I’m gonna close the askbox soon for the time being, I’m getting a little overwhelmed and there have been some recent instances that have made me feel a little uncomfortable. Vent below but fair warning I get a little critical

TL;DR: you are not entitled to my askbox responses, please do not talk at me in tumblr dms, I am not your friend, please don’t come to me seeking personal validation and please do not be parasocial with me

This may sound extreme to some of you, but I want you to know that even though my askbox is open for people to ask me questions about crk and baau, there is no guarantee that I will answer them. I am not obligated to answer everyone’s ask because at the end of the day it’s down to my comfort level and if I feel like answering a specific ask at all, and for some asks I haven’t felt like I can gain much mutual substance from it. I can hear some people out but I don’t want this blog to turn into a place where you can say anything and be guaranteed a response like this is a DM. I get overwhelmed pretty easily if I feel like I’m being talked at and not talked to. I have had instances where a single person will send me a DM or ask everytime moment I mention something they like, but saying nothing in that ask that I can make an answer to. I highly discourage this behavior for my askbox specifically, as I grow generally uncomfortable because I feel like I’m being talked at. And feeling like im being talked at and not talked to is a huge ick of mine spurred by real life experiences.

And no I am highly unlikely to post privately because I barely use that feature, and then it just goes back to feeling like a DM which I don’t want. I don’t want to open up cans of worms with my askbox. I don’t want people to flood my inbox with X reader requests simply because I answered one ask related to it, I don’t want people to flood my inbox talking about themselves and their lives because I answered a few asks related to it. I don’t want to set any more impressions than I already have, also why i have stopped answering asks like them.

I also just want to say that, to avoid fostering parasocial relationships, I hardly know most of you people, and most of you aren’t my mutuals and friends. I appreciate your support and friendliness but I have a fine line between friend and follower. I don’t make friends through DM spam where someone who i barely know and haven’t interacted with talks about themself to me. I also am not here as an approval machine to validate people’s opinions or thoughts. I feel like some people have been growing parasocial with me which is deeply unsettling. Please do not DM me with random things unless we’ve previously interacted as tumblr and especially discord friends. I only accept questions asking for help, comments about specific things related to me, and general notices about things I should be aware of, like someone stealing my art. Please don’t expect long and/or consistent conversations with me if we are not mutuals and especially if we are not friends. And please do not be someone I barely know coming to me seeking personal validation from me.

I should also add that mutual in this instance means mutual follower, not mutual friend. I see mutual on the same definition as an acquaintance in most instances. I consider us friends if both of us are calling each other friends.

So this means do not send me pictures of you or your pets. I will see it but I am very likely not going to answer.

For BAAU specific questions, I have also had people ask me about why I haven’t answered them and it goes back to A). Their questions may have already been answered previously and B, most importantly,) I don’t answer asks I don’t feel like answering. This latter point is v important to me because the last thing I want is for people to feel entitled to know certain things about my AU. I am, for the most part, a one person team working on this, and I decide what’s known and what’s not. If I feel like something isn’t worth answering for whatever reason I feel, I will not answer it. I’m saying this now to—hopefully—lessen the chance of people expecting responses from me.

Edit: However i can also not answer an ask simply because I am waiting for a good time to respond. Whether that be with a drawing or, for baau specifically, when I am ready to share lore pertaining to it.

Edit 2: I know I can respond quickly at times but the speed of my responses should not be treated as a constant, nor indicative of my interest or engagement as a whole.

Again i greatly appreciate how much support I get, and how many people are interested in my AU and what I have to say, but i want to keep the barrier between myself, my friends, and everyone else. I hope this humbles some of you and I hope you can still enjoy my blog and au as they are, but I want to say here and now that I am someone with their own comfort levels, expectations, and thoughts. I still encourage people to send in asks but I want to set the expectation that I am more likely to answer questions/comments about my au or art, and other asks where I feel like a mutual part of the discussion. But even still I can get rid of asks if I feel like they aren’t needed.

Most of you are cool people who im glad to see in my notes, comment sections, and inboxes, but I also respect people who have some consideration for myself as well. Not everyone knows what and what doesn’t make me uncomfortable which is why I’m saying this now. I hope that everyone here continues to be aware and respectful, and most importantly, patient and understanding.

