I really dig your Book 4 plans, especially the Aang part where he ends up with an Air Acolyte. It’s a very interesting concept. Do you have any ideas/headcanons about her?
Hello anon!
I do have some headcanons:
•The Air Acolyte’s name would be Meilin and she would be from the Earth Kingdom.
•Her older brother was killed when the Fire Nation raided her village. It was a violent death that severely traumatized her and made her hate the Fire Nation with a burning passion. She felt a little better however when her village managed to keep their village out of Fire Nation control through Earthbending ambushes on Fire Nation soldiers.
•Meilin is an earthbender and thus is very stubborn, headstrong, enduring, and fierce. She still retains those traits even though she chose to adopt the Air Nomad culture.
•She chose to adopt the Air Nomad culture because it gave her so much peace and helped her heal from the trauma that she endured during the war. The Air Nomad philosophy really resonated with her.
•Meilin meets Aang along with many other Air Acolytes, but unlike the others, she doesn’t fawn over him and act like he’s perfect. She is deeply grateful to him for saving the world and admires him but she does not idealize him.
•Meilin catches Aang’s attention because unlike the other acolytes she does not blindly agree with everything he says, she challenges him, and he likes it.
•Meilin and Aang interact as equals instead of as a fangirl and the avatar. They get to know each other as friends and Aang finds that he loves spending time with her, as she loves spending time with him. Meilin truly likes Aang for who he is and not because he is the avatar. Aang also does not idealize her like he did with Katara, he knows who she is completely, with all her good traits and flaws, and still falls for her, as she does for him.
•Meilin and Aang officially get together and she is officially introduced to the rest of Team Avatar, who all really like her. Katara is so thrilled that Aang has found someone who truly makes him happy and who he is compatible with.
So those are my current headcanons about Meilin, the Air Acolyte who captures Aang’s heart. I hope you like them!
Thanks for the ask!

What if Ozai actually loved his family?
This could extend to Iroh and Lu Ten and Azulon, but what I mean by this is that he truly loves Ursa (as this is highly debated in canon), Zuko, and Azula. The no strings attached love that children deserve. Buckle up because this is gonna get long and need a cut.
Aang might not win in this universe.
It would start with Zuko’s birth. He has no spark but Ozai has never held something so small that had his eyes. His wife lays exhausted on her bed. Zuko does not almost die that night. He was lucky to be born, yes, but it is said with love rather than scorn.
Two years later, Azula is born and he finds himself loving her just as much as her brother, even if she has a spark he doesn’t. Ursa is severely weakened after the birth and he decides not to try for more children— he loves the ones he has and he wouldn’t want to lose his wife.
Outside the Fire Nation, his brother burns down swathes Earth Kingdom. This Ozai isn’t a good person, he proposes ruthless plans in the war room, just as he would in canon, he laughs as his brother dreams of the day he burns Ba Sing Se.
The only difference is that he loves his family. His son almost dies and he saves him. He thanks the spirits that he was a strong swimmer and makes the point to train his son in swimming for the rest of their time on Ember Island. The current is dangerous, and it is even more dangerous for a weak swimmer.
Azula is a prodigy in firebending. Zuko is not. He makes a point to show them the same amount of love (because he does love them both). He reinforces Ursa’s teaching of empathy, not counteracting it like he might’ve in another universe. Azula begins to tell her brother all her tricks, things that come so naturally to her that her brother doesn’t realize.
He is nowhere near a prodigy like her, but he’s only a few sets behind her at any given time, and he’s leagues better than he would be at the same point in canon. Ursa sits with him and they watch their children fondly— they have a bond no one could break now, able to share thoughts without words. One day, they will be an unbeatable team. Now they’re just children, practicing together, playing together.
The turtleducks in the pond hound both children when they walk by, knowing only soft hands and small pieces of bread.
Azula is a firebending prodigy, but Ozai watches his son carefully. He sees the light touch of his feet, the quick reflexes when he almost knocks a vase off a shelf, the way he watched with wide eyes as they happened upon two guards sparring while not on duty.
Ozai calls for the best swordsmaster he can, housing Master Piandao of Shu Jing in the palace. Piandao’s assignment is to teach two children, after all. It wouldn’t do to send both his children away for so long. (He would miss them, as would Ursa.)
Azula is a prodigy firebender, Zuko is a prodigy swordsman. He picks up any style Piandao tries to teach him with ease, eventually settling on the dual dao as his favourite. Azula picks twin daggers.
Their weapons are two halves of the same whole, just as Zuko and Azula are. Zuko tells his sister all his tricks, all the things about sword fighting that come naturally to him that she doesn’t realize.
The Seige of Ba Sing Se beings. The family write letters to Iroh and Lu Ten often. Iroh sends a doll for Azula and a dagger for Zuko.
(“It’s okay, Lala. Obviously he couldn’t find any twin daggers there. It wouldn’t be right for you to wield just one dagger.”)
The doll doesn’t burn, though it lays in a chest, collecting dust. Zuko’s dagger is used to open each subsequent letter, though it has little other use. He has his dao for fighting, and Azula has a collection of far better daggers that she would let him use if he asked.
(Mai tells Azula (who is a bit softer around the edges than she could’ve been, though her teeth remain sharp) of her slight crush on her brother. She just pushes them together like any other child would and laughs at their blushing cheeks.)
Ozai and Ursa watch their children, hand in hand as they walk together. Neither of them have a reason to be disappointed in their children or in each other.
Lu Ten dies. Azula’s voice is cold as she proclaims that her uncle should have burnt Ba Sing Se to the ground.
This time, everyone recognizes the words for what they are. Ursa holds her daughter and soothes her as Zuko collapses into his father’s arms.
(A doll is pulled from a dusty chest and held to a girl’s chest.)
Ozai kneels before his father and says he would make a better Fire Lord than his brother. He may love his family, but he still wants power and his words are logical.
This time, his punishment sounds like a punishment and not a boon.
(“Grandfather ordered dad to kill you.”
“Dad wouldn’t do that.”
“I know.”
The siblings spend the night huddled into the same bed anyway.)
