Blue Lock Episode 33 Review - The Itoshi Brothers
Why is it that Rin and Sae’s voice actors moved from Haikyuu to Blue Lock in order to bring more sibling drama to the table? Is it a must that Koki Uchiyama and Takahiro Sakurai must be brothers in a sports anime? Things are never looking good whenever a sports anime has a character who has a prominent older brother. Though, I feel like Rin’s brocon drama is a lot more intense as he and Sae are closer in age so they were a lot closer than Tsukishima was with Akiteru.
Tumblr media
The flashback of the Itoshi brothers was super sweet. Sae cared a lot about Rin and always brought him to his soccer matches while Rin just looks on. Rin always admired Sae and decided to kick a soccer ball when he saw a chance for a goal. Sae took this opportunity to get Rin into soccer so that they both can be the best with him being the best and Rin the second best striker. Rin was so adorable in the past with him being all friendly and cute; he was even prone to smiling! The Itoshi brothers were a force to be reckoned with as young soccer prodigies. Sae even got an offer to play in Spain, so he left abroad. However, things all changed when he returned.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel like Sae got humbled when he was in Spain and it made him disillusioned. I guess that’s why he’s so condescending towards the other Japanese players because they’re not on his level, but he’s also trying to find someone who meets his match? Still, his words to Rin were a bit harsh, but that’s what older brothers do—I speak from experience. I think Sae’s words and actions were about him wanting Rin to stop being so co-dependent on him and to be his own man on the soccer field. However, Rin’s entire life was about his brother, so basically the link between them severed and it enraged him because to Rin, it feels as if Sae was abandoning his dream and running away. That’s how he became the emo guy now. Though, I do think that Rin is taking it too hard, while Sae doesn’t have bad intentions. I just think both are very awkward and very terrible when it comes to communication.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like, Sae looking down on Japanese players is evident with how he was planning on leaving halfway through the match. The U-20 players are clearly lacking and Aiku did not keep his promise of trying to win without Shidou. However, Aiku did have another trick on his sleeve in that he wants to use Shidou in the second half and that causes Sae to stay. I honestly can’t wait to see what Shidou has in store as he’s basically an enemy. It sort of reminds me of Kuon back in Season 1 where he was an ally at first, but later became an ally for the opposing team.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There wasn’t a lot of soccer playing in this episode aside from the Itoshi brothers’ flashback. Other than that, it’s a lot of dialogue as it is a break before the second half. I do like seeing some characters interact like Aryu being all glam and sticking his foot out in front of Raichi and Chigiri interacting with Hiori. Reo and Nagi got a moment together too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though, I do think that the interactions between the families was the highlight. Isagi’s parents and Bachira’s extremely fine mom meet and interact. Chigiri’s family shows up too! His mom is a cutie and his sister is super pretty! I really like seeing the families in Blue Lock because it’s super nice to see how the characters were brought up. Some have loving parents and caring older siblings. I think it’s to give a stark contrast of Rin’s family drama.
Tumblr media
And it’s not a review written by me if I don’t talk about voice actors. The voice casting is still pretty shocking because they cast quality voice actors for minor characters like family members and even for the characters as babies. I did mention back in a previous review that Sae’s child voice actress is Yuko Sanpei, who is known for voicing Boruto Uzumaki and Rin’s childhood voice actress is Yuka Terasaki who is known for voicing Roy from Pokemon Horizons. In this episode, Chigiri’s mom and sister are voiced and their names are revealed for the first time too! His mother’s name is Neneko and she’s voiced Ryoka Yuzuki who’s known for voicing Ino Yamanaka from the Naruto/Boruto series and is voicing Taiki’s mom from Blue Box. Chigiri’s sister’s name is Koyuki and she’s voiced by Rumi Okubo, who’s known for voicing Memcho from Oshi no Ko. Fun fact: the Ne in Neneko’s name means ‘cat’ while the ‘ko’ in Koyuki’s name means ‘tiger’. Add in the ‘hyo’ in Hyoma and the entire Chigiri family minus the unrevealed father are named after cats.
Tumblr media
But yeah, the animation quality is surprisingly a lot better here. I was surprised to see that. That’s all I’m going to say about the animation. The Additional Time was like twisting a knife where it hurt regarding the main story. Let me know your thoughts about this episode and the Itoshi brothers!

