I think if someone were to ask what kind of alcohol I liked I could accurately paint them a picture by telling them about a month ago when I tried a taste of absinthe at a brewery, which felt like a brutal punch to the face made of pure anise and licorice, and was so absolutely fascinated by it I proceeded to buy a $50 bottle of it with no hesitation

#i hate bitter flavors and i hate licorice but when i learned how absinthe is usually consumed i was like ????? that's cowardly #the traditional way of drinking absinthe is to pour it over a slitted spoon holding a sugar cube #or swishing a small amount around the glass and then pouring it out before adding other liquids #that's child's play. i will sip it like a fine whiskey and enjoy it #i also like gin an awful lot but that's probably not surprising #absinthe is GREEN too which is cool. it doesn't have added colors it's just green by itself. it looks like poison #alcohol #i was in a state that had no liquor tax at the time so i was like. well it's now or never #well technically i didn't buy it. it was my bf who got a bonus from work recently so he was like yeah get a treat for yourself
