(SPOILERS FOR THE LAND OF STORIES) okay so sorta outing myself as a Land Of Stories fan, but who cares the it’s a great book series. So we all know the potion that can make any work of fiction real, and this potion worked on greek mythology. Greek mythology isn’t collectively seen as fiction though, majority does, but accent Greeks, and some people nowadays, see it as real. This is the same as the bible. Not everyone sees it at nonfiction, some see it as completely fiction. Would the potion work on the bible???? Could have the masked man got fucking God on his side???

my nit picky requirements/inspirations for if we ever got a reboot of eah and headcanons #28

these are my personal opinions and yes this is all tomfoolery and foolishness.

we have so much angsty material to work with that if we made it gritty/dark in a similar way to how "euphoria" is I think we can do the angst and genuinely traumatizing aspects of eah justice

it NEEDS to be as camp-y as the movies "BOTTOMS" and "Mean Girls"

early 2000s movies always have such nonsense and iconic outfits and fun plotlines we need that energy to come back

don't act like Daring Charming wouldn't say something adjacent to "I'm sorry I looked at Mrs. Riley and lightly grzed her left tit, alright?" unironically

"She's The Man" walked to Darling Charming could run and I think we should keep that train going

I want the absurdity of "Wild Child" and "Jennifer's Body" and "10 Things I Hate About You" going on at all times

the line "Boo cross out Needy" was made for Briar Beauty to say to her friends when they say they aren't going to a party

overall I believe eah was made for those who grew up in the early 2000s watching "Camp Rock" and the "Hannah Montana" movie and "High School Musical" and then in their teen years ended up watching "euphoria" or "Grand Army"

if we truly put our minds to it we could create a y2k/late 90's style eah reboot or (thought difficult) live action where we still have time to dive into the trauma and the characters go through and also be dramatic and have some filler episodes where they get a breka and can be teenagers

it really is interesting just how much V4 shows of the grimm that blatantly contradicts what we’re told about them during the beacon arc. right out the gate, too, with bricks and complex improvisational teamwork and the beringel’s emotive reactions to its apparent victory and then realization that its opponent survived the fall through the roof all in the V4 short. everything we learn about the grimm in V1-3 comes filtered through huntsmen academy pedagogy and in the first two volumes every significant direct encounter occurs in proximity—whether diegetic or narrative—to a character who explains them authoritatively using the huntsmen model: pyrrha’s philosophical recitation on the nature of the soul and what makes grimm soulless gives context to the initiation, port describes the grimm as demonic monsters before setting one loose in class, oobleck helpfully provides dollops of exposition to fit the grimm of mountain glenn into the framework laid out in V1. by V3, we have a handle on what these creatures are and the onslaught against beacon plays out—almost—exactly as we would expect based on this understanding, with the singular exception that the grimm are clearly shown to be acting as allies to the non-grimm adversaries. (the white fang transports their own fighters and grimm side-by-side without coming to any harm, and cinder speaks to, makes eye contact with, and signals for an assist from the wyvern.) and the narrative reveals salem at the very, very end to imply an explanation for that singular anomaly.

but… beacon falls. in V4 the school environment is gone and we begin to encounter the grimm outside the controlled pedagogical environment of the huntsmen academy and like IMMEDIATELY the narrative starts throwing curveballs. a beowolf gets up on a roof to throw bricks at ruby. the beringel grabs a beowolf and they flawlessly execute a maneuver we’d call a team attack if a duo of huntsmen did it; later the beringel roars in satisfaction when it thinks ruby is beaten and then reacts with surprise and trepidation when it realizes she isn’t. the villagers in V4 shrug off weeks of provocations by a grimm four young huntresses and huntsmen struggled to defeat. jaune looks at the bodies strewn across the wreckage of shion and asks “who killed all these people,” indicating that “the grimm” is not a foregone conclusion—and the answer turns out to be not grimm but bandits. the sea feilong spends an entire day quietly circling beneath the boat, unnoticed, then reveals herself but doesn’t really do anything except roar and snap once at the huntress who shot her while looping over and around the boat itself—never making contact or actually attacking until after she has been fired on and hit repeatedly, and even then focusing her retaliation narrowly on the ship’s weaponry and the huntsmen attacking her. (the WOR ep notes that grimm are territorial; they don’t prey on animals but violent altercations over territory are not uncommon. what we see in 4.3 isn’t a grimm attack. it’s a territorial threat display that escalates because nobody on the boat can tell the difference between a grimm saying “LEAVE” vs one who wants to eat them.) and on the exact opposite end of the spectrum, the nuckelavee has a nest decorated with trophies it’s collected across a decade or more of haunting its neck of the woods: neither a mindless killer nor a powerful old giant with caution borne of self-preservation but an intelligent being who plagued this small region for years out of what seems to be active malice.

