I rewatched bloodlines because i was stressed and... the amount of blatant manipulation abram does?? Like he even ADMITS it flat out in an interview? The last time I watched that season I was so young and couldn't see it and was just convinced he got a good edit but... how was cara made the villian here? Like he's so abusive man😭 you could even tell how uncomfortable cara was just with his presence like huh? He also repeatedly talks to her in a very bad way and also repeatedly dictates who she should and shouldn't hang out with/vote for... ok...

This week’s NFL mock draft has 2 options for each team
Tumblr media
Chase Young will be one of the first players taken in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The teams drafting in the first round have more than one choice — well, except for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Every NFL team does mock drafts, and it’s not just for fun. Teams do them to try to figure out their options. If a player they like is gone, backup possibilities are needed. That’s why the theme of this week’s mock draft is options.
In addition to each team’s pick in the first round, I’ve come up with a backup choice. The only catch is the options are only relative to what has happened in the draft. If a player was taken already, he can’t be the “other” option.
Here’s a look at how it all played out this week:
1. Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Burrow, QB, LSU
Except for a couple of days during the NFL Scouting Combine when Tua Tagovailoa was hinted at being the No. 1 pick, Burrow has been the choice since the middle of the college football season.
Other option: None. This is the only pick where there isn’t another feasible option.
2. Washington: Chase Young, DE, Ohio State
Young has been the expected second pick in the draft for months — with good reason, too. He’s similar as a prospect to Myles Garrett and Nick Bosa. Not only is he an instant starter, he’s an instant playmaker.
Other option: The talk about Washington taking Tagovailoa hasn’t fully gone away. The group that brought in Dwayne Haskins last year is gone, and new head coach Ron Rivera will have a lot of sway on draft night.
3. Detroit Lions: Jeff Okudah, CB, Ohio State
The Lions, as expected, traded Darius Slay. That makes what they should do with the third pick even more obvious.
Other option: Don’t forget, Lions head coach Matt Patricia has a philosophy of building from the middle out on defense, and his team has a need at defensive tackle. Derrick Brown of Auburn should be in the discussion for this pick.
4. New York Giants: Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville
Giants general manager Dave Gettleman, the madman, loves hog mollies. “Big men allow you to compete,” Gettleman once said while he was in Carolina. There is no hoggier molly in this draft than the 6’7, 364-pound Becton.
Other option: This could be any of the other top offensive tackles, like Tristan Wirfs of Iowa or Jedrick Wills of Alabama.
5. Miami Dolphins: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
This week’s mock isn’t projecting trades — trades will be back next week — but I do think the Chargers could jump ahead of the Dolphins for Tagovailoa. That could leave Herbert for Miami.
Other option: If the Dolphins don’t get Tagovailoa, they could punt on quarterback until 2021 and wait for Ohio State’s Justin Fields or Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence. If that happens, Clemson defender Isaiah Simmons would be fun in Brian Flores’ defense.
6. Los Angeles Chargers: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
Although there is some risk in taking Tagovailoa, it makes sense for the Chargers. With the departure of Philip Rivers, they need a new starting quarterback. They also need some star power, and the former national title winner has it.
Other option: While the Chargers signed Bryan Bulaga and traded for Trai Turner, they could still use one more piece on the offensive line. Wirfs is a player the Chargers have spoken to leading up to the draft, and he would fit nicely on the right side.
7. Carolina Panthers: Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn
Even with Simmons available, this has become my default pick for the Panthers. Defensive lineman Kawann Short still has a few good years left, but if the Panthers can’t get someone to take the attention away from him, those years will be wasted.
Other option: Simmons is the obvious other option here. He is the only player in this draft anywhere near being able to fill the massive hole left by Luke Kuechly.
8. Arizona Cardinals: Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa
The Cardinals can continue building out their offense with a plug-and-play right tackle like Wirfs. He would bookend with D.J. Humphries and give Kyler Murray time to complete throws to his impressive group of receivers.
Other option: If not Wirfs, then it could be Wills. Getting a right tackle has to be the biggest priority for the Cardinals for the remainder of this offseason.
