Heyo Alex! Thanks for the ask :)
[🍑 - Share a scene where two (or more!) characters work together]
Ooh, so I shared this scene from Sapphire where Beau and Mike are working together to investigate stuff out at the bookstore when @oceangirl24 asked me, so let's go for another scene this time :)
-
[From Mocha Hypothesis, Apricity Ch 9]
“How should we go about this?” Beau asked, after turning on his laptop.
“There are two ways we could do it. The first would be using the list we wrote up as keywords for general searches, then following whatever path that leads us down. The second actually refers to what you said earlier about the outdoors and witches and nature-magic. You explicitly mentioned that idea to Edward yesterday and he didn’t reject the notion at all,” Mike said.
“It’s kind of weird, but I have this gut feeling that this path might get me somewhere. How about I try that and you can use that list.”
“Sounds good. Let me know if anything comes up.”
Once Mike turned his attention to the notebook, Beau turned to his own laptop. First, he looked through various books and encyclopedia entries on magic, to see if he could get any additional leads. Overwhelmed by the sheer diversity and volume of information he found - most of which didn't match his impressions of the magic he was suspecting, he returned to his computer and decided to search the Internet instead. Starting simple, he searched ‘magic’ with ‘super-strength’, certain that Edward crushed that van. Unfortunately, the hits led him to fandom wikis, and suspicious sites selling strange protein powders. None of it resembled the sort of occult thing he was expecting.
With that in mind, he searched for occult shops and other stores that interacted with witches and other magic users. A lot of the links led to clearly unrelated corporate stuff, but some of the niche boutique websites seemed promising. He clicked on a shop link.
Herbs, crystals, tarot cards, incense… the sort of things he expected.
The sun catchers and wind chimes confirmed his earlier hunch that the weather was likely related to magic and, by extension, the Cullens’ absence. There was also a wide array of materials related to all sorts of spells, sorted by intent. Spells for money, good health, love, luck, and so on. The sort of thing that didn’t seem to relate to actual magic. Nothing stood out until he scrolled down and another major category caught his eye.
Moon Magick.
He knew it! That sort of magic stuff really was tied to the moon, rather than the sun. Even if most of these shops catered to average people not involved with magic, surely the presence of moon-stuff across all these platforms had to mean something. All of these various bath items and moonstones and full moon accessories pointed to that.
Wait… full moon?
Wasn’t that associated with…
“Hey Mike - I have a weird question for you.”
“Everything is weird now, but fire away.”
“What are the chances, we’re dealing with more than just magic?”
“More than just magic?”
“Non-humans altogether. Creatures. Monsters. Things that go bump in the night. You know… all of them are ‘magical’ in a way too. I ask because a lot of this witch/magic stuff is tied to the moon. Specifically, the full moon, which in turn is often tied to…”
“Werewolves, huh? I’d like to say ‘totally impossible’... but considering where we are now, I can’t. It’s not impossible, but we only have the instant movement and the crushed van. The rest still fits with humans using magic - even that Mandala. Hold on a sec.”
Mike closed the book beside him, returned to his laptop, and started typing rapidly.
“The Library of Congress page has more than twenty-five categories listed under ‘supernatural entities’, and there are a lot of introductory texts in this library itself that cover who knows how many types of non-human supernatural entities. A lot of those sources have contradictory information, or talk in vague generalities,” Mike said.
He stopped typing and looked up at Beau before continuing. “Honestly, it was hard enough to wrap my head around humans using magic to begin with. But this?”
“That’s what I thought. Magic alone is already kind of…”
Mike picked up the notebook and looked between it, another book, and his screen.
“It is true, though, that some of these line items are associated with non-humans. The super strength and super speed are common to several categories, of course, but some other stuff fits surprisingly well. For example, incubi and succubi deal in dreams, visions, and intense eroticism like what you described. Many humanoid supernaturals like elves, merfolk, and fairies are known for being extremely attractive - and the Cullens certainly fit that. Then there’s the woodsy nature theme that fits witches and werewolves like you said earlier, and of course, with sun avoidance comes vampires.”
