They’re on the periphery of the Home Wares section of Target, heading with purposeful stride toward Sporting Goods, when Gabe declares that he wants a doll for his “Been Good” toy.
Every Little Thing He Does (is magic) by jezziejay - single dad Patrick
Jonny Toews is a bewitching man who moves into a mysterious mansion in a small town. Soon, he opens Bell, Book & Candle, a curiosity shop full of candles, lotions, etc., and is enthralling the children of local police chief (Patrick Kane), who believe he is a witch (but not a bad one.) But not everyone in town is appreciative of their quirky new neighbor, and it may take a little bit of magic for him to truly become part of the community.

If anyone had told Johnny upon entering the NHL that thirteen years later he'd not only have a kid with Patrick Kane, but would be getting ready to go on a 'date night,’ he'd have said they must be smoking some pretty good shit. And then he'd have to wait a decade to eat his words.
In the Middle of the Night - 1988 as parents
Gone are the days when it took a cold, wet washcloth on his face to wake him up. Or: Five times Pat and Jonny's daughter wakes them up, plus one time they wake her up.

Fill It Up With Love by Frosting50 - single dad Pat; implied mpreg
So Pat’s senior year doesn’t turn out exactly like he’d planned. He still gets his degree in accounting, but he also gets a little girl named Emma. She’s all fat pink cheeks, curly brown hair, and blue eyes. She might have Ryan’s chin, but she’s all Pat’s. And the first time she falls asleep on his chest, chubby hand curled around his thumb, skin so soft and sweet he damn-near feels bowled over with how much he loves her. He didn’t know he could love anyone so much; it makes his heart feel too big for his chest, and he knows that he’ll spend the rest of his life trying to give her the world.
peas & carrots by altri_uccelli - 1988 as parents
Unapologetic Halloween fluff, or: Jonny forgets what day it is, but Kaner's on it.
Can You Lyft Me Up? by Mullsandmutts - single dad Patrick
Even high profile athletes like Chicago Blackhawks Captain Jonathan Toews are forced to utilize paid transportation from time to time. An accidental "share my ride" selection on an app results in a life-altering ride with an mouthy Russian driver (Artemi), an unfairly attractive single father (Patrick Kane) and his adorable sassy (and color-matching-challenged) preschool daughter (introducing Molly Donna Patricia Amelia Kane aka Mo). Jonathan refuses to feel too sketch when he negotiates a plan with the driver to "accidentally" have more shared rides with his new friends. When Mo has a traumatic incident at day camp, Patrick's heart is broken and Jonny enlists the help of Temi and the ever-meddling Patrick Sharp to get smiles back on both Kane faces. Jonathan finds himself more and more drawn to Patrick but Patrick's fears of being a good enough parent for Mo and meeting all of her needs could keep them apart. Will Temi, the Sharp family and a trio of nosy aunts in Buffalo be enough to help Jonathan and Patrick realize what they could have together or will Patrick's stubbornness and Jonathan's fear of ruining their friendship keep them apart? Stay tuned to find out ....
Three by Linsky - i won’t spoil it
Patrick doesn’t think he’s a pervert. But how would he know? Maybe a pervert is just a thing you are, and it doesn’t feel any different from being a normal person, until you do something perverted. Maybe that’s him. After all, he does have two names on his wrist.
All Your Memories by toewsandconfused - 1988 as parents; amnesiafic
Pat went to sleep a bachelor in the Trump Towers and woke up next to Jonny in the suburbs with three kids calling him Daddy. Struggling to figure out his new reality Patrick had ruled out dream, was banking on delusion because even though it meant he was losing his mind, it seemed safer than some kind of late-onset amnesia. He didn’t want to face that idea that this really was his life; that Jonny was his, that those beautiful kids were his, and he couldn’t remember any of it. The idea that the memories of their life together could be lost forever was too terrifying to deal with. Losing his mind was preferable to losing his memories.

You just do. So I grabbed the kid and went through the fire escape. It’s not like I decided I wanted to save anybody, it was just the only option.”

Patrick Kane hasn’t lived a charmed life despite money flowing through his veins. The journey he is currently on, though paved with good intentions, proves to be a harder challenge than he could ever be ready for. The people he meets along the way give him a much more valued gift than his grandfather could ever dream of giving him.

patch it up by gasmsinc - 1988 as parents
Jonny stares at his daughter for a long moment. She stares back, eyes unwavering. She has Kaner’s baby blues, but at five she’s already mastered Jonny’s dead on the inside stare. Her kindergarten teacher claims she uses the unwavering look to bully other students into doing what she wants, and it’s something they should work on at home, but Jonny’s baby is a natural born leader, and he’s not going to get in her way of becoming the president, or, better yet, the supreme ruler of the universe.
Your patch,” says Jonny.

It’s been 6 years now, and he’s grown to enjoy the city since signing with the Rangers to follow Anna, who’d found a job in Brooklyn.
But Chicago; Chicago was Patrick’s first love, all his important firsts – it’s all been hers, and having to leave had been heartbreaking. Too many memories from Chicago were heartbreaking, and yet he always yearned for the city, always felt more comfortable walking her streets than any other place in the world. No other place quite felt like home the way Chicago did.

“Just admit you like him.”
“Shut up, Sharpy,” Patrick says, before he rolls his eyes and tries to ignore the smirk widening on Sharpy’s lips. “Don’t you have your kids’ parents to bother?”
“No, my last kid left a couple minutes ago, so I’m totally here to watch you and Jonathan Toews make heart eyes at each other,” Sharpy laughs, waltzing into Patrick’s classroom. He immediately makes his way to see Sadie, who greets her dad with a hug.

Patrick’s not really into dudes—he’s done that whole thing a couple of times—that’s rock-n-roll after all, but god, when Jonathan smiles, he looks really good.Johnny is a nanny. Patrick's a musician. They fall in love. Inspired by the movie What Maisie Knew.

given to us as free-flying souls by Mayhem10
Jonathan had never really considered himself particularly good with kids. He didn’t avoid them or anything and it’s not like they burst into tears when they saw his face, but he never was exactly sure what to do with them, these little people running around at waist height. It just wasn’t his area. So, of course, Patrick was basically the child whisperer.

Hide Your Face So The World Will Never Find You (Paper Faces On Parade) by huntersandangels
Jonathan Toews, farm owner and guardian of his nephew, is in desperate need of capable farm hands. Patrick Kane certainly does not fit the description but when a mutual friend confides in him that Patrick has lost everything he owned and is in serious need himself and offers Jonathan money to hire him, how can he say no?
Patrick Kane loves statistics and spending his money on thoroughly planned ‘adventures’ for his friends when he’s not partying away the rest of his fortune. If he wins the bet he can continue to plot freely but if he loses his extra curriculum activities have to stop. He agrees to go on an ‘adventure’ himself and settles in the Toews Farm posing as a farm hand. But as the time goes by, the less pretend it feels-and the more he enjoys Jonathan and Etienne’s company and the quite life in the farm; to the point where he’s not sure whether he wants to win the bet or lose...

