y'know what, here.
here's all the OCs I have in my writing ideas doc that don't have bios/stories written out yet: (hint, it's a lot)
Lydia - the Witcher universe, forcibly-turned siren, Caribbean ancestry, biromantic ace
Aurelia - X-Men Rapunzel AU, stand-in for Rapunzel
Ithuriel/Rue - Good Omens universe, an angel that later falls, genderless but presents largely female
Calypso - Good Omens universe, human eventually turned low-grade angel, blind, lesbian
Atlanta Santiago - Deadpool universe, Hispanic (Mexican-Cuban), recreational boxer, can sense and manipulate pain after being sent to the mutate warehouse
Project Five/Venus - Alita: Battle Angel universe, humanlike android, agender (uses all pronouns but it/its), autistic-coded (but like... not in the stereotypical "robots are autistic" way)
Sable - Maleficent universe, Dark Fey forced to masquerade as human for years, can cast illusions over herself and others
Ash Kinzler - Stranger Things universe, transgender and polyamorous (I know I posted a chapter of this fic but I think I'm gonna give Ash a bit of a revamp and rewrite it), percussionist, Jewish, later loses half his left hand in a fight against Demobats
Citron/Veronica - Bullet Train universe, assassin with the fruit twins, disabled (paraplegic) after taking a bullet to the spine
Cleome "Cleo" Morgan - AHS Freak Show, "unilateral albinism" (that's really a bit more supernatural than that), can speak with the dead
Daisy - Cleo's grandmother, will receive her own story in partner with Cleo's
Ruby "Red" Osborn - AHS 1984, Black bisexual woman, rock guitarist, later has nerve damage from being stuck in the camp freezer (yikes)
Echo Smith - James Bond universe, nonbinary pansexual, has autism and schizotypal (I think that's the correct term?) symptoms, manages beekeeping for Lyutsifer Safin's death garden (probably won't be written)
Persephone "Percy" Michaels - Marvel universe, bisexual trans woman, bonds with a symbiote (Viper) to manage her organ failure
Christina "Chris" Carver - Marvel universe, Italian-American cisgender female, has Tourettes and OCD, can tell the future through painful prophetic visions
Iris Jones - Marvel universe, becomes a super-soldier for Hydra, can control sleep in others but is in a constant state of sleep-deprivation herself
Equinox "Nox" Richards - Marvel universe, nonbinary younger sibling to Reed Richards, becomes a test subject for the Life Foundation
Maxine Fields - Criminal Minds universe, neurodivergent with high-empathy characteristics, deals with chronic pain, agoraphobia, and a fear of guns after being shot in the chest
Sierra Valentina de Leone - Encanto universe, amputee of her right leg after narrowly surviving a flood
Imogene "Jimmy" Cross - MacGyver (2016) universe, post-military trauma doctor, missing both legs at the knee from a bomb incident
Winter "Snowy" Worthington - X-Men universe, younger sister to Warren, has her wings cut off by mutant poachers and is later found by Reavers
Eris - DC universe, Amazonian warrior with no strict concept of gender or sexuality, aids in the Suicide Squad due to owing Rick Flag a few favors
Nyx Bastion (Nikoletta Bordeaux)- DC universe, Cajun/Creole ancestry, long-time prisoner known as the "Queen of Belle Reve", can jump through shadows though all skin-to-skin contact spreads an inky stain that cannot be removed (uses this as a death-mark while in Belle Reve)
Selene - Marvel universe, leader of a secret kingdom similar to Talokan (probably won't be written)
Victoria "Tori" Crane - The Voyeurs universe, accomplished eye surgeon, uses a wheelchair due to birth defects in her lower body (probably won't be written)
Delphi/Del - X-Men universe, found in a lab after being used as a pseudo-oracle due to her ability to access memories
R. M. "Remy" Duvall - based on The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires, a centuries-old werewolf searching to escape an abusive and manipulative relationship with James Harris
Easton McKay - X-Men universe, demisexual trans man, tattoo artist with the ability to manifest his tattoos as physical objects/constructs (though they disappear after he does and he has to re-ink them)
man this OC Secret Santa thing is super fun but it also reminds me of how many OCs I have that don't have bios because I haven't gotten around to writing their stories yet
#my ocs#and this is only the main protagonists of these stories#if I looked at the side OCs and characters there would be HUNDREDS

Two Hearts Make a Whole
Prompt: “Kiss me again, like you mean it.” Photo prompt below.
Summary: NYC Pride is for celebration, and occasionally, long-overdue revelations.
Word Count: 2,001
Tags/Content warnings: Marvel. Stucky. If you have a problem with it, there's the door. SFW. Slight TFATWS spoilers so read at your own risk. Platonic Reader. Two idiots in love. Technically canon-divergent because I'm still in my everyone-is-alive-and-in-this-timeline happy place that I will never ever leave fuck you very much Russo brothers but not AU. Found family. All the feels. Complete and total LGBTQ+ support. Lots of bad language words because #me. Un-beta'd.
Author’s Note: Okay so yes this is technically 4 weeks late for @autumnleaves1991-blog's Writer Wednesday weekly challenge. BUT, it was incredibly important to me to finish this one before Pride month is over. Made it by the skin of my teeth.
Happy Pride, y’all. If you’re out, you’re amazing. If you’re closeted, you’re amazing. However you identify is valid and important. Trans folx are LGBTQ+. Bisexuals are LGBTQ+. Ace folx are LGBTQ+. Anyone who identifies or thinks they may be as queer is LGBTQ+. All are welcome in the family. You have the right to choose your pronouns and we have the responsibility to use them. Live whatever your truth looks like to you and love each other. Love is love is love is love. If your family doesn’t accept you for you, I’m your mom now and I’ve got mom hugs available on demand. Homophobes and TERFS can fuck off and roll in poison ivy. Always punch Nazis. Pride shouldn't be limited to the month of June. And don’t you dare forget that Black and Brown trans women were the ones who rioted at Stonewall, and we owe everything to their bravery. Don’t forget that much of popular ‘gay’ culture was appropriated from Black women. And for more facts about Pride that you should absolutely know, Rawiyah Tariq (@ mammyisdead on Instagram) has a phenomenally good overview.
“Oh my god.” You gasp loudly. "Oh my GOD. Is that-"
“What?!” Instantly in First Avenger Protective Mode™️, Steve surveys the crowd, wishing he had an actual shield instead of the screen printed one on his shirt. “What is it?”
You gasp again, smacking Sam’s arm repeatedly. “OHMYGOD IT IS HOLY FUCK.”
“First; ow.” Now-Cap rubs his bicep. “Second; clue in the class before Steve has an aneurysm, please.”
Vibrating with excitement doesn’t begin to describe your current state. “HER ROYAL HIGHNESS MISS LEMON MERINGUE IS STANDING RIGHT FUCKING THERE.”
With the finesse of a shampoo commercial, Bucky's dark locks fly as he whips around. “What?!”
“RIGHT THERE RIGHT THERE RIGHT THERE.” You abandon a relieved Sam and latch on to Bucky’s vibranium arm. “Oh my GOD I love her so fucking much.”
“She was robbed, absolutely fucking robbed,” he agrees, craning his neck to get a better view. “Divine Tension’s lip sync was shameful.”
Sam glances at Steve, who is slowly coming out of protector mode. “What the ever-loving hell are they talking about?”
“RuPaul’s Drag Race.” Nat flicks more confetti at both Cap-the-former and Cap-the-current. “They watch it every week.”
“Really, Steven, for a guy with enhanced super senses, you miss a lot.” Tony hefts a bedazzled Morgan higher on his back. The toddler, accompanied by Scott playing air-piano on the ground, sings along with the ABBA song being blasted at full volume through the street. Tony continues as if this is an everyday occurrence. “Why do you think both of your People disappear every Friday evening?”
Ears pink, Steve mumbles something.
“What?!” The only other one with hearing enhanced enough to hear a murmur over the cacophony of several thousand people belting out the chorus of ‘Dancing Queen’ at the top of their lungs, Bucky turns to stare at his friend. “You thought we were datin’?”
Steve’s blush extends down his neck.
You and Bucky stare at each other for a moment before you both collapse on each other, exploding into stomach clenching, thigh slapping laughter.
“I’m gonna guess that’s a ‘no’?” Clint confirms with Nat.
“Oh, a big ‘no’.” She watches affectionately as you and Bucky calm down enough to look at each other, breathe for a second, and both promptly dissolve into hysterics once more. “Like, the biggest ‘no’.”
Sam crossed his arms across his chest, his stoic stance so reminiscent of Steve it’s amusing (as well as a beautiful disparity to the sequined crop top he’s sporting. Oof, those abs.). “How do I not know about this?”
“Because you’re not a former super spy?” The usually-Black-but-today-Rainbow Widow tosses the last of her confetti at Tony, who spins a jubilant Morgan into it. “Or because you and that leggy barista from the lobby coffee shop are too busy playing hide-the-“
“-Baby Shark!” Morgan suddenly shrieks, flailing towards a guy on roller blades wearing a fin and tail (and not much else).
“Yeah,” Nat finishes with a smirk, “Hide-the-Baby Shark.”
Sam flips her a gesture that makes Clint laugh and Bruce sigh.
