AWC - Naming System

(A(aron's)WC is a placeholder name for my asc, tbc, and avos rewrite)

So... I... maybe... sort of... hate the Warrior Cats naming system...?

Don't get me wrong; very pretty prefixes and suffixes come out of that, but... The thing is... I want the naming system to make... I dunno, sense?

Like, for example; Myrtlebloom... why was she called Myrtlebloom. What is the reason? Is it the symbolism? I don't know... She doesn't really scream love, beauty, and loyalty to me.

The color? But she's pale-brown, not the pretty vanilla-looking color the flower has.

Ok. What about, Sorrelstripe, her mom. What's so sorrel-y about her? She looks nothing like the herb, and it just doesn't describe her personality whatsoever. Stripe has to make sense, right? She probably just has a single stripe-

oh.

So... You are telling me... that she was named Sorrelstripe... when she doesn't even have one. Single. Stripe.

I can excuse the Sorrel- part of the name---but if you make her suffix -stripe, even when she doesn't have one...

Yeah, that's when you really need to fix something about the naming system.

How would you fix the naming system?

So... The prefix & suffix thing; yeah, I'm keeping that. But what I really want to fix is......

The meaning behind the names!

So, for example; Frostfur. Very easy to pinpoint this, she was named after her white pelt and her gray-blue colorpoint markings.

Hollowflight is a more... complicated one. You see, Hollow- is actually a very insulting prefix. If a cat names you Hollow(-suffix), they are basically describing you to be a cat with no personality, no brain/mind, or etc etc. So it is very, rarely ever used as a prefix.

I have a story for Hollowflight soon, but I will discuss more about him when I decide to rewrite the entirety of warriors.

Anyways, this means that Hollowspring will be renamed to Sparrow- (because of his brown-tabby pelt) -leap (because of his powerful leaps and jumps)

Good? Good. We now know how the naming system works in my rewrite... simplified...

A more detailed explanation will be posted soon! But for now let's work with this. :D

WHY DID I DECIDE TO CREATE THIS?

I made this blog plus rewrite, because I hate A Starless Clan. I could go on and on about how this is the worst arc in the entirety of Warriors. But, that is for other posts where I ramble about the flaws about the story, the protagonists, villains, characters, how poorly character arcs were treated, etc.

This means I will be scrapping a lot of stuff entirely (e.g. Nightheart's horrible character arc, Lightleap and Blazefire becoming a couple, Sunbeam and Nightheart becoming a couple, Rowankit dying from the greencough outbreak, instead it will be Pouncestep, etc.).

I will try my best to fix it, removing the misogyny and offensive indigenous stereotypes (please go read this google doc for more information about the last part.)

I will also be adding new roles! (some inspired by other rewrites!)

I'm Rewriting the Rewrite

You heard that right, I am rewriting Mask of Lies! It was very poorly written and the plot, story, worldbuilding, etc. wasn't correctly planned out.

So, I'm rewriting the rewrite! Instead of writing the first book (lost stars), I will be rewriting Tigerheart's Shadow!

I will be taking EVERY ASPECT of my ASC Rewrite and shoving them all into this weird mess, because my ASC Rewrite is a sequel of Mask of Lies!

FAQ

Why did you change the name?

Because I thought 'The Broken Code' made no sense. Sure, the warrior code is a broken code, but they don't even realize that until the end of the arc!

Besides, the code BARELY CHANGED. The only two rules that were interesting enough to stand out were; voting a leader in or out, or forbidden relationships being allowed just as long as one of them changes to their s/o's clan.

Do you wanna know why 'Mask of Lies' makes more sense? Because someone is wearing a mask (the imposter) of LIES PEOPLE! While sure, a bit more on-the-nose, it still makes more sense than

The Broken Code.

TBC Rewrite: How did Ashfur obtain such powerful abilities?

Now, we all know Ashfur is the villain of The Broken Code, though, if you have read TBC... You may be wondering, how exactly did Ashfur get all these powers out of nowhere?

Ashfur is obviously the villain of Mask of Lies, he's the villain of The original TBC after all. But one thing that confused me when reading ALitM, as well as the rest of the broken code, was how the fuck did Ashfur get all of that power?

Well... We basically had no explanation. The erins just expect us to accept that Ashfur just somehow got Firestar to trust him with these op abilities that he somehow earned.

well... I added some strange lore.

There is something way powerful than StarClan that are the ones creating the prophecies! We know StarClan weren't the ones who created them, as it has been mentioned that they... Well, haven't, in several books, mind you.

There is something more powerful, and they are corrupt.

The moon :)

Now, before you ask, please read two reasons why I think the moon would be the controller of StarClan.

The moon, obviously, is bigger than the stars.

The moon is very essential to earth, what the hell do stars do?

And no, obviously the sun doesn't count as StarClan. Many cats have stated and the BOOKS have stated that the stars that are StarClan are just normal stars around the night sky.

Cats like Thunderstar, Riverstar, etc. Are part of the moon in my rewrite, as they are the cats who created the clans. (Before you ask, Skystar wasn't assigned to be part of the Moon, because he generally wasn't trusted for that position after all of the crimes he had done.)

StarClan has NO idea about the Moon, by the way! It is, after all, a secret afterlife that must be kept hidden.

But, enough rambling, as this is a post explaining how Ashfur got his powers. (A post about the moon will be posted soon, as I'd really like to share how they work cuz I just really liked this idea.)

Ashfur had heard from rumors that cats who were worthy had gained 0.008% powers from the secret afterlife that had given prophecies. So he went out to search for cats who had gained some of those powers.

After a while, he was able to find a bitter cat who held a grudge against StarClan for an unknown reason, though had been here for around ten decades, though only gained half of the percentage of the mysterious powers.

Because of this, Ashfur used the cat to his advantage :)

By promising the cat something that had seemed impossible.

So, the powers used in my rewrite are not controlled by Ashfur, though controlled by a mysterious cat.

So, the cat was able to take Bramblestar's ghost, and replace it with Ashfur's!