There's a lot of different ways this summary could go, like:Patrick Kane gets more than a gold medal in Sochi.
Or, the classic: It's too late to pull out now.Or: Patrick Kane continues to thrive in high pressure situations.Or: Patrick Kane gets knocked up, goes to White Castle, and finds love, not necessarily in that order.
But, ultimately, all that really matters is this: Patrick Kane is keeping his baby.

   Requested: 👍
Summary/Request: can you do something with t segs about him being best friends with a small shy nerdy, not your typical blonde hair bombshell type girl and him realizing he’s in love with her💗
  Warning: fluff, maybe some swearing
  masterlist
“Why are you so awful at this?!” you yelled to Tyler while the two of you played NHL 19, “isn’t this like your thing?”
“No, actually, it’s not!” he laughed, “they’re very different things. I’m not on the ice!”
  “Whatever, you still suck”
“Maybe I’m just letting you win...”
“Yeah right!” you scoffed as you scored another goal before celebrating, “HA! BOOM! I win. I always win! What do I get this time?”
“Who said you get anything?” he said as he got up to walk into the kitchen
“We made a bet, sourpuss,” you followed Tyler into the kitchen, “so...?”
“I’ll pay for your dinner” he said, rolling his eyes dramatically
“Wow, what a treat” you teased and pushed him out of the way so you could grab a glass from his cabinet.
“You’re damn right it’s a treat” he returned
“How about something a little more... out of the ordinary...” Tyler gave you a confused glare and you waited in silence for him to say something, “it’s not like you’ve never paid for my dinner before. If all I get for beating your ass is a lousy dinner than I’m gonna have to stop wasting my time around here”
“What is it you want then?” he asked curiously
“Hmm.. well there’s a world of possibilities Seguin,” you mused, “how about... helicopter tour? concert in Vegas? introduce me to Captain America?”
“I met Chris Evans once, we’re not exactly buddy buddy...”
  “Call in a favour”
  “Sorry can’t do that”
“Okay.. well.. I don’t know.. OH WAIT! Take me to a Pens game!”
  “A Pens game? why?”
“Uhm to watch them win... duh”
“Aren’t you supposed to be cheering for me? and my team?”
“Yeah sure.. only when you’re playing. But I grew up watching Pittsburgh,” you pouted and whined in your best baby voice, “please, Ty...”
“Ugh fine,” he groaned, “grab the schedule”
“YES!” you yelled, running to your bag to grab the pocket season schedule your Mom got you in October, “okay so there’s one this weekend it looks like... and it’s perfect because you’re not playing!”
“You know I still have practice though...” he laughed and you smiled
  “Not this day you don’t!”
“Fine. I guess I’ll see you in Pittsburgh”
“See you in Pittsburgh!” you hopped past him back toward the couch, a big grin still plastered on your face. You pushed your oversized, butterfly shaped glasses up the bridge of your nose before grabbing the controller and continuing the play as Tyler sat down next yo you; you could feel his gaze on you, so you chirped him, “take a picture, it’ll last longer”
  “You’re really using that gem?”
“You’re really gonna sit there and pretend like you’re not staring at me?”
  “I wasn’t staring...”
“Mhm..” you hummed before pausing the game, “what?”
“What do you mean?” he said, dumbfounded, “I wasn’t staring... I just.. I don’t get it...”
“Oh god.. what does that mean?”
“Why did you go to school in New York?” he said, gesturing to your Columbia sweatshirt, “I mean why couldn’t you just stay in Toronto...?”
“Uhm, maybe because I got a scholarship to one of the top ranked Universities in the world, you ass,” you teased, “and it’s New York City. I wasn’t going to pass that up”
  “But I never saw you”
“That has nothing to do with Columbia. That has to do with you and Boston and then Dallas. Don’t blame it on me...”
“I’m not blaming,” he defended, “I’m just saying. Before Boston, we did everything together and then we just kinda... didn’t”
“We still got together Ty...” you brought your legs up onto the couch, “look, I’m here now. We’re hanging out... we’re going to a hockey game on Saturday. We’re still friends, do you not think we’re friends anymore?”
“What? no of course not! Don’t panic,” he tried, “I just kinda miss you sometimes...”
“Awww!” you cooed, pushing his shoulder teasingly, “I miss you too, Tyler.” You leaned in to give him a tight hug because it seemed like he needed it, but you needed it just as much as he did; you pulled him a little closer and caught the scent on his hair, breathing it in before you pulled away slowly. Your eyes caught his for just a second and you tried to hide the way your breathing increased by moving back on the couch -- further away from Tyler, when you heard him call for the dogs.
“Marsh, Cash, Gerry,” he whistled, “where are you guys?” With that the three labs came rushing to the couch, jumping up instantly and licking your faces frantically.
“My god, you’d think they hadn’t seen us in weeks...” you laughed and tried to move your face away from the dogs. Catching Tyler staring at you one last time before you cleared you throat and focused your eyes back on the brightly lit screen.
Tyler’s P.O.V
Why did she seem so new to you? You had known her for so long and she had always just been... (Y/N)... So why was she suddenly making you nervous? You watched her as the dogs licked her face before she trained her eyes on the screen. She caught your eyes once but whipped back to the T.V. and didn’t look at you for the majority of the night until she finally got up to go to bed.
“So you’re gonna sleep on the couch yeah?” she smiled at you and you felt a small wave of heat flood your cheeks
“What? why would I do that?”
“Because I’m taking your bed. It’s the comfiest in the house so...”
“Ahh no,” you laughed, “who said you could take my bed?”
“Me!” she giggled as you stood up, noticing her prepare to run to your room
“I don’t think so” you approached her slowly, eyes narrowing
  “Tyler...”
“(Y/N)...” she stood in front of you, playing with the hem of her Columbia sweatshirt, watching how you moved to decide what her next step would be. When you lunged forward to grab her, she dodged your hand and let out a squeal; something you normally would find annoying but for some reason, you thought it was adorable. You smiled and continued to chase her through your house, letting her run ahead of you to let her think she had the upper hand before you made two large strides and wrapped your arm around her stomach and carried her through the hallway.
“See, your problem is that you get too cocky” you laughed
“TYLER!” she yelled, squirming under your grip, her glasses falling to the floor, “let me go!” You didn’t listen, instead you carried her to the guest room and threw her onto the mattress abruptly, staring at her briefly before walking out of the room. When you came back she had a confused look on her face which you attributed to the fact that she probably couldn’t see, so you walked over to the bed and slid her glasses on her face
“I think you dropped these...” you said lowly as her brilliant (Y/E/C) eyes hypnotized you as they danced between yours
“You mean you knocked them off me” she finally said before sitting up to adjust her position.
“Well I should let you get some sleep...” you muttered before she could speak, leaving her mouth to gape as you walked away
“Okay...” she whispered, confusion clearly present in her voice. You started to walk to your bedroom, shaking your head to clear out whatever had just happened but it was still there; you leaned up against the wall and took a second to look back at everything but all you saw was her. All you heard was her. All you smelled was her. Now, all you wanted was her.
