I’m clearly on a dessert kick at the moment ... how about Everlark chancing a moment alone at an event on the tour to enjoy some sort of treat they found/generally check in with each other and have a breather (or some variation or that — supportive Everlark moment alone on the tour) (I mean they do get caught trying to sneak away a lot, maybe sometimes they succeed)
Hope this satisfies your dessert craving! Thanks @rosegardeninwinter for the prompt!
______
District 5
It’s far into the evening when there’s a quiet knock on the door.
God, I hope it’s not Effie coming to complain about my lack of enthusiasm during the most mind-numbing speech in all of Panem. I don’t know how she comes up with these words, sometimes.
Pressing the door button, it opens and instead of an irate Effie, I find Peeta.
He looks me over. “You were really going to go to sleep?”
My gaze goes to his dark pants and heather-green long-sleeve. He’s also holding a brown leather jacket with a wool collar. “And you aren’t?”
“No. Get dressed,” Peeta urges. “I want to show you something. Wear something that’s not too obvious.”
“I guess my fuchsia sequin dress is out of the question,” I retort.
“Very funny. Hurry up, won’t you?”
“Fine.” I yank him into the room and Peeta looks surprised. “You can’t stand in the hallway waiting for me. Everyone thinks we’re engaged, we’ve probably since each other in various stages of undress.”
“Right,” he manages to sputter out.
I find myself grinning as I look through my closet, pulling out a simple navy-blue dress and a cropped jacket. Quickly, I pull my shirt over my head and shimmy out of my lounge pants.
Behind me, Peeta is quietly whistling to himself, probably avoiding the fact that I’m practically naked in front of him.
What a gentleman.
There are times, however, when I wish he wouldn’t be. When I wish we could recapture the hunger that had welled up inside our cave. Some nights on this train, I find myself replaying those kisses in my mind over and over—
“You okay?” I look over my shoulder to find Peeta watching, his eyes darker than I have ever seen them. I recognize that want in them. “You spaced out for a moment.”
I quickly pull the dress on and pull on the jacket. Finally, I bend down and pull out a pair of sturdy boots.
“I’m ready,” I declare.
“You look nice,” Peeta replies with a soft smile. “Now, let’s get out of here.”
++++++
We find ourselves in a village. The buildings are tall with cone roofs and painted in muted primary colors. Some have stone walls. As we walk through the village, the hand that isn’t grasping Peeta’s reaches to touch one of the stones. It makes sense as we are close to the mountains; it must be their primary resource for building material.
“Where exactly are we going?” I ask as Peeta looks around, his eyes searching the street signs.
“One of our handlers mentioned this one place…” We make another turn and his blue eyes brighten. “There!”
We go to where a small crowd hangs around a…bakery.
This isn’t like Peeta’s bakery as there are wide glass windows displaying trays of baked goods. Inside there are a few tables where the townspeople sit and lounge. It looks cozy and inviting and I find comfort in seeing people living their everyday lives, enjoying time to just be together.
It’s hard to feel like that when you’re on a never-ending train ride.
“Do you see anything you like?” Peeta asks me as we stare at various trays in front of us.
“I really don’t know,” I say. “Why don’t you pick for me?”
Together, we step inside and the noise ceases. I try to ignore the shocked expressions as Peeta leads me to the front counter.
All charm, Peeta gives the older woman with snow white hair a smile. “Hello. Francis recommended your bakery—”
“I’m flattered, Mr. Mellark,” the woman replies kindly. “My name is Mary. What can I help you with?”
“Peeta, please.” He turns to me. “Katniss and I have a limited knowledge on dessert pastries. What would you recommend?”
The woman beams at us. “Well, we are known for our eclairs—”
“I’ve heard about them!” Peeta says excitedly and I smile at his enthusiasm. He’s been so upset with me and I’ve given him several reasons to be. For the first few days of our trip, we avoided each other. However, Peeta has brought me with him on this jaunt so we can get out of our gilded cage for an evening. It is the faintest shimmer of forgiveness and I will take it. “May I see?”
The woman goes to one of the display cases and, taking a smaller tray on the counter, grabs a pair of tongs to pull out some eclairs. She returns, placing them in front of us.
There are two eclairs in front of us, both oblong-shaped, but one has a dark glaze on top and the other a lighter brown.
“This one is a chocolate éclair.” Mary points to the darker one. “And this one is maple. Both have cream filling and both are delicious.”
Peeta nods and turns to me. “I’m convinced. Katniss?”
I muster up a smile. “I trust you…but we don’t have money—”
“I’ve got it,” Peeta tells me.
“They’re on the house,” Mary insists, and she turns to me. “When I saw you with Rue…my heart just broke for you.”
My eyes fill and I’m barely aware as Peeta puts an arm around me.
Rue never had the chance to live, to be able to see any place but her hometown or even try an Ă©clair. These are such little life moments, but they feel bigger since she nor any of the other fallen tributes will ever experience them. My chest burns at the thought.
“Why don’t I buy two more?” Peeta suggests gently. “Let’s enjoy them for the people who couldn’t.”
++++++
We find ourselves in a garden, entering through an archway that looks like the one in front of Victors’ Village back in 12. Peeta finds us a bench that overlooks the whole garden and from the far distance I can spot the shadows of the mountains that tower over the town.
“Wow, this really is beautiful,” Peeta says as we sit down. “Francis made great recommendations.”