Morning comes and Fire Lord Azulon is found dead in his bed. Prince Ozai and Princess Ursa are taking breakfast with their children when they find out. They are the picture of calm.
They are a family and they love each other. Ozai would not let Azulon break them apart, even if it meant committing parricide with his wife’s aid.
Prince Ozai becomes Fire Lord Ozai. Princess Ursa becomes Fire Lady Ursa. Prince Zuko becomes Crown Prince Zuko and Princess Azula is his closest confidant as she always is. Everyone knows the Fire Lord’s Chief Advisor is nearly as powerful as the Fire Lord themselves anyway.
The war in the Earth Kingdom continues. General Iroh returns as a changed man, yet finds solace in the fact that half of his family is healthy and whole.
Two years pass with Zuko as the Crown Prince. He is known as a formidable firebender (though still weaker than his sister. He was the first person she showed her new, blue flame to) and a master swordsman. He cannot lie to save his life, but he has a charisma that he clearly got from his father. His father looks at him and sees the greatest Fire Lord the Fire Nation will ever have, even if he still has a lot to learn. This is his son.
Two years pass with Azula as his best friend (as if the nine years before hadn’t been the exact same). She is known as a master firebender, though few know of her skill with a blade. Lies fall through her lips as easily as any other word. Her father looks at her and see’s the actress her mother once was (still is) and pride surges in his chest. This is his daughter.
Iroh brings Zuko into a war meeting. Zuko speaks up against a plan he finds despicable. He is more confident now, his words more eloquent, but he has the same conviction and tendency to speak without considering the consequences of his actions.
The Fire Lord hears not disrespect in his son’s words, but the voice of his people. Ozai is not an idiot, and loving his son is all it takes for him to listen a little deeper. He knew of his people’s growing discontent with the war, but he didn’t care until their words find their way through his son’s lips.
Ozai forbids the plan. His brother (for he was once the Dragon of the West, for he still is and Ozai should do well to remember as such) suggests a plan that would cost less lives and only a little more time. It is an acceptable exchange.
Zuko walks out of the war room, his head held high. His face remains unblemished.
His mother scolds him and punished him, for he was still disrespectful and the general would’ve been within his right to challenge him to an Agni Kai.
(“I could beat him.”
“Of course you could, I taught you. But mom’s right, it’s a stupid risk to take, Zuzu.”)
The forty-first finds themselves passing a letter between them that speaks of a prince speaking up to save them from a general. Loyalty to the royal family is cemented in this one group of soldiers, barely more than recruits.
Azula finds herself thankful for Piandao’s calligraphy lessons. The small glass vials, prepared with her mother’s careful tutelage remain hidden in her room.
Part of being the Fire Lord’s Chief Advisor is keeping him safe from his own stupidity.
Ozai takes the time to teach his son to hold his tongue. It is a lesson taught not with pain and fire, but that was a mode of teaching he would’ve never considered. He loves his son.
Years pass and the siblings flourish. Zuko begins to officially court Mai and deals with his sister’s incessant teasing. He knows he has her to thank for their relationship anyway.
He could’ve done without his father’s attempts to give him the Talk though. He sat in horrified silence for nearly ten minutes of pure awkwardness on both sides before he managed to squeak out that his mother already gave him that conversation.
Both father and son are quick to flee from each other.
Zuko is fifteen and Azula is thirteen as they begin their journey in learning lightning. Azula does not pick it up nearly as quickly as most firebending and finds it a thrilling challenge. Zuko finds himself pulled away by his uncle and taught to redirect lightning.
Why Iroh ever thought he wouldn’t share it with his sister, he didn’t know.
Zuko is sixteen when he manages his first bolt of lightning, his sister having almost perfected the art.
Zuko is sixteen when news comes from Commander Zhao that the Avatar has been spotted in the viscosity of Kyoshi Island, wearing the tattoos of an airbending monk.
Zuko is sixteen, face unblemished, head full of hair pulled carefully back into a top knot when he approaches the Fire Lord and Lady (his father, his mother) and requests to hunt down the Avatar.
His sister is only a half step behind him, for what is the future Fire Lord without his Chief Advisor?
(What is the Fire Lord without his heirs? Ozai thinks. What is a father without his children?)

I loved your kya’s daughter hcs! Could you maybe elaborate more on her relationship with iroh 2?
a/n: this is more of like, background hc’s about how they meet and end up together but if you guys want me to actually write a piece about them let me know!
*based off of these hc’s
Tumblr media
Kya first sent you to start training with Lord Zuko when you were five. Being a water bender, she could only keep up with your bending for so long before she had to get you a proper instructor
Training you was quite a challenge for Zuko due to the fact that already your bending had begun to take on a unique form. There were no fire bending techniques at all in your bending, but rather water and air, so it would take some time for him to get your bending on track and in control
Because of this, he offered to have you and your mother stay at the palace while you completed your training
And that’s how you soon became introduced to his grandson Iroh
There wasn’t any attraction when you first met, what with you being five and Iroh already being eleven and a half at that point. But he was always so kind to you and took you to the best parts of the palace to play
He also helped with your training, practicing with you and showing you all that he knew. If a session was particularly rougher than usual he would always make sure to patch you up and reward your efforts with a treat that he may or may not have swiped from the kitchen
He became a friend and somewhat of a protector to you, and you’d be lying if you said you hadn’t developed a silly little childhood crush on him. He was very handsome after all and strong, but it was purely innocent and part of your adolescence
You spend five years training with Zuko and alongside Iroh. By the end of it you’re one of the strongest benders he’s ever encountered. The different bending forms paired with your strength and agility make you a worthy opponent, and there were a handful of times where you even bested his grandson during your sparring sessions
However, now that you’ve completed your bending it’s time to return home before continuing your travels around the world with your mother
You make sure to give Zuko a big hug, thanking him for all that he’s done for you and expressing your gratitude for training you
Saying goodbye to Iroh is a little harder. You’ve gotten so used to being around him that it’s going to be difficult adjusting to his absence, but he assures you he will always be there if you need him and that you’re always welcome to come back and visit him. You depart with a hug and a promise to see each other again soon
Traveling the world makes it easier to forget how much you miss the Prince, and you actually date a few other men (and women if you’re interested) while you’re abroad.