What the hell was that? You thought to yourself. It couldn’t have just been you that noticed the weirdness. This wasn’t unusual for you and Ty, to play wrestle like this but there was something different tonight. Some kind of tension that had never been there before and it freaked you out; you couldn’t help think that something was wrong. Sitting against the pillows for 20 minutes contemplating what it all meant only made it worse, so you decided to confront him about it.
“Tyler...?” you whispered to him after opening his door but he didn’t answer, “Ty, you awake?” When he still didn’t answer, you sighed and closed the door before heading back to the guest room. When you woke up the next morning, you prepared yourself for just as awkward of a situation as last night but you were thankful when everything seemed to be back to normal
“Morning sleepy head!” Tyler greeted as you came into the kitchen
“Morning dork” you teased, before lifting your arms above your head in a big stretch
“So, I thought we’d go meet Chubbs for lunch” he said as you sat down at the kitchen table
“Sounds good to me..” you said, still half-asleep, “hey, can we talk about last night?”
“Hmm? What about last night?” he asked, his back to you
“Ty, can you just come here,” you said, “sit down and talk to me...” He turned around and slowly walked toward you, sitting down in front of you.
  “What’s up?”
“What happened last night? Why were you acting so strange?”
“I wasn’t acting strange...” he shrugged, “I don’t know what you mean. We were doing what we always do...”
“Yeah but something was... different,” you tried, “wasn’t it?”
“I don’t think so...” You could tell that he wasn’t going to address it, whatever it was, so you ended the conversation and went on with the morning; running a few errands before you and Tyler left to meet Jamie for lunch. It felt like it had been ages since you had seen Jamie and you were excited to hear what was going on with him and whether or not he’d fallen in love yet. But the ride to the restaurant took much longer than you anticipated, and it was almost completely silent, making you irritated by the time you got there. You looked over at Tyler a few times, waiting for him to say or do something but he just stared out the windshield at the road in silence.
“Okay,” you finally said to break the silence, “what the fuck is going on?!”
  “What?” he questioned
“Tyler, why are you not talking to me? Or teasing me? Or singing to dumb rap songs on the radio to drive me insane? Why are we just sitting in uncomfortable silence?”
“I didn’t know it was an uncomfortable silence...”
  “Tyler!!”
“What? It’s not like you said anything either!”
  “Fair but still. What’s wrong?”
  “Nothing...”
“You’re lying to me!!” you yelled, a small laugh on the statement
“No I’m not. Nothing is wrong. I promise. Look we’re here...”
“This isn’t over, Seguin,” you said pointing your finger at him before getting out of the car, following him with your eyes as he walked in front of the car to meet you at the sidewalk, “not by a long shot...”
Tyler’s P.O.V.
“Hey Jamie!!” (Y/N) greeted when she saw him, wrapping her arms around his waist to give him a tight squeeze
“There she is! The short little one I like so much!” he teased, hugging her close
“Hey bud” you greeted him with a nod and a quick high five, noticing (Y/N) roll her eyes
“Ty...” Jamie joked in a serious tone, “alright so what’s going on with you (Y/N)?”
“Nothing really.. school’s good. Work’s... a lot. I’ve got this week to do absolutely nothing which is why I’m here...” (Y/N) said, her laugh ringing through the air, finding its way into your ear like a song you wanted to play on repeat
“Sounds like you came here at the perfect time” Jamie smiled at her
“She’s also forcing me to go to a Pens game this weekend...” you added, raising your eyebrows
“We’re playing the Pens like next week...” Jamie asked confused
“Ah yes, but you’re not this weekend. In fact you’re not playing at all...” (Y/N) answered
“It’s one game, I figured I’d let her have it,” you joked, “better to let her win than argue about something like this...” You and Jamie laughed while (Y/N) scrunched her nose at the two of you. The rest of lunch went by about the way that you figured it would, nothing out of the ordinary, until (Y/N) left the table and Jamie started asking questions
“What’s going on here?” he started
“We’re having lunch, Chubbs...” you joked
“I mean with you and (Y/N). I see the way you’re looking at her. The way you blush whenever she laughs, the way you scoot closer to her forcing your arms to touch. I saw you watch her get up... and walk away...”
  “Stop it”
  “Seggy come on, tell me”
“Nothing is happening. Nothing is going on. She’s still (Y/N), we’re still friends. Best Friends,” you emphasized, “but --”
“But...” Jamie said with a big grin on his face, leaving you to roll your eyes at him
“But maybe there’s something there. At least on my end. She doesn’t feel that way...”
  “Why don’t you ask her?”
“So I can embarrass myself? Or get rejected and lose my friendship? No thanks”
“Oh please,” he huffed, “you’re not gonna get rejected. If I know anything, it’s that that girl has been in love with you for as long as you’ve known each other but you’ve been too busy with the Blondes of Dallas to pay attention”
“She’s not in love with me...” you whispered, defeated, “and she’s blonde too”
“She’s not Texas Blonde. She’s Girl-Next-Door Blonde,” he started and you gave him a confused look before he could continue, “her hair is like spun gold. The Texas Blondes are bottled and bleached. And yes, she is in love with you, if you’d taken a second to pay attention...”
“Chubbs... be serious okay. Maybe you’re like projecting or whatever. Maybe you’re in love with her and that’s why you’re talking about her hair that’s ‘spun like gold’” you teased just as (Y/N) came back to the table and you tried to switch the conversation, “I think I’m right... and you’re very very wrong”
“Oooh what’s Tyler wrong about?” (Y/N) chimed in, making Jamie laugh
“HEY! I said I was right and he was wrong”
“Yes, which means that he’s probably right and you’re definitely wrong”
“She was obviously listening to our conversation because she knows” Jamie said knowingly, tilting his glass to her
“She’s wrong. You’re wrong” you said to the both of them
“I’m bored,” (Y/N) said abruptly, “let’s go find something to do. Head to Main Street or Bishop...? Or go see a movie. I can’t sit at this table all day, Ty, I need to do... something. Jamie?”
“I can’t, sorry kid,” he replied and she tilted her head at him, “I gotta go meet Katie...”
“Fine. Tell her I say hi...” she said, standing up to give Jamie a hug goodbye
“Will do” he said, wrapping her in a tight hug and nodding to you; trying to get you to admit your feelings and you rolled your eyes
“Okay, into the car we go” you joked
“What? No let’s just walk. Where are you planning to take me?” she laughed
“I thought we were going to Bishop?”
“Yeah, which isn’t far. We can just walk,” she glanced up at you, “or are you getting lazy?”
“Fine, we’ll walk,” you agreed, scowling at her once before saying goodbye to Jamie, “later Chubbs”
“Tell her” he whispered to you when (Y/N) was out of earshot and you shot him a glare. When you turned the corner, you saw her waiting for you and you saw what Jamie was talking about. The sun hit (Y/N) in such a way that her hair looked like a halo around her, making her glow as her long strands fell across her shoulder. Her porcelain skin shimmering in the light and the smile that she gave you when she finally saw you only seemed to make everything brighter.
“Took you long enough” she teased, bringing you back to her
“Nah nah nah, you ran out of the restaurant, I wasn’t slow”
“Whatever, slowpoke, let’s go...” She turned to walk away, the fabric of her skirt effortlessly dancing in the wind and you ran toward her, draping your arm over her shoulder when you reached her, “well look who just got a sudden burst of energy!” She giggled, looking up at you and your knees went weak, making you take your arm away from her.