You and Bucky have finally managed to pull yourselves together. “Oh my god, Steven Grant,” you gasp, wiping tears from your eyes. “That’s the funniest fucking shit I’ve ever fucking heard.”
“Language!”
Steve glares at Tony. “One. Time. It was one. Time.”
Bucky slings his flesh arm around Steve’s shoulders. “Oh, punk. You may have perfect vision now, but sometimes you’re still as blind as you were before.”
Visiortn himself nods sagely. “Humans can be quite unperceptive when it comes to matters of the heart.” Vision casts a fond smile at Wanda, who is using her powers to make Pietro’s tinsel wig fly on and off. “Sometimes you have to look harder to see what’s right in front of your nose.”
A confused frown on that handsome face, Captain Clueless looks at Bucky. “Why do I feel like everyone else knows something that I don’t?”
His bestie sighs deeply. “Because, Stevie, almost everyone else on this planet knows that my tastes tend towards tall, blonde, blue-eyed knuckleheads who have zero sense of self-preservation.”
“And an ass you could bounce a quarter off of,” Scott helpfully supplies.
“And that,” Bucky agrees.
Steve frowns.
You press your palms to your eyes in vexation. “You, Steve. He’s talking about you.” (Seriously, how has this idiot survived for over a century while being so dumb?)
Whatever he was expecting, it was certainly not that. “He-“ The Man With A Plan gapes as he turns to his oldest friend. “You-“
“Me,” Bucky says gently.
Even though you’re slightly surprised that Bucky is going to do this in such a public forum, you can’t help but be so proud of your friend. It has taken a long time for Bucky to believe he deserves to be happy. There are days he still sinks into that dark place, where his inner demons whisper that he should have fought harder against his Hydra captors, and that his past actions were still somehow his fault. Those are the days no amount of baking or Modern Marvels will bring him out of his funk. You, Steve, Sam, and Nat have all held those strong shoulders as they shook with sobs, overwhelmed by the shame and horror at what his hands had done without his consent.
But he’s here. He’s free. And he’s smiling nervously at his best friend.
“I-” Steve is short-circuiting. “Me?!”
“Stevie.” With the kind of tender patience that can only be born of a lifetime of keeping (or attempting to keep) an idiot such as one Steven Grant Rogers from flinging himself headlong into every fight he comes across, Bucky moves his flesh hand to the back of Steve’s neck. His face is full of such soft affection that you almost want to look away for fear of intruding on this suddenly intimate moment. “What do you think ‘til the end of the line’ means, you idiot? You’ve been it for me since I was thirteen-years-old.”
Blue eyes are locked with blue eyes as Steve processes this revelation. “I-” He shakes his head as if to declutter his thoughts. “This whole time?”
“Since the first time I saw that asshole knock you down, and your scrawny ass climbed right back up.” A wry chuckle escapes as Bucky reminices. “You were ninety pounds soaking wet, and you stood there, against a guy who was three times your size, and never waivered for a second. It was magnificent.”
“I don’t like bullies,” is Steve’s quiet response.
Bucky’s grin is adoring. “I know, sweetheart.” He gently strokes the back of Steve’s neck with his thumb. “You’ve always had a heart way bigger than your brain.”
Steve is still back on the first part of Bucky’s admission. “If you’ve felt- if you-” He’s practically pleading. “Why didn’t you say anything then?”
Bucky shrugs, attempting and failing nonchalance. “It was a different time, you know?” He’s uncharacteristically unsure of himself, the subtle waiver in his voice revealing the anxiety born of a lifetime of being forced to hide his truth. “I mean, you remember how it was; you didn’t talk about, no one talked about- about being- about people like...” He swallows thickly. “And I was so scared you didn’t, that you weren’t-” His voice breaks.
Even though you’ve all been emotionally invested in this love story for years, the entire team respectfully pretends not to listen as the former Winter Soldier quietly admits his deepest secret to his closest friend. It’s enraging as Bucky confesses yet another way he's been a victim of his circumstances, and denied his right to live freely without derision. Once more, you’re awed by his resilience.
“-it was a risk I couldn’t take,” Bucky finally gets out, that stubborn fire back in his eyes. “I couldn’t lose you, Steve. I couldn’t chance it. I could live with just being your friend and only your friend so long it meant you were in my life.”
Stunned silence meets the end of his confession. Steve’s face is impassive, those cerulean eyes uncharacteristically inscrutable.
You can all tell Bucky is heading steadily towards dread and heartbreak the longer Steve takes to respond. You and Sam exchange a look, both ready to intervene if Steve demonstrates any of the abhorrent attitudes that were so prevalent in the society of his youth. It would be completely out of character for him, but...
Finally, Steve speaks. “You’re telling me,” he says, his words slow and deliberate, “that you made me wait ninety-three years to tell me you’ve felt the same way about me as I have about you since the day you picked me up out of that alley?!”
The whole found family breaths a collective sigh of relief as Steve pulls Bucky even closer, broad chest to broad chest.
“Okay, to be fair, you were an ice cube for most of that time and I wasn’t exactly available for a relationship.” Bucky’s grin stands in contradiction to his mullish defense. “But yeah, that’s the gist of it.” There’s the Bucky you all know and love, biting his lip with those perfect white teeth. “Now, punk, I’d really like to kiss you now, but first I need you to say you want me to.”
“You-” Steve’s throat works as he attempts- and fails- to rein in his emotions. “You jerk.”
And then the Star Spangled Man seizes the president of the Sometimes-Former-Assassins Club by his ridiculously perfect face and crashes their mouths together.
At any Pride event, seeing two men kissing is, obviously, to be expected. But seeing The First Avenger and The White Wolf attempting to swallow each other’s tongues is not at all routine. As people realize what is happening, the crowd is whipped into a frenzy the likes of which is usually reserved for the aftermath of sporting events and elections that defeat fascists.
Watching the two men embrace, Scott sniffles loudly. “I’m gonna cry, I’m so happy.”
He’s certainly not the only one. Wanda has a watery smile as she wraps her arms around Vision and Pietro; Pepper, Tony, and Bruce are watching with fond parental energy; you and Sam sandwich Peter between the two of you, grins practically splitting your faces. Even Nat’s eyes look suspiciously shiny and she and Clint sling their arms around each other with platonic affection. And that’s not counting the several thousand people who are cheering for love being love being love being love.
When they finally break their embrace, the Centennial twins are startled to see they’ve collected quite an audience.
“Uh, so…” Suddenly bashful, Steve glances back to his- partner? Boyfriend? Soulmate? Is there a word that can accurately describe two people who have found each other time and again in a world that seems hell-bent on keeping them apart?- his ears practically maroon with embarrassment. For a guy with one of the most-recognized faces in the world, Steve is still incredibly and endearingly uncomfortable with attention. “Buck?”
Bucky seems just as stunned as Steve.
Thankfully, the masses demonstrate the usual support that’s the hallmark of Pride. “LOVE IS LOVE!” someone screams in the crowd. It’s quickly echoed, and chants fill the park.
The attention momentarily off them, the former Winter Soldier and his giant himbo of a soulmate look back at each other. You pretend not to watch through the happiest tears as they embrace again, bringing their foreheads together. The relief they share is palpable, as they’re finally able to show the world- and each other- the love they’ve each hidden for so long.
Bucky’s voice is so soft you have to strain to hear it. “You have no idea how much m’in love with you, Stevie.”
“Pretty sure I do,” Steve answers, bringing a hand up to carefully wipe the tears from Bucky’s face. “‘cause it’s as much as I love you, Buck.”
Bucky's answering grin can only be described as saucy. “Then kiss me again, like you mean it.”
And Steve, for once in his long life, does exactly as ordered.

@ademonwithinternet I heard you were sad/stressed and I was distracting myself in spanish class by making origami cranes so here is the next installment of Dragon's family
This is Hydra, Dragon's older sibling. They were married to their ex partner 7 years before they realized they were aro/ace and divorced their partner, but they remain close friends with their ex partner. They raised their children and love them very much
First there is Thorn, they are the oldest. Then Pandora, and he's only 9 months younger than Thorn so he hates being treated as younger. Then there is Rabbit, the second youngest, and Zip, the baby. Zip and Rabbit are a year and 2 months apart in age.
Bonus: here is everyone so far

Dragon Dancer IV: Hollow Victory
It was about 8 pm at night when I got the knock on the door. Ru’Yi was still awake, laying on her stomach and lifting her head from the bed in an attempt to stretch for a small toy that I deliberately placed just out of reach.
Immediately, my senses were keen. I hadn’t ordered anything and I wasn’t expecting any visitors.
I peered out the peephole. It was Crow!
I undid the chain from the door.
The Japanese man wore a black trenchcoat with the colored lining that showed that he was a member of the Hydra clan. He gave me a kind smile. “Carli, how have you been?”
“Alright. Staying safe.”
He nodded once. “I need to talk to you.”
I let him in and closed the door, redoing the deadbolt and chain, looking back at him uncertainly.
As soon as he saw little Ru’Yi, his eyes lit up. “Look at how big she is!” He hurried to her and picked her up holding her up into the air. “Hey there!”
Ru’Yi curled her fingers into her mouth and giggled.
I thought Crow would pass out, he was so enthralled. He looked at me, eyes bright. “She smiled at me!”
Crow held her close. “What’s so funny! You think something’s funny?” He cooed at her.