I will be truthful, I have genuinely not gotten nearly as much flack as other creators have for pointing out the same thing. It’s just that most other creators, when discussing this, have committed the grievous crime of being openly Black… And feeling the effects of that harassment way more, because it tends to hit them like a freight train. So many people checking their tone, shooting their criticism down because they’re openly upset about it and reacting to their harassment, playing dumb, et cetera.

Apparently, so I’ve noticed, people seem to perceive me as white and therefore not having had any connection to any Black person or community at any point in my life… Which is a double-edged sword, because that seems to make a lot more people willing to listen to what I have to say, and also gives some people immediate leeway to ignore the things I am saying, or even accuse me of being “the real racist” for just recognizing that racism is present in the first place.

Hi. I am Native American. I am mixed race. My stepfather since before I was conscious to adulthood was a Black man. I live and grew up in the Bible Belt, in a very racially diverse city. I have known and loved many other people of color. We are brothers in arms. I have known nothing but love, kindness, and acceptance in their communities, and Black kids were the first and fastest ones to accept my Queer identity and help fight for me without question when others refused to respect it. I’ve been the victim of racism, and I’ve also been expected to ignore racism, depending on how I’m perceived in the moment.

I think I have a far more complex relationship with race than a lot of people seem to perceive of me, judging by some cute little comments I’ve received.

How dare anyone respond to someone pointing out racism by throwing all the gotchas they can think of at them without even bothering to do any self reflection as to why they’re so hellbent on ignoring their points? Why? Just for their own personal momentary comfort? That’s far whiter than saying that a known Anti-Black Racist did another Anti-Black Racism when he practically ran through the Wikipedia article for Anti-Black Stereotypes as his inspiration for a character while actively being in a phase of his life where he was casually dropping the N-Word.

I think the most ironic thing is how people will jump to calling me white. For what? What triggers that? They don’t even realize that they’re doing a funny little Blood Quantum check. That, like, Turbo Racism. Calling me white is not only not true, it’s a tool of Genocide. Very cute. Very quirky.

I think it's worth noting the sheer amount of shit that tartar went through I WILL PREFACE THIS BY SAYING THAT NOTHING MAKES ATTEMPTED OMNICIDE AND EUGENICS MORALLY RIGHT OR ACCEPTABLE ✋ the professor essentially hoisted emotion and the collective knowledge of humanity as a whole onto a machine that was then guaranteed to survive to watch everything and everyone it knew die out before being entirely isolated with no other signs of life for 10,000ish years (guesstimating how long it may have took for inkfish to begin developing, anyway) like no wonder it went totally postal. its particularly cosmically ironic knowing what we know now from alterna that inkfish's entire society and way of being was built off the dreams and crystalized memories of the last of humanity. boy what I wouldn't give to see tartar and orca interact. there's a lot of parallel between its motives and grizz's but we still didn't really get enough of his backstory to really get to know him as a character. here's hoping for more grizz lore in the splat3/sideorder equivalent of haikara walker though. i don't really have a thesis or point im trying to make here i just think all of the villains so far have been superb characters and will jump at any chance to share my countless hours over five years of loredigging and thinking about them

also yeah, the "ironic because inkfish are also based on humans" actually fits into the english translation of tartars motivation better

In the original, tartar specifically talks about how inklings would fight pointless turf wars and other inkfish specific qualities and tartar reveres the humans and his goal is to bring them back

In the English translation, Tartar criticizes the inklings for basically the same bad shit humans did, and instead wishes to bring a new race into existence. I think the splatoon 3 lore fits this one better.

i'm jumping the veto order on this one a little lol because. at the risk of people being passive aggressive and hit dog hollering in my notes, which is what happens every time i express my opinion about this movie, it's a bad adaptation of the source material! why is your fucking HIGHSMITH adaptation devoid of the intense crazy passion that lives in her text? why is this movie so fucking cold? why was todd so afraid of going there when i know damn well he can and he HAS. why didn't we let chantal akerman make this movie? she already had the rights! i hate cate blanchett as an actress and i don't like carol!