“So, what are we doing?” you cleared your throat and looked ahead, “playing some kind of game?”
“What?” she said, still looking up at you, confusion covering her features
“You know, like normal,” you replied, “are we pretending to be injured to see who will help us? Pretending that we’re being chased by the cops to freak some people out? Pretending to be a couple, desperately in love, on their way to a chapel on the other side of the city?“ You laughed awkwardly at your last words, looking down at her and seeing her eyes grow wide before she looked ahead of her
“Uhm,” she hesitated, “I don’t know.. what do you think?”
“We haven’t done the couple thing in a while...” you said, putting your hands in your pockets as you continued to walk
“That’s true but it’s always a little more entertaining to run from the cops”
“Yeah but it’s not really believable...”
“Neither is us being a couple,” she said under her breath and you stopped walking, “Ty?”
  “Why isn’t it believable?”
  “What?”
“Us being a couple. Why isn’t it believable?”
“Because it’s not...” she moved toward you, “I’m not really your type and people notice that”
“How do they know what my type is?!”
“Why are you getting so upset? It’s just a game,” she said defensively, “and a game only we know we’re playing...”
“It doesn’t have to be a game...” you whispered, rubbing your neck sheepishly as you tried to avoid her gaze; knowing that her eyes would ruin any anger bumbling inside of you
“What does that mean?” she said gently, lifting her hand to rest it on your forearm and you finally looked at her; heartbeat in your ears, breathing uncontrolled and everything in you telling you just to kiss her
“Do you want it to mean something?” was all you said, forcing her to step back and no words escaped her lips, the two of you standing across from each other in silence.
You had no idea what to do now. He had been back and forth between normal and odd since last night and now this. Do you want it to mean something? No. Maybe. Why would it even mean something? You weren’t the girl he wanted, you were just something available and your friendship with him was more important than what his lips would feel like against yours. You stood in front of him, eyes trained on his, and waited for him to say something, to clear up his question, but he never did, so you turned on your heels and darted up the pathway.
“(Y/N)... Wait!” he called after you and you tried to escape him, your cheeks still flustered while your mind raced, “Stop!” You turned sharply, making him run into you
“OW..” the two of you said at the same time as you rubbed your head
“What are you doing?” you asked, raising your voice unintentionally
  “You’re the one who stopped!”
“Not that,” you sighed, “why are you messing with my head?”
“Messing with your head? I’m not..”
“You are! What am I supposed to say to ‘do you want it to mean something?’ what am I supposed to think is happening when you’re fine one second and the next you won’t look at me?”
  “I don’t know!”
“Then why can’t you just act like you?!”
  “(Y/N)...”
  “What Tyler?”
“Maybe I want us to be more than friends...”
“No you don’t...” You looked at him as a million thoughts ran through your head. You met Tyler when you were five years old and were immediately charmed by him. The way he smiled, the way his eyes were like honey in the sunlight, the way he could make you laugh at absolutely everything. As you got older, you realized your feelings were more romantic than his probably were and, by the time you were 13, you were hopelessly in love with him. While he worked to become the Hockey Superstar that the world knew, you worked toward Columbia University because you knew that the only way to escape your feelings was to get away from him for a bit. It didn’t matter though. You were still there for his first NHL game in Boston surrounded by his family. Your heart still fluttered every time he smiled -- at you or anyone else. But he was always with someone. Some girl who looked nothing like you, but exactly like the rest, and you realized that you’d never be the girl he wanted. He’d never see you the way you wanted him to. So, you tried to let him go but he never let you go too far. When you realized you had been standing in front of him without saying a word for too long, you tried to mutter something to express how you were feeling, “I don’t...”
“You don’t want us to be more than friends?” he repeated
  “I never said that...”
  “What do you want then?”
“I want us to be friends... like we always have,” you answered, “I don’t want to ruin that or lose it Tyler. I’m not this Blonde Bombshell type that’s all over Dallas. Sooner or later, you’d realize that and move on; friendships don’t survive that, T”
  “That wouldn’t happen...”
  “You don’t know that”
“No, actually I do,” he said suddenly, leaving you standing there speechless for a while, waiting for him to continue, “I know what would happen. I know how our relationship would be. I would wake up to the smell of your coconut conditioner and watch as you slowly opened your eyes, looking up at me and smiling that smile that makes me melt. We’d walk through Uptown Dallas and Downtown Dallas and we’d become everyone’s favourite couple because even the smallest kisses between us would show everyone how we feel for each other. I would protect you from ever being in pain, you’d comfort me when I needed it after a loss. I can picture us, holding hands and walking through this park, mocking each other like we always do. I can see us in Paris or Greece or Vegas, sharing kisses at all your favourite spots. I can see you walking the stage when you graduate Columbia with me hollering for you from the stands. I can see you doing the same during the playoffs. I can see all of this. Our friendship wouldn’t change, it would be the same...”
“Tyler, that’s...” you tried to think of the words that would save your heart, “that sounds so amazing. But it doesn’t sound like us. We’re not a couple. We’ve never been a couple. We’re jus--”
“I think I’m in love with you” he blurted out, interrupting you and making the people around you stare.
  “You’re what?”
“I think I might love you, that I might be in love with you...”
  “No..”
“I can’t stop thinking about you. I can’t wait until the next moment I get to see you again. Your voice is permanently ingrained in my mind and your smile is the best part of my day. I don’t know who I’d be without you and I don’t want to find out because I’m pretty sure I’m in love with you,” Your eyes danced between his as your mouth gaped open; you had no words. This was all you had wanted for so long but it felt like a dream and you were having a hard time believing it, “can you say something?”
“I.. I’ve been in love with you from the second I met you...” you noticed a smile creep on his face, but your eyebrows had unfurrowed, “I don’t want to get hurt, Tyler.” He stepped close to you, almost completely closing the gap between the two of you as onlookers stayed to see how it would end
“The last thing I want to do is hurt you” he said, sweeping his thumb across your cheek
  “You promise?”
“I’ll bet the season on it,” he smiled, continuing to close the gap and you smiled back up at him, “there it is. The best part of my day.” He smiled and pulled you up to capture your lips in a kiss you’d never forget as the crowd of people around you began to applaud and cheer, leaving you to blush at the sudden realization that you were kissing in public.
“Maybe we should do this somewhere else” you whispered
“Maybe you’re right” he agreed, swinging his arm over your shoulder and kissing the top of your head as the two of you went on your way.

