FAKE NEWS

We got this from our Austin office this morning for public release. So before people start freaking out about what's going on in Texas this weekend here you go.
FYI –  For Information and situational awareness.  Please forward as you see fit.
October 25, 2018 NEWS RELEASE
FBI and DPS Lead Statewide Full-Scale Training Exercise
AUSTIN – The four Texas Divisions of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (Dallas, El Paso, Houston and San Antonio) and the Texas Department of Public Safety will lead a statewide Full-Scale Training Exercise (FTX) beginning Sunday, Oct. 28, at noon and ending at approximately 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30.
Numerous local, state and federal agencies* will participate in several FTX sites throughout Texas – in the cities of Greenville, Brenham, San Antonio and El Paso. The FTX will examine the ability of federal, state, local, tribal and territorial jurisdictions to respond to complex terrorist attacks with a focus on integrated response planning among law enforcement, medical services, emergency management and other whole community stakeholders.
Texans should not be alarmed if they see a large number of law enforcement personnel and equipment throughout the state during the exercise. We ask the public to avoid areas where the FTX is taking place — where out of the ordinary activity may occur related to the exercise, including role players portraying attackers and victims. (Additional details regarding specific FTX locations will be forthcoming from the respective FBI Division Offices.)
During the FTX, participants will focus on enhancing their ability to respond to real-life crisis events in an effort to save lives. Texans are reminded of the important role they also play in ensuring the safety of our communities by always reporting suspicious activities to law enforcement.

25APR2021: This us GREAT! Whilst getting in a cycle to drop off recyclables at fantastic Target, a mutually respectful wave between people operating vehicles on two wheels was followed up by enthusiastic discussion. It was former colleague Eddie & Margie (his significant other). Eddie & I had been at Parkland HS (still the only high school campus in the World-class Ysleta ISD in the Northeast El PasoTX-USA) during my 15-year assignment at that amazing campus. He was not surprised that I had reTIRED 31DEC2017, but I was quite surprised—and delighted—that they were both Peace Corps veterans, serving on central West Java Island, Indonesia. We apparently just missed seeing each other at the World-renowned 6 degrees hostel in Jakarta! As it is, another commonality is that we’ve been here for over a year now, staying out due to the cursed COVID19 pandemic crisis. And we’re all fully vaccinated. This was truly a delightful end to the day! (at El Paso Texas / Ciudad Juarez, Mexico) https://www.instagram.com/p/COHKmbyFA-A/?igshid=1kca4spouihyw

VLK Architects and YISD Celebrate the Groundbreaking of J.M. Hanks Middle School
El Paso, Texas, (March 02, 2021) — Last week, VLK Architects and Ysleta Independent School District commemorated J.M. Hanks Middle School groundbreaking. This new middle school will replace two aged district schools, Desert View Middle School and Indian Ridge Middle School. The new J.M. Hanks Middle School is located at the site of the old Indian Ridge campus.
“Our vision is to transform our aging schools into 21st-century modern learning hubs," said Dr. Xavier De La Torre, Superintendent of Schools of Ysleta ISD. "Thanks to the generous support of the community, we now have the resources to make J.M. Hanks Middle School a reality — and similar to our other new schools, it will push the boundaries of K-12 architecture in providing a state-of-the-art, modern learning environment for our students."
Hanks Middle School will include STEM classrooms; an open, flexible media center; fine arts and athletics wings; and a cafetorium for assemblies and performances. There are numerous collaboration areas and an abundance of natural light and glass, allowing for learning on display across the campus. The exterior features a prominent and intricate facade that will encourage student and community pride in their new middle school.
“Thinking back roughly a year to the first meetings with students, parents, and staff where we dreamed about what Hanks Middle School could be and the opportunities it will provide the students of Ysleta ISD. Now to be here seeing that dream take its first physical steps to reality it is so exciting and fulfilling,” said Clinton Schiver, Principal of VLK Architects.
The $46-million state-of-the-art facility is due to the YISD community support of the 2019 Bond. Hanks Middle School has a total building area of 175,182 SF and will serve 1,200 students, grades sixth through eighth. The new building will open for students in August 2022.

Middle School Student Killed During Anti-Gun School Walkout - CONSERVATIVE, OPINION

Middle School Student Killed During Anti-Gun School Walkout
Tumblr media
This is why you do not allow children to leave school during school hours when parents have entrusted their kid’s care to you.
An 11-year-old boy was struck and killed by a pickup truck on Friday when he, and other students, walked out of their El Paso, Texas school to protest gun laws, The New York Times reported.
Think about that. What does an 11-year-old know about gun laws and the Constitution? If he is anything like the majority of us were at age 11, not a ton. But he and his classmates were given an excuse to leave school and be used as props for the Democrat Party, and what kid is going to say no to leaving school?
“Obviously everybody’s in a state of shock,” Ysleta Independent School District Xavier De La Torre said at a press conference.
Jonathan Benko and 12 to 15 other students from Parkland Middle School, which shares its name with the Florida high school that started the current anti-gun drive, walked out of school on Friday and the teachers and administration let them do it.
But as kids sometimes do, they left school property to visit a park on another side of the city and they had to cross a busy highway to get there, The Times reported.
As he attempted to cross, Benko was hit by a Ford F-150. He was rushed to University Medical Center of El Paso where he died.
His mother Ashley Benko works as a nurse at the hospital and his uncle works there as a respiratory therapist.
“All of us at U.M.C. are heartbroken by the loss of a child belonging to one of our associates, especially a child as young as Jonathan,” Jacob Cintron, who serves as the chief executive of the medical center, said in a statement.
“What we’ve come to understand is that there are students out there that are very vocal, that are going to be our future leaders that are going to insist upon walking out,” De La Torre said. “And what we try to do is help them understand that they can still have a voice and that they can still have a presence and demonstrate their recognition and honor of some of the things that have happened in this country without leaving the premises.”
One idea would be acting as the adults and telling them that they cannot leave school. Kids have wanted to leave school since school began. As adults you are supposed to be the authority. Do it before other kids are killed.