“When do you even have a chance to speak to the handlers?” I ask curiously as he opens the paper bag.
“While Effie is lecturing you to smile and stuff, I get to talk to them,” he explains. “I mean the handlers are here to welcome us and someone has to extend their gratitude. We’re Victors, but we’re not going to be jerks about it. They love to talk about their District and Francis just happened to be a chatty one. He’s the one who told me that this is a great date spot.”
A date?
I’m confused for a moment. Is this what this is?
“I’ll give you the chocolate one,” Peeta tells me. “Just don’t eat all of it.”
I’m so flabbergasted by what he’s just said that I reach for the éclair, holding it at both ends and readying myself to take a bite in the middle.
Peeta chuckles lightly. “It’s not a sandwich.” He rotates it so one end is facing me. “Go ahead.”
Tentatively, I take a bite.
The pastry is light, and the chocolate glaze gives it sweetness. I’m amazed at how well the slight buttery taste of the pastry mixes perfectly with the heaviness of the chocolate. The cream is sweet and airy but messy. I find myself licking the excess off the sides of the éclair and along my lips.
“Wow,” Peeta says, his face slightly crimson but the smirk is evident on his mouth. “That’s an image that I’m going to remember for the rest of life.”
I smack his arm. “I’m new at this!” He laughs as I put the éclair back on its wax wrapping. “Peeta?”
He’s already polished off his maple éclair—gluttonous boy. “Hmm?”
I adjust myself in my seat. “Have you ever been on a date?”
“I’ve gone with my brothers and some girls on a group thing,” he replies carefully. “It’s more like I tagged along to make it even. Why?”
“Then how do you know this is a date?”
“I asked you to come out, you got semi-dressed up, I paid for the meal, and took you to what some people might consider a romantic spot.” Peeta turns to me, his eyes warm. “So, yes—according to my brothers, this would be considered a date.” His eyes look off in the distance towards the mountain and I hear his quiet sigh. “Were your dates with Gale different?”
Gale has never asked me to go anywhere but to the woods or maybe to the market. I wear what I usually wear; my father’s jacket and my hunting clothes. Not like Gale’s ever offered, but I pay my own way…and we’ve never really gone anywhere remotely intimate. The thought alone makes me wince slightly.
Clearing my throat, I respond. “Um…I’ve never gone out with him like this.” Peeta turns to me, his eyes hopeful. “So, I guess this is…a…date.”
Peeta nods and I look around at the magnificent garden around us as we sit in content silence. Quiet moments like this are rare, but we take what we can. I breathe in the cool air, hearing the slight whistle of the wind between the mountains and let myself relax for a second.
His hand covers mine and gives it a squeeze. I know he feels it, too.
There’s a shift in the air; something wildly intimate is happening between us. Something that neither of us can really explain. It’s new territory which can be scary but his hand in mine gives me assurance like nothing else can.
“How are you?” he asks me suddenly. An arm moves stealthily around my shoulders and Peeta avoids my suspicious gaze. “I mean, not counting the whole Snow hating us thing.”
“I guess I’m okay,” I answer. My body curls against his, my head to his shoulder. “And you?”
“I’m on my first date with Katniss Everdeen,” he tells me and I can feel his smile against my hair. “What more can I ask for?”
++++++
It is all too soon when we return to the train.
Being the nice guy that he is, Peeta walks me to my room.
It’s right across from his, but that’s neither here nor there.
“Thanks—” I say, my eyes darting downward. “—for tonight. I think we both really needed it.”
“I agree.” Peeta looks to me, uncertainty in his eyes.
My palms are sweaty because I’m waiting…hoping…that he’ll take that next step—
“Where have you been?” We pull apart, finding Effie charging towards us sans wig and wearing the most garish purple robe. “Do not tell me that you snuck out!”
Behind her, a groggy Haymitch joins us.
Something tells me he knew, but did he care about our one night away from our steel cage?
I’m betting not.
“Then we won’t tell you,” I reply simply. I take Effie’s hand, rotate it palm facing up and give her the paper bag with the extra eclairs in it. “Good night.”
++++++
I’m disappointed.
Not by the outing…date.
There is still a pleasant roll in my stomach at the memory of the garden…our garden…of the taste of chocolate éclair along my tongue…and the look in Peeta’s eyes as he watched me.
Actually, that gives me a whole different feeling.
Going to the closet, I take off my jacket and reach for a hanger—
A gentle knock sounds against my door.
Hanging my jacket quickly, I press the door button and find Peeta in front of me.
“What are you doing here—”
I don’t even finish the sentence before his mouth is on mine. My arms wrap around his neck as we kiss, his hands moving along the line of my back. The heat is encompassing; our mouths connected, breaths puffing against each other, and foreheads pressed. Somewhere along the way, my hands travel down, grasping at his shirt…not quite sure where this will go…nor caring.
“Peeta…” I whisper against his lips.
His mouth moves along my jawline trailing down to my neck. “Yes?”
“I had a really good time,” I whisper into his ear as he mouths the gentle curve.
Peeta kisses me gently, a promise against our lips. “I’m going to take you on another date one day.”
I close my eyes hoping, after this tour is done, he’ll make good on that promise.
FIN.
And we know what happens next.
District 5 is supposed to be located around the Rocky Mountains. I imagine that the town they visited was what was Veil, Colorado and the bakery in the Lionshead district. The gardens would the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens.
