Drake Flew Down to Memphis and Took His Cousin to Prom

Drake took time out of his packed schedule to fly down to his father’s hometown in order to take his young cousin and her date out on the town. The occasion was cousin Jalaah’s senior prom, which was documented in a photo from the Canadian superstar.

The 2017 Fairley High School prom might have been the hottest ticket in town this weekend with Drake crashing the party. While cameras were certainly snapping for Drizzy, Jalaah and her date dazzled as well in matching glitter gold outfits. The unnamed young man wore a matching glittery tie with his ensemble, while Jalaah wore a classy backless and sleeveless number as the perfect complement. TMZ reports that Drake paid for the matching outfits, a Rolls Royce to drive them to the prom in style, and an afterparty at Hard Rock for 400 friends. He reportedly did not perform.

This isn’t the first time Drake has shown up to support his cousin, now 17. Last year, she was crowned her school’s homecoming queen and the Toronto native gushed with pride.

In college, Bamberger began to shun the wigs and hats that can be common with this condition — a confidence that clearly led up to her wedding day when she refused to cover her baldness.

Bamberger, 27, got married in Los Angeles last October sporting a beautiful headband and looked absolutely radiant. The Southern California beauty resides in the region with her husband and keeps an active social media presence via her Instagram page. Much in Bamberger’s posts is about embracing the hair loss and showing that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and looks.

While she initially tried to hide her condition, which robbed her of all the hair on her body, Bamberger has become something of a spokeswoman for body positivity and self-confidence against all odds. In a conversation with Inside Edition last week, Bamberger told the outlet, “There was no way I was going to wear a wig at my wedding.”

Bamberger also shared with the outlet that strangers often come up to her believing she’s dealing with cancer, and she patiently explains her condition. She even said that strangers come up and hug her, but she takes it all in stride as part of being a beacon of positivity.

“I really enjoy standing out and feeling different,” added Bamberger.

Beyoncé in a Crown and Everything Else Fabulous From the Wearable Art Gala

Richard Lawson and his wife, Tina Knowles-Lawson, better known as the mother of R&B superstar Beyoncé, hosted the first Wearable Art Gala at the California African American Museum in Los Angeles this weekend. Along with her superstar daughter, the expectant Queen Bey was flanked by her husband, Jay Z. The event was well attended by other stars such as Samuel L. Jackson, EJ Johnson, Kelly Rowland, Magic Johnson, and many more.

The event was formed with the efforts of the Lawsons, who brought in Tina’s expertise in fashion and art. Her husband is an actor and master acting instructor. The couple announced plans for the Wearable Art Gala, a charitable event, shortly after establishing the nonprofit art and performance center, Where Art Can Occur (WACO), in Los Angeles.

The gala featured a dinner reception by Harold & Belle’s Restaurant, along with dancing and musical performances. The $500 donation to WACO to attend the affair was part of a fundraising effort for the Lawsons’ community programs, Tina’s Angels and Richard’s Warriors.

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Solange Knowles, Bianca Lawson, and Kelly Rowland all served as the gala’s honorary chairpersons. Live and silent auctions of the wearable art designs and other memorabilia, including a microphone autographed by Beyoncé, took place as stars showed off their best on the red carpet. Sponsors of the event included longtime Jay Z partner Live Nation, Lyft, Shea Moisture, Lorraine Schwartz, and more.

Teen's Powerful Prom Dress Is a Tribute to Black Lives Matter

Milan Bolden-Morris was already a well-known basketball star at her West Palm Beach, Fla., high school, and will be taking her talents to Boston College later this year. But the 17-year-old became an Internet celebrity recently after she went viral for wearing a lavish prom dress that honored the Black Lives Matter movement.

Morris, a senior player for the Cardinal Newman High School varsity squad, wore a black backless gown with lace sleeves and a large photo of Trayvon Martin, the 17-year-old who was shot to death in 2012, on the dress’s skirt. The flowing piece also featured black-and-white photos of Sandra Bland and other individuals who were killed during police interactions on the dress’s train.

Bolden-Morris shared images with her date on Instagram Friday, where it was immediately met with likes (more than 14,000 of them) and praise. “Beautiful concept and great all around message,” one commenter wrote. “This is amazing. So much emotion and power worn by a goddess,” Mariesha Desiray wrote. Another added, “Absolutely poignant, timely and … oh yes … Beautiful.”

However, while many are commending Bolden-Morris, she hardly takes any credit. “Honestly just the model for the dress. It was all my designer’s idea, Terrence Torrence, to convey this message and he asked if I wanted to help and of course I did,” she tells Yahoo Style. “The sole purpose was to convey his message, it was never about me or how I look in it, just the message.”

