Serious Events
A series of eventsâŠ
Aeritria and Arakiel meet accidentally inside Samael house.
Aeritria Locklair stopped dead in her tracks when Ara turned around. The blood drained from what little he could see of her face, and her eyes narrowed moving over him to look for weapons, surprises, explosives, all the things he might have on him while in Soren's house. It took her a couple ticks to reconcile the sight of him in Soren's house. Alive. Not dead. Not even thinking of the advantage that came from him not knowing who she was, she finally spoke, "Well bloody damn hell... you look surprisingly healthy for a dead man."
Arakiel agrees to travel with Aeritria east, having decided that Ikara had been gone for too long and he was going to look for his daughter. They discover that they still have some disagreements though.
Arakiel Etemorah smirked. "Wrath?" He chuckled smarmily. "Kinda daft name to call a kid. He pick that out himself?" Still, he didn't seem intent on keeping up his teasing. "And what do they all mean to ya? What would you do if they were in danger?"
Aeritria Locklair rolled her eyes, "Its short, for Rathorin... " When he questioned her on what they meant to her and what she would do there was clearly a reaction. She tried to keep the calm, snarky demeanor, but too many things had already happened where she had given a whole lot for those three. There was the briefest of haunted looks before it was replaced with tense shoulders and a defensive posture. "Enough..." Â Her lips pulled into a thin line, "Is that supposed to be a threat?â
Arakiel Etemorah smiled knowingly and shook his head. "No, but that's answer enough." Sheathing his katana, he stood. "I have a daughter. She should have returned by now, but she hasn't. That's what's in the Burn." His expression turned somewhat grim. "I wanted you to know before you decided to follow me. I'm willing to do -enough- for her.â
Aeritria agrees to accompany Arakiel in his search for Ikara and together, they make for The Burn. Arakiels insistence on drawing out Aeritrias ire though, nearly sets them at odds.
Aeritria Thorne had never been good at reining in her temper, it was why she made such a good marauder. It was also why she had made such a good criminal. There was a sudden shift from her that would hit every one of his senses. The growled words came out with cold fury, "Fuck you Arakiel. I came out to help you, but that was just another dumbass mistake on my part. Everything is fucking fine. Its more godsdamn fine than it has been in over a twelves damned year, but you just can't leave well the fuck enough alone. I don't want to fucking talk about it cause its none of your gods damned business. You don't get to fucking come back from the dead and act like I should just fucking ugh!" Axe or no axe, there was a hint of red glowing in the abysmal darkness of her eyes before she turned around and started storming away. "Fuck you!"
It would be some time after that they managed to work out their difference, but once they had they concluded, wandering the desert in search of one small Au Ra was futile. Aeritria then turned to a dangerous source of power to send out the needed signal flare, her Dark Knight soul stone.
Aeritria Thorne took a few moments to try to catch her breath and shake away the voices that still tried to reach her from the stone. Running her fingers through her hair to push it out of the way she glared over at it for a moment. "I tried to warn you the darn thing isn't... as helpful as I like sometimes. I really did kick Rath's balls all the way into his throat last time I used the damn thing." Aeri rubbed the back of her neck and looked away, "Sorry... I haven't used it in a long while. With my other soul stones... itâs easy. Itâs like they want to help. That one... there is still a bit of a fight going on with who is in charge of who."
After some time arguing with the voices in her mind, Aeritria finally was able to cause a large enough explosion of aether that could be seen from malms around. The fact that it nearly killed herself and Arakiel was of little consequence.
Arakiel Etemorah wasn't a hero. It just wasn't in him. But he wasn't the same man he'd been a few years ago either. The blade in his hands was quickly sheathed and he rushed forward to where Aeritria stumbled. He wasn't about to pick her up and carry her away from danger like some knight in shining armor. But then, she'd have hated that. He grabbed her by the wrist and literally dragged her behind him. "Come the fuck on!" He wasn't going to let her go until they were behind enough rock to guarantee they would be safe from the explosion that was likely coming.
Several bells later, their fishing attempt proved fruitful and they noted the appearance of an approaching figure. Unfortunately, it was not exactly who they had been looking for.
Arakiel Etemorah sheathed his blade, looking at her curiously as his hearing had not completely recovered. "One of them?" He looked to where the creature had been sniped and put two and two together. "The boy..." The unknown Miqo'te still seemed rather protective of Beta and stood between them and him, even if his weapon was put away. Beta's familiar voice shouted across the sands as he approached. "It's okay Aasifa, they are... family of a sort I guess?" The one called Aasifa seemed to relax a bit and plopped down in the sand as Beta and Ara and Aeri approached his location. "Aasifa is still thinking there are better ways to fish." He said quietly, more to himself than anyone else. Arakiel's steps seemed to hasten as he approached.
With so many differing personalities⊠and because Aasifa is Aasifa, some troubles did arise.
Aeritria Thorne saw Arakiel start choking after Aasifa did whatever the hell it was that he did and her attention snapped to the Miqo'te. Her chakrams came out and pinned Aasifa to one of the rock walls by his sleeves, "The Fuck you think you are doing you piece of shit! What the hell did you do to him?!"  She stood between Arakiel and Aasifa, and if looks could kill he would have been dead a thousand times over. She held a finger up to Beta to shut him up before he tried to 'help'.
Eventually though, a peace was brokered, and the quartet left in search of the large sources of aether that Betaâs instruments had detected after the explosion Aeritria had caused.
Arakiel Etemorah might have moved to stop Aeri if she had still wielding her chakrams, but he did not expect the idiot cat to die from a punch. Beta called out in frustration as the punch landed. Aasifa for his part might have dodged the attack, if he'd bothered to try. Instead he took the hit to the throat and grinned at her as though he almost enjoyed all the chaos he'd caused. "Was... good... hit." He croaked out from a damaged voice. "Proud... of... sister." He ripped his sleeves free from the blades and found his feet on the sand once more. He didn't retaliate, simply rubbed at his throat and looked at her expectedly. Beta however was exasperated. "I swear to Alexander! Everyone's crazy!" He huffed and put away the smoke bomb and electric charge he'd been prepping if they hadn't stopped. Aeri's words had registered with him, but he knew better than provoking her further and refused to retort. "Can we get back to looking for Ikara now? Since you and I are the only ones who can speak now, I'll take your word for both of you."
Aeritria Thorne grit her teeth, dug her sharp nails into her palms and drew blood from her own hands to keep from murdering Aasifa right there and then. She reached over, grabbed her Chakrams, held them tight for a moment, still wound up and considering putting them through the rest of Aasifa's neck. It was Beta that managed to draw her out of it with his ridiculous cursing, "For fucks sake... didn't anyone ever teach you to curse properly?" She looked to Arakiel then took another breath. "I came out here to find you and Ikara... if Aasifa so much as touches that damn necklace again I will cut it off his neck, and I'm sure Arakiel will help, so if you want to find your girlfriend before something fucking happens to her you better tell you -friend- to behave or leave. Now, if you have an idea of where to go... letâs go."
Beta took in a deep breath and let out a long exhale. "I was trying to..." He frowned at Aasifa and pointed at the necklace. "No more chaos magic!" Aasifa looked like he might argue but Beta glared, and he stopped. "For all you know that thing might have called a hundred sandworms to raid the burn and it would've put her in more danger! So, no more til she's safe!" Beta looked properly angry and despite his inability to curse properly, seemed to convey the same feelings. He then turned to Arakiel. "And don't act like he's all innocent. Stop acting like you are gonna gut me 'cause I didn't know Ikara was out here! Cause I didn't and now I'm gonna find her! Aasifa could easily have seen you as a threat to his friend." Ara narrowed his eyes at the boy but simply turned his chin some and sneered. Finally, he turned to Aeritria. "He goes for the necklace again... stab him... âCause I said not to. But you stop threatening him if he doesn't, 'kay? I've been wandering the burn for weeks now. I'm ready to be done with this place... so I just wanna find Ikara and then we can all go home." He huffed out another breath and continued. "And thank you for helping Arakiel look for her... I'm sorry this is all a mess, but I was trying to do good. So, let's... just do what you came here to do please." He continued a moment later in quieter tones. "And I don't like everyone elseâs profanity. It's boring."
Elsewhere in the Burn though the target of their search was about to have her own random encounter.
Ikara had been wandering the burn for what felt like an age. Trying to track Beta had turned into a much bigger problem than she had originally anticipated. She had made her way into Garlemald, stealing a uniform and posing as a Garlean soldier. Eventually she found the site where the popularis had their operations that Beta had been a part of. She searched every ilm of the area for any signs of Beta or which way he might have went. She eventually found Beta's tomephone, cracked and busted with charred and melted edges. She picked it up and searched the area even more, moving rubble. Eventually she resorted to carefully questioning a few citizens and was told that the rebels had flown off in the direction of the burn via magitek armor. She breathed a sigh of relief in the hope that Beta was on the airship, as she did hear from someone that no one was taken prisoner. All the rebels were killed or escaped, and she hadn't found his body yet. If he wasn't there, he might still be alive. Clutching the little scrap of a tomephone she went in the direction that the few citizens had pointed her in. She eventually found the wreckage of the armor and searched the entire thing from top to bottom. There was still no sign of Beta, but she found some disturbances in the sand and hoped they were the remnants of footprints. She followed them until they disappeared, eaten by the shifting sands. Then she kept looking. She wasn't sure how long she had been searching, but she knew she was lost, and she didn't care. If she was lost, it meant Beta probably was too, and they would eventually find each other.
A few malms away, Lloire had left the simulacrum of Cartenaeu that his mind had created as a battleground for himself and his reflections. Now he wandered the desert sands of the Burn once more, sorting his thoughts. He had no clue how to go about finding the people he needed to find or what order to find them in. Even as that were, were there enough people he worried for to face all the various aspects of his soul?
Some had been quoted as saying that the universe around them had come about in the beginning due to a massive explosion of aether, the same catalyst woke him from his indecisiveness. He hit the sand as an enormous shockwave of aether flew past him, stealing his feet from him.
"The fuck was that?"
As his senses returned to him, Lloire closed his eyes and focused not on where the explosion had been, but on any source powerful enough to have caused it. There was a massive pool of energy to the east of him that was far bleeding aether into the air. It was more than reasonable to assume that who or whatever it was, they were responsible for the massive explosion he'd felt. His fights would have to wait, leaving anything that powerful this close to Doma's borders would be irresponsible. Gathering his feet under him, he took off at a run towards the source of aether.
Ikara had been wandering in the Burn long enough that she felt like she was going blind. The land being so drained of aether meant she saw the world as everyone else did. She felt sorry for them, all the color was gone from this part of the world. She had found a small outcropping of what she originally thought were rocks but had eventually realized was the skull of a very large beast that had once dwelled there, and hidden away for a bit to get some rest and get out of the sun.
Then the world exploded in color far away. She felt it before she ran out and saw it. Her eyes watered from all the colors and she started searching the horizon for any signs of something that would explain it. Clutching the tomephone she started in the direction of the explosion, hoping that maybe if Beta was out there, he would investigate too.
Lloire travelled swiftly across the sand as he rushed towards the source of aether drawing at his senses. Eventually he climbed over an outcropping of rock and saw a figure in the distance. They didn't seem to have noticed him yet but were moving closer to him. If he held his position, he could wait until they were close enough to engage before revealing himself. He moved back behind one of the jutted-out stones and waited.
As Ikara made her way towards the explosion another source of aether caught her eye in the distance and closing in on her position. The aether was wrong, fractured, broken, and extremely potent.
The tomephone she clutched in her hand was tucked into her pocket and replaced by her staff. She had been conserving her aether the whole time she was out here, to the point where it was overflowing. Her necklace had been filled to the brim, but she had waited and not wasted it in case of running into a Garlean contingent or some beast.
She held her staff to her side, loosely and in a nonthreatening manner, but she was ready for whatever was on the other side of the ridge. When she got close enough, she yelled to whoever was there, "I can see you! Come out before I decide that I'll cast first and ask questions later. This is your only warning!"
Her voice was unmistakable. Lloire came out from behind the rocks with a curious expression worn on his face. "Ikara? What are yo--" He wasn't able to finish his question though as the sounds of the winds and shifting sands in the area were pierced with the sound of shattering glass. Ikara, who had the unique advantage of always seeing aether would see a fragment of Lloire's aether break away from the rest.
As for Lloire himself, he collapsed in a heap in front of her while the image of a younger Lloire remained where he had been standing. The Lloire-image began to solidify before finally seeming as alive, even to her vision, as Lloire had moments ago. "I should've known we'd run into you first and I'd be the first to fight..." He sighed. "You remind him... us... of Aliya sometimes." A staff materialized in his hands and a blackmage soul stone pulsed with aether beneath his robes. "I'm called Kid... And so that your older brother can live, I have to fight you with all my might... and you gotta kill me."
As he spoke, the similarities between who Lloire used to be and who Beta was seemed all the more pronounced. "Show him... us... what you're made of. That you won't be another Aliya, okay?"
Ikara was equal parts confused and relieved when Lloire stepped out from behind the rocks. "Nii---..." She watched his aether shard and split then him collapse to the ground and started running for him, without thought to her own safety. That was until a shard split off and started to solidify. Ikara skid to a halt, her staff still out at her side as a younger version of Lloire appeared before her.
"Halone's frosty tits... what the hells?" She eyed the fragment for a moment before flipping down a visor to see if he was still there without her aether sight. Her frown deepened as she tried to piece together what she saw with the visor down, verses what she was seeing with it up, "Oh.... what have you done to yourself big brother..?" His aether had somehow split off and manifested. The younger version of him was real in a sense, but only in so much as the creations she made from aether. It would disappear with time, but not until the wielder or spell was completed or removed.
Mention of Aliya had her frown deepening, "I'll take that as a compliment. Aliya was your best friend." She shook her head at the aether spirit. "I won't fight you. It could hurt the whole of him. He is completely fractured. Let me fix it instead." She wasn't holding her staff weakly at her side anymore though, it was ready in case the splinter decided to attack.
For his part, Kid-Lloire didn't seem to be in a rush to attack her. "It was a compliment. Look, you haven't seen us for a while. The Lloire you know. Nii-san I think? Anyways, he's prolly more messed up now then when he stabbed himself in the chest. He just fought each and every splinter of himself and killed each one. Well, except me and Erioll...." He shook his head energetically. "But that's off subject. The point is... He's finally realized what's got him so screwed up. He's scared that the people he cares for are gonna die. Usually âcause of him. There's a lot to unpack, but the basic gist is he needs his friends to prove they can handle their own against him when he's not in control. He's scared of his black magic... or his anger issues... or being you know... Hyur. But the truth is he's only really dangerous when he's whole... and then, only to his enemies. But we gotta prove it to him... us... so, you have to kill me. I'd rather you went into this with full knowledge and not making me force the issue." He huffed a breath, having spoken more than Lloire usually would. "So, what do you say?" The younger Lloire lazily lifted his staff and nodded to Ikara. "I mean, if nothing else... you kinda need to blow some aether." A small almost shy smile was half hidden behind his staff.
