In this entry we want to tell you about our trip catching Auroras Boreales, so we took our things and bought an airplane ticket to Yellowknife.
The flight between Toronto and Yellowknife takes about 8h 13m and costs $210 - $750 USD.
We arrived around 7:00 pm with the guys from North Stars Adventure that took us on a guided aurora borealis hunting tour, which started at 9 pm until 1 am. It was a magical adventure. During the tour we were able to see the aurora borealis as well as to see and enjoy the indigenous people with delicious hot chocolate and Canadian Maple cookies.
I hope someday you can catch the Aurora Borealis too!.

Exploring the Northern Lights: Yellowknife Aurora Tour Essentials
Yellowknife, located in Canada's Northwest Territories, is renowned as one of the best places on Earth to witness the mesmerizing spectacle of the Northern Lights. If you're planning to embark on a Yellowknife tour aurora adventure, it's essential to be well-prepared for this awe-inspiring experience. In this guide, we'll explore the essentials you need to make the most of your Northern Lights expedition with Yellowknife Tours Ltd.
Tumblr media
Understanding the Phenomenon
Before embarking on your Yellowknife tour aurora adventure, it's important to understand the science behind the Northern Lights. Also known as the Aurora Borealis, this natural phenomenon occurs when charged particles from the sun collide with gases in the Earth's atmosphere, creating colorful displays of light in the night sky. Yellowknife's location within the auroral oval makes it an ideal destination for witnessing this celestial spectacle.
Choosing the Right Yellowknife Tour Package
When planning your Yellowknife tour aurora experience, selecting the right tour package is crucial. Yellowknife Tours Ltd. offers a range of packages tailored to suit different preferences and budgets. Whether you prefer a guided tour with knowledgeable experts or a self-guided adventure with flexible options, there's a package to meet your needs. Be sure to consider factors such as duration, inclusions, and amenities when choosing your tour package.
Dressing for the Arctic Conditions
Yellowknife's subarctic climate means that temperatures can drop significantly, especially during Northern Lights viewing sessions. To stay comfortable and safe during your aurora tour, it's essential to dress appropriately for the Arctic conditions. Layering is key to regulating body temperature, so be sure to wear thermal base layers, a warm insulating layer, and a waterproof outer shell. Don't forget to pack gloves, a hat, woolen socks, and insulated winter boots to keep extremities warm.
Optimal Viewing Locations
One of the advantages of booking a Yellowknife tour aurora experience with Yellowknife Tours Ltd. is access to optimal viewing locations away from city lights. These remote locations offer unobstructed views of the Northern Lights, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the magic of the aurora. From lakeside vistas to wilderness campsites, each location offers a unique perspective on this natural wonder. Be sure to check the weather forecast and aurora forecasts to maximize your chances of witnessing a spectacular display.
Capturing the Moment
Photographing the Northern Lights is a highlight of any Yellowknife tour aurora experience. To capture stunning images of the aurora, be sure to bring along a DSLR camera with manual settings, a sturdy tripod, and a wide-angle lens with a low aperture. Familiarize yourself with basic photography techniques such as long exposures and adjusting ISO settings to capture the vibrant colors and intricate patterns of the Northern Lights. Don't forget to dress warmly and pack spare batteries and memory cards to ensure you're ready to capture the moment.
Embracing the Experience
Above all, remember to embrace the experience of witnessing the Northern Lights in Yellowknife. This natural phenomenon is a humbling reminder of the Earth's beauty and the wonders of the universe. Take time to marvel at the dancing lights, breathe in the crisp Arctic air, and savor the moment with awe and gratitude. With Yellowknife Tours Ltd., your Yellowknife tour aurora experience promises to be an unforgettable adventure filled with wonder and excitement.
In conclusion, exploring the Northern Lights in Yellowknife is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that offers unparalleled beauty and wonder. By choosing the right tour package, dressing appropriately for Arctic conditions, selecting optimal viewing locations, capturing the moment through photography, and embracing the experience with awe and gratitude, you'll create memories to last a lifetime. With Yellowknife Tours Ltd., your Yellowknife tour aurora adventure awaits.
