Fell into a rabbit hole of rewatching Age of Calamity cutscenes (since I don't have the game) and
this game is so needlessly dramatic
"it whaaaat" - Revali
Robbie is an icon and there needs to be more of him
the DLC memory scenes are the best cutscenes in the game
Terrako singing ballad of the goddess 😭😭😭
Baby Zelda is so cute
Terrako is OP
I love how the entire game starts all dramatic and then there's just E G G
Also the opening credits of the game imply that the tapestry is about the Calamity where BOTW Link failed??? Either that or Terrako existed at the same time as the OG Calamity which works for me!
Terrako is the main character prove me wrong
Baby Sidon is too pure for this world
I like how Zelda narrates the game. You could almost see it like she's narrating it to her kids or something and I think that's really cute
Sidon's adult voice actor is so over-the-top lolll
I love Daruk so much
"None of this makes any sense" No Daruk it does not
I love Riju's voice actor
I love how Patricia gets her own name tag too
This game varies between incredibly dark to incredibly funny/corny and I love it
Astor my beloved your laugh is terrifying
Khoga is an icon too "you're my best lackey!!!"
Mipha is so tinyyyy
Urbosa is such a mom I love her so much
Hell yeah Vah Ruta flood Hyrule Field!!!
We need more evil magicians in Legend of Zelda. They're all so iconic
Rhoam is actually pretty likeable at the end of the game ngl
Baby Sidon is so so so tinyyyyyy 😭😭😭😭😭
Yunobo's eyes are so funny
Tulin is a sweetheart and not even Revali can escape his cuteness
Khoga's hair is so hard he can't put the thunder helm on oh oy goddd that's hilarious 😂😂😂
Urbosa, Rhoam, and Zelda's mom had to have been a threesome
I didn't need Khoga to be such a dad but here he is... best dad for the best lackey
Astor has followers??? Like he's a cult leader??? *stores that information away for later* Well to be fair they kinda died in the only scene they were in lol
I can tell Robbie's voice actor had a blast doing this
Also this game lowkey reads like a Kingdom Hearts game lol So much random, corny goodness is here and I love it

i’m hyperfixated on LOZ again and i request more botw champion headcanons bc i miss them
Champion Headcanons P. 8
Sorry no TOTK characters, I haven't had time to play it yet ;-;
Link isn't allowed within 10 feet of a caffeinated beverage after what happened last time.
Link accidentally called Daruk dad one time and Daruk almost started crying.
Purrah figured out how to install mobile games on her shekiah slate and plays them during important meetings.
Yunobo crys when people yell at him, and Teba found that out the hard way.
Urbosa doesn't speak to pets in a baby voice. She treats them like an esteemed colleague.
Here are a couple different items from Robbie's bucket list: Invent shrink ray so I can carry Purrah around in my pocket, clone all the champions just to see what happens, lick the malice goop, slowly replace all of Revali's weapons with foam look alikes, etc.
Zelda has sensory issues.
Sidon talks with his hands and has definitely hit someone (probably Teba) in the face because he got too excited.
Mipha has a fear of heights.
Urbosa had a pet snake at some point.
Both Link and Riju will never back down from dare and they have definitely almost died because of their stubbornness.
Revali can't swim.
Sidon's height, build, and the fact that he basically has a mouth full of shark teeth is incredibly intimidating, but he's completely unaware of that.
Link once hosted a DnD campaign for all the champions and all hell broke lose.

Hot Spring Mishap - Yunobo x Reader (Part 2)
A continuation of Part 1, which you can read here or here on AO3. You confront Yunobo after the incident...or at least you try to.

But tomorrow never came. Neither did the next day. Nor the next week after that. At first you felt annoyance, all you wanted was a conversation, but as the days passed you began to feel an overwhelming sadness at the fact that Yunobo was nowhere to be seen. Sure, you caught sight of him here and there - but just as soon as you found the opportunity to approach him, he'd disappeared from your view. Your shop felt lonelier - you were so used to his daily check-ins and lighthearted laughter whenever he popped in that it felt almost felt wrong not to see him at all, let alone on a regular basis. The latest stint being your quick visit to YunoboCo HQ - you were there delivering a few supplies to Dayto at the front. Just behind you came a laugh you'd been missing for a while now: gentle, but with some gusto; a laugh that often made you laugh. You turned your head, your eyes quickly connecting with navy blue hues before, in a blink, you weren't. The Goron entrepeneur took one look at you and immediately turned tail, rolling away at a frightening speed, leaving all eyes watching in confusion. All except yours. You did your best to blink away your blurred vision and keep your lip from trembling. ---- You cursed whatever gods decided today would be the day you'd receive two giant shipments to your shop. The amount of stock that you needed to count, move, and put away was sure to wear you out for the day. In the midst of your finalizing counts, a crate of freshly plucked bomflowers had burst open, spewing a few of them out and down toward the entrance to Goron City. With urgency you scampered toward the fallen items, desperate to catch the ones that were making a beeline for the outskirts of the city. Many of the children tended to play out there, and your heart sunk at the possibility of them getting hurt. You ran like your heels were aflame, scooping up each bombflower as you sped up to each one. Nearly all of your lost stock was recovered save for one last one that careened toward the edge of the rocky path up to the main opening. So focused were you on catching that stray bombflower, you didn't gauge how close to the edge of path you were - your balance wavering when you watched the the bombflower tumble over the edge - and your footing taking you over the edge with it. There was a scream sitting in your throat as you prepared to accidentally dive down the mountainside with an armful of explosives. A swift, strong arm wrapped around your waist, however, pulling you back into a sturdy frame and away from your sudden death. Any breath you were holding ripped through your chest in a gasp, the shock of your close call hitting you now. You could've died. You could have died. "Are you okay, goro?!" You turned in the stranger's hold, the very Goron man who you'd had no luck getting ahold ending being the very one to save your life. His face was screwed up in worry, eyes searching your face as he still held onto you. Heavy hurt bled in your chest, and you shoved yourself out of his grasp, backing away for a few steps before turning on your heel completely and heading towards your shop. The pain in your eyes stung Yunobo, he knew he'd messed up. "W-Wait! Please, hold on!" he called after you, moving to give chase. When you made it into your shop, you hastily set aside the bombflowers in order to find the keys to lock up your front doors. You'd barely made it past your front counter before thick digits wrapped around your smaller wrist, "Please, give me a chance to expla-" "I looked EVERYWHERE for you" you sobbed, whipping completely around to him now, crystalline tears cascading down your cheeks. Your bottom lip wobbled as you continued, "You avoided me for weeks, Yunobo...left me alone and wondering what I did so wrong for you to not even want to look at me..." the palm of your free hand scraped messily at your cheeks, wiping away the wetness there. More tears would flow however as you pathetically whispered, "Over a silly accident..." Guilt hit Yunobo like a weighted mine cart, he'd never seen you cry before. Knowing he was the source of your tears only made him feel worse. His grip on your wrist loosened marginally, only for his opposite hand to pull you in wrap around you. Yunobo hugged your smaller frame, closing his eyes and keeping still as he let you process. The exhale he let out was heavy, and though you couldn’t see his face, you could tell his expression had dropped. “...I’m sorry,” he began, his eyes peeking open to look at nothing in particular, his senses more focused on your reaction to his words and hug, “I was scared you hated me for what happened, goro, thought you’d think I was a creep or somethin’ - I...didn’t know how to deal with losing your friendship.”  You were stunned at his confession. Reverent and apologetic, though gentle all the same. Your shoulders shook as the tears you’d been holding in for weeks finally shed, your cheek sticking to the metal of his chestplate. He gingerly rubbed your back, crushed and feeling foolish for not understanding how his avoidance deeply hurt your feelings sooner. Yet your arms would reach up and crowd around his neck, returning his embrace. The tiniest of smiles graced his rounded face,  “...Forgive me?”  You shook your head, worrying him for a second. That was, until you looked up, slid your hands to his cheeks to hold his face and with a tearful laughed you told him,  “I was never mad at you to begin with, silly.”  Relief swept through Yunobo, his shoulders relaxing instantly. He swore he had a few tears himself he could shed, but at this moment he was just happy. Happy that you were okay. Happy that you weren’t mad at him. Happy that he didn’t royally screw up and break your trust and companionship like he was so terrified he had for weeks now.  So happy in fact, that he swooped right down and kissed you.