You stay out a bit longer than Kya does, but at the age of twenty five you decide it’s time to return home and join your mother and your Gran Gran in the south
It’s nice to see your family again and have the support you’ve been missing while away, though you feel somewhat out of sorts being a fire bender living in the southern water tribe. It takes some adjusting
Eventually Uncle Bumi comes by for a quick visit which you are absolutely thrilled about because you love your Uncle Bumi! He’s making a stop during his journey to the Fire Nation to meet up with Iroh to discuss some important General stuff
He invites you to come along with him for a fun trip and after making sure your mother and Gran Gran will be okay you accept the offer
You have to admit you’re a bit nervous about seeing him again, you were both kids still the last time you’d been together and you’re not sure what to expect now
The long awaited reunion is very exciting though very emotional after being away from your childhood friend for so long. Spirits, he’s even more handsome now, and that little childhood crush easily manages to sneak back in now that you’re together again
“Y/n! I almost didn’t recognize you,” Iroh smiles, pulling you in for a very tight hug. You’ve blossomed into a very beautiful woman, now all grown up and living your own life of adventure, and he couldn’t ignore the fact that your beauty nearly made him breathless
You both find yourselves spending much of your time together, walking through the palace gardens or out in the market place. You make a handsome pair, something Bumi, Zuko, and Izumi all notice right away
It’s under the moonlight by the fountain that you share your first kiss. You can’t deny the attraction any longer, you’ve fallen in love with your childhood playmate
You spend a year together before Iroh decides he’s ready to propose. He does make sure to get the blessings of Kya, Katara, Bumi, and Tenzin before proceeding because he knows how important they are to you
Though you’re a fire bender you grew up with water tribe culture, so Kya and Katara do help him craft the perfect betrothal necklace for you
The wedding is intimate and simple, held at the palace and officiated by Fire Lord Izumi where all your friends and family come to watch
Zuko and Katara are thrilled at the fact that their grandchildren are married, and Katara can’t help but wish Aang were there to see
By the time of Book 1 Iroh is 36 and you’re 29. You’ve been married for about three years and have a beautiful one year old daughter named Tara, a reference to your grandmother’s own name
By the end of Book 3 I imagine you’d be expecting again, and though your Uncle is desperately hoping for a Bumi the third, you end up giving birth to another beautiful girl whom you name Azula, in honor of the great aunt Iroh never really got to know. Perhaps having a daughter named after Zuko’s estranged sister will bring a new hope and light to the name
It took you both a while to find each other and for the time to be right for you to actually end up together, but Iroh knows he would have waited a whole lifetime if it meant you’d be his wife by the end of it. Neither of you ever expected to fall for your childhood companion, but you wouldn’t have it any other way

11... :)
What would be your idea post-war occupations for each member of the Gaang?
Aang: He's the Avatar, and that is pretty much of an occupation in and on it's own (which involves a lot of travelling and shaking hands). Anyhow, he loves taking little day/ jobs in the towns and villages he is staying in or passing through. On one hand because he loves trying new things, on the other because it is a great way to get to talk to and know the people among the nations. Also, he actually does have a jewellery business on the side (it is more of a hobby, really, but he is dedicated, and his kids later help him. he gives them away for donations that go to a fund for victims of the war).
Katara: Honestly, I can see Katara doing a lot. She obviously could be moving things on the political stage as a diplomat (she does have the vision, skill and determination for sure), or she could be doing more groundwork establishing hospitals and educating new healers for them, for example. Or she could just travel around the world, finding and teaching new water benders everywhere. Or she could do all. She is Katara after all (oh, and she is managing Aang`s jewellery business and especially makes sure the money always ends up somewhere it is needed).
Sokka: I think Sokka would make the classical inventor/explorer/scientist. Like, he would climb around in a fire nation mountain range to find a certain fluorescent lizard, discover three new plants on the way, create a new, more detailed map and finally stumble upon something that inspires a new invention of his. He also writes books that become instant classics and gives lectures from time to time, but not for the money. only because he finally gets to follow his interest just for the sake of them and loves to share that with others.
Suki:  I know it might not be an official occupation but Suki goes out and hunts war criminals to bring them to court & justice together with her Kyoshi Warriors (cause only justice will bring peace. duh). they are the reason no former general or admiral can sleep at night. obviously, Katara is always welcome to help. Also at one point, Jeong Jeong gets involved somehow (he just wants to hunt ex-military members but ends up bring really impressed by Suki, her skill, determination and qualities as a leader. which leads to him recruiting her for the white lotus at one point). When she need a break, she goes rock climbing and lizard searching with Sokka.
Toph: Toph opens a school for earth and metal bending. She is said to be kind of picky with her students, but everyone knows that their gates are always open for kids who want to learn and/or have nowhere else to go (part of the school is a place where they can stay. she never asks questions. the police tried to enter the grounds of her school one (1) time. all officers involved quit afterwards.) Also, she picks up pro wrestling again (on the side and the just for the thrill of it). Her students always come to cheer for her. The found a fan club at one point.
Zuko: Yes, ruling a nation is a full time job. But he still writes, mostly theatre plays. at least twice a year, he also stars in one of them (always just as a side character because...time, but he still enjoys it a lot, and of course all his friends come to watch. Anyhow, among the people it is known that “the firelord himself” sometimes appears on the ember island stage, but it is never officially announced when. which is a great way to always keep the audience on the edge of their seat, with no regard to the actual plot). The most over the top play he ever wrote was a version of “love amongst dragons” where he inserted all of his friends as characters. Aang cried when it was performed.

Limerence [M] ︳08
Tumblr media
Pairing: Zuko x OC
Genre: Romance, mainly fluff with future smut, and if you squint hard enough - you’ll find some angst.
Rating: SFW
Words: 4100+
Notes: AHH - so this is by far one of my favourite chapters. Realistically, I’m well aware that there are plenty of well-written chapters, far better than this one, especially when I reflect on my newer writing. But this is the first chapter where my inner thirst slightly peaked through and I knew - I had to write smut in the near future. It’s also the chapter in which the plot thickens...I hope you enjoy loves <3

Limerence: (English/n.) the state of being infatuated with another person.
