so if you're caught up on your cloud lore you know i took a garment construction course this summer so er these are my final assignment pieces. wonky imperfect but wearable and i had a lot of fun and learnt a lot. the dress is a drop waist dress. the blouse is literally just a very super basic blouse. and the skirt is an a-line. so yah. i can sew now (:

Experiments in drawing lava, with the ultimate goal in designing a lava dress. I worked a bit backwards here, first drawing the dress concept, being unsatisfied with the results, and then deciding to try a few ways of drawing lava as tiles.

My method of starting with yellow lines, framing them with orange, and then filling in the black cooled rock was sound, I just made the lines too thick the first time.

In fabric, what I think would work best would be to start with black cloth, embroider yellow cracks, outline those in orange embroidery (perhaps with more cracks of just orange extending further into the rock), and then outline all the embroidery in red (again, perhaps with some red cracks coming off).

It's too bad that glow-in-the-dark yellow has a greenish tint, because that would be a fun addition to this concept.
