one of the cute things i really like about baldur's gate is that the greeting dialogues of npcs change depending on your approval rating, so here's what i think my tavs would be:

nesta: - " is there a reason you've interrupted me? " - " you needed something? " - " what can i help you with? " - (platonic) " my time is yours, my friend. " - (romantic) " i have not yet grown used to the sight of you smiling like that." - (platonic) " there you are. i've been worried about you. " - (romantic) " first of my heart. how are you, my dear? " - (platonic) " my day gets brighter when you're around, my friend. " - (romantic) " time stops for you. what do you need, my love? "

cerys: - " there you are! " - " oh, hello. should i put this down? " - " come by for a chat? should i make a cup? " - (platonic) " i can set aside some time for you. " - (romantic) " mo chridhe, you look lovely! " - (platonic) " a hero's journey is never done... have you come to tell me it's time for reprieve? please? " - (romantic) " the weave told me you wouldn't be stopping by... i chose not to listen. hello, my sweet. " - (platonic) " always a pleasure to have your company again, my very-best-friend. atreus: - " just in time for another song. " - " you caught me in the middle of musing. come to interrupt? " - " this journey does not give me anywhere enough time for beauty sleep... it's a good thing you're around to make up for it. " - (platonic) " next time we stop, can we stop by a tavern? i need a nice ale and a beautiful woman on my chest. " - (romantic) " ... hello, darling. come to join me for an early night? " - (platonic) " some of the things you hear in camp are things i wish i could never unhear. do me a favor and get my mind off of this, won't you? " - (romantic) " ...seeing you come around is like watching the sun rise. i'm not a fan of the dark, if that means anything to you. romancing quick tips:

nesta: have a drive for power, be okay with immortality, demand knowledge, be willing to be selfish, betray others, charm your way in and out of situations, ruthlessness encouraged

cerys: regale others with stories, save others, encourage selflessness, heal others when you can, solve with peace/talking/pacifism, donate to the poor, listen to her talk about questionable transmutation theories, do not make her education lesser because she is self-taught

atreus: good luck ( make him feel safe, let him set the pace, help him betray or ruin his ex-lover, be his hypeman, let him embrace his wanderlust, remind him that he is loved/cannot be forgotten, bring him shiny trinkets, let him top in the bedroom )

meanwhile nesta and atreus both are VERY selfish. nesta because selfishness has come from a result of the devotion of her cult — she has never been told no and is always stunned when she is denied something. despite this, she admires and respects the power of a denial — always appreciative that others will stand their ground. but you find her talking her way in and out of situations; convincing gnolls to self-cannibalize, goblins to bow and kiss her feet.

atreus on the other hand is a trauma response — after being in an abusive or one-sided relationship for so long only to have his heart broken at the end of it… his heart mended in the way a broken bone heals: wrong. his selfishness is formed by way of a need for healing, despite his consciousness refusing to let him do so

what if atreus’ guardian looked just like the young noble who broke his heart … hang on im cooking up angst … toying with his heartstrings, letting him speak to the man he once loved one more time …
