⇾ c o n s p i r a c y t h e o r i e s ⇾ lots of aliens talk ⇾ will try to convince you that he did in fact, see a UFO once ⇾ but also, will complain about the flat ass comments he constant receives ⇾ spills his secret that not even iwa knows - he dropped a shitton of cash to work out with the Kardashian’s personal trainer in hopes to get a nice juicy bubble butt ⇾ spoiler: it didn’t work ⇾ if he’s in a more serious/softer mood, he would talk more about the mistakes he made in the past in regards to his relationships ⇾ friendships or romantic ⇾ a very vulnerable moment for him where he just let’s everything he’s been holding in out
“I swear! I was seven, I went camping with Iwa-chan and his family!” Oikawa was sitting back on his heels with his right hand up, swearing to you. You rolled your eyes. “What, did the aliens abduct you and perform a surgery? You got a nasty scar on you somewhere?” He narrowed his eyes. “I will prove it. I just need to find the picture for you.” “Right. Wait, have you been working out more?” His expression quickly changed from utter disbelief to a smirk. “I have.” “Well, none of it is helping your ass.” He hung his head in defeat. “All that money wasted. I can’t believe I actually thought the Kardashian’s trainer would be able to help me.” “Babe, they’re all plastic and I think that’s the only thing that will help you at this point.” “Every amazing thing about me is natural. Why would I ruin that by enhancing my features unnaturally?” You shrugged. “At least you have that going for you.” “What do you mean ‘at least’?” he asked with air quotes. “I have you, don’t I?” You didn’t expect him to say something like that. “What?” “If you’ve stuck around this long, I must be doing something right. I know I fucked up in the past, but I’m glad you’re so patient with me. It can’t be easy dating someone who only thinks about volleyball.” You smiled softly as he continued. “I want to apologize to Kageyama properly for the way I treated him. And Iwa-chan too. He always had to deal with my bs and that wasn’t his place as my friend.” “Well, he stuck around you all this time, so you must be doing something right too.”

⇾ since california is 16 hours behind, these talks would be in the middle of the day for one of you until a surprise visit happens ⇾ but usually, it would just consist of the two of you catching up ⇾ in person though, he would talk more about how freeing it is to be in a new place, away from everything that was familiar ⇾ how it feels good not to live in anyone's shadow and just start fresh ⇾ (not that he hated being with oikawa, it was just something new for him) ⇾ but also how he doesn’t want to get left behind in the game of life ⇾ how even his new friends *cough* ushiwaka *cough* is going after his dreams
“So how do you like California?” It was 2 am, you just picked up your boyfriend from the airport and you were heading back home. It was a long drive back which gave you plenty of time to talk. “It’s nice. You’re not there, but other than that, I like it.” “Don’t let Oikawa hear that,” you laughed. Iwa slid down his seat a bit and got comfortable. “It feels so freeing. It’s a new start. No one knows me as the ace of Seijoh or as the guy who’s friends with Oikawa. I enjoy people not assuming I’m gay for my best friend.” Even though he was being serious, you couldn’t help but snort at the comment. After all, you had been one of those people too. “It’s like I hit restart and I’m enjoying every minute of it.” “Do you miss anything though? You sound like you’re really enjoying it there.” “Of course I miss things and people. Even though it’s fun, I do miss Shittykawa’s annoying ass and walking in on Makki and Mattsun getting high. Hell, sometimes I miss not being around all the fangirls. But everyone is moving on with their lives, so I can’t stay stuck in the past.” You hummed to let him know you were still listening. “I refuse to get left behind. Even Ushiwaka is going after his own goals.” “Who would’ve thought you would go to a new country, run into him there, and become friends?” Iwa laughed. “Not me, and definitely not Oikawa. He still brings it up, to this day. It’s been two years and he thinks I’ve replaced him.”
.・゜-: ✧ :- -: ✧ :-゜・.
