My Sunshine

Summary: Bokuto gets dejected easily but with a few words and affection from you, he will be back to being your sunshine once again.

Pairings: Bokuto Kotarou x Female! Reader

Was it normal to see Bokuto going into dejected mode? Yes, yes it was.

Despite being a ball of sunshine and an energetic owl most of the time, he did act like a child. So if he were to be rejected from what he wanted, be prepared for whatever entailed.

You knew this well, as much as Akaashi, seeing as you were a childhood friend turned girlfriend. You knew how to handle it but apparently, it proved to be futile as he was still pouting and was refusing to talk to you.

Let's just say you were kinda ignoring him when you were talking to a classmate. In your defense, it was about the project that your teacher had just assigned and you wanted to finish it as soon as possible. However, Bokuto being Bokuto, he craves for attention. So when lunchtime rolled by, and you were eating your bento while discussing the project with said classmate, Kasamatsu, Bokuto was having none of it.

The scene before him crushed his heart. Kasamatsu's cheeks were tainted a slight red while he nodded along to whatever you were animatedly telling him. It was not right in every angle he saw it from. You were his girlfriend and that means you were supposed to be spending time with him instead!

He marched towards both of you, dragging a seat from the table nearby and plopping down on it next to you. He spouted something along the lines of what he was doing in class - apparently he was doodling owls on his notebooks - and how he wanted you to see it. You just dismissed him with a "not now Koutaro" which spiraled into his infamous dejected mode. He quietly slipped out with a heavy heart, leaving the both of you alone hesitantly.

When school ended, you planned on walking him to practice. Guilt was eating away at you in class when he was slouched over his desk throughout the rest of the classes. You had attempted to cheer him up by throwing him little balls of notes when the teacher was not looking but that ended with him crushing it before setting it aside on his table.

As you near him, you could sense the gloom radiating off him. His face was pulled into a frown as he packed his school things at a snail's pace. You gently placed a hand on his shoulder, a smile adorning your face but that only resulted in him to pack faster to escape you.

You were torn between to talk to him or hug him. When you were about to say something, he dashed off without any warning. You were frozen to the spot, not knowing what to do.

A huff of annoyance escaped your lips as you shuffled after him. Wrecking your brain for ideas, a light bulb appeared above your head when you passed by the vending machine. Popping some coins into the machine, you bought Bokuto's favourite drink.

You skipped towards the indoor sports hall as you pictured the scene in your head, perfecting it so it would go by without a hitch. However, your mind went into overdrive, insecurities charging into you head on. Your hand hovered the door for a few seconds before you ripped it open, adrenaline in every inch of your body.

The whole Fukurodani team snapped their head towards the screeching sound of the gym doors being opened harshly. Their eyes widened when you came marching in with eyes ablaze. Bokuto released a surprised yelp before pinning his attention elsewhere, avoiding your path of determination.

You huffed in annoyance as you grabbed his arm to make him face you. A pout was adorning his face on top of the more intense gloom clouding him. You planted both your hands on his cheeks so he could not move away from where he was.

"Kou, I may give attention to other people but that doesn't make you less important to me. If I were to choose between you and Kasamatsu-kun, I would, without a doubt and hesitation, choose you. You're my best friend and boyfriend, please don't be upset."

You handed him his favourite sports drink you've bought on the way which tugged a smile on his lips. Afterwards, you planted a kiss on his cheek resulting in his face lighting up like a Christmas tree.

"HOHOHO! Thank you (y/n)! You're the best! Watch me while I show you my ultimate spikes!"

He peppered you with kisses before being called by Akaashi to return to practice. You settled on the bench as he jumped around the court, shouting for your attention every now and then. You could not help but let out a giggle from your owl's enthusiasm.