A message to each of the Champions, Sages, and to Princess Zelda
Mipha: I would've said yes to your proposal. I remember crying almost every night alone after I regained my memories of you. I loved listening to your voice.
Urbosa: Thank you so much for encouraging me to transition. You saw right through me and knew that I was ignoring my gender identity and problems because all of Hyrule was watching my and Zelda's every step.
Revali: I wish we were friends. I'm sorry that you weren't the chosen hero. I know that's what you wanted to be. I'm unsure as to why and I wish that I could know.
Daruk: Don't be sorry for having died. You are not a failure just because you died fighting Fireblight. We hadn't known that Ganon would do something like that.
Teba: I know technically you aren't a Champion or Sage, but you get the same treatment to me, so: thank you for battling with me and letting me be the cool aunt to your son.
Tulin: You were so energetic and by Hylia, that energy was contagious. You got me so hyped up for everything. Though, if I could, I'd go give your ancestor a piece of my mind by having him answer why he expected a 14 year old to fight in a war that even he couldn't stop.
Yunobo: I'm really glad that I was able to give you courage and confidence. I prayed to Farore every day after securing Vah Rudania that seeing your Grandfather's ghost gave you courage. (Only found out in this life playing AoC's DLC that it was me who gave you courage.)
Sidon: My brother-in-law, I love you. You were so overly kind and I remember just how devastated you were that saving Mipha in AoC's timeline didn't transfer over to our timeline. I know that you kept that a secret from King Dorephan and Muzu. It was a hard secret, but I'm glad you found peace to it.
Riju: You were an excellent chief. I'm glad you kept your great grandmother's promise to allow vai who were born voe into the town, even though throughout the 4 generations there were those who opposed it.
Mineru: I'm sorry that you went dormant for tens of thousands of years just waiting for the day that I'd pick up the Purah Pad. I'm not sure if you were conscious, but if you were, I'm sorry it was so lonely.
Zelda: I am so sorry for everything you went through. Having to sacrifice yourself to Hyrule three times: your childhood, your life, and then your humanity... I'm so sorry. I'm glad I got to be your girlfriend, though. I don't remember much after TotK's end, but I hope we rebuilt Hyrule together.

More on my TotK redo, featuring the Gerudo Sage/Riju!
So since Riju is Sage of Spirit again, her lightning power doesn’t really work. Plus, the other three Sage’s abilities have an out-of-combat use. Tulin obviously is useful for boosting your glide. Sidon can cool you off in desert areas. My sister uses Yunobo to mine. But Riju’s ability doesn’t really see much use outside combat (and frankly I almost never use her in combat outside of the section in Gerudo Town.)
Her ability is now instead to control beings’ “spirit”, allowing her to temporarily possess them a la Spirit Tracks. In the temple her four switches to activate the elevator are accessed by controlling four living statues (shaped like the seven heroines) to hit a switch. The final boss room is surrounded by statues of all seven heroines which must be activated to knock the boss out of the air.
The ability functions like a muddle bud in regular combat, but can also be used to soothe any rideable mounts (horses, sand seals, even deer and bears) and make them easier to catch. Riju’s plot also focuses more on her worry about being an effective leader and fearing that the Gerudo may only follow her because she’s been subconsciously using this ability. It’s shown that the former Sage did have to use the ability to stop Ganon’s sect of the tribe from trying to slay the Gerudo who sided with Rauru in the Imprisoning War, compounding her worries. By the time you and Riju complete the temple, the Gerudo affirm that they believe Riju is a great leader, because she is compassionate and listens to the wisdom of others and always the first into the breach — she has never forced them to do anything.
Overall plot spoilers:
It’s revealed as part of Zelda’s memories that Rauru feared the Sage of Spirit’s power because she COULD possibly cause a rebellion if her loyalty changed. This is why he tried to execute her and led to the whole plot in the other post. He kept her Spiritual Stone hostage after Sonia died and used her powers to control the other Sages.

whats zeldas + link's + the champions' opinions on animals
OK! link and urbosa are huge cat fans. if link saw a cat he would pet it no matter the consequences (unless its someones pet and they state to not pet it). he is a cat man at heart. he also likes dogs but hes more afraid of them due to being Big and also going up to him fast and licking him. urbosa would like dogs more probably, both more than cats and against link. theyre just Neat. zelda isnt really afraid of cats but she just doesnt usually approach them, she likes dogs but honestly she wouldnt really want a pet i think. unless it was like. a fish or a guinea pig. she also would leave dogs alone unless they go up to her. but shes mostly neutral on them Unless its for studying. oh she’d make herself a robot animal honestly. just like as an assistant. i feel like a dog would be too obvious for that? but maybe something like an owl/bird/something she’d have as like. a sixth divine beast almost (though its not for divine/calamity purposes). also she probably wouldnt really enjoy the work that comes from taking care of a cat/dog so. yeag. link may get one but would most likely just visit strays than fully adopt one. plus he cant really look after a pet. urbosa wouldnt have many problems though. mipha and revali arent really the biggest.. fur fans? like i think cat/dog fur would feel weird on miphas scales and on revalis feathers. itd probably be more troublesome for mipha than revali though. so mipha would try to pet a cat but feel sad that she cant because it feels Bad. honestly she could be allergic to them, though i need to think about how sever it would be. revali isnt a fan of most animals, Especially dogs (way too heavy for him + need lots of attention that could be used for Training!!) . revali would probably get like. a low maintenance pet like a fish and then vent all his problems to it and would get So Upset when it dies (which augh yeah fair..). i dont know if mipha would have any pets in general (not even aquatic ones). maybe a plant as a substitute honestly. zelda gifts her frogbit or skunk cabbages (though those smell apparently) and she just takes care of that. daruk .. hm. honestly i dont know if im going to make him scared of dogs/cats/animals? like. hes not scared of birds (some of them frequent the mountain for those berry plants i mentioned in the flower post), lizards hes also not scared of (small and he is Bigger.), the butterflies he likes to look at but once again, no fear. but animals not on the mountain such as deer, boars, dogs, cats and foxes and maybe even herons? hes slightly scared of. also bears. he both respects the concept of a bear and greatly fears the powers of a bear. OH YEAH HORSES. daruk would get used to them eventually. and cows. but its kinda like being afraid of bugs except those animals are less dangerous except for bears. also fun fact with the cups and pottery theres actually stone/sculpted flowers in goron city!!! theres one in yunobos house look
Tumblr media