Ikara listened and it was clear she was starting to nurse a headache from how dumb it all sounded. Then again, she really wasn't too much different than her brother. She had run off plenty of times without people to protect them. She wasn't sure she trusted any of them to take care of themselves. It was why she was in this gods forsaken desert in the first place.
"Let me examine him, to ascertain that you are telling the truth, though I doubt you are lying. I have to be sure it won't kill him. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I killed him without checking first. Let me do that, and sure... I'll kick your ass." She smirked at him, "I mean, Nii-san is tough, and he taught me a lot, but itâs been a while, and the collective you haven't seen what I'm capable of anymore. Just you know.... do me a favor and let me check him first and I'm down. Also... beforehand... Did you cause that other explosion? Cause really, I can't spend a ton of time here if you didn't. I've god a cute moronic Miqo to save."
The younger manifestation lowered the staff and stepped aside to allow Ikara past to check on Lloire's unconscious form. "Too true, but don't forget... Lloire's been out to war just as long as you presumably have. Don't take this too lightly please." True to his word he would stand still and let her examine Lloire. "Also, no. We thought it was you. You've the largest pool of aether out here beyond our own. The other sources of aether out here are weaker... except one particularly bright spot further south..." His head tilted as he considered -who- she was likely speaking about. "Though, large sources of aether wouldn't help you find Beta but large explosions might. Guess that would make sense. We didn't know he was out here though." He shrugged. "Well, like I said, I can't hold back or we'll know... so I'll try and make it as fast as I can... but no promises."
Ikara was wise enough not to completely let her guard down but moved over to examine Lloire's unconscious form. She examined him as well as she could, even checking to see if he would wake with prodding. He didn't, and she obviously was looking at something with concern, 'These threads of aether tying you to him. If I hurt you, I'm hurting him. To be fair, you are only a portion of his aether, but you are an important part of his being. You won't be destroyed right?" She considered what he said about the spot further south and frowned. "If there was an explosion, I doubt that Beta caused it. He wouldn't give his position away like that... especially when there are Garleans after him... so I'm sorry but I won't be holding back either."
She jumped back and her staff spun in the air as aether pulled not from the land, or from her, but from a single crystal in her necklace. The necklace drained in but a few breaths as she unleashed one of the most powerful spells she had on the fragment of Lloire. She didn't have time to play. Those could have been Garleans killing her boyfriend and she loved her brother, but damn if she was going to let her boyfriend die cause her brother was being stupid. The magic flared bright and large with destruction so that it could be seen for several malms.
When the smoke cleared, Kid was standing in a charred crater, his staff held up as though he were blocking with it and the aether of his mana wall shimmered as the spell dissipated from absorbing the attack. Nevertheless, Flare was an impressive spell and she could see some singed edges around his clothing and armor. Another side of Lloire might have spoken here. Warned her or threatened her, but Kid understood her and knew she was only doing what she needed to in order to protect her loved ones. Instead he returned the attack. He vanished and reappeared nearly on top of her. It was completely against everything one was taught as a thaumaturge and would have been insane if he was fighting a sword wielder. With her so close, she could see the lightning flash in his eyes as his aether swelled. The first strike was a blast of lightning aether that dropped down from the sky towards her. The second was a blast of weak fire that seemed almost pointless in its intensity. Finally, he wrapped up the triple casting of spells with a much more potent fire spell as his entire aura seemed to pulse with heat. The spells complete he took a step back from her to examine their effectiveness.
Ikara honestly would have been disappointed if the first spell had done all the work. It would work for piddly little Garlean soldiers, but this was a part of her brother, and she expected more from him. There was a small smile at the fact that he had gotten his manawall up fast enough. Then again, the spell took plenty of time to cast and gave him amply time to prepare.
When he teleported right in front of her, she laughed. "You should have been a redmage, kid. Its more fun, but to be fair less destructive." to illustrate her point she stepped out of the way of the lightning blast and wacked at his nose with her staff, holding it like a rapier. Which, to be fair, wasn't nearly as quick to maneuver, but was much harder to dodge due to the size of her staff and his proximity. Soul stone or no, she had learned how to leap and fly as a red mage and those things were all body, not magic. She couldn't wield those same spells, but a quick backflip and she was out of the way of the weak fire spell, only to land at the point where he struck with the larger fire spell. It singed her hair and clothes before she managed to get up her own manawall and protect herself from the subsequent blasts.
Already she was working to cast again, though there wasn't a huge explosion this time. Instead she targeted his mind, addling his sense to weaken his spells, then attempted to put the shard to sleep.
The back to back spells struck and Kid felt his mind cloud with the enfeeblements along with the ringing in his head from the staff hit. Still, he seemed immune to sleep spells. It did allow fog his thoughts enough that he responded to her banter rather than continue incessant spellcasting. "Wasn't readily taught when I was around... I'm sure Azure can show you what Lloire's learned though." Wiping idly at his nose to ensure there was no bleeding, he only managed to fire of a scathing blast of energy from his staff as he moved away from her and she saw his aether pool into the ground as leylines became visible beneath him.
Far in the distance of the Burn the group of misfits that were wandering and looking for Ikara could see the mushroom cloud from her first flare, and the subsequent explosions of lightning, fire, and magic lighting the horizon. Aeri immediately turned to Aasifa with an accusatory look, "You do that too?" She was guessing whoever was blowing up the horizon was likely pissing off the little lizard though.
True to Aeri's thoughts, Ikara was getting annoyed. She had hoped to put Kid to sleep long enough to check and make sure her brother wasn't actually being hurt by the fight. "What? I have fight all of you? I ain't got time for that shit. You're wasting enough time as is."
She tried to examine Lloire from a distance to make sure he was still okay, and that moment of distraction gave Kid the opening that he needed to hit her with a blast of energy and make her shake her head to get her vision back. Fighting mages was a lot harder as everything was so damn bright.
Aetheric symbols swirled around her as she started to vent her frustration on the shard of her brother, "Will..." A giant glacier was dropped on him, "You..." Another one, "Just..." Another one... "Piss off!" Aether flared around her in crystalline light and she tapped another crystal in her necklace, though this one didn't drain all the way, instead only draining two thirds of the way as she dropped another huge flare of magic on Kid, then tapped the rest of that crystal and cast a second flare. The power off the flurry of spells back to back was enough to send a shockwave out in all directions.
Kid attempted to ward off the spells but was only able to block off the first set. Those crystals she wore were going to be his undoing if he didn't deprive her of them sooner rather than later. Still, his own pools of aether were rather large and he wasn't exhausting them on flares. Still, the second one she'd unleashed in a row was more than his wards could handle and the explosion blackened his staff arm, leaving it near useless. Still, he wasn't one of Lloire's sides that reacted to anger as easily, not even in the significant pain he was in now. "I... told you... Not going to make this... easy on you!"
He stood up with flames flickering out around him on the ground and took the staff into his other hand. "Enough of this..." Runes began to glow around him as he activated Enochian. "The highest tier of fire magicks he knew was unleashed where she stood, the leylines fed him aether faster and another was cast at her to follow it. "This ends now!" One more swift cast and he'd have the power built up he needed to unleash his largest spell. Another fourth-tier fireball exploded where Ikara was standing and even the group further out could feel the swelling of aether at the battleground.
Hundreds of yalms away Aasifa shot a look around him at the others, looking hurt that he'd been accused. "What? Cannot... be Aasifa, he... is needing to say ...word. Aasifa... has been... quiet. That is a war zone, ...yes?" He croaked out before he grinned widely. "Let's go... and see!" Arakiel frowned and growled but started off towards the explosions before anyone else.
Aeri glanced between Arakiel and Beta both before speeding up the pace the group had set. Which, in all honestly didn't take much as the others were in just as much of a hurry. "I get Ikara can blow shit up... but ... thats a lot of firepower." She shook her head and they all moved as quickly as they reasonably could towards the battle. Aeri had her misgivings about it, as she wasn't really feeling like being blown up in this gods forsaken place, but she had given Ara her word, and she wasn't about to go back on it now.
Ikara got some satisfaction from Kid's blackened arm. Even thought she had said she was going to put her all into this fight, she was still doing her best to only tap the aether in her necklace as she didn't know what she would find where Beta was. "Oh for Halone's sake... you think this is easy for me? The hardest part of this is not turning the hell around and leaving you to sulk in the fact that I won't fight you. You have the WORST timing ever... I've got places to be! I'm supposed to be saving my boyfriend, not my brother. For fucks sake... worst older brother..."
Fire exploded all around her, but before he could get off all his spells she was moving. This time it was her turn to teleport to him. One moment she was where his spells were aimed, and the next she was standing on top of him and wrapping her arms around him in a bear hug, then smashing her forehead into his nose to interrupt his casting. The first fire spell missed her, the second engulfed both of them, and she aimed her knee for his family jewels when he tried to cast the last spell, aiming to knock him to the ground and just punch him in the face. The whole time she was aiming physical spells at him she was building up her own aether to counter with her own spells.
Kid didn't have a chance to respond right away, her brow had found his nose and it gave a loud crack and blood spewed from the quickly bruising part of his face. "Little brother right now!" He shouted back at her. "You're older than I was!" His aether appeared to stop wavering at all and grew very sure and still as he began reciting the last spell, his eyes locking on her with intense focus. "This ends sis!" The spell was likely one she'd not seen him cast before. It was one that Lloire had learned only recently on the frontlines. His most powerful spell was building over both their heads and it was clear that he meant to put his everything into it, even if it meant a draw and a draw meant they both lost.
Ikara was splattered with warm blood that spewed from Kid's nose, and his words hit a chord with her. It was one of those things she always forgot. She wasn't a kid anymore. She was an adult now. She mostly never felt like one, but she was. She had been through more than most kids ever went through and come across the other side. She had lived to see adulthood. The train of thought was disrupted by the pure aether building as Kid started a spell that she didn't know. She knew if he got the spell off that would be devastating for her, and for Lloire. She had to win, or Lloire would stay broken.
She wiped the blood from her face, and her vision focused on it for a moment making her realize that while it felt real, it still wasn't real. It was all aether, and one thing she was good at was controlling aether. "You're right! I am older than you. I'm an adult, and I don't need Lloire to take care of me. We take care of each other because that is what family does, but I made it this far... and I'll be fine!"
The last five crystals in her necklace started to drain as she pulled the specific types of aether from them. Earth, Air, Fire, Ice, and Lightning... the catalysts that made everything in the world. "I won't destroy you. You're a part of my brother... but I don't have to destroy you to beat you!" She started disrupting the flow of aether in Kid, pulling the elements apart, as she had done so many times with her 'paintings'. Normally she had more time, but right his moment she didn't. She poured all the aether from her necklace into rearranging the aether in this fragment of her big brother. She worked desperately fast, trying to reform him into something else. At the last moment she poured her own aether into building the strongest manawall she could and prayed to Halone to make this work. "I can take care of myself, and you're an egotistical jerk for thinking I can't manage without you!"
The last words were spoken as his spell went off, and the aether that he was created from shifted into the form she thought of when she thought of their lessons when she was still learning how to cast the simplest spells.
Kid seemed to know that he'd lost in that moment. Despite the spell above them and his own aether breaking down, he smiled. "Good. Remember that... And learn the lesson it took us this long to start to learn..."
Ikara grit her teeth and forced the last strands of aether into place where she wanted them, just as the spell overhead exploded. It could be seen for malms and malms around.

L'ania Hena winced and clamored up to her feet, "tisssss.... owww... " Â She managed to get up and face the Roe and her rescuers. "Aasifa!" She looked relieved to see him at least. She spotted the new person, he had somehow made a friend. Of course he had.. it was Aasifa. Aasifa Taqalid drew his sword in a fluid motion and dropped into a well practiced stance. For all his strange behavior, none of it showed and he seemed completely disciplined. "You are gettign one chance to apologize to miss L'ania and run away to Liimsa or somethiing... or my good friend here and I will have to cuut you down. Most unpleasant, yes?" The Roe sneered at the two who had come to the rescue. "Mind your own business! Get lost!" With a motion of his hand the mix of hyur and miqo'te thugs moved forward menacingly. They weren't attacking yet, but instead were trying to intimidate the two that were interfering. Hana Komainu rose a brow as the men pushed forward. Â She'd faced many and more, monsters far larger than they, and she would not be intimidated so easily. Â Hana slipped to L'anias side with whispered footsteps, and then crept an ilm in front of her as if to shield her. Â "I advise you leave. Now."

A New Year
He found the note leaning against the vase at the center of the dining room table. Opening it, his eyes ran over the letters quietly. Casting his gaze upwards to the round timepiece that hung above the cabinet he nodded to himself. There would be time to see her before she left. Afterwards, he would be bound for Ala Mhigo once more. âClaudettea.â âYes sir?â The woman appeared from the stairs. More than likely after trying to make sense of the mess his work table had become. âIâm heading out for a few days. I want to look into the situation in Ala Mhigo so I wonât be back for a few days.â A soft smile was turned his way. âVery god sir. Be safe, please.â The man gave a short nod in answer. âAs always.â With that, he picked up his pack and made for the door. Best to see Velestine off and let Soren and Ikara know he would be gone for a while after all.
âSo, what exactly brought ya out to the Burn anyway  mister⊠Ah-see-fa?â The Seeker, though a strange one to be sure, was consulting his coin again for their direction. Beta might have been more opposed but so far the man had found them food, shelter from a dust storm, and relatively safe travels so far with his method. Who was Beta to argue with results? âHmm? Oh! Yes, Aasifa was following the wind. It is leading him to the sands and many worms. There is much of desert life that Aasifa misses. Worms, they are not so much a missed thing.â The coin was flipped a second time and this seemed to be the deciding toss on their direction. âWe will travel for two more bells.â The man pointed off towards a southwestern direction. âThis way the winds of chance are saying, yes? Aasifa is feeling home is coming closer for small friend Beta.â The younger Miqoâte pulled his goggles back over his eyes and nodded. âAlright, lead on.â **Editorâs Note: This is a post from Wednesday, January 9, 2019 that was not originally posted here due to concerns with Tumblrâs adult content policies.**

Random Encounter
<Bleep!> <Warning! Warning! Critical failure imminent><Bleep!>
âSprockets! Come on girl, just a bit more. If we make it to Doma weâll be fine. Come on, just a bit longer!â
<Bleep!><Engine overheating detected><Ceruleum ejection recommended!>
âCome on! If I do tha-â
<Boooooooom!>
 âSon of a bracket!â
<Core overload imminent, please eject ceruleum>
âFriction!â
<Boop!><Ceruleum ejection confirmed. Initiating!><Bleep boop!>
âOkay, okay, come on girl, guide me down safely. Come onâŠ. Youâve got this.â Reaching up, the small Miqoâte touched the panel that was connected to the tombstone heâd left Ikara.
