So since this subgenre start to be acknowledged I will post here more anime with a majority of a male cast but with cute boys or/and men. Slice of life with this kind of dynamic is generally my favorite genre of anime. I'll try to give more diversity to it wether it's the genre or the vibe.
Here we go:
My new boss is goofy
Play it cool guys
Rokuhodo yotsuiro biyori
Idolish7 (it get dark but I still don't see it getting the attention it deserve)
Shounen Hollywood
Kimi to Boku
Sanrio boys
Tsuritama
Magic Kyun renaissance (the only reverse harem I will include due to it being the most wholesome and cute one I've seen so far)
I tried to include a maximum of non popular show since show like free!! Or sk8 were popular when they were released.
As for why I do it at all, I'd say that male characters really have a different vibes depending on what the audience of their show is for.
I hope you'll find something for you here. Have fun!

2024’s been a good anime-finding year. Like I finally watched The Duke of Death and His Maid, which is adorable. MC is so charming and polite- I wish him eternal happiness and for his abusive mom to go die. And then found Hakuoki of which I’m still recovering from. Raven of the Inner palace I sort of randomly chose. I just bought the LN for it. It was so fascinating. Also had pretty artwork. At some point I stumbled across Dance Dance Danseur and that was fantastic. As a former ballet dancer, it showcased so much of that lifestyle. Both the positives and negatives. Yotsuiro Biyori was perfection. Just wished it was longer. I absolutely love shows that focus on how little things can make a difference in someone’s life. How being KIND TO PEOPLE is important.
Fena: Pirate Princess was good. STUNNING artwork. Just… flawless art. Story could have been better, but it’s fine overall. I enjoyed it. Then I headed into action and watched Bungo Stray Dogs and that was a wild ride. Love a good shounen style that keeps things interesting! And lastly, a fabulous slow burn that is Sugar Apple Fairy Tale. Anyways those are the highlights so far. I’ve watched some others too, but these have been the most fun!

hi! random question but i started watching Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi bc of your gifs and its so fun!! do you know of other anime that have a similar vibe? thanks for the beautiful gifs!
Hi, anon! Nicee!! You've watched Tonsuki!! It really makes me happy when people watch a series because of my edits. And I am very excited and looking forward to the second season!! \( ̄▽ ̄)/
As for similar anime, you can check these series under the cut.
Buddy Daddies - there's this same vibe because of Sui (not to mention, both Sui and the kid in this series had the same seiyuu). i even made a post showing parallels for these two series (you can check my post here if you haven't seen it). like they're both families but not you're typical family.
Dungeon Meshi - both series also feature cooking of monsters, not really in a super gourmet way, but in a way that would still make you want to eat. I also read a bit ahead of the mange for both series so just a fair bit of warning that DunMeshi will be more complicated as the story progresses while Tonsuki maintains its pace.
Amaama to Inazuma - this is a story about a single father whose wife passed away leaving him and her only daughter behind. the father is a teacher and one of his students owns a restaurant. the student, who's struggling with cooking, made an offer that they all cook together so both of them can make delicious meals. there's a bit of angst since it's not been long after the teacher's wife passed away but it's also a very healing series to watch.
Himesama "Goumon" no Jikan desu - a unique series where the princess was held captive and subjected to "torture" but in a different way. this also heals the soul and features foodie from time to time.
Rokuhou-dou Yotsuiro Biyori - a bunch of ikemen cooking!! lol. anyways, the owner inherited the restaurant from his grandfather. every character has their own specialty and also features stories of the people eating at their cafe.
Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu - another isekai that I also like. the MC is OP but he rarely has to show what he can do because the other characters are powerful enough to get the job done. just like Mukouda, the MC here was trying to be a merchant instead of an adventurer.
Isekai Ojisan - this is the story of an uncle who got isekaid but was able to to return back to his own world after 17 years (he was in a state of coma). so what's the highlight now? since he was gone for a while, he missed a lot of what transpired for the past years and it's his nephew's task to keep him up to date. he likes playing video games when he was young. there are too many retro games mentioned here and i couldn't even relate since i don't play but i still had fun watching this.
Isekai de Mofumofu Nadenade suru Tame ni Ganbattemasu - another isekai full of fluff. of course, there's a conflict that the MC is trying to resolve despite her young age but it's 90% pure fluff.
Once again, thank you for letting me know about Tonsuki! I hope this list somehow helps. ^^

Bunch of animes that I watched using a Crunchyroll subscription
Play it Cool Guys (24 episodes)- One of my fav comfort animes and love the entertainment that each guy gets. And yes I managed to finish watching all of the episodes since the last time I watched it, I only got up to 6-7 episodes 😭. Great anime btw
Yotsuiro Biyori (12 episodes)- Another comforting anime that I got to watch due to it popping up on Crunchyroll’s Twitter account and how it actually is a pretty good premises. While I do wish that some of the main guys could use a bit more fleshing out, it makes up for it with delicious food and memorable side characters. Also you can’t convince me that Gure is best boi!
A Place Further than The Universe (12 episodes)- Fantastic and fabulous anime to watch! The premise, the characters, the art, everything looks good! I love how the topic of how Shirase deals with the death of her mother is handled and makes for a very satisfying conclusion. Overall, this anime earns a 10/10 in my heart! Like with PICG, I only got up to 6 episodes but managed to finish watching all of the episodes.
The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting (12 episodes)- Yes. I rewatched all of the episodes one day because of how charming it is. And while I do agree that the 4th episode is a bit jarring because of the filler and all, it still gives an insight on Kirishima’s character trait on being forgetful and how he fears of forgetting his most important duty: protecting his loved ones.
Lycoris Recoil (13 episodes)- Back last year, I wasn’t too interested in the premises back then but after watching some clips, I thought hey maybe I should give it a try to watch it and lo and behold!Lycoris Recoil is one roller coaster of an anime to enjoy and watch. From the art, characters and the whole story, it made for a pretty engaging anime to watch!

