I’ve seen children, cats, and dogs. I myself might use a donkey. But folks. Emmrich AU I think we’ve all been missing the most obvious choice for Manfred. And that’s a chimpanzee. Think test subject rescue, or something he personally created in experimentation, make it both. Manfred is unnaturally smart and curious for a chimp and I know chimps are creepy but so are skeletons. He can hiss maybe learn to talk. Play rock paper scissors. A bit human but definitely not quite, whatever they did at the lab is making him develop far past what was expected. He’s got weird green eyes. He’s driving Rook places. Rook is bringing him to bars. He’s making art and running errands.

Emmrich is a Professor at the top of his field look at his weird son not son creation he gave new life to. He is still figuring out what and who he might be and doesn’t know their potential but he treats him with the utmost kindness, treats his guidance as his most important work. Manfred is a marvel.