âMayday, mayday. Red Rose is damaged. Initiating an emergency landing in The Bââ
 <Crash!>
The next short while was a blur of sight and sound, then darkness. When he came to again, it was to the sound of voices. âOver here! The smoke is coming from here, just past this dune!â
Rubbing his eyes with one hand, Beta clicked the release for his harness with the other before tumbling out of the wreckage of Red Rose.
âUmph!â
The voices were growing closer. âJust over here! We need to stop this one. He let the others escape! If you want to keep your heads, best capture the dissident!â
His vision went out and then back in. Men, a dozen or so, all in Garlean regular uniforms were headed for him.
âThere he is. Heâs unarmed. Capture him!â
Hands frantically dug in the sand nearby for a weapon, his gun, a piece of broken magitek, anything, but there was nothing. Instead he found himself surrounded by Imperials. Their leader had his gunblade only a sliver of air away from Betaâs head.
âDonât move.â
The young Miqoâte listened, though his eyes drew up to see the face of his captor. A strong jaw, snowy hair styled in a bowl cut usually kept by Domans, his armor that of a Laquearius. He wasnât wearing the helm so many of them favored.
It wouldnât have helped.
Beta watched without truly registering what happened. There was a gust of air. The sound of something cutting through it. Then, before anything else was seen, the Laqueariusâ head slipped free of its shoulders and rolled down to the white sands, staring blankly up at Beta.
âYou are knowing⊠these lands are not yoursâŠ. Yes Imperials?â
The younger Miqoâte could see the speaker as the Laqueariusâ body dropped to its knees and then crumpled over. The man wore gray clothing that blended in with the sands, a crimson coated scimitar was tightly gripped in his right hand.
âYou are seeing⊠Aasifa is not liking the odds you are giving small catte. So he is evening these odds, yes?â The others barely had time to register what happened as the other Miqoâte spoke. Then the next one lost his head. Then another. The man slaughtered the Garleans with an almost surgical precision, moving through them as though it were a dance. When the last of them fell to the ground dead he sheathed the curved blade and held out his hand for Beta.
âDo not worry. Aasifa is here to help.â
Beta took the offered hand and was pulled to his feet.
âThank you.â
The other Miqoâte, strange as he was, simply shook his head. âNo thanks is needed. The winds told Aasifa to save the child of peace. Since they were men of war, the choice was obvious, yes?â
Beta blinked at the man and slowly nodded. âSure.â
âGood.â
The Miqoâte grinned.
âThen⊠maybe you can help Aasifa find a way home, yes? The worms seem happy to keep him here.â

Honest Q&A: Round 6! Table
Hello all! Itâs been a while since we were all together. Iâm glad everyone was able to join our roundtable today. Hmm⊠looking over the questions submitted they seem to be⊠ahh, yes, these were all omitted from the previous questionnaires due to their⊠darker theme. Well, it seems my editor is looking to expand our readership. Very well, if anyone feels uncomfortable answering these VERY hypotheticals⊠feel free to pass.
First, a question for myself. Where have you all been? Itâs been really hard to track you all down for another sit down lately.
Lloire: âIâve been⊠Home. Researching. I might have doubled my workload recently so⊠Iâve been busy.â
Kârisa: âI had to go back home for a bit. Mother got herself into some trouble and I needed to give her a hand.â
Beta: âWork, work, work. Poor Ikara probably thinks Iâm a myth. Mythical boyfriend. Only appears on blue moons. My uh⊠well, Lucilius told me about some things going on back⊠home. Iâm trying to help out some and Iâve been pouring myself into my work. Iâm bad at taking breaks.â
Chadrick: âYe anâ Scars oâer there are soundinâ more anâ more alike lad. As fer me? Ahâve been spending quality time with Aislyn. Our last job set us up fer a good while so⊠weâre on leave fer a bit.â
Aasifa: âAasifa found himself in the Burn, yes? Difficult place to be. Many things try to kill Aasifa, but he is difficult man to kill.â
Benedict: âWork seems to have dried up, so I have been spending my time working odd jobs and helping with restoration efforts at some of the holy sites.â
Chance: âEast.â
Felix: âYou find me when I want you to find me. You donât need to know more than that.â
Alright, on to our⊠readersâ questions. <cough> Uh-hmm⊠letâs get this over with, shall we?
âIf you had to kill one person you cared about to save the rest of the world, who would you pick?â
Lloire: âHmm, I know everyone expects me to say myselfâŠâ
Felix: âLo, Lloire, I'm sure weâre all eager to hear your answer, I'm going to let you finish, but Iâve been waiting for these kinds of questions a long time! A long, long time! Me⊠Iâd kill anyone to save the world. It doesnât really matter who. After a while you learn that sacrifice is sometimes necessary.â
Lloire: âRight⊠As I was saying⊠I know everyone expects me to say myself⊠but that sounds like a cheap answer. Everyone would say that, except apparently Felix.. To answer the more difficult question⊠who besides myself would I kill? Iâd have to say Soren. Iâd like to imagine heâd do the same in that situation. Weâve been through enough together to know itâs what the other would want I think.â
Kârisa: âIâm, vaguely concerned that you both answered that so easily. I donât think I could do it. Killing someone awful to save the world is one thing. I donât know that I want to save a world where Iâm forced to kill a loved one.â
Beta: âThis is a bit-crank question. Who thinks up this kinda garbage? I guess if I had to pick itâd be Lucilius. Heâs older than anyone else I care about⊠But Iâm kinda with Kârisa.â
Chadrick: âThaâs nay tha way âeroes work. Ah would nay stop another from sacrificinâ themselâes, but Ahâm nay about tâ kill an innocent. Meself, sure. Nay another.â
Aasifa: âAasifa is thinking⊠His former master, yes? Aasifa is having cares for this person.â
Benedict: âMaster Taqalid⊠I would very much like to hear your full story someday. I fear I too would be unable to kill another to save the world. I am not so arrogant as to assume myself above the gods. If it is their will, the world would be saved without so gruesome an act.â
Chance: âYea, sure, everyone dies or one person dies. Makes sense. Iâm not hero enough to go offing myself, so itâs probably going to be the least liked member of my crew. Sorry, whoever that is. You shouldâve been more likeable I guess.â
"What is the worst thing you can imagine someone doing?"
Felix: âOoh, we get to be creative now? Awesome! Letâs see⊠Oh! I know. Flaying someone alive while hooking them up to machines to ensure they donât die then leaving just enough flesh that you can heal it and start all over again. And again. And again.â
Lloire: âYou⊠sound entirely too gleeful at that thought. Iâll keep it simple. Betrayal. â
Kârisa: âLying. I hate liars. Breaking someoneâs trust is the worst!â
Beta: âBad people are just that, bad. The worst thing someone can do is be a good person and stand by while bad things happen.â
Chadrick: âGood point lad. Aye, tha indifference oâ good men is probably tha worst sin.â
Aasifa: âMaking someone your slave. You do this, Aasifa will kill you.â
Benedict: âTurning away from the Gods. It is one thing to be ignorant of them, and another entirely to believe and abandon them when life changes.â
Chance: âDesertion. Plain and simple. You donât wanna fight, donât sign up. You run, you get others killed.â
"Do you think death is the worst fate there is?"
Felix: âHahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah. No. Losing your mind is. Insanity, amnesia, anything of that sort is far worse. Better to die as the person you are than to live as someone else.â
Lloire: âIâm of a similar mind, though more to the mindset of freewill. The worst fate is giving up who you are and knowing youâve done so. To be a puppet for another.â
Kârisa: âWatching those you love die is worse than dying yourself.â
Beta: âI donât know guys, dying means things canât be fixed. Like, someone might be able to restore your mind, your puppeteer might get killed and you go free, you will meet new loved ones. Dying is the only one that means you donât get another shot.â
Chadrick: âAye lad, but thereâs somethinâ comfortinâ in knowinâ itâs nay your problem anymore. Ah think those whoâve lived through enough know thaâ sometimes eâen tha memories of whaâ âappened are worse than dyinâ. Ah think beinâ forced tâ relive yer worst failures would be far worse than a simple anâ clean death.â
Aasifa: âBeing slave is worse than death. What is life if you do not control your own destiny? Even if you leave this to chance, it is your choice, not the choice of another.â
Benedict: âThere is far worse than death. Death is simply a new beginning that brings us closer to the Gods.â
Chance: âThereâs not much worse than death. A lotta shit you can move past. Me personally though⊠Iâd rather die than be feeble and weak. Iâd rather die the man I am then be left a crippled shell of who I was.â
âWould you rather know the date of your death or the cause of your death?â
Felix: âThe cause, without question. It can more easily be circumvented that way.â
Lloire: âHmm, the date. Youâd have time to set your affairs in order. There is no hiding from death forever so⊠better to be prepared when it does come.â
Kârisa: âNeither! Iâd be panicked the whole time if I knew the date. Like a time bomb ticking. If I knew how, everything remotely close to like it would scare me.â
Beta: âI guess the date? Would be kinda nice to know how long I make it and know how many projects I could finish.â
Chadrick: âWell shyte, Death-catte anâ Scars oâer there both make good points. Neither one seems better than tha other. I guess date so Ah could make sure Aislyn was cared fer when Ah was gone but nay before.â
Aasifa: âAasifa is knowing these things already. This question does not apply to Aasifa.â
Benedict: âIâm more concerned with how I live than how I die.â
Chance: âCause. If Iâm fated to die in some auroch shit way like getting sick or in my sleep, fuck that. Iâll go out before hand in a fight on my own terms.â
âIf you were trapped on an island, would you rather resort to cannibalism or die of starvation?â
Felix: âCannibalism. No offense, but meat is meat at the end of the day.â
Lloire: âIâll⊠do what I must to survive.â
Kârisa: âNope. No. Nu-uh. Not happening. I am not eating people!â
Beta: âI barely like meat as it is. I donât think I could do it.â
Chadrick: âAhâm nay killinâ anyone else tâ eat them, but if they were already dead⊠Ahâm not goinâ tâ die so tha flies can get fat instead.â
Aasifa: âNo, this thing is not done. The body once housed the soul and must be treated with respect or the soul will not move on. Aasifa is not being responsible for revenants.â
Benedict: âI suppose I will die.â
Chance: âHate to say it, but Iâm with Lloire. Wonât like it, but survival.â
âWould you rather have an arm hacked off or a leg?â
Felix: âA leg. Much easier to make a new one if you have both hands to work with.â
Lloire: âAre you an Ascian? Iâm asking for a friend. Anyways⊠I say arm. The Flame General seems to get along fine after all.â
Kârisa: âMy leg if I have to choose. I mean, I can sit and sew.â
Beta: âIâm going to go with the majority so far. We had someone in the Blades who had a magitek leg. Pretty sure I could make something similar⊠but Iâd need my hands to do it.â
Chadrick: âAhâm with Lloire. Ah can wield me sword with one âand. Much âarder to run or dodge with one leg.â
Aasifa: âAasifa is getting choice? He would flip coin to see which.â
Benedict: âAn arm is not needed to kneel in prayer.â
Chance: âYou can tell who the ones at the table are who fight the most. Iâll go with arm too.â
âIf you murdered someone, how would you get rid of the body?â
Felix: âThatâs pretty easy. Fire. Donât leave behind evidence.â
Lloire: âI⊠agreed. For once.â
Kârisa: âI guess that works for people who have unlimited access to fire on the spot. Iâd probably make it look like Amaljâaa did it.â
Beta: âI want to be made everyone has an easy time thinking about this⊠but I already decided acid so I donât have any room to talk.â
Chadrick: âAhâve got contacts. Theyâd be much better about it than Ah would be.â
Aasifa: âGet rid of body? Why are we doing this? If you get rid of body, how will the others know not to test you? It is better to display what is done and allow them to see to their dead.â
Benedict: âI⊠I have no answer for this.â
Chance: âProbably by dropping it off with whoever paid for the job.â
âWould you rather hear the voices of dead people or see their ghosts?â
Felix: âHear, definitely. The dead might have useful things to say. I donât really care what they look like though.â
Lloire: âBoth options are readily available so the question is rather moot.â
Kârisa: âCreepy. Um, I guess see. There are people Iâd want to see one more time.â
Beta: âLetâs go with neither. Yea, neither. The dead should just yanno, stay dead. â
Chadrick: âOâ, Ahâm with Death-catte it seems. Ahâd âave a much easier time findinâ things if Ah could ask tha previous occupants where they left stuff.â
Aasifa: âThis is not Aasifaâs place. There are those who are blessed to listen to the dead. Aasifa is not worthy of this honor.â
Benedict: âIâd like to hear them. I might be able to help them find a way to move on.â
Chance: âThe fuck do I care about ghosts? If I gotta pick, see. That way I can kill them if theyâre fucked up.â
âIf someone you loved committed a gruesome murder, would you help them cover it up?â
Felix: âOnly fair.â
Lloire: âIt would depend on the circumstances.â
Kârisa: âUh, no.â
Beta: âI donât know. Thatâs a pretty big ask. Iâd hope nobody I loved would do that or involve me really.â
Chadrick: âAye, dependinâ on their reasons. Fer shytes anâ giggles, nay. But some people need killinâ anâ tha law doesnay always see it tha same.â
Aasifa: âAasifa is still not understanding this cover up or hiding bodies thing. If you do the thing, be proud of your actions. Stand by them, yes?â
Benedict: âI⊠am having trouble with that notion Master Taqalid. I donât believe anyone should take pride in murder. Iâm afraid I would not be able to help them hide their crime.â
Chance: âYea, most likely.â
âWould you rather be kidnapped for six months and survive or die without any psychological damage?â
Felix: âPsh, psychological damage? For my kidnappers you mean?â
Lloire: âIâve lived through it before. Iâd choose survival once again.â
Kârisa: âIâm not sure Iâm made of the same stuff as you guys. I hate the sound of being kidnapped that long, but, Iâd still rather live.â
Beta: âI guess it depends on by who. Being a P.O.W. is bad but not as bad as some sadistic psychopath in some underground ruins.â
Chadrick: âItâs worse fer a lass than a lad most times. Iâd choose life more likely than nay.â
Aasifa: âAasifa is probably killed in escape attempt. So it is death either way.â
Benedict: âEvery man can be broken. Yes, even you two. Iâd rather die than be broken in such a way.â
Chance: âLive. Then I can go back, find who captured me, and make them pay.â
âYou can only save one... your worst enemyâs infant child, or your best friend's true love. Who do you pick?â
Felix: âHmm, my worst enemies infant child. Then I would raise them to oppose my enemy.â
Lloire: âMost likely my best friendâs true love. Simply because in doing so I would be save more lives, my best friendâs included most likely.â
Kârisa: âUgh! This is horrible. The child of course. Theyâre innocent!â
Beta: âYea, Iâm going to have to go with the kid too.â
Chadrick: âAhâm with Scars. Tha true love. Ye diânay know how much wickedness is in tha blood and while eâeryone is born innocent, nobody stays thaâ way. Love on tha other âand⊠Thaâs nothing to scoff at if itâs true. Ye need tâ protect it.â
Aasifa: âAasifaâs worst enemies are either not allowed to have children or their children would be too well guarded to ever need Aasifaâs saving, so he is picking the other option, yes?â
Benedict: âWhat the child may become is up to them, the sins of the parents are not the sins of the child. I agree with miss Mau.â
Chance: âThe child. If my best friend cannot protect their loved one and they canât protect themselves, that isnât my fault. The child has no one except the fool who became my enemy.â
âWould you rather marry your most recent ex or spend five years in jail?â
Felix: âI married my most recent exâs. Iâve got no problem doing it again.â
Lloire: âIâll take jail. Been there, done that. Iâve screwed up a marriage before. Iâd rather not do that again.â
Kârisa: âIâm going to go with jail too. Some men arenât the marrying type.â
Beta: âMister Chadrick? If looks could kill you might be dead. I think itâs safe for me to say marrying my ex. Kinda a non-issue for me.â
Chadrick: âCome on lass. Ahâd do fine in a bondinâ, it just diânay work between us. Ahâd still say bondinâ though. Jailâs a pain anâ eâen if ye are exes fer a reason⊠bondinâs can be annulled pretty easily.â
Aasifa: âAasifa would be widower then. Still, it is better than losing freedom.â
Benedict: âI fear I cannot answer this as I do not have an ex per say.â
Chance: âYea, Iâd marry her to get outta the jail time, annul it, and get on with my life. Heroboy has the right idea for once.â
Thank you all for taking the time to answer these⊠ahem⊠questions. I appreciate your candor and Iâm sure our readers do as well.  One last question of my own before we break. Whatâs next for you?
