You feel disoriented by everything going on, his passionate kisses leaving you dazed. As you lean away from him to get some air he keeps pushing your head back in for more. When you finally break free, he intertwines your hands together, and you can't help but follow him home.

On your waist two hands help guide you through the large crowd of the concert venue. They keep you from tripping or running into people but what you're most focused on is the sweet scent coming from your very girlfriend and her firm grip on you. The very sweetness of it is almost sickening and yet it's all you want to smell as you think of leaving the venue, only to go home and collapse on the couch with her.

All around the farmhouse are sticky notes for you to find. Maybe one on the carton of milk or one on the bathroom mirror. It doesn't matter, they're all little love poems that had been written just for you. Each one making your heart swell with adoration for your one and only husband.

'Just one more' he always tells you. Just one more. But it's never just one more. He gets one and then he wants another, always claiming 'it's really the last one' when you both know it's not. But, you really don't mind seeing your puppy-like boyfriend beg you for another and another, promising it's the last. You love watching his lips form a smile when he knows he's getting his 'one more'.

Whenever you sit beside each other in public she likes to have some form of contact. Especially if you're ignoring her so you can talk to someone you know. She'll not so subtly grab your hand and place it on her knee. Whether it's the feeling of you seeming more possessive like this or just the closeness of the action, she never fails to do it. 

-Shane

It's a struggle leaving Shane sometimes. He'll hold onto you tightly, his face buried in your neck. You can feel the kisses he peppers along your bare skin which makes it harder to leave. But, you also know you have a whole farm to take care of. You try your best to wriggle out of his arms, telling him to let go. He only shakes his head and mumbles a "no" in response. It's endearing, really. In the end you give in, if just for a little.

You love Alex, you really do. But you hate when he looks for you after a sweaty workout. You could just be minding your own business and he'll just waltz right up to you acting like he only wants to give you a kiss or hold your hand. And then, then he does it. He moves your hand up to his sweaty forehead while they're intertwined only to wipe the back side of your hand on all that sweat. It's gross and wet. But the way he smiles as if he's so proud of himself makes every bit of it worth it.

It doesn't matter where you are or who's around you. She loves you and wants to show the whole world how much. She'll kiss you and kiss you repeatedly everywhere, anywhere. It always leaves you swooning by the end of the day, your heart practically ready to burst at the slightest touch. Especially when you see the goofy lovesick smile she gives you after each one. You just can't get enough.

The first week on the farm had been all too busy, tilling the old sandy dirt day in and day out to plant crops, whacking tree debris and stones out of the way to make a barebone path through the property. Not to mention, the fluffy golden retriever pup the nice lady from the Ranch had dropped off at your farm. Covered in mud, twigs and fleas, you swore it took your whole day just to scrub the poor thing clean.

With that in the forefront of your mind, the last thing you were concerned about was making an impression upon the town. So when you finally shuck on some clothes that weren't stained green with grass and clip on your new Pups harness you were ready to face the music.

The early morning breeze urged your feet to move, up past the bus stop and into the towns entrance. Your dog was keen to sniff around, pulling against the harness with some resistance. Until it suddenly bounded ahead, yanking you along as it barked and drooled, eventually toppling over a poor man standing by a tree.

Before you could profusely apologize you find the person scritching and scratching your playful puppy, taking all the slobbery licks and kisses your dog has to offer. It's soon you realise that the man has his own set of bouncy, golden ears, and a happy tail wagging along with your dog's.

Alex making a drop by the farm for his Granny, passing out her famous homemade cookies as a favour for her. He spots a neat fence keeping in a small heard of cattle with you inside, patting the spotted fur of the cows and setting down a metal pail to collect their milk.

For some reason, he can't help but be jealous. Tail whipping side to side, brow scrunching ever so slightly. Why can't he get pats on his head too? He's barely any different to them.

All that we could do with this

I usually treat the world of Stardew Valley as its own, but I've long wanted a Haley/Sam thing where they fall for each other while debating the merits of Carly Rae Jepsen's oeurve. Haven't got a lot of bandwidth for writing still, so have the outline.

Sam hears Call Me Maybe blasting out of Haley's window and gets on his favorite music forum to rant about his neighbor's taste.

Little does he know, Haley is a member of the forum and is 99% sure this guy dissing CRJ is Sam. The timing is just too precise. She decides to see how long she can mess with him online before he figures out it's her. All in good fun, right?

She accuses him of letting his genre biases cloud his recognition of one of the best songwriters ever, so Sam begrudgingly listens to all of E•MO•TION since it's the one user forgetme_getme_not swears is the one that will change his mind.

Slowly, slowly, as the songs work their way through his head, he understands that it really is emotion; it's an ode to desire and love and heartbreak, from the cuteness of I Really Like You to the way Gimmie Love crosses the brink from crush to plea-slash-confession, to the twist of a promise of true companionship in All That to the mascara-ruining devastation of Your Type, and on and on and on. This online stranger was onto something. What else has he missed? What else can they trade?

Offline, in town, Sam starts to talk to Haley. Sees her on her doorstep and makes conversation — "You know, I used to hate your music, but ...." They have an impromptu jam session when she starts to sing along from her room while he's trying to figure out that funky guitar on Boy Problems in his. This turns into frequent sing-alongs through their windows, shouting "Baby!!" together during Run Away With Me. One saloon Friday, they dance to I Didn't Just Come Here to Dance. His bandmates are bemused, but they're down to add a cover of Black Heart to the setlist.

