Of course your staff had immediately informed you about the display from the day before when you came in the following morning. The barista even showed you a few snapshots he had taken with his phone and as much as you hated to admit it, you would have loved to have been there to see it in person. Pictures didn’t really do him justice, you thought. “Should I send those to you, manager?”, the barista asked with a knowing smirk. When you didn’t say anything but just stoically walked past him into the kitchen, you were glad when your phone buzzed a few seconds later and a small flood of pictures appeared in your chat. You cleared your throat and got to work.
Despite his regular appearances the last couple of weeks, the guy didn’t show up again the next day. Or even the day after that.
“Maybe he actually finally gave up?”, the waitress suggested with a shrug. She was counting the receipts while the barista helped you clean the espresso maker.
“I hope not. What else are we gonna do for entertainment around here?”
“How about your job.”, you suggested.
The barista let out a theatrical groan, which earned him a dish towel to the face.
At this point, a week had passed since the last time you saw the guy and although you found your thoughts wandering to his handsome smile every so often, you decided it was most likely for the better.
It was late in the evening and the café was closed for the day. The sky was gray and obviously brewing up something unpleasant so you wanted to make sure to send your team home as quickly as possible.
Soon enough, after hugs and waves goodbye, you locked the glass door from the inside and went to the kitchen to prep food for the next day.
You had just started to mash up a bowl of overripe bananas when a soft knocking made you look up and glance through the serving hatch.
The wind outside brushed past the shops with a low whistle and you could make out a very familiar shape in the dim light of the streetlamps.
More excited than you’d like to admit you made your way to the door.
“Sorry, I’m late.”, the guy’s voice was muffled through the glass.
You pointed to the Closed sign with a raised eyebrow. He put his hands together in a silent plea.
With a very big eye roll you grabbed the keys from your apron pocket and opened the door a handwidth.
“Hi.”
“Hey there.”
“I need a cake.”
“Goodbye.”, you closed the door again.
“Please!”, he called.
You shook your head and gestured to your ear to signal you couldn’t hear him.
He thought for a moment, then took out his phone and began to type something. A few seconds later he held the screen up against the glass.
Forgot to get cake for friend’s birthday.
You pulled a notepad from your belt and wrote “unfortunate” in response.
Low rumbling of thunder made you both look to the horizon. A few moments passed in which he threw you puppy dog eyes. You sighed loudly and unlocked the door again.
Not a minute too soon. With the click of the lock the first heavy raindrop hit the windowfront.
“Thank you.”, he said with a grateful smile.
“Don’t mention it. But you will have to live with what’s left of the day. The ones for tomorrow still need to be decorated.”
He followed you to the counter, having the decency to look apologetic as you waved him to come along further to check out the cakes in the fridge.
He chose a white chocolate cake with strawberries and you carried it back to the front to pack it up.
“How has your last week been?”, he asked as you worked.
“Uhm, I made my best cinnamon rolls yet and finally found my TV remote. So pretty good, I’d say. How about you?”
“Not as good as yours apparently. Pretty busy. I had to do some traveling and give a bunch of presentations. Sorry I couldn’t come by to bring up that counter you keep on the blackboard.”
You closed your eyes and made an indefinable noise. You'd have to talk to your staff about the concept of discretion.
“Technically, that means I owe you at least one.”
“Oh, please don’t.”
He swaggered closer and, leaning on the counter, considered you for a moment.
You held his gaze, expecting the worst.
“Wait, I… actually forgot what I wanted to say."
You tried not to smile but were betrayed by your pursed lips.
"Gotta be honest, of all your flirting so far that has been the best one."
He gave you a half smile.
"How about you don't see it as flirting. See it as me just being extra friendly to someone extra beautiful."
You scoffed but couldn’t stop a short sort of giggle escaping your lips.
After a moment’s pause he added, now with genuine sweetness, "Go out with me. Just once. I promise it'll be fun. And really, what's the worst that can happen?"
"Where do I even start?"
"Okay. But besides that, the worst that can happen is that we realize we don't have anything in common."
You looked at him, your head slightly tilted in thought.
"Like, what are you doing tonight after work?", he suggested.
"Well, I’m meeting some friends."
"What will you be doing?”
“A museum has a science night we wanna check out.”
“Oh! Really?”, he asked excitedly, dropping his flirtatious manner completely. And sure enough this little piece of information carried you through the subject of scientific fun facts to books to hobbies and so on. The rain had lessened significantly but an hour later he was still there, sitting on a chair at the kitchen island, talking while you worked, peppering in little compliments here and there but keeping it mostly pleasantly fluffy.
When you eventually parted in front of the café, Kuroo hesitated, obviously thinking about how to say Goodbye. In the end you both settled for slightly awkward smiles and went your separate ways.
He had an extra spring in his step as he arrived at the restaurant, incredibly late but incredibly happy. His friend accepted the cake with a tipsy, somewhat off-key belt of “Happy birthday to me!” and pointed to a free seat next to Kenma.
"Someone's looking chipper.", his former setter commented and accepted a slice of birthday cake, “Why did you leave me here alone?”
“You’re hardly alone, Kenma-kun.”, the older one said vaguely, "I had to pick up the cake first. I only remembered when I was already at work."
"So… is it from that little café?"
Kuroo shrugged, but was unable to hide a grin.
His friend lifted a brow. Originally, Kuroo hadn’t meant to talk about it. About how he didn't expect you two to actually have so much in common, about how funny you were, how smart and how gorgeous you looked even after a long day at work. How you practically made him beg to get into the café at all and how easy it was to talk to you once the ice was broken. It took him a few minutes to finally stop gushing.
"Sounds like a very promising night.", Kenma said approvingly, hoping he’d finally be free of his friend’s whining about why you wouldn’t go out with him, "So you got her number, then."
Kuroo's dreamy expression fell at once. "Oh.”
The sun glistened on the streets still soaked from last night’s rain but the air smelled fresh and you hummed to yourself when you thought about the previous evening. As you unlocked the cafe’s front door you heard someone calling your name and turned around.
Your stomach dropped when you spotted Kuroo on the other side of the road, waiting to cross safely.
“Good morning.”, he said, a little out of breath but with a winning smile.
“Good morning. What brings you by so early?”
“I have a full day today so I wouldn’t be able to come by otherwise.”
You tried hard not to look too pleased.
“I was wondering, if - I mean, I forgot to - Could I have your number?”
Pretending to think about it, you opened the door.
“Do you want that on a to-go cup?”
“That would be easier to brag with.”, he said, nodding thoughtfully and stepping in behind you.
While you prepared his usual, Kuroo watched you closely and you weren’t sure if the pink in his cheeks was from his jog here or something else.
When you handed him his tea a few minutes later he stood there, looking you up and down with his cheeky grin.
You squinted in suspicion.
“You look even cuter than usual today.”
“Get out before I charge you double.”
He lifted the cup and winked. “Talk to you later.”

