Selena Gomez says this type of therapy completely changed her life
Selena Gomez is no stranger to the living in the spotlight. Since debuting on Barney & Friends at age 7, the actress has catapulted to stardom on TV, in movies, and in the music world. Plus, she’s a charter member of the most famous squad in the world, along with Taylor Swift and Blake Lively—and she even holds the top spot on Instagram, as the single most-followed person on the app (yes, including Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian).
But just because she seemingly has it all doesn’t mean she’s not human. Exhibit A: her struggles with anxiety and depression.
“We girls, we’re taught to be almost too resilient, to be strong and sexy and cool and laid-back, the girl who’s down. We also need to feel allowed to fall apart.”
In a recent interview with Vogue, the 24-year-old opened up about her ongoing battle with mental health issues and the big (and small) changes she’s made to keep them in check.
During her Revival world tour, the star says she was overcome with feelings of insecurity and self-doubt. “My self-esteem was shot. I was depressed, anxious. I started to have panic attacks right before getting onstage, or right after leaving the stage,” she explains. “Basically I felt I wasn’t good enough, wasn’t capable. I felt I wasn’t giving my fans anything, and they could see it—which, I think, was a complete distortion.”
That realization led her to cancel the tour early and head to a three-month-long stint at a psychiatric facility in Tennessee, where she, along with six other “normal girls,” attended daily solo and group therapy to help deal with all facets of mental health. And she surrendered her cellphone during her stay there. Since then, she’s completely given up the reins to her Instagram account, fearing that she’ll get sucked back into the spiral. (Happens to the best of us.)
Post-treatment, Gomez has said she’s never felt better—and continues to keep up her therapy habit in Los Angeles, where she sees her shrink five days a week. And although she’s taking a break from tour and movies, she’s become a huge advocate for dialectical behavior therapy (DBT): a technique developed to treat borderline personality disorder by improving communication, regulating emotions, and incorporating mindfulness practices.
“DBT has completely changed my life,” she explains. “I wish more people would talk about therapy. We girls, we’re taught to be almost too resilient, to be strong and sexy and cool and laid-back, the girl who’s down. We also need to feel allowed to fall apart.” (She’s even producing a Netflix miniseries called 13 Reasons Why, which deals with social media pressure and teen suicide.)
Best of all, she’s focusing on being mindful—perhaps with a new beau of hers in tow?—and continuing to keep up her healthy habits, from ginger shots to rest days. “For a change,” she says, “I’m not eager to chase a moment. I don’t think there’s a moment for me to chase.”
From Kristen Bell to Ellie Goulding, many stars have been opening up about their mental health: Find out 4 things Bell taught us about depression. And hear how Goulding’s fitness routine helped her deal with anxiety.

Why this supermodel-turned-yogi clears her “monkey glands” every a.m.
Welcome to My Morning Routine, where Angela Lindvall and other good-life gurus share their personal (frequently surprising, often healthy) morning rituals—to help you make your a.m.’s more awesome.
Angela Lindvall Model-turned-Kundalini teacher, mom, health coach, and environmental activist
I try to set my alarm pretty early because I have to get my kids to school, but I really enjoy having some time to myself first thing—so I’m usually up around 5:30 a.m.
In that very first moment, I keep my eyes closed and just let my mind wander. It always surprises me what my first thoughts are. Then, I try to focus in on what I’m grateful for—all the blessings in my life, projects I’m loving—and start the day off with positive thinking.
I don’t always do this, but occasionally—especially if I’m feeling down—I’ll make a list of all of the negative thoughts I have and turn them all into positives. I’ll record them and play that to myself first thing in the morning. It’s such an inspirational tool and it really sets the tone for the day.
I’ll head into the bathroom and do my business, splash water on my face, and clear out my monkey glands. That’s basically when you just spit and hack everything into the sink—sort of gross, but very effective. I’ll usually follow that up by drinking hot water and lemon.
I try to meditate or do yoga [every morning]. I’ll always incorporate some light breathing, stretching, and some sort of prayer just try to wake my body up gently. If I don’t have time to work out in the mornings, I’ll try to do tae kwon do in the evenings or a yoga or Pilates class in the afternoon.
I’ll usually make breakfast for myself—eggs, a little bit of sauteed greens, and piece of Ezekiel or sourdough bread. I also take all of my supplements and vitamins then: curcumin, vitamin D, fish oil, spirulina, and a digestive enzyme with my breakfast.
Throughout the entire morning, I’m always scrolling through my phone catching up on emails. I recently learned a really cool trick to get rid of all of my spam: I’ll type unsubscribe into the search bar, and delete all of the junk I don’t want.
Once my younger son’s off to school, I’ll go on a light 45-minute walk. I love to breathe in the morning air and just let my mind wander. When I’m back I’ll get in my sauna and sweat, submerge myself in cold water, and then finally start my day.
Working out in the mornings is hard—find out why Kayla Itsines never schedules an a.m. sweat session. Or add supplements to your schedule with these picks that could help give you your best skin yet.

