Ndiredi – Simphwe Dana
Zandisile – Simphwe Dana Simphwe Dana shares a birthplace with Bill Drummond, one of the driving forces behind the band The KLF as both hail from Butterworth (also known as Gcuwa) in the Eastern Cape. However, the connection ends there as Drummond went on to produce some of the great dance songs of the 90’s with hits like ‘Justified And Ancient’ and ‘What Time Is Love’. Simphwe, meanwhile…

LOVE LOVE SIMPHIWE DANA - Catch her live show 3 November 2017
I love Simphiwe Dana and the world loves Simphiwe Dana. I recall her debut album that got me hooked in 2004, Zandisilie. She sings with a fierce determination and sheer grit as she embeds herself into our hearts through song and socio-economic awareness. She is a voice for the voiceless and shakes political landscapes, whilst the natural God-given talent of her voice and song-writing seem to come as a natural conduit to compliment her personal and more heartfelt passions.
Did you know that Simphiwe was named ‘African Woman Of The Year’ in 2016 by New African Woman alongside the likes of artist gogo Esther Mahlangu and actress Lupito Nyong’o. She strives to create conversations that will spark change and is seen as one of the leading and most impactful women in African arts and culture. In fact so profound is Simphiwe Dana’s influence that her music has been incorporated into the curriculum at Oxford University, no small feat for even the most established of musician considering that to date Simphiwe has only released 4 studio albums and 2 Live DVD’s.
I love the live recording of “The Simphiwe Dana Symphony Experience” – a must listen. So you can imagine my excitement that this hurricane of success, enlightenment, upliftment and soul-stirring entertainment will be playing live at the Lyric Theatre courtesy of Kaya FM and Bassline Live. This is one show that I will not miss – Book your ticket at Computicket -see you there!

THE INTERN BY DAVID TLALE - BRIDEZILLA
Wedding bells rang last night on The Intern by David Tlale Season 1 on SABC 3.
Episode 7 was set to be the most exciting episode thus far. The contestants were taken to a Cathedral in the CBD of Johannesburg to be briefed on their new challenge.
As the contestants walked in next to David was thee couture designer Gert Van Der Merwe. Gert focuses on designer bridal and evening wear. He is a respected winner of the Catherine Award and the J&B Rare Designer Award. In 1999, Gert was the only South African designer ever to be invited to the Seoul Fashion Week in Korea.
David handed the brief to the contestants. To the shock of their lives; they had to design a wedding dress for a “bridezilla”. As if the surprise was not enough, David called out the “bridezillas” and it turned out to be female celebrities.
David told the contestants to find their brides and start working. Samuel Mosala (Durban) quickly ran to Simphiwe Dana who is a well-known musician that released the hit album called Zandisile in 2004. Cyla Gonsolves (Western Cape) immediately connected with radio personality and business woman Azania Mosaka. Metro FM DJ Ismael Abrahams’ wife Candice Abraham who was crowned Mrs South Africa in 2016 was assigned to the spicy Keletso Moraba (Limpopo). Kuena Moshoeshoe (Lesotho) was fortunate to be paired up with the hilarious Michaella Russell, whom we all know as Charlie from Isidingo on SABC 3. Then came Boitumelo Selepe, she got Catherine Grenfell who is known for her amazing tattoos and her outstanding work on The Eye radio station. Entrepreneur and wife to the late Vuyo Mbuli, Savita Mbuli was also part of the bevy and was excited to be working with Welhemina Ratsoma (Limpopo). And as we all know David Tlale always brings his A game, he made sure that Michalene De La Porte (Vanderbijlpark) was paired up with the amazing Khanyi Mbau who is currently the TV host for The Scoop on SABC 3.
As the contestants were given 3 days to complete the dresses, pressure was on and they were not designing for your normal brides but they were designing for the divas and dames. All manner of drama was to be expected from brides not arriving for fittings, indecision and all out disagreements. The elimination was getting close and the designers were feeling the pressure.
In the end Keletso Moraba ended up winning the challenge and Michalene De La Porte fell off the seams.
Be sure to catch all the drama on The Intern by David Tlale every Wednesday at 19:30 only on SABC 3, “The Stage Is Yours”

Simphiwe Dana- The Preacher’s Daughter and her Undying Love for Jazz.
Simphiwe Dana- The Preacher’s Daughter and her Undying Love for Jazz.
Source: Wikipedia.org
Simphiwe Dana was born in 1980 in Gcuwa, Transkei, in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Her father was a preacher and her mother, a passionate singer. Her upbringing to a great extent explains her deep love for gospel music. As a pastor’s daughter you can imagine that all she was exposed to was church, choir, music and more church.
But those could not have been the only forces…

Beginners Guide to Why Xhosa’s Pretty Much Won the 2010’s Music in South Africa.
Beginners Guide to Why Xhosa’s Pretty Much Won the 2010’s Music in South Africa.
Like, bruh, I still remember when I met Simphiwe Dana at a young age. I didn’t get the difference between Zulu’s and Xhosa’s back then, but I do believe the music already was differentiated by how it made me feel. Zandisilestill has me in my feels. I still wouldn’t be able to tell you what it’s about exactly, but I will play it for my kids and I do believe it will transcend time and space, and…