The moment their eyes locked they knew - the flames within him twisted while the water within her turned. It was a connection, a connection that would lead to love, adventure, and drama.

Sphallolalia
(Greek/n.) Flirtatious talk that leads nowhere.
~ Ying Yue Jiang ~
The hot water felt pleasing against my skin, as my muscles relaxed and all of the excitement from the day seemed to melt away. The room was steamy, and I could barely see Suki and Toph who sat across from Katara and me. Suki and Katara sipped away on their glasses of wine, along with me, while Toph sat at the edge of natural hot spring, a beer in hand. We drunkenly giggled away as we gossiped amongst ourselves. Only the dim lights from the candles lit the room, as well as whatever light the stars cast through the glass walls and ceiling. It was a beautiful room and a perfect way to end one hell of a day.
Katara lazily rested her head upon my shoulder, “I'm sorry for everything…” she whispered once again for the hundredth time this day. I rested my head upon hers, “Don’t worry. I know you meant well. Everything worked out in the end, right?” It was true; everything did seem to work out in the end, although that statement did seem to undermine the number of things that suddenly had to be done. The moment I accepted my Imperial Consort Seal it set in motion an entire list of tasks and responsibilities.
Right away Zuko sent a hawk back to the Fire Nation, with word to prepare a celebration for our arrival. He explained to me that it was a tradition to celebrate, but especially so in this case since it was unexpected and it served as a relief for the council. But, I was more eager to tell the gang of the news, but in the end, I ended up being the surprised one. It turned out that this was something Zuko had talked over with everyone, so it wasn’t much of surprise as it was for me. Regardless, everyone was ecstatic that I agreed, as there was a consensus that it was the only way for us to move forward with our relationship, whatever that relationship was.
Although, the real treat was finally reconnecting with Katara. After a magnitude of apologies, we ended up hugging everything out. And thankfully, she was happy knowing that Zuko and I managed to figure something out. So glad, that she insisted on a spontaneous girls night to celebrate, which lead us to where we were now. A bit tipsy and relaxing in the hot springs late at night. The best way to end a day…
“How do you think Dad will be once I leave?” I asked Katara. She lifted her head off my shoulder and smiled, “He will be fine. A little sad to see you go, but I'm staying behind, remember? I'll keep an eye out for him.” I smiled and let my free hand play with the water, taking in the warmth. It was bizarre to think that this will be some of the few moments I'll have here, in the Southern Water Tribe. Yet, the thought of venturing out was thrilling; I would finally be free, and experience things I only dreamed. But more importantly, I would be with Zuko. Gosh, I'm such a romantic.
“So Fire Nation Royalty, have you two consummated yet?” Suki said with a giggle. I was certain I looked completely bugged eyed as I almost spat out my wine. Toph burst out laughing, hearing me cough as I choked. “Suki!” I cried out, flushed. “I just said we aren’t dating, let alone doing that!” Toph snorted, “You don’t need to be in a relationship to do that, Princess.” Toph said so matter of factly that I could feel my mouth drop. Suki giggled and gave me a look, a look that meant that we all drank a little too much, well at least these three ladies.
I could feel myself shrink farther and farther into the water, wondering how we always managed to make it to the topic of sex, or anything related to that field. I could see Katara also blushing madly, “Gosh, shouldn’t that stuff remain private.” Katara muttered as she sipped away on her wine. I giggled; Katara indeed was the definition of a prune. Although I wasn’t as laxed as Suki or Toph, I wasn’t naïve. How could I be a naïve liking Zuko? Just remembering the playful banter between us two caused me to smile, but the way his fingers delicately danced on the skin of my neck…
“So you are telling me, that you never wondered, not even a tiny bit, about how the guys are in bed?” Suki questioned Katara. I snapped myself awake; I'm thinking a bit too much about Zuko’s fingers. Katara shook her head, “N-no! You nasties, one of them is my brother, and I'm dating the other!” Katara said quickly.
“Hello, you still got Zuko!” Suki retorted back.
Katara was the one who looked bugged eyed this time, “My sister likes him, I can’t fantasize about him!” I giggled, and playfully bumped in Katara’s shoulders, “Don’t worry I'll tell you how he is for you.” I said kittenishly. Suki burst out laughing, along with Toph, proud that I was partaking in this conversation, the wine has officially taken over. “Told you so, give it like, three days tops, and you’ll find the information you need Katara,” Toph said between fits of laughter. Katara groaned loudly and took another large gulp of wine. “What do you mean three days tops?”
Suki rolled her eyes, “Come on; even Katara can tell that it just a matter of time.” I blushed, but before anything more could be said, we were distracted by the sound of a door opening and closing shut. Aang waltzed into the room, and quickly started to bend the steam away from himself, “You guys seem to be enjoying yourself.” He started as he watched us giggle away like a bunch of children. “What’s got you girls all giggly?” Aang asked, curious.
Within seconds Katara stood up, although it was clear she was struggling to keep herself balanced. “Absolutely nothing interesting.” She said quickly, a bit too quickly. Aang raised a brow and walked towards Katara, holding her steady. Suki rolled her eyes and took a small sip from her wine, “I thought it was interesting…I think he will be rough.” Suki said with a very obvious wink towards me. I could see Aang stiffen as his face redden, and not from the steam in the room, “Rough?” Aang repeated hesitantly. It turns out Katara isn’t the only prune here. Katara blushed and gripped her head tightly, “I think we drank a bit too much…” She groaned.
Aang helped Katara out of the hot spring, and with one swift motion, pushed all the steam aside to one corner of the room, “Sorry to be the party pooper, but I’m pretty sure being drunk and near water screams for trouble.” He said as he helped Katara dry off and wrap a towel around her. Here comes Dad mode; in three…two…one…
“Suki, I'm going to get Sokka to help you. Yue, I'm getting Zuko. And Toph stay put, I'll come after I put Katara in bed.” Toph waved her hand, dismissing Aang’s orders, and stood up. She wrapped a towel around her shoulders as she reached over to grab one last beer, “I'm fine, it's these lightweights here that are going to need the help.” With that, she walked out the door, off to her bedroom most likely. I swear this girl could drink a barrel and be unfazed.