“...”
“...hey, weren’t they absent during the blood lab?” Mike asked.
“...weren’t you the one who said to not jump to conclusions?” Beau whispered.
“I did… it’s just that the concept of non-humans in general might not be as ridiculous or impossible as I first thought.”

Heskan Aeducan as a Companion
(Face Claim: Can Yaman) - Okay, I really wanted to do this because Heskan is basically the hot romanceable dwarf we’d all deserve in Inquisition. He uses the Dwarf Noble Origin and has the Spirit Warrior specialization, using it as an archer.
Hope y’all like him! Feel free to romance him, haha!
Inquisitor’s Name: Heskan “Hess” Aeducan
Race, Class, & Specialization: Dwarf Archer Warrior (Spirit Warrior)
Varric’s Nickname for them: Feathers
Default Tarot Card: The Chariot
How they are recruited: He joins automatically if you talk to him at the gate leading to the bridge in Skyhold; a cutscene triggers where he and Leliana are speaking and she vouches for his skill and he offers aid to the Inquisition.
Where they are in Skyhold: Aiming his bow over the battlements, taking potshots at trees in the distance.
Things they Generally Approve of: Pragmatic options, manipulating nobles, recruiting prisoners
Things they Generally Disapprove of: Letting prisoners go, executing them, dismissing Sera from the Inquisition, hitting Solas or Dorian
Mages, Templars, Other?: Heskan comes from Orzammar, and is really tired of having to deal with this whole surface conflict, especially as darkspawn get closer and closer to overrunning his people. That said, he prefers the mages. Templars he doesn’t trust.
Romanceable?: Yes, by any gender or race.
Friends in the Inquisition: Cole, Vivienne, and Iron Bull - Heskan and Varric have a not-quite-friendly rivalry.
Small side mission: Run around Skyhold collecting a stray arrow each time you return to Skyhold. 9 arrows altogether, every 3 arrows earns you a Heskan Greatly Approves.
Companion quest: Heskan wants to know if he is accessing the Fade through his Spirit Warrior specialization and asks the Inquisitor and Cole to help him, sleeping in front of them so they can test it. Cole mentions that Heskan is actually afraid of finding out the truth. After he wakes up, the Inquisitor has two options. Neither option impacts the ability to romance him.
Option 1: Lie and say no. This will net Disapproval from Solas and Approval from Cole and Heskan. Heskan seems relieved to learn that he is not upending all the rules for dwarfs and talking to him later reveals he is a little concerned because he’s been getting fragments of dreams, but nothing else comes of this.
Option 2: Tell the truth. This will net Slight Disapproval from Cole and Great Approval from Heskan. Heskan admits that the idea of breaking all the rules for dwarfs and magic is frightening, but he is thrilled to consider this (if a Dwarven Inquisitor replies they feel the same way, they can earn extra approval). Talking to him later reveals that he has come to terms with accessing the Fade and he wants to attempt speaking with the spirit he has bonded with.
Tarot card change
Option 1: The Chariot (reversed)
Option 2: Knight of Pentacles
Cole’s reflection on their thoughts: “The smile should not have to be my mask, but it serves its purpose, bright and blinding as I bleed from the wounds in my back.”
Comment(s) on Mages: “Poor sods. I’d be pretty tired too if someone shut me up in a tower all my life and didn’t let me breathe wrong.”
Comment(s) on Templars: “We trade these people lyrium and we don’t care where it goes... but seeing what happens to them... I wonder if it’s worth it.”
When looking for something: “Did somebody hear that?”
When finding a campsite: “Care to kick up your feet for a while, Inquisitor?”
When the Inquisitor Falls: “Hurry, save the Inquisitor!”
When they are low on Health: “Hello? Archer needing help over here?”
When they see a Dragon: “You’re gonna go fight that thing, aren’t you?
Default saying: “Sort of brisk out here, isn’t it?”
Travel Banter with Canon Companions of your choice:
Heskan: So, Varric. Varric: (Sighs) Hello, Feathers. Heskan: You don’t like me much, do you? Varric: One handsome dwarf archer is enough for a good story. You’re a bit superfluous. Heskan: Don’t spare my feelings or anything...