Online, Sam tells his anonymous music buddy, maybe it's the Let's Get Lost of it all, but he's starting to feel something for his neighbor. They're having so much fun together. He might have misjudged her, just like he misjudged CRJ. Should he make a move?

Haley freaks out. This isn't what she had in mind; she just wanted to teach Sam a lesson in pop music. Sure, they're friends now, and sure, they have more in common than she expected, but that's it, right? Right?! This is all getting a little too Warm Blood for her.

It's Sam's turn to put two and two together. Haley's window has been closed and quiet for a while, and forgetme_getme_not hasn't been online for roughly the same time. He pulls out Fever from Side B and plays it himself, acoustic, from his window. No response.

Time for the best friends to intervene. Sebastian, Abigail, and Alex are tired of their pals being idiots. They get the farmer to throw a barbecue or something and contrive to lock Sam and Haley in the greenhouse together ("She likes sunflowers; I'll let you pick one" / "The sunflowers have come up nicely; why don't you check them out?").

Haley blurts out her admission about being his forum buddy. Sam says he knows and doesn't care. There's some soft kissing and a trade in giggles and little revelations. Favourite Colour plays over the end credits.

Tuesday's Stardew Valley Canon Pairings Hot Takes

* (This includes the actual married couples and psuedo-couples that are implied to be canon if the player didn't intervene)

I'll start with Maru and Harvey because I've already given my opinion on them, but I'll go into a little more depth. Harvey looks like he's mid 30s or early 40s while Maru is apparently young enough for Demetrius to get protective of her when the player is basically just getting friendly at that point. Is Harvey different because he's a doctor? I feel like Demetrius would notice how unprofessional it is for an employer to date an employee, but what do I know? This isn't Maru's fault, though the vague information from canon makes me uneasy.

Speaking of Demetrius, I want to say that Robin and Demetrius are the best couple in the game. I love the way they dance together at the saloon on Fridays, you can tell they're still very much in love. They have disagreements, but they ultimately care about each other.

Sebastian and Abigail feels kinda one-sided? Like it's implied Seb has a crush on Abi, but he doesn't consider her a friend even though she comes to visit him. It's always "Sam is the only friend I have" or something along those lines. Not that I really ship Seb with Sam (Sam feels too immature to be in a relationship rn) but I feel like Seb and Abi are just paired together because they're both alt.

Sam and Penny just feels chaotic on all ends. Sam can't even have the player over at night without panicking about his Mommy—does Penny really need that energy in her life? She's already kinda caring for the only two children in the valley, she doesn't need to have a third child on her hands. This feels like the couple that used to be high school sweethearts only to grow to resent each other as time passes on.

Jodi and Kent is hard for me to read into fairly. I mean, Kent isn't even there for the first year and when he does come home, he seems emotionally detached to everything. I don't remember a time where Kent really talks about his role as a father or husband. Not Kent's fault, he literally has PTSD, it's just that Kent and Jodi don't really feel happy together.

Leah and Elliott, on the other hand, just make sense with each other. They look like they were literally made for one another. Part of me feels bad whenever I try to split them up because I don't think I could make them as happy as they make each other.

Alex and Haley bring out the worst in each other. There's a reason they don't talk to each other as much once they start their character development. Alex likes Haley because she's pretty, Haley likes Alex because he's handsome. Nothing more to say.

Evelyn and George are sweet. It can lean a little into "boomer wife humor" territory at times, but some of it makes sense if you consider that George has internalized ableism and he doesn't like having lack of agency (I mean, would you want to be dragged into the freezing snow against your will in a metal wheelchair, regardless of whether it was the festival you met your spouse at?). Evelyn cares about George a lot though and it's sweet how she tries to get him to see people still care about him. I feel like she's why George has the motivation to wake up each morning (that, and taking care of his grandson). I don't want to make this too long, but they're a sweet elderly couple and I like their dynamic.

Pierre and Caroline are meh. Part of that is because I see Pierre as "smug seed dispenser" and Caroline as "the woman who is probably into essential oils and is anti-vax" erm, "the tea lady who doesn't have much of an identity outside her family and her tea room". Other people have made better observe about them, though I don't know if they really love each other. Doesn't really help that Pierre is usually selling stuff during festivals instead of spending time with his family.

Emily and Clint is a HUGE "hell no" for me. Clint has incel vibes and it's confirmed when he completely ghosts her after she gets into a relationship...and Emily still wanted to be his friend! Clint shouldn't even be getting mad when he can't even talk to Emily without the player threatening to never upgrade their tools again.

Emily and Shane only really exists as a pairing because the two of them weren't designed to be suitors at first, but I like them a lot more than Clint and Emily. Shane is always around the bar, so they'd interact quite a bit. They both care about animals deeply (look at me and tell me Emily wouldn't be thrilled about the Blu chickens!). I can see them working as a couple.

Not going to lie, I nearly forgot about Lewis and Marnie. They're the tabloid gossip couple and no one would be thinking that if Lewis wasn't too pathetic to be open about his relationship with Marnie. You've been misusing the budget to make a golden statue of yourself, Lewis, dating Marnie is the least of your problems. Stop making out in bushes and just be honest ffs. It's not like Lewis has any competition if he's been mayor for over 20 years...