Quickly, I stood up and grabbed my towel, “Don’t worry Aang, I'm fine!” I said hastily. The last thing I wanted was Zuko to come and see me in my bathing suit. Any other day I couldn’t care less, but after that conversation, I prefer to save myself the embarrassment. Aang looked over me hesitantly, before nodding his head in defeat and dashing out the door with Katara.
I looked over to see Suki was also out the water and drying herself off, “I'm not drunk.” Suki grumbled under her breath. I laughed and began walking towards the door, “You know Aang…” I said as I opened the door. Suki huffed and trailed behind me, “I swear, between Aang and Katara, who needs parents?” I nodded my head in agreeance, a more accurate state than that has never been said.
We walked out of the room and began walking down the hallway to our bedrooms, and I could see Sokka jogging towards us. “Aang said you were a bit tipsy.” He said with a grin as he swiftly grasped Suki’s arm to keep her steady. Suki rolled her eyes but held onto Sokka nevertheless, “I'm not drunk, just a little bit happy.” She said. Sokka chuckled and shook his head, “You sound like me. That means you are drunk.” I snickered as we continued walking down the hallway.
“And you didn’t drink?” Sokka said as he gazed over to me.
“I drank a little bit, but not as much as those three. I have a reputation to uphold now.” I grumbled, which was not exactly a lie. Sokka nodded his head, understanding what I meant. Now with my new title, there were a bunch of do’s, and dont’s that I had to adhere. Public intoxication was a huge no-no. Sokka opened his bedroom door open and helped Suki walk in. I turned to head to my bedroom, but Sokka’s voice stopped me, “Hey Yue…” He trailed off. He never calls me Yue…
I turned around and smiled, “What’s up?” Sokka smiled and bashfully looked at his feet, “I'm sorry about everything that happened. I should have stepped up.” I looked up at him surprised, “It was just a big misunderstanding. We are all happy- I'm happy, trust me.” I said softly. Sokka looked up and smiled, “I'm just glad everything worked out in the end. And if you need anything let me know, you know we got your back-” I could hear Suki crash into a wall from inside the bedroom. We both looked at each other, and slowly large grins started to appear. I couldn’t help but laugh as Sokka scratched his head, “Let me re-phrase, we always got your back starting tomorrow. Tonight is a no-go.”
I smiled and bid him goodnight, feeling slightly sorry for Aang and Sokka, they’re definitely going to have one hell of a night. I went inside my bedroom, and in a matter of minutes, I had already washed up and prepared for the night. The wine slowly starting to take effect, and a sense of sleepiness beginning to overcome me. I should really start having a glass of wine before bed; it's better at making me sleepy than tea… I sat at my vanity and began mindlessly brushing my hair. Mid stroke, a soft knock stopped me. My eyebrows pinched together, and I gazed towards the door, who would knock at this hour of the night, did Sokka or Aang need help? I placed my brush down and quickly slipped on my robe, before opening the door.
“Zuko?” I said surprised. Zuko leaned against my doorframe, undoubtedly dressed for bed as well. His black hair was let loose and fell down his shoulders. I really need to get hair advice from this man… He smiled softly, “I didn’t wake you, did I?” He asked. I nodded my head, “No, I was getting ready for bed. You need something?” I asked as I tied my robe. Zuko stood up straight and scratched the back of his neck, “I was wondering if you can come to my room for a minute. I want to show you something before you go to bed.”
I titled my head to the side and made a mental note, maybe a little bit of time away from Suki and Toph would do me good, as the moment Zuko asked me to go his room I immediately went straight to the dark side. I blushed slightly, taken off guard at his question and Zuko chuckled, “Not like that, I mean unless you want to, then, by all means, you are welcomed.” Zuko teased. I slapped his arm and pushed him back to step out in the hallway, “Well, when you ask someone to go to your bedroom in the middle of the night what else are they suppose to think?” I shot back.
Zuko laughed and directed me towards his room, “Maybe…this?” He finished off as he opened the door. My eyes widened the moment I took in at exactly what Zuko had wanted me to see. Zuko had lit the small fireplace that was placed off in the corner in his guest room, and on top of the coffee table were two mugs, hot cocoa. There were blankets set on the couch directly across the fireplace, and I couldn't help but be completely overwhelmed with happiness. “You did…this…for me?” I asked, speechless.
Zuko gently nudged me forward to the couches, before shutting the door closed behind him. “You don’t think me giving you that Imperial Seal was your gift, do you? I had to make it up to you somehow, and something told me that anything with hot cocoa was a safe route.” I must have looked like a child because I couldn’t help but clap in excitement as I observed the tasty drinks, “And you made it yourself?” I asked.
“Well…I tried the first time, and that didn’t go so well. So I asked Lia and Kima for some assistance.” I laughed and slowly walked over to Zuko, gently placing my hands on his chest, “Thank you, I truly mean it.” I said tenderly as I looked at his eyes. Gosh, I could get lost in those eyes… Zuko smiled warmly, as he nudged his head over to the couch, “Let’s relax. Aang told me you and the girls had a bit of fun tonight. Hopefully, this can sober you up a bit.”
I groaned and waltzed over to the couch with Zuko. “I'm not drunk, why is Aang such a worry wart,” I whined. Zuko plopped on one end of the couch while I sat on the other end, but Zuko patted his lap. I titled my head, confused, “Put your feet up; you are freezing, I can warm you up.” He said. I blushed, but at this point, I was too tired to argue. I raised my legs and let them lay across the couch, letting my feet rest on Zuko’s lap. He quickly tossed the thick blankets over us, before handing me my cup. It was the library all over again, except this time, there was no speculation about our feelings.