⇾ high talks ⇾ i feel like he’s not stressed about much that he needs to vent or get something off his chest ⇾ would probably feel free when he’s high - free from being an adult - and would talk about that ⇾ maybe some funny stories from high school ⇾ makes lots of jokes ⇾ but once it hits him, he’ll be talking about deep shit ⇾ talks about life and everyone’s purpose, why we’re here, that sort of shit
“And then Iwa got so annoyed, he just pantsed Oikawa in front of the girl.” You giggled as Mattsun finally got the story right. “So what happened with the girl?” you asked. “I think she died in the spot because she got to see Oikawa in his underwear.” He took another hit of his blunt and blew the smoke out, over his head. “I wonder if he’s enjoying Argentina.” You glanced up at him before turning your attention back to the show neither of you were really watching. “I’m sure he misses you guys.” “I hope he finds his purpose. All that practice to never make it to nationals…” He sighed. “Iwa is studying to be a trainer. Him too. I hope he gets what he wants in life.” “And you?” Mattsun chuckled. “My purpose is to enjoy my time here. There are enough people in the world who are stressing over something or another. I’m here to balance the scale. Can’t have too much stress in the world or the negativity will just take over. That’s me and Makki, we just chilling through life. What's that saying? Que salsa?” “Que sera sera?” “Yeah that one! Oikawa said that to me when we were talking once.” “I’m surprised you remembered it.” “I’m smarter than I appear. I can’t threaten the nerds either. Balancing the scales.”
.・゜-: ✧ :- -: ✧ :-゜・.
⇾ would range from crackhead ideas to deep conversations ⇾ could go from reciting a funny story about kenma to his insecurities in your relationship real fast ⇾ so kuroo is a scorpio and l i t e r a l l y every scorpio I know absolutely sucks ASS at opening up, doesn’t matter what gender ⇾ a part of his insecurities is that you’re constantly trying to get him to open up more and confide in you, but even after knowing him for as long as you have, he barely does ⇾ and it’s not that he doesn’t trust you, it’s just he doesn’t like to feel that vulnerable with anyone ⇾ there would be a lot of thanking you - for being so patient with him, for dealing with his teasing, for accepting his friends, etc ⇾ he doesn’t strike me as someone who enjoys serious conversations too much so if he felt awkward, he would try to make things more light, cue talks about the latest scientific discoveries
The two of you were calming down from a story Kuroo told you about Kenma that happened recently. “I’m sure deep down, he wishes we never became friends.” “It’s not hidden very deep. He texted me that this morning.” Moving closer to Kuroo, you rested your arms on his chest and placed your chin on top of your hands. One of his hands automatically went to card through your hair. Kuroo’s face softened as he took a moment to stare at you. “I’m sorry.” You stared at him confused. “You’ve been with me for so long. I feel like I know your entire life story and your life stories from your last five lives and here I am, unable to even bring up my childhood and family problems. You shouldn’t have to deal with that.” You shrugged slightly. “I mean, yeah it’s pretty annoying but I’ve just come to…” You bit your tongue. “Come to what?” “Come to not expect anything,” you said with a sigh. That caused Kuroo to sit up, making you sit up as well. “Do you really not expect anything from me now?” “Well, not nothing. More like I’m not expecting you to open up. I’m tired of sounding clingy whenever I try to even ask about your day.” He ran a hand through his hair. “You know I never want you to feel like that, right?” You shrugged again. “I just… I don’t know, it’s just hard for me to open up to other people. I guess I’m just used to having someone who understands me without me having to say anything. Vulnerability feels so strange to me so I just try to avoid it when I can.” He took both your hands into his. “I’ll do a better job, I promise. Thank you for being patient with me.”
.・゜-: ✧ :- -: ✧ :-゜・.