Hi I read the khr crossovers - but I just don't understand what nana is. in the skull story she is a kannagi but is she a shopkeeper like yuko from xxxholic? then what about watanuki? Also what is gamma?
The Florists of the Never Forget series
Hi! I guess I'll put a proper chronological order of events about what Nana is here. So first yes, Nana is a shopkeeper like Yuko from xxxHolic-- but in a different dimension.
for the AU, The CLAMP universe is the world of Hitsuzen. KHR is in the world of Dying Will. (Similarly, FMAB is the world of Truth. All different universes, so different shopkeepers. Technically the 'shopkeeper' of the FMAB universe is the door of truth itself.)
In the world of Dying Will, there are a hundred parallel timelines. Each timeline has a different shopkeeper (which is called a Kannagi). They are all the same person in a different incarnation. Less vital detail, but they are usually the holder of the Sky Mare Ring due to this dimension-supervising role they have.
Then there's the Inari. Basically the twin guards that protect her-- 'the mysterious bridge' connects to both the YuYuYu and KProject worlds to KHR. The shopkeeper can appear anywhere (but there's only one of her.) The Inari is one person with two bodies, one on each side of the bridge.
The shopkeeper can't leave the shop, so the Inari are basically her footsoldier/errand boys. They have much shorter lives than the Kannagi, but can exist across multiple timelines.
The first timeline's shopkeeper is Sakurai, and her timeline is the timeline of my Assassination Classroom OC fic, Outsider. There's no real relevance here except that she adopts the Second Reaper, Ran, at the end of their story, making Byakuran her first 'child'.
In the fourth timeline (Dahlia Dahlet), she marries into the Vongola and becomes Vongola 8th, Daniela's, mother. Daniela is actually also the second Inari, Beta, but that's only vaguely relevant. Beta is replaced by Gamma in the sixth timeline, and continues to serve her all the way through to the seventh timeline so far.
The sixth shopkeeper (Sia Campanula) is the timeline where As the Gods Will's god selection happens -- this timeline is abandoned at the end of their story, where Luce travels back in time, Daisy becomes god, Oregano and Lanchia move on to the seventh timeline, and Killian Campbell joins Byakuran as his Cloud Funeral Wreath.
Since the sixth timeline's been abandoned and the shopkeeper is gone, Gamma has been basically maintaining the balance on his own. Alpha and Delta's stories haven't been written yet, but they will also be canon characters.
Ran (Byakuran) was entrusted with the 100th timeline. But because that's the timeline Irie messed up with his time-travelling experiments, it was destroyed.
Now we have the seventh shopkeeper, Yuuri Nana. This is the canon timeline. It is the timeline with the most amount of dimensional whiplash due to the events of the FMAB installment. to maintain the order, Nana gives up her role as the shopkeeper and marries Iemitsu, settling down and giving birth to the first of her children that's fully human and of this world-- Tsuna.
Since then, Nana's Sky Mare Ring has been entrusted to Byakuran, who now governs the seventh timeline's future. This is because Byakuran made a deal with Ms Sakurai, and now he's ordained by destiny to become the villain of Tsuna's story.

Sera Myu Music Festival 2022 Blu-Ray
Event was held at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel Stellar Ball in Tokyo from November 17th – 20th, 2022.
I missed it by less than two weeks since I wasn't in Japan until December of that year. I doubt I would have stood a chance getting tickets.
Can we also talk about how excited I am to have Japanese Blu-Rays being the same region where I live? Makes it so much easier!!!

Voltage Fighting Gowcaizer (1995) 超人学園ゴウカイザー
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Date: September 18, 1995 Platform: PlayStation / Neo Geo / Neo Geo CD / Arcade Developer: Technos Japan Corp. Publisher: SNK Genre: Fighting Theme: Sci-Fi / Martial Arts / Superhero Director: Da Zhang Zhengji Screenwriter: Kengo Asai Starring: Nobuyuki Hiyama / Satoshi Sakurai / Hikaru Midorikawa / Ryutaro Oki / Yumi Fuyuma / Noriko Kuwajima / Akira Hayami / Hideyuki Hori / Yoshiyuki Kono / Ai Orikasa / Yuko Nagashima /Makiko Omoto / Hideo Ishikawa Genre: Action / Science Fiction / Animation Country/Region of Production: Japan Language: Japanese Date: 1996 Duration: 91 minutes Also known as: Chojin gakuen Gowcaizer / Super Gakuen Steel King / Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer IMDb: tt0204034 Type: Appropriation
Summary:
Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer (known in Japan as Choujin Gakuen Gowcaizer, loosely translated to "Superhuman Academy Gowcaizer") is a 2D fighting game developed by Technōs and released by SNK for arcades (running Neo Geo MVS hardware) on September 18, 1995.
The second fighting game from Japanese developer Technōs after the fighting game adaptation of their Double Dragon series, Gowcaizer is themed heavily on superheroes in Japanese pop-culture. The game is known for the ability to give the player's fighter a special move of a defeated opponent (similar to the Mega Man series and obscure fighting game BloodStorm). It's also known for its animated OVA adaptation.
The game was later released for the Neo Geo AVS on October 20, 1995 and ported to the Neo Geo CD on November 24, 1995 (featuring a vocal-laden arranged soundtrack). It was later ported to the Sony PlayStation by Urban Plant on July 17, 1997 exclusive to Japan. This version uses a new gameplay engine (and does not include the arranged soundtrack or the ability to copy moves). Gameplay
By default, the game allows players to earn one special move from each of their defeated opponent (even in VS battles) and use them as their own. Players can only equip one Trace Move at a time, which can either be replaced (after defeating an opponent) or swapped out (after continuing, from a selection of moves from previously-defeated opponents). If the player has previously defeated an opponent that is the same as their current character (or have defeated a mirror match opponent), they can instead opt to gain a more powerful version of their own Trace Move.
Using the Neo Geo service menu, arcade operators can change this mechanic to either allow players to swap out their Trace Moves after every match (similar to continuing), force players to replace their current Trace Move with their defeated opponent's, remove the ability to swap out Trace Moves after continuing, or disable Trace Moves entirely.