Felix: âIâm setting up a new⊠workshop in the Mists.â
Lloire: âIâve a problem of my own making I need to deal with. Once thatâs handled⊠I need to get back out into the world.
Kârisa: âIâm not really sure. Been thinking about going back home. Iâll be sure to say good-bye and let you know if I do.â
Beta: âIâm going to keep working with Lucilius but yea, I should prolyl take a bit more time away from work too.â
Chadrick: âBack tâ work Ah imagine. Ahâve been hearing some strange things about Dalmasca. Might go anâ take a look.â
Aasifa: âAasifa will follow the wind. See where it is taking him, yes?â
Benedict: âI will be looking for work for Sunny and I. Whatâs that Master Ashton? Oh, certainly.â

Honest Q&A: Round 5! Table
Glad to see you all here. Letâs jump right in then. Itâs been a while and our readerâs will surely be itching to learn more about Eorzeaâs adventurous types.
If you were ruler of your own country what would be the first law you would introduce?
Lloire: âTch. I would introduce a law that changed our system of government to one more akin to Ishgardâs House of Commons system so that whatever fools put me in charge stood a better chance.â
Kârisa: âUm, doesnât the fact that you wanna do that make you a good choice for a ruler? Anyways, I would introduce laws that were in place to severely punish anyone found tempered or assisting with tempering.â
Beta: âNo, no, miss Mau. Heâs right. A leaderâs gotta be willing to be willing to NOT be sacrificial. The General has to know when âthey- have to withdraw from the field, and Lloire just wouldnât ever be able to do that. For me though, Iâd put strict regulations on Magitek use to coincide with the increased production.â
Chadrick: âThe feck? Tha three oâ ye can actually think oâ this shyte? Nay lads, Ahâm nay rulinâ anyone. Ah suppose me first anâ only law would be tâ abolish tha government so each man was free.â
Aasifa: âAasifa is banning slaves or people who are being worked ;like slaves for little gil.â
Benedict: âI consider myself a man of the gods. It would be improper for me to rule over others. My beliefs would unfairly cloud my judgment.â
Chance: âA merc country? Heh, a king who fights his own battles. Would be a sight, yea?â
Felix: âOnly fools rule. A ruler is always a puppet. A puppet to those with coin, to the popular opinion, to blackmail, or any number of other things. Why rule when you can manipulate from the shadows? Iâd never get suckered into being any countryâs ruler.â
What's the longest you've gone without sleep (and why)?
Lloire: âA week. âŠPeople I cared about were trapped within the void. I spent a week fighting to free them and only finally slept when Soren drugged me.â
Kârisa: âA week? How are you not dead? No. I donât wanna know. Longest I went was still less than a day. What? Girl needs her rest!â
Beta: âUm, well⊠crankshafts⊠I think it was three days? I was building something important.â
Chadrick: âTâwas bout twenty-four âours. Was travelinâ through some rough territory. Could nay afford tâ sleep, so, we pushed through.â
Aasifa: âAasifa is sleeping every day. It is only way to stay strong, yes?â
Benedict: âI am in agreement with Master Taqalid. Proper rest is important for the body and mind.â
Chance: âThree days. Dravonians had us pinned down.â
Felix: âI didnât count, but I recall it was several weeks. I had an experiment that required my undivided attention and well, with the right potions you can forgo sleep. Albeit at a slight degradation of your capacities.â
Aside from necessities, what one thing could you not go a day without?
Lloire: âA book to read.â
Kârisa: âMy blankets! What, itâs all your fault. Talking about not sleeping made me sleepy!â
Beta: âCoffee!â
Chadrick: âSeeinâ a beautiful lass smile. Nary a soul should eâer do without.â
Aasifa: âAasifa has been without, yes? So, there is nothing he is needing so much he cannot be without.â
Benedict: âPrayer. I only bring it up as a non-necessity because so many others live without it. I could not.â
Chance: âA knife. You should always have a knife.â
Felix: âI think I will agree with dark and broody over there. Constantly learn. You should read every day.â
Which of the five senses would you say is your strongest?
Lloire: âSmell, strange as might seem. I guess I honed it over the years learning to cook. Taste is important and all, but you smell the food well before you ever taste it⊠and the smell lingers long after the food is gone.â
Kârisa: âI unno, hearing I guess?â
Beta: âSight for sure. Picking things apart and remembering exactly what I saw and where a screw or bolt was⊠Yea, definitely sight.â
Chadrick: âOâ now, this is an easy one. Touch. Easy. âands down.â
Aasifa: âFriend Chadrick, Aasifa worries you are meaning hands down skirts with way you are saying this. For Aasifa, it is hearing like friend Kârisa. He is training whole childhood to be hearing intruders.â
Benedict: âI would have to say taste. Mine is overly strong, so I prefer more âblandâ flavors.â
Chance: âSmell for me too. Different uses though.â
Felix: âMy sixth. Next question.â
Which of the five senses would you give up if you had to lose one?
Lloire: âGiven previous⊠injuries, sight. Iâve already started training to be without it. Iâd miss it for sure, but I would miss the others more.â
Kârisa: âReally? Youâd go blind before not being able to cook? Youâre a strange one. For me, itâd be smell.â
Beta: âIâm kinda with miss Kârisa Lloire. Itâs crazy to go blind instead of not being able to smell. Youâd get yourself ki--âŠ. Oh⊠Nevermind, it all makes sense.â
Chadrick: âWell, Ah mean⊠Ahâd lose me sight before me sense oâ touch⊠but alas, Ah must agree with tha others⊠Smell can go first.â
Aasifa: âHmm, Aasifa is thinking touch. If he is not feeling, there is no pain, he is greater fighter, yes?â
Benedict: âIâm not certain that would be wise Master Taqalid. Pain is a warning so we know how far to push ourselves. I am with the others. Perhaps a lost sense of smell might even out my sense of taste.â
Chance: âSound I guess. Wouldnât have to hear as much whining from people at least.â
Felix: âAn interesting question⊠though I have to agree with the majority. Smell is the least useful sense in the lives we live.â
How would your friends describe you?
Lloire: âDepends on the friend I imagine. Sorenâd tell you Iâm a stubborn ass who always thinks heâs right. Sibenâd tell you I try to hard and am quick to temper. Most everyone would likely agree that Iâm injury prone I suppose.â
Kârisa: âUm, I guess theyâd say I was a hard worker.â
Beta: âInjury prone? Thatâs how you describe it? Itâs not like you slipped and fell on a knife yanno. Um, mostâa my friends would probably say Iâm a workaholic and Iâm bad at multitasking and should eat more.â
Chadrick: âWell, shyte. Ahâm nay sure. A fewâd probably say Ah was a cocky bloke.â
Aasifa: âFriends have said before, describing Aasifa is difficult thing. But most are saying he like like the wind.â
Benedict: âI would hope theyâd describe me as warm and caring. Protective.â
Chance: âAnd big Benny. As for me, ainât too many I call friend and fewer still Iâd give a fuck what they said.â
Felix: âAs the guy you call when shits gone to hell and you need a way out.â
What did you want to be when you were small?
Lloire: âAn archmage. Someone like Louisoix or Shatotto.â
Kârisa: âI wanted what every girl in our tribe wanted. To be a huntress.â
Beta: âYou just⊠I swear, you donât own a mirror do you? Ugh. I wanted to be the worldâs best engineer. Well, okay, want to beâŠâ
Chadrick: âAh was goinâ tâ say lad⊠ye are still a wee one. As fer me, Ahâve always dreamed oâ beinâ a âero. Eâer since Ah too was a wee lad.â
Aasifa: âFree, yes?â
Benedict: âWhen I was young, I simply wished to please the family that took me in.â
Chance: âA merc. It was all Iâd known.â
Felix: âAlchemy has been an interest of mine since I first heard of it.â
What's the craziest thing youâve done in the name of love?
Lloire: âPretty sure I have to say âStab myself in the chestâ or Beta will call me out on it.â
Kârisa: âYea, he will. How did youâIâd rather not know. I uh, left my tribe and everyone I knew.â
Beta: âYea, next time you go falling for a girl, maybe just roses and chocolates, âkay? For me, it was raid a castrum and take over all their reapers.â
Chadrick: âAh diânay know thaâ Ahâd call it fer love⊠but tha craziest thing Ah did fer romance was date whaâ amounted tâ a princess. Diânay hiss Kârisa⊠she neâer did a thing tâ ye.ââ
Aasifa: âAasifa is not understanding question. Everything done for love is crazy, yes? Otherwise⊠is not love?â
Benedict: âI fear I am going to have to abstain from answering. I have not been in love and as such have not done anything foolish.â
Chance: âTried to play at hero.â
Felix: âHmm⊠pretty much everything I did from the age nineteen to twenty-three.â
Do you collect anything? If so, what?
Lloire: âBooks.â
Kârisa: âI donât think it counts that I collect fabrics, considering thatâs my job.â
Beta: âMostly Garlean scrap. Wha? Itâs not âtechnicallyâ my job. Also, Lloire, Iâm pretty sure you collect scars.â
Chadrick: âAhâve a giant collection oâ tha things Ah kept from each oâ me missions. Aislyn anâ Ah make it a point tâ keep one thing from each job.â
Aasifa: âAasifa is not one for âthingsâ, yes? You cannot take with you. No matter what some people might think.â
Benedict: âYes, I have a collection of different totems, rosaries, wards, from various beliefs. I enjoy learning about other peopleâs beliefs.â
Chance: ââŠno. The fuck am I gonna do with all that extra weight?â
Felix: âLike Scars, I have a collection of tomes as well as a collection of rare metals and gems.â
 Who was your first crush?
Lloire: âA woman named Stanzie. â
Kârisa: âA pretty boy hero who doesnât know how to sit still.â
Beta: âUm, I guess Ikara? I mean, I didnât really get the whole dating thing before I met her.â
Chadrick: âThere was this lass named Cathleen when Ah was growinâ up. Me da dealt with âers kind oâ regularly. Otherwise, Ahâd âave tâ say Sinomen.â
Aasifa: âBliss. Let us speak on something new, yes?â
Benedict: âAgain, I will need to bow⊠what is that mister Tamisier? Oh, well.. I suppose⊠very well. There was a young Elezen girl when I was much much younger⊠but that was highly inappropriate. Her name? Oh⊠Itâs been so many years. Killie⊠Kyliean⊠I fear I do not recall anymore.â
Chance: âRight⊠sure you donât Benny. There was a fellow merc when I was starting out. Becca. Thatâs all ya need to know.â
Felix: âI suppose my betrothed when I was young would have been my first crush. Her name was Alison.â
Do you or your family have a âmottoâ â spoken or unspoken?
Lloire: âNo. Not really. Maybe if I start one someday Iâll come up with one.â
Kârisa: âOh, like Iâd forget what I hear time and time again. âOne struggle, one people, one destiny.ââ
Beta: âNoooope.â
Chadrick: âAhâll go with me maâs. âFortune favours tha bold.ââ
Aasifa: âIf Aasifa is having one⊠he is not knowing it, yes?â
Benedict: âAs with miss Mau, I could not forget it if I tried. âHonour is the reward of virtue.ââ
Chance: âNo.â
Felix: âHahaha. Yea, no.â
What do you do to keep fit?
Lloire: âEvery morning is a fairly standard routine. Pushups, crunches, squats, a run⊠plus all the training and fighting.â
Kârisa: âKeep fit? Do you all have to try to stay fit?â
Beta: âI guess all my time at the forge keeps me pretty fit. I mean, hammering stuff all day and working on magitek⊠it can be hard work.â
Chadrick: âBlitzballâs a pretty full body workout ye know. Outside oâ thaâ⊠Ah find Ah diânay need much else, aye?â
Aasifa: âAasifa and Lloire are similar here. Aasifa wakes and does morning exercises. It is ingrained in him since time first remembered.â
Benedict: âI am not so sure I am as fit as say Master Peace or Master Taqalid.â
Chance: âWork. Donât need anything else.â
Felix: âAya started me on a training regimen some many many years ago. Iâve stuck with it since.â
If you could live somewhere else from where you live now, where would it be?