I’ve never been there, but now I want to go.
Thanks for reading!

Could you write a fluffy NSFW scene with Nagato x reader so sugary sweet it will rot my teeth out?
Tumblr media
The Surprise
author’s note: so sorry for the late response! I recently started working again and things have been quite chaotic! I will be working on my requests this week! I tried to make this as fluffy and yet as nsfw as I could! I hope you like it!
pairings: nagato x reader
words: 1584
genre: fluffy nsfw
warnings: sexual encounters! nsfw!
(nsfw below the cut)
You looked at yourself in the small mirror on the wall, the soft fabric hugging your skin and aligning your curves, showing off your figure. The warm lighting from the candles you had set down on Nagato’s bedside table gave the room a cozy feeling to it, casting magical-like shadows along the walls. You felt yourself getting nervous by the minute, and you suddenly felt an urge to completely trash your entire idea and not do anything at all.
You had been dating Nagato for a year, and today was your anniversary. Although you two had promised each other not to do anything for it as the Akatsuki was getting busier by the day, you felt as if it wouldn’t feel complete without a surprise. Nagato had always been a soft, warm entity in your life and you felt as if today was the day to honor his presence.
And so, you had carefully bought a few candles and a light pink two-piece lingerie whilst you were out shopping for a few materials for the organization. You had snuck in the materials without anyone noticing, probably a reason for your membership, and had counted down the days for that big day. You had woken up as usual, met Nagato in the common room, talked a bit before going out on a short mission, making it back before Nagato. You took the opportunity and snuck into his room, setting the candles and the outfit, creating a fairy tale storyline.
As you picked out a few pieces of hair from your face and tucked them behind your ears, you heard the door open. You turned, meeting Nagato as he entered the room. His eyes widened, mouth opening as he couldn’t form an exact greeting to your presence.
“Nagato! Hi,” You greeted, your voice incredibly soft as to mix in with the room’s aura. Nagato shut the door, clumsily dropping a few of his belongings, before looking up at you in shock.
“Uh, Y/N—” He placed his things on the small table by the door, trying to keep his eyes on the table before turning around to look at you. “What are you doing here?”
“I wanted to surprise you for our anniversary.” You said, taking a few steps towards him. Your hand grazed the edge of his cloak, softly guiding it down his shoulders.
“Oh, I thought we… weren’t going to do anything for our anniversary,” Nagato said, his voice lowered to a soft murmur. His eyes tried to remain on your face but ended up quickly glancing at your provocative outfit.
“Well, I decided to do something for you.” You said, closing the space between the both of you. You softly caressed his cheek before leaning upwards, softly kissing him. Your lips gently caressed his, trying to deepen the kiss.
Nagato stepped back, his eyes opening and finding yours once again.
“Listen, Y/N…” His voice slightly shivered as his hand brought down your hand, letting it intertwine with his. “I know we haven’t, you know, and just because it’s our first anniversary you don’t have to—”
“I know,” You smiled, your voice cutting his softer one off. “But I want to… if that’s okay with you.” Your eyes searched for his, and before saying anything, Nagato leaned in to kiss you once again.
His lips softly caressed yours, letting you take control as you deepened the kiss, your tongue becoming one with his. You tugged at his shirt, guiding him to remove it. He leaned back from the kiss, removing his shirt, before kicking it away where his cloak had previously fallen. You pulled his hands towards you, placing them on your waist before continuing the kiss.
A soft moan erupted from Nagato as his hands began to feel confident against your exposed skin. They traced the lace that was hugging your soft skin, before finding a home in the small of your back. You began to walk backwards, smiling as Nagato stumbled a bit. You lead Nagato around, letting his back face his bed before softly pushing him back. Nagato gasped as the unexpected action took him by surprise, landing on the bed before sitting back up.
You straddled him, feeling Nagato’s hands reach your back once again with a confidence he hadn’t previously shown. His hands caressed your exposed back, softly tugging at the back of your bralette. You smiled at him, before leaning in to kiss his jawline, trailing soft kisses down his neck and onto his chest. His soft sighs were music to your ears as you continued to kiss him, softly leaving a trail of dominance.
Your hands moved down towards his pants, tracing the hem of his clothing before looking up at him for reassurance. He softly nodded and you rolled off to the side, sitting behind him. He removed his pants before towering over you. He leaned in, his hands suddenly pushing your shoulders back before getting on top of you.
“You are beautiful.” He whispered; the sudden dominance surprising you. Nagato smiled, leaning down once again to kiss you. Your hands reached to his hair, softly tugging it as the kiss intensified, earning a small moan from him.
You had never kissed Nagato like this—his kisses were always so soft, gentle, and short. He preferred to be in private to kiss you and his gestures were often innocent. In public, Nagato would only hold your hand inside of the Akatsuki hide-out, and in the nights you stayed over in his room, he would allow you to rest your head on his chest as he would trace small circles on your back.
That’s what you two were, up until this moment, innocent.
You had gently removed your bra as Nagato started to trail kisses down your neck. You tossed it somewhere unknown, and Nagato stopped his actions to look up at you. His eyes looked at your eyes, refusing to look at your body without some kind of approval. You nodded at him, smiling a bit as Nagato’s lips softly brushed past your exposed breast, causing you to shiver. He began to softly kiss your breasts before moving back up to your lips as if they were his home. He pressed a soft kiss to your lips before his eyes met yours again.
