it's 2025 and orihime is still my favorite bleach character ever because of just. everything she is, all of it. from the very first peek we get into her life, we learn that she's so fundamentally unlikeable that even her parents despise her (a literal baby), and this pattern repeats yet again into middle school, where she falls victim to bullying. her own brother turns into a monster and resents her for trying to bounce back from grief. everything she does is wrong. even from a meta standpoint, orihime has never been widely liked, and even when she has, it's sometimes followed by a disclaimer or an 'i like her, BUT-" which is soooo congruent to how she is in canon as well? in a way, perhaps, no other bleach character is? what she is and goes through in-universe is exactly what she is and goes through out in the real world as well. of course, in canon as well as outside of it, there has always been a small group of people who fiercely love her too (in-universe, it's her friends, and outside it's...well. it's us, those of us who love her). but the point is. i've never seen a character who is so meta in her existence, who is always going through things on a double-layer - how other characters respond to her in the story vs how fans respond to her in their discourse. there's no separation from Orihime The Character (as she exists in text) and Orihime The Topic (the discussions we have about her as a character). there is a certain type of bleach fan who is a loly and menoly equivalent in the real world, there is a certain type of bleach fan who is a shishigawara/kon equivalent in the real world, there is a certain type of bleach fan who is an ulquiorra, challenging her worldviews, pushing her into corners to prove herself, and of course, there is a tatsuki or an ichigo, fighting for our lives defending her and it's just. so interesting. it makes orihime more real, more grounded to me than any other bleach character. how characters respond to her in the story is often EXACTLY how people respond to her in real life. plenty of times, we've gotten to see characters' inner thoughts and their POVs, but we haven't gotten much insight into the ways other characters see them, how they're perceived by several other characters, but orihime is. she is so discussed (BOTH by the other bleach characters, AND the fans), and the diversity of these discussions is so present too. her powers, her love life, her flaws, her personality,,,,,all of it is a major part of the storyline, as WELL as the discourse. it's inescapable. SHE is inescapable.

I'm so glad Chappell Roan is making music for lesbians who are sluts. So much sapphic music is like "I want to hold a pretty girl's hand and maybe give her a kiss <3" and there's nothing wrong with that inherently because we all have different experiences in different stages of our identity journeys, however I unironically think that Chappell Roan's music being so explicitly about loving and being attracted to women romantically AND sexually, is going to help so many young lesbians work through their internalized homophobia and the very real tendency for lesbians to feel ashamed of the sexual attraction part of their identities

“Something is up with Tommy,” Buck says as soon as he sits down across from Eddie in craft services.

“Mngyeah?” Eddie makes a curious noise, still chewing his burger.

“Hen and Chimney won’t tell me what,” Buck complains, taking a bite of his own burger.

“What’re you talking about?” Eddie says after he’s swallowed, “Nothing’s up with Tommy. I just talked to him like ten minutes ago.”

“Last night Chimney said he couldn’t ‘get over’ how different Tommy looks now,” Buck explains, before stealing one of Eddie’s fries even though he’s got his own, “And now neither of them will tell me what that means. They keep saying it’s private and none of their business.”

He’s expecting Eddie to be equally curious. He’s expecting this to be one of those things where they can gossip together and try and figure out what the hell that could possibly mean. Maybe Tommy used to be short and got that fucked up leg lengthening surgery. Isn’t that interesting to think about?

Instead, Eddie’s face goes through several different emotions in quick succession. Confusion morphs into surprise, morphs into realization, before Eddie’s face lands on an expression that can only be described as ‘oops!’

“You also know!?” Buck demands, incensed, “How?! You didn’t know Tommy back then!” 

Looking harried, Eddie shoves the burger into his mouth and takes a huge bite.

“I cannot believe you,” Buck says accusatorily, “It’s just a question! Chimney said it’s not a big deal!”

Eddie chews guiltily and avoids eye contact. Buck puts his burger down and crosses his arms, ready and willing to wait Eddie out.

“It’s not a big deal,” Eddie says in a pained voice after he’s finished chewing, “But it is private.

“Does this mean Bobby knows?” Buck demands, “He knew Tommy back then too.”

“I don’t know if Bobby knows,” Eddie says firmly, leaning in and getting serious, “Dude, it’s so not any of my fucking business. It’s not your business either. You really need to ask Tommy, and you need to be prepared that he might not tell you.”

“But he told you,” Buck says sourly, “I’m the last to know.”

“I technically found out on accident,” Eddie says, before wincing and flapping his hand dismissively, “And trust me, you’re not the last.”

meet dolores madrigal!

dolores is the leader of the group! though it may not seem like it from the outside looking in, she is responsible for the formation of las milagras! dolores is studying literature but in her free time prefers songwriting! she got the idea to form a group and asked the other girls if they were interested! and so las milagras were born! dolores is known for being especially cryptic in interviews, social media or general interactions with fans! she’s very secretive about her writing material and will opt for using riddles or codes to hint at announcements, often confusing just about everyone with it! though not the most open in person, dolores writes with such a passion and vulnerability that really connects with the fans! her absolute favorite songs to write are ballads as she pours her heart out on stage! dolores is leading in all the business and creative decisions regarding the group and the other girls will often go to her for advice on just about anything! dolores is insecure about her stage presence compared to the others as whilst she’s the lead vocalist she feels overshadowed by the likes of isabela who seems to captivate everyone. dolores loves bringing out her guitar for the slower songs and will often just sit on the stage taking in the moment! the hardest part is keeping all of this a secret from her (not so smart) boyfriend, mariano! having the popstar name dolores when her real name is delores doesn’t seem the smartest move but somehow mariano has not caught on. like at all.

Im sorry if this sounds wrong since I don't exactly know how to word this but, Does your Galacta Knight have an accent? For Starspeak? If he does, how would it sound?

this is a super interesting question, but not one i've given much thought! i don't typically think a great deal about how characters sound or 'voice claims'. even less so for kirby characters, as none of them speak our language or live on our planet! the idea that any of them would have any sort of recognisable accent or voice at all is not really one i hold.

that said, when i've described galacta knight speaking in my writing, i've used words like "smooth" and "purposeful" and "low" and "quiet". not necessarily "deep" or a low octave- i don't really have thoughts about that- but just kind of measured and composed. i think he speaks the way tigers stalk their prey; patiently and with great intention. if he doesn't have something he wants to be heard, he doesn't say anything.

i think if he were to have any sort of accent, it would be similarly purposeful and he'd be able to alternate any intergalactic accent with relative fluency. he'd put it on like a glove to sell any kind of lie he liked- that he's from here, that he's got gentle intentions, that you can trust him- and take it off just as easily.

i do think that galacta knight probably has a slightly stiff/formal way of speaking in the modern times, but not terribly so. probably no more than meta knight, who is pretentious by choice.
