ARE CAR INSURANCE COMPANIES TAKING ADVANTAGE OF CUSTOMERS?
As most of us discover car insurance companies become very strict on their claims, when you file. One Company stands out above the rest, Progessive! As we are all drawn in by the comedic antics of Flo and her group on tv, it’s sadly not so funny when you file a claim with Progressive. The Company has a history of denying a large number of claims for just about any reason they see fit. They also…

Okay yeah I’m still stuck in a parking lot I’m begging every single person in their mid-late 20’s who needs car insurance to stay far, far away from Triple A. Have not been contacted whatsoever despite the ETA timer being 0 for the past 20 minutes. No call about a truck coming or any sort of update since I made the tow request 5 hours ago. What was suppose to be a normal arcade run turned into a fucking nightmare.
How the hell is roadside assistance this useless the insurance company really is just okay with leaving me stranded in a parking lot for 3 hours while they sit on their ass or something I WANT TO GO HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

https://www.tumblr.com/ladylooch/733002489968951296/when-lena-tells-everyone-shes-going-to-california
This has triggered something in my brain and now I need Lena angst.
Lena goes to California and has a super hard time adjusting to being away from home, especially her dad. She just has a hard first few months—“friends” that end up taking advantage of her, hard classes and maybe she gets into a little car accident. All she wants is her dad at the end of it.
Ohhh! Len!
California is not like the midwest. That is the only lesson Lena has learned in her first month and a half away from home. She's already had several fake friends, she's failed a test, and now, she's been in an at-fault car accident.
Lena's teeth chatter with the traffic on the busy California Interstate, sobbing into the phone with her dad as Kevin tries to walk her through what information to give the other driver. She looked away for a split second and rear-ended someone. Lena is not a mechanic, but she's pretty sure the car shouldn't look like THAT.
"Len, take a breath, baby." Her dad's calm voice comes over the phone. "You're okay. Hand your phone to the other driver."
The other driver looks to be around her dad's age, grimacing in sympathy at Lena's face. They chat, then Lena takes the phone back.
"Okay, AAA is coming. Get back in the car and wait until they are there. I'll call your brother and have him meet you at the auto shop and take you back to your dorm." Lena nods, then realizes he can't see her.
"Okay." She whispers. "Daddy, I'm so sorry."
"It's okay, baby. I'm going to look at flights tonight. I'll come out and take care of the insurance. We'll go look at new cars, if we need to."

car things:
switched auto insurance last night, new provider said Due Today! to start and we were like hahaha ok... but apparently they couldnt process it right then bcuz they need to review my records LOL so now im anxiously anticipating a quote thats about the same as my egregious payment hike w my current provider 🫠 so scared!
car wont start! im cursed. either its the temp fluctuations (oil viscosity and humidity / moisture buildup and freeze) or because the undercarriage cover that i lost recently in an honestly and hilariously strange event on the road was preventing local wildlife from nesting (for warmth( and munching (for fun) on my wiring like my old car. and now its open season, especially because they can live it up during the day but resort to wintertime habits in sub freezing overnights
im out of tubular gauze :( and i bought the last one from my local cvs last week(?), so i need to go to another store! i work at 12 and i definitely need to rewrap before then, but i have a vague hour fifteen eta from aaa so hopefully ill have time...