“I love you.” His voice was soft, inviting, and warm. The simplicity of it all—the way his hair fell down his face and created a waterfall of red, the way his lips seemed to leave a constellation of your skin, and the way he was so gentle with you, made you feel so safe.
“I love you too.” You whispered, leaning up and brushing some of his hair away before you met his lips.
After a couple of minutes, the soft garments were discarded and your hands trailed down his chest as he softly grinded against you, making you gasp with a pleasure you had not felt before. Nagato placed his hand on your thigh, tracing soft figures on your skin, near the area where you needed him the most.
“Nagato,” You said, between gasps, “You can…” Your voice was suddenly stopped as his hand began to caress you, entering a finger slowly.
You closed your eyes as you felt the new, curious sensation of having him inside of you. He softly began to thrust his finger into you, before completely removing his fingers altogether. You opened your eyes, looking at Nagato as he leaned back to look at you. His eyes were soft and glistened with overwhelming emotion.
He aligned himself with you, before softly inserting himself. You gasped, your hands gripping at the sheets as to prepare for the feeling of him being completely close to you. Nagato leaned forward, allowing his hands to intertwine themselves with yours, letting you adjust to him.
“Are you okay?” Nagato gasped a bit as he began to slowly thrust into you, his eyes overcoming with worry as he looked at your face. You nodded, slightly opening your eyes to look at him for reassurance.
Nagato nodded, kissing your forehead. He let his lips draw on your skin, peppering you with soft kisses as his thrusts became slightly faster. The discomfort you had felt at the beginning began to decrease as a soft pleasure appeared, making you softly moan his name.
“Ah, Nagato I—” You moaned, letting your head fall back as you felt his release. You arched your back slightly, your chest touching his.
“Y/N—” Nagato breathed, his voice becoming airy and weak. His hands gripped onto yours as his thrusts became slightly sloppy. His face buried itself in the crook of your neck before he completely pulled himself out.
Nagato wasted no time and wiped the hair that was stuck on your face, softly brushing the sweat away as he tried to stabilize himself from the high he had just felt.
“Are you okay?” He asked, for the second time, smiling as you chuckled a bit. Nagato pulled you closer to him, laying your head on his chest as he looked at the ceiling. His chest was rising as if he had not breathed in months, and his hand was tangled in your hair, trying to brush out the knots.
“I’m… more than okay,“ You confessed, looking up at him before planting a kiss on his jaw. Your action caused him to blush a bit, and he closed his eyes while feeling your warmth. “Happy anniversary, Nagato.”
“Happy anniversary.”

panning Kensington Market is not just a market, but a vibrant, living community, home to numerous waves of immigrants over the years. When visiting, I was struck by how many different people from all walks of life gather here to work, eat, live and play. With so many cultures and generations all layered on top of each other, the whole place has a DIY feel you don’t really find anywhere else.
As a destination for art, global street food and community events, there is so much life tucked into every corner of this bustling neighbourhood. It’s nearly impossible to take it all in at once… so, where to start?
Make the Most of Kensington Market
Golden Patty
Eat your way through a world of food
Although Kensington Market has some finer dining establishments such as Grey Gardens, more casual spots that only specialize in one or two items are really where it’s at. True to the market’s immigrant roots, you’ll find mom and pop restaurants serving quick street food and authentically cooked meals that bring a taste of their home countries to you.
Seven Lives is a neighbourhood favourite for getting Baja-style tacos, and they’re in demand. This cash only counter has mouthwatering tacos loaded with all the right toppings, and lots of hot sauce options to pick from. Another popular street food, empanadas, are perfect for a quick and affordable snack. At Jumbo Empanada, you can get a taste of Chile for as little as $1.75 for one of their mini pastries.
Fish and Chips from Fresco’s
As a Montrealer I also have to mention NU Bügel. They serve classic Montreal bagels wood fired to perfection and topped with the works, if you wish. Fresco’s Fish and Chips has meanwhile mastered and upgraded a British classic with an optional extra crispy batter made from Miss Vickie’s “crisps.” Then, Golden Patty will deliver on all your flaky, spicy, delicious, beefy needs.
Kensington Market also has a lot of options for vegetarian and vegan eats. Options like Urban Herbivore,  Hibiscus and King’s Cafe are sure to make your little plant-based hearts sing.
Kensington Market & Chinatown Toronto Food Tour exploring the back alleys
Take the Kensington Market and Chinatown Toronto Food Tour
If you’re new in the area or want to get to know it from a different perspective, taking a tour can be the perfect way to connect with the place. You’ll get to know the stories and the history that helped make Kensington Market the way it is today, and get a taste of what a community like this really means. Plus, it’s clear there’s a lot to taste in this high density foodie destination.
Food samples on the Kensington Market & Chinatown Toronto Food Tour
On the Kensington Market & Chinatown Toronto Food Tour, you’ll have the chance to visit 7+ different food stops to taste delicacies that are inspired by global cuisines, and yet take root at a small local business, each with its own story. No single restaurant could bring you a seven course meal this diverse! You’ll definitely get plenty to eat, but you’ll also be enriched by the guide’s insider knowledge as they take you to explore off the main streets and into the real heart of Kensington Market. Have a look at Local Toronto Food Tours.