also, and this is not aimed at you at all anon, i'm now just performing a one woman show in general, but i'm kinda fucking sick of having my intelligence and taste questioned when i say that i don't like carol. do you know how many interactions i've had in the almost decade since this film came out where someone has heard me (mildly, gently) express my dislike for it, and basically fire back with "wow, that's a take" or "that's just incorrect" or "i really respected your opinions but now...." and it's like. how fucking condescending. because i'm a dyke i have to suck it up and accept my crumbs? i can't want better? or i can't just not like a movie for whatever reason? y'all have been doing too much about this movie since the day it premiered at cannes and i'm sick of y'all. take your critically acclaimed movie and leave me out of it!

so, i guess to get back to the prompt at hand lol. when i saw carol i really didn't care for it at all. i think rooney is a great therese, but the above criticisms were present. i kept quiet about this, because i didn't want to yuck everyone's yum, but then people started being really condescending and weird to me about it, and so now i hate this movie. i probably honestly could have come around on it with time and as the (extreme, insane) hype died down, but now that will never happen.

i texted my wife about this too and she says "great score, beautiful soundtrack" lol

cant send this on anon. sad! anyways i think the point of pattons arc is to accept that the others have importance. learning to not bottle up his feelings was the first step to fixing a larger issue about himself, that being that he tries to put all responsibility of himself. and that manifests in a lot of ways, including not respecting the others and their roles.

but then you get to the end of pof, and after janus resigns to being wrong about everything, patton says that they both know that's not true. that to me signifies that something shifted in him after pof. thats him directly recognizing that janus was right. that selfishness was the right choice, that janus is important. and this is a direct consequence of janus pointing out his flaws to him (when he turns back into a human he admits that he doesn't know what hes doing and he cant pretend that he does anymore. which is a direct response to when he resolves to make sure thomas isnt a bad person in svs)

does that mean he's good at it? no. not at all. but i do think hes trying. given that hes already had a major breakdown in a video i cant see the same happening for the finale but he should definitely take time to acknowledge the others roles. maybe he can talk logan/orange down and tell him that the rage he feels is justified and important to thomas? something like that. i would love it if remus got a chance to be involved but i have the bad feeling hes gonna be the designated one dimensional comedic relief. which i kinda get why but also come the fuck on. anyways thats my two cents idk

i absolutely agree with everything you said. this is patton's arc. his arc isn't "i'm too nice and i need to stop being too nice" HELL NO that's not his arc whatsoever and there is no indication of that being his arc even though people constantly pretend that's his arc. NO. his arc is that he needs to learn that he is not the end-all-be-all of thomas' mind, and that he is not always the most important voice in the conversation. though he doesn't have overstated hubris, how highly he thinks of himself and how lowly he thinks of the others is blatantly obvious through his actions, and he's slowly getting better at, like, NOT doing that and it's really good change to see! he still has a...long...long...LONG way to go, but at least he's going somewhere. i just wish people would acknowledge this super interesting journey instead of watering patton down and being super fucking annoying whenever i try to critique him the tiniest bit.

i heavily prefer syd, eden, whitney, avery, and leighton as women; syd because trans girl sydney (and optionally trans girl kylar alongside her) is my fav sydney, and for the others i find their actions obnoxious when coming from men. (alex edges dangerously close to this border as well.)

also, the game doesn't facilitate this, but i enjoy nonbinary niki, wren, mickey, and occasionally harper.

sorry for max posting in your askbox even more but idk who else to share this with who's somewhat neutral lol. i enjoyed the race and i don't fault max for yelling at his pitwall but i AM annoyed that post-race he went off at the media doubling down on how he totally wasn't moving under braking in austria and it hurt when people said that he did, but lewis was totally moving under braking in hungary. this kind of comments are what makes me wish he actually got reprimanded more / held accountable for his on track actions. he's an aggressive racer! sometimes too much! i really think his overall racing could benefit from getting some criticism he actually has to listen to (also as a racing fan more than i am a driver fan, it annoys me to see fans who think he's being unfairly persecuted take everything he says uncritically. but tumblr / twitter are like this)

Hey, I wanted to thank you for writing those metas, I love reading them !

I watched good omens only recently and when I initially went through the good omens meta tag I felt kind of frustrated, since there is a lot of the "Crowley really has to learn to stop running away at the slightest problem" and stuff like that going around.

