I never expected to love my bras. But now they give me insane amounts of support and it turns out, big bra was sizing me wrong.

why is finding a bra that a) is comfortable and b) fits me properly so impossible!! i have been looking and looking for two months and have yet to find a single one

desperately wish the regular everyday sports bras that are comfortable and everywhere actually came in sizes that fit me.......all the bras that come in my size either have painful underwire or dig into my armpits and hurt there. ugh

tbh that’s not TOO big of a jump based on how band/cup sizing works—what are you using to calculate the size? everyone recommends ABraThatFits (site and subreddit) but it really is the best!!!

bra poll is making me insane please do not wear a sports bra every day it would take me many paragraphs to explain the ergonomic and anatomical problems and long term damage you are doing to your spine/chest/boobs and i don't have the energy right now but I'm getting so stressed out just thinking about it

short version: don't get fucking fitted at Victoria's Secret, they will lie to you about your size

go to ABraThatFits subreddit (this sub is trans and fat positive), force yourself to read the starter guide at least, measure yourself properly. your actual size is going to shock you but it's ok they will help you find the right size/shape to try out

order a few bras you can return for free. try them on. they will feel WEIRD if you've never worn the right size before!!!!! give it a few hours!!! if they don't settle and feel actually good/supportive after you get used to them, they're the wrong size or shape and you should return and try a different one

ITS A PROCESS. once you find your right size (it will be something weird like 34F and you're going to be so mad) you can just buy the right size and have proper support and it is life-changing

also if you don't feel like doing all this crap you don't have to, they're your boobs and I'm just some person on the internet

Check out the abrathatfits calculator! It's the most accurate bra size calculator and takes into account some stuff like projection/root size. Sticker shock is super common, most people think they're a much bigger band size and smaller cup size than they are. I look like a 'conventional' B cup (used to wear 36B) but I'm actually a 32DD cup. A properly fitting bra feels like heaven dude you don't even know until you get it. The IrishBraLady on insta also has a ton of real (clothed) references that show what each bra size looks like on a variety of people and how correct size bras are supposed to fit. Check out BraStop, Curvy Kate and Bare Essentials to find good quality bras in a lot of sizes on sale for cheap (bc they're so expensive omg rare sizes are like. 70usd each. on sale they're like 15.) This has been the bra size psa. (also dw about responding to this or whatever i just wanted to share this info w u since you're usually so helpful i wanted to return the favor. people can be weird about bras u don't have to reply stay safe.)

That's what I used! And that's why I was so fucking shocked lmao. Like it taught me those things and I was like huh!!! Cup size is NOT reflective of size of boob?!? Band size is more important?! Didn't know! I can't wait to see how this bra fits bc yeah it's past time. I deserve this.

Victoria's Secret is notoriously bad at sizing. Strong recommend for trying the abrathatfits calculator when you have the chance

c'mon, akieri, supportive big bras are sooo worth it for your back, and measuring tapes are easy to find and cost like $3. the anon yesterdya recommended r/abrathatfits, which has a lot of really great resources for how/what measurements to take, a calculator that can convert that to a bra size, then you could even make a post asking if anyone has recommendations for finding bras that large. it's worth making the investment to care for your back :)