All week long Nick was on a mission. His mission? To throw the best surprise birthday party for his talented and gorgeous girlfriend. Despite having been together for such a short period of time, Nick wanted to go all out, to show her he cared and how much he loves her. Nick casually asked about what her preference of cake was at the end of last week. He wanted to be prepared ahead of time so he could make sure everything was perfect. He called up all her friends and some of his as well.
He asked for a few of her friends to get her out of the house for the day so he could decorate. About an hour into it Nick realized he needed help if he wanted to get this done on time. So called up the one person he could always count on — his brother Matt.
The two brothers worked together in hanging a banner and streamers. “Something’s missing.” Nick stated as he took in their progress. He went through his mental check list. Banner? Check. Streamers? Check. Balloons? Nick’s eyes darted around the room. No balloons. “The balloons are missing. Did you get them on your way here like I asked?” Nick spun on his heel to face Matt.
“Yes, Nick. I got the cake too.” Matt rolled his eyes. Matt wasn’t really that annoyed, he just liked giving Nick a hard time and what better way than stressing him out?
Nick froze. The cake! The most important part of a birthday party! How could he have forgotten? Thank God for Matt’s thinking because Nick’s was everywhere all at once. “Thanks. I can’t believe I forgot.” Nick mentally kicked himself for almost ruining the party. The party he was dead set on making perfect because his girl deserved perfection. To him, she was perfection.
“Don’t mention it.” Matt shrugged. “I’ll grab the balloons from the car. The cake is the fridge.” Matt called as he exited the living room and went out the front door.
Let’s have a look at this cake. Nick opened the fridge and there sat the cake on the middle shelf in a pink box with a clear plastic window to view the top of the cake. Nick set the cake on the kitchen island across from the fridge. Perfect.
Matt helped Nick place clusters of balloons in various places around the living room and move a few pieces of furniture around to accommodate for the guests.
The boys took a step back, admiring their work. The room looked ready for a party and the timing couldn’t have been any better. The doorbell rang indicating the first guest had arrived. “Thanks for helping me, Matt. It means a lot.” Nick thanked his brother once again, his hand on the doorknob.
Matt waved off the compliment. “It’s what brothers are for. Plus she’s a cool girl and makes you happy, and as mushy as it sounds, that’s all I want for you.”
Nick smiled at that and opened the door. A small group of her friends had arrived, gifts in hand. “Hey girls, come on in. The gifts can go on the kitchen island next to the cake.” He stepped aside and let them enter.
Soon the whole living room and part of the kitchen was filled with people and gifts. A text from Nick’s phone caught his attention.
From: Laken
On our way back. She’s getting suspicious.
Nick quickly got everyone’s attention and gave them go ahead to hide. He flicked the lights off and minutes later a car pulled in the driveway. He was beyond glad he remembered to have the guest follow the driveway on around behind the house to park. He could hear her asking about why the lights were off and getting the response that maybe he forgot to pay the light bill. Laughter followed and he couldn’t help but quietly laugh too, shaking his head.
Keys jingled outside the door, then the keys turned and unlocked the door. It opened and suddenly the lights were flicked on. “SURPRISE!!!” The whole room erupted with cheers and confetti fell from confetti poppers.
All the running around and pretending to forget her birthday was worth it when Nick saw that reaction, shock mixed with disbelief and overwhelming happiness. “Did you really think I’d forget my girl’s birthday?” Nick teased, wrapping her up in a tight embrace followed by a tender kiss. “Let’s party birthday girl! There’s a cake over there just waiting for you to make a wish and blow out the candles.”
Nick was pleased with himself as he watched the love of his life eat cake, dance, and open gifts. The only thoughts crossing his mind was how in this world was he going top this party next year but most importantly, how they would celebrate later, just the two of them.

Happy Birthday
(from the Flatmate Series)
...in which Y/N throws Harry a surprise birthday party, but Harry ends up making her cry.
This story took place before Y/N and Harry discovered their feelings for each other.

.
.
Harry hated birthday parties.
He didn’t have a terrible childhood as everyone might assume, he just thought birthday parties were flashy. A bunch of people gathering around you to sing a stupid song while you stood there like an awkward fool, waiting for the song to end to make a wish that would never come true. If that wasn’t flashy, what was?
Harry’s last birthday party was in third grade. And he couldn’t remember what happened except for his parents inviting a bunch of kids from his class, most of whom didn’t even like him and only showed up for free food. That was the reason Harry had sworn to let nobody know his actual birthday.
This took place a couple of months ago, it was Y/N’s turn to do the laundry, and by accident, she found Harry’s ID card in his pants pocket and discovered his date of birth. He didn’t know that she knew and she wasn’t planning on telling him. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to throw him a surprise party which she had planned one month prior to the special day.
“Harry hates birthday parties. And he’s gonna hate you for this.” Niall stood with his arms crossed and his back against the fridge, watching Y/N struggle with flour and raw eggs to follow this birthday cake recipe she’d found online. She was practicing to make a real one for the party this weekend. Her last three trials had all failed miserably but she was never the kind of person who gave up so easily.
“If you think this is a bad idea then why are you helping me?” She grumbled. Her tongue stuck out from the corner of her mouth as she turned on the egg-beater to mix the ingredients in the big bowl, careful not to spill the mixture all over the counter like last time. Niall couldn’t help but snort at how funny she looked.
“I want to see his reaction,” he said.
“But you’re his best friend. You should be the one to throw him a birthday party, not me!”
“Yeah, I’m his best friend and that’s how I know he won’t like this. I’m only helping you because there’s free cake, and very likely, a pissed-off Harry.”
Y/N rolled her eyes. She believed no one could hate his own birthday this much. Birthdays were supposed to be the most important events of one’s life. She was always so excited about hers, just thinking of all the gifts and special treatments from her loved ones made her the happiest already. Maybe Harry had never properly experienced something like that, to realize how fun birthdays could be. Thus she determined to throw the best party ever for him, of course, with a little help from Niall.
Meanwhile, Harry was sitting in a coffee shop on campus, having no idea that his flatmate and best friend were secretly planning a surprise party for him. He had to study on a Sunday because there was an exam coming up, and he couldn’t concentrate with Y/N breathing down his neck. She would either tell him stories he found no interest in, or nag him about doing chores and complain when he forgot. Harry didn’t hate his flatmate, she could be fun occasionally. Sometimes when he’d had a bad day, listening to her dumb facts about whales during dinner actually boosted his mood. But that was just sometimes, most of the times, he found her annoying.
“Here’s your drink.”
The soft voice got Harry’s attention, and his green eyes shifted up to see a pretty waitress. He’d come to this place many times before, but he had never seen her. He doubted he‘d forgotten such an attractive human being.
“Are you new?” He spoke as the girl put his black coffee down right by his laptop.
“Yeah, this is my first day here.“ She gave him a flirty grin while he was sizing her up. She must love the attention, he assumed. Without waiting for her to go on, he introduced himself and asked for her name.
“Alyssa.”
“Alyssa,” he repeated, smiling as her fingers ‘accidentally’ brushed against his arm. She didn’t need to tell him how much she wanted him to take her on this table. Her body language already gave herself away. As he watched her leave, there was only one thing on his mind: he needed to have her, one way or another.
