IB Business Management - Case Study Analysis
Here it is, the moment all IB Business Management students have been waiting for, the pre-release case study for the exam in November 2019.
First of all, let's remind ourselves of the syllabus outline. I use this method to categorise the Business Management content that could be used in the case study. Note: Categorisation is always a good place to start when conducting a business analysis task

Step 1 - Read the case study once, without anything else in your mind.
Step 2 - Read the case study again, this time with a pen and paper and make a note of any items in the case study that match the IB Business Management syllabus.  I do this by writing the unit number.   e.g. I simply write 2.2 next to a sentence or section that contains information about Organisational structure
Step 3 - Complete a table (see below) that shows both (a) the most frequently occurring syllabus content and (b) my initial thoughts on how the case study can be applied to the content.
e.g. (a) Sources of finance (b) The government doesn't have enough funds to support athletes so the athletes have to find other methods of raising finance so they can compete in competitions.

Once this process has been completed you'll have a deeper understanding of the case study, and instead of relying on your powers of memory, you'll have an organised document full of your thoughts that you can start to analyse.  At this stage, you should be working back through your notes from lessons and re-reading the sections of the textbook that apply to the case study.
Keep your eyes peeled for the next blog post which will give you the result of my efforts to analyse this case study in preparation for my students.
Remember: I am not responsible for writing the final Paper 1 exam so whatever I write in this blog is only my personal analysis of the case study - you should also be doing your own analysis and listening to your teacher.
