“Stop trying to run away. Come here.” Wonwoo’s voice was gentle and steady as always, but there was a subtle hint of amusement in his tone that only you would pick up. His words made your body relax almost immediately and a small smile crept on your lips.

“Why should I? You ate the last piece of cake,” you reminded him yet again, as if there was any possibility he would forget the fact with you reminding him every ten minutes the past hour.

“I’d buy you fifty cakes if that’s what you wanted. Just come here,” he told you, holding out his arms, waiting for you to consider the offer. You were only dawdling to tease him. He looked awfully cute with his glasses perched on his nose and his slightly messy hair from his gaming headphones. He hadn’t known you wanted the last piece of cake and had already apologized for it. He knew you were teasing him too, for just last week you had stolen food he had his eyes on as well. 

So you relented, and padded over to him, allowing his arms to find their home on your waist. His touch was firm, portraying his clear intentions. He wasn’t going to let you go until he had his fill. He hugged you close, lips right by your ear.

“Do you want me to buy you another cake?” he asked, and you giggled. He treated you too well.

“No, love. It’s okay. I don’t want another cake— just want you to keep holding me.” 

“Keep holding you? I think I can do that,” he said, smiling wider now. His grip on your tightened ever so slightly, the comforting hug welcome. Feeling Wonwoo so close to you was everything you could ever want, and infinitely better than a slice of cake.

You snaked your arms around his waist as well to mirror the gesture, looking up at him with pure love in your eyes. He looked back down at you with nothing but the same feeling, and another gentle squeeze to your waist told you everything. 

Your husband was a simple man, and it seemed like his only priority in life was to make sure you were happy. He did an excellent job at it, and you reminded him every day just how lucky you felt to have met him, fallen in love, and now be able to spend the rest of your life together. There was no better man you could have found, nor a better match for you than Wonwoo. Your perfect equal, even if he ate the last slice of cake sometimes. 

“How long do you want me to hold you?” he asked after a while. You looked like the last thing you wanted to do is make any moves to remove yourself from his arms.

He listened when you asked him to fold, brought you all the hangers you needed once certain articles were dried, and kissed you every now and then when you grew frustrated by the pile that never seemed to end.

you held up a black graphic t-shirt, which had half of it cut off. it was obviously supposed to be a woman's shirt—being manufactured as such—however, you couldn't help imagining your boyfriend in it, his small waist on display. and, who actually cares anyways?

looking over the rack of clothes separating the two of you, leehan laughed, shaking his head, "are they that bad that you had to use my government name?"

"obviously, baby.” you whined out, “just imagine how good this would look on you, i fear i'm going to force you into it in a matter of seconds."

"you won't have to," he stated, pushing the glasses resting against his nose higher, "i can change my own clothes, y/n."

“yeah,” you slightly smirked, eyes trailing to the ceiling innocently, “but what’s the fun in that?”

he met you on your side of the makeshift divider, “fine, but you have to put this on then.”

you studied the fabric on the hanger for a moment, “what’s with you and your perverted obsession with skirts?” you took the denim maxi skirt from him, “and, what about my shirt?”

“you could just go without one,” he shrugged, “or use my hands.”

you lightly pushed him by his shoulder, “then you don’t get any pants, leehan—think carefully.”

he looked dead into your eyes, and for a moment you couldn’t tell if he was actually joking or not, “sounds like a good trade to me.” but that was exactly your boyfriend’s demeanor; seemingly indifferent unless you look a little deeper under the surface. he was actually quite strange, but you liked your men that way—weird hobbies, obsessions, and all.

he was the first to crack a smile before you prompted picking full outfits out for each other. he agreed adamantly, practically skipping off (he didn't skip at all, but you thought it would've been fitting) into the opposite direction of you.

you felt your phone buzz against the pocket of your jeans, pulling it out and reading the text from him: meet at the changing rooms.

and with that, you were off to search for some pants to match the croptop you were determined to get him to buy. you couldn’t help it, he was like a doll you wanted to dress up and style; so pretty and perfect.

soon after, you had found a pair of straight-legged, baggy jeans to match, star patches littering the back pockets. you scrunched them into your arms and searched for the dressing room.

you found the unlabeled hole in the wall by leehan leaning against the doorless frame. he smiled when you approached, the two items neatly folded over his forearm.