Lloire: âYanxia. Itâs beautiful there.â
Kârisa: âIâve heard there is a land to the south that sounds amazing.â
Beta: âIdyllshire for sure. I wish I could now!â
Chadrick: âEâerywhere. Ah cannay imagine settlinâ down tâ any one spot.â
Aasifa: âAasifa is with friend Chadrick. The winds blow everywhere. So does Aasifaâ
Benedict: âI⊠have not given that thought. There is still much of the world for me to see to rightly say. Lady Sayo has spoken much of the east and Iâve heard the Steepe is beautiful.â
Chance: âWhere I live doesnât matter. Where doesnât make it home.â
Felix: âHah. And packs like to keep on the move, right wolfboy? Dravania if I had to pick.â
If you had a warning label, what would yours say?
Lloire: âDanger of death, high voltage.â
Kârisa: âShocking.â *snickers* âUm Cat crossing? I donât know. Iâm not all that dangerous.â
Beta: âI unno, something like Warning, explosion hazards I guess?â
Chadrick: âCaution, âot. Tha rest oâ ye are too damned serious.â
Aasifa: âUmm⊠This is strange question⊠Aasifaâs would say, warning⊠anger Aasifa and he will cut of your head. Is good warning, yes?â
Benedict: âI⊠I think that may be a bit on the nose Master Taqalid. I suppose mine would say Contents under pressure.â
Chance: âWolf advisory in effect.â
Felix: âSeek shelter.â
How do you sleep? With clothes, fitfully or peacefully, lots of pillows?
Lloire: âOdd question⊠I have night clothes⊠a single pillow, and I imagine a bit more fitfully than many others.â
Kârisa: âYou poor thing. I um, have a nightgown. Thatâs all Iâm telling!â
Beta: âRarely and usually where I fall.â
Chadrick: âGodsdamn lad⊠Yer too young fer all oâ thaâ. Get yer rest. Lots oâ pillows and quite peacefully.â
Aasifa: âAasifa has bed made of cushions. He sleeps well. You should try it. Very comfortable.â
Benedict: âI spend most nights in inn rooms. They are comfortable enough.â
Chance: âBedrolls more often than not. I sleep fine.â
Felix: âYou donât want to know⊠trust me. Suffice it to say⊠in velvet.â
Real quick, before you all leave. It was recently Valentioneâs Day here is Eorzea. How did you feel about that holiday?
Lloire: âTch⊠None of your business. My Shield Sister loves it though.â
Kârisa: âI love it! I sold all kinds of cute lingerie!â
Beta: âIkara and I always go out and enjoy the festivities. So I like it.â
Chadrick: âItâs a celebration oâ love, aye? Whaâs nay tâ like unless youâre thaâ gloomy type. Nay dating fer ye eh Lloire? Cut inta tha broodinâ time?â
Aasifa: âThis festival was fun time! Aasifa and companion Rahya scared many moogles and then got chairs for our efforts, yes?â
Benedict: âIâm afraid I did not participate, though the decorations and festivities made Sunny quite happy.â
Chance: ââŠYea, Lloire⊠I still owe you an asswhooping for that. Sheâs still laughing at me⊠ass.â
Felix: âThe pink hurts my eyes⊠Heh, pinkeye. Hmm⊠maybe next year Iâll⊠huh? Oh, weâre done. Great.â
As always, thank you all for answering our readersâ questions. I think next round weâll have another theme. Until then!

Honest Q&A: Round 3! Table
By the Twelve! Youâre all back!? I mean⊠um⊠welcome back, all. Yes. *Cough* Well, as much as it pains me to admit it, I am rather surprised you all accepted my invitation a third time. Excluding mister Mordenson who has⊠um... graciously chosen to join us despite lacking an invitation⊠Letâs begin with the obvious question. As usual, we will go around the table.
What is it that prompts you to answer these questions?
Lloire: âI suppose for myself, itâs that I have been through a lot lately. Answering these helps me better understand that man I was and who he is and who he is becoming. The more you learn about me, the more I learn about myself.â
Beta: âThat⊠was surprisingly honest and introspective. Um⊠We have to be honest right? Iâm mostly here to learn more about that guy and to make snarky comments.â
Chadrick: âAye, ye do seem tâ âave a chip on yer shoulder with âScarsâ there lad. Fer me? Ye offered me thaâ hefty pouch oâ giâOâ⊠too âonest ye say? As ye like.â
Aasifa: âThe winds blow Aasifa here. You must ask them if you are wanting to know this thing, yes?â
Kârisa: âWait, I thought this was some kinda counseling thing? Youâre not just some weirdo asking random questions are you?â
Benedict: âMaster Peace there has the right of it. To know oneself is to know the gods.â
Chance: âGood fucking question. Hells if I know.â
Felix: *Laughs* âMaster⊠Peace. Hah. I was bored.â
Alright. Well, now that we have that settled, letâs get into the list of questions our readers have, yes? Great.
Imagine a future point in your life where all your dreams come true. It's the greatest moment in your life and you get to experience it with -one- person. Who's standing next to you?
Lloire: ââŠI⊠Well⊠I have no idea. It depends on the path I take I suppose. We defeat the empire, itâs Ikara or Soren. I manage to uncover all the lost magicks of the world and start a new school of magick, probably Yuti. I⊠retire and settle down to cook and live with a family⊠Some unknown person Iâve not met yet or a child I suppose. Choosing one person is too difficult I fear.â
Beta: âNo itâs not. Watch. Ikara.â *Eyes Lloire suspiciously*
Chadrick: âAhâm with tha lad truthfully. But maybe thaâs just us and ye âave way more close friends than we. Fer me though, Aislyn.â
Aasifa: âHmm, if Aasifaâs dreams are coming true, he is likely alone but he is rathering companion Rahya is with him, yes?â
Kârisa: âRathering is not a word. Where are you from anyways? Oh, I, uh, sorry I asked. Anyways, I donât know enough people and Iâm not all that close to anyone anymore so, I canât say. Maybe the kid there. Heâs adorable and snarky and would probably make whatever it was all the more fun.â
Benedict: âSunny would be with me. This much I know.â
Chance: âHelfyre.â
Felix: âOh, youâd all be witness to it.â *cackles* âBut only Aya would be standing beside me.â
On an average day, what can be found in your pockets?
Lloire: âHmm, crystals, jewels, a knife, a few vials perhaps. Some gil obviously. On average.â
Beta: âGears, wires, bolts, screws, tube of grease, tools, crystals, some nuts and berries maybe. Paper, pen. Um⊠tape, maybe some choco- oh, thatâs enough Sure.â
Chadrick: âA wee bit oâ gil Ah suppose. Most eâerythin else is in me pack instead. Ah prefer tâ keep light on me feet.â
Aasifa: âHmm, let Aasifa be seeing, yes?â *Starts emptying out pockets on the table* âPepper shaker, feather of big fluffy dragon with hard to say name, someone elseâs grocery list, wishbone of Dodo bird. Hmm⊠Ball of yarn, playing card, ball from Moogle Paw game. A shell from a snail. A pair of broken spectacles, a frog. Hmm, this is where garlean rubber band ball went. Wait⊠where is Aasifaâs cotton bolls?â
Kârisa: âH-how did, did, you, fit?â *rubs her eyes* âAnyways! Sewing needle, thread, gil, measuring tape, that kinda stuff.â
Benedict: âGil, as the others have noted⊠save for Lord Taqalid there. I also keep pamphlets for those interested in learning more of the Twelve as well as marks for each of them. Would anyone here like a pamphlet, no? AlrightâŠâ
Chance: âGil. Knife.â
Felix: âHmm, herb, poisons, bones, stones, vial of various bloods. Whatâs with the look? Oh please⊠fine.â
Whatâs a body part that you wouldnât mind losing?
Lloire: âDo we get to live without it? If so, Iâd happily remove my heart.â
Beta: âWowâŠ. Just wow. That⊠yea.. um⊠Iâd say⊠Maybe a leg? I could build a magitek one to replace mine. Maybe build a firearm inside it. One of those small ones that pops out in a bind. That would be neat, right?â
Chadrick: âRight⊠Ye both âave given this thought before Ah see⊠Ahâd pick, feck⊠me little finger on me nay dominant âand Ah suppose. Cannay imagine losing me ability tâ see tha beauty oâ tha world, or smell good food some lass cooked, or hear âer beautiful singing or⊠well, ye get tha idea.â
Aasifa: âAasifa is picking his appendix, yes?â
Kârisa: âYour what now? I almost wanna swap seats again. Iâd lose, an ear I guess? I could always wear hats to hide it.â
Benedict: âHmm, I need my legs and arms to pray, perhaps an eye. Even if I lost both, Sunny leads us where we need to go anyways.â
Chance: âNone. What? He said âmindâ. Iâd mind losing anything. Youâre all freaks for not minding.â
Felix: âYou know what an appendix is?â *eyes Aasifa* âI mean, that -is- the best answer, but mine is anything except my head. Whatever it is can be grown back.â
What are three labels that you identify with?
Lloire: âMage, survivor, guilty.â
Beta: âYup⊠that sounds about right. You prolly shouldâa added Martyr first though. For me, Engineer, Inventor, and⊠Young.â
Chadrick: âWell shyte⊠âero, dashinâ, anâ expert.â
Aasifa: âWhat is label meaning? Oh! This thing! Aasifa is called vagrant, vagabond, and drifter, yes?â
Kârisa: âSure, Chad, sure. So glad you didnât add humble. I guess for me it would be miqoâte, seamstress, excitable.â
Benedict: âThis is an easy question. Faithful, devout, and friendâ
Chance: âMerc, wolf, practical.â
Felix: âManipulative, cunning, shadow.â
 Do you believe in soulmates?
Lloire: â⊠I did.â
Beta: ââŠnot touching that one. Um, yes. I do.â
Chadrick: âLook, ye can test thaâ souls are real. Ye can also force two souls tâ bind tâgether. Itâs nay âbout belief. Itâs tha science oâ animas. But tâ answer tha question yer actually posing, nay. There be nay two people perfectly matched fer one another. Believinâ so will break yer âeart. Thereâs struggles anâ pain anâ shyte tâ work through to make things work, aye?â
Aasifa: âAasifa is disagreeing. There is someone perfect for you, they are just not perfect person, yes?â
Kârisa: âIâm with Lloire.â
Benedict: âDivine is their will. I cannot say that Nymeiaâs hand does not guide two threads together in the forming of a beautiful tapestry.â
Chance: âNo. Shitâs dumb. Iâm with snowylocks there. You find someone you wanna be with and you work with them to make it. It isnât some meant to be thing that doesnât take hard work.â
Felix: âHmm, actually. Yes. I do.â
What is the most beautiful thing you've ever seen?
Lloire: âThis may sound morbid⊠but the calamity. It was horrifying, terrifying, yet, beautiful it its raw destructive power. Bahamut is a terrible creature. Terrible, yet beautiful.â
Beta: âThat⊠you are just full of surprises today. Anyroad⊠I saw some sketches of the inner workings of Alexander while speaking with some goblins in Idyllshire. They were the most⊠um. I mean Ikara. Yup! Definitely Ikara.â
Chadrick: âThaâ was tha worst save in tha âistory oâ lads sayinâ dumb shyte thaâ might get back tâ their lasses eâer boyo. Ye need some practice. Ah can give ye a few pointers if ye like later. As fer me? Me maâs smile.â
Aasifa: âFriend Chadrick is sweet person at times, yes? The lights of golden saucer from afar are prettiest thing Aasifa is thinking of.â
Kârisa: âChadrick! Donât you dare corrupt that sweet, innocent, pure boy!â *Huffs* âOh, right⊠umm⊠Snowfields. They just look so pure. Even if itâs cold as heck.â
Benedict: âThe Sanctum of the Twelve is a beautiful place if you have not been.â
Chance: âGet the feeling âScarsâ there would disagree Benny. Sunrise. Means you made it through the night.â
Felix: âThere was this Alagan princessâŠâ
 Moving on!
What single act are you most ashamed of?
Lloire: âTrying to kill myself.â
Beta: âGood! You should be! But um⊠Iâm glad you realized that⊠so um⊠thatâs good. Uh⊠Oh! I know. Um, when I upset Ikara by not knowing what she meant about liking me and an awkward first kiss and yea⊠I felt like a warped tool.â
Chadrick: âStealinâ from an old woman. Ah mean, she diânay know âow dangerous whaâ she âad was⊠anâ it was fer âer own good⊠but still, it felt nasty, aye?â
Aasifa: âAasifa let someone he was close to take her own life, yes? He did not see how miserable she had become and did not make better. This is greatest failure.â
Kârisa: âThatâs, really sad. Um. For me, failing for a hero.â
Benedict: âI think those thoughts are best left for confession with oneâs gods.â
Chance: âNothing wrong with falling for a hero. Iâm not ashamed of what Iâve done. I wouldnât change things.â
Felix: âWhat I put my daughter through.â
Everyone has disdain for something or someone.  Who or what do you consider yourself to be âaboveâ?
Lloire: âIf Iâm to be honest⊠those who the Imperials subjugate. The ones who work for them after they have been conquered. I have to fight off those feelings.â
Beta: âYea, not everyone is a stupidly stubborn as you. Um⊠I guess⊠if I have to say⊠brutish people who only solve things with violence?â
Chadrick: âPrimals. Nasty buggers. Nay âave any respect fer somethinâ thaâ enslaves its followers.â
Aasifa: âThe dirt? For now, yes.â
Kârisa: âThatâs not what they--. Nevermind. Um, Iâm with Chad on this one. Fuck Ifrit and his followers.â
Benedict: âI am a lowly man in service to the Gods. No one is below me.â
Chance: âCowards.â
Felix: âItâs better for all of your prides that I simply pass on this one.â
What do you wish you had more time for?
Lloire: âFishing.â
Beta: âSpending time with Ikara. I should make more time.â
Chadrick: âEâerything. There are nay enough âours in thaâ day tâ get eâerythin accomplished.â
Aasifa: âLiving, Aasifa is thinking, yes?â
Kârisa: âTo keep track of Jâahama and Pâarunru and to just hang out with them.â
Benedict: âI would like to have more time devoted to do things Sunny enjoys doing. She gets bored with my reading and prayers and I would want to spend more time letting her have fun.â
Chance: âIâm kept busy enough. Iâm good, thanks.â
Felix: âI have all the time in the world.â
What are some skills that you think everyone should learn?