9. Jacksonville Jaguars: Isaiah Simmons, LB, Clemson
Finally, at long last, Simmons comes off the board. It’s a little challenging to believe he’ll drop this far, but this should absolutely be his draft floor. For the Jaguars, he would provide some playmaking ability to a defense that has lost numerous pieces the last couple of years.
Other option: If the Jaguars are skeptical about Cam Robinson at left tackle, they could give Andrew Thomas of Georgia a long look.
10. Cleveland Browns: Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
Although Wills is rated higher than Thomas, the Browns could use a few sure things. Moving Wills from the right to left side is a projection. With Thomas, they know they’re getting a left tackle.
Other option: If Becton and Wirfs are gone — both excellent fits in Kevin Stefanski’s zone-based offense — the Browns could trade down. Remember, new GM Andrew Berry was around the last time the Browns accumulated picks to build their franchise. It could happen again, potentially with Boise State tackle Ezra Cleveland being the target.
11. New York Jets: Jedrick Wills, OT, Alabama
George Fant is in the fold, on an absurdly large contract, but the Jets still need to get better on the offensive line. It’s just as conceivable that Wills goes in the top five as it is he drops to No. 11.
Other option: Wide receiver is the other obvious first-round pick for the Jets. Pick your favorite from Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb, or Henry Ruggs III. All will be in the discussion.
12. Las Vegas Raiders: CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma
Raiders general manager Mike Mayock has hinted numerous times this offseason that the Raiders will be after a wide receiver in the draft. Even though they brought in Nelson Agholor this offseason, he’s not a true No. 1 option. Lamb, with his impressive skillset, is that type of player.
Other option: This is wild, but Utah State quarterback Jordan Love could get consideration here. There’s a reason the Derek Carr trade talk has lingered since Jon Gruden came back.
13. San Francisco 49ers (via Indianapolis Colts): Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama
Deebo Samuel is going to be a star for the 49ers, but they still need more help at wide receiver. Ruggs is the type of deep threat the 49ers don’t have because Dante Pettis has been such a huge disappointment.
Other option: Last week’s mock draft had Florida cornerback CJ Henderson in this spot, and that could still be a possibility.
14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Javon Kinlaw, DT, South Carolina
If the top four offensive tackles are gone, the Buccaneers could draft whomever they view as the best player available. In this mock draft, it is Kinlaw. The Bucs have plenty of run stuff prowess on the defensive line with Ndamukong Suh and Vita Vea, but they don’t have a player who can get after the quarterback. Kinlaw can be that player.
Other option: Buccaneers GM Jason Licht will occasionally do weird things in the draft, like trade up in the second round to take a kicker. The weird thing here would be reaching on the fifth offensive tackle, be that Austin Jackson of USC or Josh Jones of Houston.
15. Denver Broncos: Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
For my money, Jeudy is top wide receiver in the draft. It just so happens, at this very moment, there seems to be more buzz about Lamb and Ruggs. Jeudry is an excellent route runner with good hands. Those two attributes make people forget how fast he is on the field.
Other option: The Broncos traded for A.J. Bouye and Bryce Callahan is fine in the slot, but the Broncos need a second outside cornerback. Henderson could get the nod if the top three wide receivers are gone.
16. Atlanta Falcons: CJ Henderson, CB, Florida
Surprise, it’s not a pass rusher for the Falcons. After releasing Desmond Trufant, the Falcons are dangerously thin at cornerback. Damontae Kazee is good, but he’s more of a slot corner/safety hybrid. Henderson would give the Falcons a lockdown outside cornerback.
Other option: This pick could be an edge player, like LSU’s K’Lavon Chaisson or Penn State’s Yetur Gross-Matos.
17. Dallas Cowboys: K’Lavon Chaisson, Edge, LSU
Henderson would probably be the preference for the Cowboys to help replace Byron Jones, but they still need pass rush help. Even though Chaisson is a bit of a one-trick player as a pass rusher, he fits well in new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan’s defense.
Other option: The Cowboys could reach for a cornerback, because now they need one. Utah’s Jaylon Johnson is a fit, as is Kristian Fulton of LSU.