Harry came back in the afternoon, looking very happy, which was unusual to Y/N. The first thing he would always say when he entered their flat was either “I’m tired” or “is there anything to eat?” So when he was this elated, there must be something wrong with him, or with the world. And so she had to ask. His reaction, however, wasn't something she could've seen coming.
“Why do you suddenly care about me?” He grumbled instead of giving her a proper answer. His eyes were glued to the phone, not sparing her a single glimpse.
“Just curious, that’s all,” she replied, indifferent on the outside, disappointed on the inside. She wished he knew she’d spent most of her Sunday in the kitchen, trying to figure out how to make him a cake. The least he could do was try not to be so rude. Oh well, he would find out eventually, until then, she would just have to tolerate.
.
.
.
“Who’s Y/N?”
Harry flinched when Alyssa mentioned the name, that was when he saw the text on his phone that said: We‘re out of eggs.
“I just bought some yesterday, did she really finish them all?” He muttered under his breath. For a second, he forgot that Alyssa had to ditch her shift to sit here with him. He should be talking to her, instead of writing a whole paragraph to tell Y/N that she should only consume three eggs a week. Even he couldn’t explain why he must worry. When it came to Y/N, he just did.
“Is she your girlfriend?” Alyssa asked as she noticed the change in his expression. It was then that Harry put the device down, shaking his head. “No, she’s my flatmate.”
“So you’re living with just her?”
“Yeah.”
Although the girl said nothing else, Harry could guess what was on her mind. “There’s nothing going on between us,” he quickly added. If Alyssa thought he had feelings for Y/N, she wouldn’t want to see him anymore, and he couldn’t let that happen.
But her next comment was what he would never expect. “It’s funny.” She laughed. “A guy, and a girl, living together. You‘ve never looked at her and wondered if it could be something more?”
Harry snorted as he shook his head no. Him and Y/N? Pssst. Only when pigs fly.
“I’d love to meet her,” Alyssa said, causing Harry’s eyes to grow wide. None of his past hookups had ever asked to meet his flatmate, so he wasn’t sure how to respond. But on second thought, Alyssa wasn‘t another hookup. They hadn’t had sex, and he was genuinely interested in her. He hated to admit, but he was expecting something more than just casual sex. Of course, he thought she was attractive and definitely still wanted to her naked in his bed. But she felt different from the others, and he’d like to see how far this would go.
“You can come to my flat sometimes, and I’ll introduce you two to each other,” he said after thinking twice, watching the smile grow on Alyssa’s face.
“How about this Friday night?” She asked, and he agreed.
“Friday night it is.”
.
.
.
One week had passed in a blink of an eye, and Harry’s birthday finally arrived.
Y/N placed the last candle on the cake she’d spent hours in the kitchen on making. She secretly prided herself on how it didn’t look like a pile of vomit, nor taste like one. Now she couldn’t wait to hear Harry’s comment on it.
She knew he would go to that coffee shop to study like he’d been doing this entire week. So as soon as he left their flat in the morning, she got the ingredients ready, and phoned Niall to make sure there wouldn’t be just the three of them at the party. When she finished preparing the food, she had to run out to buy the decorations. Of course, she didn’t get any help from his friends, so she had to decorate the flat all on her own. Her hard work did pay off though. Everything was now ready for Harry to come home.
She asked him when he would be back and he said at around 7 PM. Now it was 6:45, the guests were all here and Y/N was extremely nervous. She felt like she was going to war when it was just a party. She had thrown surprise birthday parties so many times before. What made his so different from the others? She would love to figure that out, but at a different time. Now she must make sure everything went as planned.
“Martin just texted me saying Harry is in the parking lot. He’ll be here any minute. Remember not to make a sound, everyone! When he opens the door, we’ll turn the lights on and shout happy birthday, okay?”
“Why are we here again?” A guy whispered to Niall, and Niall shushed him immediately. As soon as Y/N turned off all the lights, everyone got into their position and put on their party hats. Y/N stood right by the door with both hands on her heaving chest. She couldn’t wait to see the look on Harry’s face when he saw everything she’d set up for him.
The lift finally arrived and Harry stepped out, followed by Alyssa. He checked his phone but there was no message from his flatmate. He’d texted her about Alyssa coming over, and it wasn‘t like her to not reply in less than three seconds. Still, he didn’t think much of it and assumed she was just busy making dinner or taking a shower.
“So before I meet Y/N, tell me a bit about her,” Alyssa spoke up when Harry pulled out the keys.
“Well, I don’t know," he murmured. Nobody had ever asked him this question before, so he had never thought of how he would answer it. “She’s quite…annoying, I guess. She always speaks too much. Sometimes I only pretend to listen because I don’t want to be rude. And she’s very uptight, not someone I’d hang out with, you know what I mean?” He shrugged and turned the key. “I’m only living with her because she pays half the rent. If it weren’t for the money, I-“
That sentence was forever unfinished because the first thing Harry saw when he opened the door was the hurtful look on his flatmate’s face. The lights came on. Niall and many of his friends were standing in the living room with balloons in their hands. And there was a whole freaking cake on the table. This was a nightmare come true, but nothing could be worse than the look Y/N was giving him.
“Well, this is awkward...” Niall spoke but nobody paid attention to him. All the guests were waiting for Y/N’s reaction to what Harry had just said about her.
“Y/N, I-“ He stuttered, but she didn’t want to wait for his insincere apology. She pulled off her hat, tossed it in a corner, and stormed off without a word to him. It took him two seconds to realize what had happened and hurriedly follow her
“Okay, the party’s over! Get out everyone, get out!” Niall clapped loudly to get people’s attention. Then he forced everyone out of the flat, holding the door open for them. “Trix, stay away from those cupcakes! Okay, fine, you can have one! Just one! Hurry! Jake, why are you still standing there? Move it! And you too, the pretty lady I’ve never seen before!”
Alyssa was probably the most confused when Niall kicked her out with the rest of the guests. But since Harry was nowhere to be found, she had no choice but to leave with the others. Niall was the last to go, after that, the flat became too quiet. Not even the fun and colorful decorations could tone down the gloomy atmosphere within the place.
Harry hesitated at the kitchen door as Y/N stood with her back facing him. She was cleaning the mess she’d left on the counter after making the cake. At first, he was just surprised, but soon guilt began to sink in. He didn’t expect someone to even remember his birthday let alone spend time on doing all of this for him. What had he done for her in return? He’d talked shit about her to another person and embarrassed her in front of his friends. Now she didn’t even want to look at him. It didn’t just stop there though. It got much worse.
“Are-Are you crying?” Harry was terrified to see her shoulders tremble. “Y/N, I’m really sorry about what I said, I-I didn’t mean it.”
His flatmate finally turned around. And yes, she was crying. This was the first time he had seen a girl other than his sister or his mum cry, and no word was awful enough to describe this situation. He wanted to comfort her, to make her stop, yet he didn’t know what to do but stand there, feeling like a piece of shit.
“I’ll move out...so you can find a better flatmate if...that’s what you want,” Y/N sobbed into her palms. Her words made his chest tighten and freeze him to the spot.