⇾ he’s not much of a talker, we all know this ⇾ but if you ask him the right questions (ie. being annoyingly persistent) he’ll talk ⇾ LOTS of appreciation ⇾ very grateful to all the people he’s met in his life and how each one that he holds dear to his heart plays a different role in his life ⇾ how much he cherishes the people he loves ⇾ and then the conversation would turn to you - how much he appreciates you ⇾ let’s be honest, kenma sucks ass at being affectionate, his love language is probably quality time because just knowing that you’re willing to sit with him as he streams is good enough to make his gamer heart happy ⇾ so he would take the time to fully express how much he does love you since he rarely makes it known to you in other ways
“Kenma, how much longer are you gonna play? You have class tomorrow,” you said while he was streaming. Glancing at the time, he told his viewers that he was going to wrap it up for the night and he joined you in bed. You were talking his ear off about the meet up you had with some of your friends and you could see him grow more and more irritated. “Why did you call me to sleep if you were just going to talk.” “Oh. Well, this is the only time I got to be with just you today…” You pulled the blanket higher up on your body and curled into a ball with your back to Kenma. You felt him shift under the covers until you felt his arm wrap around your waist, pulling you closer to him. “I’m sorry. Tell me what happened next.” You shook your head. “It’s fine, we can talk in the morning.” He buried his face in your neck, giving you a soft kiss. “I love you. I don’t say that enough. I cherish you even if I don’t show you that. You and Kuroo and Shoyo. All of you are the closest people to me, and I appreciate you all so much for the different ways you’ve helped me.” You placed your hand on top of his and interlaced your fingers. “I love you too.” “How about we have lunch tomorrow? I can cancel the stream at night and we can watch a movie.” “What about the viewers?” “They can survive one night without watching me. I owe you since I’ve been a bad boyfriend.”

Here is my entry for @covered-byroses turning 1 writing challenge!
This is my first time writing anything for others to see, and it kinda got away from me... Had to cut it off where i did for now because it juat kept going and going and going..... And next thing i know wow.
Summary: You have a secret you've kept hidden all this time. Until something kills your husband and threatens to expose everything. Just so happens a couple hunters get more than the case they signed up for.
Pairing: none (yet 😘)
Warnings: character death (vaguely/generally discribed)
A quiet normal life was obviously too much to ask for. The past few years had been a lot of running around from place to place, ducking monsters and hunters. Was there nowhere that didn't have some kind of monster in it? How hard was it really?
The monsters never bothered you, they all seemed to know something was off and to stay away. You don't bother them, they don't bother you, simple as that. But some the hunters that came after them were different, these humans that have made it their duty to protect the clueless ones could be dangerous. Some of them have let the jobs get into their heads, and it's changed them. That's why you always left any town they came to, just to be safe.
Angels and demons on the other hand were absolute nightmares. You had spent more than your fair share with them and fighting them. If an angel was in a town, it was drop everything and run before they see you. Demon, leave before a hunter comes since most demons topside were too young go recognize you.
With all the constant moving, you were alone.
Until you met your (murdered) husband. He was a self proclaimed free spirit. Loved to move from place to place and rarely stayed anywhere for more than a few months. You had been hesitant but eventually warmed up to him and before long married, and fell in love. Since he just sooo happened to show up in the same places as you, he was a risk you wanted to take. He was your guilty pleasure, and his death was your fault.
He never knew what hit him. But obviously some demon went looking for the legend not even your dear old dad believed.
After your husband was murdered, you made it your obsession to find and kill it. Someone was talking and it wasn't going to end well.
You had been looking around and discovered that there was apparently a pack of wolves living in town. Small pack, looks to be exclusively family unit. Mother, father, and 2 girls (possibly nearing their 20s) and a teenage boy.
Of course… never a dull moment.
Not too surprising being in the middle of nowhere texas, but in the weeks you had been watching them they only fed on their livestock.
Which makes other murders in town very strange. What ever was responsible made sure to make it look like a werewolf attack.
…
Sam and Dean had been interviewing the investigators and witnesses all day for these “animal attacks”.
“Sounds like a werewolf Sammy,” Dean said opening a beer from the mini fridge.
“Yeah. Where is it hiding though?” Sam mused leaning back in the ratty bedside chair. “No one i touched was bothered by the silver ring today.”
“Good idea of Bobby's by the way. I might have to go check the local talent with it,” Dean said with a smirk lounging on one of the two small beds in the motel room.
“Dude,”
“oh Lighten up Sammy. I was gonna let you go first this time”
“Do whatever you want. I'm going to bed.” Sam rolled his eyes before moving to the other bed, that was a few inches too short for him “Remember we have to talk to the widows tomorrow so try not to have hooker glitter on you this time.”
“That only happened once.”
…
You didn't like to make a habit of being near hunters but you couldn't leave town now. It had only been a few months since you were married and less than a year since you and your husband had known each other. But that didn't make it hurt any less. It had been so long since you had had someone close to you.