18. Miami Dolphins (via Pittsburgh Steelers): Josh Jones, OT, Houston
Miami’s offensive line needs plenty of help. If the Dolphins get a quarterback in this draft, the blocking has to get better. Jones started four years in college and should be able to step into the starting lineup as a rookie.
Other option: If the Dolphins don’t like Jones, Austin Jackson of USC or Isaiah Wilson of Georgia could be in play.
19. Las Vegas Raiders (via Chicago Bears): Yetur Gross-Matos, Edge, Penn State
The Raiders have stocked up on pass rushers the last two seasons, with draft picks Maxx Crosby and Clelin Ferrell and free agent addition Carl Nassib. Still, they could use a versatile defender who can get to the quarterback. Gross-Matos can play on the edge or standing up.
Other option: The Raiders let safety Karl Joseph leave this offseason and now need a player opposite Johnathan Abram. Either Grant Delpit of LSU or Xavier McKinney of Alabama would fit.
20. Jacksonville Jaguars: (via Los Angeles Rams): Justin Jefferson, WR, LSU
With new offensive coordinator Jay Gruden, the Jaguars need a wide receiver who is a disciplined route runner. In this range of the first round, that player is Jefferson.
Other option: If the Jaguars prefer a jump-ball target at wide receiver, Clemson’s Tee Higgins should be around.
21. Philadelphia Eagles: Laviska Shenault Jr., WR, Colorado
The Eagles brought in Slay to bolster their cornerback group, squarely making wide receiver their biggest first-round need. Coming into last college football season, Shenault was considered by many as the top wide receiver prospect in the nation.
Other option: This could be the landing spot for Baylor wide receiver Denzel Mims, this year’s draft process” superstar.
22. Minnesota Vikings (via Buffalo Bills): Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU
Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs would be the perfect fit in Mike Zimmer’s defense. He’s a long, physical cornerback with coachable traits. However, it would be a little awkward:
So would the #Vikings consider drafting Stefon Diggs’ brother, Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs? Let’s have NFL Network draft analyst Charles Davis tackle that one. “More than likely, he’s not under consideration for Minnesota,’’ Davis told me.
— Chris Tomasson (@christomasson) March 27, 2020
Instead, the Vikings could fill a big roster hole with Fulton. He’s not as physically imposing as Diggs, but he knows how to play press coverage well.
Other option: After trading Stefon Diggs, the Vikings need help at wide receiver to keep the double teams away from Adam Thielen. In this scenario, that player would be Higgins or Mims.
23. New England Patriots: Jordan Love, QB, Utah State
I can’t quit this pick for the Patriots. It’s a huge gamble because Love had a down 2019 season, but the Patriots are resetting at quarterback.
Other option: The Patriots badly need speed at wide receiver. They could also use a big target. Could those two things combined lead them to Notre Dame wide receiver Chase Claypool? If so, it should be after a trade down. But the 6’4, 240-pound receiver has momentum from his 4.42 40-yard dash at the combine.
24. New Orleans Saints: Grant Delpit, S, LSU
After signing Emmanuel Sanders to be the team’s No. 2 wide receiver, the Saints might not have a high priority at the position. The team has few holes, but one of them is a deep coverage player. Delpit has shown that to be his specialty.
Other option: On the defensive line for New Orleans, interior pass rusher Sheldon Rankins is a free agent next year. So is backup defensive end Trey Hendrickson. If he’s available, Iowa defensive end A.J. Epenesa might get a long look.
25. Minnesota Vikings: Denzel Mims, WR, Baylor
Try and think, off the top of your head, the wide receivers on Minnesota’s roster besides Thielen. It’s not easy. The answer to that is Chad Beebe, Olabisi Johnson and Tajae Sharpe. Not good.
Other option: Arizona State wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk would be an interesting fit on Minnesota’s offense with his ability after the catch.
26. Miami Dolphins (via Houston Texans): Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama
This is a repeat pick for the Dolphins from last week. After quarterback and offensive tackle, there’s a real argument for Miami’s third-biggest need between a defensive lineman, safety, and running back. In this mock draft, McKinney is the best player available at those three spots.
Other option: If there is a team that could take a running back in the first round, it is Miami. The positional value is questionable, but if the Dolphins do it, Georgia’s D’Andre Swift should be the first running back off the board.