“Of course that‘s not what I want. I said the stupidest things, but I meant none of-“
“I’m going to bed now,” she cut him off and ran back to her room without a single look at him. When she slammed the door, he was still standing in the kitchen. Blood had drained out of his face, and his heart was pounding so hard he forgot to breathe. What to do now? Should he knock on her door to beg for her forgiveness? Or should he wait outside for her to come out? Or should he do nothing and expect her to let this go? He didn‘t know the answer. All that he knew was that he’d fucked up.
Harry returned to the living room after what seemed like an eternity. In silence, he took a seat on the sofa, eyes on the birthday cake that Y/N had made for him. Sighing, he grabbed the lighter to light up one candle in the middle.
“Happy birthday, asshole,” he mumbled to himself, then blew it off.
.
.
.
The next morning, Harry waited right outside Y/N’s bedroom door to greet her with a huge smile while wearing a birthday hat. He didn‘t expect much, but she gave him nothing at all, not even a twitch of her lips to show that she was amused. She stayed silent and pushed him aside to head to the kitchen. For the first time, he followed her like a lost puppy.
Y/N stopped as she reached the door, startled to see the cake she’d made lying on the table. Harry, now standing next to her, spoke up fast, “I think it’s not too late to celebrate my birthday.”
She inhaled deeply, not looking at him. “I made that cake for you. Eat it alone.”
“I can’t. It’s a huge cake!”
“I’m not eating with you. That’s that.”
As she attempted to walk, Harry immediately blocked her path, spreading his arms and legs so she had no choice but to face him. Y/N didn‘t give in, and neither did he. She moved to her right, and he shifted to his left. They shuffled back and forth a couple of times until she lost it and finally yelled at him. “Oh my God! How old are you? Six?! Get out of my way!”
“Please forgive me!” He clutched her shoulders before she could turn away. “You know I didn’t mean what I said...”
“I don’t care if you meant it, you still embarrassed me in front of your friends.” Y/N pushed him off, crossing her arms as she furrowed her eyebrows at him. Harry hoped she wouldn’t burst into tears again, otherwise, he’d have to dig himself a hole.
“You have no idea what I went through to throw you that party, Harry,” she spoke at last. Her voice was small yet stern. “I spent the past week learning how to make a birthday cake, decorated the house on my own, I had to spend a lot of time with Niall.”
“I told you I never celebrated my birthday. You didn’t have to throw me a party...”
“I know.” She nodded. “But I wanted to, and I started planning one month ago. I just thought...if I could make you feel special on your birthday, then maybe you wouldn’t hate it so much.”
As a response to Y/N’s confession, a tiny oblivious smile spread across Harry’s face. In that instant, he forgot that he looked silly in this birthday hat, that he was supposed to hate everything she had set up for him, including that birthday cake on the table. None of that mattered now that he had heard those words from her lips.
“Why are you smiling? I haven’t forgiven you yet.” Y/N’s voice brought Harry back to reality. “I’m still extremely pissed at you!”
“How many times do I have to apologize?”
“Your apology won’t make me feel better.”
“Then what will?”
“This.”
Right before he could question, she smashed a fistful of cake directly in his face and cracked up when he wiped away the frosting on his eyelids. But the sound of her laugh made everything better. He licked the cream on his lips and exhaled a chuckle. “Okay, I deserve this…am I forgiven?”
“Not yet!” Y/N cackled as she grabbed her phone and snapped a quick shot of him wearing a birthday hat and covered in cake. Despite the discomfort, Harry still posed for the picture with his iconic peace sign that she always made fun of.
“Now you’re forgiven.” She checked the photo, grinning like a Cheshire Cat and told him this would go on her Instagram. To be honest, she could send that photo to her whole contact list and he couldn’t care less. The cheerful Y/N he knew had returned, and Harry hoped this time she wouldn’t leave away ever again.
.
.
.
“I think there’s still a bit in my hair.”
“You can wash it off later.” Y/N giggled and wiped his chin one last time before tossing the paper towel into the bin at her feet. “Done. You’re good to go.”
“Thank you.”
His response made her snort. “Why? I was the one who caked you.”
“No, that’s not what I meant.” Harry swallowed, scratching the back of his head. “Thank you for throwing me a surprise party. That was very nice of you.”
Those words sounded so simple, but as soon as he’d said them, his entire face turned scarlet. He looked away so she wouldn’t notice. Little did he know, she was also blushing. This was the nicest they’d ever been to each other, so in no doubt, a ‘thank you’ was a big deal to them.
“Why did you say the things you said about me last night?” She asked after a moment of awkward silence and avoiding eye contact. Harry heaved a sigh, now he had to tell her the truth or else she’d continue to think he hated her.
“Remember the girl I brought home last night?” Y/N nodded. “Yeah, I’ve known her for a couple of days now. The other day she found out I was sharing a flat with you, and she suspected there was something going on between us. She didn’t seem to believe me when I explained, so I had to convince her that I hated you. If I’d known you were behind the door, I wouldn’t have said it...I was such a dick...”
Y/N couldn’t decide which shocked her more, her flatmate admitting that he was a dick, or him possibly having feelings for a girl.
“Do you like this girl, Harry?”
“I don’t know...Maybe.”
“It’s okay if you do. That’s just human nature.”
Harry quickly rose from his chair and told her he was done with this conversation. When he turned away, however, she stopped him immediately.
“There’s one more thing. Stay put and I’ll be right back!” She said with excitement and ran out of the kitchen, leaving him dumbfounded. Only twenty seconds later, she returned, this time, holding a new pair of socks, and not just any pair of socks, they were Batman socks!
“Happy birthday! These are for you!”
Harry scoffed when he saw them, almost bursting out laughing but he didn’t want to hurt her feelings.
“Batman?” He grinned at her, making the poor girl flustered as her eyebrows knitted together. “You don’t like them? Niall told me you’re obsessed with Batman.”
“Do I look like I’m obsessed with Batman? How many times do I have to tell you not to trust Niall?” He said with a chuckle, his heart fluttered when he saw her pouting face. The last thing he wanted was to disappoint her again, so he threw on a smile, tapping her nose lightly. “Thank you anyway. Definitely not gonna wear these, but at least you got me something.”
“This is the last time I acknowledge your birthday, asshole.” She scoffed and playfully hit him on the arm.
.
.
.
A couple of days later, Y/N walked past a coffee shop and found Harry sitting with another girl. She‘d only seen the girl once before, so she didn‘t remember her face. But even from the distance, she could tell that they were having fun. Were they on a date? The Harry she knew never went on dates. Y/N wasn‘t the kind to stick her nose in other people’s business, but she couldn‘t help it this time. She ended up standing outside looking in for longer than intended. Harry was too busy paying attention to the pretty blonde to notice her. It took Y/N a moment, but eventually she figured it out. That was the one he‘d brought back on his birthday.