You had visited the wolfs farm, this time to talk instead of spy, this morning before work at the small second hand clothes shop downtown. The Hensen's, you should probably remember their name. They were nice and accommodating once convinced you weren't there to harm them. Josh, the husband, wide and sturdy man was willing and ready to end any threat to his family. (Oh those hunters are going to have fun with this one) Amelia, the mother, tall woman towering over you although extremely soft spoken due to then she was turned her throat had very nearly been ripped out leaving a large angry scar. (You wondered if the big one of the two hunters was taller than her) The girls were twins, Anna and Marie, simple small town girls. And the son, Rich, solid country muscle farm boy.
They had been living there for years, long enough to build up that farm and to have the stock numbers to cover their feeding habits. They always sold or gave away what they didn't need. Most of the town thought they ran a home butcher shop and over the years that's what it turned into. But now with the murders and the hunters in town they were all on high alert.
Those hunters were going around town talking to the other 3 widows. Now you could see them through the store window across the street parking that vintage beauty. Both of them were way too sexy to be whatever government agents they were pretending to be. Sex with your husband (the few times it did happen) was great it was meaningful, but he would rather sleep under the stars or not leave the couch unless absolutely necessary to binge on something. But these two hunters made you think sinful thoughts.
Oh if only boys.
Putting on your customer service voice “Good afternoon gentleman. How can I help you?”
“We're federal agents in town working the recent animal attack cases,” the shorter of the two stated as they flash very nice but very fake FBI badges. “We were wondering if there was a (y/n y/l/n) here.”
“That would be me.” not even trying to remember the names on the ids, they wouldn't be real anyway. “Are you going to find out what happened to my husband?”
“Yes ma'am, we are very sorry for your loss,” now it's the taller ones turn “but we were hoping we could ask you a few questions?”
Giving them a sad smile before turning back to arrange new rack of clothes “Sure but i'm the only one here until closing at 6. You can ask here or wait until then.”
The tall one narrowed his eyes slightly. He seemed to want to say something else.
I don't even know what I'm not supposed to know. Normal people don't think werewolf right?
“How 'bout you meet us at the diner down the street when you get off? You can help us out over a quick bite,” he stepped around the small rolling rack of new clothes to make you look at him.
“Sure,” you try your best to hold back fake tears “I'll be there about 15 after.”
…
Too bad you didn't have time to creep on them before the diner, you have to admit they were nice to look at.
They're waiting in a booth in the back, both on one side with backs against the wall to watch everyone else. The tall one with long hair politely waves his hand when you enter. The shorter one has beautiful green eyes, he stands and helps you into the benchseat across from them. The had already ordered you a coffee and a glass of water.
“Thank you for coming Ms (y/l/n),” says the tall one
“How long were you and your husband living here before he was attacked?” Asks the green eyed hunter
“We only came here about a month ago. We didn't plan on staying, we wanted to travel around the country. You know live on the road,” You say not entirely lying “we just pick somewhere to go and get some small jobs around to hold us over for a bit.”
“Wait you don't live here?” Asked the tall one, he was trying to hide his suspicion with empathy.
Hunters…
“No, I'm still staying in the little motel,” you say “I was going to switch rooms but… i couldn't bring myself to…” you say fake holding back tears, you've shed all the tears you needed. Now you want the thing that killed him to suffer.
“We're sorry.” Says the tall one, his features soften and he gives you a look of genuine sympathy. “Why did you stay? Couldn't you have gone back home?”
“Neither of us have any family anywhere, we’re alone.” Now you hold back real tears, suddenly very interested in that coffee.
Taking a sip you realize why it was there before you were. Holy water. It stings some now when it usually doesn't, but you hold your composure. These two aren't playing around, they legitimately think you're the killer.
When green eyes shifts his hands on the table you notice why he helped you into the seat.
Holy water and silver rings, these two are a lot more interesting than i thought.
You sigh and decide to tell them what they want to know… sort of.
“I'm not the one who killed those people or my husband.” you whisper. They glance at each other and some unspoken thing goes between them but before they can feed you more BS you continue. “It wasn't a werewolf either. I know it looks bad but the bodies should have been more tore up, when has a wolf ever ripped out a heart without leaving any other marks?”
“Ma'am werewolves don't exist. We know traumatic experiences like this ca--” the long haired giant begins but green eyes stops him.
“Sam she knows.” He whispers to him “I guess we can cut the act for you then.” He directs to you this time. “What do you know?”