other animals!! horses. link loves horses and his horse is the best to him, urbosa isnt really familiar with horses but she respects them, and she got her own horse when traveling not the desert. mipha revali and daruk dont really use horses (mipha might though more using carriages, she’d most likely utilize the rivers). revali doesnt really care about them, and mipha likes them. zelda having horse problems + link liking them probably has her try to avoid them mostly. she doesnt hate them but she does dislike whenever theyre around. otherwise though i think she’d be interested in how gentle/wild type horses work maybe. probably intersect the horse logic into something else. cows theyre all decent fans of, mipha especially because she can point at a water buffalo and go ‘hey i have those where i live :D!!!!!’, and link would just miss the cows at hateno village and pet the stable animals. boars.. i think theyd think theyre neat. theyre probably the most hunted animal when they do hunt, but usually they dont have too much of an opinion despite the ganon connotations. though link specifically would see it as an omen. not of bad luck or good luck but of Something. urbosa might too honestly. bears, range from Lets Not Interact with it to HELL YEAH BEAR :D. revali would actually like bears because he’s seen them in hebra and they pose no threat to him. link has almost never seen a bear in his life so hes both mildly afraid and BEAR :D. urbosa has heard of bear tales in the gerudo highlands and of bokoblins riding them (which they can do), but othwrwise she would probably stay away from them because she doesnt want to deal with a bear. mipha would have a sweet spot for bears but also avoid them. shes seen like. 1. and they are Big. daruk has already been mentioned. zelda would think bears are neat especially because of how few of them there are. crows!!! sign of many things (apparently the number of crows can mean something?), usually universally meaning Death. daruk isnt too off put by them especially because theres some near the lost woods, urbosa doesnt know about the connotation to death so to her its just ‘cool bird’, mipha is vaguely aware of it however shes never really experienced it. revali is Suspicious of crows due to him only seeing them circling satori mountain and Only that mountain, zelda does her best to . not avoid them but be aware of the superstitions. she wouldnt like the association with death, and she wouldnt like crows as a result. link would Also not like crows, less of the death superstition and more of how they were in the lost woods. to him its more like a sign of bad luck, if they guard something its best to just leave it be. it makes me wonder how theyd view the crows at satori mountain. also the in game description notes that theyre feathers are seen as a bad omen and they also steal crops. nothing much more except because of the crop thing i feel like link would slightly fear them. give them a crop whenever he sees them. foxes!!! just little guys :D. revali would complain that the foxes in hebra are better (blue coats instead of orange and all that jazz), but not much of an opinion overall. post calamity i think link would never really hunt foxes. the noises they make are sad and he sees them frequently to the point theyre like. not friends but friends. goats!!! if one tried to headbutt urbosa she'd try to flip it over, so sometimes thats why they have meat to cook. daruk isnt a fan he doesnt like how it charges at him. mipha is cautious and revali doesnt care. zelda likes them! link has no opinion. wolves/coyotes! urbosa views them as mostly a nuisance. everyones usually ok with killing them which is. kind of sad. actually its a bit funny how wolves are in packs in botw, considering the lone wolf saying. herons! food/pretty. mipha likes how they fly, and zelda is curious on why the pink and grey ones stick together sometimes. and also why theyre ON THE ROAD. meese/moose! Big. scary. mostly feared. RHINOCEROS :DD!!!!!!! zelda would Love these things -
link and mipha would be interested in the horn. revali would like it a lot, its a cool animal in His region. urbosa would be interested in them, especially because they were in hotter regions. daruk just sits back and lets everyone else interact with them. pigeons!! camping friends, theyre chill. i think post calamity link would like to think a pigeon or two would be rhoam watching the plateau in his old areas. he doesnt see pigeons in most areas, after all. rainbow pigeons would interest zelda and revali, and revali would collect their feathers either for luck or for decoration (a different color feather meaning something different), and zelda would just be interested in how/Why its colored like that. daruk thinks theyre neat! otherwise cool but meh to everyone else. (also looked at the wiki AND APPARENTLY THERES A FIREPROOF PIGEON…..). snow pigeons dont really mean anything to everyone else, but to revali theyre a symbol of cleverness/survival. if you see one its thought to mean that camping will be fruitful. theyre calls probably mean something, but it varies. ducks!!! link and mipha like them, for mipha theyre hunting partners, and for link they remind him of hateno, to him its like they visit him. daruk would enjoy them, urbosa wouldnt mind them. revali would like them. zelda also wouldnt mind them. island hawkers!!! revalis favorite animal he Loves to fly with those things. they visit medoh too and circle the village sometimes. mipha would like to watch them, urbosa would get annoyed at their shadows, daruk wouldnt mind them and neither would link, and zelda would like their patterning. seagulls!! for link specifically theyre also an omen, he mostly saw them on the beach/the abandoned ship him and aryll found. he doesnt know what the omen is though. otherwise not much to say besides being food stealing Bastards and mipha would absolutely punch one if she saw it. shes heard of seagull tales…. ALSO post calamity he uses them for fish indicators. not much else. SAND SEALS. urbosa loves them dearly and she makes fun of everyone else for not having them. theyre sledding Pros, and zelda finds them fascinating. mipha is also curious about them because shes heard of seals from the sea, so shes interested if theres a connection!! but also the sledding is a new and weird thing for her. to link theyre like horses but not. traveling buddies, but he still misses his horse……… though dont tell his horse this but he actually really does like the sledding thing. its fun. daruk would try to outrace a sand seal i think, and he likes em! revali would probably just leave them be in all honesty, its just not his thing. i think sand seals would be a sign of Winning if that makes sense. cuccos!! link would hit them three times for eggs and would scare everyone half to death. zelda wants to study their hatred/ability to attack. actually i think she’d do that youtuber thing of putting cuccos against lynels. also revali would have mixed feelings. like on one hand they look so stupid but also a mountain is named after them??? why?? but yeah chicken. fish would also have some significance like salmon for revali, sizzlefin trout being traded from the gorons to the zora, hearty bass being miphas pride to hunt, sneaky river snails being really cool to zelda, frozen porgy being a snack for urbosa, and mipha just. liking crabs. not eating them as zoras dont do that usually? but enjoying their presence. also zelda would catch bugs . alsoalso off topic but theres always a bird motif throughout hyrule castle. this is probably due to their symbol and loftwings and such but i think zelda would have Some kind of feelings towards a specific bird, i just dont know which one…. its more like the stone birds being. not an omen but a reminder of where she is. and a bird similar to the stone ones would freak her out i think

I would like to join the vision lu au please
do you think Four would maybe have a dendro vision because he's very knowledgeable and sassy?
I wanna say Wind has pyro cuz he's very passionate yk? but also anemo would work too with his [want of] freedom to be a pirate and cuss...
maybe Warriors has cryo?? he has a big heart and is very good at his craft. but he could also be hydro with his sense of justice...