Lloire: âSewing and cooking. You can get though a lot of things that way. People tend to be more agreeable on a full stomach. Knowing how to close a wound with a needle can save a life.â
Beta: âI⊠think youâre the only person that took up sewing to learn to apply it to flesh. I think everyone should know the basics of magitek operation. Itâs not going anywhere guys, even if the Empire crumbles.â
Chadrick: âEâeryone should learn tâ play an instrument. Music can soothe tha savage beast as they say. Whether itâs an actual beast or yer beast within.â
Aasifa: âAasifa is thinking everyone is needing to know how to defend selves, yes? Hmm, he is wondering how friend Lâania has been now.â
Kârisa: âThe brooding handsome over there already gave my answer, but for me, you never know when your clothes will catch a snag or rip and its way better to travel through Ishgard or the desert without torn clothing.â
Benedict: âNavigation! I am awful at it and would be lost without my guide. I really must offer Llymlaen more prayers.â
Chance: âBasic shit. How to light a fire without aether, pitch a tent, gather firewood, survival in the wilderness kind of things. Seen a lot of corpses out in the wild just dead to the elements.â
Felix: âAlchemy. Youâd be surprised at what can be accomplished through it.â
How good of a dancer are you?
Lloire: âDecent. Better when itâs a slow dance with a partner. Iâm not terribly great at the solo dances unless they are more ritualistic or tribal in nature.â
Beta: âYea, no. Iâve got two left feet. Iâm really bad at dancing.â
Chadrick: âStep dance, slow dance, dance at a ball. Ye name it, Ahâll manage it. Luâ made sure oâ thaâ.â
Aasifa: âYes. Aasifa is thinking he can dance well.â
Kârisa: âI havenât had much chance to learn. -Someone- was still pouting about his ex and her dancing.â
Benedict: âI⊠do not dance. Sunny does though! She is very good at it.â
Chance: âDo I -look- like I dance?â
Felix: âNo, not really wolf-boy, but neither does Lloire there, so... Myself? I was forced to learn eventually. Been a few dozen years since Iâve needed to though.â
Do you have any good luck charms or rituals?
Lloire: âAye, I have a Gagaroon luck-die that Soren gave me a while back. I never travel without the thing. Iâm still alive despite my best efforts, so I imagine the thing works.â
Beta: âYea, if that thing is to blame, we all could use one. Um, I have a lucky wrench? I guess that counts?â
Chadrick: âPsh! Me blood is lucky. Anâ Ahâve all tha charm Ahâll eâer need.â *Laughs* âJestinâ aside, nay Ah diânay carry around any sort oâ lucky charms.â
Aasifa: âAasifa has pendant that is for this purpose, yes? He is loaning to friend to keep safe.â
Kârisa: âNope. Iâm all full up on luck and charms, thanks.â
Benedict: âNymeia is favored by those who seek luck. Having her with me at all times should suffice.â
Chance: âFools that trust to luck wind up dead.â
Felix: âYou, mister wolf, are no fun. I have one of our companions old coins. He was the embodiment of luck.â
 Worst injury you have had?
Lloire: âAssuming weâre not going with self-inflicted, it would be the repeated beatings to my face that left me half blind.â
Beta: âOh, not counting self-inflicted. That took out half of yours, huh? Um⊠I guess the small burn I got when that ceruleum tank caught fire?â
Chadrick: âAh âad this âead injury, made me forget who Ah was fer a time.â
Aasifa: âAasifa was stabbed through stomach once. Very painful! Yes.â
Kârisa: âIâve been lucky enough not to get hurt too bad yet.â
Benedict: âAs have I.â
Chance: âTook an arrow to my heel once. That brought me down awhile.â
Felix: âJust one? I remember I took about fifteen or so once. Blood everywhere.â
Who influenced your personality growing up?
Lloire: âMy maâ and Aliya later.â
Beta: âUm⊠Lucilus I suppose.â
Chadrick: âLad, yer still growinâ up. Fer me it was definitely me ma anïżœïżœ me da. Both in their own way.â
Aasifa: âThe Commander of the Guard.â
Kârisa: âMy father.â
Benedict: âHalone largely, but also my aunt.â
Chance: âMyself.â
Felix: âNettleâs family.â
If you could remove one emotion from your life, which would you choose?
Lloire: âGuilt most likely.â
Beta: âIâd get rid of bitterness. I hate that feeling.â
Chadrick: âNay a damned one. Thereâs too much oâ life in each. Ye get rid oâ sadness anâ ye lose sight oâ whaâ it means â be âappy. Ye lose guilt per say, anâ whaâ is there tâ make ye learn tâ nay âurt others?â
Aasifa: âFear. Aasifa would be fearless!â
Kârisa: âJealousy. Itâs a nasty nasty emotion.â
Benedict: *turns a shade of red* âDesire.â
Chance: âI think thatâs just call lust Benny. And oddball, fear is important, keeps you alive. Iâm kinda with snowylocks. You need all of them to be effective.â
Felix: âNo, no. I like Lloireâs answer for once. Guilt weighs too much.â
Well, thank you for your answers. Will I see you all again next time?
Lloire: âMost likely.â
Beta: âSure. Itâs interesting to see what you come up with to ask us.â
Chadrick: âSâlong as ye keep up our agreement, aye.â
Aasifa: âIf the winds blow Aasifa this way.â
Kârisa: âWhy not?â
Benedict: âTwelve willing.â
Chance: ââŠâ
Felix: âPerhaps. Weâll see.â

A Beautiful Friendship
âHey boss. Isnât that the guy?â
âWhat guy?â
âYea boss, thatâs him! Thatâs the guy Ozapha or whatever he kept sayingâ
The Roe straightened some from his seat on the fountain as  tried to get a better look at the Miqoâte his men were pointing out to him. The clothing was similar, that was true, but it might be another fool from Thavnair or just a random bloke that wanted to dress up. He watched the Miqoâte for a bit as he crossed through the ward. He stopped, spoke to someone that did not seem to know him, carried on, stopped at a fountain and tossed a gil into the water, and carried on. The man did not seem to have any destination or purpose.
âLetâs go.â Cracking his knuckles, Silent Falcon stood and started off towards the Miqoâte, his two men right behind him. His gait picked up as he hurried to catch up with him.
âOi! Ozapha wasnât it?â
It was. The younger man turned at hearing the name and tilted his head curiously. âYou are meaning Aasifa? How am I helping you?â He replied in his thick accent. The Roe walked up to him until there was barely a foot between them, towering over the Miqoâte. âYou can start by giving me back my apartment and all the other shit you took from me.â
The closeness did not seem to bother Aasifa and rather than look intimidated he simple cast a smile up at the Roe. âOh! Aasifa is remembering you now. We are playing cards in Golden Saucer, yes?â Silent Falcon sneered. âI donât know how you did it⊠but I know you cheated. No one plays that well. Iâd have kicked your ass then and there, but then Iâdâve been banned from the saucer.â
âSoâŠ. You are wanting rematch?â The Miqoâte offered curiously.
Falconâs eye twitched. âNo you bleeding curr! Youâre going to give me everything back. All of it down to the last gil or my boys and I are gonna take it from your hide!â
Aasifa shook his head. âNo. A thousand apologies friend. But this is way of game, yes? You are losing, you pay up. Aasifa is not cheater. Aasifa is thinking cheating chance is great sin, yes?â He gave a slight shrug and turned to walk away. Furious, Falcon grabbed the younger manâs shoulder and spun him back around. âDonât you turn your back on me!â
One blink. Then another. âThen how is Aasifa to continue his journey?â
The manâs temple pulsed. âThatâs it! I donât give a fuck if youâre some idiot foreigner. You need to learn who the fuck youâre dealing with!â
The Roeâs fist shot forward without warning. Knees bent and Aasifaâs leaned back, almost ninety degrees as he watched the punch narrowly miss him. Falcon stared confused for a moment. He had been there, now he was gone. It only took a moment to realize what happened, but that was all the time the Miqoâte needed. He sprang back like line drawn too taut and released. His own fist slammed into the Roeâs gut, sending him staggering backwards and knocking the breath from him.
A moment or two pass as he tries to draw air. âWhat are you two waiting for! Get him!â
They rush towards Aasifa. The faster one pays for his speed with a kick to the face. The second slams a fist into the Miqoâteâs side, robbing him of air as well. That earns him a backhand. Still, Aasifaâs sword remains at his side.
âYou are sore loser. Having not heard no many times in life. This is way, yes?â
âShut the hell up. Get up! Both of you. Thereâs three of us!â
A sigh. âBeing sore loser is not cause enough to die⊠Aasifa is glad you are not carrying weapons. I do not want to explain to Brass men why you are losing heads.â He dropped into a wider stance, centering his gravity better. âPlease be letting Aasifa leave peacefully. I am not wanting to hurt you.â
An incomprehensible growl of frustration.
To their credit, the three men attacked as one. A broken nose, a busted lip, and several bruises later they finally had Aasifa on his knees with each arm held by one of Falconâs men.
âDipshit foreignerâŠâ
He wiped the blood from his mouth. A moment to look at it on his hand before the anger boiled over again. A loud crack followed. Aasifa spat blood on the ground. âYou are wasting time, yes? Someone will call authorities⊠be getting this over withâŠâ
And other crack. Three dull thuds followed by a cough and a gasp. The Thavnairian winced as he drew in air with bruised ribs. Silent Falcon frowned. âI want my money!â A kick to the side followed and Aasifa grunted. âI⊠I will not be giving to you⊠You did not win. You are sore loser.â
The Roeâs face contorted with anger as he widely drew back his fist. âFucking bastard! Iâm gonna teach you some resp-â
A hand grabbed the thick wrist, holding it still.
âNow lad⊠is this thaâ way tâ settle an argument?â
A heavy shove had Falcon struggling for his footing. His two men stuttered at the same time, obviously caught completely off guard. ââT-the fuck are you!?â
A rapier came up from the Hyurâs side and pointed at the one with a broken nose. âIâm thaâ eâened odds ye piss ant. Now, ye be lettinâ mâfriend there go, or Ahâm goinâ tâ leave thaâ mug oâ yers uglier than itâalready is.â
Falcon, now standing straight again frowned. âStay the hells out of th-â
The Hyur dashed right in front of him, his rapier coming up and smacking the Roe in the temple with the flat of the blade. âYe be a right arse, donâtcha?â He jumped into the air, flipping over the other two and Aasifa, the blade coming up again, this time tapping lightly between the thirdâs legs.
âListen lad. Ahâve tried tâ be kind about thisâŠ. But Iâm nay too keen on seeinâ three âefty blokes like ye ganginâ up on one person.â He shifted the blade slightly, angling the sharpened side slightly higher. âSo⊠unless ye would rather be a lass⊠tha three oâ ye are goinâ tâ apologize and then run along.â
The third man started to shake. âB-bossâŠ?â
Falcon sneered. âYou made an enemy today idiotâŠâ
Chadrick rose a brow, tilting the blade and earning an âahh, ahh, ahhhâ for the movement.
âFine! But this isnât over⊠for either of you!â
Chad frowned. âAh did say ye owed me friend âere an apology.â
The man whose thigh trembled against Chadrickâs rapier was more than convinced to speak. âWeâre sorry! Sorry! We was just doinâ what we know! Shouldnâna done it! Iâm sorry!â
The Hyur sighed. âFine. Thaâll do lad⊠now, get lost.â
The men let go of Aasifaâs arms. One dashing to his leaderâs side quickly. The other slowly squirming away before making a mad rush to the others.
Silent Falcon growled low in his throat but without saying anything else he pointed angrily at the exit from the Goblet before following his men.
Chad waited for them to be out of sight before he knelt down and offered Aasifa a hand up. âYe alrighâ then lad?â
The Miqoâte straightened himself after letting Chadrick help him to his feet. âAasifa can take punch. A thousand thank you for the help though friend.â The Hyur smiled at him and helped dust him off. âDiânay mention it. I cannay stand seeinâ grown men gang up on someone like thaâ.â
Aasifa shrugged. âIf the winds wanted this, Aasifa is understanding. Instead, the winds are bringing new friend into Aasifaâs life.â A small laugh. âIt takes someone a wee bit oâ crazy tâ see tha bright side oâ gettingâ jumped. Ah like it.â He gave a slight bow. âChadrick Tamasier by anâ by. Pleasure tâ meet ye Aasifa.â The Miqoâte rubbed lightly at his ribs. âIt is very good to be meeting you friend Chadrick.â
The Hyur looked Aasifa up and down a moment in concern. âAh can âeal those a bit if ye like, or we can find ye a real âealer?â Aasifa shook his head. âNo, no. It is fine thing. Aasifa will be stronger now.â He tapped himself lightly on the chest before offering Chadrick a large smile. âCome! You are helping Aasifa. Aasifa will buy friend Chadrick food.â Another laugh followed. âWell Aasifa, ye sure know âow tâ win a lad like me oâer. Itâs been a wee bit since ah ate, so⊠sure.â He held out a hand to let Aasifa take the lead. âIf ye are keen on feedinâ me, this could be tha start oâ a beautiful friendship.â

Honest Q&A: Round 4! 7x7 Table
Well, well, well⊠weâre all back again are we? Given some of your answers, Iâm mainly glad youâre all still here to answer these.
Well, right to business then. It looks like our readers picked something of an overarching topic today. Everyone seated where they want? Good. Weâll start, as usual, with you mister Peace.
Faith is a belief in the right things. Who or what would you say you have the most faith in?
Lloire: âHmm, thatâs a good question. I think it depends on time. In the past I put all of my faith in the Blades, present⊠I put my faith in Aeritria. Most everyone thought I was a fool for it, but sheâs come a long way. My faith for the future though, I leave that with Imouto.â
Beta: âIkara is the only one of those that makes the slightest bit of sense. I have faith in progress, Weâre going to build a utopia like they wanna make in Idyllshire one day.â
Chadrick: âAh suppose Ah âave faith in me company. They do good work, important work, anâ they diânay back away from it when things get rough or messy.â
Aasifa: âAasifa is believing in chance, yes? Chance is fair. It is not caring who you are.â
Kârisa: âThatâs just freedom from responsibility! You just let things happen and when someone calls you on it, âoh, itâs not my fault itâs just the way chance fellâ and thatâs just cheating! Oh. Sorry, yet. My question. I have faith in hard work. If you try with everything youâve got, youâll succeed, right?â
Benedict: âI believe Iâve made myself clear on this subject. My faith is with the Twelve.â
Chance: âMyself. After me, people whoâve proven themselves.â
Felix: âFaith is misleading, trust me. Even faith in yourself. Look for proof, always.â
Pride is an excessive belief in one's own abilities. In what do you take the most pride? A particular skill? A remarkable achievement?