Bella Hadid’s genius trick for getting a great night’s sleep
You might have tried everything under the sun to get more high-quality zzz’s—hitting the sack in the buff, sudsing up with beer shower a la Margot Robbie, or sipping on some sleepytime tea.
But according to Bella Hadid, the one do-anywhere trick you might be missing out on is setting your bedtime to a soundtrack.
In a new interview with Teen Vogue, the 20-year-old model shares her secret for getting a solid night of rest, no matter where in the world her schedule takes her. (Currently? To the runways at Paris Fashion Week.)
“I recently started listening to meditation music, which makes me have a deeper sleep, even if I just have four hours,” Hadid shares. “I’m usually out by the fourth song.” Her favorite: iTunes’ 50 Best Meditation Songs Collection.
Between this solid advice and Gigi’s brilliant butt-sculpting hack, it seems like the Hadid sisters might be as good at sharing wellness tips as they are at scoring fashion campaigns.
If you’re still struggling to get a good night’s sleep, find out the surprising ways your partner might sabotaging your slumber. Or see the 5 things that actually affect you while you snooze, according to Dr. Oz.

Tom Brady wants to show up on your doorstep with dinner (kind of)
When it comes to food, Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen are nothing if not generous with advice. They’ve shared their vegan favorites for every mood, location, and occasion—from tropical vacations and holiday parties to snack-time cravings. And now Tom Brady is getting that. much. closer to just ringing your bell and handing you a plate himself.
The star quarterback is teaming up with vegan delivery brand Purple Carrot for TB12 Performance Meals, a three-times-per-week service that includes fresh, pre-portioned ingredients and directions to create simple, but delicious, plant-based meals.
“So many times people ask me, ‘What do you do?’ Well this is one of the answers.”
Made without gluten, dairy, eggs, seafood, meat, or processed foods, the meals—which range from crispy turnip cakes with tabbouleh and white lentil risotto with roasted veggies to ramen with gingered greens and broccolini—are high in protein and limit the use of soy and any refined sugars. (And may or may not guarantee a Super Bowl win, TBH.)
Photo: TB12
“I am so excited to introduce our first TB12 Performance Meals that deliver right to your door!” the sleep-oriented athlete wrote on Instagram. “So many times people ask me, ‘What do you do?’ Well this is one of the answers! Our bodies are our temples and you get out of it what you put into it.”
Each week includes three dinners with two servings for $78—which clocks in at $13 a plate—and the service is now available for pre-order online, with the first box shipping out the first week of April.
And since no dessert is built into the plan (yet), maybe these Tom-and-Gisele treats will do the trick?
Can’t wait for this meal delivery service to hit the scene? Try one of these super-healthy alternatives. Or whip up your own mermaid toast—the Instagrammable breakfast of the moment.

The one thing you can do to be happier at work
You steer clear of the office gossip, tackle your to-do list with ease, and even clock in a quick stroll around the office whenever your mind gets stuck—but yet, your 9-to-5 is still less than inspiring.
But it turns out that the one thing you should do to boost your at-work mood can be done while you’re still at home—have more sex.
Those who were getting lucky at home reported higher levels of productivity and overall happiness in their positions (no pun intended).
A new study, published in the Journal of Management, followed the work and sex habits of 159 married people over the course of two weeks and found that those with a higher roll-in-the-hay total had more positive moods the following day. But that’s not all—by completing two daily surveys on their moods, office performance, and job satisfaction, those who were getting lucky at home reported higher levels of productivity and overall happiness in their positions (no pun intended) and companies as a whole.
Just like exercise can be linked to positive mood boosts, a little extra hanky panky pre- or post-work can release dopamine and oxytocin, get your heart rate up, and even get your skin glowing. And the best part? The researchers found equal effects in both men and women.
“This is a reminder that sex has social, emotional, and physiological benefits, and it’s important to make it a priority,” study co-author Keith Leavitt, an associate professor at OSU’s College of Business, said in a statement. “Just make time for it.” And considering that a recent study found that Americans as a whole are having less sex, sounds like we have some work cut out for us.
If you’re in need of some more inspiration, find out 5 ways that working out regularly will majorly rev up your sex life. And then learn how to have mind-blowing sex using Kundalini yoga techniques.