I wanna say Time is cryo aswell, but he might also be dendro...
oh Twilight could def be geo. he's very stable and takes promises seriously.
Wild could prob be anemo with how free of care he is?
Legend might be electro for how hard he's fighting to keep the peace.
electro Sky? I'm hooked. and Hyrule def has a hydro vision but also has weird unexplainable abilities.
anyways, this us just my input. If you have other things planned I look forward to them!
(✿╹◡╹)ノ
Four exists in this nebulous area of "what the actual fuck am I supposed to do about the vision" because you have clear elemental assignments to the colors but the majority of the time he's not split and straight up having four visions simply. Would not make sense.
Pyro Wars and Anemo Wind are decided because I'm actually posting a fic about them tomorrow (technically today) lol. Kinda wish I had thought of Cryo tho 😔
I was originally going for Geo Time because he's very stable and such. Something a bit like Noelle, actually, abilities wise. Then Dendro was suggested and I remembered I write him as a little shit lol
I'm still undecided on Legend's vision (meaning I have no idea). Electro would be good, like you said... but what about Anemo? For his dead friend, Marin? (That's a joke (actually wait that's something to consider...))
Actually... doesn't one of his medallions summon lightning? It's not really super relevant, but...
Twilight I'm almost positive I'm going to pick Electro for (some of the Twili/shadow magic in the game is kinda electricky), but honestly it could go to Dendro or Geo...
Wild was a near instant pick for Anemo. I'll admit there wasn't any deeper meaning I just thought "likes gliding" and "dead friends". Kinda funny if he just woke up in the shrine with it, because he received it right before he died, right?
(Another cool thing- Venti does have some association with the god of time, and flurry rush and bullet time are very clearly time manipulation)
I was thinking something like Kazuha's and Venti's skill, which I'm now realizing would render Revali’s Gale obsel- actually wait what's up with the other races?
We have four races (excluding Sheikah, Hylians, humans, and whatever the fuck the Surface and Termina had going on), all of which are heavily associated with an element, as well as four Champions even more heavily associated with it.
First- the Champions.
It seems unfair to just erase Revali’s hard work with the use of an Anemo vision, so if he does have one, that's not it. The other Champions, they all had their abilities at birth (well, maybe not Urbosa, but nothing in the game seems to suggest otherwise).
Daruk's Protection can't be replaced with a vision, because Yunobo has it as well (and even if he happened to have the same vision, it still wouldn't make sense). Mipha’s Grace doesn't seem like a genetic ability, so she could have had a viso-
Ok but what if Sidon felt... less than her because he never received one, and she did from an early age? We already know he doesn't think he's as good as her, so...
(Would he receive one fighting Vah Ruta? Unlikely. Could he receive one fighting Waterblight and protecting Mipha? Maybe.)
Side thing over- it's very likely Mipha’s abilities are aided by a vision, some more Hydro healing.
Another side thing- what would happen if a Zora received an Electro vision? It's a bad match, we all know that, but would they receive resistance to it as well? Or simply never use or receive one?
Urbosa's Fury... could be genetic, could be a vision, but honestly, any of them using a vision just... simply doesn't make much sense considering they can pass on the abilities.
That's a problem for future me though. On to the races in general.
Considering no nation in Teyvat seems to have a lot of vision holders that correspond to that nation's element (excluding Sumeru, but we'll forgive that lol), the same should apply to the races of Hyrule- as in, Rito aren't more likely to receive Anemo, Zora Hydro, etc- but do they get visions at all?
If Celestia = Golden Goddesses, then those three are the one bestowing visions, rather than, say, FD giving out the Pyro visions (this is an example I've not decided on anything regarding gods and elements). I've not played any of the games where the Golden Goddesses are more prominent, but by botw, there's simply not much sign of them outside the Great Plateau, a primarily Hylian occupied place (presumably).
Of course, I could be wrong (I likely am), but Hylia seems to be the only truly worshipped god, especially in places such as Zora's Domain and Rito Village.
Presuming in other games that the other races do worship the Golden Goddesses alongside/instead of Hylia, and thus do receive visions, would they be scarcer in botw overall? Is worship of the GGs something you must do to receive a vision?
ACTUALLY Hyrule isn't from Hyrule at all. What about other countries, such as Holodrum, Labrynna, and Hytopia, or other worlds, like Lorule and the Twili Realm?
Back to Genshin- Khaenri'ah is a godless nation, presumably (excluding Kaeya) they don't have visions. Enkanomiya was also separated from the gods and Celestia (except for the hypothetical Istaroth), and there's no sign of visions there either- of course, Celestia seems to occupied solely by dicks, considering the, yknow, genocide and three celestial nails-, and the GGs seem like absent but caring gods, so for simplicity's sake, yeah, they don't give a shit about it. (Sorry for Genshin lore dumping on an lu post lol)
So, as now established, the GGs don't give a shit and other races receive visions, places on the same geographical map (Labrynna/Holodrum/Hytopia (I think Hytopia is, anyway)) should receive visions regardless who they worship as well, although considering the oracles Din, Nayru, and the unfortunately excluded Farore, Holodrum and Labrynna seem on board with the GGs. Hytopia, I, uh, have no clue
BUT- what about Lorule and the Twili?
I'm not super sure about what the hell is up with Lorule (I did just do a brief scan of its page though), so what I'm about to say is probably riddled with inaccuracies and/or obviously stated things
They have their own (now destroyed) Triforce, their own Sacred Realm, and I've even heard the name Lolia tossed around, which I'm assuming is not, actually, a real person
With this evidence, I now present to you:
Lorule isn't a mirror of Hyrule but rather a completely parallel dimension with a similar but altered history and geography
(Also- is any of this relevant anymore? Fuck no! But I'm having a lot of fun!)
Working off this- they have their own GGs, who in turn have their own system of visions. The same 7 element system and the associated reactions, but different traits. Pretty simple, reall-
Would Legend's vision work there?
His vision, filled with elemental power bestowed by his GGs, could it work in a land completely separated from them?
Uh. I don't know. If I try to talk about this it will probably be several more paragraphs. Short answer- problem for future me
OVER TO THE TWILI- they are a separate, but still attached to Hyrule, place, but what does this mean for the GGs and their influence?
(Also- I had an idea for the Abyss and Twili magic- please do not ask about this unless you want more useless information)
The Twili show no signs of worshipping the GGs or Hylia (or even other gods, such as FD and Majora); in fact, it seems like the sols are actually sort of their religion (if I'm remembering correctly).
The Twili would, hypothetically, take the place of Enkanomiya here- separate from the gods, no influence from them whatsoever.
(Well, actually, Enkanomiya is like, super fucking old, predating the archon war and presumed appearance of visions, and separated from the rest of Teyvat willingly (?) when Celestia came into power, and the Twili were banished, but that's not relevant (also don't take my word on any Genshin lore my memory is shit), and also Istaroth (?) a god (??) was present there (???), so. Yeah.)
For simplicity's sake, yeah! Twili can have visions! However, as evidenced by this entire fucking post, I don't like simple things! Time to fuck around and find out!
Presuming the Triforce is connected to the GGs power, yes, they still have influence in the Twili Realm, because Ganondorf was able to give Zant some of his power that he received from his piece, so, yes! They have visions!
Ok, though, but what after Midna shatters the mirror?