27. Seattle Seahawks: Isaiah Wilson, OT, Georgia
The first wave of free agency is well over at this point, and the Seahawks are still in need of a right tackle. Previous right tackle Germain Ifedi recently signed with the Bears. Wilson is a big, hulking right tackle brimming with potential. In other words, he’s a younger version of Ifedi.
Other option: Trading down should honestly be the first option for Seattle.
28. Baltimore Ravens: Patrick Queen, LB, LSU
The linebacker position for the Ravens is in a state of disrepair. Queen may not be the second coming of Ray Lewis, but he would give Baltimore’s defense an athletic linebacker who can find the ball in a hurry.
Other option: Oklahoma linebacker Kenneth Murray will probably get a look here as well. Really, it would be a coin toss scenario between the two.
29. Tennessee Titans: Austin Jackson, OT, USC
With Jack Conklin off to Cleveland, the Titans have a big hole at right tackle. For a team that relies on the running back more than most, maintaining the offensive line is critical. Although Jackson is more of a left tackle, he could be forced to move to the right in the NFL out of necessity.
Other option: The Titans still need to bring in a decent pass rusher, especially considering Vic Beasley was only signed on a one-year deal. Alabama edge rusher Terrell Lewis is a risky pick because of his injury history, but he should be an option.
30. Green Bay Packers: Ezra Cleveland, OT, Boise State
The outside spots on Green Bay’s offensive line are starting to become problematic. Right tackle Rick Wagner, a replacement for Bulaga, is not good. Perhaps more concerning is the fact that left tackle David Bakhtiari is in the final year of his contract. Cleveland is an athletic pass blocker who could eventually take over for him.
Other option: Wide receiver should also be a consideration for the Packers. TCU’s Jalen Reagor would be a nice fit in the Packers’ offense.
31. San Francisco 49ers: Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama
What better player for Diggs to learn from than Richard Sherman? While most of San Francisco’s secondary is in a contract year, the 49ers could get out ahead of restocking the group with Diggs.
Other option: After trading DeForest Buckner to the Colts, the 49ers could target a defensive tackle in the back of the first round. If so, that player would likely either be Ross Blacklock of TCU or Justin Madubuike of Texas A&M.
32. Kansas City Chiefs: Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma
If Murray happens to be around when the Chiefs pick, he should be an easy choice. Kansas City’s linebackers last season were average, and Murray would provide an upgrade of athleticism.
Other option: After losing Bashaud Breeland and Kendall Fuller, cornerback is a need for the Chiefs. TCU’s Jeff Gladney or Clemson’s A.J. Terrell could be considered.

As March winds down, at least 250 million Americans have been told to stay home or “shelter in place” to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Problem is, many can’t help wondering if they can still afford a place to shelter in—if they ever could.Long before the coronavirus pandemic, generous swaths of the United States faced an affordable housing crisis. With millions of Americans losing their jobs and millions more facing unemployment in the near future thanks to a concerted economic shutdown geared at reining in the disease, talk of rent strikes and freezes are in the air.The Trump administration recently nodded to the problem by ordering a foreclosure moratorium on single-family home mortgages backed by the Federal Housing Administration or obtained through government-owned lenders Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Fannie and Freddie have also offered forbearance for borrowers experiencing hardship. And the finance giants have dangled payment relief to indebted apartment building owners who grant respite to renters, a move the Federal Housing Finance Agency estimates could affect 43 percent of the market in multifamily leases. Then there’s the $2 trillion stimulus bill that passed last week, which contains language forbidding evictions and late charges on any property receiving virtually any federal aid. It also permits those owing money to Fannie or Freddie to request up to six months of forbearance, though it leaves the onus on borrowers to do so.If your home doesn’t fall under one of these categories or programs, and you’re wondering if you owe money to your landlord or lender, the answer is probably yes—at least for now. Still, some state and local governments have moved to stem evictions and foreclosures for everyone, and a few are even freezing rent and mortgage payments entirely. Here’s a breakdown of COVID-19 rules on housing across every state and many large metropolitan areas. This story will be updated as events warrant. Will the