5 rules for living your best (and healthiest) life, according to Emma Watson
At this point, Emma Watson is practically the poster child for health-savvy feminists everywhere. (And you can bet she knows her Audre Lorde.)
Case in point: In addition to her role as an United Nations ambassador, the Beauty and the Beast actress is a fanatical self-care pro, a champion of women’s rights, and an expert when it comes to eco-friendly fashion and beauty. (And she still has time to give out genius advice to unsuspecting commuters.)
“[Friends is] one of those comforting things to have in the background that just kind of makes you feel like everything’s going to be okay.”
But, as busy as Watson is, she’s learned to turn what makes her feel healthy into a lifestyle—so she never gets too overwhelmed.
Whether she’s stocking up on feminist reads or scrolling Instagram for the latest in sustainable style, the Harry Potter alum shared the healthy habits that round out her busy schedule in a recent interview with The Coveteur. (Consider us impressed.)
Scroll down for 5 elements you can use to create a Watson-approved, good-for-you routine.
Photo: Instagram/@emmawatson
1. Make self-care a priority
You can’t have a crazy, busy schedule without making sure you’re nurturing yourself along the way: “I am [big into self-care]. Meditation’s been very good. I’m a big bath girl. I take a bath every day; that’s definitely part of my self-care.” (Perhaps a good nightly-soak-plus-face-mask-combo would do the trick?)
Photo: Jake Rosenberg
2. Take time to recharge
Watson already secured her bragging rights as the ultimate “fanatical nester,” but it turns out that she’s not just silently meditating while skipping a night out in favor of staying in: “This is going to make me seem very uncool, but I will watch Friends reruns forever. My friends are like, ‘Why are you doing this?’ It’s one of those comforting things to have in the background that just kind of makes you feel like everything’s going to be okay.”
Photo: Instagram/@emmawatson
3. Pay attention to what you’re wearing
As a huge advocate for sustainable fashion, Watson has spoken publicly on why it’s important to use locally sourced and organic fabrics and materials in your clothing—not to mention shown off her serious style chops on the red carpet and Instagram. (She even created a new handle dedicated to her eco-conscious looks while promoting Beauty and the Beast.)
“It’s actually not just about even what you purchase; it’s about, whatever you buy, would you wear it 30 times? That makes anything ethical and sustainable. That’s really the issue that we have with our fashion, that people are buying clothes and throwing them away after wearing them twice, filling land mines, creating unsafe working conditions. Destroying the planet, essentially.” And she swears it doesn’t need to be all couture or high-end designers—some of her favorite ways to wear it? Visiting vintage or consignment shops or checking out budget-friendly brands, from Teeki to Alternative Apparel.
Photo: Jake Rosenberg
4. Wear natural beauty products
And it makes sense that her sustainability extends into beauty, favoring an 80/20 rule for all products (and no, it’s different than the diet): “The majority of the things I buy I try to have chemical-free as much as possible, but there are some things which you just can’t find. Like a natural, waterproof mascara. But I’m trying!” (We feel you, Emma—until then, we’re swiping on the tried-and-true.)
Photo: Instagram/@emmawatson
5. Find workouts that inspire you
Although the actress rarely serves up sweaty selfies, she has been known to dabble in things that inspire her (and happen to rev up the heart rate at the same time). She recently shared her affinity for quick—but strenuous—workouts that also involve the mind. She recently showed off her boxing chops when training with a self-defense coach, but most often she sticks to the three S’s (stretching, strength and stillness), according to her trainer Emily Drew: “The workouts are approximately 30 minutes in duration, need little equipment, and are perfectly balanced.” We’d expect no less from this super-savvy star.
If you’re ready to make the jump into eco-friendly beauty and fashion, a la Emma Watson: find out which three products you should ditch ASAP from your makeup bag. Or check out these 10 sustainable, chic activewear brands you can actually sweat in.