04APR2021: Whilst assisting my most favorite #1 daughter in AustinTX-USA, I inadvertently locked myself out of the (motor)vehicle I had driven there (first time in a year I’d been so far outside El Paso County during this cursed COVID19 pandemic crisis). Fortunately, I had a spare key hidden underneath for exactly this reason. My motivation for secreting the key had its origin decades ago, when, whilst Assistant Scoutmaster (Troop 192, Scottsdale Baptist Church), one of our monthly camp outs was at Davis Mountains State Park, with a refreshing dip at the phenomenal Balmorhea State Park spring-fed (one of the World’s largest) pool. At that time, the (motor)vehicle I drove then was my beloved ‘93 4Runner, which was patiently waiting for me in the parking lot. After a refreshing swim/dive in the clear/cold water, me and my Scouts (including aforementioned daughter) returned to the vehicle, ready for a 3-hour drive. Alas, that was not to be because the ignition key was inside and the operator was outside. Fortunately, the park ranger came to the rescue—as long as I didn’t mind the door being sprung a bit. So, with a crowbar & wire coat hanger, he levered the door out just enough to pushed the straightened hanger into the cab, pushed the switch, and unlocked it. Once back home, I immediately wired a spare to the underneath. Never needed it. A few years later, my much better half acquired a Corolla; I immediately wired a spare underneath. Within. Few years, I was motoring this vehicle to work at fantastic Parkland High School (World-class Ysleta ISD) in the Northeast (El Paso) on a bitterly cold morning when I saw the traffic flow disrupted by a spare tyre laying in the lane. I knew my duty: I pulled to the side/stopped/and, when safe, removed the hazard. Unfortunately, I had inadvertently securely closed the door in that warm space—engine running. Fortunately, I had a spare key, which enabled me to quickly continue my workday. I mentioned it to one of the outstanding English teachers (Fritz), who sagely told me that “No good deed goes unpunished.” Regardless, I was satisfied. And, now years later, this is the “rest of the story”! (at El Paso Texas / Ciudad Juarez, Mexico) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNRF0pwFMwG/?igshid=1cyn2rgvqud6s

In a first, judge finds teacher’s Colorado high doesn’t count in Texas
In a first, judge finds teacher’s Colorado high doesn’t count in Texas
After Maryam Roland, a public high school teacher in Ysleta, in El Paso, tested positive for marijuana use in 2015, the State Board for Educator Certification sought to suspend her license for two years. In her defense, Roland argued that because she’d smoked the pot during a vacation in Colorado, where the drug has been legal for recreational use since 2013, she had done nothing wrong. (more…)

Whilst stretching/strengthening one early morning last week and listening to NPR (KRWG), I heard Lowe’s/Big 8 cited for supporting/funding that fine station’s programming. I’m a huge fan of the fantastic food store (I’m also quite enthusiastic about Albertsons), and this particular Lowe’s/Big 8 (marvelous Montwood/lousy Lee Treviño) often saw me inside purchasing items critical to my success when teaching at the nearby Hanks High School (one of World-class Ysleta ISD campuses). Within the past two weeks, I had purchased a tube of anchovy paste (Yum!) and repurposed the red cap to fit snugly on the electrical cord for one of two batteries when not in use. It works great, and their ain’t nothing fishy about it! (Sadly, all the benefits of this nutritious sea dweller are outweighed by the increased cholesterol, which showed up in my most recent blood/urine test, so now no more ingesting then for the time being!) Anyway, I definitely want to note how great Lowe’s/Big 8 is in EuniceNM-USA; I was on the last great biketour on my beloved Doublevision (January-February 2018), and was pedaling to former colleague/good friend Doug Antrim (RIP) in GrandfallsTX-USA when I pulled up into the overhang of this fantastic food store after camping out on US62-180 halfway East of CarlsbadNM-USA. Not only does Lowe’s/Big 8 carry excellent edibles, but there was a super Subway inside too! The only way it could be improved would be decent overnight shelter—also answered by the simply superb Oil Patch Motel! I couldn’t believe my good fortune: fresh/nutritious food immediate and to go, friendly staff/management, covered benches with electrical outlets available. I could recharge both my body & cell phone, get excellent rest overnight indoors, too! (When the Sun goes down in the desert during Winter, it becomes bitterly cold, even freezes water bottles, exponentially exacerbated if there is wind—and there definitely was!) It was cold enough for me to stay in the room and view the rare blood moon on the television. Slightly later, I spent much of the morning enjoying a much needed delicious filling brekkie at Debby’s Country Kitchen. What a great place—gets my “¡Wheel of Approval!” (at El Paso Texas / Ciudad Juarez, Mexico) https://www.instagram.com/p/CE2pz8PlQ-2/?igshid=1wcma3ob8078e

A tiring day—surprisingly so as I do have an eBikeKit-assisted CruzBike—which began with a drop-off at the great Eastwood HS campus, another fine school in the World-class Ysleta ISD, is now quite difficult for entry by unauthorized persons, regardless if this was one of the campuses I retired from, December 2017. That is just another aspect of this school districts complete support of our students and their families. (at Eastwood High School) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7ANFUSl2ht/?igshid=1ezbg1ka8nb29
