Cape Town First Thursday

I can’t express how excited I was when I found out Cape Town has First Thursday Art Walk.

Art Walk is a monthly ritual back home in Seattle-- my friends and I have been going every month for years. So when I found out Cape Town has its own version, I felt right at home! My roommate Jamie and I checked out Youngblood Gallery which had such a good vibe and three stories of beautiful African modern art. I finally found the hipsters of South Africa.

First Thursday here turns into a huge party around Bree and Loop streets, not only in the galleries but in the surrounding bars and restaurants. Today was also our city team leader Josh and his twin brother Nate’s birthday, so we went to see their DJ set at SoCal, a breezy social club. Happy birthday to the brothers!!