I sipped away blissfully on the drink, as I felt the way Zuko’s hand delicately drew random shapes and lines on my ankles, warmth radiating off his hands. His fingers were so light as if he was afraid that he would burn my skin, but his touch was tempting. I smiled and let my head fall against the side of the couch, just basking in his touch. It felt so right, sitting here, with him, enjoying the night. It was crazy to think that just moments ago I wanted nothing to do with him.
“Enjoying yourself?” Zuko said with a chuckle. I hummed softly and smiled at him, “You’re going to make me fall asleep at this rate.” I said with a light laugh. Zuko shook his head and smiled largely, “You just got here! We didn’t even talk.” I grinned and took another sip, “So what do you want to talk about so eagerly?” I said playfully. Zuko laughed and continued doodling aimlessly on my ankle. “Hm, there’s so much I still don’t know about you.” Zuko stared. I raised a brow at him, “Is that so? What could you possibly want to know?” I asked curiously, interested as to what he would want to know about me.
“Hm, your bending…or that tattoo of yours…” Zuko spoke delicately.
“You have to pick one or the other. Like I said before, I have to have one secret.” I said mischievously. Zuko laughed and shook his head, “Tell me about your bending, I’ll eventually see that tattoo of yours.” He said confidently. So confidently, it took me a minute to realize what he was implying. I raised a brow, “See my tattoo eventually? Someone here sounds quite confident in that statement.”
Zuko grinned, “You aren’t as naïve as I thought.” He spoke as he took a sip from his cup. I huffed and placed my mug down, “What made you think I was naïve?”. Zuko chuckled deeply, different from his usual light-hearted manner. “Because it’s easy to tease you-” He started. Although I could feel his hand slowly trail up my leg.
“Easy to make…” - his hand gently caressed my calf.
“you…” - he leaned over just a bit, close enough that I could see his golden eyes darken.
“blush.” He finished, his hand stopping right at my knee.
My face was rosy, entirely overwhelmed by him. My heartbeat was going crazy, unknowingly responding to every word and every touch. He has me wrapped around his fingers, and he knows it, oh, Zuko knew all too well what he was doing. As gentle and sweet as he was with me, he always managed to have this sense of power. Zuko was always in control, being dominant, even times where he was ‘relaxing,’ he was always a step ahead. It was evident this was how Zuko was born; born to be a leader, command attention. And as shameful as it was to admit, I loved it. Every single second of it. I may be sweet, but I was never one to submit, but if Zuko oh so dared told me to do so, I would ultimately come undone.
I bite my lip anxiously, trying desperately to control my heavy breathing. Was it the wine, or maybe I want a taste of those pouty lips. Zuko smirked and calmly pulled back. Leaning his back once again against the couch, fingers dancing along my ankles; as if nothing had happened. But I could still see the satisfied smirk that played along with his lips; he wasn’t an idiot, he knew all too well what he was doing and how it was affecting me. I realized that although I wasn’t naïve, I was an untouched delicacy to him.
I lifted the blankets and snuggled tightly against them, pressing them close to my body. And I thought I could play his game of teasing; this asshole has me beat! Zuko chuckled amused, watching me struggle to think of my next plan of action. “Would you like to go to the market with me tomorrow?” He casually asked, trying to save my pathetic ass. Is this guy really going to act like nothing happened? I smiled sweetly and squirmed underneath the blankets, but to fair, I should be thankful he is ignoring the obvious...
“I wouldn’t mind…I have to go shopping anyways.” I said, softer then I attended, realizing that the wine was truly starting to wear me down. Feeling the warmth from his touches and the fireplace, I felt cozy and content. “Shopping for what?” Zuko asked. I leaned against the couch once again, gently closing my eyes. “For your family…I want to buy something for your Uncle, Mom, Step-Dad, and your little sister…” I mumbled. I didn’t need to have my eyes open to tell he was surprised, “You don’t have to do that.” I groaned and shook my head, “I want to…I want them to like me.” I said softly.
Sleepiness was starting to take over, gosh, from giggles to flirting, to sleeping? I need to stop drinking wine... Zuko sighed and gently patted my leg, “They are going to like you, trust me. What is there not to like?” He asked. I shrugged my shoulders, too tired to argue, as I tucked the blankets under my chin. “I don’t know…” I trailed off. Zuko chuckled and gently shook me, “Are you falling asleep?” Zuko asked quietly, I could feel the shift in weight, as he was most likely leaning over me.
I nodded my head and let out a pleasant hum, “Let me take you to your room…” Zuko started, but I groaned in annoyance. And to be honest, I don’t know what happened next. At that point, I let the wine do its thing. Whether or not Zuko got me back to my room or not, will remain a mystery until tomorrow. I never felt cozier in my life, just cuddled up on the couch with Zuko’s warm faint touches. I felt safe, and within seconds I was off to dreamland…I can freak out in the morning…
~ Unknown ~
His eyes were heavy, as they fluttered open and closed, sleepiness trying desperately to consume him. Slapping his leg, he shook his head, knowing better than to fall asleep on the job. He had one task, and one only, keep at eye out for anything unusual. Whatever that meant, was left to the unknown. For days, he and a few other men stayed crouched in the bushes, staying hidden as they observed day and night. It was clear that tonight was going to be like any other night, wholly uneventful and fruitless.
Just as his eyes were about to flutter shut once again, he caught sight of it. A majestic bird, wearing clothing probably more expensive than his own, soaring through the air. It was clear the bird was tired, as the bird was gliding through the air lowly, rather than high into the night sky. All sense of tiredness left the mans body, and suddenly he realized that this was the unusual thing he was meant to keep an eye out. “Pst, up there!” He whispered harshly to his partner, whose eyes quickly shot open upon hearing the news that they may have caught something. “Well don’t just stare at it! I'll catch the damn thing, and you go notify the boss!” He grumbled back, stumbling quickly to his feet.
The man nodded, and he quickly scrambled to their boss. He barely took a few steps before he could hear his partner’s glorified cheer, “Easier then I thought, the poor bastard was hungry.” The man said behind him, as he quickly ran with the Hawk in a net. He could hear the bird desperately trying to fly away, realizing that the fruits were bait, but it was pointless.