Outside FIKA
Take it easy at a local cafe
You might need some extra energy to soak in as much as you can of Kensington Market, so why not treat yourself to a delicious cup of coffee, and maybe a scone?
My favourite place to refresh as I explore the market is Moonbean. The locally owned coffee shop and roastery brings the streets’ energy inside with a sprawling chalkboard menu, loose leaf teas lining the walls, and a cozy art-filled room in the back. They also have two patios, front and back, plentiful baked goods, and just about every drink you can think of, even smoothies. Plus, if you need to make another kind of rest stop, you’ll find kind messages from strangers scrawled all over the bathroom walls.
Another great coffee shop is FIKA, a bright and stylish Sweden-inspired spot that’s a favourite for studying, reading a book, or simply taking it easy. They serve specialty drinks such as a spiced cardamom latte, lavender white hot chocolate, and a mean iced coffee, too – perfect for enjoying on their airy patio in the summer.
Other local favourites include famed Toronto chain Jimmy’s Coffee as well as i deal coffee, Cafe Pamenar and Livelihood Cafe.
Exploring the alleyways of Kensington Pl.
See where creativity spills onto the streets
Music, street performances, murals and more fill the streets of Kensington Market with endless inspiration and photo opportunities. With so many artists around, you’ll be pressed to find wall space that doesn’t boast even a speck of paint. They’ve truly made Kensington their own.
Some of my favourite murals are a photo collage on Kensington Ave off St Andrew and a huge Alphonse Mucha inspired mural at Augusta and Oxford. Parked in front the latter, you’ll also find Yvonne Bambrick’s infamous Garden Car, a teeny tiny city park/community art project which has been sprouting in the same spot each summer since ’07. Make sure you keep your eyes up as you explore hidden corners and back alleys, you never know what else you’ll find!
Street performers
While street performers and pop-up concerts may be a little harder to track, if the sun is out you’re sure to stumble upon some talented buskers at Bellevue Square Park. To increase your odds, come by for Pedestrian Sundays. The whole market is blocked off from traffic on the last Sunday of every summer month, opening it up for people and their experimentations. Support artists directly, too, by checking out the Kensington Market Art Fair.
The Winter Solstice Festival also takes over the market annually on December 21st, lighting up the longest night of the year with creativity and passion.
Lanterns on display at Dancing Days
Shop around for locally made goods
Naturally, the storefronts in Kensington Market sell products by people just as diverse as its residents. Creativity is concentrated at a few charming stores offering handmade and locally produced goods that range from artwork to accessories to home decor, and more.
First off, Kid Icarus is a sweet, stylish screen printing studio and gift shop all in one. They focus on paper products like greeting cards and stationary, but you’ll find pins, soap and other creative crafts, too. Everything in store is made by Canadian artists and artisans, and it’s irresistibly cute.
Painted house
Outside of Dancing Days
Another good place to pick up Canadian-made gifts is The Blue Banana Market. The giant store is practically a warehouse for locally made goods and novelty items from around the globe. Then, for comic book lovers, manga fans, and graphic novel enthusiasts, there’s The Beguiling. You’ll find the famed comic book store just a couple steps from the market on College Ave. Even if you weren’t looking for any of those, there’s something about it that just draws you in.
Finally, if you’re looking for some unique jewellery, you’re in luck. One Love is one man’s tiny storefront selling handcrafted goods and jewellery, with a smile. You can also find other similarly handmade pieces displayed on tabletops around the market. Follow your instinct as you stroll the streets and see what speaks to you!
One of Kensington Market’s many fruit stands
Pick up some specialty ingredients
Grocery shopping might be an underrated form of entertainment, but one of the big draw-ins of Kensington Market is its high density of specialty grocers. There’s nothing better than treating yourself to some of the freshest ingredients you can get. Whether you’re cooking up a special meal or just having a snack, you’ll see the difference that freshness makes.
Even if you don’t have a kitchen at your disposal, these spots can help you feel right at home. There’s nothing better than fresh bread from Toronto’s favourite Blackbird Baking Co. topped with your favourite creamy delight from the Global Cheese Shoppe just around the corner.
Global Cheese
For carnivores, Sanagan’s Meat Locker is your local go-to. They emphasize building relationships with farmers, meaning you can trace everything in store back to its source. All that’s left to do is let the helpful staff guide you to picking the perfect cut. Next, you’ll find fruit and vegetable stands all around the market to add a little colour to your meal, while House of Spice will help bring the flavour. You’re sure to discover something new while you’re in there, too.
If you’re looking for place to shop that’s a little better rounded, 4 Life Natural Foods has it all when it comes to organic goods. With spacious aisles, wooden shelves and so many ethically sourced food options, the whole experience of being there is simply a pleasure.
Kensington Mall
Discover the wonder of thrift shops
Kensington Market is truly a haven for lovers of vintage. With shops selling unique finds around every corner, its no wonder the area’s residents all look so cool. Plus, buying secondhand clothes is a simple way to take it easy on Mother Earth.
Perhaps the most well-known vintage shop in the area is Courage My Love, a cozy and colourful store perfect for finding cashmere pieces, theatrical accessories, beads, buttons and other DIY necessities, as well as the perfect pair of cowboy boots. Another favourite is Sub Rosa Vintage just next door, which boasts a hand picked selection of clothes more in line with today’s fashion trends. Meanwhile, Vintage Depot has top tier threads in just about any shape or colour, including some designer finds, Exile delivers on the costume department and Bungalow mixes the old with the new making it a one-stop shop for any lover of retro style.