Mmm like to be incharge do ya not-sam.
“I'll tell you what I know but it's not much, and not here. I'm leaving in the morning,” You say “meet me at the butchers farm outside town in an hour.” You get up to leave not waiting for an answer.
…
After the 15 minute walk back to the motel you enter your room. You spare one last glance at the first bed and your heart clenches. You just need to pack the few clothes you have in your backpack and the essentials and be on your way to the farm. You plan on staying with the wolves until the hunters leave and your mind is too preoccupied with things to take and things to leave you didn't notice the rug was moved. Then you bumped the barrier reaching for the moon necklace your husband had given you. You had been so hurt and angry lately you hadn't been careful enough.
“Told you Sammy.” You heard from the doorway
You had not been pissed before but you were now. Hunters, always shoot first and ask questions after. Between angels, demons, and hunters you couldn't catch a break.
“Why'd you do it? Was he even your husband or just some poor sap that happened to be passing through town at the same time?” Sam asked accusingly
“It's not what you think” you say taking a breath to calm down and try and get out of the circle. But green eyes cuts you off.
“Why do you demons think you can just kill whenever you want and we won't find you,” he opens a small leather book “ now were going to save that poor girl you're wearin--”
“I LOVED HIM! LOOK AROUND YOU IDIOT!” So much for calm. You raise your hand and they both are flung against the headboards. You shut your eyes and take another breath.
You feel the darkness fading and with it the circles hold as you step over the barrier, careful to keep your hold on the men before you. You open your eyes to see them staring wide eyed and speechless. Their eyes locked on yours, you know they see the black they are used to but yours also have the familiar blue-white glow as well.
“What are you?” Sam breathes
Striding to the nightstand between the beds you slowly take your necklace before answering “I WILL find out who killed my husband, with or without your help. You have 20 minutes to be at the butchers now and I'll tell you what i know.” You say firmly making your way to the door making sure to walk through the circle again for them to see.
You spare one last look at them. “You know if i was into being on this end of things you two might be in trouble like that”
You release your hold on them as you slip out the door on the last word.
…
Something was different about the boy when you had ran into him that morning before the hunters came to the shop and you were hoping you were wrong.
Even if I'm right I can just fix him when I'm done.
You had been running since you left the motel, you're not going back to that little car you had since someone probably will recognize it again.
“(Y/N)!”
You skid to a stop in front of the Hensen's gate, trying to slow your breathing and heart rate after the 2 mile run.
“(Y/N)!” It must be one of the twins running up the drive yelling for you.
“Please. There's something wrong with Rich.”
Just then you hear the roar of the hunters car coming up the road.
“Get the rest of your family and hide. DO NOT come out until i come get you.” You grab her shoulders and make her look at you “Where is he?”
“He- he's in the barn. Mom is went after him, please don't let them hurt them.” She sobs
You shove her toward the house “GO!” Then tear off to the barn in the light of the hunters impala.
Just before you reach the barn a body is thrown through the doors, you manage to stop it in the air before it smashes into you. It's the mother, you lay her gently at your feet never touching her. It's been so long since you've used your powers it feels good to do it again.
“Don't you touch her!” The green eyed hunter yells gun drawn on you.
You hover your hand over the mother and let the healing white light do its job. Both men stand above you guns at the ready.when When you're done you snap your fingers and send her to her own bed far away from the hunters, still unsure if they will leave this family alone.
…
Dean and I argued the whole way to the farm about (y/n). He thinks it's some kind of demon trick that she got out of the devils trap, that she must have broke the circle before stepping in it. But i saw her run into it, it stopped her from reaching the nightstand when she reached out.
Then her still using her powers on us while trapped shouldn't be possible. And those eyes. Cas’ eyes only glow blue-white in the iris’, and no other angel has black around them. Whatever she is we've never seen anything like her.
'Into being on this end of things…’ more arousing than it should be coming from a possible demon.
'Into being on this end of things…’ more arousing than it should be coming from a possible demon.
Before we could act she snapped away the wife.
“You people are always shoot first and answers later.” She stood us to her full height, barely coming to the middle of my chest before swinging around to face Dean.
“MOVE” she shoves past my brother and i have to hide a laugh
“Wait! We don't know what's in there.” I try to stop her but she's already opening the doors before either of us can stop her.