Nike just launched its first-ever plus-size activewear line
After launching a sports bra campaign with plus-size model Paloma Elsesser last July, Nike was applauded for its ground-breaking, body-positivity-charged move.
Some in the sweat set, however, quickly jumped on the activewear giant after the launch when they found out that the bras only went up to an E—not exactly plus-size—and there weren’t any other pieces to pair with the bras.
Thankfully, the superstar sports brand was listening—and Nike has officially launched an extended sizes department in its online store, the very first women’s collection at Nike above an XL.
“Ultimately, beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, and being strong is beautiful.”
“The motivation in young girls today is to be strong. And while strong looks different for everybody, what’s consistent in athletes today is that fitness is very much a part of her lifestyle,” explains Helen Boucher, vice president of women’s training apparel at Nike. “Ultimately, beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, and being strong is beautiful. Strong is the keyword for us—size doesn’t matter.”
The extended sizes range from a 1X through 3X, with prices sticking around the norm of Nike’s women’s pieces, from $75 for graphic sports bras to $120 for geometric leggings.
Let’s hope that, like so many other things that Nike becomes the trendsetter on, other brands begin to follow suit.

Are these the most office-appropriate leggings ever?
It’s no surprise that fashion brands are flipping the formula and creating athleisure-inspired work attire. (Hey, we’re predicting that “workleisure will be one of 2017’s biggest wellness trends.)
But now their designers are creating seriously on-trend leggings and pants, made strictly for those out-of-the-gym moments: everything from wide-leg culottes to super-flared bell-bottom trousers, in machine-washable silks and sweat-wicking chinos.
“We want to set a new standard for what the clothing of the future looks like.”
Carbon38’s latest collection (out today) is its first that entirely falls under the no-yoga-allowed category: “Our idea is to take the DNA of activewear and implement it into pieces that are beautiful and chic, yet comfortable, moveable, and wrinkle-resistant,” explains Yoon Chung, chief design and merchandising officer for the brand. “The collection has a feminine touch, with ties, flares, and cut-out details—but the advanced tech fabrics add that modern element.”
Similarly, Under Armour Sport, whose new collection headed by Tim Coppens also drops today, is filled with work-to-life hybrid clothing: comfortable to lounge in, but still boardroom-appropriate (including a neoprene blazer).
That futuristic feel is what sets these clothes apart from their retro counterparts. Aday—one of the original pioneers of the idea that a capsule wardrobe can take you through your whole day—is continuing to reinvent office-appropriate silhouettes and make them comfortable and machine-washable.
“We want to make sure our products don’t scream ‘spandex,’ but are still comfortable and breathable so we will want to wear them all the time,” explains Aday co-founder Nina Faulhaber. “We want to set a new standard for what the clothing of the future looks like—one that lasts through the seasons and focuses on versatility, which thereby frees up space.”
Don’t worry—workleisure poses no threat to your perfectly curated drawer of leggings. But this new breed of pants will give you some other options to ponder every morning, as you put together your (super-comfortable) boss-lady uniform du jour.

How a jockstrap inspired the invention of the sports bra
Today, sports bras aren’t just sports bras. In addition to providing super-supportive control, you can find styles designed to do everything from making you a better runner to giving you an Instagram-ready look.
But in the ’70s? They hadn’t even been invented yet. So the next time you pick out a chic bralette, thank Lisa Lindahl, the woman who started it all.
After taking up running in the Me Decade, Lindahl had one option, bra-wise: her regular, underwire bra. And she hated it, she told WBUR’s Karen Given.
Not only did her breasts hurt from lack of actual support, but she envied her male running partner, who could peel off his shirt during humid summer days and tuck it into the back of his shorts.
Taking inspiration from her husband, who jokingly wrapped a jockstrap around his chest saying, “Hey ladies, here’s your jockbra,” Lindahl says she realized it could work.
Taking inspiration from her husband, who jokingly wrapped a jockstrap around his chest saying, “Hey ladies, here’s your jockbra,” Lindahl says she realized it could work. She and her costume designer friend Polly Smith took two jockstraps and cut them apart. The cups became, well, cups. The leg straps crossed over the back to create shoulder straps and the waistband turned into the bottom band.
“And when I went running in that, it worked. So we deconstructed the jockstrap and re-created it,” she says. And thus, the world’s first sports bra was invented: the Jogbra. Lindahl has since sold her company—which became Champion, maybe you’ve heard of it?—but her legacy supports every woman who has ever gone on to break a sweat.
If you’ve got your sports bra style on lock already, why not pair it with a killer pair of leggings: these are the all-time best-sellers from your favorite brands. And show off your trendy look with an equally chic hairstyle, like this braided ponytail.