Tumblr media
Chapter One
“Can’t Masterson do it this time?”, you asked your boss on the phone. “No, I want the best to go there and you are the best, Y/N. You know what to do.”, your boss said. You sighed, “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me?”, you whispered under your breath. “What was that? I’d love to go, boss?”, she said. You sighed. “Alright, alright, Rachel, I’ll go. Don’t expect a full paragraph on him though.”, you said agitated. You were a sports journalist for the Toronto Sun and the All-Stars Draft and Game were coming up soon and you were chosen to do it. You were actually chosen to do it ever since you were hired there, but this year you definitely didn’t want to do it. “I know you have been avoiding him to see him in person but it has to happen sometime, it’s been a year and a half, Y/N.”, Rachel said.
The person you have been dreading to see is Tyler Seguin. You ‘dated’ him when you were doing an internship in Boston. Correction you had a sexual relationship with him because you weren’t into commitment at the time – a party girl yourself even though your feelings for him changed over time. At the beginning you thought it was weird he was into it, since he was a good friend of yours, from back in Toronto where you were born, and definitely not his type – or so you thought. Not everyone knew about the relationship – most people thought you were good friends going out and about. That all changed when you found out you were pregnant. That made your brothers – Patrick, Dylan and Michael [made up names] - mad, they’re all hockey players and one of them – your twin brother, Patrick -  was a teammate of Tyler at the time.
This happened three years ago, they didn’t make it easy for him on the ice during your pregnancy. Yes, you kept the baby, you would’ve felt bad if you would’ve done an abortion. At the start Tyler didn’t help you much with preparing or supporting you but you thought that was bound to happen. But his mother knocked some sense into him and he started going to the appointments with you and helped you buy some baby clothes and furniture. He even started developing feeling for you and he pursued a relationship with you. You really appreciated it that Jackie did that for you even though she didn’t approve your pregnancy, since you were only twenty years old. You actually felt bad you got pregnant but two people swung this tango.
It happened before the rumors about him sleeping with his teammate’s wife surfaced. You knew you weren’t exclusive with him but that drew the straw for you and ended things with him. He was allowed to see his son but you never wanted to be near him. When Tristan was born you announced it on social media – people talked about it, wondering who the father could be – knowing you were familiar with a lot of hockey players. You never announced who it was, only people close to you knew about it – your families, friends, your co-workers and his teammates from the Bruins and now also the Dallas Stars.
“… And then you’re going to the All Stars Red Carpet to interview them… Y/N? Are you even listening?”, Rachel asked you. You were pretty close with Rachel, she knew about your situation, allowing you to work from home if Tristan got sick. She was your mentor, she saw potential in you and she was right. “Yeah, it just has been awhile since I have really talked to him face to face.”, you said. “Yes, I know. I’m sorry about that but I want you. The players like you, they know you better than our other reporters.” There was a silence. “Well, I’ll send everything you need to know tonight and I’ll see you tomorrow?”, she said ending the call. Even though you haven’t seen him about a year and a half, you talked to him on the phone or Face Timed him but every call was for your son. In the beginning he would always try to talk about something else but you would shut him out. If he wanted to see his son, you would always find someone else where Tyler had to pick him up. He just couldn’t let go of his player ways.
“Mommy, I want a cookie.”, you heard Tristan say, pulling you from your thoughts. “How do you say it nicely?”, you asked. “Can I have a cookie, please?”, he said cutely with a big smile on his face. “Okay, little guy.”, you said smiling at him, standing up from your desk you sat at. You walked to the kitchen following the little brunette three-years-old.
Anyone knowing the two of you were together would know in an instant that Tristan is Tyler’s. He had the same mesmerizing brown eyes and soft brown hair, he’s like a mini-me of Tyler. He loved it that he had a mini-me. Every time he would make that remark you would roll your eyes, even though he wouldn’t see it because you talked over the phone then.
You walked to the cupboard, grabbed the cookie jar and took one cookie out. “There you go, baby.”, you said, giving the cookie to Tristan. “Thank you!”, he said before munching on the cookie. You looked at the clock and saw that Tyler would call any minute. You had a scheduled time where he would call, to keep the routine up for Tristan. “Are you ready? Daddy’s going to call any minute now!”, you said feigning excitement for the little boy. You grabbed your iPad and set it up at Tristan’s spot at the dinner table. Tristan jumped up and down from excitement and climbed in his seat. Just in time for Tyler calling. The little boy tapped his finger on the green phone and Tyler’s face popped up. “Hey Tyler.”, you said before walking away, going to fold and iron some laundry in the connected living room. “Hey Y/N, can we talk later?”, he asked quickly. You turned around and nodded to the boy sitting in front of the iPad. “Mommy says yes.”, Tristan smiles. “So how are you doing, buddy?”, you heard Tyler ask. “Mommy just gave me a cookie so my stomach is happy now.”, you heard the little one answer. You smiled at the answer, the little one could become a comedian later. Tyler chuckled, “How’s kindergarten? Are you making friends?”, he asked, really interested. “It’s good, Mommy how many friends do I have?”, he asked you. You tapped your chin with your pointer finger, really thinking about it and counting the kids he talks about. “You made ten friends, Tristan.”, you smiled at him. “Did you hear that?! Ten is a lot!”, you heard him say. “Woah buddy, yes that is a lot!”, you heard Tyler say excitingly. They talked for a little while more, with the dogs and all that. “Hey Tris, can I talk to Mommy now?”, “Okay, I’m going to get her. Bye Daddy.”, you heard them say. “Mommy, he wants to talk! Can I watch TV now?”, Tristan says. “Yes of course.”, you said, putting the TV on and changed it to his favorite channel after you were done ironing.
You walked to the kitchen taking the iPad in your hand and walked over to your little office. “What’s wrong?”, you asked, a little agitated. “It’s just, I know you reported the All-Stars Draft and Game of the previous years – are you doing this year’s too?”, he asked with a concerned look on his face. “Yeah... Do you want me to bring Tristan with me?”, you asked. “If you want too, well we can do some activities together but... Only if you want too of course. I get that you don’t want too.”, he asked hesitantly. “I would like that Tyler, I know I have been distant to you the past year but you know why.”, you said with a serious look.
That statement hurt him, you could see it in his eyes. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that.”, you said quickly. “No, it’s true. I’m still sorry about that but I’m changed now. You know I’ve been trying to be a dad for Tristan. What I did when I was in the Bruins was wrong. The coaches even say I have changed.”, he said honestly. “I know Ty. I appreciate everything you do, you know that too, right?”, you said, unconsciously using his nickname you used. He looked surprised, while you looked wide-eyed when you realize. “Oh, sorry. Must’ve slipped too soon.”, you said recovering. “Y/N, I never said you had to stop using it. I like it when you say it.”, he said smiling at you. “I guess it could make the situation more normal for the both of us, like we’re friends again. Before you had that internship back in Boston.”, he added.
You knew each other before you moved with your family to Toronto. Your dad used to be a hockey goalie with the Toronto Maple Leafs. You were good friends, occasionally playing hockey together – the boys not being rough on  you of course. In the off-season you would see each other back again – in the beginning though, after a while he had his own guy friends and he really didn’t want to hang out with you anymore. You saw each other again when your brother and Tyler got drafted to the Bruins. When you saw him, he was shocked to see you. You didn’t notice it but he looked at you in a different way – seeing you had grown up in a beautiful way. He always had this crush on you but he didn’t want to admit it, denying it even because he thought he would never see you again.
You blushed a little and looked at the time. Oh, you had to start preparing dinner. “Well, Tyler. It was nice to talk to you but I have to start preparing dinner or there someone won’t be happy about it.”, you said chuckling and being honest with him. “Okay, I’ll talk to you in two days, same time?”, he said beaming at you. You liked his smile so much and it was weird you could still make him smile like that. “Yeah, good for me. See you then.”, you said ending the call.
You walked out your office with a wide smile on your face – a faint pink blush on your cheeks. You couldn’t believe Tyler made you blush or smile like that again. You did still had feelings for him. “Did Daddy tell when the next call is going to be?”, the little lookalike asked you, still watching TV. “Yeah, the day after the tomorrow.”, you answered smiling at him. “I’m going to start preparing dinner, okay. So can you stay in the living room so I can keep an eye on you?”, you said sternly. “Okay, okay, Mommy.”, he said with his hands in the air. The little one had an attitude, you thought to yourself while you chuckled at the sight.

