely injured in a battle six months later, and in Ace's fear, she proposes marriage.

A few months later, Julius becomes Wizard King, and promotes Vangeance and Yami to Captains of their own brand-new squads—the Golden Dawn and the Black Bulls respectively.

Yami names Ace as a pseudo-co-Captain and Nacht (old friend, Morgen's living twin brother) as his Vice Captain.

At the age of 20, Yami and Ace are married by Julius on the steps of Henry Legolant's home, minutes after recruiting him to the Black Bulls and making his home their base. Ace barely makes it through the ceremony because of Henry's mana sickness.

Nacht leaves for the Spade Kingdom two weeks later.

Despite their marriage, Ace and Yami continue their antagonistic rivalry.

At some point, they both recruit Zora Ideale separately? Literally the only person that Ace recruits on her own (she did technically recruit him first, but Yami gave him the cloak).

Years later, at 28, right before Asta and Noelle join the Black Bulls (during their WK Exam), Ace and Yami get into a fight (over Nacht and his absence, as they are wont to do), but things are said and done that cannot be easily forgiven, so Ace storms off. Yami gets wrapped up in the exam and can't follow through post-fight like he normally would.

By the time he gets Asta and Noelle settled, he realizes that she's not at the base. He assumes that she's taking time to cool off and/or off adventuring with Julius, and he'll hear from her eventually.

Ace moves permanently to the Capital to work with Julius (she had been spending a lot of her time there anyway), and Yami continues on as if nothing has changed (he kind of forgets that she exists).

A year later, all sorts of main story plots have happened, and Ace returns home because Nacht has emerged from the Spade Kingdom. And she is introduced to Asta, Noelle, and Nero/Secre for the first time.

And then a whole separate thing with a Civil War and Fuegoleon happens in the undercurrent of the rest of the main story plots.

Are You My Type?

I realize that I'm late to the game, but that hasn't stopped me before. I went back and forth over options a bunch of times, and I finally gave up and decided to post what I had. I'm including a blank one under the cut in case anyone wants to play with me. As always, I will eventually do this with all of the selfships.

This is Yami's, mostly because he was one of the easiest to do. Screw him and his double Bingo 🤬