The 9 best-selling leggings you should have in your closet
There’s an undeniable high that comes from scouring social media for the latest athleisure fads. (Pom pom sneakers, anyone?) That same crazy lust is what drives you to strategically refresh your browser to score a wait-listed item. But when it comes to leggings, sometimes you don’t want a fitness-fashion fling—you want a serious relationship that’s guaranteed to last.
So which pairs are worth locking down for the long haul? To find out, Iturned to the insiders at some tried-and-true activewear brands, who gave me the inside scoop on their most popular leggings of all time. (You know the type: That ride-or-die style that keeps getting released—and selling out—in different colors and patterns because it’s just that good.)
They’ve all got a reputation for fitting like a dream, looking fly come happy hour, and remaining strong through endless rounds of burpees and jump squats.
As it turns out, all the MVPs are the quiet, hardworking kind: mostly shades of black and grey with subdued patterns, maybe a hint of shine. Many have a celebrity fan or two. And they’ve all got a reputation for fitting like a dream, looking fly come happy hour, and remaining strong (and opaque) through endless rounds of burpees and jump squats.
You may not be setting any trends with these, and you’ll most likely see three other girls wearing them during any given workout. But you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that you’ll still love them long after your prized Puma creepers feel passé—after all, thousands of besotted fans can’t be wrong.
Here are the 9 best-selling tights from go-to brands in the activewear game.
Photo: Outdoor Voices
Outdoor Voices Two-Tone Warmup Leggings, $95
These colorblock tights catapulted onto the fitness fashion stage thanks to unofficial endorsements from Lena Dunham and Gwyneth Paltrow. But why have they become a mainstay? “The gray is so universally flattering,” explains Tyler Haney, Outdoor Voices’ founder. “Most people buy them with the matching crop top and it becomes their uniform for activity—a great first layer for whatever they’re doing.”
Photo: Alo Yoga
Alo Yoga Moto Legging, $110
With an urban-chic vibe, it’s no wonder these leggings continue to be the star of Alo‘s assortment. It helps that the Instagram-friendly style has a long list of cool-girl fans, from Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid to Taylor Swift.
Photo: Under Armour
UnderArmour HeatGear Armour Legging, $44.99
These leggings are all about the understated—but powerful—technical specs, like second-skin compression fit and antimicrobial fabric. (Leave ’em in your gym bag overnight? No problem.) That might be why, according to UnderArmour insiders, they’re the top-selling pair for the brand in all of North America.
Photo: Sweaty Betty
Sweaty Betty Zero Gravity Run Leggings, $135
Sweaty Betty calls this style a “bum-sculpting hero” due to its knack for flying off shelves. (Get it?) It’s constantly being repackaged into different prints and patterns—chalk it up to the high demand from customers and covetable collaborators like ModelFit.
Photo: Koral
Koral Lustrous Legging, $88
Another barre-to-bar favorite, these liquid-look pants from Koral sell like mad in black, gray, and navy alike. “We think this style does so well because it’s the perfect blend of innovative performance technology and chic design,” explains Ilana Kugel, the brand’s creative director. Stylish motorcycle jacket not included (but strongly suggested).
Photo: Tory Sport
Tory Sport Chevron Leggings, $125
When Tory Burch’s athletic offshoot arrived on the scene, it was a pair of track pants that stole the show (and, subsequently, sold out in just one day). But the slow-and-steady winner for the brand continues to be this understatedly preppy Chevron legging, which comes in six different colorways.
Photo: Carbon38
Carbon38 Takara Leggings, $98
Shiny pants, FTW. “Our all-time best sellers are our Takara leggings—we can barely keep them in stock,” says Lisa Kraynak, CMO of Carbon38. “They look great on every body type and the versatile fabric makes them perfect for working out, traveling, and [the] office.” And with rad seasonal colors like this red wine hue, why wouldn’t you want to stock up?
Photo: Lululemon
Lululemon Wunder Under Legging, $98
The legging that launched a craze, the Wunder Under is the all-time best-seller from the beloved brand. The reason? Lululemon continues to produce it in different patterns, but never messes with the lightweight fabric and high-waisted fit of the design—making them perfect for both high-impact and low-impact workouts (and some of those in-between lounging around moments, too).
Photo: Bandier
We Wore What x Strut-This Scottie Marble Ankle Tie-Up Legging, $130
The fashionista behind the buzzy blog We Wore What wasn’t messing around when she developed an activewear line with Strut-This. With lace-up sides and an on-trend marble print, these leggings went quick at Bandier as soon as they dropped. “The We Wore What collection sold out almost immediately—with a 2,000-person online waitlist,” says the store’s owner Jennifer Bandier. Although they’re back in stock, she notes that “the marble leggings continue to remain our top seller since they went on sale.” Now that deserves a double tap.
You’ve updated your leggings wardrobe, so now it’s time to spruce up your kicks: 13 white sneakers that will always look good. And for insta-chic post-workout hair, try this easy styling trick beloved by Italian cool-girls.

