( mod note, don't forget to pin your intro LOL ) Eyefestation was currently swimming lazily through the water, though from the inside, it had looked like it was speeding past due to how it's unusual body glided through the water, passing by window to window, far into the facility depths until... until it had paused, turning around to swim up against a particularly large window, looking inside... was it seeing things, or did it see someone move inside of there..?

Z-909 shifted around the many drawers of the facility, feeling around more for the items than identifying them by her failing sight. A couple USB sticks, possibly a folder of sorts to the side....

She could pick up a feint green glow, and the black spines on her arms and back began to vibrate and twitch in response to something close by. The facility was busy today, it seemed, but at least this entity she was aware-enough about. Should she hide? A part of her wanted to take the risk, if not for any other reason than advancing her research and gloat over having information Urbanshade would never have.

So, she stands still and waits..

It genuinely is such a shame which is why we're doin the rewrite! I can't wait for everyone to see what we're cookin up! It's so much better workin without the restrictions of the game's broken and nonsensical lore, we even got a whole endgame plot with the Crystal courtesy of z-909! We've renamed our rewrite to Infra Abyss as well!

The urge to submerge herself in water has been getting stronger lately, much to Z-909's chagrin. At least swimming was easier now, what with her tail and webbed hands. After she had had enough of hydrating herself, she pushed herself out of the water and climbed over the ledge and into a very dark room.

But then her spines began to tingle as she sensed someone nearby, and she startled upon hearing the door open. She looked to the source, though was momentarily blinded when a flashlight fell on her.

There, in the darkness, in Cedar's line of sight, was a creature.

"Turn that thing off, won't you?"

“….My what? If you’re talking about the cat with the top hat, that’s not mine.”

… Was my friend? Ugh.

She clutched her head softly and sits back, holding herself.

“Obviously, I knew. And that’s why I did it. He was my best friend up on the surface. I had to make a point that I still cared in a way that he would actually listen to.”

She turns her head in the direction of your voice.

“Oh yeah, everything’s fine.”

Sarcasm dripped from her lips.

"New 'security' detail! Don't you worry your stupid little head; I'm not here for you."

Even if his words would indicate Z-479 being no danger to her, the tone he says it in makes it sound very much like a threat.

"How have you been? I was under the impression I'd not have the chance to even see your annoying face again...."

The face of a woman who refused him the decency of even looking him in the eye and yet now she's a pathetic Z-class scrounging the Blacksite to sate her desire for knowledge.

"How sad I can't lift a single finger to help you."

When his tone registered to her, it felt like an ice-cold dagger had went through her chest. Her fins fell flat again, though drooped more than usual. He was talking down to her.

She swallowed the hurt and tried to talk to him like she used to. Like it could be old times. Like nothing could have changed.

"Clearly, I've never been better, big guy. What could possibly have gone wrong since the last time we saw each other?"

But she had the feeling everything's changed.

"A-are you hungry? I have some spare food. Funny now we can... maybe get some lunch, together. Urbanshade was um. We were always busy...."

She wanted to tease him, chat with him, be around him like she used to. Back when she worked in the labs. Back when she still had a life worth having.... But she couldn't shake the feeling now that he had been a part of that life, and now that she doesn't have that, maybe she couldn't have him either.

As 909 reaches out for a folder a gloved hand presses against her back gently, green hair appearing in the side of her vision with a smirk plastered on his face.

"Look at you down here! Ever the curious mind, aren't you, Dr. Carrie?"

Z-479's sharp teeth sparkle in the sites light, the metal plate over his eyes hiding any expression beyond the smile.

Her heart pounded in her chest and her fins flared in surprise. The whole world slowed down around her. Who? Who could know her name? Did anyone find her tapes? Her journals? Her spines twitched and danced more than they have before, pulling her muscles and her nerves and forcing her to clench her jaw in pain. They were trying very hard to paint a picture, but whatever was causing this was making it too bright. It was almost too overwhelming to keep her eyes open and see--

See that green hair, those sharp teeth, that metal plate.

Z-909 soon felt an emptying relief flood through her, making her limbs feel like jell-o after that sudden scare. That touch to her back... he was just scaring her, right?

She breathed a sigh, her head shaking lightly in disbelief. There was a nervous smile on her face as she still recovered.

"Zeef? I didn't think I'd see you again. Oh. Oh I'm... glad to see you actually. What are you doing here?"

A transparent plastic container comes out of the bag, filled to the brim with shrimp that has red-orange sauce. Buttery, garlic, spice. Yum.

"I also have some rice and snacks. Do you want water? I have that too." She plops down on the floor with a soft relieved sigh, already grabbing a water bottle from her bag.

Her other hand comes to cover her mouth as it opens wide for a yawn.

".. sorry," She immediately muttered, the word an automatic response with how fluid it exited her lips.

Z-909's mouth began to water at the mere sight and promise of such delicacies. She bashfully covers her mouth in the case she was being rude.

"There's nothing to apologize for. Actually, I think I should be the one apologizing to you. I don't have anything to give back to you for your kindness."

Noticing how tired she seemed, Z-909 glanced around her with concern weighing on her brow. These expendables probably don't get much of a break down here.

"Here, my 'office' is nearby. I can clear some tables and upright some chairs and we can enjoy this there. It would probably be more comfortable than the floor. You seem like you need a break."

She began gathering up the papers she had scattered.

"Another researcher? I... Urbanshade knowingly had researchers down here when they deployed the-- Okay. They really don't care who gets wasted down here, do they?

"I would like to meet them. I'm in a different field of study but if they're researching the specimens down here then perhaps I can be of use still after all."

She seems uneasy at the last piece of information.

"Seb...? As in Sebastian? Z-13? ...So he's alive. But why is he still here.. and running a shop of all things? Strange. Well, now it seems I have two reasons to seek him out. Do you know where his shop is? I'd like to meet the both of them."