I couldn’t help but laugh to myself. “You’re sure you don’t have any kids?”
Crow sighed wistfully. “Kinda need a woman for that.”
I flinched. “Oh... sorry.”
“Don’t worry about it.”
I noticed a hint of sadness as he turned away from me but it was gone in a flash. “I actually have something I need to tell you. I’m not here for a casual visit.”
He sat down, cradling Ru’Yi in his lap. “I’m here to take you. You’re completely surrounded by Hydra agents. ”
I gasped. “What?”
He already had Ru’Yi. I trusted him and he just took advantage! I bared my teeth at him. “No...”
“Woah! Easy! Easy!” He tried to reassure me as my eyes had started to burn with Dragon fury. “I’m on your side, remember? I’m going to take you to Lu Mingfei as part of my friendship with him and I will pretend to capture him as well. I would have told you earlier but there was just no way.”
I tried to take slow calming breaths, watching Ru’Yi grab at the man’s fingers, trying to figure out how to take his large ring off. She attempted to use her mouth, but he pulled his hand away, lightly tapping her cheek.
“Don’t worry about doing and saying anything. This is under my control now. You can relax.” He looked down at Ru’Yi. “I won’t let anything happen to this precious little gem here, right?” He tickled her, chuckling at her wriggling.
My heart felt like a stone. My mind understood the plan but, at the same time, I couldn’t stand that he held on to Ru’Yi.
“You have things to pack. Let’s go ahead and pack them.” He said.
We fit what supplies we could, with an emphasis on diapers and wipes, into the suitcases that EVA had bought me.
“Don’t worry about the rest of it, I’ll have my men clean out your hotel room and get you the things you need later.” Crow put a reassuring hand on my shoulder. “I know it’s scary to trust me but trust me. They really think I’m here to turn you in.”
We stepped out onto a a street that had been cleared out and closed off. On every corner were agents in black trench coats, brandishing bright swords.
I put Ru’Yi in the back car seat. I’d already fed her, hoping that she’d sleep for the rest of the night. While back there I saw the car was full of even more supplies! I gasped.
“Shh...” He said winking at me, “Come to the front seat.”
I nodded, lowering my head and trying to look as guilty as possible. “I got you a few more things... my treat.”
Even though he was being very kind, I watched as we drove, trying my best to remember landmarks as we passed by. But Crow took a circuitous route and it wasn’t long before I was hopelessly disoriented. Finally, we got on the highway headed to Tokyo.
While he drove, he talked to me. “You and Lu Mingfei are close friends of the Hydra Clans and especially my friend, Chisei Gen. But a letter issued by EVA for your arrest has been issued to all branches around the world. You’re to be returned to Cassell. Dead or alive.”
“Everyone has accepted the assignment of hunting you down, including Hydra.”
“I’ve accepted the hunt as well...” He said. “But only as the leader of Hydra. I am still your friend. I will not turn you over. This is my decision and I will be responsible for it alone. In the unlikely event that I fail and you are caught, I will take the full responsibility for my own actions in betraying the Academy.”
“What will they do to you?” I looked up at him, concerned.
“Let me worry about that. You think this is the first time I’ve played two sides?” He glanced at me, the street lamps reflecting off his sunglasses.
I sat back, silent.
He glanced into the rearview mirror and smiled at the sleeping child.
After about an hour and a half, we pulled in front of an internet cafe and inn. He parked and pulled out his phone, speaking in low but commanding tones in rapid Japanese.
One by one, all the shops on the street began to turn their open signs over. Lights went out. In the inn, people were milling about the exits until a man, presumably the owner, opened the doors and let out the staff. Crow opened his car door to get out. I craned my neck to see. Crow was laughing and patting the cafe owner’s shoulder before waving goodbye.
Within a few minutes, the entire street was clear.
Crow returned to the car, leaned inside it and laid onto the horn. Frantic, I flailed at him. “What are you DOING?!”
Ru’Yi startled awake and began to cry. He looked horrified at his blunder while I crawled into the back seat to get her out and comfort her. Crow chuckled. “Oops...”
When I turned and looked again, I saw him waving at someone in the upper floors of the building. I looked down at the sobbing baby and shushed her. She calmed almost immediately, much to my relief.
Crow opened his trench coat wide. “Long time, no talk? Look, no weapons!”
Then he opened the back door and let me out.
I held Ru’Yi to myself as we passed through the corridor. All the rooms in the inn were empty.
Crow stopped in front of me. He faced off with a serious-faced Mingfei. Nono stood behind him.
“Carli!” Mingfei exclaimed. He reached out to me, but Crow’s arm extended in front of me, preventing me from moving forward. Mingfei’s jaw clenched, his eyes narrowing.
I hadn’t seen Nono since she left for Italy over a year ago. She was still as beautiful as ever, not aged a day. But she only glanced at me, unsmiling, clutching a submachine gun.
Crow introduced himself first, giving a slight bow. “Saeki Ryuuji, the current Acting Director of the Japanese Executive Department. I fought beside you once, Mr. Lu.”
Mingfei slid a large dagger from his coat sleeve to his hand, unmoved by such nostalgia. I winced, taking a step back. I’d never seen such a killer look in MIngfei’s eyes before, like he could strike in an instant and kill this experienced gangster.
Mingfei snarled. “You have deployed at least fifty people near this building. They are all elites of the Japanese Executive Department. You are a White King Hybrid. I don’t take that lightly. You come here using Carli and Ru’Yi as shields... right?”
Mingfei’s eyes shifted upward, as though to look through the ceiling. “Oh, and there is a helicopter too, right? There are not many tall buildings nearby, and a sniper doesn’t have a good position. It is different if a helicopter is dispatched. Best to have a good sniper to tie up loose ends.”
My eyes widened. Was this really Mingfei?
Crow seemed to agree. “You weren’t this good before.” He nodded, admitting it. “This time the newly formed Crane Group of the Executive Department has been dispatched and it includes many ruthless characters from the Devil Clan. Now you are a real S-class. If we want to catch you, we have to work hard. It would be unwise for me to come empty handed.”
Mingfei glanced at me.
I kept my silence. My pulse was racing but I didn’t move. Like his meet up with me, there was no way for Crow to alert Mingfei of our arrival. With his being this aggressive and jumpy, he likely he would have fled had their been advance notice.
“So we’re no longer friends?” Mingfei asked, looking back at Crow.
“Are you asking me? Or Hydra?”
Mingfei looked confused and then looked at me. I gave him a slight smile and nod.
“When it comes to the Hydra... of course not! The Hydra is part of the Secret Society which you have been accused of betraying! But of course, you and I are friends.” Crow said.
“Is this how the Japanese do things? Only you’re allowed to kill your former brothers? Other people aren’t allowed to kill them?” Nono asked.
Crow seemed to revel in their skepticism. He smiled broadly. “No. I’m going to come into your room, you’re going to assault me and take me prisoner!” Crow sighed. “Nono, Mr. Lu. You’re not disposable friends.”
Nono and Mingfei stood there stunned for a moment. I finally let myself smile more widely.
Nono was still unconvinced. “Hold on. Saeki... Saeki right? This is too complicated and dangerous. If you want us to escape you should have just told us there was danger and we would have left. There’s no need for this!”
Crow sighed again. “You don’t understand my position. If the Hydra is seen as protecting you, we would be in for a confrontation we can’t afford! We knew when you arrived in Tokyo. I knew the location of Carli! We have to pretend to cooperate with Cassell!”
Mingfei was still hesitant.
“There may even be turncoats in the Hydra who would inform the Academy if we even attempted to contact you. So I pretended to keep Carli safe as bait so she could contact me, and I’m pretending to use her now. Do you understand? I’ve made it clear to the Academy that I would not kill you but deliver you alive to them.”
“But just as negotiations were going well...” He suddenly grabbed Mingfei’s arm and held his knife against his own throat! “A reversal! You are fierce fugitive! Not only did I not convince you, but you suddenly caught me! How can a bunch of gangsters take on an S-Grade Ace from the Academy? No one will question it!”
Lu Mingfei just stood there, his hand held by Crow. He looked back at Nono, bewildered.
There was the Mingfei I remembered.
Crow’s eyes widened. “Wait. I forgot. It won’t be convincing unless I look beaten up.”
“What?!” I hissed. “Crow...”
“You uh... might want to turn around for this.” Nono strode forward without hesitation, cracking her knuckles. “This won’t be suitable for children.”
I turned around clasping Ru’Yi to myself. I winced with every crack of her fist against Crow’s skull, every grunt, and hiss. Nono had a chance to vent her frustration and took it, unleashing a series of combos worthy of a professional boxer. Just the sound of it made me want to ring the bell and declare her the winner!
When it was finally over, I looked back. Crow was staggering to his feet, looking like he’d been beaten in a hard fight. “Thank you for... sparing my teeth...” He murmured, wiping the blood from his lips.
He smiled again. “Alright. If you’re ready? We get one chance at this.”
The door opened behind Nono.
My body reacted first at the sight of the person behind the door. I gasped, the air sucking loudly through my teeth. My throat closed and tears blurred my vision. My heart seemed to leap and drop all at once. I let out a loud desperate cry.
Crow turned to me, his sunglasses eskew at my sudden violent emotional outburst. “Eh?”