“Ugh. Just stand still and I do everything. hunters…”
What must be the farmers son is standing in the middle of the loft above us cocky smile and black eyes.
"I didnt think you were real little one"

11, 21. L and Light.
Hi ! Thanks for requesting this couple, I’ve decided to go with the first one and with a College!AU because why not, hum ? It’s barely romantic, really ( though very, very slightly nsfw-ish at some point ). It’s also way too long, haaaa.
11 - “Same time tomorrow?”
The teachers lounge was empty, even though the door was unlocked and Light thought that it was rather telling of the teacher’s low income through the country that not one of them had something stealing-worthy in the room, but it was convenient. He could wait inside.
He had never been in the teacher’s lounge before. And really, it made sense : the only time students had business in this room was when they were turning their assignment too late and had to put it into a teacher’s locker, or when they needed advice or help in their classes.
Needless to say, Light wasn’t the kind of student who were late with their homework. He was a straight-A student, a ‘genius’ as the rumor said, the pride of their college, the kind that his teachers would brag about in the future ‘I was the teacher of Light Yagami, it was obvious he would do great thing with his life, I can’t help but think that I took part in the formation of this bright young man.” It was okay, Light thought. If they wanted the scraps of his success, they could have them.
Looking at the bleakness of the room, he even felt some pity for them. The room was almost empty, except for the lockers, a couple of tables, two ugly couches, coffee maker with a bunch of dirty mugs surrounding it, and… a chessboard ?
Light looked at it, intrigued to see such thing in the teacher’s lounge, and even more intrigued to see that there was apparently a game going on between two adversaries who weren’t there for now. After a brief analysis, he concluded that the blacks were almost done, really, cornered as they were and about to have their queen taken. It was lost cause but…
He couldn’t help his brain to find a way to change the game. Throwing a quick glance at the door as if he was about to commit a felony, he moved the black knight to block the bishop to take the queen. After that, he looked at the game, satisfied. The blacks were still in a dire situation, but not an hopeless one. He hoped whoever was playing would be grateful.
The door opened behind him, revealing a woman in perfectly-adjusted tailor, holding a cup of coffee in her hand ( apparently the coffee machine wasn’t that good at its job ). She was his philosophy teacher and while he didn’t like her that much it was important for her to like him for she was the one noting him.
“Light Yagami, what a surprise !” Light bowed slightly and she offered him a bright smile. People tended to smile around Light, he was used to it, even with people he didn’t know. “What are you doing there ?”
“I’m waiting for M. Lawliet” he said, being careful to not mention why he needed to see him. “Do you know where he is ?”
“Really ? I’m scared he’s already gone home” she replied, obviously sorry for him. “He’ll be there tomorrow, if that can wait ? I’ll tell him you are looking for him.”
Light nodded and managed a tight smile.
“Thank you” he said “Have a nice day”.
The next day the teachers lounge was empty again when he went there, but the thing he noticed right away was that someone had moved a piece on the chessboard. Only one : the white bishop. He blinked, wondering why the players had only decided to make one move before letting the chessboard alone. They had obviously noticed Light’s interruption, but had apparently decided to play against Light instead of against each others.
The players seemed really careless at first, giving him the possibility to go for the White Queen, but Light wasn’t an idiot : after a few minutes he realized that doing so would lead to his defeat in a couple of moves. Smirking, he decided to protect his King, just in case his opponents had something in their sleeves.
No one came into the lounge, not Lawliet and not the teacher from the day before, and Light couldn’t do anything else besides going home, cursing this teacher for not having an e-mail address or a cellphone like any normal human being.
The third day, Light didn’t even bother to knock on the door and was absolutely not surprised that no one was in there - the room was apparently so awful that teachers were avoiding it - and his first glance was for the chessboard, in the corner of the room. He couldn’t help but smile when he noticed that someone had made their move, and was even more satisfied to see that they had chosen to retract in defeat, after Light refused to take the bait.
It was time for him to attack, he decided. Just a try, to see how the others would react. He moved his tower until the threat to the queen was obvious. His opponent could easily protect her, but he would have to either sacrifice his rourke for it or to move his bishop, which would create an opportunity for him. In either case, it was worth the shot.