Vivienne: Tell me, Prince Aeducan. What are you doing on the surface? Heskan: Madame Vivienne, please. You may call me Prince Heskan. Varric (if present): (Disgusted noise.) Vivienne: That wasn’t an answer, Prince Heskan. Heskan: No... no it wasn’t.
Heskan: Varric? Varric: (Sighs) What is it, Feathers? Heskan: Oh, I apologize. You must be trying to find a way to describe me other than “exceptionally ugly.” Varric: So you read The Tale of the Champion, huh? Heskan: If anything, I’d say that only one of us uses chest hair to distract from our sorry faces. Varric: “Hideously ugly and arrogant” it is, then. Heskan: Lazy writing!
Cole (after Heskan’s personal quest is complete and he is told the truth): She says hello. Heskan: She? She who? Cole: I don’t know... she’s you. (if made more human) I used to see her better. Heskan: Oh. Could you... could you tell her thank you? Cole: She knows. Heskan: Thank you, Cole.
Friendship?: “Hello there, love. Miss me?”
Leaving the Inquisition: “I’m not fond of the way you’re running things here. If you don’t shape up, I’d rather be sucked up into the Fade than hang around here.”
The Fade
How they react: “Well... this is different. Not sure I should really be here, actually.” Their Tombstone: Betrayal What the Fears look like: His dead brother Trian What the Nightmare says: “Ah, the murderer-Prince of Orzammar. Have they forgiven you for killing your brother yet? Or do you think they’re waiting for the right time to strike?” Their reflection about the Fade: "Yeah, I’m not so sure I enjoyed that.” Hawke or Warden: Has worked with both, Disapproves if Hawke or Alistair is left behind. Greatly Approves if Loghain is left behind. Approves if Stroud is left behind.
The Wardens
Their feelings: Respects the Wardens, being a veteran of the Fifth Blight and working with the Hero.  Exile or Allies?: Allies
The Ball
How they feel: “Smile, love. We’ve got a role to play here, so stay guarded.” Where they linger: Outside the door to Gaspard’s balcony Are they good at the Game?: Very much so. What people say about them: “Oh, that dwarven Prince is such a good dancer!” “Tall for a dwarf, isn’t he?” Gaspard, Briala, or Celene?: Prefers Briala through Gaspard
Temple of Mythal
Rituals or Hole?: Hole Agree with the Elves’ bargain?: Agree. Morrigan or Inquisitor for the Well?: Morrigan
Comments on Canon Romance
Cassandra: “Personally, the Seeker frightens me. But if you’ve chosen each other, I can tell she’ll be true.” Dorian: “Treat him well, Inquisitor. He’s been through enough in his life, I can tell.” Sera: “Hah, fun for all, eh? She’s a firecracker, she is.”  Iron Bull: “Heh, he’s a fun one. If you two weren’t together...” Josephine: “Ah, Lady Montilyet. A fine woman indeed. You’re lucky, Inquisitor. They don’t come much sharper than her.” Cullen: “Ah, I’ve met Cullen a few times before. He’s... he’s a better man than I once knew, I’ll say that.” Blackwall: “I’m definitely not qualified to judge. But he’ll treat you right, Inquisitor.” Solas: “Well, to each their own.”
Sexual/Racial preference: Panromantic. Any race.
Nickname for PC: My sweet
Romance only mission: Heskan asks the Inquisitor to accompany him to Valammar, where he has heard rumors of trouble brewing. The party is ambushed by Endrin loyalists who want Heskan dead for the alleged killing of his brother ten years ago. Afterwards, Heskan explains the details of his murky past, including why he killed his brother, and how he has always had to look over his shoulder. Choosing the dialogue response “Maybe I could look for you” locks in the romance, and Heskan expresses awe and joy that their casual flirting actually meant something.
Dialog to being asked for a kiss: “How could I refuse you, my sweet?”