Volleyball- Connor McDavid
Tumblr media
Ok so not going to lie... I'm ignoring the NHL. Ovi's going to the Olympics, so everyone's going! (Yes no I got the notification too, just ignoring it!) So this has a smut at the end, but I marked it so it gets a little hot, but you can read up until the divider or you can skip it! Whatever makes you comfortable! So if you don't want to continue, up next: Sidney Crosby Mom and Dad part 4!
Warning: mentions of fights, smut under the second divider!
@astilinski24 Request: Could you do a Connor Mcdavid imagine where you secretly join a volleyball team again and you get asked to play for Canada and he gets mad you didn't tell him and then you argue and things get heated . If you do smut maybe end with a smut
~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/~/
You hadn't expected to get this far to be honest.
It had started when you were bored during one of Connor's road trips. You just needed something to do, anything was fine really. So when you started looking into things and found a volleyball team to join, you were stoked.
You hadn't played since you graduated high school, but surely it was like riding a bike, right?
You didn't tell Connor because he would want to support you and would end up dragging the boys to see a game or practice one day and you didn't want them to see you if you were terrible. So you were just going to hide it until you knew it would be ok.
What you hadn't been expecting was your coach, after the first practice, to start nagging you to try out for Team Canada.
You decided you could do it to make her happy and oh well it would be a fun story to tell Connor later.
Until you got the phone call accepting you.
"Holy crap" you breathed. Now you HAD to tell Connor. You could imagine how that conversation was going to go.
Oh hey babe. You guys played great! And you looked good! I'm playing volleyball for Canada in the Olympics. What do you want me to make for dinner?
Yeah... maybe you needed more tact than that.
"Hey I'm home" Connor called out as he opened the door. You bit down on your fingernail as you sat on the couch. "(Y/N)?"
"In here" you called out. You listened as Connor tossed his bag in the corner and came into the living room, dropping onto the couch next to you. "We need to talk."
"Uh oh" Connor teased. He took a look at your face and sat up straighter. "Wait. You look like someone ran over your dog. Are you breaking up with me?"
"No. Gosh no" you said. Connor's shoulders slumped in relief and he leaned back in the couch.
              "Ok lay it on me."
"Ok so you know how I used to play volleyball?" Connor nodded. "Ok so hear me out here ok?"
"You're scaring me, (Y/N). Are you sure you're not breaking up with me?"
"I promise." You took a deep breath. "I joined a volleyball team."
              "That's great, babe!"
"Wait, let me finish." Connor nodded. Ok now or never. "Well my coach wanted me to try out for Team Canada and I got the call today that I made the team." It was eerily quiet in the apartment for a long moment.
"You've been doing this for a while then" he finally said. You shifted.
"Almost since the beginning of your season." Connor nodded and remained quiet. "Connor say something."
"I don't know what you want me to say. You've joined a volleyball team and apparently have this whole other life I know nothing about."
"Not a whole life" you said weakly.
"Oh I'm sorry, just a significant portion of one. Tell me am I at least the only guy or did you find another one of those too?" Connor spat.
"That's not fair" you said softly. "I love you Connor."
"Well could have fooled me" he said. You felt the tears press against your eyes as you stood and moved to your bedroom. You knew he would be angry. You just didn't expect him to lash out at you.
              Storm off angry? Yup.
Play video games until he cooled off? Yes.
Accuse you of cheating on him and lash out like that? No. That just wasn't Connor.
You curled up in the bed and stared out the window.
He had every right to be mad. You did keep it from him for almost 6 months and trying out for an Olympic team was a huge deal. One you never shared with him when all he did was share his life, his accomplishments and his failures, with you.
You just didn't expect it to hurt this much.
He entered the room, sitting on his side of the bed.
"I'm sorry" you said softly, rolling to face him. "I didn't mean to keep it from you. I just knew-" You cut yourself off. You just knew he would be a supportive boyfriend.
              Crap. You were an idiot.
"I just" Connor ran a hand through his still damp hair. "I don't understand why you didn't tell me."
How did you explain things to him without coming off like a bitch?
"You're the best Connor. Best boyfriend, best friend, best cheerleader, best captain, and best hockey player." You took a deep breath looking up at him. "When I started it was just supposed to be one of those wait until you see how good you are situations, you know? I knew if I told you, you'd have dragged the boys to watch and I didn't want to embarrass myself, or you. Then it just... never came up."
"Trying out for Team Canada never came up?" he asked incredulously.
"I mean" you rolled to your back and stared at the ceiling. "I thought my coach was ridiculous when she suggested it. So I just went to humor her and get her off of my back. I didn't think I was actually good enough to make the team." You were both silent, trying to get your thoughts together. "I am really sorry. It was dumb to not tell you right away and tell you my fears then. You share so much of yourself with me and I was just... selfish." Connor sighed.
"No, you're right" he admitted. "I would have drug them to watch you play, whether you wanted me too or not. It was just a surprise." He ran his hand through his hair again. "But Team Canada, eh?" You laughed.
"Oh my gosh, Connor." You looked at him again. "We're both going to the Olympics!"
"Maybe" he said. You rolled your eyes.
"If Ovechkin can go then so can you" you said. Connor rolled on top of you, making you laugh. "Get off you goof!"
"Noooo" he cried, planting kisses all over your face. "You're leaving me for Korea!"
"I'm not leaving you buddy. You're coming with! I'll go beat Gary's face in myself if I have to. I'll take Patty too!" Connor laughed and kissed you hard. Your arms wound around his neck, pulling him closer. You moaned into his mouth as his hips rested against yours, his thighs parting your legs.
"Kinda hot" he said as he pulled away. He pressed a kiss to your throat, making you gulp.
"W-what is?" you gasped, his hands working magic on your body.
"The thought of you beating in some guy's face for me."
"You did it for me" you said, making Connor chuckle at the memory of the one time Connor got into a fight and broke his hand. "Connor" you murmured, running your hand through his hair. "Am I forgiven?" you asked.
"I guess. But" he added, his fingers slowly sliding down the zipper of your jeans. "You have to win gold or I'll be mad forever."
---------------SMUT-------------------------
"Can't have tha- Oh!" you sucked in a breath as his fingers stroked your clit. You writhed on the bed beneath him as he slowly playing your body like only he could.
Time slowed as the clothes melted from both of your bodies and Connor slid into you. You arched your back and pulled him closer while his mouth pulled a nipple to a tight peak, his fingers working on the other sensitive nipple.
He was slow and steady, his hips slamming into you with each long drawn out thrust. Your pleasure peaked and crashed over you in waves, making you shudder and writhe beneath him as he continued to thrust. You cried out as his fingers dipped between you, rubbing your clit and building your pleasure up at a faster pace.
"Connor" you hissed as your nails raked his back.
"One more baby" he said. You whimpered as Connor changed his angle, hitting your g-spot.
You cried out as another, harder orgasm hit you, milking the orgasm from Connor. He shuddered as he lay on top of you, both of you trying to get your breathing back to normal. You closed your eyes and pressed a kiss to his shoulder, stroking his back.
              "Love you, Con."
"Love you too, my little gold medalist."

