I want you ask you since you are Australian and in the industry or at least adjacent to it. I've heard that Sam has cancelled his ABN and my understanding is that Australian actors working in Australia have to have ABN to get paid legally. Maybe I'm wrong, if I am please explain how it works. But what are your thoughts about what that indicates about Sam's future career plans if anything at all?

Oh! This is not a question I ever thought I'd be answering on tumblr-dot-com, anon, hahaha. No, he doesn't need to have an ABN as an actor to work legally in Australia, a lot of the actors that I work with don't have one.

In Australia, everyone has a Tax File Number which is what you legally have to have to be able to work here. An ABN is an Australian Business Number, which every company has to have, and if you're operating as a sole trader, you're technically operating as a business in and of yourself. Basically if you're self-employed, and offering services from sex work to business consultation, you have both a TFN and an ABN, and which you use depends on whether you're acting as an employee or as a business.

So for myself as a writer for instance, if I am copywriting under a longer contract with a company, I usually go on the company payroll and use my TFN, but if I sell a short story or write a one-off document for instance, I use my ABN because I am not being employed by the journal, anthology or magazine, they're just purchasing a service that I offer or art that I made. They are engaging me for a one-off service, not paying for me to work for them.

ABNs are important more for actors when they're still jobbing? Like for instance at the theatre company I work at, the core cast will all be on payroll for a show's season - they are being employed by the theatre company for the show, so they will be using their TFNs - but if one of the cast members got sick and we had to call in an understudy, the understudy would usually use their ABN as they're basically being contracted in to backfill an employee, and aren't technically an employee of the theatre company itself in the way that core actors are for a season of a show. We're engaging them for the product that they offer - acting - for a one-off engagement - the night the main actor is sick -, not hiring them to work at the company.

An ABN is more important for actors when you're booking a lot of short term jobs like doing one episode of something here, or a commercial there, because those productions usually don't want to put you on payroll. You're not a consistent expense for them, and they're engaging you to deliver a few lines and be a plot tool for the main actors aka the actual employees to work with, not employing you for the duration of a job. If you're a lead actor or supporting actor in something like, say The Newsreader, though, you'd be on the payroll as an employee of the production for the three or four months it'd take to shoot because you'd be working consistent hours at a consistent rate. So yeah, Sam would be hired as an employee, not a company providing a short-term service.

If it's an indication of anything, it'd be more I'd say a sign of him stepping up as a lead and knowing short term contracts are probably less likely to be a part of his career moving forwards. That said, my ABN was actually cancelled three weeks ago randomly too, as was a friend's, so I think the government's been doing a sweep of them lately (they do them occasionally to get rid of dead ones). They're not hard to re-activate - I got on the phone and it was done in 15 minutes - so that could've happened to him too.

Special Containment Procedures: The entire perimeter of SCP-ABN has been closed off from the rest of the world via barbed wire fence. The cover story is the area is a private military satellite base; as such, anyone who goes through the fence is to expect to be shot under legal jurisdiction. 

SCP-ABN-1 individuals are not given civil rights under Protocol "Anomalous Lives Matter", due to their constant noncompliance with the Foundation. As such, though Foundation staff are encouraged to not harass SCP-ABN-1 individuals, if they do so anyways, they will not be reprimanded. Mobile Task Force Apollo-1 "Orion's Belt" is to ensure none of Species of Interest: The Colonists get close to earth's orbit, especially near where SCP-ABN is.

Description: SCP-ABN is an isolated village that actually goes by the "Kindred" as both the village name and the faith practiced. The citizens of SCP-ABN, classified as SCP-ABN-1, claim their religion practices purity and abandonment of the materialism of the modern world. However, in reality they are human-alien hybrids created by Species of Interest: The Colonists. Supposedly SCP-ABN-1 individuals were one of the many experiments created to help The Colonists take over earth; however, there is currently not enough data to confirm this. Each SCP-ABN-1 individual has the same anomalous ability to release pheromones from their bodies that make anyone of the opposite gender both trust them unconditionally and even desire sex with them. Unfortunately, the pheromones are not compatible with human biology and will often overload the body leading to cardiac arrest. 

The village of SCP-ABN consists of normal structures of a religious small village such as a church, a farm, several houses, and other common structures. However, below one of the barns of SCP-ABN is an anomalous cavern system labeled as SCP-ABN-2. A strange liquid naturally grows within SCP-ABN-2 that has the ability to change the structure of inorganic material like clay making the cavern system look biological in nature. Most curiously SCP-ABN-1 individuals can use the liquid of SCP-ABN-2 to regain their young whenever one of them is dying of old age and change their gender as a result. Why their gender always changes when they are being rejuvenated is unknown.