U.S. Run Out of Groceries Under Lockdown?Alabama: No specific government measures to prevent evictions or foreclosures, but local Regions Bank is offering a mortgage payment reprieve and the state Supreme Court has cancelled in-person proceedings until April 16, which may stem new removal proceedings. Individual judges may conduct business via phone or video, however.Alaska: Gov. Mike Dunleavy has forestalled evictions and foreclosures of any tenant or homeowner covered by the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation, while the state Supreme Court has halted eviction hearings until May 1 and barred enforcement of outstanding ejectment orders against quarantined people.Arizona: Gov. Doug Ducey has ordered a 120-day stay on eviction orders against anybody quarantined or experiencing hardship because of COVID-19, starting March 24, and has launched a $5 million rental assistance fund. The state’s “Save Our Home AZ Program” is offering principal reduction assistance, monthly mortgage subsidy assistance, and second lien elimination assistance.Arkansas: No special COVID-19 programs in place as of this writing.California: Gov. Gavin Newsom has ordered a statewide ban on evictions through the end of May, so long as tenants provide notice in writing within one week of their rent coming due that they cannot pay due to the disease. He has also cut a deal with Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, U.S. Bank, Wells Fargo, and 200 smaller lending institutions to defer mortgage payments for up to 90 days from borrowers who can show they've lost income during the crisis. Bank of America has assented to a 30-day grace period for mortgage payments. The City of Glendale has banned rent increases through at least April 30 (though not rent payments). Philanthropists in San Diego have established a COVID-19 Community Response Fund to provide rent, mortgage, and utility assistance to struggling locals. Colorado: Gov. Jared Polis has issued non-binding guidance to state-chartered banks discouraging foreclosures, and Denver has reassigned deputies away from eviction enforcement.Connecticut: James W. Abrams, Chief Judge for Civil Matters, has issued a stay of all evictions and ejectments through May 1, and postponed all foreclosure sales until June 6.Delaware: The Justice of the Peace Court has postponed all eviction proceedings until after May 1, while Gov. John Carney has put off all residential mortgage foreclosures until 31 days after he lifts his order of emergency. Late fees or excess interest are forbidden.Florida: No state programs in place as of this writing, but the Orange County Sheriff's Office has put off eviction enforcement "until further notice," as have police in Miami-Dade. The latter county has also called off evictions in its public housing.Georgia: No state programs in place as of this writing. But on March 17, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms issued an executive order imposing an eviction moratorium on the Atlanta Housing Authority, Atlanta Beltline Inc., the Fulton County/City of Atlanta Land Bank Authority, Invest Atlanta, Partners for Home, and the city Department of Grants and Community Development.Hawaii: The Hawaii Department of Public Safety Sheriff Division has indefinitely suspended evictions.Idaho: No state programs in place as of this writing, but Boise public housing has waived rent and ended removals, and a judge has called off eviction hearings in Blaine County.Illinois: Gov. J.B. Pritzker has barred evictions through April 7 by executive order. Courts have ordered longer cessations of evictions, including in Cook County (April 15) and in Peoria, Tazewell, Marshall, Putnam, and Stark Counties (April 17). A court covering Kendall and DeKalb Counties has barred new eviction and foreclosure proceedings for 30 days beginning March 18. Chicago is providing 2,000 residents with $1,000 grants to help cover rent and mortgage payments.Indiana: Gov. A-10 C Thunderbolt II and M1A2 Abrams conduct joint exercise in Fort Irwin
An Idaho Air National Guard A10 C Thunderbolt II close air support aircraft and M1A2 Abrams main battle tanks conducted a joint combat exercise at the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, California.
According to a statement released by the Idaho Army National Guard,  A-10 C Thunderbolt II from the 124th Fighter Wing, that specially designed for close air support of ground forces, take part in joint combat exercise at the National Training Center with M1A2 Abrams tanks of Idaho Army National Guard’s 2nd Battalion, 116th Cavalry Regiment.
“Throughout NTC the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team and the 124th Fighter Wing, both headquartered in Boise, have trained along side each other to build unit readiness and increase proficiency in each unit’s wartime missions,” said in a statement.
