Mother's Instinct (15): A Thrilling Psychological Rollercoaster.
#onemannsmovies #filmreview of "Mother's Instinct". #MothersInstinct. A twisty turny psychological thriller that Hitchcock would be proud of. 4/5.
A One Mann’s Movies review of “Mother’s Instinct” (2024). What a treat to see a psychological thriller where you can be genuinely surprised by the twists and turns. “Mother’s Instinct” delivers just that, bolstered by excellent performances by two of the finest actresses working today. Bob the Movie Man Rating: Plot Summary: It’s 1960 and Celine (Anne Hathaway) and Alice (Jessica Chastain)…

I believe this list can be expanded. Somewhere I’ve written only chaps when some reference was mentioned for the first time and omitted all further mentions.
Special thanks to hello-vampire-kitty, joydoesathing and passmeabook, because some works wouldn’t be included in the list without their observations.

How Various Members of Site Command React to Sudden Hugs
Okay, this is by no means at complete list of who's huggable on site and who isn't, and HR would have maid-waifuless kittens if they found out I even made this list. That being said... it's a lot safer to hug some staffers than others.
First, no one on record has tried hugging Dr. Gears. But, should someone be brave or crazy enough to try it... he might get to tolerate it with repeated attempts.
Second, hugging Dr. Bright is just encouraging him to be a perv. Stick to pats on the head. On second though... just don't touch Dr. Bright.
Third, Dr. Glass gives the warmest hugs, next to Cain, 999, and 343 themselves. 10/10, highly recommend hugging him if you had a bad day.
Fourth, Dr. Iceberg. Yeah... Sadly, I think only his partner Quinn can get away with that one. Anyone else would wind up with at least a literal cold shoulder.
Clef is most likely to just ninja hug the crap out of you in retaliation if you do this to him first. My ribs still hurt from this morning's clingy ambush. More likely to happen if he's hungover.
Dr. Rights is a hugger. Do not hug unless you're free for ten minutes at least.
Do not ninja hug Dr. Gerald. He likes hugs, but... exaggerated startle responses are not fun. Approach slowly from the front once consent is given, do not squeeze.
Cain will turn terracotta red if hugged off guard. Agent Nordstrom thinks it's adorable.
It is nearly impossible to ninja hug 343. He still loves hugs, so feel free to try. Just... not with whiskey in hand. It's a sin to waste good alcohol.
Dr. Light is fond of hugs. For the record, if she really likes you, she squeezes.
Ninja hugging 999 means you sink into him a tiny bit, like jumping onto a huge Jello lump. Just don't build up too much speed. I recommend this on those really crap days.
Assuming you locate him, hugging Dr. Kondraki will have one of two results: him either shouting at you or dragging you down to the local karaoke bar to get smashed and sing 90's heavy metal off key with him. If he's already half pickled with booze first, it's the latter. There is no in between.
Dr. Shaw will also blush if hugged. It's sweet. Also gives very gentle hugs.
Dr. Myriad, however... be prepared for a rib-bruising hug in return.
Iris is not a hugger. Only family and Agent Markovich can hug her and live.
Do not attempt to hug Dr. Mann. He's not a touchy feely guy, you will be shot at.
Agent Strelnikof likes hugs, believe it or not. Bonus if the hugger is a pretty woman.
Do not hug Agent Dimitriov around 076-2, unless Abel agrees. Agent Okame was just trying to help, you didn't need to kill her, Big Brother! No GTA5 for three weeks.
There was one intern who actually hugged 294 after it produced "a perfect duplicate of my nan's hot chocolate, right down to the correct color of marshmallow Peep". The machine did seem to perform better for the rest of the day, but the test was never duplicated.
Dr. Kain Pathos-Crow is hit and miss on hugging. But... he loves a good ear scratch, like most canine lifeforms.
Dr. Cimmerian gives great hugs, at a dollar a piece. If you're good at something, never do it for free.
Hugging Agent Lombardi will get you punched. Don't.
No hugging Lieutenant Tori. She will shoot you. In the knee. With buckshot. Twice for repeat offenders.
No surprise hugs with Dr. Sherman, lest you get a lecture on consent. Best to just bring him a coffee. He's nice, just a stickler for decorum on site.
I myself welcome hugs from almost anyone except Agent O'Hare for obvious reasons, and Dr. Bright, again for obvious reasons. Just mind my teacup, please.

The canon! Hazbin cast plus my versions of cain, abel eve, generally the older characters are all played by veteran broadway stars & VAs while the younger characters like evan, mattias, georgina, etc are played by newer pop stars & actors. Flora and cassie are played by gospel singers like tamela mann. The only characters who dont sing are Harmonia due to her overly serious nature & Deirdre (aka flora's stalker) due to being completely evil.
Cain is based on death metal, Abel is a hippie/classic rock, Seth is rock, Alchima is gospel rock, and Eve is Beyoncé.