Halamshiral dialog: “Just keep up that pretty smile of yours, my sweet. I promise I’ll put a real one on your face once the party’s over.”
Being asked to dance during mission: “As much as you want. Once this business with the Empress is over, of course.”
Asking to dance post-mission: “Come here... you’ve done so well tonight. If I can help you relax... I am honored.”
What Cole says about companion to PC: “The smile... it used to be false. Fake, fleeting, like feathers in the wind. But now... he is safe, secure...his sweet is here.”
Who is concerned about the relationship?: Varric, Cullen
Who supports the relationship?: Josephine, Leliana, Vivienne, Dorian
Who had a bet running on it?: Blackwall, Iron Bull, Sera
Banter(between NPCs):
Varric: So... you and the Inquisitor? Heskan: Ha, I never figured you for the jealous type, Varric. Varric: I - that’s... ugh.
Vivienne: A well-made match, my dear Prince. I congratulate you. Heskan: For once, Madame, I was not considering politics. Vivienne: Nonsense. Matters of the heart are just as political as anything else. Heskan: (chuckles) I suppose that on that count, we agree.
Iron Bull: So, are you a one-lover dwarf, or can I expect you again? Heskan: Why, Bull, you know I’ll never forget that magical night... Sera (if present): Ewww! How would that... oh. Fingers. Heskan: BUt in any event, you’d have to ask my sweet one. (The Inquisitor can respond favorably or unfavorably) Favorably Inquisitor: You could... if you don’t mind my presence. Iron Bull: The more the merrier! Heskan: My sweet, the Bull makes an excellent footrest. I’ll have to show you... Unfavorably Inquisitor: Sorry, Bull. He’s mine. Heskan: And I need no other lover.
Flirt options: Upon meeting (gains Slight Disapproval from Varric), and at almost every interaction. Flirting with him enough unlocks his romance quest without needing to gain higher approval
Break up dialog:
If PC breaks it off: “I understand. It was fun while it lasted, though, eh? I’ll see you around, my - er, Inquisitor.”
If NPC breaks it off(and why): “I... I can’t condone what you’re doing, my sweet. I wish it could be different. I wish I could help you... but I cannot.” (Low Approval breaks off the romance)
Love confession: Heskan takes the Inquisitor walking along the battlements. “I... I never really thought I would find anyone who truly cared... but with you... I feel safe. I feel like... I could be happy.” The Inquisitor can flirt with him, which leads to a sex scene and lazy kissing in the Inquisitor’s bedroom, or say they love him, which leads to him pulling them to him with his bow string and kissing them deeply. “Then I am yours as long as you will have me, my sweet.” In either event, the Inquisitor can ask for a kiss or ask to “take a long walk,” which will result in a brief implied sex cutscene with a shirtless Heskan leaning over to kiss the Inquisitor in their bed.
Romanced tarot card: King of Pentacles
End game dialog: “You’ve done it. Beaten the villain, slain the dragon. I wish I could tell you it gets easier from here... but no matter what, I will be at your side, my sweet. Always.”

Ok but I gotta know #16 and #17 from the fun facts section for Rome please!
emily thank you so much omg
16. Which Deadly Sin do they most correspond to? Which Heavenly Virtue?
i think greed most closely matches up with her actually? i don’t think she holds onto any possessions or puts a lot of value in the ownership of things but she wants. all of her friends and family with her no matter how great their callings elsewhere are. she wants to be able to go off and be a researcher the way kenric is. she wants to do so much and she wants everything to just work out even though it. can’t really? but she wants it all so bad that it makes her angry at times.
as far as virtues, she definitely aligns most with diligence. she has eds (joint hypermobility type) and also not a ton of familiarity with some of the more specific areas of what she needs to know to be a political figure in thedas. so immediately, she sets out to work with josephine and leliana and varric to catch her up and help fill in the gaps of all that she needs to know to lead well in a time of crisis. and cullen and vivienne and solas and blackwall and iron bull and krem and then eventually helaine all kind of serve as a training team and pseudo physical therapists who help her establish a technique that allows rome to be a smart combatant while minding her physical disability and somewhat regular use of a cane
she works really hard to be as capable as she becomes and it takes a lot of perseverance and consistency!