As yet another insurance company is pulling back from issuing policies in Florida following a string of natural disasters, the state’s chief financial officer has accused the industry of pulling out not because of losses, but due to wokeness.
Jimmy Patronis, CFO of the state, lit into Farmers Insurance for its plans to leave the state on CNBC recently, saying “if they would just leave ESG [environmental, social, and corporate governance ] and put it away, and focus on the bottom line, they may not have made this decision to leave the state of Florida with the tail between their legs.”
“I do say they’re too woke,” he added. “I do call them the Bud Light of the insurance industry. I do feel like they have chaos in their C-suite.”
The accusations aren’t helping the state hang onto insurers, though. This week, AAA announced it would not renew the auto or homeowners policies of some customers in Florida, making it the fourth insurer in the past year to back away from the state. (Bankers Insurance and Lexington Insurance, a subsidiary of AIG, left Florida last year.)
All of the companies that have reduced or eliminated their presence in the state have said the string of local hurricanes, including last year’s catastrophic Hurricane Ian, have made it too expensive to cover residents of the state.
The shrinking number of insurance options and the growing number of disasters is hitting Floridians in the wallet. The average homeowner’s premium in the state costs over $4,000, compared to the U.S. average of $1,544, according to E&E News, a division of Politico that focuses on environmental and energy news.
The companies are leaving the state despite legislation meant to encourage them to stay. Last year, Florida created a $1 billion reinsurance fund and set up laws meant to prevent frivolous lawsuits.
Insurance companies have also stepped back from California, with AIG, Allstate and State Farm no longer taking new customers, as wildfires in that state have driven up costs.

meet mica
Tumblr media
Mica is a 1994 Mitsubishi Delica L300 imported from Osaka, Japan. This year marks her 30th birthday, which in car years makes her a major grandma with six years of life experience on the both of us. As with any of our elders, we have learned an immense amount from her already - she is a little stubborn, tough as hell, and gives back even more to us than we unto her.
When we met Mica, she was imprisoned by the horrifying confines of a used car dealership. With no rust we could tell she had good bones, but she seemed neglected and we had to do something about it. Plus, considering we were running on a fresh-out-of-college budget, it didn’t hurt that she cost much less coin currency than her similarly imported siblings. We drove five hours to go pick her up and purchased her without hesitation (after spending four hours on the phone with insurance). We love insurance agents! They are so respectful of your time and so helpful in convincing you that you will cause $150k in damage to a local bridge. Finally we were on the road home as full of excitement and spirit as two young people could possible be driving their brand-new-super-old future home on wheels. Surely the only challenges would be steering from the wrong (right) side of the road and the 65mph top speed.
Halfway home, we took a mandatory Subway pitstop, ready to tackle the last couple of hours in the dark. Oh yea, we forgot to mention that the forecast leading into this weekend was a winter storm. But anyways, we forged on with hope in our hearts and Subway in our stomachs. At a certain point we noticed that the windshield wipers were slowing down a bit - “must just be the heavy wind and rain”, we said. Kept going. A little while later the headlights looked dim on the pitch black road- “our first upgrade should be new headlights”, we said. Kept going. After a few more minutes, the rapidly dropping fuel gauge needle caught our eyes - “FUCK”, we said, as the naivety finally started to fade. We had just filled up, so either we had a gaping hole in our fuel tank, or something worse… Surprise! It was something worse.
Internally full panic mode, externally calm. Neither of us would dare say a word.
Enter, Saugerties, NY. A small town off the highway which now holds a very specific spot in our hearts. We pulled into a gas station with relief and shut the car off. Mind you, this was still our first time taking this grandma out for a spin, and the first time this grandma had been out for a proper spin since we were born. After gathering ourselves and laughing at what might have been the scariest drive either of us had ever taken, we tried cranking her up again…
nothing.
The rest of the story isn’t underwhelming, but for the sake of the tumblr character limit, we'll just say it involves no ubers or AAA due to a state of emergency for the impending winter storm (which never came), a very kind gas station clerk who may have accidentally shorted our battery but also gave us food and water (guess we looked desperate), our first trip in a cop car (if you didn’t know you can’t let yourself out from the inside), a two night stay at a very comfortable Comfort Inn, and more auto shop phone calls than we have ever made in a 48 hour span (previous record: 0).
Eventually we were picked up by an extremely kind lady named “Mom” and she took us back home while Mica was towed to the only local shop which would dare take an old diesel van. The shop was great, but held onto Mica for over three months just to replace the alternator (the primary culprit) and change a few fluids. Despite being restless from our time apart and dented by a large bill, we were eager to dive into the abyss of building a mobile-home-studio-temple-spaceship. And thus commences over a year of dusk-till-dawn work, non-stop learning, unlearning, and a newfound friendship with Murphy’s Law…