Nono look behind her. “Chu Zihang! I told you to stay in the room!”
I ran to him. “Johann! Johann!”
Johann’s eyes widened and he backed away.
Mingfei had grabbed me, holding me back. “Easy! Carli! Wait! I need you to listen!”
Johann Chu stared at me with nervousness and fear. I kept pulling away from Mingfei until he had to grab me with both hands. “Carli, stop!”
“JOHANN!” I collapsed to my knees, sobbing uncontrollably, trying to crawl to him, reach for him while still holding Ru’Yi to me.
Nono pulled Johann back into the room.
Johann asked very quietly. “Who is that...?” Before she closed the door.
“Carli! Please... he doesn’t know you.” Mingfei said.
His words. They were like a death knell. A heavy darkness descended on my world.
“I’ll explain later...” Mingfei was holding me, hugging me, murmurring into my ears. “But for now, we need to get out of here.”
He stood up, trying to get me off the floor, but I had no strength to stand.
“What... the hell?” Crow asked. “Mingfei, You need to take me hostage... can that guy carry her? Nono can take the baby.”
Mingfei nodded and knelt next to me again, looking into my eyes.
“Carli. It’s okay. It’ll be okay.” He chuckled, his default reaction to anything that made him anxious. “At least this way, you’ll be able to hug him tight okay?”
He stood up and went back into the inn room. I sat on the floor, staring blankly at the door until it opened. Nono emerged first, taking Ru’Yi from me. Johann knelt next to me and picked me up easily off the floor. I wrapped my arms around his neck, my tears soaking his shirt. “Johann... Johann... I missed you. I missed you.”
I heard Crow loudly protesting. “Mr. Lu! No! Don’t do this! You still have a chance! This will break your own retreat! Aaaaaah!”
Who knew he was such a good actor?
With the farce clearly very convincing, we made our way back to Crow’s red sports car. With Crow driving and Mingfei in front, I was forced to hold Ru’Yi in my lap, putting the carseat in the trunk. Nono sat between Johann and I. She and Mingfei brought cans of beer with them.
I was still too young to drink so she gave me a yogurt.
Johann asked in a meek and quiet voice. “May I have a yogurt drink too?”
Nono obliged.
I couldn’t stop staring at him. His eyes were black, but he wasn’t wearing any contacts. He seemed lonely, nervous and confused.
Nono turned to me and gently explained. “Johann’s mind stopped aging at fifteen. He may look like the man you married, but in his head, he’s just a fifteen year old boy.”

Fandom List And Ships
Updated: 12/9/18
This is the current list of fandoms and pairings that are requestable. It’s a long list (12+ pages), and I can always add more if the need arises. Bolded fandoms are the ones I am currently in the mood to write for, and I will try to update that as much as I can. Italicized fandoms are something I might consider working on soon and can easily be pushed back into.
Please look at this list before requesting something, it’s in the rules.

ACE Cranes India’s leading material handling Equipment Company
Cranes are very much in every industry that requires lifting of heavy loads and construction is one such industry. In case of heavy lifting requirement, crane kits are very important. Different types of cranes have different usage depending on the area and the work for which they are used. The sizes of cranes can range from the small jib cranes, which are found inside a workshop to taller tower cranes used for constructing high-rise buildings. Over the years, the design and functioning of the crane have evolved seeing the demands of various industrial needs.
Farana cranes are a very simple machine with a simple telescope boom on the top or a full-size crane with various attachments. The farana cranes are also known as the hydra cranes, the size of the crane varies from 9 tons to 25 tons. Used to transfer large loads from A to B, to give temporary support to any ongoing works like escalator lowering in a cutout, facade installation, to even the on-site piece-by-piece setting up of tower cranes, lower or raising of large amounts of concrete/blocks/bricks but that’s only till 10meters. The hydra crane series like pick and carry, hydraulic mobile have been the most popular lift and reach equipment in India.
Being hydra cranes manufacturers, ACE CRANES offer a wide range of cranes with different specifications for diverse work. In a material handling industry, hydra cranes are the most used for its power and performance. Hydra cranes are in the form of truck and are classified as a truck-mounted crane. The hydra cranes are powered by an internal hydraulic system in the form of the usual two sets of hydraulic pumps. These pumps give enough strength to the crane to lift heavy weight on a regular basis. ACE proudly considers itself as an amazing farana cranes manufacturer in India.
ACE CRANES has established itself as the leading material handling Equipment Company with various and distinctive machines for a different purpose. The material handling equipment’s offers more flexibility as compared to normal cranes also the technology in modern equipment’s is very much advanced. Modern cranes often coordinate simple systems to achieve complex lifting tasks for human workers.
With every upgrade in technology, more and more new technology machines are coming in the market. New generation machines are coming in the industry with the latest features that will ease up the work for the labor. The new generation cranes manufacturer in India is useful in a wide range industry like engineering, construction, and infrastructure industry. ACE CRANES currently manufacturers these cranes from 9 tons to 25 tons capacity.

The Empire Strikes Back
❝One must always hope when one is desperate, and doubt when one hopes.❞ - Gustave Flaubert
There have been times when the two of them have been apart. Barnes normally left incognito with his gun strapped across his back and MK on another bounty retrieval with blood red lips. Days - sometimes a week - passed between them until they saw each other again. Perhaps it was written in their code, but they were psychically linked. One could not operate nor exist without the other and they both knew that better than anybody else. They’ve been separated before, but not under such violent circumstances.
Barnes vaguely felt her signal across the dark sky. It was faint and flickered like a candle in the night, but it was still there. After the attack on Hoth, he and Sam escaped in Sam’s Redwing and he could only pray that MK and the rest of the team made it out alive. All he could do was hope.
Running a hand through his hair, Barnes sat on a nearby boulder and sighed. He was soaked to the bone after Sam crashed Redwing into a swamp. While Sam made it out dry and unscathed, Barnes wasn’t so fortunate. Some water creature messed with his system and all his files and signals were down and offline. If MK were to transmit a signal to him - let alone attempt to find him - she would be lucky to find anything. Sam had run off to find supplies and some “Coulson” while the assassin was left to his own devices and do something.
With another sigh, Barnes stood and ran straight into a neighboring tree, using his left arm to break his fall. He fell to the ground with a loud grunt and cautiously moved his arm. At least it was now fully in his socket.
He glanced down at the tangled wires sprouting from his forearm and fingers and groaned. It was going to be a long evening.
When she opened her eyes, MK expected to remember their grand escape. Instead, her head throbbed as if someone were drilling into her skull, her limbs as light as feathers and her throat drier than the driest desert. Gritting her teeth, the bounty hunter wiggled her toes and fingers to ease the tension in her joints. Despite their cracks of protest, MK pushed through until her body finally felt like her own again.
With a groan, MK stood and leaned against the wall for support. Oh, now she remembered. Steve had thought it was a brilliant idea to fly the Lady Carter straight into an asteroid belt while fleeing Hoth. Of course, the princess and the captain were bickering as always and MK faintly recalled Rogers mentioning something about shutting everything down.
She blinked and familiarized herself with her surroundings. No, she was in the back and in front of the hyperdrive. She must have fallen and hit her head during the chase, but everything seemed still and quiet. Perhaps they escaped and found a place to hide for the time being.
MK shook her head and rolled up her sleeves. “Oh, where the hell is Bucky when I need him?”
The attack, MK clearly remembered. Sam had gone out to investigate a fallen meteorite, only to discover it was a tracker from HYDRA. The Empire attacked and their crew separated not long after the first Walker struck their hidden base. She and Barnes have parted ways before on different missions, but never under a siege.
Whistling, she leaned forward into the control panel. Usually, Barnes would have sent a message to tell her that he was okay, but she felt nothing, not even a distant signal of his existence.
Before dark thoughts could evade her mind, MK shook her head and stepped back as the panel whistled in return. He and Sam could take care of themselves and sometimes, one or the other might have been knocked out. Hell, her head still felt tender after her fall. All she could do now was fix her had and work on the panel before sending him a signal.
Within a heartbeat, the panel was as good as new. With a beaming smile, MK walked down the hall and nodded at Dodger in greeting. With a bounce in her step, she found the captain and reported rather excitedly, “Captain! I’ve isolated the reverse power flux coupling.”
He turned and oh, oh.
Shit.
The princess stood behind him, her cheeks flushed and lips swollen as she turned away. Stunned, MK observed the Captain’s messy blonde hair and –
Holy shit.
“Thank you,” he smiled, his voice strained as he masked his annoyance. “Thank you very much.”
“O-oh, um,” she stammered, embarrassed to have walked in on them. “You’re perfectly welcome, Cap.”
Shooting a look over her shoulder, Chrissy glared as MK merely quirked a brow and smirked.
Don’t you even dare.
***
It has been a total of three days, two nights, fifteen hours and twenty-three minutes since they crashed into Dagobah. However, it has been a total of two days, one night, sixteen hours and forty-one minutes since Sam met and began training with the Jedi Master Coulson. While the young Jedi had a bit of a (literal) blast, Barnes spent his time occupied with something else.