The Federation Of American Scientists’ website said the primary mission of the A-10, affectionately nicknamed “The Warthog,” is to provide day and night close air combat support for friendly land forces and to act as forward air controller (FAC) to coordinate and direct friendly air forces in support of land forces. The A-10 has a secondary mission of supporting search and rescue and Special Forces operations. It also possesses a limited capability to perform certain types of interdiction. All of these missions may take place in a high or low threat environment.
The A-10 was designed around the 30 mm GAU-8 Avenger rotary cannon. Its airframe was designed also for carriers 16,000 pounds of mixed ordnance on eight under-wing and three under-fuselage pylon stations, including 500 pound Mk-82 and 2,000 pounds Mk-84 series low/high drag bombs, incendiary cluster bombs, combined effects munitions, mine dispensing munitions, AGM-65 Maverick; AIM-9 Sidewinder.

Too Blue for RedThe American Spectator
In May’s Idaho Democratic gubernatorial primary, 38-year-old Paulette Jordan prevailed over A.J. Balukoff, a perennial Democratic candidate and two-time loser. Jordan is a Native American and member of Idaho’s Coeur d’Alene tribe, who served as a two-term state legislator and supported Bernie Sanders in his 2016 presidential bid. Balukoff, 72, a businessman who formerly served on the Boise School District Board of Trustees, had a lot in common with Bernie (especially his race, gender, and age), but it seems to be the year for women-of-color in the rapidly pulling-to-the-left Democratic Party. Sorry, A.J.
We’re seeing this model play out again and again across the American political landscape this primary season. We will see more of it. The Democratic Party can’t free itself from the clutches of identity politics. And its ingrained Trump-hatred keeps it a prisoner of an inescapable conundrum. The “centrist” Democrat of, say, the Clinton ’90s, is now a dinosaur.
Jordan’s campaign website is full of the sort of liberal platitudes you might expect. She supports such boilerplate gems as “quality education, affordable healthcare, economic opportunity,” etc., and, of course, the standard lines concerning race, feminism, and LGBT issues. Paulette Jordan seems to suffer from Hillary Syndrome, in that she believes that her gender and ethnicity entitle her to be governor of Idaho. In an interview with the Nationshe stated: “We are not afraid, and will never again stand down.”
In the recent Georgia Democratic gubernatorial primary, African-American former Democratic Minority Leader of the Georgia House of Representatives Stacey Abrams thumped former Georgia House Rep. Stacey Evans (“The Battle of the Staceys”), 76% to 24%. Abrams, a 2016 Bernie Sanders supporter, was endorsed by Sanders and the radical far-left Moveon.org. Abrams is banking on the Trump-hatred found among the upscale, well-educated liberals in the Atlanta suburbs to deliver future electoral success.
In Texas, Lupe Valdez, a Latina, lesbian, and Dallas County Sheriff, beat the centrist Democrat Mark White for the slot to take on Republican incumbent Greg Abbott in this fall’s gubernatorial contest. This despite Valdez’s financial woes, when as recently as June she paid off $12,000 in property taxes in arrears in two Texas counties.
And then there’s Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who, due to her massive media profile, well, enough said.
All these contests have one thing in common. The farther left “progressive” candidate beat the centrist-moderate, sometimes by a wide margin (see Abrams’ Georgia win). All of these folks supported Bernie Sanders in his 2016 primary contest with Hillary Clinton. This highlights Sanders’ enduring credibility with the progressive Left, and his influence among Democratic candidates and the Democratic base in the upcoming November midterm elections.
In Idaho Republicans enjoy a three to one ratio in voter registration. Gem State voters have gone for the GOP presidential candidate in the last seven national contests. The past three governors have been Republicans. As is the current Congressional delegation (4). The May primary usually tells us who the next governor will be, whether it’s the Republican incumbent or the victor in a multi-candidate GOP primary for an open seat. This year that’s Brad Little, Idaho’s current lieutenant governor, who seeks to succeed his boss, Clement “Butch” Otter, the state’s sitting governor, retiring after three terms in office.