They were laughing at something on his phone, and he looked so...happy. The same happy he’d been every time he came back from the coffee shop. And now Y/N knew why. She kept on staring at the two, trying to remember if he’d ever laughed that much when he was with her. No, he had never. And now she began to feel differently. Something inside her didn’t seem right. Her fingers gathered into fists and the lumps in her throats made it impossible to breathe. She didn’t know why, but she didn't like this at all.
Taking a deep breath, she quickly walked away, trying not to overthink, but her mind didn’t want to let her off so easily. Now she couldn’t stop comparing herself to that girl who was a thousand times prettier than she was. No wonder Harry liked that girl…
When Y/N got back to their flat, she couldn‘t rest as her insides were on fire. She was biting her nails and pacing back and forth in her room, trying to make sense of her own emotions, but she could not. She thought about what to say to him, or how she would act when he came back. But he didn’t come back that night. He spent the night with the pretty girl. And for the first time since she moved into this flat, Y/N could barely sleep.
When he returned in the morning, she was in the kitchen making breakfast. It was weird to face him after all the changes she'd gone through in just half a day. She told herself act normal, but while trying too hard, her effort backfired. She ended up rambling on about meaningless things, which probably confused him even more than how excited she'd been to see him walk in.
“Are you high on coffee, Y/N?” He asked, making her blush.
“What are you talking about? I’m perfectly normal!”
Harry didn‘t believe it, yet he only flashed her a smile and changed the subject. “I’m having someone over tonight.”
“Who?” Y/N asked right away, eyes widening. “Is it the girl you told me about?” Please don’t be that girl. Please don’t be that girl.
“No, I won’t see her again.”
“Why? I thought you liked her.”
“I don’t know.” He gave her a shrug. “I thought I did, but after we slept together, I was instantly over it. I blame it on the coffee in that shop, it probably gave me hallucination. I’m never going there again.”
Y/N couldn’t help but chuckle. “It’s not the coffee, idiot. Maybe deep down you were so desperate to know what it’s like to like someone for real, your brain created hallucination on its own.”
Harry squinted his eyes at her, thinking for a second before shaking his head. “Definitely the coffee.”
Y/N rolled her eyes, but she actually felt relieved, and that was something else for her to worry about.
“Hey, need a ride to campus?” Harry’s question pulled her back to reality. She blinked at him, raising an eyebrow when she realized what he’d just asked.
“Why?”
“I’m taking you.”
“Just today or-“
“From now on,” he said with a straight face. “But when I’m skipping class, you still have to take the bus.”
“That means I’m still taking the bus almost every day then.”
“Hey, at least be grateful,” he said but couldn't hold back another smile. Y/N watched her flatmate walk out of the kitchen, and only then did she notice, the face of Batman on his socked feet.

Did Yeojin predict Odd Eye Circle and Eden unit?
In a Loona group chat I’m in a few of us were discussing how Yeojin is the least developed of all the members. Her music video doesn’t seem to have another to do with her individual story either and the entire thing is actually quite strange from the setting of the music video itself to the frog head in the fridge. So I decided to investigate because I feel like BBC wouldn’t just randomly give her an MV with no meaning in terms of Loona even if she was a fetus at the time. Under the read more are some things I noticed that I definitely believe relate to Eden Unit and Odd Eye Circle as well as a few things that possibly represent the 1/3 members and at the end I’ll include some things that I feel are definitely stretches but possible nonetheless and some things I’m not totally sure about. So let’s dive in~
I’ll start with the prediction of the Eden Unit since I see very prominent symbolism for them (Go Won in particular) throughout her MV.
Tumblr media
There are two paintings used in numerous scenes of Yeojin’s music video one of which is the above with Yves’ apple. The other is does not have an apple in it so I think it’s definitely about Yves especially considering there is a lot of Go Won in here too. In this same screenshot we see two chandeliers just like Go Won. Yeojin and Go Won are both scene running from someone too. While many Loona music videos show members running only Go Won and Yeojin show who they are actually running from, (Go Won from Chuu & Yves and Yeojin from the frogman.)
Tumblr media
See? Just like Go Won and the Chandelier is present in both of these running scenes.
Tumblr media
Another one of Go Won’s chandeliers and Yves’ apple again. (I thought the painting on the left wall could be a pineapple but another scene shoes it close up and it’s not.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yet another chandelier and look Yeojin is even wearing a Crown, just like Go Won! (I think someone on here has already pointed this fact out already but here it is again in case you didn’t already see it and no I’m not saying their crowns are the same but pointing out the fact they are both wearing crowns.)
Tumblr media
I already posted this screenshot previously but here it is again. Go Won’s pineapple! Considering all of the other symbolism I really doubt this is a coincidence. The love at the bottom I think MIGHT represent the whole self love theme of the Eden unit or maybe it’s foreshadowing Love & Live/Love & Evil?
Tumblr media
Even Chuu’s strawberries make an appearance! Since a lot of the foods in Yeojin’s MV are sweets; gummy works, those sour fruit roll up type candies, macarons and cakes, it seems like it’s just very out of place to have the only fruits be an Apple, Pineapple and Strawberries, the forbidden fruits of Yves, Go Won and Chuu! I can’t see this as a coincidence.
Tumblr media
I thought this photo (plane ticket?) on the fridge was in reference to the plane in Haseul’s Let Me In music video but actually I believe it’s in reference to the Eden unit. It’s to Rio de janeiro. Want to know what’s in Rio de janeiro? A giant statue of Jesus Christ. It’s called Christ the Redeemer and it looks over the city! I don’t doubt for one second that this is foreshadowing Eden unit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back to the macarons though...in one of the beginning scenes of Kiss Later we can see a bunch of macarons on the table to the right. Notice that they are Heejin & Hyunjin’s color? 2jin sing My Sunday on Yeojin’s album! Heejin also had macarons in her image teasers! There is also a light blue one and the inside is yellow, just like the opening of her music video.
Tumblr media
Let’s move onto Odd Eye circle!
Tumblr media
Not only does the frogman wear purple, but he also hangs upside down in one scene, just like Choerry!
Tumblr media
She then later appears in Choerry’s Love Cherry Motion music video~ Notice how Yeojin’s t-shirt there says “Wanderer” in LCM mv. Maybe that has something to do with her being lost in the forest somewhere?
Tumblr media
Considering that everything in this music video is not real (with the exception of the sweets, I mean look at the sink water, even that is fake.) I find it incredibly odd to have fish in the music video, they don’t play apart in the music video and don’t go with the rest of the scenery. I think it foreshadow’s Jinsoul’s release which features a seemingly endless amount of goldish:
Tumblr media
As for what’s on the fridge, I think the 3 cactuses represent Odd Eye Circle since there are 3 of them and they filmed and shot Girl Front in the desert. They were even pricked by thorns during filming!
Tumblr media
Even the formation and size of the cactuses look similar.... (that’s a stretch lmao but I mean I think it’s kind of funny.) The things I found for KimLip feel like a bit of a stretch so I’m going to put them at the end! Now I’ll put things that connect the other members of 1/3.
Tumblr media
In the choreography ver scenes, the whalls and decor are Heejin & Vivi’s colors. (Again with Go Won’s chandelier)
Tumblr media
In the outside of the windows we see bare trees which are similar in looks to the ones in Haseul’s music video for Let Me In:
Tumblr media
In other parts of Yeojin’s music video we see the outside as a city scape so I think this definitely is supposed to represent Haseul.
