I think he’d start metaphorically sobbing the first time one of the team called him “shellhead” because thats a name FOR HIM!!! he gets a name! he’s been given a name! i don’t know if he’d HAVE one before that.

I like to think he’ll eventually take the name Shellhead as his and his nearest and dearest call him Shelly sometimes, once they all know who he is

And people calling him “ol’ Shellhead” but he’s so new but still so much of his was maybe Tony?

its GOOD! i think names in particular would be hard for him because. iron man is really the only name he has for a while, there, and he doesn't MIND it but it isn't like. a person name. it's an identity name. it implies that there is something else he goes by other than that, when... there isn't.

shellhead is very good, but i feel like it is very much like... an informal nickname other superheroes call him? like it’s cute but also it isn’t very personal. and he doesn’t necessarily want to go by tony, even though he kind of is tony (kind of? a little bit?) because uh. it’s weird to go by the name of someone you saw die, and also he is distinct from being tony stark. maybe not by much, but it matters.

(as much as i feel like he does feel and act very very similarly to tony stark, which is why he is similarly blorbo-ified in my head, i feel like there is a personal distinction the AI makes and that tony would also make between them, especially because of the existing distinction he makes between tony stark and iron man.)

I tend to default to calling AI tonies “A” to differentiate them from the original, but if i’m writing internal POV they still refer to themselves as Tony, so trying to figure out a name for one who isn’t is still... tricky.

i honestly don’t know what he would end up going by! absolutely no thoughts, but i do feel like he needs a name, one that isn’t just “iron man” and nicknames derived from that.