Distract Me | Parched
CHARACTERS: March Anderson and Kent Parson LOCATION: Phone Conversation DATE: Early February (directly after this text message) NOTES: March calls Kent to cheer him up and they DTR :)
MARCH Exiting the messages app and opening the phone app, March hovered Kent's contact in her phone and pressed the blue phone. Pressing her phone to her ear, she eased into her head listening to the dial tone. "Hey," March said sweetly, "are you ready for petty college drama?"
KENT Kent let out a sigh of relief when his phone played March's ringtone--a cute underwater bubbly noise that made him smile every time. "Hey," he said, sinking back into his couch and pulling his comfy blanket up to his chest. "God, yes. Give me all the drama, please."
MARCH March giggles, pressing the phone closer to her ear. Looking over at her door, she makes sure it's closed m before she goes full Gossip Girl on Kent. "Okay, so. My teammate Janis has this super complicated thing with a guy on the lacrosse team." March starts off. "Which, first off. Was stupid from the start. It's the lacrosse team. It's like proven by Ransom and Holster that they're all douches." She rolls her eyes, before letting out a huff. "Anyways. A couple months back Janis found out her douche of a boyfriend was following with some girl on the soccer team. And his excuse was because we were on the road so it 'didn't count' like can you believe that?"
KENT Kent snorted. "What the fuck? What a serious douchecanoe, god. I don't know much about lacrosse dudes, but I've been around Ransom and Holster enough times to know that they're bad news." He hugged the couch pillow closer to his chest--it was a poor substitution for his cat, but it was better than nothing on a roadie. "So is she actually still dating this guy?"
MARCH "They're literally terrible, and super gross. I really don't know what she sees in him. I don't even know his name." Now sitting up, March pulled off her glasses and set them on the window sill next to her bed. "Oh no, it gets better! They got back together and were disgusting for like two weeks. Like normally their PDA is normal, but since they agreed to put the cheating behind them -- Which, fuck that. They've been off the charts." Putting her phone on speaker, March set it on her bed while she pulled her hair into a high pony tail. "Anyways. He like canceled on them going to the mall and shit and Janis went anyways cause she had to get whatever and she fucking saw him there with another girl. I swear to god I'm gonna punch him."
KENT "Oh my god are you fucking serious? What the hell? This guy is more than a douchecanoe, he's like a...a douche Titanic, Jesus Christ." Kent sat up on the hotel room's couch and leaned his cheek against his hand. "So? Did she finally dump his ass or are they going to try and /work things out/?"
MARCH March rolled her eyes and giggled, "Douche Titanic, that's hilarious I gotta tell Ransom and Holster that one." Getting off her bed, March walked over to her desk, searching for her headphones. After finding them she hopped back on her bed and plugged them into her phone and then her ears. "Not sure. I'm trying to stay out of it. The whole situation frustrates me. I told her back when the first incident happened that she could find someone better."
KENT "I mean, that's probably smart to stay out of it. Drama's only fun when you're on the outside." He picked at the edge of the throw pillow, distracted for a moment by the bold geometric pattern. "Hey, how are Ransom and Holster doing, anyway? Did they ever actually work their shit out? Because I'm not above meddling, babe."
MARCH "I will only be involved if I get to punch him. He maybe 6'4 but I have a mean right hook." March joked, even though she wasn't in the slightly. She really would punch that dude in the face. He really deserved it. "Oh! Yeah, they did. Actually? We're dating. All of us." March added a smile growing on her face. "It's pretty awesome."
KENT Kent dropped the pillow and grinned. "Shut up. All three of you? Dude, that is so great." He snuggled back into his blanket, his head resting on the arm of the couch. "You're so lucky, dating all these hot hockey boys. And holy shit, Holster is an excellent kisser. I really hope we end up on the same team because roadies suck without a buddy to make out with, you know?"
MARCH "It's been really nice. Holster is.. A lot of things. Really hot being one of them." March laughed and rolled her eyes again. "What can I say, I have a thing for hockey players I guess." March knew as much about hockey as a girlfriend of three hockey players should. But she has no clue how the NHL worked. If that was possible, she'd want that for Holster. Ultimately she wanted whatever made him happiest. "That would so fucking awesome, oh my god imagine?" Her mind still running off on a scenario. "I know, I hope whatever happens works out in his favor. He deserves it."
KENT Kent's smile softened. "He really does. He's gonna go to an awesome team, I just know it. Fingers crossed that he goes with the Bruins, though. It's pretty much for sure that I'm gonna be in Boston next season so." He closed his eyes and let out a happy sigh. "At least I'll be closer to everyone." He licked his lips. "I miss you."
MARCH March sighed and felt her chest tighten slightly. "I miss you too." She fell silent for a moment before speaking up again. "So Boston huh?" March smiled into her phone. "Hopefully I stay in the area for grad school so we're actually on the same side of the country."
KENT Kent turned on his side and pressed his forehead against the back of the couch, his chest full. "Yeah. The Bruins seem like a pretty good fit for me and. It will be nice to be close to home, you know? I didn't really want to go back to New York, but I wanted to be close to mom. And I've got a lot of friends in the Boston area, so that's nice, too." He licked his lips. "Any grad school prospects yet?"
MARCH "I have faith that you would be great anywhere, but Boston is closer." March felt herself smiling at the idea of seeing Kent more. Any time March thought of grad school for longer than three seconds anxiety hit her. And it hit her hard. "No." She said curtly. "I- Don't know if I want to go. It's, scary. I don't know. It's weird." Her voice was a tad shaky as she tried to calm herself down. She still has time to figure it out.
KENT "Ah. I'm sorry babe, I didn't realize it was a touchy subject." He but his lip. "It's gonna be okay. You have plenty of time to figure out what you want to do, honey." He fiddled with a loose thread on the couch cushion. "It's okay to wait a bit. These big things are scary, babe. There's nothing wrong with acknowledging that. Ad...well, soon you'll be dating two different NHL players so it's not like you're gonna go hungry or anything, you know? We've got your back."