There was also a lot of "why are there so many people hating on aziraphale" but honestly I have trouble even finding a little criticism of him, so I don't understand why people are defending him, since there isn't even a threat? Or is there a tag for Aziraphale criticism I don't know of? ^^'

I'm a bit of tired of treating him, as if he isn't part of the oldest beings in the universe and didn't have time to challenge his thought process or learn how to, especially on earth with Crowley trying to help with that. When I was watching, Aziraphales well meaning behaviour hurt and his ignorance stung. He really is kind of delusional and I don't even know where I am going with these thoughts.

Hi anon, thank you so much for the message! Sorry for the late reply. I 100% agree with you. Pretty much all I've seen on Tumblr is people defending Aziraphale or trying to reframe it so that Crowley and Aziraphale are equally at fault. I did see people talking about hate Aziraphale was getting on Twitter, but I don't use Twitter so I don't know what anyone might be saying over there.

Aziraphale is definitely woobified by the fandom, and it gets incredibly frustrating. Like, yes, Aziraphale has a lot of religious trauma. But so does Crowley. The opening scene of season 2 establishes that they've had this fundamental difference in views from the start, even before the fall, so I don't get why Aziraphale still gets so much leeway after refusing to change or grow for 6000+ years. He knows the complexities of humanity better than any other angel, but he keeps doubling down on his flawed belief system.

And season 2 really emphasized that Aziraphale's well-meaning ignorance is legitimately harmful. Like he got Morag killed by applying his overly simplistic worldview to a morally gray situation. And then there's the ball scene? The way Aziraphale dragged others into his rose-colored fantasy world was disturbing, especially with how freaked-out Nina was by it. Then Crowley shows up terrified and asking for help, and Aziraphale dismisses his concerns out of hand. He refuses to let Crowley’s worries put a damper on this Jane Austen ball nobody signed up for.

And Crowley was right. Like he was trying to raise the alarm about the very real danger that everyone was in. I’ve seen it framed a lot like Aziraphale is just an optimist and Crowley is a pessimist, but it goes farther than that. Crowley consistently has a more realistic view of Heaven, Hell, and humanity than Aziraphale does. Aziraphale's inability to engage with reality causes actual harm to both humans and to Crowley. It contributed to the world almost ending in season 1, because Aziraphale wasted a lot of time trying to reach the "right people" in Heaven instead of accepting that Heaven is as bad as Hell and trusting the one person that’s been trying to save the world with him for years.

And it's like, yes, Aziraphale is sympathetic. He’ll be very conflicted, and distressed about how conflicted he is, and then he’ll come around and do the right thing in the end. But it's frustrating to watch Aziraphale seeming to grow and then immediately backsliding. Like, he was ready to fall to protect Job's kids. But he didn't, and he went right back to his beliefs. He didn't lose his faith in Heaven despite the Flood, and Job, and Jesus, and the apocalypse.

He also has this superiority complex, where he's the nice one while Crowley is stuck doing the dirty work. "I am a great deal holier-than-thou" and all that. Aziraphale's belief system makes him "good" by definition. He dismisses and overrides Crowley's opinions instead of changing his own because, on some level or another, he thinks he's better than Crowley by design.

So it’s at the point where Aziraphale needs to do some serious self-reflection. He needs to be the one to make the choice to change fundamental beliefs he’s clung onto since the beginning of time. I think he's capable of changing, and I’m looking forward to how it plays out in s3, but I don’t think we’ll be getting a lot of good fix-its from the fandom any time soon. Most of what I've seen is still fans insisting that since they're both flawed they are both at fault, and their relationship can be fixed by just having them both apologize to each other. If people are looking at it beyond that, I don't know where they're discussing it.

Some New Guidelines on Askbox Accusations/Callouts Since We Have Had This Happen Twice in Our Life Now

...and would like it if it didn't happen again.

Okay so like, here's the thing: if you tell us "X user is Y identity and that's bad," and you give us zero other details we will simply call you a cop and tell you to fuck off.

If you can detail to us "hey, I think you may not have known this. X person is part of Y movement. Here are links Z, A, V, and U along with their web archives detailing how X user is acting and here are links T, B, I, and O to add additional context. Here are links to articles C, F, R, P, and K plus their web archives describing how this is a hate movement that X user is a part of," then maybe we will listen to you.