Now for the stuff that I’m a bit iffy and can agree are definitely a stretch.
Tumblr media
VERY MUCH REACHING but I think it’s kind of odd to have random canned goods when she seems to be focused on sweets. So I’m wondering if these canned goods are foreshadowing the appearance of the canned cherries in Livie’s music video.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m wondering if the cityscape in the background window has any connection to Sonatine, Yves & Olivia Hye who are all seen in cities and on top of rooftops.
Tumblr media
I know that these are just product placement since they endorsed innisfree (although I’m pretty sure Yeojin didn’t participate in that and it was only 1/3?) I think it’s funny how there are 5 shades of red and we have 5 shades of red when it comes to member colors! Yves is burgundy, Chuu is peach, KimLip is Red, Heejin is a hot pink and Vivi is a rose pink. I think the three on the left match up with Kimlip, Chuu and Yves’ colors the best though.
And lastly two things I can’t really explain but I think are odd enough for mentioning?
Tumblr media
The first is the use of lightening bolts in this scene. I find it really weird because they’re inside (or are they?). This scene looks a little bit like a scene from Singing in the Rain.
Tumblr media
and what happens at the end of Singing in the Rain? It rains! Wonder if they have a connection.
Tumblr media
Lastly, this tile is really odd to me. None of the other tiles are decorated and it seems so out of place. If you look closely enough it looks like four beings (those of Eden?) focusing on something that is in the middle. However, I’m not completely sure, maybe it represents 1/3 who knows.  So I think Yeojin’s music video has actually got a lot of lore and connections in it, it was just too ahead of its time for us to notice them. What do you think?

The Sweetest Summoning
So, who wants to read an AU where Patton accidentally summons a demon with cake frosting? I was thinking about this today, and it made me laugh, so I’m sharing this nonsense with all of you. If anybody wants to add on to this, feel free. It’s just a short thing I couldn’t get out of my head.
Parings: None, it’s platonic. Moxiety, I guess???
Warnings: I mean...none really. Virgil’s a demon, but he’s chill.
Patton hummed happily to himself as he frosted his freshly baked cake. He’d been in the mood for chocolate, and now he was just having fun with the frosting. He had a bunch of different colors, and he was just swirling different designs all over it. Mainly as an excuse to layer on an inordinate amount of frosting, but that was neither here nor there. He added one last squiggle to the end, when the kitchen suddenly became ice cold.
Patton stopped decorating, glancing up at the window. No, it was shut tight and locked. It had been a raw one outside today, windy, rainy and cold, so he’d turned the heat up as soon as he got home. Baking always helped, too. Shrugging a little, he continued his project, happily humming a little tune. He turned around to grab a different color...and jumped back, his heart pounding in his chest.
An enormous shadow loomed menacingly in the corner, and two glowing, purple eyes peered out at him. Every instinct in him screamed run, hide, danger, but Patton was frozen in place. He had no idea what this thing was, but he was terrified.
Virgil huffed to himself in irritation. The first time he’s been summoned in over three hundred years, and it’s this doofy guy who accidentally scrawled his summoning sigil on a cake?! The universe must absolutely despise him. He cocked his head, sizing up his prey. The guy was clearly frightened, and being a Fear Demon that was certainly appealing. What was he even wearing?! Was that cat hoodie over a blue polo???
Patton slowly relaxed as the...whatever it was...didn’t move or do anything threatening. He had no idea what was going on, but, well...it never hurt to be kind! So, he gave it a cheerful smile and waved. Virgil stared. This guy could not be serious.
“Hello! I hope you don’t mind, but you gave me a bit of a fright. What brings you to my kitchen?” Virgil was utterly and completely confused. Why...why was the mortal talking to him?! He was...smiling...and being nice. This was highly unusual. He wasn’t entirely sure what the protocol was for this. In answer to the human’s question, he silently pointed to the cake. Patton’s eyes widened in shock. Cake? The thing wanted...cake?!
“Oh, would you like some? I just finished, and obviously there’s plenty to share. Here, let me cut you a slice.” As he spoke, Patton turned and grabbed a plate and a knife, carefully cutting a healthy piece, then grabbed a fork. He slowly offered it to the shadow, who glanced from the cake to his face and back again, then gently accepted it.
Virgil had no idea how to handle this particular interaction. In all his years, no one had ever summoned him without demanding something of him. This human had obviously managed an accidental summon (his soul was far too pure) and had no idea what he was dealing with. Yet he was still treating Virgil kindly. He should probably be scaring the daylights out of this guy, but...somehow...Virgil just didn’t have it in him to try. It would be way too easy. He contemplated the pastry on his plate, poking it with his fork. He hadn’t eaten mortal food in a very long time. Shrugging, he took a tentative bite.
Virgil’s eyes flew wide at the incredible flavor! This was amazing, the best cake he’d ever eaten in his life. He quickly wolfed down the rest of his portion and looked longingly at the remaining cake. Patton beamed at him, grabbing his plate and cutting another slice. Virgil happily ate more, making little purring noises as he did.
“Well, I’m glad you like it! I’m Patton, by the way. Do you have a name?” Virgil paused, mid bite, and thought for a moment. His voice was naturally quite disturbing for humans to hear, and he really wanted more cake. He shrugged and pointed towards the table. Patton looked down, and jumped a little when the word “VIRGIL” was carved into the wood. That was...disturbing.
“Virgil? Your name is Virgil?” The shadow nodded, and Patton got the impression those violet eyes were amused.  Huh. Well, he had a cake loving shadow monster named Virgil in his kitchen. Add that to the list of thoughts he never thought he’d have in his lifetime.
Virgil almost shook with suppressed laughter. This guy really was too naive! Giving a demon his name? And asking for said demon’s in return? This had to be the oddest interaction he’d ever had. But it was...sweet, in a way. It was pleasant not to be feared or hated. And the quality of the cake could not be overstated.
“What are you, Virgil? If you don’t mind me asking, of course.” Virgil nearly winced at the question. He could always lie. But this guy had been alright so far...screw it. The word DEMON appeared, etched into the table. Patton stared for a long moment, then looked back up at him.
“You’re...a demon?!” Virgil rolled his eyes and nodded, looking anywhere but at the human. Here it comes, the inevitable screaming or badly attempted exorcism.
“How did I manage to summon a demon with cake frosting...?” Patton murmured to himself, looking adorably perplexed. “Well, you don’t seem to be intent on causing me any harm, so I suppose...it’s nice to meet you, Virgil.”
Okay, he was insane. That’s the only reasonable explanation for why a human would be smiling at him, using his name, and not having a total nervous breakdown. Virgil could not believe this was happening. Who WAS this guy???
“Not to be rude, Virgil, but uhhh...I have to go to work tomorrow, so if you don’t need anything else, I think I’m going to head to bed. Are you okay with that?” Virgil blinked slowly, reached out and slid the rest of the cake towards himself, then nodded. Patton laughed, and Virgil’s eyes danced with amusement.