Cheap Car Rentals in Montreal: How to Save on Your Next Trip
Montreal is one of Canada's most vibrant cities, offering visitors a blend of European charm and North American flair. Whether you're exploring the historic streets of Old Montreal, experiencing the lively nightlife, or venturing out to the nearby Laurentian Mountains, having a rental car can provide the freedom and flexibility to explore at your own pace. However, renting a car can be a significant expense if you're not careful. In this article, we’ll provide tips and insights on how to find the best deals on Cheap Car Rentals Montreal.
1. Book Early for the Best Deals
One of the most effective ways to secure a cheap rental car in Montreal is by booking in advance. Car rental prices fluctuate based on demand, and waiting until the last minute can result in higher costs. By reserving early, you can lock in a lower rate and have more options to choose from. Popular rental companies in Montreal like Enterprise, Hertz, and Avis offer discounts for early bookings, Eco-Friendly Car Rental Montreal.
2. Compare Prices from Multiple Providers
With several rental agencies operating in Montreal, it’s essential to compare prices across different platforms. Websites like Kayak, Skyscanner, and Rentalcars.com allow you to quickly compare rental rates from multiple providers. Don’t forget to check both international brands and local companies, as smaller firms may offer competitive pricing and unique promotions.
3. Look for Discounts and Special Offers
Many car rental companies offer seasonal promotions, especially during the winter months when tourism in Montreal slows down. Additionally, check for memberships or affiliations that can give you a discount. Some credit card companies, travel clubs, or auto clubs (like AAA or CAA) offer discounted rental rates. Loyalty programs and corporate discounts can also reduce your rental costs.
4. Opt for Economy or Compact Cars
When looking for cheap car rentals in Montreal, consider choosing an economy or compact car. These vehicles are not only more affordable to rent, but they’re also more fuel-efficient, helping you save money on gas. Since Montreal is a densely populated city with limited parking in some areas, smaller cars can be easier to navigate and park.
5. Avoid Airport Rentals When Possible
Renting a car directly from the airport can be convenient, but it often comes with additional fees. Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, like most major airports, imposes higher taxes and surcharges on rentals. To avoid these extra costs, consider renting from an off-airport location, which is easily accessible by public transportation or a short taxi ride from the airport.
6. Be Mindful of Insurance and Extra Fees
When renting a car, it’s important to review the terms and conditions carefully. While the base rental rate may seem low, additional fees such as insurance, GPS rental, and extra driver charges can add up quickly. Check your personal car insurance or credit card coverage, as many policies offer rental car insurance as part of their benefits, saving you from purchasing costly insurance from the rental company.
7. Return the Car on Time and with a Full Tank
Late returns or returning the car with less gas than required can lead to extra charges. Always return the car on time to avoid paying for an additional day, and refuel before dropping off the vehicle, as rental companies often charge significantly more for gas.

Really fully truly and completely I am going to set my car on fire and back it into the lake
The biggest expense I have had to contend with my whole adult life is shitty car problems. I've probably sunk the same amount of money into my current car as the amount I paid for it. I'm sick and fucking tired of building up my savings only to have to empty it again because something else went wrong with my vehicle.
And there's no end in sight! I need a car because I live in a society that values individual auto transport over efficient public transit! I need a car to get a job, to get my education, to have a life! I'll just keep sinking money into this thing until I can't, and then I'll have to get another shitty car because I can't afford a safe reliable one!
More than paying rent or sky high prices for groceries, I fucking HATE paying car expenses.
I hate you car insurance I hate you auto maintenance I hate you condescending mechanics I hate you fossil fuels I hate you battery problems I hate you highways I hate you traffic I hate you cars I hate you I hate you I hate you!!! (I love you AAA ur a real fuckin homie)
Anyway all this to say, if you are interested in committing car thievery, I would honestly be glad if you did it to me. I would get pity and attention for a couple weeks, and I would get to cancel my car insurance! Yippee!

