"Blood moon"

This one originally started out as an ACEO I did about half a year ago. I couldn't let go of the design and decided to paint-over the scans I had and keep working on it.

So I finally read Looking Forward by Maya Henry

And... Here are my thoughts

1) Liam's record company/ the people he surrounds himself with are real villians. Not only do they lie a bunch and keep Liam under heavy surveillance (even his therapist gives "assessment reports" to his manager), they also expect Maya to basically be his manager? Assistant? babysitter? mommy? For free. And all f time.

2) She had to get out. And the switch in his behaviour on drugs must've been sofucking hard..i mean The first half of the book had me wishing Liam was my boyfriend and he's always been my least favourite member of the band. The abortion was horrific. Truly horrific. And the axe night was the stuff of nightmares. I'm glad she got out. And she has the right to talk about it. Period

3) Liam needs help. Serious Help. He needs to get out of whatever bullshit music contract he is tied up in (if any) and focus on sobriety and therapy? Which includes having *sober* people he can rely and trust around him. Probably not the boys tho maybe someone like Chappel Roan? Or Beiber? Lol idk.

4) It's not hard or a stretch to believe his behaviour in the book - the narcissism, anger and almost split personality - based on his own admissions in public appearances. (Diary of aCeo podcast, Logan Paul Podcast, Random other viewings)

5) This book could've been heavily edited. Although the illustrations are working!

6) The sexts with fans are disgusting

More art I get to finally show :D This one is for a monthly trade event I'm hosting, for once I actually participated in september! my trading partner gave me some things to choose from, among others Disa from the new LotR show. I know nothing about it, but she looks cool and I thought the concept of stone singing is neat, reminds me of the Geode class from DSA, I think they can do something similar. (or maybe not, it's been quite a while since I built one)

Humans are still quite a struggle, especially the face and skin colouring, and doing that kind of lighting was not helping - hope it still kinda reads as dark skin, I did my best!

I've been reluctant to share WIPs recently because I've been having a hard time finishing much, but this one's almost done and I actually feel pretty good about it! Feels nice to finish something bigger than an ACEO for the first time in quite a while, edging back into enjoying getting lost in little details like I used to.

Needs a few more details and shading/highlight work. I'll probably work on it over the next few days, it's nice to take a break and look at it later with fresh eyes sometimes, especially when I'm trying to figure out how close to DONE something is.

Knock on wood but I hope my multi year burnout is finally coming to an end. I miss making complex pieces.

I think Mingyu is currently shifting his focus from his love life to his career. He might have broken up with someone recently and is still hoping for a good turn? I kinda think that his partner hurt him and that they both decided to end the relationship, but now he is lonely and hoping for a good end... He might even hope that there will be someone coming soon. I hear illusion quite a lot, and mostly in the case where someone is very pissed off and just disgusted by the thought that they were tricked by an illusion. Okay, anyways, whatever happened that definitely hurt him, he is trying to 'forget' about it and focus on other things.

I'm getting ready to try selling my art in person for the first time ever and I'm bordering on manic about it. Like "difficulty sleeping and probably investing too much money weeks out" vibes lol... The chippy is new. Felt good to create again even if it's very rough around the edges (I might do a little bit more with it, we'll see). I have a few more of those 4"x4" canvases and a few 2.5"x3.5" ones to use up so I have some originals to offer If I have good printer paper in time I may also try to make some prints of the butterfly wing series I made a long while back. Always loved the idea of ACEOs and if I can figure out how to print them myself, it'd be really fun to make a few 3-card sets of different stuff ~

Since I'm reworking my OCs, I've been looking at some of my older art and... you know what, I'm gonna share some, even though nobody but me cares about them 😆

But these are some that I still really like, even though I can see how much I've progressed since I've drawn these.

These were some of my first experiments with watercolour, and I fell in love with using them.

Wednesday is the day for works in progress. And I guess this is the start of another project, of word cards? Because I don't have enough started unfinished things already… Those are drawn on A7 format file cards (about 3 by 4 inches), and I'll cut them down to ACEO size.

I needed to scratch some OC itches and also wanted to do some humanoid ACEOs again (after several years) and for a while I've had this urge to paint something with pretty colors too, soooo this happened. Not perfect nor anything special, but I had fun doing it and I still love the result. :D I'm actually surprised I pretty much don't give a shit about the glaring imperfections at all here, I can't remember that ever happening before. The amount it affects my joy about this is literally ZERO. It's nice! I could get used to that.

My mind does not work in inches (metric system for the win) Because I made my sketches digitally, it was only after I transferred them to paper that I realized how tiny these paintings were going to be! It strangely helped me focus more on brushstrokes and not obsess to much about the details.

my first love out of high school (over 45 years ago, before internet and digital technology) was photography, i especially loved portraiture and street photography but was always to introverted and solitary to do anything about it (my then-wife stuck all these photos into a shoebox labelled 'rusty nails and pothole', fair enough).

so now, using AI and other digital tools, i get to do portraiture of a sort, in a vintage style (as well as other fine art forms) i adore … with the added bonus of appealing to that part of me that loves the unusual, the slightly twisted, the downright freaky, fantastical, the odd and unusual. in other words, just me being me, pursuing the things i love and following my own little fascinations.