“Ah !” a voice behind him made him jump “ So you were the one who decided to mess with my game ?”
Light turned around, mortified, and saw the person he has been looking for two days in front of him, wide smile and wide eyes, and absolutely not fashion sense. His law teacher and the one who dared to give him a B for his class.
Light Yagami didn’t have Bs. It was either a mistake or an unfair treatment from someone who wanted to ‘break’ him, teach him that he wasn’t as good as he thought he was. He had teachers like that in the past and knew how to deal with them, but he hoped that this case was an easier one.
“I’m not messing up anything” he said. “I’m helping”.
Lawliet smiled, obviously amused, and focused his attention toward the coffer maker, turning on the device which started to emit a low and annoying ‘hmmm’.
“I wanted to talk to you” Light said, and since Lawliet didn’t reply, he kept going. “About my grades. You gave me a B.”
“Yes, I seem to remember something like that” the other man commented, and Light couldn’t help but wondering if he was imagining the sarcasm in his voice. But unfortunately, that also meant that the ‘mistake’ theory was out of the window. Whatever, as long as he was in the right, he wouldn’t bow to an asshole teacher who had decided he didn’t like him.
“I don’t think a B is a very fair grade for my work” he tried his best to be polite, his voice sweet like honey, the tone that made the girls swoons and his parents exchange a tender “look at our angel, isn’t he perfect ?” look. Lawliet didn’t seem really receptive.
“Come on” he replied. “You’re underestimating yourself, Light, your work wasn’t that bad, and yes, maybe I gave you a B because I like you, and the way you are always there at 9, first rank on my left, fresh and awake. I know a teacher shouldn’t have a favorite but what can I do I am only hu…”
“I deserve an A” Light cut him off, realizing that there was no doubt this time : this guy was mocking him. He wasn’t even sure why, really, for he was right : Light never skipped a lesson, never slept in class, never talked to the other students, always turned his assignments on time. Apparently Lawliet was the weirdest human being in the world and had decided that he didn’t like it. “You’ve read my paper, it was brilliant. Sir.” his tone had lost the calm, composed, reverent tone he had worked on for years, but he needed to stay polite, no matter what.
Lawliet turned his head toward the student, and Light had the terrible feeling of being analyzed, scanned. He felt a shudder run through his spine. He didn’t know Lawliet besides for the four hours-class he had with him everyday. No one liked him, but Light enjoyed the lectures more than he should have. He managed to be somehow interesting, which was something when it came to law.
“The reason you didn’t get an A, Light Yagami, is because you failed the last question. The Carmichael case.” he said. Light could perfectly remember this part of the assignment and didn’t see any flaw in his answer. He had been pretty proud of his conclusion, even. But Lawliet felt his confusion : “ I asked for a personal work, you used someone else’s. Very good answer, but in no way personal.”
Light felt the burn of anger in his body. Plagiarism ? Was it what he was accused of ?
“I didn’t steal anything” he said, offended by the mere suggestion. “I don’t need to copy-paste another work to get a good grade, it must be a coincidence.”
“A coincidence ? I don’t think so.” Lawliet’s tone was smug, and it was obvious he didn’t really care about what Light could say but he was innocent. He had done his work by himself, and if someone had the same idea than him, well, that was unfortunate.
“See, Light, the conclusion that you plagiarized comes from my own notes when I worked on this case. There is no mistake there.”
Light blinked, as if he expected for the teacher to admit that it was joke. But since the silence wasn’t interrupted, he had to do it himself.
“That’s ridiculous ! Why would I steal your work, especially when I know you’ll be the one who is going to grade me ? Someone doing it would be incredibly stupid.” he defended himself.
“Hum, yes” Lawliet agreed. “What can I say, it seems that even the greatest mind of our time ( he chuckled after saying that ) can have a bad day. Rest assured that it was impossible for you to come to the same conclusion than me in only four days when I needed almost one month”
“I didn’t steal anything” Light repeated. “I did all this by myself.”
“That’s impossible” and Lawliet’s infuriating smile was so grating that Light wanted to punch him.
He glared at the teacher. “Not for me. I did it.”
Silence. Both of them glared at each other for a moment, the tension rising. At the end, Lawliet sighed.
“Fine. Maybe we can find a solution to this problem.”