Presuming her statement of seeing Link later was not just to make him feel better, or a simple farewell, then yes. There is another way to the Twili Realm, and thus they still have visions.
But if it was the only way... no. They do not have visions after she shattered my heart- I mean, the mirror.
But, these are the Golden Goddesses we're talking about! Creators of everything under the sun, and the sun too! They can still reach it, I'm sure!
So yeah. They have visions. Always have, always will.
I think that covers everything- for now, at least. Who knows what will set me off next time
Anyway, it is... late. I've been typing for nearly an hour and a half, and I'm not going back over all this crap. I've slowly gotten more unhinged over the course of writing this, as I'm sure is quite clear.
Hope this all makes sense, if, yknow, you actually read this far lol

Tribal Distances
Tribal Distances
by geniemadeofclouds
The four Tribes, Zora's Domain, Gerudo Desert, Goron City on Death Mountain, and the Rito had sealed themselves off after the death of Princess Zelda during the fight against Calamity Ganon one hundred years ago. They had no need for unity with the threat of the malice gone, and intended to keep to themselves if Hylia continued to allow it.
The many cultures of Hylians all over the map fell into disarray, on the edge of disaster, and living with the threat of war.
Link had just woken up in the Shrine of Resurrection fifty years after the Calamity officially ended, one hundred years after he was put to sleep. He was given a mission to unite Hyrule, bring the Tribes together, and stop New Hyrule's oppressive monarchy.
With the help of Prince Sidon, he makes his way across Hyrule to speak with the leaders of each Tribe. Maybe he'll fall in love along the way.

Why Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is so heartwrenching
!!!PLEASE DONT PUT ANY END OF GAME SPOILERS IN MY COMMENTS!!! TEARS OF THE DRAGON QUESTLINE MAJOR AND MAIN QUESTLINE LEADING UP TO THE FINAL DEFEAT GANON QUEST SPOILERS AHEAD
People talk about how sad totk is, but not exactly why, and why we feel such a strong connection to the characters. First off lets talk about the Sages. The first four (Riju, Yunobo, Tulin, and Sidon) already carry the trauma from Breath of the Wild (Tulin less than the others). Riju lost her mother at a young age, and was thrown into politics at around the age of 9. At the age of 12 she was forced to save her entire town and her people from a threat much larger than her, and she feels as though she let the town down by letting the Thunder Helm get stolen. All this is happening while the people of Hyrule think that the world will be ending soon due to the Calamity. Sidon lost his elder sister as a young child, seeing what it did to the people of the Domain. He had to look at a statue of her every day and remember his loss, all while Link shows up, presumably having known him when he was a child, and doesnt remember him OR his sister that was in love with Link. Then HE has to save the Domain with Link just like Riju, afraid that he's going to lose his friend. In totk, Sidon has a fiance and is afraid to leave the Domain in fear of losing her like he did Mipha. Yunobo had to deal with life threatening issues while helping Link with Vah Rudania, almost dying many times having to rely on a power that couple potentially fail. Tulin was very little when everything was happening, but the fact that he almost lost his father and his entire village as a child, and started training at such an early age has put a huge weight on his shoulders. The sages now have to save Hyrule yet again only a few years later, each of them fighting an internal struggle with not feeling good enough, then pledging their lives to aiding Link, seemingly having no other purpose in their life. They gave up part of their spirits for him, all while Sidon has become a king, having to take on those responsibilities as well.
Now onto Zelda. In her lifetime, Zelda has lost her mother, her father, her father emotionally and verbally abusing her, telling her that if she doesnt unlock a power that she has no control over she would be useless, assigned a personal knight that reminds her of her failures simply by existing, falling on love with said knight, he almost dies trying to protect her and if she had unlocked her power one moment sooner he would have been ok, her mother figure (urbosa) dying in a horrific manner, all the champions that SHE assigned dying and blaming herself for it, and the fact that she couldnt protect everyone, THEN has to seal herself in the calamity for 100 YEARS ALONE using up her power with no rest, then finally when things are going back to normal people get sick around the castle, she finds a corpse under the castle, falls in a hole and goes BACK IN TIME where she doesnt know if link survived or not until he sends her the master sword, then she TURNS INTO A DRAGON GIVING UP HER HUMANITY WHILE SHE COULDNT SAVE RAURU OR SONIA LOSING TWO MORE PARENTAL FIGURES IN THE PROCESS?????? This poor girl needs a break.
And finally Link. He was made a knight as a toddler, who knows what happened to his mother, she was never mentioned, the princess he is assigned to seems to hate him, then everything goes to shit, the calamity returns, all his friends and soon-to-be-fiance are dead, he still has to protect the princess, falls in battle, feels like a failure because he was supposed to be the savior, passes out, wakes up 100 years later, no memory of who he is, gets told by a ghost of the king that he needs to go to the castle, fight the calamity, free the divine beasts, and save the princess, gains back his memories sowly but he cant remember his family, THEN after he saves the princess (while saving EVERYONE ELSE in the process) and it probably have taken months, then he gets her back and only a few years later after they probably fell in love he LOSES HER AGAIN and has no idea where she went only to find out that shes 10,000 years in the past she turned herself into a FUCKING DRAGON JUST SO HE COULD SAVE ALL OF HYRULE and he finds out that she sacrifices herself AND THEN HE SEES HER AT THE CASTLE ONLY FOR HER TO TURN BACK TIME AND BRING UP ALL HIS TRAUMA AND FOR A FEW MOMENTS HE THINKS THAT THE PERSON HE LOVES MOST IN THE WORLD HAS INTENTIONALLY CAUSED HIM TO RELIVE HIS TRAUMA AND TAUNTING HIM WITH IT THEN SHE TURNS OUT TO BE A PUPPET OF GANON LIKE THE HURT IN THIS POOR BOYS EYES. THIS MAN HAS BEEN THROUGH HELL AND BACK AND HE CANT GET A BREAK AND NOW HIS ZELDA IS GONE WITH NO WAY TO BRING HER BACK BECAUSE SHE MADE HERSELF IMMORTAL OMGGGGG
this game is so heartbreaking istg. It may not be the darkest game like we were told, but it sure is the saddest by far, at least in my eyes
reminder please do not put any end game spoilers in the comments

I feel like its SUPER important i document my funny tears of the kingdom experiences for future reference (cause my memory is absolute garbage and idk.. someone might find them entertaining.)
Its also fun to keep in mind that the only Zelda games I’ve played are Breath of the Wild and about half of Skyward Sword (trust me, I think this makes most of these funnier.)
I might update this as i have new encounters so it might get more spoilery as time goes on. But like.. its almost two months old and I just got it(expensive rip) so maybe spoiler warnings will be obsolete by then.
so SPOILERS AHEAD. Mostly minor spoilers since i’ve made next to no story progress in the game due to infinite distractibility and my inability to plan anything out ever (theres a reason i have 500 hours in botw.)
me, playing through the game trying to solve the mystery of getting to a high place: “ mmmm maybe i can climb it or rev(remembers I don’t have champion abilities) …ah”
*SPENDS TEN MINUTES WANDERING THE PERIMETER BEFORE COMING BACK AND REALIZING THERES AN OVERHANG* ”fucking hell, i was supposed to use the new ability the game literally taught me to use like three minutes ago.”
