OH MAN I HOPE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU’RE ASKING

so my first notion is to take this route a la 12 monkeys but you know what? ima switch it and go outlander style. so mika is doing contract work for shield, gets a little tangled in places she shouldn’t be due to her curiosity, and ends up being sent back in time to 1942 by the tesseract. (”but the tesseract doesn’t do that!” i know let’s just roll with it)

she’s TERRIFIED at first cause what in the hell? how is she here? what’s going on? this is not her world! and she figures ok, i was at shield, best idea is to find shield again. except shield doesn’t exist yet. but steve! steve does!

she thinks skinny steve is the cutest thing she’s ever seen tbh, but she didn’t realize exactly how many health problems the guy had before the serum. yikes. also his friend bucky? hottie. but also a bit of a charmer...though all it takes is one late night h2h for her to realize that oh this guy is The Real Deal

when Bucky gets drafted she’s a little heartbroken, but luckily Steve takes her with him with all the SSR stuff. after all, she knows “crazy” things about technology (thank you, future education), so it’s easy to get her recruited as well.

she def helps convince him to go save the 107th - not that he needed any convincing. cause if bucky’s alive, she’s gonna tell him how she feels.

she does. it’s awesome. they fall in love. and she gets to travel with the howling commandos!

then comes the train. oh no, now she remembers why steve doesn’t have his partner in crime in the future. not good, not good! she tries to convince bucky not to go, but of course he doesn’t listen, and she already knows when steve gets back that bucky is not with him. 

when howard retrieves the tesseract after steve “dies,” mika can’t help but wonder if this is a way to send her back to the future again. she sneaks into the lab late at night - stuff is REALLY easy to hack in 1943 - and sure enough, gets sent back to her time

but he pauses, because there’s something...familiar about her...