If you’re in the mood for a little shopping spree, you’ll find the highest concentration of other vintage shops on Kensington Ave around Courage My Love and Sub Rosa.
CN Tower seen from Chinatown
Explore neighbouring Chinatown
A mere block away from the heart of Kensington Market is another bustling urban community. Chinatown is full of family-owned business of all sorts, but the main attraction is definitely the food. While the number of restaurants serving different variations on the same cuisine was a little overwhelming at first, after a little exploring I’ve narrowed down my favourite spots, depending on what you’re looking for.
Chefs working at Mother’s Dumplings
Dumplings? Try Mother’s Dumplings, and watch the little bundles of flavour be made right in front of your eyes. Noodles? Despite the name, Chinese Traditional Buns serves some awesome Dan Dan Noodles, without the frills. Soup? Phở Hưng has all you could want, and more. Sandwich? Banh Mi Nguyen Huong serves Banh Mi that’s quick, cheap and most of all delicious. Buns? Now, those are top-tier at Mashion Bakery.

Neutral Home Interior Ideas
Beautifully designed by two very talented interior designers, Mitzi Maynard and Clare Kennedy, this neutral home has 4 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms (6 including pool house), and a total of 6,500 square feet.
The homeowners began building this neutral home in the fall of 2015, and it was completed in the Spring of 2017. This home combines a few different architectural styles. The exterior is a fresh take on a traditional home, which works well in their established neighborhood in Nashville. The interior of the home has a more Modern/Mediterranean style with a neutral color scheme that is easy on the eyes and soothing to the soul.

What to see in Kaliningrad in 1 day: 20 most interesting places
New Post has been published on https://tripsterguru.com/what-to-see-in-kaliningrad-in-1-day-20-most-interesting-places/
What to see in Kaliningrad in 1 day: 20 most interesting places
Kaliningrad, the most western city in Russia, attracts travelers with its special atmosphere. What to see in Kaliningrad in 1 day, we will show you the 20 most interesting places. Former Königsberg until 1945 was the capital of East Prussia. As a result of the dedicated work of Soviet citizens, the city literally rose from the ashes. Despite the numerous destruction after the Second World War, a considerable number of architectural monuments have been preserved here. Tourists will always be interested in deciding what to see in Kaliningrad in 1 day. Unique cathedrals, fortifications, museum complexes with unique expositions, spacious green parks deserve attention. A variety of attractions symbolize the richness of the cultural heritage of this historical and geographical area.
Brandenburg Gate
One of the many architectural monuments testifying to the German-Prussian past is the Brandenburg Gate. They gained their present appearance in the middle of the 19th century. King of Prussia Frederick II ordered the construction of new brick gates instead of a dilapidated wooden structure, which would serve as reliable protection of the city from the south. The grandiose structure attracts tourists with its Gothic architecture. The gate consists of two canvases, the width of which provides travel for only one car. Traffic on Bagration Street passes through them.
The construction is decorated with two serrated gables, decorative turrets, coats of arms, medallions, bas-reliefs and ornaments of light sandstone in the form of stone flowers. The massive brick walls feature arched windows and oak doors. Inside the gate is an unusual museum of marzipan. The hall exhibits items made from sugar treats.
Church of the Holy Family
A masterpiece of the Gothic architecture of Kaliningrad is the Holy Family Church. This is a former Catholic church located in the middle of a Soviet-era residential block. At present, a concert hall of the regional philharmonic society is equipped in it. The majestic building was erected from red brick at the beginning of the 20th century.
The construction is famous for its tower, which rises several tens of meters. The facade of the historical structure, crowned with a pitched roof, is decorated with decorative details with bright impregnations of white elements, high lancet windows and vertical rods. The rigor of cubic forms is given by numerous stepped pediments.
Octagonal columns prevail in the interior of the church. Among the exquisite arcades under the vaulted ceiling is an organ. Along the perimeter of the room installed lighting devices and plasma screens. Organ concerts, jazz festivals, chamber concerts and romance evenings are regularly held here.
Friedland Gate
Tourists should pay attention to the Friedland Gate, which in the mid-19th century served as part of the urban defense system. The facade of the Neo-Gothic structure, divided by five buttresses, is decorated with sculptures, towers, carved patterns and rhombic ornaments. Massive brick walls end with rows of teeth. The through holes of the gate are made in the form of lancet arches.
For lovers of historical artifacts, a museum is organized in the fortification. On the premises you can see various household items of the townspeople: dishes, clothes, toys, books, coins, stamps, pharmaceutical containers and many other valuable exhibits. Of interest is the hall dedicated to the Medieval period. It exhibits armor, weapons, flags and coats of arms of knightly orders. Visitors are offered the opportunity to take a virtual walk through the old quarters of pre-war Koenigsberg.
Fish Village
Along the picturesque embankment of the Pregol River, there is a small trading, ethnographic and artisan quarter – Fish Village. The newly formed in 2006 architectural ensemble imitates the historical buildings of Koenigsberg. Modern architects managed to recreate the special original atmosphere of the ancient city. Here are hotels and restaurants, souvenir shops and various shops, galleries and museums, a river station and a lighthouse.