*going through a forest minding my own damn business, sees a tree fucking get up* ”WHAT THE SHIT- TREE MIMIC?”
Trying to get to Kakariko:” okay, i gotta find a path that doesn’t have a sinkhole or rot.”
*thinks again, but slower*
“did I just call the malice pool rot?”(the rw brainrot is real)
*sees a pool of malice moving around* ”what. Is. That.”
*it has hands, arms and eyes and it staring at me*
“WHAT IN THE PRINCESS MONONOKE-“*fucking books it to the tower*
Just climbing in the rain. Thats it. Botw treated me so well with Revali’s gale and infinite firestarters that I forgot about the pain that is climbing in the rain.
*goes to the central tower for the first time and sees link get FUCKING MANHANDLED by robot arms JUST to have them plug in his iphone and give him a fanny pack with a cord attached* ”What the FUCK Purah-“
*climbing up and around the colosseum ruins searching for chests or points of interests* ”Okay… so there’s gonna be lots of enemies if i remember right- more materials is good-“
*There were no enemies except a giant dragon. Of COURSE my curious dumbass went TOWARD the danger despite being unequipped*
“what the-”
*the dragon (with three heads) has a wider range of vision I guess and spots me. threat music starts*
“Oh god oh fuck-“
*in the end, Link was about five seconds away from being electrocuted to death. Luckily, despite FREQUENTLY FORGETTING to use abilities- i’m very familiar with using the map to teleport. Link lived another day (I think. Maybe I died to something else, idk)
*doing stable trotters mission* ”i’m basically their uber driver now.”
*hits a person and gets stuck not even five seconds later*
STORY BASED SPOILERS OR MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD
*enters rito village and books it to the elder, sees teba and tulin* ”oh my god is that a child”
*gushes over how cute it is that Tulin is excited to see link* just Tulin in general to be honest.
*making my way to the stormwind ark, uses tulin’s ability for like the first time* ”I like it(Tulin’s enthusiasm) Picasso.” *obtains the master sword*
“OH MY f u c - the light dragon brings you back to where Link gives the sword over and where she received it i’m gonna start crying.”
*general depression over Link and Zelda*
*beats marbled gohma and sees Yunobo next to the special stone* ”wow- can’t wait to watch the same cutscene with different commentary for the fourth time now!
*has to look up how to progress on dragonhead island because i forgot doors exist*
*Watching the intro to the dragon fight cutscene*
“Man. Mineru claimed that becoming a dragon means losing yourself but idk…. This looks pretty damn personal if you ask me.”
*Upon demon dragon lighting up in defeat*
Lit up like the fourth of july
*Sees the massive laser beam upon death8
OH THAT IS NOT THE FOURTH OF JULY
*sobbing at ending cutscene*

...suddenly realizing that within the scope of my “Link + younger sister Aryll both get placed in Shrine of Resurrection” BotW AU, there are so many people within all the kingdoms who Aryll can find connection with over losing family members.
Paya’s parents presumably aren’t alive anymore- she’s living with her grandmother. Koko and Cottla’s mother died at the hands of the Yiga. Sidon and his father lost Mipha a century ago. Riju lost her mother as well. The Rito say that a few individuals from their village had been shot down from the sky by Vah Naboris. It’s entirely unknown whether Yunobo has a parent around, but he certainly never got a chance to know his grandfather Daruk.
Aryll... in the scope of my story... had to come to terms with her father’s death when she was young, and then wakes up confused and disoriented a century later... her mother nowhere to be seen, and her older brother remembering almost nothing. She’s dealt with a lot of loss, and yet... so have others. While tragic that there’s such a shared suffering amongst this world to begin with, there’s so many out there who understand.
She’s most definitely not alone.

experiment #46
i wrote this in honor of @annabethwithabook who gave me the idea. i hope this is everything you dreamed it would be.
read on ao3
———
Based on a True Story
“Zelda, are you sure this is going to work?” Link yelled up at her.
Zelda checked the breaks one last time where Link had showed her on the bike.
“Don’t worry Link! I believe I calculated everything correctly…” She trailed off, making sure her feet would be firmly planted on the foot pegs when she was riding. “Plus,” she started again. “I think this will be our best chance of finding out the Master Cycle’s true potential!”
While Zelda excitedly made sure all last preparations were in place, Link, feeling extremely unsure, stood on a wooden raft in the Hylia River.
A wooden raft that was connected by rope to the back of the Master Cycle, which Zelda was currently sitting atop of.
When Zelda first saw the Master Cycle after they had defeated Ganon, she was astounded. She actually took it apart to see how the engine system worked and thought about designing a guardian part mechanism to make the engine run faster, but she claimed that project could wait.
“This experiment is much more important”, she said. “It was number forty-six on my list, but now it’s bumped right up to number one!”
Zelda wanted to see just what the Master Cycle was capable of. What could it be used for? How efficiently can it run? Can we make it even more efficient? She had a million ideas she wanted to test, jotting all of them down in her journal, and this one, she decided, was the best. So, she made Link find one of the old, wooden rafts that floated around the various rivers and lakes of Hyrule, tear off its sail, and connect a rope from the wooden post to the back of the Master Cycle.
Link wanted to say something. He wanted to tell her that this experiment wouldn’t work, because he had tried it before with some of the stable hands one night after a few too many drinks.
But he didn’t have the heart to tell her. She was so excited. Zelda had calculated everything out and if it worked, this concept along with all of the other Divine Beast technology could advance Hyrule into a technological revolution.
So, he just kept his mouth shut. And thanked himself for taking off his shirt and shoes because he was definitely going to end up in the water at some point.
Zelda sat in the Master Cycle a little further ahead of him along the path of the Hylia River, skin glowing in the summer sun while in a tank top in shorts. Her short, glowing hair waving with the breeze made her look like sunshine. Link gulped and looked away, pretending the nervous feeling in his stomach was because he could possibly die from this experiment and not how beautiful Zelda looked.
“Alright, Link! I think we’re ready!” She turned around, smile bright with anticipation. “Are you okay?”
Link gave a thumbs up and an unconvincing smile.
Zelda turned around with a huff. “He should know by now I can see through those constipated smiles of his. Oh well, might as well get this started…” she muttered to herself.
Zelda revved the engine, the loud noise making her jump but fueling her excitement tenfold. She giggled and did a little dance as she could barely contain herself, and then turned around once more to see the signal from Link.
Link could practically see Zelda vibrating with excitement as she looked back at him on the Master Cycle, and he gripped the makeshift handle tied to the wooden post in the middle just a little tighter.
“Ready!” He shouted.
He was not ready.
“Alright!” Zelda squealed. “Here we go—“
The Master Cycle jerked forward as Zelda did not ease into pressing on the gas like Link told her too. The rope pulled taut and the Master Cycle didn’t go anywhere for a moment. The wheels spun around in the dirt, dust flying everywhere.
And then, Link was moving.
Zelda was moving.
Zelda was pulling Link.
It was actually working. Zelda rode along the path next to the river, pulling the raft that Link was standing on. It was slow moving, but it was working nonetheless.
A smile quirked onto Link’s face.
“Wooooooohooooo!!” Zelda cheered, pumping a fist in the air.