We might vent about anti-endogenics being bigots for example but we aren't going to like, send specific callouts about specific anti-endogenics or whatever and invade peoples' spaces telling them to not talk to that person or reblog without sourcing our claims that the person or system is anti-endogenic because that would be fucking rude at best. The person we are sending the accusation to may not even know about it!

In addition:

If we are going to be entering someone's inbox to tell them X person is part of Y movement then articles/posts C, F, R, P, and K plus their web archives cannot just be random vents directly from us unless the vent contains pertinent information. We are allowed to be mad, but you probably want to know we are serious about what we are claiming. We expect the same of you.

Regarding the above: this does mean we do not want to hear "and if you support Y then I hope you die in a fire," or similar on a serious discussion post. A vent post might be a much better option for that language. Please see the previous point about vent posts.

"A lot of people accept D bigoted thing in Y community therefore it is a hate movement" nope, wrong! By that logic everyone in your rather benign but possibly uninformed community is actually part of a hate movement down to the last person who does not use the "right" language around you. We hope you realize why this is a very bad path to go down and it is one we are personally trying to heal from.

Screenshots do not count if something is supposedly publicly available where a link would suffice. Unless it is either about something horribly and-or urgently dangerous or we have directly asked you about it, we really do not want to see your personal beef with anyone as seen through the screenshots of DMs/PMs.

Please expect us to fact-check your statements if and when we manage to find the time/energy/motivation to do so. We may not get back to you immediately or even ever but that doesn't necessarily mean we have done nothing either lol.

Hopefully this will make it clear what our standards are when it comes to looking into movements, people, organizations, and groups we know zero information about.

If it is not: we are essentially asking you to put together a cohesive argument defending your opinion the way we were taught (mix of formal and informal with a hint of critical-synthetic thinking). We are not asking for your inferences about what the words in the DSM mean or your assumptions about what a particular group of people are like. We want you to use your resources to do your own research and then explain the most basic, most important points to us along with the footnotes to turn those inferences into an opinion with weight behind it.

For example: if the DSM V says "associated with" trauma when it comes to DID, and you take that to mean a causative relationship, we have some very bad news for you when it comes to science. And here's an extra source for good measure for all of the hateful sysmedicalists out there who believe DID is the only way to be plural and/or that endogenic systems cannot have DID.

Therefore, anything that even infers that DID is proven, beyond a doubt, by specifically trauma and only trauma will be seen to us as anti-science. The DSM says "associated" and we can speculate about the reasons why all day. Speculation still isn't the same as scientific inquiry. How about, instead of letting your hatred over some systems not being the same as you get in your way, you go and do some anti-saneism advocacy in your local neighborhood so systems can exist in public spaces without discrimination?

We are not putting a double standard on anyone, this is the same reaction most people would very reasonably have if you screamed the word fire in a movie theater and there was no actual fire.

Now that this is all cleared up, we can confidently state as follows:

The biggest elephant in the room since we see discorse pop up about it once in a blue moon and it is also the reason we had to bring back the "don't be a cop and assume we are pro- or anti- anything just because we reblog from someone we don't even know" post: we do not know what a radqueer transid is and do not fucking give a shit for the most part. Preliminary conclusions tell us we are likely to be staunchly against anything that is transhateful; that we see no difference between transbodic versus aldernic or chronosian and transage as even if people try to assert there is a distinction, we just don't see it we guess; transspecies and transgender when they are opt-in (and the key phrase IS, in fact, opt-in) are fine we think; and that everything else is on thin fucking ice at best. As soon as you hear a word combined with another word and it's anything besides derogatory you start assuming we are pro-whatever-the-fuck-this-is. We can see this debate going on in our periphery and the hostility and vile attitudes all around is making it fundamentally unsafe for us to say we don't know or do not have enough information. We have seen how groomer accusations go down when it comes to LGBT queer people. Stop it. If these people are just trying to exist in peace we don't want a part in the harassment. If they are harmful then we will find the proof of it one way or another but you are not going to be sending unsubstantiated claims and ad-homniem attacks to our askbox. C'est la vie — keep it on your blog and shut the fuck up if you cannot calmly substantiate your claims while bringing it up to us.