Even among the SCP-ABN-1 instances, there is an anomaly as they can change genders whenever desired, the named of this anomaly is Marty. Marty, labeled as SCP-ABN-3 was originally very hostile towards the Foundation and like the other SCP-ABN-1 individuals has tried to manipulate Foundation staff multiple times, all of which have failed. However, SCP-ABN-3 has shown an interest in the modern world and unlike the SCP-ABN-1 instances, wants to experience more. SCP-ABN-3 has no desire to be taken away by Species of Interest: The Colonists and wishes to remain on earth. As such, the Anomalous Employment Division is currently working with them to see if working with the Foundation is a possibility in the near future. However, The O5 Council and the Ethics Committee have made sure to restrict any conditions that will allow SCP-ABN-3 to have privacy especially in regards to civilians.

SCP-ABN was discovered in 1994 after a series of killings where people would die of cardiac arrest due to pheromone overdose. Naturally normal law enforcement was stumped but Foundation agents within knew this as common anomalous activity and reported to the higher ups. Thanks to satellites and undercover investigation SCP-ABN-3 was found and contained by the Foundation. After extensive questioning and torture SCP-ABN-3 opened up about their village and anomalous properties.

Once the village of SCP-ABN was revealed, the Foundation sent two Mobile Task Force Iota-10 "Damn Feds" units to investigate with their standard FBI disguises. However, upon doing so the SCP-ABN-1 individuals surrounded them and demanded they give up their weapons. As per standard protocol, they had no choice but to retreat. Later that night, Mobile Task Force Epsilon-6 "Village Idiots" raided the village and quickly overwhelmed the SCP-ABN-1 individuals. MTF Epsilon-6 units were equipped with masks and protective gear to ensure the pheromones of SCP-ABN-1 individuals would have no effect. As such the SCP-ABN-1 instances willingly surrender all of their secrets and anomalous abilities. 

Side Note: Three days after the perimeter fence was built around SCP-ABN, Persons of Interest: Fox Mulder and Dana Scully arrived to question the SCP-ABN-1 instances in regard to the murders committed by SCP-ABN-3. This unfortunately led to an unwanted interaction between them and Security units of the area. Please see addendum X-72 for details.

The following is a recording of the interaction between Persons of Interest Fox Mulder and Dana Scully and the MTF units guarding SCP-ABN.

Security Unit 1: Hey you! What are you doing here!

Dana Scully: Sorry, I am agent-

Security Unit 2: we don't give a shit who you are! Get out of here now! This is a restricted area! 

Fox Mulder: Hey, calm down, we just wanna know where they Kindred are.

Security Unit 1: ... what the fuck is the Kindred? I already told you this is a restricted area, now get lost!

Dana Scully: But we were told there was a religious village known as the Kindred who lived up here. 

Security Unit 2: Well, whoever told you that is full of shit. Turn around now or we will be forced to fire upon you!

Fox Mulder: Take it easy, will you? We're not doing anything illegal.

Security Unit 1: You're not even supposed to be up here Agent Mulder, last warning, get out now!

Fox Mulder: ... I didn't tell you my name.

Security Unit 1: Wha- what?

 Fox Mulder: My name! I didn't tell you my name.

Security Unit 1: Uh... Agent Scully! Get Agent Mudlder out of here now or we will shoot you both!

Fox Mulder: She didn't tell you her name either!

Security Unit 2: Argh! Just get the hell out of here! You're not above the law you damned feds! We are fully authorized to kill you if you don't comply!

Fox Mulder: Wait a minute, I recognize those symbols, you're from the same guys form the Arctic! Who the hell are you guys?!

Both Security Units shot at the ground in front of Fox Mulder and Dana Scully causing them to get back out of shock and fear. 

Security Unit 1: You fucking deaf or something! Get the fuck out now!

Afterwards Fox Mulder and Dana Scully retreated back into town and went to the local diner, a Foundation agent posing as a waiter gave them both coffees with Amnestics to make them forget the incident. However, as standard for Person of Interest: Fox Mulder, he is immune to Foundation Amnestics. It is unknown my Amnestics don’t work on Fox Mulder as memetics and other hypnotic treatment as well as certain memory alteration drugs made by the US government but not Amnestics. Regardless, both Security Units were punished for leaking even minor information to Fox Mulder by being reassigned to transportation duty of SCP-682.

Update 1999: Foundation Researchers have finally found out how to use the liquid created within SCP-ABN-2 to manipulate human DNA as well. However, testing with expandable D-Class Personal has shown that it's still unstable and prone to leave side effects on the user. Dr. Zeek has formed a team in hopes of using SCP-ABN to improve Foundation immortality, allow transgender personnel to transition less painfully as is commonplace when using SCP-113, and perhaps allow Foundation agents to hide in plain sight without the need of Foundation facial surgery. 

Update 2004: Dr. Zeek's team has succeeded in creating a new biological manipulative substance using SCP-ABN-2 as well as various other SCP's. This new substance is called SCP-[data expunged]. It is used sparingly because [data expunged].