And although Bolden-Morris has received mostly positive feedback, she has still endured criticism for her statement. Still, she says, she doesn’t hold any ill will toward those who don’t approve of her fashion choice. “Many people have their opinions on the motives behind the dress, but all I can do is pray for them and know that our intentions were well,” she says. 

She also adds that while the dress clearly depicts the images of fallen African-Americans, “all lives matter” and that the loss of life is especially tragic when it’s unnecessary.

The high school student, who accepted a full ride scholarship to play hoops for the Division 1 squad, hopes to continue being an inspiration to others. “I hope to inspire others and help others to be courageous and strong in the things that they believe in,” she says. Bolden-Morris credits her strong faith in God as the reason she’s been empowered and blessed to achieve over the years.

Torrence, who works between West Palm Beach and Atlanta, told Essence that it took him four days to design the outfit and was pleased with the outcome. “It was powerful,” he said of his work. “It was art. It was surreal. It spoke volumes.”

Kourtney Kardashian Catching Heat for Mocking Mental Illness While Wearing Fur

The Kardashian clan thrives on media attention, having mastered the ability to cause a firestorm of discussion for the simplest of actions. However, Kourtney Kardashian may want to steal some time away from the limelight after an Instagram message she posted seemed to mock those who suffer from mental illness.

Kardashian, 38, posted an image of herself dressed down in a white T-shirt, black sweats, sneakers, with a light brown fur draped over her shoulder as she hoisted a bag. The photo was captioned meme-style, “Me After A Mental Breakdown” without context — and the reality television star is catching criticism for the photo.

“Please @kourtneykardash stop wearing fur. Your coat cost many lives. It’s gross,” wrote one of Kardashian’s 56.3 million followers. Another added, “Kourtney you should be ashamed ,you don’t eat meat but you wear fur??? seriously ???”

Some people noted that the fur might be a fake, but that didn’t deter others for throwing jabs Kardashian’s way.

“MAKING FUN OF MENTAL ILLNESS ISNT FUNNY,” said an angry user, while another said, “Yes you are a mental case.”

However, many defended Kardashian’s outfit choice and praised the casual look. Kardashian has yet to respond to any of the comments — more than 9,600 and counting. She has posted a few updates since this particular shot, including one that said simply, “Siked for Saturday!”

Michelle Rodriguez Dazzles in Shimmery Silver Gown at ‘The Fate of the Furious’ Premiere

Michelle Rodriguez, one of the stars of the new action thriller The Fate of the Furious, attended this weekend’s premiere at the Radio City Music Hall in New York on April 8. The actress was stunning in a shimmering hip-hugging silver gown and matching heels.

Rodriguez completed the look with a simple pair of diamond earrings, a black clutch adorned with designs, and a silver ring to accent the entire ensemble. The front of the dress featured a plunging cleavage-baring neckline, which the 38-year-old Texas native pulled off effortlessly.

For the eighth installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise, Rodriguez reprises her role as the tough Letty Ortiz Toretto.

In a recent interview with the Today Show, Rodriguez remarked on the filming process and the training she underwent to assume the role of the popular character. With filming happening in Cuba, Rodriguez shared how the experience gave her a new view of the island nation. “It was nuts because Cuba got so much attention after Obama implemented some leisure … loosened up some laws and stuff to allow back-and-forth entry,” Rodriguez said.

She added, “The culture there is so amazing; when people aren’t obsessed with technology, you start to see a little bit more of human interaction. You see guys hugging and kissing the old ladies in the street, tons of activity in the coffee shops, people dancing, everywhere you go people socializing and looking each other in the eye when they talk.”

Rodriguez really makes Cuba sound appealing, doesn’t she?

The Fate of the Furious debuts nationwide on April 14.

Reginae’s shimmery ensemble looks to be inspired by Kuwaiti designer Yousef Al-Jasmi, who has designed similar dazzling and bejeweled gowns for the likes of Kylie Jenner, Ariel Winter, and Demi Lovato in recent times. While the designer has not been linked to Reginae’s daring yet elegant dress, the similarities are definitely easy to note.

High fashion is nothing new for Reginae, and as the daughter of the rapper born Wayne Carter and mom Toya Wright, she’s used to being in the limelight and looking fabulous to boot. On Ms. Carter’s Instagram over the weekend, images of her at the prom along with the requisite selfies were the order of the day. Many of Reginae’s 2.2 million followers gushed over the dress, and rightfully so, as the budding entertainer was undeniably stunning.