“Yeah, go ahead and finish that off. I’ll see you around, Virgil. Goodnight!” Patton waved and headed up to his room. You would think having a demon eating cake in his kitchen would keep him awake, but oddly enough he drifted right off.
Virgil gleefully finished the cake, then glanced around. This was a nice place. It was warm and cozy. Patton didn’t seem to mind him, and he was so very tired of the screaming and chaos of Hell. He shrugged, then shrank himself down to his other form. Demons could take on several forms, but this was the one he used to make the scrabbling noises in the walls when he was trying to frighten people. The tiny claws were perfect for that, although he supposed if any humans had seen this form they would have laughed rather than screamed. He resembled a dragon, but roughly the size of a house cat. Hardly intimidating. Fluttering his small wings, he swiftly rose to the top of the fridge and settled down, curling up to take a nap. His belly was full and he was tired.
The next morning, a very startled Patton would find a small, hissing dragon on the top of his refrigerator with very familiar purple eyes. Virgil would glare as Patton made breakfast, then gleefully eat the things Patton offered him. Patton would make annoying cooing sounds at him, and Virgil would huff and go back to his shadow form just to make it stop.
Days would turn into weeks, then months, and after a year of having Virgil in the house, Patton glanced at his odd roommate, who was curled up next to him on the couch.
“Virgil? Why did you decide to stay here with me?” Virgil cocked his head, pondering his answer. He had never spoken before, and Patton wasn’t really expecting an answer, but the shadow shifted, and suddenly a much more human face was peering at him from under long purple bangs.
“Because you were kind to me.” The voice was low and distorted, clearly not human, but Patton was so overjoyed that he squealed and dropped the book he was reading on the floor. A smirk slowly spread across Virgil’s face, his eyes dancing with that familiar wicked amusement.
“And you baked me a cake.”

He Goes by the Name H. One [end]
Tumblr media
Author: b0blegum
Pairing: DJ!Chae Hyungwon x Reader
Rating: PG (but who wants their parents to read this with them tho, just read at your own risk lmao)
Genre: Romance
Status: FINISHED
Part: Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - end
a/n this is the longest among all chapters, so be prepared.
He had been a keeper since that night. He'd drive you to your office and pick you up again if he didn't have to go to his office and he'd check on you from times to times, just to make sure you're okay. He even ordered you a delivery foods and send it to your apartment (or his, if you're staying at his when Changkyun wasn't there) & made sure that you have proper 3 meals a day.
Changkyun, who was good at catching things, knew immediately that something was going on between you and his friend and he often teased both of you when you, Changkyun and Hyungwon were lounging at Hyungwon's living room.
He wasn't fine about this, actually he told you that Hyungwon was kind of jerk and had a lot of flings that made him hard to trust and he wasn't wrong, though, remembering what Hyungwon did to you at the first day you met. But as days went by, you somehow found the innocent, nice, playful side of him.
Today was finally his birthday. You had thought for almost a month about this, whether you should go all in and gave him everything for his birthday. Part of you wanted to give him everything but part of you don't, just like when you consulted to Changkyun and his respond was, "Not that all in, please. I don't trust him that much."
But in the end, you decided to just gave him a bit of surprise. You decided to go to his apartment and bake a cake, probably decorated his room and made a surprise.
His apartment was empty, since Changkyun was staying in his father's apartment and Hyungwon was still at work. So you began baking the cake, started from measuring all the ingredients you'll need.
You were totally confident about this, because you've been making cakes and cookies zillion times that you didn't even need the recipe anymore.
"One cup of this... And then the sugar..." You talked by yourself as you poured the ingredients one by one to the large bowl. "Ouh, this smells really good!" You inhaled the strong vanilla scent from the thick dough.
Hyungwon's kitchen was basically a mess now. Flour spreaded on the marbled counter table and lots of dirty bowls piling up at the sink.
"Now let's get this baby to the oven." You smiled widely after you poured the dough to a circular aluminum cake pan. Sprinkled it with a bit of chocolate chips and white chips, hopping it'd melt and add an extra chocolate taste.
You waited  for almost thirty minutes until the cake had perfectly raised and a sweet lingering smell filled in Hyungwon's apartment. It was raised perfectly, not overcooked nor undercooked, just right as you wanted it to be. Then you cut it carefully into a heart shape before you poured a white shiny marble-y glaze allover it, covering every edges of the cake properly.
"Perfect." You said as you put a dark chocolate decoration on top of the cake and put it on the fridge. You ate the leftover and stunned by the taste. You, of course, used a lot of chocolates in it, but it didn't taste that much of a chocolate and you're sure this was the taste Hyungwon would like.
You then began to decorate his whole bedroom. Spreading flower petals on the floor and the bed, where you'd put the cake in the middle.
You still had around an hour before he arrived at home from work, so you decided to made use of that time to shower and put on your short white dress. A dress made of satin, only thigh length long with a low v-neck, enough to expose your cleavage, but not that low that made you look slutty.
"This isn't too much, is it?" You looked at the mirror where you could see the reflexion of your self after you're done putting on the no make-up make up.
It was then when you heard a clicking sound, the sound of the front door opened. It must be Hyungwon.
You adjusted your dress and dusted it to made it fall even more perfectly on your body. Smile plastered on your face as you walked to the door, waiting for him to open the door and hugged him immediately while wishing him a very happy birthday.
"No," he chuckled. "Yeah, you saw her, right? I know she's hot." You overheard him. He must be talking on the phone, since you didn't hear anyone aside the voice of Hyungwon.
"Yeah, my first intention was to fuck her, but..." You felt something weird boiling inside of you. "I don't know," He chuckled again. "Yeah, we've been together for like... Almost a month? No... I haven't fuck her just... I don't know man i—"
"Who wants to fuck who, Hyungwon?" You slammed the door open, made the boy who was still taking off his jacket stop and startled. He hung up his phone immediately and threw it on the couch.
"(Y/n)," he walked closer. "Why are you... Here?" He tried his best to smile.
"Answer me." You brushed off his hands when he was about to invite you for a hug.
"It's..." He looked away for a second. "Nothing."
"Don't lie to me. I heard your conversation." You bit the inside of your cheek. "I should've listen to Changkyun." You whispered to yourself.
"What?"
"Don't what me like that. Tell me if i heard it wrong and all of that convo wasn't about me." He kept silent and ran his fingers through his hair. "That must be about me, then." You put on a sarcastic smile. "Thank you, Hyungwon." You turned away, wanted to go to his room to grab your things and went home, but he managed to grabbed your hand.
"Wait, (y/n). It's not like what you think." You turned to him.
"Oh, yeah? Than you better have a good explanation for that."
Again, he kept silent and could only looked away, didn't dare to look you into the eyes.
"Okay, i'm leaving." You walked to his room, layering your dress with an oversized hoodie you were coming here with and snatched your purse to leave.
He didn't seem to stop you. You could see him from the side of your eyes, he stood there, looking down with one hand rested on his waist and one hand rubbing his face, probably regretting, but whatever he felt, all you know for sure was your own feeling. You felt nothing but angry and disappointed.