The same goes for random fucking statements like "well I guess I should just die then lmao," about anti-psychiatry stuff. Especially if you are pushing yourself into our notifications and making that sort of claim, and especially if there is nothing in the text stating as such. You are the one who is barging into our space and making umprompted accusations and the onus/burden of proof is on you, not us and not anyone else.

This is also the reason that we tend to lean more pro-ship than anti-ship to be honest? Saying "we don't give much of a damn," is not accurate in the slightest but is also the best phrasing we can come up with for this one unfortunately. We simply think that a lot of folks were not taught media analysis skills one way or another. While the curtains may actually just be blue, we also do not think people should get to say "the curtains were just blue," until they can understand how rhetoric works. This is the mystery "second time," we had this happen to us and it was when we were back on our old (probably termed by now tbh) account @/thatoneweirdhumanisback. It was the same as before but with the added annoyance of this particular system having asked to be our "friend" not more than a month ago. That by itself felt incredibly manipulative weather or not it was intended.

Just because we come to a decision or conclusion that you do not agree with does not mean that we did not listen and if you imply that, you are essentially using the same tactics our abusive former-stepmother used to accuse us of "misbehaving" and being an immoral person for the supposed "misbehavior". We sincerely hope you understand why that is not a great look. Please look up the acronym DARVO and the term gaslighting if you do not. If we see even a hint that is the direction any conversation is going you're getting an immediate block. It isn't a moral judgement on you, it's for our own safety (and possibly yours too if that is how you handle your interpersonal relationships generally — we also get like that when we have a sense we have lost control of our life and we hope you get better if that is truly your situation).

If you are going to send us an accusation about another being in our askbox or DMs and your own emotional investment leads to a failure to follow these guidelines, we're also probably going to block you on sight for that as well. That is not something we want to get involved in. That tells us you are clearly incapable of basic decency at the time the message was sent.

We also hope it is obvious why the same result will occur if you do this in reference to us but if it is not clear that also tells us you are clearly incapable of basic decency at the time the message was sent and in addition you're...probably also pulling something out of context. If we are venting we probably won't be giving any nuanced thought to something. If we are not venting, we think scrolling around our blog for five or so minutes will make it a little more clear to most people how we generally act and react. If someone or somesys didn't even bother to do that they probably aren't worth our time anyways.

Basically, this is a very long-winded way to tell you to not ask us about our opinions, interject and try to influence our opinions (particularly if you are using shame and guilt in doing so), or debate us unless we have openly and clearly invited you to do so.

Guidelines and our opinions (the opinions listed here or elsewhere) can and always will be subject to change dependant on new information we find to be credible.

Find a different blog to satisfy your bloodlust writhing need for hatred.

listen, I get that you hate Basil, and that's fine. But please, for the love of everything living, watch like, a Basil deep dive or something (I recommend @JJCGames analysis they did a great job) Because oh my gosh you are mischaracterizing him more than the Omori fans that infantalize him and it's actually insane. You can still hate Basil after watching an analysis video, that's perfectly fine, hate what you want to hate. But at least let your hate be accurate 😭 I still don't like Basil that much after watching the vid but at least I'm more on point with my critic.

you wanna know the beautiful thing about a game like omori and pretty much all fictional media in general? it's up to interpretation! people are going to interpret things in different ways based on their experiences. but the reasons why i hate him are valid. they are not "mischaracterization" just because you personally disagree with them. that's not how opinions work. it fucking sucks when people act super entitled, and pretend that i don't understand the source material just because my opinion is different from what's popular and widely accepted.

why would an analysis video help me? i've watched countless omori videos and all of them are just expressions of MORE opinions!! none of them can be regarded as "educational" because they are all OPINIONS, just like how my views on basil is an OPINION!! wow, imagine the concept of just respecting people's opinions instead of running to the askbox the second somebody disagrees with you.

"at least let your hate be accurate". first of all, it is. i'm not lying when i say my reasoning for hating him. i played the game. i know everything he did, and i personally don't forgive him. plus his fans constantly act obnoxious and annoying and stinky. so there. that's why i fucking hate basil. and i can hate him for any reasons i want to, accurate or not! it's a good thing that, wow, oh my gosh, my reasons ARE accurate and valid!