The one thing you can do to boost your immunity—no meds needed
During cold and flu season, there’s almost no way to avoid catching some kind of bug. You wash your hands often, cover your sweaty head with a beanie post-workout, and even hit the weight machines with a triple wipe down before you do your thing.
And yet, the germs still get you.
While most people have a general idea that a good night of sleep can help ward off sickness, new research indicates exactly why your immune system goes down when you’re skipping zzz’s—and might actually convince you to forgo your nightly Netflix in favor of more shut-eye.
“Immune system functions best when it gets enough sleep. Seven or more hours of sleep is recommended for optimal health.”
Conducted at the University of Washington and published in the journal Sleep, the study took blood samples from 11 pairs of identical twins with different sleep patterns and discovered that, in each duo, the sibling who slept the least had a more depressed immune system.
And what’s significant about this study is that researchers used “real world” conditions (instead of observing participants in a sleep lab)—and showed for the first time that chronically skimping on sleep can shut down key functions having to do with immune response, the paper’s senior author, Sina Gharib, MD, explains to ScienceDaily.
“What we show is that the immune system functions best when it gets enough sleep. Seven or more hours of sleep is recommended for optimal health,” says lead author Dr. Nathaniel Watson, co-director of the UW Medicine Sleep Center at Harborview Medical Center.
Crucially, the researchers also reported that over the past century, people in the United States are sleeping an estimated one and a half to two hours less than they used to—with about a third of working adults clocking in less than six hours per night. (In other words, if there were ever a time to take Tom Brady up on his clean sleeping regimen, it would be now.)
Speaking of prioritizing sleep, find out why staying in is officially the new going out. Even Emma Watson’s on board—she calls herself a “fanatical nester.”

4 things you need to know about the insanely cool new Tracy Anderson-Gwyneth Paltrow studio
When dream team Gwyneth Paltrow and Tracy Anderson announced their conscious coupling for an upcoming studio space on 59th Street in New York City last summer, there were very few details known.
If their past projects were any indication, though, we knew it’d be amazing. But with the few clues we had—it’s in an old movie theater with about 5,000 square feet and 20-foot ceilings—it seemed like the sky (well, I guess the ceiling) was the limit for the chic opportunities the super-fit duo had to explore.
With the opening only days away—doors officially open on March 1—Anderson finally dished on the unconventional location, including what they did with the screening rooms, how to get a coveted spot on the membership list, and the scoop on that Paltrow-run cafe next door.
Paltrow is the brains behind the recipes—and she even chimes in on the song choices used in classes if she doesn’t like them, Anderson says.
“This is seriously the studio of my dreams—for me, I feel like I’ve finally been able to perfect the content, music, floor, everything that goes into giving our clients to best workout possible,” Anderson says. “When it comes to the design specs, I’ve given all of the reins to the pros and my brilliant team to pull together the coolest, chicest, and smartest architectural designs—and it’s really turned about beautifully.”
Scroll down for everything you need to know about Anderson’s brand new spot—and get a sneak peek at the design.

It’s still a movie theater
While some fitness studios would completely gut the previous owners’ setup, Anderson used it to her advantage, creating a space that channels that Hollywood feel: “I feel like it’s this really cool symbolism because my entire mission of my job has always been to help people become the stars of their own bodies and lives,” she explains.
With the marquee still lit out front—announcing class times, instead of matinees—and corporate offices housed in the old projection room looking out over the large studio, the new workout palace still holds some of those “opening night” details.
But they’ve turned the old screening rooms into dance cardio dream spots—adding in Anderson’s signature Super G shock-absorbent floor, soundproof walls (to contain that state-of-the-art sound system), and super specific temperatures for the ultimate sweat sesh. Plus, she teases that she might even throw in some super healthy popcorn down the line (fingers crossed).

There’s a selfie room
And to help you own your star quality? Anderson’s team has installed a photo-ready space, perfect for capturing that post-sweat glow. “We have such an amazing sense of community on social media,” Anderson explains, referencing her #TAmily on Instagram. “Everyone is so smart and accepting, so we wanted to give everyone a chance to channel that camaraderie in the studio.”

There’s still space to join
Although they wouldn’t share the exact numbers, Anderson and her team say they are 90 percent full (sounds pretty close to waitlist status). If you are able to grab one of the remaining spots—with a $1,500 initiation fee for the $900-per-month membership—you’ll get a one-on-one meeting with Anderson and Maria Davidson, her lead trainer. “Even though we’re expanding, I want to continue to give our members special and customized attention,” Anderson explains.
“I’m so proud of our individualized content—it’s what makes us unparalleled in the industry. Each person can get whatever plan and membership that works best for them, but we’re always learning and pushing to make sure that it’s the perfect thing for each client.”
And if you’re prefer to try a few drop-in classes, you can do that as well—but only on off-peak hours, so you’ll need to be able to make it to, say, a 2 p.m. class on a Tuesday.