Bro Sui & Toki’s relationship is just so....🥺🥺🥺😭🥰
So cute! So pure! Like you can tell they know each other well and deeply care for one another and aaaaaaaaaa!!!
Mild spoilers below: ————————————
The last episode where Toki just gently places the winter coat on Sui so he’s not cold and they can go to the shrine together with everyone else honestly just wrecked me emotionally,,, HOW ARE YOU TWO GOING TO BE SO SOFT LIKE THAT HUH!? my heart....😭🥰😍🥺🥺🥺
And that they just instinctively stand next to each other and that whole mocha pounding thing and them being extra together with the rest of their found family!!! 😭😭😭
Sui using Toki’s pottery wares and Toki making sure Sui is okay anytime his brother is mentioned .... they’re a whole family your honor!
This surpasses any otp/brotp thing and is just so HEARTWARMING!!!!
Plus just the way the two care for Gure and Tsubaki too! 🥺🥺🥺🥺
—————————————
This anime as a whole = *chef’s kiss* 👌 (yes a pun and an appropriate one at that fufu)
But Sui, Toki and Kinako (how can you not love a chubby smug cat?!) took the cake for me 🥰

Name: Yotsuiro Biyori
Rating: 3.9/5
Can it be watched casually: yes and no. It's an easy anime to watch, and you don't need to be super invested in it. However, it is not dubbed in English is it's hard to watch without fully paying attention.
Yotsuiro Biyori is definitely a comforting, feel-good anime. There's 12 episodes, and it doesn't feel too long or too short in my opinion. The series follows a group of 4 adult friends who work at one of the group's old-school restaurant. It focuses on both the issues of the patrons and the group of friends. It has lots of talk of making different foods and sweets, which is why I mostly watched it while I was eating something! It doesn't get too far into super heavy topics, most of the heaviness comes from grief, aging, and a divide between two brothers. Sometimes, it does feel a little lacking plot wise, and the full divide between the brothers is never flshes out fully, but it is still a sweet series to watch.
If you need something easy to watch that also leaves you feeling satisfied, Yotsuiro Biyori is definitely one for you. There's no comedy or fantasy to is, it's just a simple slice of life anime with prevalent themes of food and growing up.

Best Underrated Anime Group I Round 1: #I4 vs #I5
#I4: Colorblind witch meets her granny’s friends by time travel
Despite the kaleidoscopic magic ingrained in everyday life, Hitomi Tsukishiro's monochrome world is deprived of emotion and feeling. On a night as black and white as any other, amidst the fireworks spreading across the sky, Hitomi's grandmother Kohaku conjures a spell, for which she has been harnessing the moon's light for 60 years, to send Hitomi back in time to the year 2018 when Kohaku was in high school.
Hitomi's mission seems unclear, but her grandmother assures her that she will know when she gets there. Following a trip through time aboard a train driven by a strange yellow creature, Hitomi finds herself in stoic artist Yuito Aoi's room, and his drawings flood her world with color. What is Hitomi's purpose there, and why do Yuito's drawings return such breathtaking color to her drab world?
#I5: Comfort-food anime, 4 guys managing a cafe
Kyousui "Sui" Tougoku inherits a traditional Japanese-style cafe called Rokuhoudou from his grandfather, which he manages alongside Gregorio "Gure" Valentino, Tokitaka Nagae, and Tsubaki Nakao. Their hospitality par excellence undoubtedly turns any one-time visitor into a regular. Having gone through their own share of trials and tribulations, the staff at this modest cafe do their best to serve their customers—whether it be through tea, sweets, or even helping with the various troubles one may have.
Although most days pass pleasantly, the small world of Sui and his friends takes an unexpected path when their reputation as a cafe flourishes overnight.
Titles, propagandas, trailers, and poll under the cut!
#I4: Iroduku: The World in Colors
youtube
Propaganda:
It’s the kind of show I only watched once, but it stayed with me to this day. It has a unique story that, despite having supernatural elements, feels grounded in human emotions the most. A rare but solid example of magical realism.
The premise is so original, yet very easy to grasp from a start. The time-travel and magic simply lay a groundwork for the story to carry on. If you were ever frustrated by how in supernatural shows there isn’t enough time to explore characters’ emotional depth bc plot, then this anime will be a delightful breather for you. Because the whole show is about the main character’s healing process, learning to overcome her fears, opening up to others… It’s a journey of a lonely, broken person who finds meaning to her life in a distant timeline. And it’s wonderful and painful on all levels.
The visuals, animation, background art are all stunning. Usage of colour is meaningful, to portray heroine’s colourblindess with proper weight. The show isn’t black/white for the viewers, but when she sees colours, they truly make them shine. Soundtrack wise, ending song is heartbreakingly beautiful and encapsulates the feeling of the whole series perfectly.
TL;DR: It's magical but not intense. Sad but comforting.
(I hope I did it justice. Pls watch it, it has 12 eps that are 100% enough for this story <3 )
Trigger Warnings: Not stated.
#I5: Rokuhou-dou Yotsuiro Biyori
dailymotion
Propaganda:
The overall calming atmosphere of the café and the peace good food can bring—this forms the basis of the human interaction happening at Rokuhoudou, the café. We see people finding comfort in the food they have while at the café, and it seriously so sweet. A lot of people might enjoy this.
Trigger Warnings: None.
