sometimes I am convinced that a decent subset of adults just Hate Kids for no reason. Im in some online punk communities and I keep seeing people team up against young people entering the community and asking for advice, make fun of them, etc. People insulting each other online by insinuating that because someone isnt an adult theyre stupid and their opinion hold no weight. I have met some people who truly do love everyone and understand the value of community, and me being me I would like to think that everyone fundamentally gets that kids are human people and also inexperienced, but obviously not. Its one or the other. Everyone is forced to be one or the other. If you show any confusion or lack of knowledge, youre too young be doing [insert activity- latest one I saw was reading complicated books and interacting with media?? Babe what] and you should shut up and get off the internet. Kids should be seen and not heard, be quiet while the adults are talking. You sound like the type of person id punch in the throat. Then if you dont do that, if you go the direction I and many of my friends have gone in order to have the slightest bit of respect, you are no longer allowed to be confused, because that means youre immature and dumb and need to leave. Even then, you arent really treated like a person, youre just 'one of the good ones', or they assume youre an adult and treat you like a human being until they learn your age and get rid of you. What the hell happened to community? I may be young, I may not have much life experience, but I am not a subhuman creature. I have thoughts and I am wrong often but I listen when im wrong and I listen better than ANY adult ive met. A lot of folks my age too, but we're used to being told were wrong, so we either shut up or we start learning. I am not without value because I cant vote and my life is controlled by others. This shit is especially frustrating when it comes from people who say theyre trying to build community. News flash- if your community doesnt have kids, its gonna fucking die. If you make fun of everyone trying to help confused and scared kids be part of something and make a difference, your community will never have anyone new. Youre acting like a cop. Get the fuck out