Hundreds of years ago, fishermen lived on a neat German street, who sold their catch directly to the townspeople. Tourists will be interested in taking a walk along the well-groomed promenade, looking at beautiful half-timbered buildings and a large number of sculptural compositions. The facades of buildings with wooden balconies are crowned with a red tiled roof. The structure of the Fish Village includes a movable Jubilee Bridge, in the fence of which the newlyweds hang their “locks of love”. The embankment is equipped with slopes to the berths for pleasure boats.
View Tower Lighthouse
In the heart of the Fish Village stands the Lighthouse View Tower. The height of the structure reaches 30 meters. Travelers are advised to climb the observation deck of the tower, which offers amazing panoramic views of the natural landscapes and attractions of the city. To do this, it is necessary to overcome the 133 steps of a spiral staircase.
On the way to the top of the lighthouse, guests will be greeted by a cozy restaurant and gift shop. Of interest is the hall with old artifacts discovered during the construction of the Fish Village. The highlight of the exhibition is a collection of weapons of the XIX-XX centuries, household items and clothing of citizens of the XVI century. The survey open platform of the lighthouse is fenced with a figured lattice.
From a bird’s eye view you can see the whole of Kaliningrad: multi-story buildings, a river bay and architectural monuments. In addition to the opening beautiful panoramas of the city, it is worth paying attention to the sculpture of a seagull, which holds an egg grated to shine. The legend says that if you rub it and make a cherished desire, it will certainly come true.
Cathedral
The hallmark of the capital of the amber region of Russia is the Cathedral, standing on the island of Kant, surrounded by sprawling green spaces of the park complex. The oldest architectural monument of the former Königsberg is of historical and artistic value. The first written mention of the cathedral dates back to the 14th century. Over its rich history, the building has been rebuilt and restored several times.
During World War II, the cathedral was severely damaged by the bombing of British aircraft. The interiors of the temple burned to the ground. The iconic shrine has turned into ruins. Extensive reconstruction work was carried out from 1994 to 2005. Currently, the building is used as a multifunctional cultural center. The cathedral regularly hosts concerts of classical organ music. The majestic three-nave basilica is built in the Gothic style of red brick. The main facade is divided by numerous lancet openings of various shapes.
Some windows feature exquisite stone lace. The building is crowned with a clock tower and a high gable roof. The interior is striking in its splendor. In the main bright and airy hall, a vaulted ceiling stands out, resting on massive white columns. Of interest are picturesque stained-glass windows with illustrations of biblical subjects and large chandeliers with gilding. A special place is occupied by the organ complex, decorated with sculptures with exquisite wood carvings.
Tomb of Immanuel Kant
A small memorial adjoins the northeast wall of the Cathedral. It is an open gallery with a stone colonnade surrounding the cenotaph (grave without burial). This is a symbolic massive sarcophagus of dark granite. Deep underground lies the remains of the outstanding thinker of the XVIII century – Immanuel Kant.
The world famous philosopher was born in Koenigsberg. He made an indisputable contribution to the development of modern philosophical science. The works of the German thinker, devoted to the fundamental issues of life, had a huge impact on the minds of Europeans. The memorial structure was built on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of I. Kant on the site of a dilapidated chapel.
Holy Cross Cathedral
Holy Cross Cathedral is an active Orthodox church located on October Island. The first stone of the historical church, which originally belonged to the Lutheran community, was laid in the 30s of the XX century. The cult structure survived during the bombing of Koenigsberg during the Second World War. In 1989, the former church passed under the patronage of the Russian Orthodox Church. Holy Cross Cathedral attracts tourists with its characteristic appearance.
The three-nave building has a plan in the form of an equilateral cross. Above the western facade towers two bell towers connected by a covered gallery. The external lining of the monumental walls is made of decorative bricks of various degrees of firing. The main architectural element of the temple is a huge niche-portal, the surface of which is decorated with panels with a large cross. The interior is designed in accordance with the Orthodox canons. Of interest is the unique amber iconostasis.
Museum of the World Ocean
It is impossible to imagine a program of exploring the sights without visiting the museum center dedicated to the study of the wealth of the oceans. A whole complex of objects is located on the promenade of Peter the Great. This is the territory of the former port, where in the restored old warehouse facilities and new pavilions there are many exhibitions with a variety of exhibits.
At the quay berth moored vessels that have served their term in the country’s Navy. Everyone has the opportunity to inspect the sides and interior of the ships. Some exhibits of the museum fund are exposed in the open air: installations of a water molecule, ship’s guns, boats, torpedoes, anchors and many other objects.
The main building of the museum houses aquariums with marine inhabitants, amazing collections of corals, mollusks and shells, as well as models of ships and underwater bathyscaphes. Ancient maps, instruments and diving equipment allow you to plunge into the mysterious world of the ocean depths.
Submarine B-413
Guests of the large-scale complex of the Museum of the World Ocean are offered a unique opportunity to visit the diesel-electric submarine B-413, which is moored at the pier of the Pregol River embankment. The submarine was launched in 1968. As part of the Northern and Baltic Fleet, she made more than ten military expeditions, took part in a number of naval exercises. Submarine belonged to the pre-atomic period of development of the Russian Navy.
Since 2000, the B-413 has been a museum exhibit and has received numerous visitors who want to feel themselves as part of the crew of a combat submarine. Going down the ramp, tourists will see mechanisms, appliances, living compartments, torpedo compartments and rooms with equipment. It will be interesting to examine the command cabin, crew cabins, first-aid post, galley and latrine.