“So gorgeous and ladylike! Well done,” chimed in one fan. Another added, “Growing up to be a gorgeous classy young woman @toyawright great job. Sending love all the way from Carolina keep shining love.”

Just ahead of showing off her dress, Reginae posted a racy photo of Beyoncé in a sheer, bejeweled dress that we’re sure Mom and Dad might not have approved of. While there was a little bit of sex appeal in the dress Reginae chose, the look still remained classy.

Simply captioned “#saturdayvibes,” the photo shows Lopez and Rodriguez cuddled up on the couch taking in a weekend baseball game in white sneakers. Fan comments poured in by the hundreds of thousands, with some clamoring for selfies and more.

“Post a selfie with yall and hash tag #finewine,” wrote one fan while another added, “Jlo chillin with A-rod. Cutest couple ever !!!”

A-Rod’s gleaming white Nike Air Force Ones were on display with his lady wearing a pair of all-white sneaker as well. The adoration for the cute photo extended far beyond the pair’s feet, as fans hoped out loud that this relationship would stand the test of time.

This isn’t the first time J-Rod — or is that A-Lo? — have done the matchy matchy thing. Back in March while out in New York, the couple wore matching beige outfits and earlier this month in the city, the duo turned to all-black numbers with A-Rod going for a more casual look than his lady with dark jeans and a black topcoat in contrast with J.Lo’s black dress and heels.

What It Feels Like to Shop for Size 20 While Living Abroad

The sinking reality in women’s fashion is that there are clothing designers that do not provide their wares in sizes beyond a certain range, making shopping a daunting task for some. An expat living in the United Kingdom shared her own struggles with shopping while living abroad and provides tips for other women looking for larger-size items.

Jonatha Kottler penned a revealing piece for the Guardian in which she shared details of her journey in fashion for larger sizes. In 2012, Kottler, her husband, and their 16-year-old son uprooted themselves from Albuquerque and moved to Amsterdam. Kottler was self-aware enough to know that at U.S. size 20 (U.K. size 24), she might find it difficult to shop for comfortable and cute clothes. Kottler discovered in Holland that so-called plus-size fashion is an afterthought in the country, and she even endured ridicule over her weight from some salespeople.

Kottler’s family then moved to Scotland, but they had to return to the U.S. to find suitable clothing to bring to the family’s new home. While Kottler admitted that Scotland was more conducive to a healthier lifestyle, due to the family not owning a car and walking a lot, there was still the pesky need to shop in her size.

Joining a pair of writer friends, Kottler took to the streets of Scotland for an elusive pair of larger-sized jeans. While the jaunt was not hugely successful, Kottler discovered that some clothes in her size could be found, depending on the item, and that shopping online was a better option.

Kottler was candid about her weight loss and gain, and noted that living in Scotland has allowed the family to get their daily 10,000 steps in. Still, Kottler maintained that however difficult the task in finding clothes in larger sizes might be, there is still hope with patience, diligence, and a healthy dose of confidence.

Not much is known about the shirt or why Harris, 41, chose to place her 20-year-old daughter’s booking photo on the outfit. The pink shirt was tied in a bow in the front, showing off mom’s midriff, and was paired with grey pants. Harris was shopping at the Pure store at Atlanta’s Lenox Square Mall and showed off a pair of bags, with little else in the way of commentary.

Pullins narrowly escaped a stronger sentence because Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson international airport had just changed an airport gun-carry law. Instead of a year in prison and a $10,000 fine, Pullins was given a lighter sentence of attending a gun training class, a $500 fine, and 60 hours of community service last September.

The reactions on Tiny’s Instagram post were varied. Most of her followers liked the look, and one even inquired on how to buy one of the shirts. One fan quipped, “Love your shirt! Eff a mugshot bisssh. She looked hot anyway.”

A slightly more critical fan stated, “Is that her daughter mugshot? Wow … my mother would never … oh well! Live ya life Hun.”

Harris and rapper T.I. — born Clifford Harris — have seven children between them. Zonnique is the child of Harris’s previous relationship with Zonnie Pullins. Harris and T.I. have three children together, two sons and a daughter. The couple’s once-strong relationship has been on the rocks amid cheating rumors involving T.I. and model Bernice Burgos. Burgos has come forth and said that she and T.I. are nothing more than friends after Tiny referred to the model as a “pass around b***h.”

Teenager’s ‘Cheesy’ Promposal Will Definitely Melt Your Heart

Shaedon Wedel and his supersweet “promposal” to his best friend’s sister has become a viral sensation on social media, thanks to his inventive use of her favorite snack.

