#like. just. the shock of it all #there’s something about Taylor where her experience of life is so ….. brutal #like I don’t know how else to say it but it just is. life is not easy on her it is always ready to CLOBBER her #and in a way she’s not easy on life. there’s some kind of magnets/opposite poles stuff where she’s just always drawn to the worst things #to feeling them and experiencing them and almost ??? creating them #like I don’t mean to overstate it. and I know she has a family who loves her (thank GOD)#and also she’s very practical and industrious about creating this very Instagram worthy life full of Fine Things and a Fun Time #and of course all the resources in the world at her disposal to create all the trappings of it #whether it’s a celebrity Fourth of July party or the eras tour #and she’ll do it and love it. but as all the best critics know and point out the most fascinating thing about Taylor is always the music #and it’s where all the weirdness and stubbornness and difficulties of her life. her a c t u a l longings her actual fears #her actual terrible awful experiences that she charges headlong down the paths of #is set free! and it’s breathtaking in the most shocking way #like falling through the ice! I always say the first thing that always hits me about a Taylor album is the bitterness #just this blast in the face. and her music is so gentle! in so many ways #and the packaging is so appealing and her voice is so soft and expressive and there is none of that weird experimentation #even musically (remember when she shut down imogen heap for putting a minor chord in clean she was like absolutely not. I’m obsessed)#(with that moment forever)#but like. so much of Taylor’s packaging and life and HER really does SEEM so basic or ordinary or just rich girl ordinary I guess #she likes basic things and wants basic things. but also she is so hungry so restless so angry so wounded the rich internal life is CHURNING #all the time. every second. and it’s spectacular to watch and also I will worry about her until the day I die #or just—-I don’t know. it’s going to be spectacular and it is sometimes going to be awful #but she will keep furiously writing her way through it!!#there IS such a woundedness to her. and it makes me love her so much because it’s packaged in such a way people think it must just be #whining or privilege. but it’s not! it’s just. the human condition and Taylor’s own flaws #okay I’ve lost the plot here a bit in my ramblings but yeah the ice metaphor. insanely perfect

Lies of P (2023)

#I finished lying and penising for the last time…#I got the game for my PS5 after 100%ing it on game pass bc I was so impressed and obsessed I needed to get a physical copy #so I obviously had to 100% it again and I hilariously forgot to read a letter to unlock an achievement #so I had to play the game a FOURTH TIME since you only get the letter at the end and restarting the game wipes all letters from your bag #but that let me do something I LOVE doing with these shorter games #which is putting the effort to give these characters the best endings their quests allow #so I can leave the characters in the world with as much peace as I can #I also did this in majora’s mask with my final run of the game being about doing every single side quest I could and beating ever boss #so that termina would be as peaceful as it would be once the mask was destroyed and skull kid freed #that being said wearing the alidoro mask led to an unintentionally hilarious semi final cutscene #a tear is supposed to roll down your face at one point but instead it was just a completely still super close shot of the dog mask #and I burst out laughing like nooooooo #luckily I’ve scene the ending like 3 times already but can you imagine if that was the only time I’d seen it 😂#I one rounded nameless puppet this time I truly felt like a god I’m so grateful for neowiz for making this game its been so fun #even after beating it like 7 times I know I’ll be playing it again one day and I’m gonna be a preorder ho for the Lies of series #the DLC and sequel can’t come soon I’m so in love with this game I need to eat it #Lies of P #video games #lies of p sophia #lies of p carlo

Has anyone read Fourth Wing translated into another language and did you agree with the Violet/Violence nickname translations in said language? Because I'm reading through the Bulgarian version rn and they. Fucking transliterated it??? With a FOOTNOTE??? Explaining what Violence means in English??? Even though it's not a one-time thing but a recurring nickname and the use of Sudden English Word in-text in what's meant to be flirty, charged and tender moments later is fucking jarring??? I am Shaking With Rage.

#fourth wing #the empyrean #like okay I get it translation is subjective and localising puns and other wordplay is nigh impossible #and even if you localize the terms there will always be a portion of the readers upset with you for 'changing it'#but that's the nature of translation. because translation is also a type of Fucking Art #you could have done something clever with it! something playful and sweet and a lil mocking and flirty #and then if you're so damn upset about losing the Violet/Violence thing just put THAT in a FOOTNOTE #explaining the intentions of the original text and why you've chenged it #this is like if in Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets voldemort rearranges his name for Harry to spell out #'I am Lord Voldemort' but use his English name so the letters don't fit and then in a footnote explain that #oh well IN ENGLISH IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE- like stfu??? are you or are you not a translator?? do you or do you not know #how to use creative liberties when faced with a phrase that doesn't have a direct translation from one language to another???#wtf are they teaching you in class how to become google translate??? don't translate the words translate The Vibes! Starting a little collection of times when Rose says/does something cute and silly and you can literally see the hearts coming out of Blanche and Dorothy

#was tempted to add dorothy entering the room behind rose in that first one bc her smile is just so precious <3 #but it works better like this overall i feel #the second one is technically cheating bc dorothy is happy about having sophia's box again. but i will count it because this is MY gifset #and i get to decide what goes in it <3 #blanche asking 'did you really know that rose?' in the third set is so precious to me <3 #as is dorothy saying 'welcome back sweetheart' in the fourth set <3 #and rose is always adorable ofc. her face when she rescues fernando is everything to me <3 just look at her!!!#fernando's subplot was sincerely top notch! one of my favourite b-plots!! it's simply too sweet #i still haven't figured out how to use the sharpen tool on photoshop :') so my primary goal for this set was missed i'm afraid #i did have fun choosing the moments and making them tho so i'm counting this as an overall success #and besides any time spent staring at these beautiful ladies is time well spent in my book #they <333 #the golden girls #golden wives #feel free to suggest any additions to this collection btw!! i'd love to have others #gifs