On the Democratic side, the gubernatorial nominee has been a sacrificial lamb for the past 23 years, since the late Cecil Andrus, a legendary Idaho political figure, occupied the governor’s office. This period in Idaho’s recent political history has seen hundreds of Democrats lose general election races on all levels across the state, from local municipal and county offices, to congressional and state legislature contests. Paulette Jordan faces an uphill climb, the political equivalent of scaling Mount Everest. She’s a “Feel the Bern” progressive running for the highest office in one of the reddest states in the Union.
That the Idaho Democratic Party would produce her as a gubernatorial candidate in the first place is interesting. The days of centrist Democrats such as Andrus (and another Idaho giant, the late Senator Frank Church) who could appeal to a cross-section of Idaho voters, many of whom worked in such blue-collar occupations as farming, ranching, logging, mining, and other employment related to the public lands, are gone. Then there is the cultural factor: A large percentage of Idaho voters are either evangelical Christians or members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). In 2016 Donald Trump hammered Hillary Clinton 59% to 27% in Idaho (the remaining 13% going to down ballot presidential candidates Gary Johnson and Evan McMullin).
Jordan’s victory is illustrative of the progressive pull to the left of the Idaho Democratic Party. Despite the status of Idaho as a deep red state, the Democrats are no different in their policy positions than their national counterparts. For example, Bernie Sanders beat Hillary Clinton 78% to 21.2 % in the March, 2016 Idaho Democratic caucus. Again, there are fewer of those Andrus-Church Democrats around nowadays.
But the Democrats have no specific vision that they can present to the American electorate. It’s all identity politics coupled with a loathing for Donald Trump that is so visceral and deeply ingrained that it’s become pathological. The Democrats strain our credulity as they attack any and all of his policies, no matter their merit (which are significant, considering the booming American economy and the Administration’s foreign policy stances), thus risking — so the argument goes — their prospects for prevailing in this year’s midterm elections. In the midterm of a president’s first term, history should be on their side, but, then again, it was on their side in 2016. Wasn’t it?
As for Paulette Jordan, the far left minority in Idaho that enthusiastically supported Bernie Sanders in 2016 won’t be enough to give her the keys to the governor’s office. Trump- hatred is not a campaign issue. Neither is identity politics.

But, Why Radio?
1) It’s the most democratic form of media available to the average citizen today.
A radio can be found very inexpensively at almost any thrift store, plugged into an electrical outlet, and the sounds of nearby broadcasts come spilling out, instantly available. The internet, a wonderful place, is rarely provided for free and, because our country is so large, it will take a long time to develop a pervasive public wireless network. And mobile is also a reality – but also has a monthly fee for access. Radio can be heard by anyone, even by a kid with a crystal-based home-made radio or like me, with an old stereo receiver that my parents gave me that has a simple bundle of wire shoved into the antenna port, or streaming online in a browser or your mobile phone . . . the root of the broadcast, radio, is a signal sent into the air and received for free.
And maybe you recall – “technically” we own the airwaves. Throughout the years we’ve reached a place where narrow windows of time exist for new station applications, or you can purchase a frequency for a large chunk of money. Jeff Abrams applied for and successfully received a frequency during one of those window of time when groups could put in an application with the fcc for a non-commercial spot on the dial – and on Sunday April 24, 2011, Wayne Birt hosted the first live terrestrial-broadcast radio show on KRBX.
I’m excited to say that we just completed our spring Radiothon, raising over $45 thousand dollars pledged from over 650 people, ensuring the continuation of our new public resource. Hundreds and hundreds of people have worked to bring or have contributed to the radio station since it was nothing more than a few people sitting around a donated conference room. and maybe you’ve been part of “us”, together, creating its reality.
2) There is almost a limitless amount of music that’s been recorded in the world, yet most of it doesn’t get heard.
up and down the radio dial, most stations are owned by highly- consolidated media organizations – many suggest that it’s 7 corporations (CBS, Time Warner, Clear Channel, Disney, Comcast, News Corp, Viacom) that direct most of the public media we consume every day. Talk about ultimate control of content and discourse. At Radio Boise, djs shape the tone of their shows independently around the loose guidelines of providing sounds that are more like a unique gems than overplayed sameness that exists on other stations.