For Barnes, it has been a total of three days, two nights, seventeen hours and fifty-four minutes since he last saw, heard, and felt his partner’s link. It has also been a total of three days, two nights, sixteen hours and two minutes since his files were offline. The soldier spent a sum of twenty seven hours and thirty-two minutes to repair his drive. Luckily (or perhaps he was aided by the Force), 72% of his system was operational and had a weak connection online. Although it was better than being completely offline, Barnes repeatedly shut down until Sam recited Barnes’ activation code every hour because his system overheated.
Needless to say, JB-Barnes-91 was pissed.
Biting his lip, Barnes slammed his left hand back into place. A thunderous crack reverberated through the air and he grunted at the impact. It was the nth time he plugged his hand back into his arm, but the bloody thing had the audacity to fall off each time. Coulson barely had enough supplies for him to get by, let alone repair a malfunctioning cyborg.
Frustrated, he stood and brushed the sweat off his forehead with a towel. On the bright side, he received a message from MK earlier that morning. Her signal was stronger from after the crash, but his comms broke down each time he tried to respond back. MK sent the text two days ago and he only received it less than four hours ago. He spent a majority of the morning repairing his comms. While he had more than half of it fixed, he still had a long way to go.
At least Sam made some progress with Coulson. The Jedi became stronger in his tasks through training and whatever else he did with the Master. Barnes never strayed far from their sessions. Currently, the three of them resided right beside the crash site. The poor aircraft was halfway submerged in the murky water, but it was better than having it sink to the bottom of that boiling swamp.
“Any luck in reaching them?” asked Sam a few minutes later.
Barnes shook his head. “My comms are still down, but the rest of our team are okay.”
Sam nodded, but his brows furrowed.
The assassin frowned. “What is it?”
“I just have this feeling that something bad is going to happen. I can’t shake it.”
The two men fell quiet for a moment, listening to Coulson walk on broken twigs behind their shoulders.
After a minute, Barnes inquired, “when you’re done with your training and we can finally leave this place, can I ask you for a favor?”
“Yeah, shoot.”
A small grin spread across his lips. “Can you move your seat up?”
The Jedi narrowed his eyes at him. “No.”
Not everyone can say that they survived hiding in an asteroid belt. The asteroid belt - any asteroid belt, for that matter - was No Man’s Land. Forbidden. Hell. Taboo. A place no one dared venture to out of fear and of the unknown. The belt was terrifying, but miraculously, they survived before they were eaten alive.
Rubbing the back of her head, MK arched her back and groaned at the cracking muscles. Aces, she could not remember a single thing from their escape. Other than turbulent asteroids, a horrifying asteroid creature (she shuddered at the thought) and an argument with the captain, there was nothing else her mind could recall. This was not the first time the bounty hunter blacked out during a chase; rather, it was common for her body to shut down when certain neurotransmitters were too high and flooded her system, or when under certain conditions (such as navigating through rugged terrain) she would pass out.
At least this time, her head lacked the awful throbbing when she first woke up in front of the broken hyperdrive.
Craning her neck, the brunette tapped her temple and browsed through her comms. Within the past few hours before she was knocked out, she felt Barnes’ presence spark through her system. It was faint, but it was more than enough to reassure the team that he and Sam were still alive. His trace flared stronger than when they first parted back at Hoth, but it still felt obscure. She tried to access his files but they only appeared in fragments, much like missing words failing to complete a sentence. That was better than nothing, but her worry had yet to cease.
Or maybe Sam implanted a virus into his system. MK mused as she bit her lip. Barnes and Sam were constantly bickering the moment the two of them were left alone. And most people thought that Chrissy and Captain Rogers argued the most, they were dethroned by the cyborg and apprenticed Jedi.
Finding nothing from Barnes, MK stood and walked straight into the main room, stunned to find the captain and the princess sitting in silence as Dodger slept behind them.
But that was not the only thing that caught her attention.
Rather than looking at the black galaxy, she saw pastels of blue, gold, and pink. The sun settled high above the horizon as clouds of white drifted like white parachutes around them. She gasped as birds flew across the sky. The city was beautiful; the last time she saw colors like this, it was back before she and Barnes met Sam and Thor back on Tatooine. That was three years ago, but she remembered it as if it were yesterday.
She jumped at the sound of the intercom commanding them to not deviate from their course.
“Rather touchy, aren’t they?” The droid observed as she leaned against the back of the princess’ chair. “Do you even have a landing permit?”
Chrissy frowned. “I thought you knew this person.”
Dodger growled. The captain rolled his eyes.
“Well, that was a long time ago. I’m sure he’s forgotten about that.” He snapped off the intercom once they received permission to land. “There’s nothing to worry about. We go way back, Howard and me.”
The princess whispered quietly, low enough so that only her droid could hear.
“Who’s worried?”
***
Finally, oh, finally, thank the Jedis, his system was fully online. Barnes should have been jumping and weeping for joy that his system was fixed, but no, he was a far cry from happiness.
Instead, he found himself frantically fixing the engines so that they could leave that blasted planet.
Behind him, he heard Sam yelling at Coulson and God knows who else he was talking to. Not even fifteen minutes ago, Barnes rebooted his entire system and arm twice before he was fully operational. Once the message was broadcasted on his lenses, he screamed so loud that Sam accidentally dropped Coulson into the swamp at the sudden noise. The Jedi Master was not too pleased.
Barnes was not too familiar with the Force. Nearly 27% cyborg, he was mostly human and felt some sensitivity in the air around him, but it was far from the Force. Ever since he became cyborg after his planet’s Galactic War years ago, a different man emerged from inside. He received a new arm and an upgrade to his system after he nearly lost his head from when he fell, but years later, his body felt foreign. Yeah, he was more sensitive to the changes in the atmosphere, but one thing he seemed to pick up on was human emotion. From where he sat organizing the dashboard in the pilot’s seat, the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end. Sam was a complete mess and very rarely was the bastard like this.
Once he connected the wires, Barnes stood and strode towards Sam as the air grew thick around him. His throat grew heavy and dry, his eyes stinging and his legs weak with each step as he walked up the hill. He opened his mouth to speak, but then he heard them.
MK. Steve. Chrissy. They were all screaming in agony, begging and pleading for mercy. A booming voice cackled above their cries. He never met Vader, but he heard enough to make his blood boil.
Blinking rapidly, Barnes shook his head. His vision cleared and their voices faded as Sam argued with Coulson for the fifteenth time about why he needed to find the rest of the crew.
“They must be stopped, yes,” Coulson agreed, “Only a fully trained Jedi Knight with the Force as his ally will conquer Vader and his Emperor. If you end your training now, if you choose the quick and easy path as Vader did, you will become an agent of evil.”
Sam gaped at him, his eyes wide as his voice rose. “And sacrifice Steve, Chrissy, and Thomas?!”
“If you honor what they fight for, yes!”
Barnes stared as Sam shook his head and turned to him.
“Barnes, fire up the converters.”
The assassin nodded and turned as their voices began to fade. With a hopeful sigh, he tapped his temple and whispered.
We’re coming for you. Be careful and stay safe.
She once joked that danger was her middle name, but spades, she sure regretted that now. What the hell was she even thinking? Clearly, she wasn’t. Not long after they met Howard Stark, the droid ventured around the place just for giggles and out of her burning curiosity. The former princess of Alderaan remained skeptical, her demeanor cold and stiff around Stark despite Steve’s reassurance. Even the droid herself felt something odd in the air, but pushed that aside as they left her to her own devices. The other droids once talked about visiting Cloud City because of its clouds and beauty for as long as she could remember. Now that she finally had the chance, Chrissy and Steve allowed her and Dodger to explore the place for a little while.
But then she heard a whistle that sounded all too familiar, as if Barnes were beside her and not some foreign planet across the galaxy. Deprived of any connection she tried to find over the past few days, her instinct forced her to follow the sound.
Some idiot found it smart to shoot a blaster right in the center of her chest. Naturally, some of her limbs flew across the room and she could only hope her fist collided with the shooter’s face at one point before she blacked out. Hasn’t she blacked out enough already?
Up above, the ghost of the Jedis must be laughing their butts off and MK was more than ready to make them pay once she was put back together. Luckily Dodger found her and made haste to assemble her back into one piece, but something felt off. Even before landing, she and Chrissy felt a shift in the atmosphere. Something bad was going to happen and obviously, blacking out for the third time within the past four or five days was one of the things on that list. As Dodger coordinated her, she finally knew why.
The Imperial Army was everywhere. A sea of black and white as crimson lasers bounced across the halls and corridors. Thank goodness her hair was tied back, otherwise she would have emerged bald on the other side.
The bounty hunter stared, her bright eyes wide. “Stormtroopers? Here?!” As if things couldn’t get any worse.
Perhaps she spoke so soon.
They finally crashed into a dark room surrounded by Stormtroopers. Just as MK finally had her legs fully functional and in place, she and Dodger were seized and held captive in their grip. Her right arm dangled slightly, her forearm limp and held by a handful of wires that sparked each time she tried to move. Resistance was futile at this point, but dark clouds burst in the corner of her eyes. If she blacked out one more time, she was going to kill somebody until a hand forced her head forward and -
Aces, there was a shit ton of screaming.
Dodger howled as a plethora of voices argued, shouted, and yelled over and at each other. Her head throbbed at the cacophony drilling into her skull. She could barely distinguish the voices as the darkness slowly floated in front of her eyes amid a sea of white and red. MK adjusted to a variety of temperatures, but damn, her lungs flooded in heat as she tried to breathe in whatever room she was captive in.