MARCH "It's just. Don't want to leave." The realization dawns on her and a lot of it makes sense. She put off college applications because she didn't want to leave her friends. It's the same thing. "I wouldn't have time for volley anymore. And I've never wanted to go pro or anything but I love playing it. I've played it since high school." March starts rambling, feeling the words spill out of her. "I'm just so used to be here. Being the student athlete. Now I'm gonna be the graduate student? I want to be a freshmen again." She laughs softly and bites down on her lip only to laugh again shortly after. "Yes, my two NHL boyfriends are gonna support me while I figure my way through life."
KENT "Change is the worst," Kent agreed. "Even the good kind of change like graduating. It's hard. But...you don't have to leave, do you? I mean, I guess it depends on the kind of program you want to do, but have you looked at the grad degrees that Samwell offers? There's probably something in your field that you'd be interested in." He paused. "Do you have an idea about what you want to do? Or do you just want something that's related to marine bio?" He laughed and nodded his head. "Hell yeah your two NHL boyfriends are gonna support you!" His eyes widened a bit. "Wait. Um. Am I...your boyfriend?"
MARCH "I haven't thought of that actually.." Her voiced trailed off, thinking about all mailed letters sitting at her parents house. "I'll look into it, I kinda wanna see if I got into any of the places I already applied too. Even though just saying that makes me want to vomit." Realizing what she said, March falls silent. Her teeth biting into her tongue as she feels her mouth go dry. "Oh. Um. You don't have to be.. If you don't want to.. Do you?"
KENT "Um." Kent couldn't actually see his own face, but his cheeks felt flushed and warm. "That would be good. Yeah. I think I'd like to be...your boyfriend." He smiled softly. "I like you a lot, you know. I'm really happy that I decided to come back out that way. It's gonna be nice to see everyone more often." He glanced at the window, showing the smoggy view of Phoenix. "It gets a little lonely out here."
MARCH "A little nervous over there?" March teases lightly feeling her own confidence coming back. "Is that so? Is my charming good looks or quick wit that got you all in a tizzy?" She asks again. A laughter takes over her body shaking her shoulders. "I like you too Kent."
KENT Kent snorted. "Oh, it's the quick wit thing, for sure. Your charming good looks are just a bonus." He ducked his head and grinned. "I'm glad you like me, babe. We definitely need to do something next time I'm near Samwell."
MARCH "You sure know how to make a girl blush Parson," March felt warm all over. From the apples of her cheeks to the pit of her stomach. It was a feeling she also felt around Ransom and Holster too. "I wish you could come to one of my games without being bombarded by fans." March pouted, though she knew Kent couldn't see her. "When Thing 1 & Thing 2 are able to come they're a riot."
KENT "Maybe I can come undercover. I'm sure the guys could sneak me in. We can bond over how fucking awesome our girlfriend is." He grabbed the bag of pretzels on the coffee table and popped one in his mouth. "Thanks for calling me, babe. It's nice, talking to you. And I like the sound of your voice."
MARCH Letting out a giggle, March shakes her head, her nose wiggling as she tries to fight off the blush blossoming on her cheeks. Even though she's alone and it can't be seen because of her dark complexion, she's still slightly embarrassed. "Hearing you say that makes me so happy, you don't even know." Pulling her blanket over her body, March snuggled into her bed and smiled into the once. "I just want you to be happy. It sucks you're so far away. I know about ten different ways to cheer you up."
KENT Kent let out a soft sigh. It was comforting to talk to her--she just got him. "Well talking to you makes me happy." He ate another pretzel with a grin. "Ten whole ways to cheer me up? Really? What would you do?"
MARCH "One of them would be to hug you for as long as you wanted. And sing Britney Spears songs until we couldn't breathe. I could also cook you dinner, I'm pretty awesome in the kitchen," March turned on her back and stared at the ceiling. "I could tell you, but I think it would be more fun to just show you the next time you're here."
KENT Kent blushed and stared down at his blanket. "All of those sound amazing. I am definitely holding you to that when I'm up there. I think we have a game there sooner or later. I'll have to check the schedule." He yawned and laid back on the couch, a couple pretzels spilling in the process. He would deal with them later. "I am fucking beat. Today was too long."
MARCH Thinking about seeing Kent again made the butterflies in her stomach goes crazy. "Hopefully we can make something work." After hearing Kent yawn, March let one out herself; rubbing one of her eyes. "You should get some rest babe. Might make you feel better."
KENT Kent sighed. "Yeah, I guess. Maybe I'll make Swoops snuggle with me or something. Make things a little less lonely." He frowned down at hands, which were clenched together. "I miss him. Is that fucked up?"
MARCH March felt her heart clench in her chest, hearing Kent's sad words. "Oh, honey. It's not at all." March said softly wishing she could do more than just call him. "It sucks. It really fucking sucks. And I know you care about him. But in the long run this will be better for you."
KENT Kent sniffed quietly and nodded. "Yeah. I know you're right. It's just...weird. I don't know." He sighed again and sat up. "I'm gonna go find Swoops and head to bed. Thanks for distracting me, babe. You're the best."
MARCH March frowned, closed her eyes and sighed. Hearing Kent sniffle made her angry, and there was barely anything she could do. "Stop being such a famous NHL hockey player so you can come here and I can cuddle you silly." She sounded angry, but not at him. "Okay.." Her voice trailed off as she bit down on her lower lip. "Get some sleep okay? Text me if you need anything." March felt herself smile, though she felt she needed the praise. "Anytime sweetheart."
KENT Kent laughed and said, "Yeah, I'll work on that." He nodded to himself. "I will. And I'll definitely text you in the morning." He rubbed his eyes and headed for the comfy-looking bed. "Good night, babe."