The internet provides vast means in which you can entertain your ears, most of which at their root are computer programs. When human beings program a show to share on the airwaves, the idea is that a warmth and personality is communicated with awareness of our communities’ nuances that the automated mechanisms cannot provide. That is one definition of community. The station’s goal is to make sure we’re filling a unique niche in music and local-interest programming that is refreshing, engaging, and helps expand our listeners perspective.

March 18
No. 5 Ole Miss stuns Syracuse: It goes to show that you don’t have to be ranked No. 1 to be the team to walk away with a victory as Ole Miss toppled No. 1 Syracuse, 85-80.
March 15
No. 1 Syracuse beats UNC-Greensboro: This game being played a day later due to the snowstorm hitting New York didn’t affect the Orange who, beat No. 8 UNC-Greensboro 90-77.

No. 5 Ole Miss gets a victory: It looks like Ole Miss is taking the NIT very seriously as they put up a solid 91-83 win over No. 4 Monmouth.
No. 7 Oakland earns the upset: The folks at Oakland University are no doubt excited tonight as their squad picked up a decent upset over No. 2 Clemson, 74-69.
No. 4 Colorado State moves on: Colorado State used a strong first half performance to keep enough distance between them and No. 5 Charleston to earn a 81-74 win.
No. 6 Georgia Tech wins: It looks like Georgia Tech is moving on thanks to a 75-63 victory over No. 3 Indiana.
No. 6 Richmond keeps playing: Apparently being seeded sixth is the key to first-round NIT wins as Richmond upset No. 3 Alabama, 71-64.
No. 6 Boise State earns win: It’s another sixth seed topping another No. 3 with Boise State heading to the next round with a 73-68 victory over Utah.
No. 8 Cal-Bakersfield defeats top seed: Looks like there’s a Cinderella in this year’s NIT, and it’s CSUB, which defeated No.1 seed California, 73-66.
Here’s a look at the bracket:
The NIT
Despite a snub-free NCAA tournament Selection Show, the NIT still managed to work out some drama. All it had to do was troll Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim.
Boeheim made headlines last week after bashing the traditional home of the ACC Tournament —Greensboro, N.C. It was a feud he quickly lost.
.@AdamZagoria @ACCSports We kindly disagree. But I guess you can lose in the 1st round anywhere. At least it's a quick ride home.
— City of Greensboro (@greensborocity) March 8, 2017
Boeheim seemingly got the last laugh here though, with his team defeating UNC-Greensboro on Wednesday night.
The NIT pounced on the opportunity to grab a few headlines with its first-round matchups. Top-seeded Syracuse will open up the nation’s second-most prestigious basketball tournament with a showdown against ... UNC-Greensboro. While the Orange won’t have to travel back to Boeheim’s least-favorite college basketball hub, he’ll no doubt have to deal with plenty of questions about the outburst leading up to Tuesday’s game.
Syracuse isn’t the only program to be relegated to the postseason’s second tier by a burst bubble. Iowa, California, Indiana, and Georgia Tech headline the upper crust teams whose inability to make waves in their respective conference tournaments cost them a shot at the Big Dance. They’ll be joined by mid-major standouts like Illinois State, Monmouth, and Belmont — three teams whose weak league schedules gave them few opportunities to claim the quality wins that mean so much to the Selection Committee.
A mid-major team at the top of the bracket after the tournament final would turn last year’s aberration into a trend. Power 5 conference programs have won four of the last five NITs, a streak broken by George Washington last spring. The Redbirds will have the opportunity to stand up for the little guys again in 2017 after drawing a top seed, but will have to get through a quadrant that features Central Florida (and 7’6 center Tacko Fall), Utah, and in-state rival Illinois first..
This year’s NIT will also serve as a testing ground for some new NCAA basketball rules. The tournament will put the following changes in place — and if they’re deemed successful, they could be a part of the game in 2017-18 and beyond.
Each half will be broken into two 10-minute segments.
Team fouls reset at the end of each 10-minute segment.
Teams can accrue four fouls per segment before going into the bonus. Each additional foul will result in the double bonus (two free throws).
In overtime, the foul limit drops from four to three.
When a dead-ball stoppage results in an inbound play from the possessing team’s front court, the shot clock will be reduced from 30 to 20 seconds.