And then she heard them, her friends farewell. I love you. I know.
The brunette shut her eyes and braced herself for what was to come.
***
Once upon a time, he loved the thrill. Heart pounding, blood roaring, adrenaline coursing through his veins, stars, it was then he felt alive. He practically lived for it; once the war ended on his old planet, Barnes wanted more. Barnes once teased MK that she stole his middle name but in all honesty, Barnes was twice as likely to launch himself behind a gun and shoot without hesitation. It was almost as if it was programmed in blood to just act now and think later, but God knows that desperate times call for desperate measures.
He could only pray that the others were okay. Ever since he and Sam landed, he never heard a word from MK. And that drove him even more to the edge each time he shot at the red HYDRA heads in the halls.
Pressing his back against the wall, Barnes crouched low to the ground, his neck craned over his shoulder as he waited. Down the corridor, a band of Stormtroopers stalked in the opposite direction and guarded the block of carbonite that made his blood boil at the sight. Reloading his gun, the assassin moved forward with one knee on the ground and turned.
One Mississippi. Two Mississippi. Three Mississippi. Shoot.
The Trooper fell to the ground like an apple shaken from a tree.
The brunet cursed as he withdrew back into the crevice where he hid the wall in front of him blazed from the retaliating beam. Biting his tongue, he stood and aimed the gun at the remaining trooper.
Four Mississippi. Five Mississippi. Six Mississippi. Shoot.
His ears bled as the alarms screeched over his head. Sprinting down the corridor, Barnes reloaded his gun and turned over his shoulder each time a chill scratched at the back of his neck. A flurry of crimson beams flew beside him, but the assassin calculated their moves before he could breathe. Right, left, shoot. With each turn and entry way, his winter blues flickered for any sign of his familiarity. The damn Troopers tore him from his friends. Somewhere, Vader lurked and Barnes did not even want to think about what that bastard was doing.
At the approaching door, Barnes shot the handle and kicked it down just to see the sight of his friends with their guns pointed at his chest.
His heart leapt to his throat as her blazing blue eyes found his.
***
So this is how the world ends. Not with a bang, but in a whimper.
Her eyes fluttered shut. Hours ago, they nearly escaped the clutches of the Empire. The bounty hunter lost count of how many bruises, scrapes, and cuts that decorated her body. Only minutes ago did Barnes fully and properly assembled her body back together, but despite the rapid neural and electrical connections coursing through her body, her chest felt heavy and hollow all at once. She could finally breathe, but her lungs drew the air in so painfully like knives stabbing at her insides.
Crossing her arms, MK walked towards the window. The stars glistened across the dark sky as clouds of pastel colors drifted around them. Long before she became a bounty hunter, she remembered her first master, a kind woman who told her the stars, moons, and constellations across her galaxy. The little droid latched onto her master’s words as if they were the Scriptures themselves and followed her footsteps wherever she went. There were days and nights when her mind wandered to places she had not thought of in years and that terrified her.
A red notification blurs in the corner of her eye. Blinking rapidly, MK tapped at her temple and smiled lightly.
Did I ever tell you how beautiful you look?
Shaking her head, MK sighed wistfully. Only when you want something from me.
A heartbeat later, strong arms wrapped around her waist, his warm breath tickling her neck as he rested his head against her shoulder.
“Hey,” Bucky whispered. His thumb stroked her bruised knuckles as she leaned against him. “You okay?”
“I’m fine.” Her red lips curved into a smile as he pressed a kiss to her hand. “And yourself?”
“Better now that you’re here.”
MK rolled her eyes. “You’re an idiot, you know that, right?”
The cyborg laughed as he kissed her cheek. “I know doll, I know.”
A spark of white sparked before her eyes. The Lady Carter drifted before them before disappearing into the distance.
“We’ll find him,” He whispered.
His warm hand squeezed hers as she closed her eyes. I know.
May God have mercy on my enemies, for I sure as Hell won’t.
When you first told me you were writing me fanfiction for my birthday, I thought “aww she’ll probably write something really sweet, like Bucky x reader fluff.” I was NOT expecting you to make me C3PO and Bucky R2! (And yourself Princess Leia?!) But I loved that you fleshed out our idea for an alternate Star Wars universe and I can tell you worked so hard on this. Thank you Chrissy! ❤

Risky Rescue
-Steve's POV-
By late afternoon we had made it to interior of the US. camp and made our way to Colonel Phillips tent. A Corporal types. At a desk across the tent, Colonel Phillips signs a stack of letters. I barrel in, Peggy walking right behind me.
"Well, if it isn't 'the starspangled
man with the plan.'What is your plan exactly?" Said the Colonel.
"Azzano. I want to see the casualty
list." I said sternly.
Colonel Phillips points to the RANK INSIGNIA ON HIS COLLAR.
"You don't get to give me orders,
'Captain.'!" The Colonel Phillips said glaring at me.
"I don't need the whole list. Just
one name. Sergeant James Barnes from the 107th" I said with a sigh.
"You and I are going to have a conversation later that you won't enjoy" the Colonel said directing his words toward Peggy.
"Just tell me if he's alive, sir. B-
A-R" I started but was interrupted by the Colonel.
"I know how to spell Rogers." He said with a blank look on his face.
Peggy seems to see my resolve as she turns to the Colonel.
"Sir, Rogers is only on loan to the
USO. Officially, he is still SSR." She says.
Phillips stares at me. Finally, he relents.
"Barnes?" Asked the Colonel.
I nod. Phillips picks up a thick sheaf of letters, leafing through the first few.
"I've signed more condolence letters
today than I'd care to count. But the name does sound familiar. I'm sorry." He sighed.
I feel my face pale, Phillips' words sinking in. I stare at a map of Austria on the wall, alongside aerial photos of a remote facility.
"What about the others? You're
planning a rescue mission?" I asked slightly taken aback at what this man's dictionary apparently forgot... 'No man left behind'.
"Yeah. It's called winning the
war" he grunted out.
"But sir- if you know where they are-." I started.
"They're thirty miles behind the lines. Through some of the most
heavily fortified territory in Europe. We'd lose more men than we'd save. I don't expect you to understand that, because you are just a chorus girl."
" Think I understand pretty well sir." I said determined now more than ever.
"Then understand it somewhere else.
If I read the posters right, you've got some place to be in a half- hour."
"Yes sir, I do." I said with one place in mind. Austria,
Deciding I'd had enough of his attitude and determination to not do the right thing. Thirty miles behind enemy lines.
I whistled for Darcy as she let out a low growl at the Colonel, she followed behind me a few seconds later.
We were going on a rescue mission.
-The next day mid afternoon-
"The Hydra camp is in Krausberg,
tucked between two mountain ranges. It's a factory of some kind." Peggy said sitting across from me as we looked at a map. Howard leans back from the controls.
"We should be able to drop you right
on the doorstep." Said Stark.
"Just get me as close as you can." I say the I turn to Peggy saying, "You know, you're both going to be in a lot of trouble when you land."
"And you're not?" She said knowingly.
"Yeah, but where I'm landing, if
anybody yells at me, I get to shoot them." I smirk.
"They're undoubtedly going to shoot
back."
I show her my shield strapped to my back.
"It's got to be good for something."
"Agent Carter, if we're not in too
much of a hurry, I thought we'd stop in Lucerne for a late night fondue." Howard grins. I'm a little tweaked.
"Why is he saying "fondue" like
that? What's fondue?" I ask in my confusion.
"Stark's the best civilian pilot I've ever seen, and mad enough to brave this airspace. We're lucky to have him." She said.
-Darcy's POV-
"Stark's the best civilian pilot I've ever seen, and mad enough to brave this airspace. We're lucky to have him." Peggy said quietly amused.
"Do you, are you two...fondue?" Steve Asked completely oblivious to the truth.
"Take this transponder. Activate it when you're ready and the signal will lead us right to you." She said regaining her business like poster and tone.
Steve looks at the insignia, 'STARK INDUSTRIES.'
"You sure it works?" Steve Asked.
"It's been tested more than you
have, buddy." Stark says a little to smug.
The plane lurches to the left being shot at. Howard executes evasive maneuvers. Steve straps on his parachute and throws open the jump door.
"Rogers, get back here. We're taking
you all the way in!" Peggy tells him as she begins to put a little wolf parachute made especially for me.
Explosions rock the air as Steve realizes what he's about to do.Another explosion is made. He turns to Peggy and says, "ONCE I'M CLEAR, TURN THIS THING AROUND AND GET OUT OF HERE!"
Peggy yells back, " YOU CAN'T GIVE ME ORDERS!"
"THE HELL I CAN'T!" He braces himself in the doorway. "I'M A CAPTAIN!"
Another shot fired as another explosion rang in the air. The plane lurches once more just as...Steve jumps. I run after him and soon pull the parachute string with my mouth.
-3rd POV-
Search lights sweeps from watchtowers. A barbed Wire fence rings a compound of buildings. A factory belches smoke.
-Inside the factory.-
A Hydra tech loads blue cartridge and into a cluster-bomb, then gently loads the clusterbomb into a nose cone.
"As you see, production is
proceeding faultlessly." Zola explains to Schmidt the success of the power exportation.
Zola and Schmidt walk the factory floor.
