Oh. William - James, he tells himself again, though for a moment, he is rooted deep in the tendrils of the past - does recognize her. Doesn't remember names ( he's always been terrible with them ) but it would be hard to forget a creation of his. Well. Perhaps not his anymore. Most of what he touches turns to blood and bone: the animatronic in front of him is soft, and warm, and studies him like he is something soft and warm too. As she always has been.

He chuckles, but it is more strained, breathless, than he likes to admit. Being here, talking to her: it's an odd feeling. Gives him a rush of adrenaline he has not felt in a while.

" I was... " James uses one hand to gesture around vaguely; tries, in vain, to gather his composure. " I fix things around here. I have not been here in a long time. You don't recognise me, then? "

( Perhaps a stupid, stupid question. But curiosity does not kill the cat when he is certain he can bring it back. )

DK sits still as his hair and face are bedazzled, smiling like a dope all the while. He picks up the nearest handheld mirror once she’s done applying the barrette and gives himself a look over in the mirror—dear god, he was adorable!

“Whoa—I’ve never looked this shiny before!” He observes, a finger poking at the banana barrette. “I like this one, this one’s my favorite. Got anymore?”

"You're not a hippo, you're a DAD. You have the DAD BOD'. That's gotten really popular these days. I mean it's not like I'm, like. LOOKING at you or anything, I'm just saying. Making an observation."

"A Dad bod...?"

The lingo is wasted on him. He flexed his biceps slowly. Sure enough, the soft padding expected from age sways clumsily. However, experience has kept the muscle sharp and dangerous. A testing squeeze does away with the softness and shows the beast off!

"I am a Dad." He boasts, quite literally. To top off the image of the day, he offers his audience a cheesy grin. "A hot Dad. Take it in! Bwahaha!

A soft growl comes from the gator, the large tail swishing back and forth. Always another day. There was a whole lot of things that had been on his. . . mind? -- would it be called his mind or his programming? Not the greatest performance today, but best not dwell on that. Ugh, why did things have to get so complicated? The tail moves a bit faster, huffing, "Maybe tomorro' things will change." Monty's attention turns to the other animatronic, washing away the broody mood in favor the the usual tough and cool demeanor, "Ya one for the spooky season? I know Moon's a big fan of it, but usually the daycare doesn' get too decorated up."

SAFE; the daycare is many things... William - James, he feebly reminds himself, with a purposeful squeeze of a cane he needs only on his bad days - would not have called it 'safe'. Not for the likes of him. Though he supposes it is a good thing that the animatronic - what was her name? He couldn't remember, there are so many, all of them differing and bright and brilliant, and his memory is not as sharp as it had been before - believes it to be so.

You are safe, her words imply. The daycare can be a sanctuary.

Perhaps... James allows a faint, mirthful smile to twist his lips upwards. The grasp on his cane ( his lifeboat in this place ) loosens.

" Isn't the whole pizzaplex supposed to be safe ? " He asks lightheadedly - he knows the answer to his own question. " You startled me. I ... "

The clamp of a springlock, the spasm of a plan gone wrong. Black fathomless eyes boring deep into his body. There is a reason he avoids the creatures in this place.

" I wasn't expecting any of you to be here at this hour. "

He's not shy at all...about taking a big fat drag of his rolled up jungle weeds. Once the smoke exited his puff, he stares up at the sky with a little smirk. The jungle animals are wild tonight!

"Eh...dunno if you'd APPRECIATE it." Either way, he seems tuned in on some unheard beat, nodding in place. "Ohhh yeah. gimme a-...GGG, CCCC, BBBBB-..." Huffing he flicks his fur out and takes another drag, puffing out.

"I like my-...."

"-water with lemon, and lime. That's 'cause they're better combined. Kinda like us- you and I? If you were fruit you'd be a FINE-APPLE."
