In the past I took screenshots with a camera -- I used a kodak easyshare in macro mode! :) These days (in the past I wasn’t so fancy), when I edit a camera-taken screenshot, I try to improve the quality in photoshop afterwards by adjusting the contrast, brightness, saturation, shadows and highlights, noise reduction, etc. Sometimes a problem with camera-taken screenshots is that you run into grid-lines being captured in the photo, which come from the texture of your DS screen. But if you manage to get a photo without grid-lines (sometimes I would just get inexplicably lucky like 1/5 of the time), those ones are the best to keep, to add noise reduction, and to even try scaling up with waifu2x to make it even more crisp and seamless. In recent years though, I’ve mostly just used a 3DS with a capture card! If you play AC:WW on an emulator like desmume, or on the WiiU virtual console, you can get high-quality screenshots those ways as well.