Historical and Cultural Center “Ship Resurrection”
Among visitors to the Museum of the World Ocean, the historical and cultural center – “Ship Sunday” is especially popular. The exhibits, which tell about the development of shipbuilding in Russia, occupy the restored premises of the Friedrichsburg Gate. This is a monument of fortification architecture of the XIX century. The gate consists of one arched portal, on the sides of which round towers and casemates are attached. Massive walls end with a toothed parapet.
In the exhibition halls you can see a collection of different models of ships: from kizhanka and dugout boats to frigates and battleships. It will be interesting to get acquainted with ancient navigation devices, such as a wind meter, grad stock, manual lot, Davis quadrant. Behind glass racks are stored cards, orders, banners, flags and numerous rigging elements. Part of the exposition is dedicated to the role of Peter the Great in the formation of the Russian Navy. From the side of the city they have windows, and from the outside – embrasures. The surface of the walls ends with a crown of teeth. Today in the Rosgarten Gate there is a restaurant “Sun Stone”.

The Top 10 Cafes in St. Louis
St. Louis’ Favorite Cafes Feature Fresh Fare, Friendly Service
St. Louis, MO/January 1, 2108 (STL.News) – With the recent closing of all the Tim Hortons cafes in the St. Louis area, it got us to wondering about the other cafes in town.  By their very nature, cafes are small, casual restaurants that generally serve coffee, tea, and light meals and snacks.  Most cafes specialize in breakfast and lunch, but a few also do early supper service.  One thing they all have in common is a dedication to serving tasty food in a relaxed, comfortable environment.  St. Louis has scores of cafes—some quaint little eateries offering gourmet coffee and scones.  Others resemble fast-casual diners, with elevated food and that classic cafe ambiance.  A few even offer wine and beer.
In looking for St. Louis’ best cafes, we found a nice assortment of cozy spots offering everything from fresh donuts and bagels to scratch-made farm-to-table fare.  After checking customer reviews, we found great little cafes around just about every corner.  St. Louis’ favorite is a metro-east gem called Kool Beanz Cafe.  Victoria Arguelles’ cafe is the kind of place that beckons diners to linger.  It’s not just a great spot to grab a quick bite and cuppa.  It’s a great place to socialize, do business, play games, borrow books, or relax with that cuppa on a comfy sofa.  The cafe is adorned with the works of local artists and the aromas of fresh coffee and good things to eat permeates the place.  From the fresh, made-from-scratch cinnamon rolls to the Havarti covered birds nest and the bacon-apple brie panini, everything at Kool Beanz is fresh and delicious.  In the evenings, Kool Beanz takes on more of a coffee house vibe, even hosting open mic nights (music and poetry) every Thursday.  Customers rave about the friendly, attentive service at this neighborhood cafe.  There’s a very pleasant patio and free Wi-Fi too.  Great food and great service in a warm, comfortable environment makes Kool Beanz St. Louis’ favorite cafe.
There is an eclectic assortment of cafes spread all over the St. Louis metro area.  Here are the top 10, according to customer reviews:
1. Kool Beanz Cafe (4.76 stars/54 reviews) Metro-east, 1316 Niedringhaus Ave, Granite City, IL 62040, (618) 877-5730. 2. Russell’s on Macklind (4.44 stars/495 reviews) Southampton, 5400 Murdoch Ave, Saint Louis, MO 63109, (314) 553-9994.
With so many wonderful cafes available, there were a few more we wanted to share with you.  These are some of our favorites that didn’t quite make the top 10, but offer something truly special. Honorable Mentions go to:
Mauhaus Cat Cafe (4.44 stars/50 reviews) Maplewood, 3101 Sutton Blvd, Maplewood, MO 63143, (314) 384-2287.  As the name suggests, this is a cat cafe.  It’s the only one in St. Louis.  It’s comfortable place to relax, pet cats, and enjoy a good cup of coffee, tea, or an espresso drink and a light snack.  The cats get a lot out of the socialization, and they are all adoptable, so if you fall in love, you can apply to take one home.  Walk-ins are welcome, but may have to wait for a spot to open up, so reservations are encouraged.
Fiddlehead Fern Cafe (4.57 stars/23 reviews) Shaw, 4066 Russell Blvd, Saint Louis, MO 63110, (314) 972-2637. New in 2017, this bright, airy space is inviting, with plenty of natural light, and the wonderful aroma of Coma coffee—even though there’s no sign of a coffee machine or pot.  This inspired cafe uses a new modular, below-counter coffee brewing system that allows the baristas to make each cup to order—it just doesn’t get any fresher than that.  Light fare includes baked goods, like buttery scones and an assortment of toasts.  Customers can’t get enough of the avocado toast.
Grove East Provisions (4.55 stars/47 reviews) Tower Grove East, 3101 Arsenal Street, Saint Louis, MO 63118, (314) 802-7090.  This little corner shop is part cafe, part bakery, and part corner store–a European-style bodega.  You can literally grab lunch, and everything you need to make dinner in the same stop, including the wine or local craft beer.  Customers love the pressed sandwiches (on bread by Union Loafers), fish tacos, and homemade chicken noodle soup.  The weekend brunch and wood-fired pizza also get high marks.