They knew they reached home-base, as it was a damp cave, completely isolated and well hidden from people. Although everyone knew the chances of running into people here would be close to impossible, no one lived on these islands for years since the genocide. “Boss, we found something!” The man shouted. Right away everyone in the cave went silent, as they turned to face her.
She stood up from her seat and hastily walked towards the men. It was a common fact that you never speak to her unless granted permission. Therefore, whatever news these men had, better be good. “Found what?” She hissed out. The man pointed behind him, towards his partner who gripped the bird, but more importantly, the letter attached to the bird. “It was a messenger hawk.” The man spoke. Her eyes narrowed, examining both men and the bird before she outstretched her hand. Without hesitation, they dropped the note on her palm, and she eagerly read the letter.
Her eyes widened before a playful smile danced upon her lips. “Attach the note back, and let it resume its travels. Everyone else, get ready to leave.” She shouted quickly. No one dared question her authority as everyone scrambled to their feet and began packing to depart. Her attention reverted to the two men standing in front of her, “Guess you aren’t as useless as I thought.” She hummed.
Both men looked at her, bowing and giving thanks, despite the back-handed compliment. They knew it could have been worse. “Where are we going to?” One of the men asked; a bold question given who he was asking it to. Her eyebrow raised slightly, amused that he would dare speak out of term, “It’s time to make our move…and I think a few people would love to join.”
The man was confused by what she meant by make our move, but before he could ask more, she turned on her heel and left. Although, it was probably a good thing, given that she wasn’t known to be patient, and when annoyed, she often killed.

Thank You!
Now that Dishonored is officially done, I wanted to take the time to thank those who have supported me throughout the whole process.  It’s crazy to think that I was able to write a 31-chapter novel-length fic (over 180,000 words) while pursuing my PhD.  I would not have gotten through it without your support, and I am so grateful to all of you who read, followed, favorited, and/or reviewed my story. ❤️
I’ve received a lot of feedback throughout the years, but there are 3 reviews on AO3 that stood out to me the most, so I’d like to highlight these (below).

“Man this story gave me a whirlwind of emotions, a true rollercoaster for so many reasons. First off I'd like to take a moment to tell you that you're a brilliant author, you've captured what is seemingly a Crack fic plot into something so Damn genuine and raw that I literally felt the pain of every character in their own respective plights. I've always disliked the Azula/Sokka pairing which is odd considering I love pairings that don't seem like they can be, the Aang/Azula Azula/Zuko Sandor/Sansa stories of the world. I came here just wanting to read smut and I got that and so much more! I'm saddened Azula and Zuko won't end up together because I truly believe no one understands them the way they understand each other, but that's what real life looks like sometimes, not being able to have everything you want and having to make do. Of course it could never be but man was that painful lol, just incredible, and the dynamic between the whole group of friends is truly spot on, I felt like I was there In that room passing along the Sake and Cactus Juice and asking tough or innocent questions, this is the first of your fics I've read but that chances tonight! This is probably the only Zula fic that showed genuine love for each other that I've read and for that I thank you. Keep being yourself man, people like myself certainly need it!”

“First of all, I want to thank you for writing this beautiful, exciting story! It made my last 3 days to be a crazy back and forth between maniacally laughing and having stomachaches and tear ups ... oh and also finding myself having my dick in my hand all the time. You briliantly capture the essence of each and every character to how they were originally portrayed in the show. The story was NEVER boring and I just couldn´t bring myself to stop reading. Even the two nights I would´t fall asleep in bed while reading, so I had to force myself to stop because of work the next day. I love how you described and captured every scene, I could picture it all as if I was watching it as a film. Your sex scenes almost always made me want to grap my cock and jerk off ( which in hindsight I actually find pretty hard to manage while reading because I would always lose the right line :P ) Although I must say I preferred the Zucest scenes, I don´t know why. It´s not like they were written better or worse than the others, there is just something about the forbidden fruit you can´t have, which arouses me like crazy. And boy did you nail the "forbidden sex." And that is why I´m super thrilled to read your final final chapter when it´s done ;D At first I was not to delighted about the Azula/Sokka story string because I simply could not imagine it to work when I was thinking about the series' characters. But damn you sold it! I loved the way you flashed back and after the first flashback you had me hooked. You made this beautiful transition from how the characters were in the show to what they became, starting off with Sokka sitting depressed in Iroh´s teashop. Also I expected something far more crazy to happen when Zuko finaly was revealed Azulas plans written in the book. Something that might toss everything aboard like Azula turning Firelord and make Zuko her sexslave somehow or something ^o^. But ultimately I was glad you stayed a little more in "reality" and didn´t put a crazy twist that made no sense to the story. It´s a well more rounded story this way and takes itself more seriously.
All in all this is probably the best fanfiction I ever read and I´m thrilled for with what you put up in the final chapter!
cheers man, god bless you
P.S. Probably will read this again now because I don´t know what to with my life right now ... reminds me of myself after seeing the finale of the show for the first time.”

“Oh man. This was the first fanfic I've read. I'm so sad that it is over but I am excited about the last chapter. I hope it will be a threesome haha.
Ah man. I remember sitting in school after I read the first (idk) 5 chapters. I was completely unfocused. It was like a daydream. I had *this* (you know which) scene of Azula and Zuko in my mind and the scene where zuko finds out who he fucked and it still makes me laugh xd. I remember it so well. This shows how well it is written. This is one of the best fanfiction I've ever read and is easily in my top 5 favourite fanfiction list. It was and is so much fun. This story made me laugh and cry, it made me feel happy and excited and sometimes sad. I love the humor of this story.
This is actually my first comment on a fanfiction ever. I just wanted to thank you for this amazing story. I will never forget it.”
I’d also like to give a special thank-you to @clarielparke, @fanwright, @xxyaoi-nationxx, @dimensionbitch, @imgonnabetheavatar, @abbyofthefirenation, @jakeswanson98, @beluu-gomez, and anyone else who’s supported me and my writing.❤️

BEST WESTERN CARTOONS OF THE DECADE
With the return of Avatar: The Last Airbender to the popular psyche, I thought it would be a good time to rank the Western Cartoons it inspired in the decade after the show aired: the 2010s. While no shows were able to dethrone the Legend of Aang, every cartoon on this list is worth watching, which is not something I could say about the 10 best western cartoons of any other decade.
