You can’t be against AAPI hate and then ignore our voices and do problematic shit in cosplay.
Cosplayers need to analyze how certain things and “trends” can be problematic towards AAPI

YOUTUBE NEWS
Today’s info wrap has a pair from RK Outpost, as well as contributions from The Quartering, Geeks & Gamers, Yellowflash, and ThatStarWarsGirl
Ryan at RK Outpost discusses how Disney’s FB post about the AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islanders) is a virtue signaling fail, and the hypocriscy they display in their support for China. While this one doesn’t deal much with Gina directly, it gives you an idea of the double standards the company is continuing to display, as well as brings attention to the fact that more and more people are beginning to take notice, and voice their displeasure. He doesn’t discuss it, but you can see my favorite comment someone made in response to it. “How much Coca Cola was in the room when this was written?”

RK Outpost also goes over the hilariously massive backlash (and ratio-ing) of the videos on the YT Star Wars page, as people are using it to again voice their displeasure in the decision to terminate Gina. If you haven’t seen how bad the numbers are, take a peek for a good laugh.

Jeremy at Geeks & Gamers also goes over the ratio and backlash that they’re facing on the Star Wars page.

Anna TSWG discusses the revelation that the push to get Gina fired was actually a coordinated attack. This video was actually released yesterday, but it’s still well worth watching.

The OTHER Jeremy over at The Quartering takes a look at how Gina’s curse strikes again!

VIDEO/PHOTOS/ART
As the pushback continues, people continue to share photos, videos, and fanart of Gina/Cara as a way to show support. I’m gonna start including those for anyone who may be interested.
This GORGEOUS piece of Fan Art was created by Sxeven ART:
I couldn’t resist adding this. Tumblr user and badass Cara Dune cosplayer toughasdune has begun a series on Tik Tok that features “Momma Cara” and Grogu. This is adorable, and I hope to see more. Remember to respect the creator toughasdune. In this case reblogging is fine, but NO REPOSTING!
Check Out Part One https://toughasdune.tumblr.com/post/643894246916734976/cara-dune-has-finally-landed-on-my-tiktok-this-is
Echo Base Network has put together a GORGEOUS video that basically sums up the true Star Wars fans feelings about the franchise. I put this here, because it’s not a reaction channel I normally follow, but the “message” they put together needs to be seen. #BeforeTheDarkTimes

FROM THE EDITOR
You guys are probably going to laugh at how creative these are going to get this week. I was diagnosed with Ulner Tunnel Syndrome (just like Carpal Tunnel, only it just effects the ring and pinky finger) in my left hand yesterday morning and have been put on leave until next Monday, as my job does not have anything I can do that is “Right Hand Only”.
I’ve already given them a name....who knows whatelse I’ll come up with 😏

To anti-SJWs/conservatives harassing black artists drawing anime characters black or cosplay as anime characters.
Firstly, Afro-Asians exist. Black and biracial people exist in Japan. They’re often called “hafus”. Look up Naomi Osaka, Ariana Miyamoto, Crystal Kay or Jhene Aiko, etc. Erasing their half-black, half-Japanese identities as some “SJW” thing is highly ignorant.
Secondly, yes, most anime characters are non-black Asian people. But do they LOOK ASIAN? That lies the problem. Japan and other East Asian countries suffer colorism and Eurocentric beauty standards. These self-hating standards is why many anime characters look more white than Asian. White-looking Asians don’t bother you but black-looking Asians do? It’s not even black features that trigger you. If an artist draws an anime character dark-skin in general makes you go violent; ignoring the fact dark skin East Asian people exist.
Thirdly, what happens to “freedom of expression” you anti-SJW types preach about? Black artists and cosplayers should have that same benefit of the doubt, even if you don’t like it.
Spreading awareness of the AAPI hate crimes is a better use of helping Asian people than sending death threats and racial slurs to black fanartists and cosplayers.