“you go first!” you were practically buzzing, “i can’t wait anymore—frothing at the mouth.”

he stayed silent as he grabbed your arm, pulling you along with him. you searched around, however it seemed like you and boyfriend were the only people who needed to try clothes on right now.

leehan stopped in front of the door, eyeing down at you. you tried to usher him in, ready to see his makeshift fashion show begin, but he had other plans it seemed.

you gulped down a yelp when he pulled you into the small room with him. yes, you were the one who suggested it, nonetheless you never imagined he’d follow through with it. you should’ve know though, leehan was a freak; he liked weird things and acted even weirder — but, he was still your freak, and you loved him dearly.

the door shut, and his hand covered your mouth as your back pressed to the wall. you dropped the clothes over your feet; which worked in your favor as footsteps approached.

your eyes went wide as you heard a voice call out on the other side of the door, “are you okay?”

leehan looked so calm and collected as he replied, “yeah, my girlfriends on the phone, she loves croptops.” and the clerk accepted the excuse with a laugh.

you sucked in a breath through your nose, mustering up the courage to lower his hand without protest. he had a stupid-little smirk on his face—one that you loved—and he pinched your cheek teasingly.

"stop worrying. we're not doing anything," he whispered, "right now." your eyes went wide in response.

he took his shirt off, and you couldn't help stare. he was toned in all the right places; captivating with confidence; he was everything you envied and loved at the same time. the rain on a humid day. he was yours, all yours. "are you just going to stare?" he took his pants off next, practically left naked. but, he let you watch as he dressed once again in what you'd picked out.

you gawked, "oh em gee!" it was exactly what you had imagined, emphasizing his waist, "we're getting it—the whole outfit."

"oh?" his eyebrows rose in amusement, "are we?"

you hummed, "yup," and in seconds you were unbuttoning your own pants, "now let's see if you have taste, leehan."

he pushed his glasses up again, leaning against the wall for a moment to study you, with crossed arms. he always loved how you looked, not that it ever really mattered much to him though. you were pure perfection, eternal ascension, an angel with devilish body language; everything he wanted. he couldn't believe you were real, and his. all his.

“oh, i must.”

you giggled as you finished changing, straightening the tight asymmetrical top against your skin and the top of the skirt. it was a green knit fabric, sleeves flowing past your hands. it wasn't something you think you'd have necessarily picked out, but it was cute—a little itchy—but, oddly cozy enough to overlook it.

he practically shot hearts from his eyes, "it makes you look like seaweed." he laughed shortly after.

“Jesus, fuck, Sunghoon—” You shrieked when you entered your apartment, not expecting your boyfriend to be hanging from the ceiling, eyes staring at the door. He floated down to the floor, not moving a muscle. You were used to his… supernatural way of moving around by now, but you hadn’t expected him to jumpscare you like that.

“What did I say about hanging from the ceiling?” You muttered, brushing your coat off. Sunghoon slid over to you, hovering over your shoulder, eyes piercing your cheek. You figured something must be up. He didn’t act so vampirish unless he was pissed, reverting back to his old habits of hundreds of years.

“What did I say about going out without telling me?” He grunted in response, a very evident scowl etched on his face.

Ah, that’s why he was pissed.

“I did tell you, dumbass.” You slid your heels off next, padding your bare feet over to your shared bedroom. Sunghoon followed you, still too lazy to use his legs. 

“You didn’t say you’d be going in that outfit.” He countered, scarlet eyes shining brighter with his annoyance. 

“Seriously? I thought I looked pretty.” You huffed, grabbing one of his hoodies draped over a chair and glancing at the full-length mirror. You quite liked the dress you had picked out. Sure, it was a little revealing for your taste, but you wanted to try something different. All your friends were going to be dressing up nice. The dresses in your wardrobe were all gloomy colours and long-sleeves; very witchy thanks to your profession. 