Lloire: âI know, I know Beta. Youâll likely have some comment about my pride in not accepting help or in surviving light-fatal injuries. But no. I have the most pride in my magicks. It is the one thing my mother left me and those closest to me helped me see as something good and not a curse. I can be very prideful about it.â
Beta: âYea, I was gonna say something bout your pig-headedness actually, but, good calls on the other two as well. Um, for me? Iâm most proud of my designs that help people. So the modified âBitsâ models I guess.â
Chadrick: âAs tha big bloke is probably itchinâ tâ say, pride comes before tha fall, aye? Itâs well anâ good tâ know yer strengths, but tha moment ye get too damned cocky anâ think yer tha best at somethinâ⊠ye can be sure someone will come along tâ prove ye wrong.â
Aasifa: âPride is not thing you can have when leaving so much to chance, yes? Does Aasifa take pride in outcome, when he allowed winds to guide him? No. This would be fool thing.â
Kârisa: âOkay, Yea, Iâm changing seats. I wanna sit next to the cutey and the broody. Anyways. I guess I take the most pride in how I look. What I wear. That sort of thing. Itâd be kind of silly to be in the fashion business and not take pride in that, right?â
Benedict: âI fear I have become predictable. Yes, pride is something we must all try to overcome. However, as mortals we are flawed and I am no less so than the others here. I take great pride in my moral convictions.â
Chance: âEveryone at this damned table should be proud youâre still alive. Doing better than scores of others.â
Felix: âHmph. The most? My mind. All of my noteworthy achievements have come from it.â
Hope is taking a positive future view, that good will prevail. What would you say that you hope for the most?
Lloire: âThat good will prevail? Tch. You answered your own question. The fall of the Empire.â
Kârisa: âLofty dreams there handsome. Um, I just hope to be happy and successful and maybe help out other people like me who donât fit in at home and head out on their own.â
Beta: âHey! I was sitting ther⊠whatever. Anyways, yea, fall of the empire will be great. Wonder what weâll do with all those corpses?â *rolls eyes* âI hope the emperor dies and someone with a heart takes over.â
Chadrick: âSheesh lad, anâ Risa thought âScarsâ there âad lofty goals. Me, ah âope tâ see me name written in tha stars. Ah want tâ do something sâ âeroic thaâ they tell stories oâ me deeds for ages tâ come.â
Aasifa: âWhat does one use to write name in sky friend Chadrick? Oh! Yes, it is Aasifaâs question. Hmm⊠Aasifa hopes that when he is gone, those who have been knowing him think fondly on those memories, yes?â
Benedict: âMy most sincere hope is that I can bring light into the lives of those I know and show them the -true- meaning of the Twelveâs love.â
Chance: âGag me on a knife Benny. I âsincerelyâ hope you get laid and realize thereâs more to the world and living than your Twelve.â
Felix: âYou know⊠You might be alright Wolf-boy. I hope you all get better dreams.â
Envy is wanting what others have, be it status, abilities, or possessions. Is there someone or something you are envious of? It doesnât have to be a huge all-consuming envy, even something small.
Lloire: âI am envious of the people with families I admit. You see them, be they merchant, adventurer, layman, going home to their family. They always have this small smile. Itâs that small smile I find myself jealous of.â
Kârisa: âThatâs, really sad and sweet. Um. I guess Iâm envious of the success of others. You know, those people who donât even have to try and fortune just follows them. Ugh! They make me angry.â
Beta: ââŠâ *slight pause* ââŠoh, sorry. Um⊠I guess Iâm jealous of everyone to a small bit. I mean, even the people who didnât have real good childhoods, they had more of a childhood than me.â
Chadrick: âWhaâ an odd thing tâ say lad. Ah mean⊠ye be barely past childhood, aye? In any case, Ah âate tâ be thaâ lad⊠but Ah cannay say Ahâm envious oâ anyone. Eâen tha âeroes Ah want tâ emulate⊠Nay any since beinâ jealous oâ whaâ Ah just âave nay achieved -yet-, aye?â
Aasifa: âAasifa⊠envies those who do not have to die for freedom, yes? They are blessed souls and are not knowing they are so.â
Benedict: âDo not covet anoth-âŠâ *sighs* âI am hiding behind my beliefs. I understand Master Peaceâs envy I think. Not entirely the same, but⊠the closeness a couple shares. That warmth and security. I can⊠understand the desire.
Chance: âTch. Youâre getting to fuckers with these questions. Envious? The gods envy âusâ. Each breath we take, as they might be our last. So why should I envy anyone else?â
Felix: âI envy dragons. Learning their language was great, but there are some words our puny tongues just cannot say and itâs frustrating as all seven hells.â
Charity is concern for, and active helping of, others. Do you believe yourself to exhibit this virtue? Be it yours or anotherâs, what act or moment stands out for you as a charitable one?
Lloire: âI cannot say I am all that charitable. Not when I know someone like Tyranie. She gives her time, her coin, her heart to Ulâdahâs orphans. I could never claim to be charitable knowing someone like her.â
Kârisa: âI disagree handsome. Just cause someone is more charitable doesnât mean you arenât at all. I think Iâm pretty charitable. I found a couple girls who were in the same situation I used to be and I hired them and put them to work.â
Beta: âNo offense miss, that just makes you sound like an entrepreneur. Iâve never really given charity much thought, but maybe I should. Miss Serendipity is pretty charitable. She gave me a place to stay, fed me, and helped me find work too when I first came to Eorzea.â
Chadrick: âNay. Ahâm nay tha charitable sort. Ah mean⊠a portion oâ me salary is donated tâ tha Gridanian orphanages anâ tha like, but Ah diânay go out oâ me way tâ be charitable.â
Aasifa: âAasifa is bad man maybe. He is generous with those he is knowing, but does not give to people he is not. Too many people are thinking treasure is important, yes? Do not see things in front of them. Aasifa will not help others see things this way.â
Benedict: âWe were taught to be charitable. After all, the Saint of Nymeia is a well-known story in Ishgard. We are expected to live in his image. I think the greatest charity I ever saw though was an anonymous donation that was made right as the Dragonsong war came to an end for the orphans there. I remember it was made in some womanâs name. Otori I think?â
Chance: âDogs beg for scraps. Not men. I donât give, but I will teach. Itâll serve them better if they learn.â
Felix: âIâve donated a library or two in my time. Iâm with Wolf-boy again. Learning serves the needy better than being freely handed what they want.â
Gluttony is the desire to eat or consume more than you require. What is the one thing best guaranteed to show off your gluttonous side?
Lloire: âThe one thing? Whiskey I suppose. I remember this one time⊠Berkanoâs wedding⊠AhhâŠâ
Kârisa: âChocolate! Itâs so good!â
Beta: âUm, Iâm not real sure I have something like that. Coffee is the closest I guess?â
Chadrick: âTis nay me style. Both me ma anâ me daâ were keen on balance anâ in only usinâ whaâ ye absolutely need. So, Ah fear tha best answer Ah could give ye is water⊠since Ah sometimes take more than Ah might need⊠just in case.â
Aasifa: âWater is very important friend Chadrick. Aasifa is much the same, but if there is curry, Aasifa will eat far more than his fill. He is missing curry greatly.â
Benedict: âI can fully admit that gluttony has no sway on me. I do not overindulge in the slightest.â
Chance: âYea, no. Having âenoughâ is good by me. Iâm more worried about not having enough for me and whoever is with me than over doing it.â
Felix: âMeat. Of any kind. Bacon, steak, ground lamb. I donât care. As long as there is meat on the table I will probably keep eating.â
Fortitude is never giving up. With as many strong willed people as there are here, I imagine this will prompt good responses. What is it you would never give up on? Is it a person, a goal?
Lloire: âIn the spirit of the questionâŠ. I will answer as such. I do not give up on anything that I set my mind to. Pain is no obstacle. If I choose to do something, itâs getting done. If people are born with one innate trait, I believe fortitude would be mine.â
Kârisa: âI um. Iâd say, um. My fatherâs memory. Iâd never give that up.â
Beta: âAnd here weâve been calling it foolish stubbornness all this time Lloire. Who knew it was just fortitude? I think the one thing I really wanna never give up on is trying to be a good person.â
Chadrick: âRisaâs right, ye are pretty pure lad. Maybe Ah should move seats now. Anyroad⊠Ahâd say me own life goal is whaâ it is fer me. Ah diânay want tâ imagine a world where Ahâm no longer chasinâ thaâ dream.â
Aasifa: âAasifa will never be giving up living, yes? Every day to fullest!â
Benedict: âWhat a wonderful answer Master Taqalid. I will never give up trying to spread the joy of faith to others.â
Chance: âWeâll say itâs a person, and leave it at that.â
Felix: âMy penance.â
Lust is a powerful craving for things such as sex and power. Do you feel that you give in to those temptations easily? What do you lust after the most?
Lloire: âYes, I do. Power. I have fallen victim to my lust for power in desperate situations more times than I can count.â
Kârisa: âPower? Thatâs what you go for? Well, there go my chances. Um, I guess uh-â *makes a face* âThe wrong kind of men.â
Beta: *laughs* âItâs okay miss Mau. Iâd have warned you away from him all day if I thought that was a thing. Um, can I claim Iâm too young to answer this question? No? Why not? Fine⊠Um⊠Iâm a teenage boy! What do you think!?â
Chadrick: âWhoa, whoa, there lad. Nay any reason tâ get defensive. Itâs perfectly natural. Anâ teenage âas nay a thing tâ do with it. Itâs me answer as well. Ahâm weak tâ the fairer sex anâ Ah know it. â
Aasifa: âAasifa is not so weak to this he is thinking. Sex, power, fame, these things are ever changing. They are momentary things. It good when having, is less so when without. Aasifa is seeing these things like the wind.â
Benedict: âYou⊠are a strange man at times Master Taqalid. I⊠believe I would rather pass on⊠Yes, I understand that everyone else has⊠no I donât mean to⊠FINE. Master Tamisier and Master Imito have the right of it.â
Chance: âDonât get so worked up Priest. Youâre a man too you know. Lust is fine, so long as you stay in control. Donât go after something fleeting.â
Felix: âOh, wonderful. I ended up agreeing with âScarsâ was it? Power is far more tempting than anything else. Even redheads and goths.â
Justice is being fair and equitable with others. It is the guiding principle of certain Dark Knights. Do you believe in justice? Is such a thing possible in the world we live in?
Lloire: âYes. Justice is very important in the world we live it. Sometimes though, we must operate outside the law to see justice done. Sometimes, we alone can see to our own justices.â
Kârisa: âWell, thereâs our dark knight ladies and gents. Justice is for the law to figure out. Not me. Vengeance I can get behind, justice not so much.â
Beta: âBrute Justice is such a kickass song!â
Chadrick: âAh diânay think⊠whaâeâer⊠Anyroad⊠Justice is circumstantial. Justice tâ ye looks like vengeance tâ another anâ looks like a crime tâ still a third. So, aye, itâs real⊠but I diânay think in tha way ye meant it.â
Aasifa: âNo friend Chadrick. There is good, and there is evil. Justice is taking head from evil man.â
Benedict: âMust we kill them though? A dead man cannot repent. I believe we can find a way to both serve justice and not become murderers ourselves. Gridania seems to manage well enough.â
Chance: âTreehuggers let an Imperial turncoat go free and he ended up siding with the Braves and getting people killed Benny. Justice is meted out on the field and nowhere else. Oddballs got this one right.â
Felix: âAgreed. We met out our own justice when needed. The law can only do so much.â
Anger is the loss of rational self-control and the desire to harm others. Are you one to lose control to your anger? What was the worst case of letting it loose that comes to mind?
Lloire: âOh, no. Anger isnât just losing control. I lose control and lightning strikes and fire erupts but usually no one is hurt. That cold anger⊠when you understand how very angry you are⊠it is so much worse. When you look into the eyes of the men youâre killing and watch the light fade because the anger is frozen in your heart. âThat- is real anger.â
Kârisa: âOkay. Maybe I donât wanna sit next to any of you. Um, Iâve been really angry before. A bit actually. I donât lose control and hurt people though. Just lotsa shouting.â
Beta: âI hate being angry like that. Thereâs only one person who has ever made me that angry. I donât really know what Iâd do if I was alone with her though.â
Chadrick: âNay, anger blinds. Ahâm nay one tâ give in tâ thaâ. Ah always try tâ keep a cool head.â
Aasifa: âAasifa gets angry. You are trying to hurt Aasifaâs friend, you are losing head, yes?â
Benedict: âYou are overly fond of decapitation Master Taqalid. I for one believe anger must be reined in. I fear I have no examples of losing control to share.â
Chance: âAnger like thatâll get you killed on the field. Gotta control that shit.â
Felix: âAgreed. Especially those with great power. If you lose control, you might end up killing those you mean to protect.â
Prudence is care of and moderation with gil. This one is a bit simpler. Are you a gil-pincher or do you spend with abandon?
Lloire: âGil-pincher for sure. Iâm not even sure why. Just always have been.â
Kârisa: âYup, Iâm with tall dark and wealthy here. Itâs better to save where you can.â
Beta: âI guess Iâm a spender? I mean, I saved enough to get an Apartment in the east for me and Ikara⊠but I usually am buying gadgets and spare parts I âmightâ need.â
Chadrick: âAhâd love tâ say Ahâm smart with me money and save eâery copper gil Ah make... But thaâd be a lie. Ahâm far too keen on fancy digs or new swords or tha like. Ahâm definitely a spender. Good thing Ahâve a decent gig, aye?â
Aasifa: âAasifa is not worrying over material things, yes? So I am guessing he is spender kind?â
Benedict: âI am not the sort to worry over coin. If I have it I will spend it. Be it a meal for my companions and me, or to ease our travels.â
Chance: âNeither. Iâm practical. Armorâs busted, pay to fix it or get new armor. Iâm not gonna buy cheap armor and get myself or someone else dead but Iâm not gonna trim it in gold either.â
Felix: âNeither, like wolf boy. Buy whatâs needed or desired, save the rest.â
Greed is the desire for material wealth or gain. Some might think this goes hand in hand with prudence but that is not the case. Even those who string their gil-pouches tightest can be known for their charity or simply do not fret over making more gil. Are you a take-take-take sort? Is the gathering of wealth important to you?
Lloire: âI donât see myself as take-take-taje, but I understand the importance of having a savings for times of trouble. Wealth is simply another form of power to wield.â
Kârisa: âIâm a business woman. Iâd be lying if I said wealth wasnât important.â
Beta: âYea, no. Iâll scavenge a junk yard just as soon as the markets. Thanks.â
Chadrick: âDiânay get me wrong. Wealthâs a nice thing tâ âave. Ahâd much rather be wealthy than poor⊠But if Ah âad tâ take a pay cut tâ stay adventurinâ or get a raise anâ get put behind a desk⊠Pay cut it is.â
Aasifa: âTreasure means little to Aasifa. He can choke on his treasure.â
Benedict: âHe? He who? Nevermind. I can plainly say that gathering wealth is of little interest to me.â
Chance: âYou fucks have never been starving poor have you? Iâll take so long as the rich are paying.â
Felix: âWealth only goes so far. Itâs not that important in the grand scheme. It is nice in short terms though, like your lifetimes.â
Temperance is moderation of needed things and abstinence from things which are not needed. In essence it is the opposite of gluttony. Is there anything that you find you abstain from that you wish you did not?