over and over and over again, V4 showcases grimm individuality and refutes the huntsmen academy understanding of what these creatures are and why they act as they do. and of course if you watch V1-3 again with the knowledge that the pedagogical lens is limited and inaccurate you’ll notice the small inconsistencies between what is said and what is shown: the ursai yang faces react to her rapid shift in mood with obvious confusion. the deathstalker dodges jaune’s attempts to grab its stinger several times before it either gets bored with the game or isn’t quick enough and rouses itself because it doesn’t like being grabbed. the grimm in mountain glenn know the kids are encamped in the ruin (ruby makes direct eye contact with one through her scope) but ignore their presence in favor of nosing around the ruins. none of the complexity that appears in V4 is really new: it’s just presented plainly, without commentary by an authority figure to elide everything that doesn’t fit inside the clear-cut, morally simplistic huntsmen academy stance that grimm are just an endless horde of soulless evil. and that transition occurs instantly, the minute the narrative leaves the confines of the academy setting.

it’s a neat storytelling choice. hello, welcome to the real world, the grimm are fundamentally just Creatures. they feel pain, and fear. they’re social beings. they’re smart. they aren’t all the same: some of them would prefer not to fight and need to be pushed really far before they’ll resort to violent retaliation and others hunt people for sport. and sometimes they’re not overwhelming existential threats; sometimes they’re just a chronic nuisance bad enough to make you wonder if moving is worth it.

Scarlet easily agreed to continue to stay with Jaune as Yang was approached by the doctor in charge of his case. Stepping away to gain some privacy, the doctor looked at his tablet, with Yang assumed contained Jaune's current medical information.

Doctor: Ms Xiao Long, I understand that I have permission to speak to you about Mr Arc's condition, as you will be acting as a proxy until his family is able to arrive. Is that correct.

Yang: Yes, it is.

Doctor: Very well. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them at any point. So firstly due to the rough penetration he suffered...

Yang: Wait, was he raped?

Doctor: Yes, his injuries are consistent with a sexual assault, and from the information provided by the young man that came with him, it is the case. Due to that insertion, he has suffered several Rectal tears, or Anal fissures.

The Doctor consulted his tablet, before continuing.

Doctor: We will be supplying him with a prescription for a cream that will help with pain, and our Dietitian will provide him with a meal plan that will help with the healing. He will need to expect some blood when he has bowel movements for the first little while. It will be a week or so for these Fissures to heal.

The Doctor once again consulted his tablet.

Doctor: Now Mr Arc has also suffered some blunt force trauma caused injuries, but these have only resulted in external bruising, though the blow to his face did result in a dislocated jaw, which we have already set. Any questions so far?

Yang: So how is he?

Doctor: Aside from the mainly superficial injuries that I have mentioned, he is physically okay, though we did prescribe him sedatives to help him rest. It is, however, his mental health that has us concerned.

Yang: Mental Health?

Doctor: Mr Arc has experienced a rather serious traumatic event. This can cause extreme paranoia, stress and depression. So we are going to suggest he stays for the next few days while we arrange our for our resident Pyschatrist and Trauma councillor to have sessions with him. Any questions?

Yang: How serious could these mental health issues become? Will he need medication? Therapy?

Doctor: We will be prescribing him a sedative to be used for a short period of time, and we do recommend that he does arrange sessions with either a trauma councillor or therapist. We can provide a listing of recommendations, and I am certain that the VPD Victim Services will reach out to him as well.

For one final time, the Doctor consulted his tablet, and after a few finger flicks, he returned his attention to Yang.

Doctor: I should also inform you that we have started him on broad spectrum antibiotic, and he will need to take it as prescribed for the next fourteen days. This is a precautionary measure to prevent the worsening of any possible exposure to a STI. If at any point he develops symptoms related to a possible STI, bring him in, and we will arrange for a more specific treatment.

Yang: How will we know what constitutes these symptoms?

Doctor: We will provide the appropriate literature on that subject. Anything else that is of concern to you?

Yang: Nothing I can think of, aside from when can he come home?

Doctor: Two days. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to speak to the nurse's station and one of our residents will come an address them.

So I had a mental breakdown (Oct 28-Nov 7), moved in with my sister (Nov 8), got a new hyperfixation (Nov 20), expanded said hyperfixation to a man of all people (Nov 22), and left on a 4 month trip (Nov 29)