i went to a used book sale today... procured:
railroad color history: new york central railroad (brian solomon & mike schafer) — i'm not actually that into trains but it appealed to me.
the complete guide to the soviet union (jennifer louis & victor louis) — travel guide from 1980
an anthology including the big sleep (raymond chandler), "the undignified melodrama of the bone of contention" (dorothy l. sayers), "the arrow of god" (leslie charteris), "i can find my way out" (ngaio marsh), instead of evidence (rex stout), "rift in the loot" (stuart palmer & craig rice), "the man who explained miracles" (john dickson carr), & rebecca (daphne du maurier) (i already have this one..) — it's volume 2 of something (a treasury of great mysteries) which annoys me but whatever
an anthology including "godmother tea" (selena anderson), "the apartment" (t. c. boyle), "a faithful but melancholy account of several barbarities lately committed" (jason brown), "sibling rivalry" (michael byers), "the nanny" (emma cline), "halloween" (mariah crotty), "something street" (carolyn ferrell), "this is pleasure" (mary gaitskill), "in the event" (meng jin), "the children" (andrea lee), "rubberdust" (sarah thankam mathews), "it's not you" (elizabeth mccracken), "liberté" (scott nandelson), "howl palace" (leigh newman), "the nine-tailed fox explains" (jane pek), "the hands of dirty children" (alejandro puyana), "octopus vii" (anna reeser), "enlightenment" (william pei shih), "kennedy" (kevin wilson), & "the special world" (tiphanie yanique) — i guess they're all short stories published in 2020 by usamerican/canadian authors
an anthology including the death of ivan ilyich (leo tolstoy) (i have already read this one..), the beast in the jungle (henry james), heart of darkness (joseph conrad), seven who were hanged (leonid andreyev), abel sánchez (miguel de unamuno), the pastoral symphony (andré gide), mario and the magician (thomas mann), the old man (william faulkner), the stranger (albert camus), & agostino (alberto moravia)
the ambassadors (henry james)
the world book desk reference set: book of nations — it's from 1983 so this is kind of a history book...
yet another fiction anthology......... including the general's ring (selma lagerlöf), "mowgli's brothers" (rudyard kipling), "the gift of the magi" (o. henry) (i have already read this one..), "lord mountdrago" (w. somerset maugham), "music on the muscatatuck" (jessamyn west), "the pacing goose" (jessamyn west), "the birds" (daphne du maurier), "the man who lived four thousand years" (alexandre dumas), "the pope's mule" (alphonse daudet), "the story of the late mr. elvesham" (h. g. wells), "the blue cross" (g. k. chesterton), portrait of jennie (robert nathan), "la grande bretèche" (honoré de balzac), "love's conundrum" (anthony hope), "the great stone face" (nathaniel hawthorne), "germelshausen" (friedrich gerstäcker), "i am born" (charles dickens), "the legend of sleepy hollow" (washington irving), "the age of miracles" (melville davisson post), "the long rifle" (stewart edward white), "the fall of the house of usher" (edgar allan poe) (i have already read this one..), the voice of bugle ann (mackinlay kantor), the bridge of san luis rey (thornton wilder), "basquerie" (eleanor mercein kelly), "judith" (a. e. coppard), "a mother in mannville" (marjorie kinnan rawlings), "kerfol" (edith wharton), "the last leaf" (o. henry), "the bloodhound" (arthur train), "what the old man does is always right" (hans christian anderson), the sea of grass (conrad richter), "the sire de malétroit's door" (robert louis stevenson), "the necklace" (guy de maupassant) (i have already read this one..), "by the waters of babylon" (stephen vincent benét), a. v. laider (max beerbohm), "the pillar of fire" (percival wilde), "the strange will" (edmond about), "the hand at the window" (emily brontë) (i have already read this one..), & "national velvet" (enid bagnold) — why are seven of these chapters of novels....? anyway fun fact one of the compilers here also worked on the aforementioned mystery anthology. also anyway Why did i bother to write all that ☹️
fundamental problems of marxism (georgi plekhanov) — book about dialectical/historical materialism which is published here as the first volume of something (marxist library) which is kind of odd to me tbh
one last (thankfully tiny) anthology including le père goriot (honoré de balzac) & eugénie grandet (honoré de balzac)

Nothing like waiting til the very last minute to announce guests...
Wow... that is most definitely last minute! So, the final guest list for AHBL is as follows:
Jared Padalecki Jensen Ackles Rob Benedict Richard Speight Matt Cohen Adam Rose Jake Abel Elizabeth Blackmore (Toni Bevell - British Men of Letters) Louden Swain Jason Manns
I suppose it's turned into a decent guest list, I've seen smaller counts at JIB. The fans should be happy though, especially since most are going for J2. Lucky for Australia though that they get Jake Abel. He's an awesome guest and it looks like he may not be doing Creation this year. There rest seem like pretty decent guests (not exactly troublemakers - especially if they add Matt to the R2 panel.)
The surprising one is Elizabeth Blackmore. I don't think I've ever seen her at an SPN con before, nor do I think her character was really that popular. And with her being the lone female... it's almost like she was added for optics. It will be interesting to see if she joins other guests in a panel.

j2m aren't the only guys who attend the cons -- there's mark sheppard, jake abel, tom welling, michael rosenbaum, keegan allen, rob, rich, jason manns, the whole of louden swain etc etc. sooo many
True! Though from the context I would say he was talking about the leads in spn so the three of them. Howrver, mostly straight guys could also imply that all of them are a lil gay so I'm gonna go with that 🤣 And if I gotta sacrifice jpeg's straightness for this, so be it. J*2 fans do it every day

LE PLAN DIVIN POUR CHAQUE FAMILLE
Manne du matin - 17 Novembre -
Le plan divin pour chaque famille... Qui répondra?
"Chaque famille à part." - Zacharie 12:12 VO.