Light frowned. “Yes, you give me the A I deserve.” Gone was the sweetness, and the politeness too. Lawliet didn’t seem to mind but was still looking at him with his weird, black eyes, and Light wished he wasn’t.
“No. But you really seem to want this A, and I can give it to you. If you do me a favor first, alright ?” Lawliet’s smile widened.
Light took a step back. Funny, he hadn’t thought about it at all. Not that no one had ever tried before, but it was in High School and a word to his father had been enough to deal with it.As infuriating as he was, he hadn’t thought the guy would stoop so low.
“So” he said, coldly. “That’s how it is, then ? The teacher trading good grades against sexual relationships with his students. Pretty pathetic, don’t you think ?”
Lawliet shook his head, his way-too-big eyes expressing surprise.
“Sexual relationship ?” he replied, and Light swore that he was about to burst into laughter. “Good god, Light, no. Why would I try to trick a stuck-up and probably virgin nineteen years old boy into having sex with me ? It’s no different than rob a shop with only a bunch of coins in the cash drawer. The risk isn’t worth the potential benefit, if you get what I mean.”
Light managed to bit his tongue before being even more rude than he was already, knowing that denying the ‘virgin’ part would be even more embarrassing than not saying anything.
“Whatever, what do you want ?”
But of course, Lawliet wanted to torture him some more.
“You know, it’s funny but if I ask any teacher what they think of you, they’ll tell me the same story ‘the most amazing student I’ve ever had’, ‘a delight to have in class’, ‘a studious boy who will do great things later’. I feel privileged to not having be fed the same lies than everyone else, to be honest.”
“Well” Light answered with some bite in the voice “Most of the teachers never insulted me before”. Having been called a ‘thief’ by this pitiful looking guy had really been like being slapped in the face. He couldn’t let it pass.
“Insulted ?” the other repeated. “I’m sorry for not accepting to engage in an intercourse with you, I didn’t know it would be so hard on you. If it softens the blow to your ego, your are ridiculously attractive, and if I didn’t want something else from you, you would definitely be moaning against the wall by now.”
Lawliet had just said that with a perfectly blank face and Light almost choked on his saliva, throwing a worried look at the door behind him to be sure than no one had entered the room to hear such things. Lawliet rolled his eyes, mumbling something about ‘nineteen years old’ that he didn’t want to hear.
“So” he said again. “What do you want ? And I swear if you keep not answering, I’m out of here.”
Lawliet bowed his head in direction of the chessboard.
“A game. If you win you get the A. If I win, you keep the B. If it’s draw… I may take your offer on this sexual favor thing.” he said, as if he was just thinking about it now.
Light waved off the last part - he knew Lawliet was going to milk it as long as it embarrassed him and he wouldn’t give him the satisfaction to blush - and looked at the chessboard. He could do it. It was… easy. The other one may have been good, but Light was better.
“What about your opponent ? Is it okay if I’m taking his place ?” he inquired.
“Opponent ? I’m playing against myself, Light. Really, until now, I hadn’t met someone able to meet me on this field. But if you are as clever as you think you are, you should be able to beat me, right ?” Lawliet replied, pleased to see Light consider the option.
“Right. Let’s do it, then.” Light said, knowing that he shouldn’t have to play a game of chess to get his A, but it was easy. He could do it. And he hadn’t played chess in since forever, for he didn’t have anyone to play against, and playing against himself was really unappealing.
“Ah, I’m sorry. I have to go.” Lawliet moved closer from the chessboard, examined it for a few seconds and moved his queen. “There, I’ll play again tomorrow. Let’s keep it easy. One move a day, just what we did these last few days, does it seem fair ?”
“But you have to change my grade before the end of the month !” Light said.
Lawliet pretended to think about the question then shrugged.
“Then you’ll have to win before the end of the month.”
“That’s-”
“Can you do it ?” Lawliet’s face was the most serious Light had ever seen it. Suddenly nervous, he licked his lips and felt Lawliet’s eyes follow his tongue, noticing how the dilatation of his pupils. Light smirked. A challenge. He could do challenge, and hoped this one wouldn’t be too easy.
“Yes, I can. Of course, I can.” Lawliet seemed very satisfied of his answer.
“Wonderful. Same time tomorrow ?”
