There are four different hornbill species in Bhutan. The only species among them that can be found up to around 2000 metres and, sporadically, up to about 2400 metres is the Rufous-necked Hornbill. The Himalayas, from Bhutan to Arunachal Pradesh, and Northeast India are home to the Rufous-necked hornbill. BirdLife International has rated this hornbill species as Vulnerable.
