Everybody getcha ears on! We are diving into the happiest places on Earth this session. I want to talk all things Disney, that is. I know this has been a post many of you have been waiting to happen for a while now and the day has come when it is finally time to talk about it. Should I have done it on the plane ride back, probably, but after some long trips traveling and the excitement of Disney I was pooped. So, there is no time like the present to share all my fun times and photos from both Disneyland and Disneyworld. Stay tuned this one is going to be fun!

You read that right, I went to both Disneyland and Disneyworld this year and lived my best life! Seriously, if you know me, you know I couldn’t be happier unless I am doing, watching, being all things Disney (okay, okay I might also be that way with Harry Potter). So being able to go to both places in one year was a dream come true. I wished upon a star and made it happen! The experience was like something straight out of a storybook.

Let me start by talking about the most asked question with these trips. “How did you afford it?” Well my magical, little friends I will tell you. To be honest, Disneyworld was a spur of the moment trip. Completely spontaneous and I went by myself (no Zachary on this one, poor him). Okay I did meet up with my aunt and cousins which totally helped on the hotel and food side of things so that is my first tip. Meet up with family or friends. Know someone that is an annual pass holder? Even better! They get special discounts and magic in the parks! Plus they know their way around which makes for a lot better experience. Back to money, being totally candid, we didn’t necessarily save up for my trip to Disneyworld, because it was so spontaneous I just kind of said “I’m going to do it”. I’m most definitely a planner so this is very unlike me, but I couldn’t be happier with my decision. I have been dying to go to Disneyworld for as long as I can remember, and I thought to myself the completely cliché saying “if not now then when”? So we budgeted it out. We made small cut backs on things (eating out, television, etc) and it also helped that we had some money saved up from post wedding bliss. I sold some stuff I didn’t necessarily need like Funko Pops from my beloved collection, my longboard, etc. Bottom line is that sometimes you just have to go for it. Make your dreams happen or you will be stuck wondering what if. Money is always going to be a factor, but it can’t be the only factor. Your happiness and experiences have to weigh in for something.

Okay, I will step down from my box and tell you the deets of each trip. Are you ready?

We are swinging back to April for this one. Let me remind you, this is my first trip to Disneyworld ever (I have been to Disneyland many times, however). So just imagine a mid 20’s Disney addict’s excitement when I got to finally say I was going to Disneyworld. I did every bit of research on what to pack, what foods to get, where the characters are, so, I felt fully prepared without a care in the world. My trip was only 4 days long and we had to hit up The Wizarding World of Harry Potter as well while we were there, but that is for a whole other blog post. I knew which two parks would be my favorite and must have days to spend Magic Kingdom (duh!) and Hollywood (Tower of Terror may be my favorite ride ever). From the food at Epcot to the Dumbo ride in Magic Kingdom everything was perfection and we hit it all in those three days we had. Of course I wore my different Minnie ears for every day and I had a wonderful time bonding with my cousins again. We walked so much and got our steps in for sure, but it was very well worth it for this Disney fan. I came home extremely tired, but loving the fact that I crossed a huge item off my bucket list with no regrets.

Pro tips for Disneyworld:

Bring a Patagonia sling style backpack. Seriously this thing was the perfect size and fit on rides perfectly.

Bring a power pack charger. You and your phone will thank me later.

Try as many mickey themed treats as you can. The dark chocolate ice cream bar and macarons are my favorites.

If you re short on time combine Epcot and Animal Kingdom in one day, but save Magic Kingdom and Hollywood for their own separate days.

Go during April. The lines were short and the crowd was smaller. Recommended between Easter and Spring Break.

This brings us to June of this year. OUR HONEYMOON. We went to California and had to make some of the trip about Disney of course. For those of you who haven’t been to Land vs World, Disneyland is smaller and more intimate. I love it for this and having gone so much during my childhood this place feels like home. Going with Zach by my side made it even more special and even though we had to sit next to some screaming children on rides nothing was going to spoil it for us. We got some amazing pics and were able to get on all the rides we wanted, multiple times even! The lines weren’t too long and the Fast Passes helped most definitely. We had the time of our lives and treated ourselves to treats and goodies along the way. We visited the new Pixar Pier which was absolutely adorable and got silly pictures in front of attractions. Secretly I was hoping to run into Acacia Kersey there as she is known to make an appearance to her favorite park throughout the year (shhhhhhh don’t spoil my dream). Overall the days we spent there were some of the fondest memories I have with Zach and I would never redo our honeymoon.

Pro tips for Disneyland:

Get the Fast Passes. Not only will you save time on rides but you get the pictures from the photographers at the park included in the package.

Let the mickey treats thaw. Seriously. After two sad attempts of shattered icecream bars believe me.

Don’t go expecting the Tower of Terror. It is now Rocket’s Wild Ride. While not as amazing as Tower of terror it is still the same concept. I’m not bitter you’re bitter.

Get park hopper tickets. These parks aren’t as big as Disneyworld so you have more time to go between parks.

Don’t expect the service to be as good as Disneyworld. This one I am a little disappointed with. I must say, Disneyworld has their crap together!

Overall there really is no comparing the two. They are so vastly different in their experiences. Disneyworld is grand and giant with exceptional service where Disneyland is intimate, more homey, and has different things to do. If you can experience both i highly recommend it. Meanwhile I am over here already planning my next trip back!