The high school senior’s invitation to his prom date, Carlie, has been all the rage, and it’s not as cheesy as you might immediately think.

Wedel, a senior at Newton High School in Newtown, Kan., hatched the plan so that he and his best buddy, Carson, could take Carlie, a freshman at the school, to the prom at the start of the school year. After Carson started a relationship, Wedel said plans changed, and instead, he made himself available as Carlie’s date.

“My best friend Carson and I were planning to take Carlie (seen in the photo) to prom together at the beginning of this school year,” said Wedel in an email to Yahoo Style. “As [Carson] met his girlfriend throughout the year, we decided that I would just be the one to take Carlie.”

As for the Doritos angle, Wedel explained that Carlie “loves them with all her heart,” and that he decided to use that as inspiration for the T-shirt. “At this point, I sat down and looked at a few T-shirt-making websites and I designed the T-shirt myself, I put the pictures, chose the color and wrote the saying as well,” wrote Wedel.

“I know I’m NACHO your typical Doritos but…” said the front of the shirt adorned with the snack’s logo. On the back, it read, “I’m going to be CHEESY and ask: WILL YOU GO TO PROM WITH ME?”

Carlie, who has Down syndrome, had her dad, Rex, help with reading the message. Wedel said that she happily accepted the promposal and replied (as she put it), “I want a pink dress [and] look like Cinderella!” 

Wedel said that Carlie’s mom, Angie, is going to find the perfect pink dress for her, and Wedel said he’ll shop for his accompanying tuxedo suit. His maturity and humility in light of the response to the photo is particularly striking.

“It did not even cross my mind to think that the whole world would see this tweet and the video on Facebook,” Wedel said. “I have been receiving direct messages on Twitter for the past couple of days, receiving almost nothing but positive comments.”

Since it’s the Internet, there will always be naysayers. “Of course, there are the remarks saying I did this for the attention,” says Wedel. “That did not cross my mind previous to posting or even asking her to prom. I believe the attention will spread the awareness that people with disabilities deserve and need that same attention that others get. I am thankful for all the positivity that has come out of this.”

And we’re thankful that kids out there with big hearts, like Shaedon, exist.

Guys Are Wearing Women’s Head Wraps — in Revenge for Stolen Hoodies?

One of the unspoken challenges in relationships that men typically face is giving up one of their comfortable pieces of clothing to a significant other. Let’s not forget, things like boyfriend jeans are real categories in women’s fashion. A humorous movement on Twitter has arisen, with men striking back over the theft of their hoodies by taking their lady friends’ head wraps and posting photos of themselves in their new haul.

Twitter user @Mute_McNeil apparently kicked off the movement with a tweet on Saturday featuring a photo of himself adorned in a head wrap. “Fellas I’m doing this for every hoodie ive ever lost to a female, we gotta start taking they s–t in 2017,” he wrote. This was retweeted 8,000 times, receiving over 10,000 likes and growing. Other men followed suit, posting photos of themselves in head wraps in solidarity. It appears that @Mute_McNeil’s head-wrapping skills even impressed some women.

Of course, some men are refusing to join the fight, but for the most part, the guys who have participated are clearly having fun, not truly looking to start a brand-new movement. Perhaps this war of wills can be summed up best in one tweet.

Footage From the ’90s Surfaces of Young Kate and Pippa Middleton as Bridesmaids

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, known to many as Kate Middleton, has been wed to Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, since 2011. Yet before she even said ‘I do,’ the royal had plenty of practice walking down the aisle. Video has surfaced of the duchess and her younger sister, Pippa, as bridesmaids for her uncle Gary Goldsmith’s 1991 wedding, with the elder sister already perfecting a royal wave.

The video footage, acquired by SWNS and published Sunday morning, shows the Middleton girls in matching pink bridesmaids dresses, each with a crown of flowers in their hair. While Kate, who was just 9 in the clip, seemed to be into the festivities, Pippa, then 7, appeared to be a little less enthused. Pippa looked to be uncomfortable at points and moved her floral headdress around several times.

James, the younger brother of the two sisters, was also in tow and looking quite dapper in a tux and top coat combo that matched those of the men of the bridal party.

The wedding took place at St. Peter’s Church in Burnham, Buckinghamshire. Goldsmith, who has been married several times since, married his first wife Miranda Foote that year. The union lasted just 18 months. 

Goldsmith is now with his fourth wife, Julie-Ann, this after he took on a bad-boy image and became something of a black sheep for the Middleton clan. His older sister is Carole Middleton, who’s married to Michael Middleton. The pair amassed a huge fortune in the 1990s with their party supply company Party Pieces.