"Don't you ever dare to call me." With that you slammed the door behind you.
Hyungwon's POV
That was unexpected. She never came into my house uninvited, but i should've realised today is my birthday and of course she'd surprise me by showing up at my apartment. Of course.
And i just made the most stupid mistake i've ever made in my entire life. I just blurted out my first intention on the phone. Well, that was not actually a mistake since i didn't know she was here, but still...
I just saw her leaving. I could see it clearly she was angry and upset and i knew she hated me by now. I can't stop her because she was right. It was all about her what i said on the phone.
I looked at my phone, hoping that she'd send me a text, cuss words would also be okay since that'd be silly if i expected an i love you, but there was none.
I messed my hair and groaned in frustration. How could i be so stupid to not realising she'd be at my apartment.
I walked heavily to my bedroom, just to see petals scattered all over the room and there was a cake on the bed, along with a card and a box of something next to it.
I didn't realised, but my lips were curved into a smile as i walked closer to my bed and sat at the edge of it. Admiring the beautiful cake she made (i know, because i just know), her cute handwriting on the card and the box that was wrapped nicely with a ribbon on it.
I read the card slowly. I know she poured all of hear hearts into this, judging from the words she wrote.
"I love you, too, (y/n)." I said, answering her 'I love you' on the card.
Then the box. I puliled one end of the ribbon to entangled and opened the box. It was only a bunch of small cards, stacked neatly and clipped with a giant clipper. I questioned myself, wondering what was this things.
I took out one card and found some writings at the back of it.
'Back hug'
"Back hug?" I then took another card to found another writings. "Ask me to buy you something you want." I began to understand what was these cards mean.
I think i shouldn't read all the cards, but i was too curious and took another one from the stacks.
'Make love'
Suddenly, you felt something weird inside you. Your heart beats fast, but not in a good way. You felt like someone was punching you in the stomach and cursed you out.
Make love was something... We've never done. We did obviously sleep together, spent the night together a lot of days, but we never really... Make love to each other.
Not because we didn't want to, no. She even lured me to doing that couple days ago but...
it was just me.
I had the intentions to fuck her out at the first time we met. She was so sexy that it made me hard just by thinking of fucking her, but after i spent days with her, i realised she was different. She was not the girl God made just to fuck me, just to pleased me. She was the one God made for me to love her and i just want to make love to her for the first time at the very special time for her,
On her birthday.
Two weeks for now.
I really want her to feel special on that day.
I want to give her anything she wants on that day.
But i ruined everything and she left.
Two weeks passed by and Hyungwon was a literal definition of a mess in that times. He missed a lot of shows and often seen drunk.
Medias had been spreading a lot of rumours about him. Started from he was caught drunk-driving to smoke pot.
And so did you. You lost your focus many times at work that made all wondered what happened with you.
You missed him. You really missed him, but you just can't go back to him after what happened that night.
"Isn't that Hyungwon, (y/n)?" Your bestfriend asked when both of you were watching an evening news.
"I think so." You nodded.
"Speaking of him, why have i never seen him coming here again?"
"We... Kind of broke up."
"Kind of?" She rolled her eyes. "There's no such thing."
"I broke up with him." You changed the channel. "Can we just not talk about it, please?" Your bestfriend shrugged and just nodded an okay.
"Oh, by the way. Changkyun is calling you." Your bestfriend said, looking at your phone on the table. Vibrating non stop.
You took the phone and greeted the boy hello.
"What? Why?" You shook your head. "Nope, i'm not coming to his house.... Changkyun, wait. I trust you, but..." You stopped talking, letting the boy persuaded you. "Okay... Okay. I'm coming. Wait there!"
You stood up and left to your room.
"Are you leaving?"
"Yep! Won't take long." You shouted from your room as you grabbed your cardigan and a purse, before heading to the shared bathroom. "Changkyun is sick and that guy doesn't have any medicine in his house." You grabbed the medicine box and took it with you.
"Alright... Be safe, (y/n)." She then waved you goodbye.
It took you almost thirty minutes to reached his apartment. It was quiet from the outside, just like usual.
You put your hand on the lock and hesitantly put in the code.
It worked? You thought, after it made the clicking sound. He didn't change the password?
But it was dark inside, only lit by tea candles.
"Changkyun?" You called his name as you tried to switch on the lamp, but it didn't work out. "Where are you?"
You kept walking, following the directions led by the candles. the room was almost pitch black but you still could tell where you were heading.
To Hyungwon's room.
"Are you inside?" You asked. Eyes wandering around the apartment, what the hell is this?
"Changkyun?" You knocked on the door once, but the door immediately creaked open. "I swear to God if you jump scare me–" you stopped mid sentence.
"Happy birthday, (y/n)." You found someone you had missed for days towering before you, holding a small cake, enough just for the two of you.
"Hyungwon?" You called his name for the first time after that day.
"Blow and make some wish." He smiled. You stood there still, looking into his eyes. You missed him so bad that you just want to cry right now.
"Come on." He took your hand and brushed it lightly with his thumb.
You blowed the candle and he put the cake away immediately before pulled you in for a hug.
"Happy birthday, (y/n)." He kissed your forehead as his hand cupped the back of your head. "I missed you so much." He said softly on your ear. "These days were the worst of my life." He added. "I was so stupid i couldn't gave you explanation that day. I'm so sorry, (y/n). It's just... It's true that my first intention was to... You know. But... As we spent the days and nights together, i realised.... You are different and..." He pulled away from the hug and looked intensely to your eyes, "I started to love you."
He felt ridiculed by his own words that he let out a small chuckle. "I know this surprise would probably means nothing to you but i just want to prove it to you that i really—"
You stopped him with a peck. Just your lips touching his for a couple of seconds. He was quite taken aback by your moved but you could feel him smiling quite awhile after and his hands started wrapping around your waist and invited you for an even deeper kiss.
"I missed you too, Hyungwon." You whispered as you both searching for airs between the kisses.
Your hand ran up to his nape and one grabbing his hair gently, while he led you closer to the wall and pinned you.
"I know today is your birthday," he said, catching up with his own breath. "But can i use one of the card you gave me?" He smirked as he planted kisses on the crook of your neck.
"Which..." You moaned as he bit the flesh of your ear. "One?"
"The 'make love' one?" He sucked the skin of your shoulder, marking you.
"I've... Been waiting for that," again, you moaned between words by how good he was on kissing and teasing you. "For ages." You smiled.
He then picked you up. His hands cupping both of your ass-cheeks as you kissed him hungrily and grabbed his hair, before he threw you gently on his bed, began kissing you again with one hand unbuttoning your shirt.
"Me too, (y/n)." He bit your lips softly before he began trailing kisses down from your jawline.
Both of you weren't even fighting for a dominance. Both of you just played equally, following where one took the other, to savour every bit of his soft and gentle touch, to swallow every love words and moans he let out and paid him with a deep kiss he deserved.
And that night was the one you sure you'll never forgot.
"I love you so much, (y/n)." He whispered.
