there's something so crazy about reading a book and from the language having the impression it's set in a certain period, and then here come the words 'video games' to give you mental whiplash.
#i just don't think you should use the word 'sanatorium' and 'ticket-franking machine' if you're writing a novel set in the 90's#or at least you should mention the video games in the first page#a mobile phone a pager a walkman anything! not wait 20 pages#i thought this was set in the 1910's!