Did Karen Pence and Her Blue Dress Steal the Show at the Inauguration Ball?

All eyes were on the presidential procession during President Trump’s inauguration, and that includes getting a first look at some of the fashion choices of the new first family. However, it was Vice President Mike Pence’s wife, Karen, who according to some observers stole the show in a dazzling blue number at the evening inaugural ball.

Naturally, President Trump and first lady Melania Trump took to the dance floor first at the three inaugural balls: the Freedom Ball, the Liberty Ball, and the Salute Our Armed Services Ball. The Trumps kept things classy and simple, with the president in a black tux and the first lady in a white, flowing off-the shoulder number. But Karen Pence wore a blue, floor-length, off-the-shoulder gown that was a bold contrast to her husband’s black tux.

While some observers saw Karen Pence’s dress as a bold statement, others said they wished she had opted for a softer color choice. Indeed, the dress, which was designed by dressmakers in her home state of Indiana, stood out among a relatively drab sea of neutral tones.

Sarah Knochel, who owns Something Wonderful, a dressmaking business in Indianapolis, worked with Joyce Hittesdorf, Donna Christian, Cathy Runion, Whitney Luckenbill, and Ellen Blacketer to craft gowns for Karen Pence, her two daughters, and her daughter-in-law.

Salma Hayek Turns Heads in Form-Fitting Floral Dress

Salma Hayek stunned this weekend at Balenciaga’s Paris Fashion Week show, presenting her curves in a flattering floral-print dress complete with some dazzling fuchsia heels. The 50-year-old Academy Award-nominated actress was front row at an event with her billionaire husband, François-Henri Pinault.

The origin of Hayek’s dress is as yet unknown, but the ensemble hugged the curves of the ageless beauty as reported by the Daily Mail. From the fitted neck at the top down to the flaring out of the skirt just past the knees, Hayek also kept her makeup simple, but wore a bold red lip that made the floral patterns pop even more. In some shots, Hayek sported some trendy shades, but removed them for photo opportunities as the event rolled on.

Hayek took to her Instagram page to show off the outfit, with an initial shot of her heels, captioned, “With all the rain Paris, I’m happy my shoes didn’t get wet when I got to the Balenciaga fashion show.”

With all her formidable gifts, it seems that Hayek has yet to master all the tricks of social media wizardry.

Hayek made headlines last week as well when she revealed to Entertainment Tonight that she knew about the the Best Picture Oscar Awards mix-up before it happened.

“I actually heard the stage manager standing in front of me, saying, ���No, no, no! That is not the movie,'” she said, after Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway announced La La Land as the winner of the Best Picture award. Moonlight finally captured the proper honor.

“I actually saw it before everyone else, and it was kind of freaky but exciting, and I am just glad at least two movies got to get up onstage and be celebrating,” Hayek said.

So-Called 'King of Instagram' Catches Heat for Messing With Endangered Species

The so-called “King of Instagram” Dan Bilzerian, a professional poker player, apparent playboy, and lover of guns and women in bikinis, is the focus of controversy after a photo featuring a scantily-clad model straddling an endangered tortoise appeared on his Instagram page. The photo has sparked anger among Bilzerian’s 21 million followers who shared their thoughts on the page.

Bilzerian, the son of wealthy Armenian-American corporate takeover specialist Paul Bilzerian, has became infamous for his high-flying lifestyle and images he shares via Instagram. This latest photo depicts a woman riding on the back of a 100-year-old Galapagos Tortoise. The bizarre photo was taken while Bilzerian was visiting Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands.

“Ignorant and disappointing. Is it that difficult to simply respect nature,” read one user’s comments, echoing several similar comments among the thousands of others that were posted.

“Such a nice animal that managed to live 100 years that you had to sit on it. Classy stuff,” read another. Some of Bilzerian’s followers also praised the photo and pushed back against much of the negative comments by saying the turtle didn’t appear to be in any imminent danger.

In another photo presumably from the same trip, Bilzerian is seen with two lemurs on his shoulders captioned: “Shoutout to @richardbranson for being rich enough to buy a private island and make it an endangered animal sanctuary.”

The photo garnered this among a sea of negative comments.

“Dude bro you make being a trust fund baby with rich parents look so sick and really not that hard. Most of my friends that got everything handed to them died from OD’s so congrats on breaking the norm bro,” wrote the follower.

Bilzerian has yet to respond to the chatter surrounding the photos, nor is it readily known if animals on the island are allowed to be approached and touched by anyone other than staff.