Catwalks radiate from a control room overhead. DR. Arnim Zola Even in ordnance of this size.
"Good. Increase output by sixty
percent. See to it our other facilities do the same." Schmidt orders.
"But our...workers. I am not sure
they have the strength." Says Zola.
P.O.W.'S labor at gun point . A giant crane loads bombs onto a rail car.
"Then use what strength they have
left, Doctor. There are always more workers." Schmidt smirks not showing an ounce of humanity.
-outside of factory at the main gate of the compound-
Steve peers out at the guards patrolling the main gate, Darcy following him in her human form, wearing a uniform just like Captain America. They drop as headlights sweep the road. Three covered trucks rumble toward the gate. A gate guard checks the drivers' papers. In the background, Steve and Darcy sneak into the last truck.
The trucks roll into the compound, gates closing behind them. GUARDS hurry out to unload the trucks.
At the last truck, one guard peers in curious. A red, white and blue shield stands amongst the supplies. The shield springs out smashing him in the face. The guard clutches at his nose feeling it broken. Darcy drop kicks him in the groin and punches him dead between the eyes as the guard drops. Steve and Darcy emerge from the darkness.
Once the vehicle enters the compound Steve and Darcy jump out of the back of the vehicle and stay under the cover of the darkness. They use the light of the dimly lit sky to see where they're going.
Across from them about 14 feet away.
Hydra guards prod P.O.W.'S across the compound. Steve and Darcy follow, keeping to the shadows. At the barracks, one guard stands watch as the other leads the prisoners inside...
-in the Barracks-
A warden opens a cage and prods the prisoner in. A prisoner in a hat bring up the rear, slow. The warden hits him with a truncheon, knocking off his bowler. The prisoner picks up his hat and puts it back on. the super duo see it's Dum Dum Dugan He stares at the Warden.
"You know, Fritz, one of these days,
I'm gonna get my own stick."
The warder viciously kicks Dugan inside. Down hundred more prisoners are trapped in a the dozen. With multiple rows, and more cages.
The guard steps out to find his partner sleeping against the wall with his helmet over his eyes. He kicks him, but the guard doesn't move. He lifts his partner's helmet to see...he's out cold.
Steve steps up behind him with a truncheon. And knocks the guard upside the head with it. Darcy goes ahead stealthily making her way to the cages.
Four prisoners, Falsworth, Jones, Dernier and Dugan slump on the floor of their cage, exhausted. The warden on the upper floor makes his rounds. He passes out of sight. Then Steve gets spotted as Darcy comes up behind the warden and hits him upside the head. The warden drops on top of the cage, unconscious. The prisoners jump up as Darcy looks down at them and motions for Steve to come over.
"Hello" she says. As Steve comes to her side and waves.
The prisoners stare, stunned. Jones raises an eyebrow at Steve's outfit and shield.
The prisoners' excitement dies.
"And who the hell are you supposed
to be?" Said Jones.
"I'm...Captain America. And this is Wynter."
"Merde." Said Dernier.
-Darcy POV-
We then free them and they began to feee the others. As we also begin to free them. I in particular was looking for one person though. The person who had captured my heart and refused to let it free. The person who conquered my mind and wouldn't let it go. James Buchanan Barnes. The one man who had won me over in so little time. It's been years since I've seen him. And before Steve left, it had only been months...
Freed prisoners follow Steve as he makes his way down the row, opening cages with the guard's keys. I free some of the others with a bobby pin Peggy had given me for my hair. Steve releases Falsworth, Jones, Dernier and Dugan. Dugan spots A Japanese- American Soldier, Morita, already free.
"What, are we taking everybody?" Said Dugan.
"I'm from Fresno, Ace." Morita said with snark in his voice.
Steve searches the throng of prisoners. As I continue looking through the cages for anyone left behind.
"Are there any others?" Steve Asked.
"They did take a number of the men
to isolation ward. I'm afraid we haven't seen them since." Said Falsworth.
I see Steve considers this as the prisoners gather round. Finally, he hands them a pistol and grenades.
"The tree line's northwest, about 80
yards from the gate. From there, just follow the creek bed." Steve informed them.
"We'll meet you in the clearing with anybody we find inside." I continued for him.
Jones stops us. "Wait. You sure you know what you're doing?"
"Sure. I've knocked out Adolph
Hitler over 200 times." Steve says moving out as I follow.
Steve circles the factory, looking for a way in. While I transformed into my wolf. I sniffed at the snow for any scent to find a way in.
-in the factory-
-3rd POV-
A Hydra guard stands watch near a door. He hears tapping. A silhouette appears behind the glass. The guard cautiously opens the door and pokes his head out.
"Ja?" Said the hydra guard.
The door slams, pinning his head. The guard looks up to see Steve's fist coming right at him. He's knocked out cold but Darcy shoots him using a muffler for good measure. They enter the factory, creeping between bombs and crates. Clusters of cartridges bristle inside an unfinished bomb. Steve pulls one out, curious, It glows blue in his hand. He pockets the cartridge and heads for the stairs with Darcy following right behind him.
A guard rushes down the stairs, his jackboots almost crushing Steve's fingers as Steve hangs under the staircase. The guard raises his gun about to shoot Darcy but Steve yanks the guard's ankle. He tumbles down the stairs.
The duo step onto a catwalk, only to be met by another guard pointing a pistol. Steve knocks the gun from his hand and smashes him in the face. The guard falls, flips back up and charges. Steve swings from a beam and kicks the guard in the chest causing him to fall down. As the guard gets back up Darcy roundhouse kicks him in the knees causing them to give in. He falls over the railing and onto the floor below.
Steve looks over the factory floor, taking in the full scale of the bomb-making facility. Just then...TWO MORE SOLDIERS ATTACK FROM EITHER SIDE. The first guard fires. Steve drops and shoots him down. The second guard closes in. Steve whirls and crushes his neck with the side of his shield. Darcy only being able to watch as Steve moved too quickly for her to react.
He then takes on three guards. As four more come forward lunging at Darcy. She ducks and swings a mean left hook into one of their jaws causing him to stumble back. She kicks another in the crotch. Him on his knees she takes her gun and shoots him between the eyes. She elbows another in the throat as the third one recovers from his jaw.
Darcy then flips into the air landing on one of the soldiers backs and twists his neck. After that she sees the two soldiers left, running toward her. Darcy jumps up and does a split in the air kicking the two in the head. One goes down while the other stumbles back cursing under his breath in German.
"verdammte Schlampe, ich bring dich selbst um." He said. [damn bitch, I'll kill you myself]
"Hat deine Mutter dir nie gesagt, dass es unhöflich ist, vor einer Dame zu fluchen?" Darcy replies. [didn't your mother ever tell you it's rude to cuss in front of a lady?]
She said kicking him in his knees making him fall on them as she brought her gun to his forehead and took the shot.
Steve hits one guard and kicks another, then uses him to deflect the blast of a third. Steve dispatches the last guard and heads up the stairs leaving Darcy to follow.

Cine Gear Expo: Cool Stuff
Cine Gear Expo, the two-day show on the Paramount lot in Hollywood, is the best place to see industry tools, many of which you’ll be hard-pressed to find at NAB or IBC.
A camera crane and a banner? It must be Cine Gear Expo time again!
Yesterday I covered Cine Gear’s three big camera-related announcements; today I’ll look at some of the other interesting things I ran across or that people steered me to.
Studio air conditioning
It was a toasty weekend in L.A., and this hydra-headed ductwork in Stage 14 helped keep things from getting too hot. See? I promised you “cool stuff”, and I delivered! <rimshot> Thank you, thank you, I’m here all week…
ARRI
ARRI Alexa 65
Alexa 65 is ARRI’s large-format, rental-only camera. The 2.11:1 aspect ratio sensor is 54.12×25.58mm and packs 6560×3100 photosites (by comparison, a “Super35mm” sensor is typically less than 25mm wide and 14mm high). Yes, it’s bigger and heavier and its sensor captures a prodigious amount of data, but its control layout, menus, and workflow are just like those of an Alexa XT. Why mess with success?
ARRI large-format lenses, and one Cooke
More ARRI large-format lenses
ARRI Look Library
A swatch book for looks? The ARRI Look Library is a complete set of 87 Alexa Mini /Amira Premium LUTs spanning a wide variety of looks, and it comes with a swatch book: each look is shown on a head shot, a street scene, and a car image, so you and your director can pick a look you like and load it into camera. Looks come in three different strengths and are tweakble, too. Alexa Minis and Amira Premiums shipped after May 1st already include the Look Library; you can upgrade earlier cameras (once they have SUP 5 installed) for around €280 if I recall correctly. And there’s even an iPhone app—no camera necessary if you just want to, uh, take a look (pun intended).
Lens Evaluation
Stay focused!
The Fujinon booth included a lens projector and Matthew Duclos of Duclos Lenses described how to use a projector to evaluate lenses.
Matthew Duclos adjusting zoom and focus, as seen by the camera…
…and how the scene looked to the eye.
While resolution measurement, brightness falloff, and image circle are easily understood, the projector holds surprises. Any geometric distortion you see on a projector is the inverse of what you’ll see while shooting with that lens: if the projector shows pincushioning, you’ll get barrel distortion instead. It makes sense when you think about it—the projector pushes the light of a rectilinear reticle out through the lens, the camera pulls the light of the real world in.