About this Gwyneth cafe
I couldn’t leave the call without asking about the cafe, based off of Anderson’s organic food line with Paltrow, 3 Green Hearts—which she says is a totally equal collaboration.
“We’re so close, so the nice thing about our friendship and partnership is that we have become so aligned in all of our decisions,” she explains. Paltrow is the brains behind the recipes—and she even chimes in on the song choices used in classes if she doesn’t like them, Anderson says.
“She’s so knowledgeable about using whole foods and organic ingredients, but some of her recipes aren’t exactly weight loss-conducive,” says Anderson, so they’ve set up a system of putting a green heart on the fitness guru’s picks.
Her favorite menu items? Any and all of the tacos and salads, which she says all include digestive enzymes and probiotics, so be healthy but satisfying.
And while the cafe is adjacent to the studio, it’s not exclusive to members—anyone can pop in to try something out or use the meal delivery service. (Anyone up for GP-approved tacos tonight?)
Even if you’re not in New York, you can get in on the dance cardio magic with this full week of Anderson’s at-home workout videos. Or see the butt-sculpting workout that her longtime client Jennifer Lopez swears by.

The one wellness trend Emma Watson can’t get enough of
Emma Watson is good at a lot of things: doling out advice, dominating the feminist game, and dressing stylishly with an attention to eco-friendly fashion—not to mention her day job, acting.
But, in a recent interview with Elle UK, Watson admits to one of her favorite pastimes: nesting. (Same! Staying in is the new going out, after all.)
And although she’s taken the past year “off” from work, she’s still served as a United Nations ambassador, guest-edited Esquire along with Tom Hanks, met with Canadian Prime Minister (and yogi) Justin Trudeau, and launched her own worldwide book club. (Sounds a lot like your vacations, right?)
“I’m the kind of person who needs 24 hours where I don’t see another living thing.”
So to combat her busy sabbatical, the Beauty and the Beast actress has become, in her words, “a fanatical nester”—explaining she’s “the kind of person who needs 24 hours where I don’t see another living thing.”
And while it’s hard to know whether she’s sipping on matcha or Earl Grey when she’s cuddled up under the duvet—she is British after all—she certainly knows how to stay productive in her solitude, promoting her favorite inspirational books, from feminist picks like The Color Purple and Marjane Satrapi’s Persepolis to more practical reads like Arianna Huffington’s The Sleep Revolution: “I am a sucker for anything that promises to change my life.”
Next step, face masks—may we offer you some suggestions, Emma?
Watson’s not alone in her nesting in habits—and this cozy trend proves it. And while you’re home, you won’t feel bad about spending all day in these super-chic pajamas.

The buzzy sneaker trend that Carrie Bradshaw would definitely be into
You turn to Instagram for the coolest street style inspo, dreamy hygge decor ideas, and even the latest genius avocado innovation. But the constant search? The next it-sneaker.
Ever since the Stan Smith blew up on the scene, there’s yet to be a shoe that quite matches its widespread popularity—not that there aren’t chic kicks to try out in the meantime. (Hello, ballet-inspired lace-ups.)
The latest in #trending footwear? The pom-pom embellishment.
If there was ever an episode of Sex and the City that featured Carrie Bradshaw at a protest, she’d definitely be rocking a pair of pom-pom sneakers.
Ever since Fendi introduced the furry friend as the designer accessory of the season (originally on a keychain, a couple years back), the pom-pom has made its way onto sweaters, stilettos, and necklaces. And most recently? On the tops of everyone’s favorite slip-on sneaker styles, from budget-friendly brands like Topshop and Sam Edelman to high-end boutiques like Rebecca Minkoff and Josefinas.
While not exactly meant for the understated capsule wardrobe wearer who swears by a certain all-white sneaker, this bold style (which ranges from $45 to $150-plus) has blown up on Instagram, taking social media fashionistas’ #OOTD from classic to statement-making.
And who can blame the double-tap love? With all the drama in the world, you might as well be wearing something that’s so irreverent, it puts a smile on your face. If there was ever an episode of Sex and the City that featured Carrie Bradshaw at a protest, she’d definitely be rocking a pair of pom-pom sneakers.
Ready to lace up the new style that’s spreading some (sorely needed) sunshine? Scroll down to see a few of the brands making pom-pom shoes.