It was one cheer too soon.
It happened all too quickly. One moment, Link was gliding across the water on the raft, Zelda safely on the side of the river, and the next moment, Zelda was off the Master Cycle, falling into the river.
Link dove into the river immediately, panic burning in his chest.
He was so, so thankful for the water safety mechanism that the Master Cycle had. He knew that once it hit the water, it would dissipate into the air and Zelda wouldn’t be crushed.
At least he hoped.
Link swam as fast as he could, keeping an eye on Zelda and hoping she wasn’t hurt. He saw her head bob out of the water and her arms flapping to help her stay afloat.
“Zel! Zel, hold on!” Link swam faster, hoping to god she wasn’t drowning.
Zelda’s head popped out of the water once more and stayed up this time. Link grabbed her shoulders to help her steady.
She was having quite a coughing fit before the coughs turned into pure laughter. Link was too busy checking her for injuries and keeping her afloat to notice.
“It actually worked!” She beamed. “I knew it would. I believe what went wrong was the shape of the raft, maybe if we could—“
Zelda paused at Link who was scanning his eyes all over her, brows furrowed with a displaced look of worry she didn’t often see from him.
“Link.”
He ignored her, gliding his hands all over her shoulder and arm. She frowned.
“Link.”
He ignored her again. Zelda huffed in frustration, grabbing his face in her hands.
“Link, you big dummy, listen to me!”
Link froze, big blue eyes snapping to up to her face.
“Are you even listening to me? Link, it worked.”
This time, Link frowned. “Yeah, barely. Zel, you almost died.”
Zelda’s mouth gaped open. “I did not almost die. Link I’m fine—“
“Your arm.”
Zelda looked down at her right arm where Link’s fingers were gently brushing against it, examining where her arm had gotten skinned against the ground when she fell. His deep blue eyes were alert with worry.
Zelda moved her hands down from his face and onto his shoulders. “Link, I’m fine. I can’t even feel it. Don’t you see what this means? If we can perfect this mechanism—“
“Are you sure you’re okay?”
Link stared at her, the water reflecting light against his tanned, sun kissed skin. The look of worry didn’t falter, he just waited for her to give her a reassuring answer.
Zelda then realized their proximity. Link held her up with his arms, treading water to keep them both afloat. Zelda was holding on to his shoulders, her chest inches away from his bare one. She could see his face so clearly, the water dripping down from his hair and onto his cheeks. The water made his blue eyes sparkle.
Zelda swallowed.
“I-I’m fine, Link.”
Link’s faced stayed twisted with that worry for a moment before relaxing back to what Zelda was used to. She felt herself relax too, and brought the smile back to her face.
“We need to make several adjustments, but I think this could be the start of something.”
“First,” Link said. “Let’s get out of this water and dry off. Then, what adjustments need to be made exactly?”
Zelda grinned. “We need a different raft. And more people.”
———
“Uh, a-and what do I do again?”
Link watched Yunobo’s hands shake as he sprawled out on the new and improved aerodynamic raft attached to the new and improved Master Cycle—Master Watercraft as Zelda called it. Which wouldn’t have been possible without the help of their friends.
They enlisted the help of Sidon, who demonstrated just what makes Zoras swim so efficiently, and Zelda decided they needed a new raft that was smaller, lighter, and more aerodynamic, mirroring the way Zora’s glided across the water on their stomachs. Then, to fix the problem of the Master Cycle tipping over into the water, Zelda completely deconstructed the Master Cycle and reconstructed it with a more powerful, guardian powered engine along with floating devices to keep it above the water. She added floating devices to the raft too, for extra measure.
They needed people of different body statures to test it out, which was why Yunobo was now shaking like a leaf as he laid stomach down on the raft, holding onto the front for dear life. Link smirked.
He has no idea what he’s gotten himself into.
“All you have to do is hold on!” Zelda yelled from the side of the river, standing next to Sidon and Riju. Sidon was present as a research partner and consultant, while Riju had come for “the entertainment”.
“You’ll be fine, my dear Yunobo!” Sidon’s encouraging words rang out. “I guarantee it!”
“You definitely won’t die,” Riju yelled.
If Link looked back at Yunobo’s face again, he wasn’t sure he would be able to make the poor guy go through with it.
“This is extremely safe, Yunobo!” Zelda yelled again. “I’ve calculated all of it! And Link will go slow!”
Link smirked again. No promises, he thought to himself.
“Okay, Yunobo, are you ready?” Zelda threw a thumbs to Yunobo.
“I-I-I guess,” Yunobo stammered.
Link caught Zelda’s fiery green eyes. They were eyes that said don’t go too fast and please definitely don’t do anything stupid.
Link just smiled and revved the engine.
“Three, two, one!” Link yelled. And then he floored it.
The rope pulled taut under Yunobo’s weight, but once the engine adjusted, Link was flying across the water, the engine roaring in his ears. It almost drowned out Yunobo’s screams of terror as they made their way down the Hylia river. Link was having a blast.
It was going so well that Link went under every bridge that stretched across the river and all the way around Lake Hylia. He didn’t bother to look back at Yunobo, whose screams were letting him and all of Hyrule know he was still alive.
Once Link made his way around Lake Hylia, he went all the way back down the river to where they had started. He could see Zelda from a distance, jumping up and down with her hands in the air. Link slowed down once he made his way back to the starting point.
“It’s amazing!” Zelda yelled, beaming from ear to ear. “Goddesses it actually worked!”
Link came to a stop in front of them, feeling joyous as well from all the adrenaline and excitement. How could he have ever doubted Zelda’s genius in the first place? This right here, he thought, this has potential.
“Yunobo!” Sidon shouted. “Are you alright?”
Link turned around to find Yunobo still clutching to the raft like it was his life line. His face might have been a little pale, but then he spoke up.
“T-That was actually fun!”
They all laughed, Zelda shouting in victory again. Link watched her face light up with her smile and thanked the goddesses his wish came true.
“Alright,” Riju spoke up. “I’m definitely going next.”
They used the Master Watercraft all night, taking turns riding and driving and racing Sidon well after the sun had finally set.
Experiment #46, check.

I don’t think enough people talk about how young Link is (in botw is what I’m mainly focusing on because there are some games where he’s literally 5 and then there are some games where he’s 35 and has a part-time job and a bachelors degree in economics) because he is very young. He’s 17, i think, which is an adult but definitely young when you take into account that he is destined to save the world. I’m sorry but 17-year-old couldn’t even handle the stress of his APChem homework let alone saving the world.  Like, math homework is stressful, book reports are stressful, midterms are stressful, fighting a battle against a pig demon 120x your size with nothing but a magic sword, a bird, a big lady with sparkle fingers, a rock guy, a shark, and the supposed-to-be magical descendant of a goddess is mentally scarring. If you think about this enough, which I have...Clearly, it gets to the point where you realize this poor little guy is falling apart at the seams.
Not only did he go through all of that stress but then, after almost dying and being comatose for a hundred years, he’s thrust into a world he knows nothing of where everyone but a shark guy and a community of talking root vegetables wish he had died during that fight  which he still isn’t sure he actually fought in until, of course, you realize that he would be remembering the nitty gritty of the fight (because there are memories of the fight but those are mostly with Zelda, think of what he remembers without her or any of the champions) and it keeps him awake at night.