Effective Strategies for Saving on Car Rentals During Peak Travel Seasons
Tumblr media
Traveling during peak times can be exciting, but it can also strain your budget, especially when it comes to securing a car rental. Fortunately, there are several strategies you can use to keep costs down even when demand is high. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you get the best deal on car rental during busy travel periods.
Book Early to Secure the Best Rates
One of the most straightforward ways to save money on car rentals is to book your vehicle well in advance. As travel dates approach, rental prices often increase, especially during high-demand seasons. By reserving your car early, you can lock in a lower rate and have a wider selection of vehicles to choose from, including the reliable Dodge Avenger available in our fleet.
Compare Prices Across Different Platforms
Don’t settle for the first offer you come across. Use online tools to compare prices from various car rental companies. This will help you find the best deals and avoid any hidden fees. By taking the time to compare, you can ensure that you’re getting the most value for your money.
Take Advantage of Discounts and Membership Programs
Many car rental companies offer discounts for members of organizations like AAA, AARP, or for those with certain credit cards. These discounts can make a significant difference in your total rental cost. Additionally, frequent travelers should consider joining a loyalty program, which often provides benefits like free upgrades and exclusive discounts.
Consider Off-Airport Rental Locations for Lower Prices
While renting a car directly from the airport may seem convenient, it usually comes with a higher price tag. Instead, search for a "car rental near me" that’s located off the airport grounds. Off-site rental locations generally offer more competitive rates and often include shuttle services to and from the airport, providing both convenience and savings.
Select the Right Vehicle for Your Needs
Choosing the right vehicle can also help you save money. Smaller, more fuel-efficient cars typically come with lower rental rates and can save you money on gas. However, if you’re looking for a comfortable and dependable ride, the Dodge Avenger is an excellent choice that balances performance with affordability.
Review Insurance Options to Avoid Extra Charges
Before purchasing additional insurance from the rental company, check with your current auto insurance provider or credit card company to see if you’re already covered. If you are, you can decline the extra insurance, which will help you avoid unnecessary expenses and keep your car rental costs down.
Refuel Before Returning the Car
One way rental companies increase your bill is by charging premium prices for refueling if you return the car without a full tank. To avoid this added cost, make sure to fill up the gas tank before returning the vehicle. This simple step can result in significant savings, ensuring you don’t overpay for fuel.
Join Loyalty Programs for Ongoing Savings
If you frequently rent cars, joining a loyalty program can lead to ongoing savings. These programs often reward members with exclusive discounts, free upgrades, and other perks that can reduce your overall rental costs over time.
Flexibility with Travel Dates Can Help You Save
Being flexible with your travel dates can also lead to lower rental costs. Avoiding peak travel days, like weekends and holidays, and opting for midweek rentals can often result in better rates. Even a small adjustment to your schedule can make a big difference in the price you pay for your car rental.
FAQs
How far in advance should I book a car rental to get the best rate? To get the best rates, it’s recommended to book your car rental several weeks or even months before your trip, particularly during peak travel periods.
Which websites are best for comparing car rental prices? Websites like Kayak, Expedia, and Rentalcars.com are excellent for comparing car rental prices across different companies, helping you find the best deals.
Do off-airport rental locations offer shuttle services? Yes, many "car rentals Orlando airport" options located off-site provide complimentary shuttle services to and from the airport, making them a convenient and cost-effective choice.
Can I avoid paying for additional insurance when renting a car? If your existing auto insurance or credit card provides coverage for rental cars, you can confidently decline the additional insurance offered by the rental company, saving you money.
What should I consider when selecting a rental car? When choosing a rental car, consider factors like fuel efficiency, rental rates, and vehicle size. Opting for a smaller, more economical car can reduce costs, but if you’re looking for a dependable and comfortable ride, the Dodge Avenger is a fantastic option.
Saving on car rentals during peak travel seasons is entirely possible with the right strategies. By booking early, comparing prices, and selecting the right rental location, you can keep your costs down while enjoying a smooth and hassle-free experience. Whether you’re looking for a "car rental near me" or a reliable vehicle like the Dodge Avenger, making informed choices will ensure your trip is both enjoyable and affordable.