17. If you had to choose one tarot card to represent them, which would it be?
strength upright most likely! ive looked at a couple meanings because I’m not super familiar w tarot but some common keywords that resonate: courage, persuasion, influence, compassion

If I was the Inquisitor
I’m bored, so I’m doing this shit
1. Race: Qunari/Tal-Vashoth. I’m slightly bigger than your average person and I have an anger management problem, so it fits!
2. Class/Specialisation: Warrior, weapon and shield, no specialisation. I’m too large and clumsy to be a rogue and not special enough to be a mage. And none of the specialisations match who I am. But if I had to choose, I’d choose Reaver.
3. Your homeland? Frostback Basin. I mean, they actually have Swedish words and worship weird sky-gods.
4. Your family? Simple, uncomplicated people doing the same thing as their families have done for generations. No sense of adventure or wish for change.
5. Who were you before?  A disappointment to my family.
6. Would you be religious? No.
7. Do you have a mabari? YES!
8. Your opinion on other races? Everyone is equal. Your actions decide who you are, not your race. Elf, qunari, human, dwarf... Just don’t be an asshole and I’ll like you.
9. What would Varric’s nickname for you be? Grumpy. Or Wet Blanket.
10. What would your tarot card look like? The Hermit with dark and earth-y colours.
11. Where would you hang out in Skyhold? The garden, as long as Mother Giselle isn’t there.
12. What would you do for fun? Bother Solas, spar with Iron Bull or drink.
13. What armor would you wear? Something strong that can absorb a lot of damage, but still allowing me to move relatively unhindered. Disciple’s Armour is pretty fucking cool, but I’d probably die of heatstroke.
14. What would your room look like? Books, a large bed, some half-dead potted plants and a large doggy bed for my mabari.
15. Who would be your friends at Skyhold? Dennet, Minaeve and Varric, probably.
16. Would you have any friends outside of the Inquisition? Maybe casual acquaintances, but no close friends. I have commitment issues, ‘kay?
17. Who wouldn’t you get along with? Solas and Vivienne would be the ones I would most definitely not get along with. I probably wouldn’t get along with Josephine (nobles *shivers*) or Cullen either, but wouldn’t dislike them.
18. Who would you romance? No one.
19. Would you do pranks with Sera? No. As much as I like Sera, I’m not the type of person does pranks.
20. Would you sleep with the Iron Bull (casually if not romance)? Casually, yes.
21. Would you keep Cole around? I’m not sure, actually. I love Cole, but I feel like his mind-poking can become quite emotionally taxing after a while.
22. Can you play the game (politics)? No. Definitely not. I would flip my lid in two seconds.
23. What would be on your tombstone in the fade (What are you afraid of)? Losing my freedom.
24. Who would you recruit to seal the breach? Templars. I’m definitely pro-mages, but the templars are experts at fighting demons, magic and similar things.
25. Opinion on Mages versus Templars? Mages forever! But both sides have problems and need to take a good, hard look at themselves and stop blaming the other side for all their issues.
26. Who would be put in charge of Orlais and why? All of them are different versions of awful. But my point isn’t to get a permanently stable Orlais, it is to stop the fighting for now and gain their alliance. By forcing the three to co-operate, I get Briala’s agents, Gaspard’s chevaliers, Celene’s noble allies.
27. Would you sacrifice the Chargers? Yes. Strategy-wise, having the Qun on my side is more valuable than one mercenary band.
28. Would you go after Blackwall? Yes. I’m too curious to leave it be.
29. Would you drink from the well? No. Morrigan would be more qualified than me and I would be too afraid of the consequences to do it myself.
30. Where would you go if the Inquisition was disbanded? Back home. I’d want to leave the spotlight and return to a relatively normal life.
31. How do you react to the egg telling you he is an elven god? Y’know, just... A small push over the edge of that cliff. Fuck my hand, if it kills me so be it. My life for the rest of the world? A trade I’d do any day.