Which brings us to the fact that Link is entirely and completely alone on this journey with no one to talk to because, yes, fanfiction that’s slightly canon divergent likes to have this sweet little thought that Zelda is there or, maybe sometimes, the Champions are there or Sidon comes along but No. In the actual game he’s alone. He has nobody on his entire jounrey throughout Hyrule he has no one to talk to, cling to when he cries, to bring him out of panic attacks, he has nobody. Yeah, he’s got Impa and Purah and Robbie, Sidon, Riju, Yunobo, Teba, he’s got all of them but when you think about all the responsibilities he has, all the things he has to do and fights he has to win, he can’t go and visit them. So he’s alone for the months, years, who knows how long, riding across Hyrule fighting Lynels and Hinoxes and Guardians all up until the final boss fight where he as to fight the pig demon again and then, after he wins if he wins, then what? Hyrule is still a desolate wasteland, all of his friends and family are still dead. I guess he could start all over but how can he start a new life when he can’t even remember his past one? How can he rebuild his home if he doesn’t even feel at home when he touches the vine covered ruins of Hyrule? He diesn’t feel the least bit wistful nor determined to fix things because ho can he when all he feels is hollow????
All of this! ALL OF THIS! Would be horrific to experience as an adult now you have to multiply that buy google plex to get how horriffying that is for a child. Can botw2 be the last loz game please? My baby needs some rest. Or maybe we could compromise and he could have a sweet game where he and Zelda run around and take pictures of flowers with the Sheikah slate and Link HIYAH’s down a forest and builds them a log cabin where they sit and knit scarves.

YOU KNOW NOT WHAT YOU ASK FOR
Because OKAY
OKAY
LISTEN
HERE IS WHAT CANONICALLY HAPPENS IN ZORA’S DOMAIN. You get close. Zoras keep telling you that Prince Sidon is looking for a Hylian’s aid. NOTE. PRINCE SIDON. Not King Dorephan. Not Zora’s Domain. Prince Sidon. We’re just gonna keep that in our little brains for now.
We meet Sidon at the bridge. He is very polite, and sends us on our eay. I need to review that scene but for now it’s not terribly important. We get to Zora’s Domain, and we meet the regular people, who know it wasn’t Link’s fault, and the old geezers, who got a nasty case of misplaced trauma guilt goin’ on maskin’ as racism, hate him. But they are also ADAMANTLY turning away hylian aid with disgust. At least one of them is a Councilman, Muzu. Keep this in your brains too
We meet King Dorephan, and it’s apparent that he was not in on Sidon’s plan to get aid from a Hylian. He seems aware of it, “the Hylian the prince was looking for,” something like that, but either is hiding his participation, or was not participating at all. If Dorephan was sending out for help, we don’t see it. My guess is with the reservoir flooding, he had enough on his hands just trying to put out fires as they sprang up.
This was Sidon’s plan. Sidon’s plan was to get the aid of a hylian, who are more immune to electricity, and he was doing this against the opinions of the elders, and at least one councilman. I suspect the other elders we see are also councilmembers, but I can’t confirm it. At most, he had Dorephan’s blessing, but at worst, he was doing this against the council and probably because his father’s hands were tied with a council full of old geezers turning away aid but disobeying them would probably look like tyranny.
But a royal who can more easily get away with this plan? A prince.
Sidon is so convicted or at least so damn fed up that he is going against the elders, possibly against a council, to get help for his kingdom. That takes a lot of guts. That takes conviction. This is not a wishy-washy prince, this is not a dumb prince, this is a prince who has taken on the mantle of leading and protecting his domain.
And he is compassionate enough, like his father, to understand that Link wasn’t at fault. He and his father, if anyone had the right to be angry about Mipha dying, it’s those two. But they’re not. They both treat Link with kindness and in Sidon’s case, endless advocacy. Even after Muzu’s outburst, he treats him kindly, if firmly. He even talks to Link about understanding why they harbor such feelings, even if they’re unfair to Link. He is the ideal prince, protector of the realm and tireless advocate.
Something that he clearly puts great effort into, while his sister exuded it effortlessly. Sidon is working the whole time you’re doing the quest and then going after Vah Ruta. He swims right into battle with you against the thing that took his sister’s life.
Imagine your sibling dying in a particular building—one that looms over your city for as long as you can remember. Do you think you’d have the stomach to even approach it? Maybe you would. Maybe you wouldn’t. I still haven’t been to the place my sister died. It’s a half-hour away.
A reminder that Sidon was a child when she died. I’d say he’s roughly the equivalent of a toddler. He was a toddler when the title of crown royal came to him, and he would have to assume the real training to be king one day, take on the duties of his sister. Dealing with a father forever scarred by the loss of his child, dealing with his own trauma and grief that he’s probably had to stomach down for a century to do his job and do what’s right, all in the shadow of his peerless, graceful sibling who, almost perfect in life, was now perfect in death to the domain. Who could match her skill with her trident? Who could be so easily loving and courageous and strong?
How could a grieving, heart-broken toddler with his childhood ripped away from him compare to that?
There’s aspects of his characterization after this that would entirely be my own speculation and spin on him, such as attempting to fill the space Mipha left behind, seen in how diligently he tries to tell Link how incredible he is, how wonderful and amazing—perhaps also because he never got to tell those things to Mipha, and now will never get his chance. I see him as a prince who looks endlessly enthusiastic—and he is, in a way. But stretches himself thin, pushing himself harder than he should both to fill the gaps left behind by his sister and perhaps, though he’d never admit it, crawl out of them himself. He puts on a brave, strong face, for his father, for his people, for Mipha, and for himself. But it tears at his soul in death by a thousand cuts, a little at a time, every time he can only see his own shortcomings and failures and inability to fill the shoes his sister left behind.
I would not say he is tormented, or that it’s all fake; far from it, I think he genuinely believes not only in Link’s abilities but the abilities of everyone around him. But I believe he aches. An old bruise that’s easy enough to ignore most of the time and healing slowly. But it lingers, aching whenever he thinks he comes up short, pun intended. Reminding him that he is not Mipha. Reminding him that when his father looks at him he no doubt causes him pain, to resemble Mipha. Dorephan is a loving, supportive father, but even the most loving will be different after the loss of their child. Nothing will bring back the days that Sidon probably remembers faintly. And that is, itself, a grief that Sidon is, has, or will have to come to terms with. Your parent cannot be the same parent after the loss of your sibling, and your life will forever become Before Their Death and After Their Death. His father loves him, but grief paints them both. Their love as father and son is forever changed with her death. Each has a hole that neither can fill—and both of them know that. It does not lessen their love; but it remains incomplete.
He has well-earned his fan club, but not for his hot bod.
And no I wouldn’t ship him with Link because yes falling in love with your dead fiancee’s sibling happens irl but like I said before if one of my own dead sister’s old boyfriends came back from the dead and was crushing on me I’d be out of there in a heartbeat, GOODBYE. It’s a perfectly fine ship BUT I GOT MY OWN BAGGAGE OKAY.
Maybe Bazz. Or Yunobo. Or Kass and Teba if they’re down for some polycules. Link and Sidon can be good-but-slightly-awkward-bros.