The dark vermillion stained dress was sleeveless, adorned with jewels and a slit on the leg. You had bought it the week previously with your friend after trying it on and falling in love with how it looked. The colour reminded you of Sunghoon’s eyes. 

“You do look pretty. That’s the problem.” He muttered, biting his lip with his fang.

“There’s no need to be jealous, babe. I wasn’t looking at anyone else.” You assured him, pulling his black hoodie over your head. 

“People were looking at you, though. And for the record, I’m not jealous.” He frowned, his eyebrows furrowed as he too looked at the mirror, seeing the obvious absence of his reflection next to you. He hated that. Why did he always feel invisible?   

“Whatever you say.” A hint of a smile played on your lips. No matter how annoyed and angry Sunghoon got, you were never intimidated by him. He couldn’t hide the fact that he was secretly a softie. You pulled on his arm, and as he held no resistance, his body fell perfectly into your arms. 

“Geez, you’re burning up. Sure you’re not a little jealous?” You giggled, feeling his forehead and cheeks. Although they didn’t hold any colour, they were warm to the touch. You knew enough about vampires to know feelings of jealousy made their stolen blood boil. Literally. You had focused on vampires in your witch studies. 

“The room is just hot.” He made up an excuse, dipping away from your reach before you could see that he was lying. You shook your head, amused at him. He pursed his lips, taking a seat on the bed and avoiding eye contact with you out of spite.

You slid the dress off under his hoodie and grabbed a pair of pyjama pants to put on instead. His clothes were always the perfect amount of oversized on you, plus the added bonus of smelling just like him. It was like you were wrapped in a warm hug at all times.

“Burn it.” Sunghoon’s voice broke the silence in the room. You turned back around to him, quickly figuring out that he meant the dress.

“Good grief, you’re ridiculous—” You started to protest, but seeing his serious look painted in his eyes, you figured it was probably best to not test him when he was sensitive. You picked up the dress, using a simple spell to burst it into flames.

“Happy?” 

He nodded, satisfied. He tilted his head, and you felt a tug on your sleeve; his sorcery yanking you gently, a silent plead to come sit with him. You complied, knowing already what would get his mind off the burning jealousy he was feeling.

“Need your kisses now, hm?” You ruffled his hair lovingly, enjoying the grumpy expression on his face. Sliding his glasses back up to the bridge of his nose, you drew closer to his face. He couldn’t wait a second longer to taste your lips, his scorching possessiveness creeping in every cold vein of his body, heat shuddering through his skin.

He was annoyed at you and how you occupied his every thought. He just couldn’t get you out of his head, whether you were by his side or away from him. His entire life had turned upside down the second you walked in and trampled all over his heart. Now, he was stuck, inexplicable feelings swallowing him whole. He wasn’t used to it. No one else had such a big effect on him. He loved you too much.

He poured out his frustration into the kiss, fangs nipping at your lips, one hand holding the side of your neck to pull you closer. It wasn’t enough. Even as his tongue melted with yours, it wasn’t enough. He still felt the jealousy creeping up his spine, the thought of other guys seeing you look so pretty distressing his mind. 

You pulled apart for air, the eagerness of Sunghoon’s kiss depleting your breath quickly. He peppered kisses to your face and neck as you rested, tracing over every inch of skin he could reach as if to dispel any doubt that you were his.

The deepest green in a seemingly infinite forest

At the end of your story, everything may not be perfect or even the way the readers may want it to be, but everything will be okay. The ending is what your characters need, not necessarily what they want. You know how to write strong plots that are able to perfectly balance the right mixture of pain and lightheartedness. Writing tropes is one of your favorite things to do and yet somehow your take on it is always something so unique and original it'll make your readers jaws drop.

i think this is accurate… that’s how others have described my writing is like. if you know me i’m not one for happy ending but a realistic endings enthusiast (or as realistic as you can get with fan fiction lol).