Lighting
Carpetlight
Carpetlight: the name pretty much sums it up. It’s an array of dimmable bi-color LEDs (daylight/tungsten) on fabric, using conductive threads for power. You can hang it, drape it, even tie it in knots, as with that drape on the right side of the booth.
Carpetlight at full brightness: That’s full sunlight falling on it at the front.
Hive Lighting
Hive Lighting has been providing power-efficient plasma lighting for a while, but the new-this-year WASP 100-C is a 5-color LED fixture. It’s fully dimmable, white-light tweakable from 1650K–8000K (plus any saturated color you’d like in 6º increments), and can be set up manually or over DMX.
WASP 100-C controls
The business end of the WASP
The WASP can drive a mini Source Four front end
You can fit a variety of lenses, reflectors, Chimeras, and other light shapers. The unit runs very cool. It’s about $1000.
LightBlade LEDs
LightBlade LEDs are a co-production of NBCUniversal and Cineo Lighting. From the press release:
At Cine Gear, three different NBCUniversal LightBlade configurations will be on display: the LB50 stand-alone linear source, the LB1K, an integrated 4′ x 4′ soft source, and the LightBlade Ladder Light, which continues the familiar form factors of NBCUniversal’s backdrop lighting system. The lightweight 1.5″ x 48″, 50 watt light engines are designed to operate in a variety of physical layouts, including stand-alone operation. NBCUniversal LightBlade products are versatile, lightweight, silent and flicker-free, and built to endure the wear and tear of staging and production.
NBCUniversal LightBlade products feature reference-quality variable white light from 2700K to 6500K. They have superior color rendering with typical CRI>90, R9>95, and a saturated color engine that works creatively with high-CRI white light. Additional products are being developed for use on location and on stage.
Yes, there’s a website, but at press time it only had three bullet points and a phone number. Presumably there will be more posted once products get closer to shipment.
And it wasn’t just LightBlade and the WASP; high-output, high-saturation, variable-color (yet tunable for “white” light) LEDs in sticks, tubes, blobs, and panels were all over the show.
Cameras & Rigs
Redrock Micro Retroflex / Sony A5100 (?) / Veydra 50mm
I always get a kick out of Redrock Micro’s Retroflex rigs. They convert small, EVF-less hybrid cameras into eye-level Super8-styled shooters.
Panaflex Platinum loading demo
The S.O.C. gave loading demos on a Panaflex Platinum. Film loading is still a useful skill… but for how much longer will that be true?
Zacuto GH5 cage (with optional top handle)
I’m usually ambivalent about Zacuto rigging, but they’ve done it right with this GH5 cage. With the accessory shoe unavailable (it’s where the GH5’s XLR adapter attaches), many hybrid camera cages use the 1/4″x20 tripod socket as their sole mounting point, with perhaps a couple of additional points of contact to keep the camera from rotating. But that’s not enough to prevent “oilcanning”, the flexing of the camera on its mounting point. What to do?
Zacuto GH5 cage left side
Zacuto GH5 cage right side
Zacuto adds two more hardpoints, bolted to the carry-strap eyelets, for a rigid three-point mount. That is how it’s Supposed To Be Done. As a bonus, the right grip is left unobstructed for a comfortable handhold; you can fly the caged GH5 at eye level about as easily as an uncaged GH5. Well done.
Steadicam M-1 Volt
The Steadicam M-1 Volt marries the passive inertial stabilization of the M-1 with the active servo stabilization of the Volt. It flies just like a normal Steadicam, but when you’re hands-off, it holds its orientation, without bobble or drift.
The inertial brains live in that slab beneath the power distro
Simple controls, tweakable on the fly
Roll and pitch servos gently keep the camera aimed yet allow the usual inputs when you want to steer
Mark Weingartner told me he thought it was likely the most significant advance in Steadicams since, um, the original Steadicam itself. I tend to agree.
Chin-cam from Radiant Images
I don’t know what it’s really called, but this odd rig captures the P.O.V. of your chin and feeds a Codex recorder on a backpack frame. It’s the sort of oddball rig that Radiant Images seems to specialize in.
Lunch
Death by chocolate-dipped strawberries
It’s not a proper shoot—or a show—without craft services. Ingallina’s Box Lunch handed out samples; I enjoyed a fresh and tasty pesto tortellini / mozzarella / tomato skewer.
Daylight Displays and HDR
SmallHD 3203 HDR. 32 inches, 1500 nits
SmallHD and Boland were showing field monitors in full sunlight.
I should also mention that Canon showed two HDR displays—inside, not in sunlight—including one that peaked at 2000 nits and could maintain that level across the entire screen, without dimming. Freaking gorgeous—as it should be, for $50,000.
Canon ran an HDR demo reel in which every single shot was properly graded: high brightness and wide color were used as accents, and no shot was “turned up to 11” just because it could be. Seeing HDR used with that level of restraint gives me hope for the future.
More Anamorphics
Atlas Orion anamorphic image, shot off a monitor
Anamorphics, cheap? Atlas Lens Co. showed their first Orions, a set of three 2x anamorphic primes for $8000 each ($24,000 for the set). The lenses cover Alexa open gate, open to T2, and focus down to 2.75 feet (40mm and 65mm) or 3.3 feet (100mm).
Orion 65mm on a GH5 via PL-to-MFT adapter
I pixel-peeped the lens on the GH5 using focus mag. Plenty of character, but not too much. Not quite as crisp as a Cooke but consistent at all apertures, so you won’t need to stop down for sharpness. That means plenty of shallow-focus, wide-aperture oval bokeh to enjoy. PL or EF mount, interchangeable. And if that’s not enough, three additional focal lengths are under design, too. Sweet.
DIT-Cart-In-A-Box
Acromove ThunderPack
Acromove is the new identity for Athens, Greece-based Motion FX. The ThunderPack line is a range of DIT-cart-in-a-Pelican-case products: power, storage, I/O, and networking in a robust carry-on form factor.

Li-ion batteries are caged on the left, with disconnect switches allowing air transport. Weather-shielded connectors allow video and data I/O, power in and out, Thunderbolt, Ethernet, SAS, HDMI, etc. Two antennas provide a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Acromove ThunderPack with solar-power array
This particular pack runs full-tilt for about six hours on battery power alone while driving a MacBook Pro, LTO drive, and card reader. With the solar panel for trickle-charging, it’ll run all day long. You can also feed it AC if you have that luxury.

Panavision
Panavision HDR EVF
Panavision demonstrated an HDR EVF for the Millenium DXL camera. The OLED EVF peak around 600 nits and can maintain 300 nits across the entire screen. It looks fabulous—more importantly, it brings the HDR viewing experience directly to the camera, so the DP or operator can see the effect that really bright wall sconce in the background has on the perception of the picture.
PX-Pro color filter demo: unfiltered spectrum above, filtered below
Panavision also showed their PX-Pro color spectrum filter, the spectral shaping filter—doing things like cutting excess IR—used in front of the sensor. The PX-Pro uses absorptive dyes, not reflective layers, so it’s much less prone to angular color shifts, as the demo above shows. Panavision extols the PX-Pro’s characteristics of making “colors appear smoother and have more transition with less red contamination. This is very helpful in tertiary and complex colors in skin tones as well as improved transitions in lens flares and shadow-to-light gradients.”
Panavision Millenium DXL
Both the HDR EVF and the PX-Pro are used on the Millenium DXL, Panavision’s large-format production camera introduced last year. Michael Cioni tells me there are now “several dozen” of these cameras in daily use.
DJI
DJI Spark responding to hand gestures
DJI’s new Spark drone was a crowd-pleaser with its gestural interface. The $500 Spark is more of a consumer item than a pro cine tool, but it was still fun to see it respond like a well-trained dog, rising and falling on command and settling gently onto an upturned palm.
RED
RED No. 13, because it’s not a proper show unless there’s some weird and scary-looking RED camera somewhere
RED was in Stage 2 along with DJI and Panavision, and RED is probably why there were waiting lines to get in; the fire marshal didn’t want an overcrowded venue.

AirHollywood
AirHollywood aircraft cabin
AirHollywood brought an aircraft cabin to the Paramount lot.
AirHollywood aircraft cabin, reverse angle
AirHollywood aircraft cabin, exterior view
Yes, it’s a cabin built onto a flatbed: why go to the set when you can have the set come to you?
If you’re prefer to go to the set, AirHollywood has aircraft-themed shooting stages in the LA area, Victorville CA, and Atlanta GA. And when you’re done shooting, take a trip back to the “decadence of the 1970s” with the Pan Am Experience. I am not making this stuff up.
End Credits
A tip of the hat to Jim Rolin of Videofax for the tipoffs on the ARRI Look Library and Atlas Orion lenses (Videofax has orders in for the Orions), and to Mark Weingartner, ASC regarding the Steadicam M-1 Volt. Thanks, guys!
As to the hat being tipped, maybe it’s this one…
Disclosure: I went to Cine Gear Expo on my own dime (actually, it cost a considerable number of dimes once flights, hotel, and car were included). There’s no relationship between me and any of the companies mentioned, and no one paid me anything for coverage. However, as the Ingallina folks gave me free food, I figured I should at least include a picture of their dessert strawberries.
