After an earthquake hit Chinatown in the season two finale, season three opens with Nicky (Olivia Liang), her family, and her community attempting to rebuild in more ways than one. Nicky, still reeling from her abrupt breakup with her boyfriend Henry (Eddie Liu), and the shocking death of her nemesis-turned-ally Zhilan (Yvonne Chapman), puts on a brave face as she juggles a new job teaching kung fu while fighting a growing crimewave in San Francisco. Mei-Li (Kheng Hua Tan) struggles to keep Harmony Dumplings afloat, while rebuilding the restaurant; and Jin (Tzi Ma) helps the rest of the community get back on its feet. Althea (Shannon Dang) has lost her company and finds herself jobless, living in the cramped Shen house, while Dennis (Tony Chung) works a variety of service gigs to help make ends meet. Ryan (Jon Prasida) adjusts to cohabitating with boyfriend Sebastian (JB Tadena), while working fulltime as an ER resident; and Evan (Gavin Stenhouse) embarks on a new legal venture. But just as Nicky and the Shens are finding their footing, Nicky is thrown on her heels by the introduction of a mysterious vigilante, Bo (guest star Ben Levin) — and the shattering return of a woman who appears to be her deceased shifu, Pei-Ling (Vanessa Kai). Ok i wanted to try this and i wasnt sure if i was going to go on with this but guys... i had so much fun. For the first time... the action in a CW show doesnt look like shit XD.

I think i will keep watching and possibly reacting to it.

It was a sunny day, and Zhilan was out looking for alchemists to pester about their techniques or interesting Amestrians to question. She wanted to know all there was about this country and alchemy, but didn't quite know where to start. Walking purposefully down the street, Zhilan hummed to herself, her bodyguard followed close behind.

She turned a corner and froze, staring eye to eye with Layla.

"Oh, pardon me," She said, although she refused to step aside. She just stood there, waiting for the other to make the first move, an air of entitelment wafting off of her. "...Your eyes are very interesting."

Suddenly, she smiles and tilts her head, her entire demeaner seeming to change in an instant. "Mind if I ask you some questions, I haven't been in Amestris long and am very curious about the culture!"

Ludi Lin Joins The CW’s ‘Kung Fu’ Reboot

Ludi Lin is set to join The CW’s forthcoming reboot of the classic series Kung Fu.

Christina M. Kim and Robert Berens serve as executive producers and co-showrunners of the new iteration of Kung Fu which follows Nicky (Olivia Liang) who is in a middle of a quarter-life crisis. This causes her to drop out of college and go on a life-changing journey to an isolated monastery in China. He puts on a suave playboy act to the world but is driven by a deep hurt and antipathy towards his father. An erotically charged partnership with Zhilan will provide Kerwin with just the path to revenge (and vindication) he has been waiting for.

following the readmore is a lot of mentions of Yan Bingyun’s capture/torture/etc, mentions of domestic abuse, and mentions of rape, non-con prostitution and other violence against women

Shen-xiaojie

Shen-xiaojie gets nervous when men shout

Look, you cannot convince me that shen zhong wasn’t abusive to his sister, no matter how accidentally

Look, I get that Shen Zhong was a little upset about his sister falling in love with an enemy spy. I’d be upset too. But he barrels over her, doesn’t give her a chance to speak, shouts at her while she's obviously crying, is an all around dick to her, and you can tell me that’s a one time thing, but it obviously isn’t.

It isn’t.

like, he loved her, and he tried to do right by her, but he’s a little screwy, and he was abusive. he was a bad parental figure.

(granted, I’m coming at this from a western perspective, but it still seems particularly abusive compared to other parental relationships i’ve seen in this show and other cdramas)

Yan Bingyun

Yby gets panic attacks; has gotten them since he was young. They’re not usually major, but the guy Yan Ruohai handed him off  to be raised by really didn’t like them

He also disassociates pretty quickly, especially when faced with chains and/or torture. 

Yby did not disassociate like this before Shen Zhong.

Yby doesn’t like having anything around his wrists. And he doesn’t like wearing white robes any more

He wears a lot of darker coloured robes now; he’s rather fond of purple and black

And the sleeves aren’t the tight sleeves that we see him wear in the show they’re much looser, like Fan Xian’s purple BeiQi robes

We only ever see him in borrowed robes afters his rescue

Teng-furen, Wen Yinhong

alright, she’s technically not an OC, but we’re never given her name (in the show), and she’s there for maybe three episodes? maybe less? I’m building her mostly from scratch

she’s a good baker (or ancient future-fantasy chinese equivalent)

she’s (canonically) a helicopter parent; Teng Zijing’s son just kinda runs around the capital willy-nilly, and they live outside of town!

she just lets her son wander all the way to the capital and back and doesn’t say anything

she’s a decent field medic when she needs to be; she can bandage a wound and make some basic medicines

anything past that is out of her abilities

she’s surprisingly snarky when she’s not mourning her dead husband

Ni’er

Ruoruo's right hand woman in the lower rings and one of Shen-xiaojie’s good friends in 

helps with recruitment to the spy ring and spying in brothels. 

her family name is Xie, but she left it behind after her father sold her sister to a brothel and beat her brother. 

(her mum is dead.) 

(also, there’s no relation to Xie Bi’an, of the Second Prince Bodyguard fame)

she ran away a day after her brother did, and all the ladies know she's looking for her older siblings.