Lloire: âAffection.â
Kârisa: âNope. Iâm not really a hold back kinda girl.â
Beta: âBolts! When the flipswitch did you get so honest with yourself? Um, Iâve kinda um failed at abstaining from things.â
Chadrick: *laughs* âGood on ye lad. Least ye nay be too pure. Me? Nay, Ah diânay wish tâ abstain from anything. Lifeâs too short tâ deny yerself whaâ ye want.â
Aasifa: âAasifaâs abs were stained once. He is breaking jar of jelly on accident. Much scrubbing.â
Benedict: âI find that it is difficult to abstain from many things. Do not give me that look Master Ashton. Yes, many things. Wha!? I mean! Well⊠yes, I suppose you could⊠The pleasures of the flesh might be the most difficult, yes!â
Chance: âYou are a laugh Benny. Snowylocks is right though. Lifeâs too short to abstain from anything âsides stupidity.â
Felix: âI abstain from killing people on a regular basis. And I donât even get a single thank you.â
Sloth is laziness and the avoidance of work. Somehow I donât see that being of much concern with this group, but what would you say is your laziest habit?
Lloire: âTeleportation. I will teleport to an Aetheryte just across the way rather than walk that same distance.â
Kârisa: âUm, I make the girls who work for me run the market errands. I really hate dealing with our vendors.â
Beta: âWell⊠a buncha stuff I guess? If I can get a piece of magitek to do it, I usually will.â
Chadrick: âAhâve had Aislyn fill out me reports a time or two with a wee bribe. Sheâs gotten really good at forginâ me signature⊠Itâs a wee bit worrisome truth be told.â
Aasifa: âAasifa sometimes is riding chocobird instead of walking.â *shameful expression*
Benedict: â⊠Never change Master Taqalid⊠even if you are strange. I have once or twice slept in past noon. This was before meeting Sunny of course.â
Chance: âLazy equals dead. Canât cut corners. Fuck that.â
Felix: âEveryone tells me that not using my hands to turn the pages when I read a book is the ultimate laziness. Iâm still not sure I believe them though.â
Thank you for taking the time out of your busy days to give some insight into your inner thoughts for our readers. I know todayâs questions were a little tougher than some of the ones before but I hope you donât begrudge me asking you. Before you go, what do you all think of me?
Lloire: âI think youâre a decent interviewer, but you have strange tastes in who you interview. I hope itâs not just us.â
Kârisa: âYouâd be a lot more handsome if you shaved that busy mustache.â
Beta: âI think youâre patient. Youâd have to be to put up with this lot.â
Chadrick: âYeâve deep pockets. More curious who ye work fer.â
Aasifa: âWho are you again?â
Benedict: âYou seem a kind soul. Youâve obvious empathy for those you question.â
Chance: âThe fuck you askinâ for?â

Honest Q&A: Round 2! Table
So I see youâre all back, ahem. Shall we begin?
What would you say is your spirit animal? Not a favorite animal, but a spirit animal.
Lloire: âThatâs the easiest question ever. A lion. Lions are known for their great strength and pride.â
Beta: âYup, prideful. Sounds right. If I had a spirit animal, I guess itâd be a monkey or something like that. Something that could use tools.â
Kârisa: âThatâs a weird question. I guess a cat?â
Felix: âA raven.â
Chadrick: âWhoâs this guy? âe wasnay âere afore⊠Anyways, spirit animal eh? Ah dinnay know. A âawk maybe?â
Aasifa: âAasifaâs spirit guide is cat. Aasifa is knowing this.â
Chance: âI want to say a Wolf. Not real big on all that though.â
Benedict: âA great big black bear. Lord Peace there was right. This one fit our favorites a bit closely.â
Everyone has a favorite food, but thatâs not always what you go for when you are upset. Do you have a comfort food?
Lloire: âIt would have to be Chicken and Mushrooms. SautĂ©ed just right, with fresh gil buns. So good. Also, just Lloire works.â
Beta: âEveryone always looks at me funny, but⊠fresh fruits.â
Kârisa: âHonestly, I think of home. So. Roasted Wellwick Worm.â
Felix: âWorm. Your answer is worm? Easy answer. Bacon.â
Chadrick: âAt least tha lass diânay pick tha most oâerrated answer on tha face oâ this star mate. Anyways, fer me itâd be Shepherdâs Pie.â
Aasifa: âAasifa is missing curry. Friend Lloire, you are knowing how to make curry?â
Chance: âBuckler Stew. Anything else and youâre wrong.â
Benedict: âI am fond of eggs, and before you say anything. No. Not Eggs Benedict, just over easy.â
Some people drink to chase away bad memories. Others fight or find someone to sleep with. Whatâs your go to when you just donât want to think about what just happened?
Lloire: âDrinâIâm lying. I go pick a fight with something bigger and meaner than myself.â
Beta: âAnd come back half dead so that the rest of us need an escape. I throw myself into my work.â
Kârisa: âI donât like to run from bad memories really, no matter how bad.â
Felix: âYou donât want to know. Oh, you do? You sure? Fine, I find someone that needs to die and I kill them.â
Chadrick: âAnâ⊠it got dark real quick, aye? Anâ whaâre ye lookinâ at me like thaâ fer Risa? It was nay all bad.â
Aasifa: âYou cannot chase bad memories silly people. Memories stay with you. Such strange thinking.â
Chance: âIâm with the oddball here. But most mercs I know like to chase away the visions of their last fights with all three. So, thereâs that.â
Benedict: âA prayer will do your soul good in those moments, though, one would not begrudge a grieving person comfort in anotherâs armsâŠ. I imagine I mean.â
What do you defend yourself with on instinct? Are you the type to rush forward with a fist? Do you always have a knife close at hand? If someone attacked us right now, what would you use?
Lloire: âOn instinct? Lightning I suppose. Fire when something really has to die, but lightning is quick and my first reflex.â
Beta: âProlly a wrench or whatever other tool I have on hand. Alexander help the idiot that startles Lloire and I at the same time. And electric wrench⊠HmmâŠâ
Kârisa: âI guess my nails? Oh! Iâd be so mad about that.â
Felix: âMy scythe or a knife.â
Chadrick: âOne oâ their weapons probably, after Ah stole it.â
Aasifa: âAasifa is likely to punch first, yes?â
Chance: âKnife. Stomach. Twist. End of fight.â
Benedict: âDear Twelve you all! They said defend! I would defend us with my staff until I could erect a shield. Twelves sake, must you all be so violent?â
Whatâs your favorite pastime when alone and when you are with others?
Lloire: âHmm, alone⊠training. With others, generally a simple drink and conversing.â
Beta: âUm, alone⊠drawing prolly. Um, with people? I donât know. Making smart comments?â
Kârisa: âI like listening to music. Alone or with people? Chad did you bring your flute?â
Felix: âRead. Read.â
Chadrick: âAlone? Well, truth be told Ahâm neâer alone, so⊠Nothing Ah suppose. Together with a bunch oâ folk, Ah like playinâ ball.â
Aasifa: âAasifa is liking to travel and see world. With others, Aasifa like to play games of chance.â
Chance: âCan I change seats? Oh, yea. Fighting. With others⊠I wonât turn down a good conversation. This doesnât count.â
Benedict: âPrayer. Most assuredly prayer. Yes. Together, discussing faith with others who do not share mine.â
 Dream vacation spot and/or activity?
Lloire: âI like camping out in the wilderness. Snowy mountains, beside a river bed, just quiet peaceful nature.â
Beta: âYou should do that more often. Might do you some good, keep you from getting any new scars. I thnk Iâd wanna visit the Steepe, learn more about Xaela culture.â
Kârisa: âSomewhere like Costa del Sol, but without the creepy little Lalafell.â
Felix: âThe moon. âŠI am being serious.â
Chadrick: âAhâve always thought about heading up tâ tha lands around Sharlayan. See tha world as me maâ say it.â
Aasifa: âThe golden saucer is Aasifaâs favorite place to spend time when the winds still. Especially when he can bring Rahya, yes?â
Chance: âVac-ation? Tch. Fine, if I have to pick. Camp Bronze Lakeâd be alright.â
Benedict: âI would spend a week in the Sanctum of the Twelve I think.â
On that note, how do you prefer to travel or get around this huge world we live in?
Lloire: âTeleportation. Itâs fastest. I havenât had as much time for sightseeing lately.â
Beta: âOn the back of a ceruleum powered magitek!â
Kârisa: âDoes nobody walk anymore?â
Felix: âWhy would they? Flying. No. Who said anything about a mount?â
Chadrick: âMe personally? âorseback. Thereâs somethinâ thaâ just feels right âbout it.â
Aasifa: âAasifa is liking walking too friend Kârisa.â
Chance: âI donât care. So long as it gets me where Iâm going on time and in one piece.â
Benedict: âI like taking the airships. Sunny gets excited and that makes it worth it.â
Do you have an element you most connect with? The world is filled with earth, and wind, and fire. The elementals are a huge focus in the Shroud. But what about with you?
Lloire: âHmm, it used to be fire, but that had more to do with some pent up emotions. Lightning seems more appropriate now.â
Beta: âDamn. Me too.â
Kârisa: âEarth or stone or whatever it is. Yanno, the ground element. I like it.â
Felix: âFire, but I donât have any unworked out âissuesâ, itâs just the best element.â
Chadrick: âTâ be âonest, water Ah suppose. Itâs essential tâ life more than most.â
Aasifa: âThe wind! Aasifa is knowing this one with all his heart, yes?â
Chance: âThe fuck kind of question is that? Fuck it, from Ishgard so Ice.â
Benedict: âI will agree with lady Kârisa. The earth is a solid, strong, and steady precence.â
What is your favorite smell? I know, kind of a strange question, but it comes up more than youâd think.
Lloire: âVanilla. For lots of reasons.â
Beta: âThe forge!â
Kârisa: âForest rains.â
Felix: âMeat cooking on the fire.â
Chadrick: âThaâ⊠is a way more normal answer than I expected oâ ye lad. Fer me, Ahâd say a light perfume smell. Thaâ floral kind, aye?â
Aasifa: âFavorite smell? Aasifa is never thinking of this. Hmm. Curry?â
Chance: âCampfires.â
Benedict: âI am quite fond of the smells of books and incense.â
 How do you smell?
Lloire: âSomeone told me once I smelled of black pepper and the sea.â
Beta: âUh⊠like I need a shower? I dunno? Weird question.â
Kârisa: âNot like flowers.â
Felix: âNext question.â
Chadrick: âAye, he smells a wee bit like blood from âere. Anyways, Ahâve been told Ah smell like fresh rain.â
Aasifa: âHey! This is like what friend Kârisa is liking!â *collective moan around the table* âAaisfa is smelling like the wind I am thinking.â
Chance: âLike burning wood and new snow.â
Benedict: âI have no worldly idea? Iâll have to ask Sunny.â
 Who is your best friend?
Lloire: âCanât choose. Soren and Yuti are my closest friends that I donât necessarily call family and I could not choose between them.â
Beta: âIf I canât pick Ikara, thereâs this guy I call Fusion. Heâs pretty cool.â
Kârisa: âJâahama and Pâarunru I guess.â
Felix: âJoe.â
Chadrick: âYer joking, right? Yer some kinda scary lookinâ bloke whaâ kills people when âeâs âad a bad day anâ yer best friend is named Joe? Yer âaving a laugh.â *shakes head* âMineâs Aislyn, though Jesabel is right up there.â
Aasifa: âAasifa is not choosing. This would be rude thing. You are all friends.â
Chance: âHelfyre.â
Benedict: âI sincerely hope that is a nickname ser. Sunny is my best friend, yes she is. â
If you had to settle down, what career would you pick?
Lloire: âIâd open my own restaurant and cook.â
Beta: âI wanna work for the Ironworks company.â
Kârisa: âSettling down is what I want to do. I want to be a seamstress.â
Felix: âIn the never happening chance that I did, a librarian.â
Chadrick: âFeck⊠erm⊠Ah suppose a writer.â
Aasifa: âThis is not option for Aasifa, a thousand apologies.â
Chance: âPsh. Retired.â
Benedict: âI would like to have my own temple dedicated to the Twelve and hold sermons.â
How do you want to die?
Lloire: âHaving left my mark on the world, old, and wise.â
Beta: âGood luck. Um⊠but yea, old but not too old I guess. More likely in an accident though.â
Kârisa: âMorbid. I donât wanna. Not gonna think about it!â
Felix: âHahahahahahahahaha.â
Chadrick: ââeâs⊠âeâs nay goinâ tâ answer, is âe? Fer me, in Glory! Me name remembered fer ages tâ come.â
Aasifa: âWith sword in hand, yes? Fighting untiil the end.â
Chance: âGrizzled, old, and with plenty of coin left to those I care about?â
Benedict: âSurrounded by friends and family praying for me.â
If you only had a day left to live and can only do one thing before you die, what would it be and why?
Lloire: âI would⊠re-affirm my vows.â
Beta: âIâd take Ikara somewhere sheâs never been before.â
Kârisa: âIâd probably go home and talk to mom.â
Felix: âSpend the entirety of it finding a solution.â
Chadrick: âAhâm nay goinâ tâ lie tâ ye all. Yers all sound sweet anâ sappy anâ thaâs nice. Ahâd spend tha whole day in bed.â
Aasifa: âAasifa would spend the day in laughter, with friends and Rahya and live life to fullest. Eat, drink, and be much merry.â
Chance: âIâm dying on my feet, sword in hand, surrounded by enemies.â
Benedict: âI would visit the marks of the Twelve and offer prayers to each.â
What do you imagine the future to be like?
Lloire: âFilled with magicks. The age of enlightenment. The Garlean Empire, crushed.â
Beta: âUm, I actually see us making a lot of technological advances. Even beyond magitek.â
Kârisa: âProbably just like it is now.â
Felix: âI let you know what itâs like when I get there.â
Chadrick: âShyte, Ah diânay know. Ahâm no mind reader. Ah hope the worldâs still full oâ adventure and new things tâ discover though.â
Aasifa: âCold, Aasifa is thinking.â
Chance: âFuck would I know? Thereâll be people, so thereâll be wars.â
Benedict: âOnly the Twelve can say.â