Notes:
This list only contains TV shows appropriate for children created in North America or Europe that ‘aired’ 2011-2020.
Some of these shows are considered anime, but I would also consider them cartoons. Cartoons that are also anime are labeled (A).
These are my opinions, DM me if you respectfully disagree.
#1 The Legend of Korra (A)
At its best moments, The Legend of Korra is everything I want out of a TV show. Aside from Book 2 - which is still a better season than half of the shows on this list ever produced - The Legend of Korra brought thrilling dozen-episode seasons to the world of Avatar. The villains are philosophically and emotionally compelling - unnervingly convincing as well. Indeed all of the characters are wonderful, and the show gives each one of them their due, despite how very many of them there are. The score is hands-down #1 on this list. The action is arguably better than any North American cartoon in history. The "Holy Shit" moments are not only surprising, but always satisfying to rewatch. Yet despite all of that and more, Korra's greatest strength is its protagonist. Korra grows every season, but is also deeply hurt by her experiences, leading to one of the best mental illness rebounds in Book 4. The Legend of Korra may boast some of the best representation, visuals, and mythology in TV history, but even if it didn’t, the protagonist could carry The Legend of Korra to the #1 spot on this list.
#2 Steven Universe
Steven Universe may not be a consistently high quality show, and rarely does it provide great fight scenes or animation. But on an emotional level, Steven Universe has everything going for it. Gem fusion is one of my favorite concepts in television. The characters are memorable, lovable, and relatable. The songs are Broadway quality, powerful, and I sing them when I need to feel the feelings they express. The representation is truly exemplary, the voice talent is movie-grade, and the characters reflect many our own real experiences. Steven Universe has taught me to master my emotions in a manner I use to educate psychology postdoctoral students. This show is fantastic... if you don't mind slogging through Season 1.
#3 The Dragon Prince
While The Legend of Korra is the official successor to Avatar the Last Airbender, The Dragon Prince is its spiritual successor. The first 3 seasons have been visually gorgeous, character-driven, and more rewatchable than just about any show on this list. The moral messages - specifically that history should not be a story of strength, but a story of love - shake the medieval fantasy genre to its core. The character and especially world-design leaves no stone unturned. Book 1′s framerate isn’t always fast enough, but its quality dramatically improved for the 2nd and 3rd Books, along with the representation (which was still pretty solid in season 1). If the show is given the 4 extra seasons it deserves, the world-building could easily rival that of Elder Scrolls, Warcraft and Avatar, and may even jump to the #1 spot on this list.
#GIVEUSTHESAGA
#4 She-Ra
Before season 5 premiered, She-Ra was going to be in the bottom half of this list. While seasons 1-4 were very good at dealing with abuse, and making us care about abusers and victims alike (sometimes the same person), the show felt very slow and undriven. Season 5 on the other hand was a total treat. The show improved on its weaknesses, with high quality action, perfect pacing, and very real stakes. Furthermore, the show took its strengths to legendary levels. The damage dealt to Catra’s psyche over 4 seasons began to heal realistically, in the best redemption arc on this list. The expressions of love and willpower become even stronger to fight Horde Prime. And most importantly, Catradora gave us the climax kiss scene the action-adventure gays deserve.
#5 Voltron: Legendary Defender (A)
If any show on this list has better animation or action than The Legend of Korra, it is Voltron (probably because Studio Mir is just that good). Voltron's core characters are all relatable and wonderful, with each of the core 7 finding time in the spotlight. It is incredibly rewatchable, the stakes are always real, and Season 7 is gritty as all hell. Weaknesses include a slow first season, and a frustrating instance of ‘bury your gays’.
#6 Star Wars: The Clone Wars
The Clone Wars has some truly forgettable and unwatchable episodes, even for the most die-hard Star Wars fans, putting this #6 show in a whole different tier than the top 5. But the upside to being an anthology series in a large expanded universe is that the best parts of Clone Wars stick with you, and can be re-watched without context again and again. The Clone Wars earns the #6 spot on this list for arcs like The 2nd Battle of Geonosis, Carnage of Krell, Arc Troopers, Mortis, The Wrong Jedi, Fugitive Fives, Old Friends Not Forgotten, and all episodes relating to Maul and/or Mandalore.
#7 Star Wars: Rebels
Rebels is frustrating in its spotty execution, because at its best it is everything I want out of a Star Wars cartoon: The main cast is 5 lovable characters who make a found family aboard the best ship in the rebellion (according to Han Solo). They include a victim of genocide who helps rebuild a home for his people, a Mandalorian artist (who invented the rebel insignia) abandoned by her people when she stood up for what she believes in, a master and apprentice Jedi learning to live and learn from each other in a post-Order 66 world, and a brilliant pilot Mom who is honestly just the best. The show becomes more consistently great as time goes on, but there are plenty of filler episodes and episodes you wish were filler so that you could tell people to skip them.
#8 Miraculous Ladybug
ML’s biggest strengths are in its gorgeous 3D animation and the ‘love square,’ a set of 4 ships consisting of two wonderful characters with superhero alter-egos. The show is fun, sweet, and has a brilliant supporting cast, but its poor writing and immense untapped potential (even after 78 episodes????) put it near the bottom of this list.
#9 Star Vs The Forces of Evil
Marco Diaz, Eclipsa, overtones of decolonization, and especially Star Butterfly, are what make this show worth watching. Star vs the Forces of Evil suffers from immense quantities of true filler and a mediocre supporting cast which would be damning enough to knock most shows of this list, but our Shooting Star is easily one of the best protagonists in this category, earning her show the #9.
#10 Young Justice
Young Justice has too many great characters - which frankly is this show’s strength and weakness. While there are alot of really cool side-character arcs, this show’s main cast is too big to have any of the arcs really hit home. The show is worth watching to fall in love with the cast, but I can’t promise it will stick with you (though it did stick with enough fans to bring the show back for a 3rd season).