You have to see the super-healthy menu options for this year’s Oscars
To prepare for the Academy Awards, celebrities spend weeks eating healthy, swapping out meals for juice cleanses, and adding daily sweat sessions and crazy beauty treatments to make sure they’re in perfect red carpet shape for Hollywood’s biggest night.
But once they’ve arrived? They can finally relax in their couture gowns, sip on champagne with their fellow famous friends, and—best of all—eat a delicious meal crafted by the renowned chef Wolfgang Puck.
At a media preview for the event, the menu was unveiled—and taste-tested—People reports. And while it’s filled with lavish items like black truffle chicken pot pie and Moroccan-spiced Wagyu beef short ribs, topped with a Parmesan funnel cake (seriously!), Puck also created menu options for every kind of eater this year.
Some of the healthiest options? Vegan carrot juice-infused pasta; taro root tacos with shrimp, mango, avocado and chipotle aioli.
Some of the healthiest options? Vegan carrot juice-infused pasta; taro root tacos with shrimp, mango, avocado and chipotle aioli; and caviar-topped smoked salmon appetizers in the shape of actual Oscar statues—and of course, gold-dusted truffle popcorn. (I think I’m still waiting for my ticket to arrive—unless it got lost in the mail?)
No matter if the stars circled chicken or fish on their menus for the evening, Puck will be using locally sourced ingredients for the entire night—and plans to donate all uneaten foods to Chefs to End Hunger.
The jury’s still out on whether Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling will scoop up the highest honors—but either way, at least they’ll eat well.
Prep for the big night like your favorite celeb—this is how much they really spend every week on their healthy habits. Or check out the natural beauty products that Rachel McAdams’ and Hilary Duff’s makeup artists can’t live without.

The one thing Olivia Culpo does every morning for an instant mood boost
Welcome to My Morning Routine, where Olivia Culpo and other good-life gurus share their personal (frequently surprising, often healthy) morning rituals—to help you make your a.m.’s more awesome.
Olivia Culpo Fashion and beauty influencer, former Miss USA, and ambassador for the “Buy A Lady A Drink” campaign with Stella Artois and Water.org
My ideal time to wake up is between 8 and 9 a.m.—early enough to squeeze in a workout, but not too early that the sun’s not even up yet. The first thing I do every single morning is get up and light a candle—I rotate through different scents, but it’s always such a nice way to start the day.
Then I walk over to the window—I can see the Hollywood sign from my bedroom, so I love to see the sun shining across the giant letters. On an ideal morning I’ll try to meditate, but getting in a workout has the same kind of Zen effects on my mood, so I don’t stress it too much if it doesn’t happen.
I’ll go grab something with caffeine. I’m not a huge coffee drinker, but I’ll sometimes have a cup or just make green tea. I also always have a cold glass of orange juice first thing—the citrus really wakes me up. I’ll usually eat half of a Kind bar to tide me over pre-workout, but I don’t like to eat too much before I sweat.
The first thing I do every single morning is get up and light a candle—I rotate through different scents, but it’s always such a nice way to start the day.
Before I work out, I’ll usually just do a quick beauty routine—especially if I’m doing real hair and makeup later in the day. Occasionally I wash my face with my Clarisonic, but I like to keep the natural oils from the night so most often I’ll leave as-is. Pre-workout, I just put on a light serum and use some kind of de-puffing product around my eyes, comb out my eyebrows, throw my hair in a ponytail, and head out to the gym. Also, I’ve been really into the Olly Beauty Vitamins, and have seen such a difference in my hair and skin.
I recently started to go to a personal trainer and that’s really been a game-changer for me—I’ve seen a real difference in my body. That’s just a couple of times a week though, so on the other days I’ll go to SoulCycle, FlyBarre, or Pilates, or I’ll just run on the treadmill or go on a hike.
Post-workout, I’ll have a big breakfast—if I’m picking it up, I’ll go to Kreation or Erewhon. At home, I love to make quinoa with egg whites, sauteed kale, sweet potato, and a little avocado on the side. It’s so good—I could eat it every single day.
On my way home from my workout, I’ll often stop by the Flower Market to pick up some fresh flowers. I love hydrangeas and roses, although I usually change with the seasons—they brighten my day no matter what and always give such a lovely smell to my house.
If you’re a breakfast lover like Culpo, whip up this gut-friendly meal that will completely change your mornings. Or if you want something lighter, try this three-ingredient detoxifying elixir that Connie Britton has every morning.
